I live in Arizona and even on a hot day this AC cools off my garage. I especially like the auto/energy saver feature that turns off the Compressor and fan when the desired temp is reached. You need a sleeve to install this unit and the sleeve is made by Amana which is a little confusing.

I bought one of these early in the year & it has been a blessing in my old, drafty, under-insulated house. I don't need to crank up the expensive gas heating, but I stay nice & warm in my family room now. I am saving up to buy 2 more in smaller sizes for other rooms. The increase in my electric bill has been slight, but the decrease in my gas bill has been noticeable!

Plus my older cat loves it too! She just lays right down & goes to sleep!

We bought our first rug buddy (5x7) for our baby's nursery and love it! It keeps his room warm (with a programmable outlet thermostat we also ordered) while we can keep our bedroom and the rest of the house cool. We loved it so much we bought a second one for our drafty living room. Guests always comment on how great it feels!

This has saved my life. I live in a split-level house, and my entry levels are always too cold while my upstairs are always too hot. Speedheat has saved me by allowing me to just heat one room at a time...and you don't have to rip up your floors to use it either! just throw it under a rug, plug it in, and go!

I have a large room on a lower floor that is always freezing. The mats really help. They do the job unless it's really cold and then I need a space heater as well. But it does a great job and exactly what I was looking for, I have 2 under a big rug.

I got this to replace a ten-year old shower head that was UGLY. I have an on-demand water heater so there has to be an easy flow through the head to get the water heater to fire up. We took the water saver filter out and it works very well indeed. And looks great! I recommend this. I got it on sale for a great price.

Shower head looks beautiful and was received quickly; however, it does not provide a spray. Rather the water just flows weakly from the head in one big stream that falls straight down. We have good water pressure so I don't understand what is causing the problem.

This shower head is great! We bought it to replace a rain-style one that was in our new home. We wanted something with a stronger spray, but whose spray didn't feel like needles. This shower head delivered. It has a beautiful bronze finish and the spray is just the right width and pressure. It's easy to rinse off and direct the flow exactly where needed. I would definitely recommend this shower head!

First, there aren't a lot of options given the size in terms of dimensions and BTU output and price range. Cast iron was my first choice, but too expensive. The stove is attractive, easy to use and does have good heat output. It's high enough so that it doesn't have to sit on a mantle. It arrived when they said it would. Pretty easy to set up. I've only had it for 5 or six weeks, but I like it.

We have a cold ground level family room that's about 15x20 and this heats it up great. Blasts the heat out.

The remote is very convenient. Forget the thermostat control...it just doesn't work/calibrate correctly. Made in China...you understand.

Now the bad news..

After 11 months of flawless operation the remote receiver died. Called the manufacturer, and they said they would ship me a new one, free of charge. After about a couple of days of manually turning it on using the switch on the receiver box it quit entirely. Apparently the receiver sends a small charge to a solenoid that starts it up. If the remote receiver dies (and I've read a few review where this has happened) there is no manual way to start the stove. Sure, you can always get he pilot lit with a match, but the solenoid won't open the internals to allow the gas to flow into the burners unless the remote receiver is working and delivers the small voltage to the solenoid. Now the joke part...since the receiver is a back-ordered part the manufacturer offered to let me RMA the entire stove..which I am doing. So for something the size of a cigarette pack I need to swap the entire stove. It's getting cold out and I miss it already.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one..

It really is a great stove. During the recent hurricane when we didn't have power this thing was fantastic. Kept us all warm for 13 days.

Just understand how that remote receiver works...they make a model without the remote...you may want to consider it.

Update 9/19/2013:

Lost the remote (sigh)...If you go to ProComm or SkyCom (the remote manufacturer) you'll pay dearly ($150+) for a replacement. I did check the auction sites and was able to replace it for $25...just make sure it's one that will send voltage to the solenoid. There are 2 types...The unit works good as new, and this is our 3rd season using it. Last year it was a lifesaver after Sandy. We didn't have electricity for 2 weeks and this unit saved us.

