Item was not what I was expecting. The stain color is off from the picture and it even may be that the "wood grain" is actually a sticker, not even veneer. Screws do not hold up well in shipment, tearing insert from mantel. I would recommend seeing this item in person before purchase and picking up item in store as opposed to shipping.

We installed this stove in our log cabin as a secondary heat source. It has performed great. The thermostat control really make this stove a great deal. It will keep the cabin at an even temperature with no work from us. This is a quality stove and it looks like it was built for the cabin!

I bought this model for the front room area (living room/dining room/kitchen) and a direct vent for my bedroom at the opposite end of the home a few years ago to serve as back up heaters in the event of a power outage. I don't regret the decision one bit. This unit, Kozy World Windsor, came with a different exterior but the inside (black part in this picture) is the same. Mine came from the hardware store across the street so I can't address shipping concerns from other retailers here. My initial concerns were: 1) ventless fireplaces directly exhaust into the air in the home and 2) these units might burn up all the oxygen in the home further decreasing air quality. These have O2 sensors that prevent this and I've never noticed any air quality issues. I also learned that the primary byproduct of burning propane is water vapor which makes these a humidifier of sorts. This a good thing during the winter in my opinion. Overall, the product quality has been excellent and I would consider another if the need arose!

After further thought, I think it best to say how I use this fireplace (which doesn't change my 5 star rating). Despite it's excellent performance, I do not trust any vent-less fireplace enough to use the thermostat feature like I do with the direct vent I installed in my bedroom. Although I have friends who do trust them, I prefer to manually turn it on (with the remote or the control panel on the unit). That being said, with 25,000 BTU, it heats the common areas of my house fast enough that I'm comfortable doing so manually. The unit has a blower (an electric fan) which kicks on (in the auto setting when the electric is on) shortly after the unit is warmed up (after a few minutes) that pushes hot air out quickly. With the blower running, and the house not freezing (50F+), the fireplace produces enough heat to run you out of the house quickly. In the event of a power outage, it takes about an hour w/o the blower (which requires electricity), using natural convection in my home (semi open architecture, 8" ceilings, one story 3 bedroom, 3 bath house) to get the common areas above 75F (which feels pretty warm to me during the winter).
