Hubby has allergies and didn't want me burning wood in our fireplace. I really wanted a fire for those cold evenings. This was the perfect compromise. It looks pretty real, the gel crackles like a real fire, and it creates a little warmth. I wish it put off a bit more heat, but I'm happy with it. If used a lot, the gel is kind of expensive though.not as large as a real fire, or even the photo, but the fireplace is very pretty, it does have an odor the first few times you burn it.