This was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted something that would heat our new three season room and this was it. It is the wood burning stove look we wanted. It took a few minutes to figure out the remote, but it works great.

Honest reviews on ProCom Vent-Free Dual Fuel Stove - 23,000 BTU, 850 Sq. Ft. Heating

When I first installed the stove it wouldn't work by the remote. After being on the phone with pro-com for a couple hours and trying several things over and over again they determined the remote was bad. About a week later I got the remote and it still didn't work. I figured the reciever must be bad, but I couldn't convince them to send me one. After a week of going back and forth with them and trying all the same things over and over, because aparently I am stupid, they finally sent me one, and now the stove works. It's OK, not great.

This is our second Classic Flame purchase. We wanted a smaller, portable unit for the bedroom to add warmth on cold nights. We have been very pleased with this unit! Comes with a remote control or, you can use the control panel buttons, both activate the automatic on-screen function indicators (indicators fade out when not in use). The flame is very realistic, there are 5 brightness levels so you can choose the desired flame intensity. The heater has 11 thermostat levels to cycle through (62, 64, 66-82 degrees), or turn the heater off and enjoy the ambiance. Also has a timer ... what a great idea! You can choose from one of ten timer settings: 30 minutes, or 1-9 hours. We turn the fireplace on 70 degrees and set the timer before we head up to bed ... the room heats up very quickly and is warm toasty when we arrive. Because the timer is set, the unit turns itself off after we're asleep. The cabinet is very pretty, too. The top has the look of inlaid wood trim which adds a very nice touch! If you're looking for a smaller, attractive fireplace/heater consider this unit. You'll get a beautiful cabinet, realistic fire (google Classic Flame, they've won awards), remote, temperature levels, and timer!

This hand warmer works well enough. Only reason for not giving it a 5 star rating is that it only works on the "high" setting for about 7 hours & the "low" setting does not get warm enough to make a difference. Otherwise, great product.

The device is smaller than I expected but packs a hot punch. Works great on cool days but I barely notice it when its colder out. It's kind of like a rechargeable "warm hands" if you've ever used those disposable hand warmers.

Best Deals for Sunpentown Portable Handheld Elec. Heater SH-113FB

This heater really works! However, if you're in extreme cold temperatures, 2 of these would probably be more sufficient because 1 doesn't keep you very warm. There are a couple of things that I wasn't too happy about:

1. When I unpacked this heater from the box, it came with the unit and charger, but NO operating manual.

2. This unit has a high and low setting. But, you have to experiment by how hot it gets because without any manual, you don't know if it's on high or low.

But, regardless of the 2 points above, it works well and I use it when needed in cold atmospheres! I know friends of mine have been very impressed and come to me when they "need warmed up" haha

I purchased this hand warmer thinking it would keep my hands warm it has two settings one that 100° in the other supposed to be 113° even at 113° if you're outside at a temperature of say 40° in the hands will still be cold it's put together the cosmetically fine operation features are really fancy it just doesn't get warm enough to keep your hands warm so beware

These seem like a good idea however the break down rate pushes the cost up with disposeables if you only use them once a week or so . There are many dual side warmers available now too . Switch on these is one of their weak points and if it goes their worthless .

I purchased 2 of these . Second did not work had to return . Did not repurchase .

This is a great unit and just like it states it is wisper quiet. Easy to read digital temp. Took about 5 min to warm a 63 degree room to 72! Takes up little space, I put mine in the corner and you don't even know its there. It is also an attractive unit that I don't mind having in any room of the house. The remote controol is a plus also. I Did not think I needed it, but now that I have it, I love that feature also. There is an easy to use timer on the unit also. That is a nice feature so you don't forget to turn it off when you go to work etc. I am thinking about ordering another one as this is such a handy unit. With heating costs this winter it is a money saver to use this electric unit to supplement your heat.

