A side note...Customer Service from FiltersNow through Amazon was spectacular!
UPDATE: Over the last few months we have really begun to notice the difference these filters make. Our first example is a visit from a severe, cat-allergy sufferer. A cousin of ours spent nearly an entire week with us and found that his usual cat allergies did not act up at all. Recently, the true test has come. I replaced every carbon filter with a high end 3M filter (no activated charcoal). Within days, we began to feel a general discomfort at constant subtle smells throughout our home. We allowed the 3M filters to do their job for 6 weeks, then went back to the Accumulair Carbon. By the end of the day of re-installation, the house was fresh and comfortable again. We had such a great night's rest that very same night that we ordered a supply of Accumulair to last us the rest of the year.
I am no recommending these strongly to anyone that will listen.

Bought this filter to stop the smell of grass from my lawn mower seeping up from the basement. Does the job as advertised. Definitely recommend and definitely will buy more when needed.Best Deals for Accumulair Carbon Odor Block Filter
Stinky fumes. Not only do they singe your nose hairs, but chances are they're toxic! Chemicals, cigarette smoke... we know the aren't good for us.I've always wondered why a charcoal-activated/carbon air filter was never available for whole-house HVAC systems. The makers of Accumulair must have pondered the same thing because here, after all these years, is an odor absorbing air filter for the house!
OK, I'll cut to the chase. This filter does a great job of absorbing household odors. It works like a regular particle filter and is just as easy to install. It's available in every size imaginable (be sure to double-check you're ordering the right one since that dropdown-menu size selector has enough sizes to make your eyes cross).
Four, not five, stars because it's not a super effective particle filter compared to a "regular" non odor-absorbing filter. The filter is more like a sponge material rather than cross-woven fibers or microfibers so there are bigger pores for some dust/allergens to penetrate. Allergy sufferers might fare better enduring the smell of last night's fish dinner instead of circulating bigger particles than a standard filter would catch. But it does exactly as claimed... it clears the funk from the air. (Well, maybe they didn't use the word "funk"...)
Honest reviews on Accumulair Carbon Odor Block Filter
These seem to work pretty well. I rent and am worried about smoke and cooking fumes accumulating. I have a 1 BR apartment with the return duct in an AC/Heater closet located near the kitchen. I would suggest stocking up on these and replace them once every 1-3 months. I suppose it's not going to trap all the smoke and cooking fumes, but it's better than the cheap cotton candy filter material that was in my apartment's heater/ac.Edit: The new shipment of 6 filters showed more light showing thru the filters, which means they used less charcoal. I was kind of disappointed.
I've since decided these are inferior to Nordic Pure MERV 7 Plus Carbon Air Filters 1 inch. Accumulair reduced the amount of charcoal in their line of filters. You can see right thru them now!
