This item is great for the price and exceeded my expectations. The flames and logs look realistic and the glass frame looks great. The only reason that I rated it a 4 is because we have it mounted under a flat screen TV and the heat vent is on the top of the fireplace...we made a metal redirect for the heat and painted it black. I wish it was designed with the vents on the sides.

This fireplace looks nice, but the corners weren't finished well. Plus with the heat coming out of the top, it heats nothing but the wall it is hanging on. There isn't a fan to blow the heat into the room. This may be a nice feature if you have small kids as it remains cool every where but the very top. It does nothing to heat even the smallest room. I love this, makes it feel cozy and warm and I don't even use the heat. The fan cannot be turned off, so you do hear it. For me that's OK as I only use it when we are watching TV. in the bedroom, but it's like a wall air conditioner; once you get use to it you don't notice it, at least for us. This one does NOT go into the wall, it hangs on a bracket you put on the wall, so it would not look good from the sides, again not a problem for us as you only see it from the front. When I purchased the item "New", I could tell the shipping label with my name was covering an older label which meant someone had previously purchased and returned the item. When I opened the box, I noticed it had been open and taped shut multiple times. First impression of the fireplace was that it looked nice, but upon closer inspection I noticed that the decorative screw covers were off and found them laying loose in the box. I tried to push them back on, but they would fall off under their own weight. I plugged the unit in, turned on the main power, then realised the side controls didn't work. I tried the remote, which surprisingly turned the unit on. Just turning on the power with remote turned heat and flame on high, which isn't supposed to happen. The fireplace had major electrical issues. I liked this product in general. It looks rather real and also produces adequate heat. Unfortunately, I really did not have a place to put this that would make it look presentable, because the fireplace is affixed to the wall and cannot be recessed into the wall (because it needs ventilation for the heat part of the device), it looks rather awkward nailed to the wall with the big, clunky power cord. I knew this beforehand, but I did not know it would look so odd when placed on the wall. I eventually sold it to a friend. If you have an appropriate place to put this fireplace that disguises how it protrudes from the wall and downplays the power cord, I think this could work for you.
