It's absolutely great looking: hip, sharp and whimsical. Everyone in my architecture firm wanted one when it was delivered. But I bought it for a room in my home with a fireplace but without central heat. Sadly, it's much, much less powerful than the much less attractive ceramic heater I bought at Costco for 1/3 the price. It also off-gases really toxic-smelling fumes for several hours after you turn it on, so be prepared to put in a very well-ventilated place to begin with. (I had to plug it in outdoors.)
It still deserves rave reviews for its looks, but I'm swapping out the ugly black electric cord it came with for a white one...

Looks good from 3 feet away. As you move closer, the metal-colored plastic detracts from the appearance.Bizarre controls. I can't believe I needed to read the instructions for a device this basic.
While the heating element turns on consistently, the fan is less reliable. I can tell when this happens by the terrible smell it emits, at which point I run over and unplug it.

I've had one of these for several years and I've just ordered a second one for another room in our house. We live in northern California and use ours to keep our daughter's room a few degrees warmer than the rest of the house at night (71 or 72 instead of the 66 degrees we set our central heat for). Positives: cute, stays cool to the touch, doesn't heat up the cord or make worrying electrical noises or seem cheap and scary like other space heaters. Quiet fan operation doesn't disturb her if I turn it on or off at night, and the controls seem pretty simple to me. Negatives: I agree with the other reviewers that this is never going to help you heat an unheated workshop or in a very cold climate. It works great for a bathroom, bedroom or an office to supplement central heat when you don't need to keep the whole house as warm. For us the only real negative is that the thermostat could be a little more reliable mostly it seems to approximately work, but sometimes I'll notice that the heater runs the room up into the upper 70s and it doesn't shut off, even though when you test the thermostat setting by hand it should have. We use a Belkin outlet timer cutoff in the winter to plug this into so that it doesn't run more than 3 hrs at night and we don't have to remember to check.Honest reviews on MAX Fan Heater
Paid a premium for its looks but as most things pretty, this one fails to deliver ! Construction quality looked cheap for the price. Even with the heat control set to the highest setting and the thermostat control set to Max , the heater barely moved the temperature in our living room (about 150 sqft) with ambient temperatures of around 60* F.This thing could rock in Texas or Florida but would be little more than an ornamental decoration in most of the Mid-West.
Needless to say this thing is on its way back to the store !