I bought this heater for my living room. I have central heat and air, but this helps me save money on my heating bill. It's slightly more expensive than other ceramic heaters, but it has an air purifier and a remote control. None of the cheaper ceramic heaters have those features. You don't realize how handy the remote control is unless you have owned an electric heater without one. You can make minor adjustments to its thermostat with the remote control. You can adjust the thermostat from 64 to 90 degrees. It has a big, bright LCD display on the front that shows the temperature and other information. Many people seem to prefer those electric oil-filled heaters, but some of them can take forever to heat up a room. This heater produces a lot of heat quickly. It's rated at 5,200 BTUs. A small air conditioner has a rating of about 10,000 BTUs. It also has the ability to automatically alternate between high and low power when it's in AUTO mode. It doesn't always use 1500 watts of electricity because of that. Sometimes it will only use 950 watts if a room is already warm. The Sunpentown SH-1508 is the best electric heater I have ever owned.

I would have to give this rating a one star unfortunately. THe heater while in itself is a great cost you must be warned of the manufacturing of the product itself. I have two of these heaters purchased within a few weeks of each other. One worked well, we were so pleased that we ordered another (my roomies and myself) unfortunately the first one came broken, making a horrible clicking sound and the company (SPT)has refused to help. Amazon did send a replacement for the first and then the second one arrived making an horrible buzzing noise. Amazon was not willing to replace this one. Today is the 8th week of owning both the heaters. THe first one's face plate caught fire today because of poor wiring used in the assembly of the heater, and the second one I am afraid will do the same. This product almost set fire to my house and everything that we own.

I cannot reccomend this product to anyone. Although the price is fine (money wise) is it really worth risking far much more than sixty something dollars if it costs you your life? I do not think so. I am so upset by this that I will write to amazon.com today strongly recommending that this product be removed from their site. Because if three products have thus far been malfunctioning who knows how many more of these are out there will similar situations. So far I have found over 200 similar stories about this product. Thank you for your time and I wish you the best of luck in finding whateever it may be that you are looking for.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Honest reviews on Sunpentown SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer

This machine is larger than many ceramic models but nice looking and heats very well. The fan is very quiet. I like that you can use it as a fan without heat as well. My only complaint is that the blue LCD that tells the temperature does not dim or shut off and is VERY bright. Too bright for a bedroom. Really lights it up. I'll be looking for some way of safely masking it. Otherwise very nice but hope it lasts.

OCTOBER 08' UPDATE:

2 California coastal winters (mild and short) and it's dead. Well not dead, but working erratically (noisy, not shutting off when the room reaches the Auto shut off temp, ...) No longer safe or usable.

For the bright light, I masked it with electrical tape. Safe and effective.

After reading dozens of reviews on dozens of heaters, I gave up and ordered what looked good. So far, I very happy with this one. Although assembly was indicated, it came fully assembled. It heats my son's bedroom (10 x 12) in very short order and it takes the chill off my living room (16 x 22). I switched to a pellet heater as my primary fuel and there are some areas of my home that just stay cool. I'm confident this will do the job on all but the coldest of days (Mid-Michigan). The directions are easy to understand and the remote is simple to use. The only drawback is the LED panel is super bright for my sleeping preference (great nightlight for a kid) and when the timer (max 7.5 hour) shuts the unit off, it seems to erase the preset room temp. It then defaults back to 75 degrees. Could be I haven't figured it out yet but either way, that's a minor thing to me. Overall, I think I got a good deal on a good heater.

I bought this range about 6 months ago,we use it everyday this little thing can get pretty hot,we use it to cook deer meat most of the time,I like the part that you can actually take it apart and clean it easy, and its made out of stainless steal,my only complane is the adjusting nob you have to get use to it,I mean controling the temperature takes a little time to get use too..

