I have a very large family room/kitchen open area. I have been closing the door to the rest of my house, setting the thermostat back to 62 and running the Duraflame in the FR area. The FR warms up to 69/70 and the rest of my home goes down to 62. About half-an-hour before going to bed I set the thermostat to 66. I was concerned about my electric bill, but when it came I was pleasantly surprised that it had only gone up $12 for the entire month. Even better my gas heating bill went down over $25 for the month. The cabinet stays cool to the touch and looks like a piece of furniture. I would definitely recommend this heater.

Nice heater for my basement, does take the chill out of my basement, i have a very large area to heat, takes awhile but after an hour or so, it does feel comfortable.Best Deals for Duraflame Colby Portable Heater, 10HM1342-O128
We bought this for a large living room/den which as at one end of our house and which stays a bit cooler in the winter time. This unit keeps the temperature comfortable and keeps the heating in that part of our house. Remote control and manual controls are very nice feature. Never could get this to heat even the smallest of our rooms. We ended up pulling it right up to our chairs to get any warmth from it.
