Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I really want to say great things about the Frigidaire Monaco Vertical Wall Hanging LED Fireplace the picture makes it look so warm, inviting and cozy. When the box arrived, the same picture was shown there as well and I couldn't wait to hang it up and then snuggle in on the couch with a "fire" and a good book. I will say that set-up was easy it was well packaged and the directions were easy to follow.

However, this unit never made it onto my wall. We plugged it in to test it out and the "flames" just looked like blinky orange LEDs. WAY disappointing.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I would argue that some of the prior reviewers were a bit too harsh in their assessment of this electric fireplace. True, if you're looking for an absolutely realistic rendition of a fireplace, you will likely be disappointed by this product. But in terms of it doing what it is meant to do (provide soft lighting plus/minus heat in an attractive package), this fireplace does deliver. Yes, it is fair to call it a glorified space heater, but it's a space heater that is elegant and attractive to have on the wall even in a formal room. The flames are stylized and kind of mesmerizing in the way that the lava lamp I had in college was mesmerizing. I do find it to be soothing and relaxing to watch the "flames." The heat is also very pleasant.

On the other hand, I agree with those who suggested that this fireplace is too expensive. If it cost half as much ($200 instead of $400 retail, and selling for $150 with the Amazon 25% discount), the price would then be commensurate with the value of the product. It is also very heavy at around 35 pounds. If you're not much of a handyman, consider hiring someone to install it for you, especially if you're planning to run the electric cord inside the wall so that it doesn't show. Finally, the fireplace does not automatically switch off after a set amount of time, so it's probably best to avoid falling asleep with it on unless you want to risk it turning into a real electrical fire.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I thought this electric fireplace would be a great, stylish way to provide additional heating elements to a room and add to the design aesthetic of the room. After watching so many renovation shows with these types of fireplaces...I thought it would be fun.

First, after reading the other reviews about this device, I decided NOT to wall mount it before viewing the flame effects for myself. I'm glad I did. The cheesy flames really detract from the experience, making this 'fireplace' a giant, expensive space heater rather than a cool addition to a room's ambiance.

Second, there is no thermostat with this fireplace. It would have been nice to have a thermostatic setting to enable the fireplace to shut off (or at least the heat to dial down) when it reached a certain level or temp. No dice. It's either high or low. It does (supposedly) have a safety feature where it will shut off if it overheats.

Third, it's BIG. And you're supposed to mount it at least 3 feet from the ceiling and other objects for optimum heat ventilation. Given that it's about 3 feet high...well, you really don't have much wiggle room unless you have very high ceilings. That and the fact that I have a colonial-style home with chair rails in every room except for the bedrooms...well, that again limited where I could mount this puppy. They also suggest that it be at least 2 feet off the floor for 'optimum viewing'.

On the plus side, it seems (in my test) that the heat output seems to be good and it does come with a remote control. But you're paying a premium for what is, essentially, a space heater. The LED simulated fire is NOT worth the extra $200 you're spending for this form factor. Skip it.

The case and external presentation is relatively attractive; it does work nicely as a space heater in a smallish space. If the "realistic LED flames" were not so horribly awful, it would be a nice addition to many a room.

However, the "flames" are just dreadful. They are orange ribbons, ala the northern lights, that stream from the bottom of the frame upward, kind of like staring at the yellow lines on the highway but upside down. In an effect similar to staring at the yellow lines on the highway, looking at the fireplace for any length of time at all actually makes me motion sick. And I'm not really all that susceptible to motion sickness. Even my dogs quickly averted their eyes from it.

Having heard rumors that the display was not very appealing, I did not go through the extensive mounting process that is to be done before turning on the unit, instead propping it up on some thick plywood just to see how things went. I certainly won't be mounting it, now, but if I did, I think I would seek out some different hardware than that provided; I used bigger screws and drywall anchors to hang a quilt last week than come with this very hefty space heater.

I really can't believe somebody looked at this product and thought it was ready to market. I have $25 holiday decorations that have a better graphics display than does this unit. Just such a disappointment!

This is a really good idea. The animated fire, the efficient heat, the ease of installation...how can you lose! It even has a remote control! That's just too cool, I mean warm, I mean...well, you know.

We don't have a real fireplace, but this is the next best thing, but don't try to toast any marshmallows, it makes the LED screen all sticky!