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I read the reviews of all of the other single burners and this one had only two reviews at the time I made the decision to purchase. The reviewer who said they used it for 6 months to cook deer meat is the one that convinced me. I just received this today and decided to cook sloppy joes out on my patio. Unfortunately, I only had a pound of frozen ground beef, so I put it in a skillet on top of the Toastess burner (set to the highest setting) and waited to see what would happen. Surprisingly enough, the Toastess began browning the frozen ground beef almost immediately. It was cooking as well as, if not better than, my regular stovetop.

It didn't take long at all for the frozen ground beef to cook enough for me to break it up with my spatula. As I continued to cook it on the highest level and added water to the ground beef, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Toastess was able to maintain it's cooking temperature.

Once the beef finished cooking and I added all of my ingredients, I changed the temperature setting from MAX to #2 (there are 6 settings 1 through 5 plus MAX) to let the beef simmer and the Toastess handled simmering very well too.

I can't rave enough about this product. The stainless steel finish looks great and it cooks as well as it looks. I wish I could give it a rating higher than 5 stars because it amazes me that a product this inexpensive performs so well.

Very happy with my purchase!

Best Deals for Toastess THP-517 Electric Single-Coil Cooking Range, Stainless Steel

I've had this for four months and it still works great, after using a few times a week. I got it when there were only two reviews, both positive, and all the other burners had enough bad reviews to not recommend them.

It doesn't have as much power as a real electric stove burner, but it's actually pretty close and cooks a whole box of dried pasta, no problem; meaning it brings that much water to a boil in a comparable enough amount of time that it doesn't seem like you're waiting around forever. The thing only weighs about two pounds but it's pretty serious.

Temperature wise the burner is either on or off: it comes on full power for a while then goes off for a while, regulated by either a temp. sensor or a timer. Halfway between "1" and "Off" is about right for simmering, though you can still burn something below "1" if you don't watch it; much higher than "2" and it's constant on up through "5" and "Max". When it does come on, you can hear it make a tick and the green light is lit, so you don't have to guess. The instructions say not to have it on without a pot on it, I would guess to avoid overheating/damaging the coil. The coil is about the size of a small range top burner, but with less surface area/coil loops, as the photo shows. A very large 12 quart pot or a big frying pan is stable sitting on it as well.

The photo looks like the top may be brushed stainless steel, which it does turn out to be. So you don't have to worry about melting the plastic top with a wide pan, as reviewers have said of other burners; also the bottom black part is metal. The enclosure can get fairly warm during use, but certainly not enough to burn yourself.

It looks like you could take out one screw and maybe get the coil out, or at least lift it to clean underneath, but I haven't tried, or there's a nut on the bottom that holds the two enclosure pieces together. It has rubber feet with decent grip, the cord is 43" to the end of the plug and it needs a three prong outlet. On mine, unlike the photo, the two lights are next to each other on the left end, otherwise it looks the same.

It does emit a chemically smell when it's on but that goes away for good after using it a bunch of times, and it's not really bad enough to stink up a whole room anyway, at least not for long, as the smell quickly dissipates. However, I don't know what it is, it smells bad, and I wouldn't inhale more than I had to; it does not smell like an electric heater.

Honest reviews on Toastess THP-517 Electric Single-Coil Cooking Range, Stainless Steel

I bought this range for cooking in hotels that do not have stoves. The range worked well, put out consistent heat and performed all the cooking tasks I needed. It is also lightweight and easy to pack in a bag. I would suggest the range to anyone stuck in hotels that have a need to cook their own food.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Toastess THP-517 Electric Single-Coil Cooking Range, Stainless Steel

When I first got this, it heated up very quickly. A 1.5 quarts of water in a 2 quart regular old stainless steel pot would be at a rolling boil in less than 2 minutes. The knob turns from 1 to 6, but even at the lowest 1 setting, it will be extremely hot. Food will be spilling out of the pot if you are not careful. Simmer does not exist. This is because the heat pretty much just cycles on and off but the heat retains in the coils very well. The pot of boiling water will stay hot enough to burn you for about 15 minutes, and it's just in a very thin, cheap stainless steel pot, not in some fancy heat retaining clay pots, or 3 layered copper steel pots.

With heavy use at about 3x a day for about 7 months, the thing finally started to die down a little. I could now use 1 at a low simmer and 6 at a boil. In the last month of its useful life, 1 through 6 was meager and barely producing heat. In my denial, I plugged it into different outlets to test the heat, but it was not the power outlet it was the dying cooking range. It had a good run, and because it is still a great buy for the price, I got a 2nd one to replace it.

Why is it greater than a $100 induction stovetop? I use stainless steel, copper, clay pot, cast iron, and sometimes leave it completely bare to quickly toast a slice of bread in less than 1 minute. Try throwing bread onto an induction stovetop when you toasted dies on you. You can't.

Pros:

+fast heat

+very high heat

+knobs and body of cooking range does not get hot, accidentally burning you. good design.

+red light to indicate if plugged in, green light to indicate if heat is on

+will heat up any type of cooking vessel

+doesn't take up much space

Cons:

+very high heat. will dry out your steaks

+lack of good temperature control for the first few months of use.

+difficult to clean because you can't get under the coils

For anyone who cares, the picture shows the power lights separated by Toastess logo in between, but actual product has the lights side by side on the left with the Toastess logo still in the middle.

I purchased this machine because I like to drink various drinks as the whim takes me. Tassimo allows you to do this. Also, most of the time I'm by myself, so don't need to make a large pot of coffee. Before I made the purchase, I was comparing Keurig with the Tassimo. The reason I chose the Tassimo was a) the price b) the T-discs were more available than the K-cups and the only K-cups the stores here carried were Van Houtte coffee, which I detest c) reviews said the Tassimo makes better lattes and cappuccinos. I'm extremely happy with the machine for the following reasons:

absolutely no mess

the availability of different brews, from very dark roasts to light roast, hot chocolate (which IS a bit sweet), teas, lattes (in particular my fave, chai latte), cappuccinos, espressos, cremas and even decafs I like a darker roast but was even able to find t-disks that were too strong for me

I like that I can have 4 friends over and give them their preference of hot brews

the tank is big enough that I don't have to fill it for each cup

the bar code reader means a perfect brew each time

the size is relatively small, smaller than my old espresso machine and my regular drip coffee machine (both of which have now been sold off)

you have a cup of coffee in a matter of minutes vs a drip coffee machine or even a french press

using just the cleaner disk, you can also simply spit out hot water for your own tea bags

most of the t-disks are a reasonable price, brewing a cuppa can be less than 50 cents a cup. The Starbucks disks are more expensive, taking you closer to a dollar a cup, but what the hey, what did you pay the last time you actually went into a Starbucks? :)

Cons and yes, even though I LOVE this machine, there ARE some cons:

most of the disks make a small cuppa (10 oz)unless you get the breakfast blends, which will make a bigger cup, or you can simply brew 2 disks.

the cup stand doesn't have finite adjustment you can fit a regular sized mug, the stand adjusts for smaller mugs, but then it's a big leap to a large mug. If you have a slightly bigger mug, you have to set it on the bottom and then you get some splashing

the foam is not as stable as coffee shop foams, but then for $99, I didn't expect it to be. As well the foam stability depends on the t-disk manufacturer as well. Nabob cappuccino was quite firm foam that lasted the duration of the drink.

t-disk storage takes up a bit of space but I'm still in the "try all the varieties until I find my favourite brew" stage, so I have a lot of selections at the moment

In Dec 2009, Tassimo is coming out with packages of just the latte cream. You will then also be able to use it simply as a milk frother if you wish, or you can make any of your favourite brews into a latte.

Aug 2010 this machine has been updated somewhat. The newer machines are a bit smaller, taking up a bit less room yet, on your counter. This is mainly due to a redesign of the tank. I just bought my second machine and will be taking the older one to use at work.

Apr 2011 I just had an opportunity to compare the Tassimo system to a Keurig. To be fair, the Keurig was the single cup model, which requires you to add water each time. I found the Keurig to be incredibly slow to brew, in comparison with the Tassimo. I don't know whether it's the single-cup model or whether all Keurigs are that slow. I didn't like the coffee, but do realize that different brews can be found in the K-cups, other than the one that I was provided with (Timothy's).

Tassimo has just released more T-disks, there are now decaf cappuccinos available as well as a black tea disk. As for the Starbucks disks being discontinued, I'm not aware of that as they are still widely available in Canada.

July 2011 I can now voice displeasure at Tassimo customer service. In Canada, when you purchase a brewer, you are promised coupons for two packages of free disks. I registered for my coupons, yet several months later had not received them. I contacted customer service again, now several months ago and was promised replacement coupons which I also have not received. If you purchase one of these brewers, DO NOT expect free disks with them. If you get them, bonus.

As well, I've noticed a swing in t-disk availability. T-disks seem to have dropped off drastically in popularity in terms of being available in local stores. K-cups have increased greatly. Though I still think the Tassimo is the better machine, I have now purchased a Cuisinart K-cup machine. At present I continue to use both. The K-cup advantage is the ability to use your own coffee blends, which Tassimo still does not offer.

August 2012 I have now made a complete switch to the Keurig system. My reasons for this are following:

the selection of K-cups is HUGE compared to t-disks.

Starbucks switched from Tassimo to Keurig meaning that I could finally get K-cups that I liked still don't like strong coffee, but too many of the other K-cups are too bland, forcing me to brew them at 8 and even 6 oz

never did receive my free t-disks, which really kind of made me angry

the second Tassimo machine now has the red light problem light comes on for descaling, but despite going through the treatment, the light has remained on, this is obviously an issue with the Tassimo machines

stores don't carry the full line of t-disks, so limited selection of t-disks AND limited availability

the Keurig machine tanks are a little easier to fill as they are either on the side or at the front top, instead of the Tassimos which are at the back, making accessibility difficult if you have it sitting on a counter under upper cupboards

I still say Tassimo has the better system, but they need to improve their customer service, their machine descaling light and their selection of t-disks as well as their marketing to major retailers. Keurig still does not do any foaming drinks and is still a much slower machine, but I find I'm using it more than I used my Tassimo simply because I can find a lot of K-cups that I like (iced tea, variety of hot teas, and lots of different brews). When a friend recently asked me which system I preferred I used the analogy that the Tassimo was like a Beta machine and the Keurig was like the VHS (yes, I date myself with that one!). The Beta machine was a much better system, but everyone bought into the VHS.

I have to say this item has impressed me more than any other kitchen appliance I have purchased in the last fifteen years.

Like all new "concepts", you tend to raise your eyebrows a bit about a new method of preparing an age old food preparation, whether it be a blender, chopper, or in this case the traditional coffee maker. Frankly, my only real concern was the future availability of the Tassimo Coffee "T-discs" as without them, the system becomes useless of course.

But after my father passed away two years ago, my mom began to drink "instant coffee" after being a brewed coffee devotee for over 65 years. Brewing 8 cups of traditionally made coffee for a single elderly person just seemed to be a big waste of time, as well as unused coffee. She seemed to be, a perfect candidate for this unique individual cup coffee brewer. Having tried this item once in an upscale Resort Hotel on a business trip, I was convinced to give it a try as an answer to my Mom's particular situation.

The coffee was absolutely WONDERFUL! She has fell in love with Starbucks Columbian "pods", but I also purchased the Verona, Cappucino, as well as the Expresso Pods and will continue to purchase new blends as they beome available. As my tea drinking Sister lives nearby and visits often, I also purchased the Twinings Chai Latte as well as the Earl Grey Tea "T-Discs" so she could enjoy a hot beverage with our Mom while they are together.

Although I traditionally grind & brew my own Gevalia Coffee Beans here at home in a 8 cup brewer, I decided to purchase an additional Bosch Tassimo maker for my home as well; as the availability of Expresso and Cappuccino brews is something I can now enjoy as I desire. Now, my Sister's best friend who lost her husband recently has tried it at my Mom's home, and they purchased her a new Bosch Tassimo maker for her home for her recent birthday gift.

Incredibly easy to operate, my 87 year old mother has no problem in brewing the wonderfully fresh hot brewed coffee she had enjoyed for over 65 years.

I want to thank Amazon.com for once again searching out yet another unique and quality made kitchen appliance that has become a big winner for our entire family of coffee and tea lovers. I just received an Email from Amazon notifying me of a new shipment of Tassimo T-discs that has arrived at their central warehouse which is just another way this fine Internet Products purveyor does an outstanding job for their regular customers.

THANK YOU AMAZON!!!

Easy to use, great tasting latte and cappuccino, much cheaper than coffee house, what more could I ask for? The answer is: nothing. Okay, maybe a smaller unit I can buy as a 2nd unit to keep on my desk at work.

Instead of spending $4-$5 dollars everyday for a coffee house latte on the way to work; I just make a double or triple latte straight into my insulated travel mug and I'm all set for the morning.

I also enjoy the bolder brews such as the Starbucks Verona T-discs. The Twinning Chai Latte is also excellent as an alternative to the daily espresso. If you go more for hot chocolate, I definitely recommend the Milka over the Suchard (which is way too sweet for my taste). Either works well to make your latte into a mocha. For espresso and latte; I prefer the Gevalia.

Maintenance so far has consisted of a descale after 9 months.

Honest reviews on Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer TAS1000UC

I've owned one of these for a year, purchased at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (I guess this qualifies as "beyond"). I'm not very impressed by this product, in spite of the hype and high price.

I bought this (instead of Senseo or Keurig) because it was totally automated, and had this way cool bar code reader. Huh... I also wanted Starbucks coffee, which wasn't available from the other brands.

First off, I've found that the coffee tends to be either too weak or too strong. The remedy for too strong is to manually add hot water, which is fine if you like standing next to the coffee maker with your finger holding the button for 15-20 seconds. There is no remedy for too weak other than not buying that product. There is no provision for manually determining the portion size; this is set by the bar code on the pod automatically.

Second, the pods are quite expensive, and not easily available. None of the grocery stores around where I live carry them, and very few "boutique" stores carry the coffee types I like, including the BB&B where I bought the maker originally. I've had to buy the pods mail order, mostly from Amazon. I've ordered a few items directly from Tassimo, and found that their service leaves a lot to be desired. Their shipping charges are high, even for ground shipment, and the items took over a week to arrive the last time I ordered.

Third, the "head" of the thing (whatever it's called) seems to require frequent removal and cleaning with soap and water. This can be a pain in the neck.

Fourth, there is no way to use your own blend of coffee or make your own pods as there is with the competition. You're stuck with whomever Tassimo negotiated. (For example, they don't sell a REAL cocoa mix; it's "chocolate FLAVOR", which tastes like crap to me). I also found I didn't really like the selection of coffees, even Starbucks.

In conclusion, I'd recommend one of the alternatives if you want a single-cup brewer. I just bought a Keurig from Amazon, and so far I'm impressed. I'm selling my Tassimo...

I like coffee but I don't drink it everyday. To me the coffee tasted pretty good. My wife loves coffee but drinks only like a cup a day. So take my review for what it's worth. If your lucky enough you can try a cup or sample if you know someone who has one or catch it on demo somewhere. The main competitor of this is the Keurig coffee maker which you can also catch on demo. These machines are great so you don't have to wash a coffee pot everyday for just a cup or two of coffee. If you drink a lot, then stick with the pot. These machines advertise no clean up. Yeah right... You need to rinse any parts that come into contact with liquid and wipe it. Still easier than washing a pot and filter tub. If you don't then your coffee will taste off and the build up will cause problems later. And not to mention that is just gross.

The difference between the Tassimo and the Keurig is that the Tassimo reads a barcode on the coffee discs and it adjusts the brew temperature amount of water, pressure, etc. and by doing this you can have a regular cup of coffee, espresso, make a latte, americano etc. with the milk discs. So you can make different types of coffee drinks. It won't be as good as the rob you blind coffee shops but still decent. Imagine how much money you would save after a month. But keep in mind, most of these type of single cup coffee makers make about 8 ounces of coffee. Most orginated for the European market and they drink like 4 ounces. You can manually press a button and send more water through but your coffee will be watered down. You don't have the option of buying your favorite flavor with a larger serving. There are only a couple coffee flavors out there that makes an average Amercian mug sized serving.

The Keurig is basically a drip machine. You choose from like four programed drink sizes and the machine will dispense as such. The premeasured coffee grind cups are more suited for the smaller serving. The bigger the size, the more watered down the flavor will become. Since this is more of a drip machine, it can't make an espresso or latte style drink. The coffee on the Keurig also tasted decent.

Here are some points that might help in the decission proccess.

Tassimo can make drip, lattes, cappucino, americano, and espresso type drinks. But remember, it won't be like from a real coffee shop. Just an imitation. Keurig, only drip. Both offer teas as well.

Tassimo small selection of varieties compared to Keurig. Keurigs offerings is huge. Keurig also has a reusable cup filter that you can put your own coffee grinds in and make your own so basically your selection of coffee is limitless. It comes included with the machine depending on where you buy it.

The Tassimo coffee is not as available in stores. You can find them mainly at Bed Bath & Beyond and Target. And they carry only a small selection. The Keurig coffee you can find just about anywhere and more selections.

If you drink mainly just drip coffee more than lattes, espressos, etc. Then probably better off with the Keurig and treat yourself to a real latte, espresso, etc. at a real coffee shop because it will taste better. If you like changing up and can live with it's not the real thing but better than paying $$$ for a cup. Then maybe the Tassimo. If a good cup of coffee with the fancy names is the world to you and you can afford it, then stick with what you are doing now.

I didn't bother to mention the other single cup disc/cup coffee machines out there because they are not as popular and you might be stuck with a machine that you can't find coffee for. Hamilton Beach now makes a single cup coffee maker unit and also a dual single cup / 12 cup coffe maker called the Scoop and the Dual. The single is a small unit that comes with two premeasured reuseable filters that you use to scoop your grinds in and then place directly into the unit but it doesn't have a timer. The dual unit is a full size coffee maker with a seperate single serve maker on the side. The dual does have a timer function that works for both sides. Both units have two brew strengths to choose from. The units can take the senseo coffee discs also, but be aware that the senseo discs are designed to be used with a pressurized system. The Hamilton Beach does not use pressure and you won't get the full intended flavor out of them. The reviews have been pretty positive on the Scoops.

So bottom line is flavor and availabilty of coffee. You can buy online also if you can't find what you like in the store. Something you should take into account if you don't live near any stores that carry your favorites. And mind you, the stores carry only a limited selection of offerings. You have to go online if you want the full line of flavors. And with Tassimo you are really limited in the stores compared to Keurig. Next time you go to a store, take a look at what they have and you will get an idea of what I am talking about.

Update: Starbucks did not continue thier contract with Tassimo, so your selections is dwindled down even more now with Tassimo. I down graded my review from 4 stars down to 3 stars now because of the even less limited varieties of coffee available for Tassimo.

I bought my heater after our power was out for days from an ice storm. No power = no furnace. I've had it for 8 years and would not be without one since it requires no electricity to operate. It turns a potential emergency situation into a minor inconvenience. We've just moved, and I'll be buying a propane model, now.

We bought this 30,000 btu dual gas vent free heater 4 days ago and it was said it would stink a little at first but after 3 days of eye burning stink and headaches -we turned it off and will take it back.

This is our 3rd vent free heater and the other two didn't stink like this.

We've left questions on usaprocom.com and no answer so far.
