We purchased and received this machine about a month ago from Amazon.com. Since then we've enjoyed using it. Set up was a breeze...nothing difficult to assemble. We wiped everything down to sanatize it and popped our first batch. While our first batch as decent...we had quite a few unpopped kernals (we didn't use enough oil) and have had to refine our technique a bit. The machine itself seems to be of decent quality for $200 bucks. It's worked just fine and we have absolutely no complaints at this point.

This is what we've learned in the past month that may be of use to others. If you don't use enough oil you'll end up with a lot of unpopped kernals. We use about 4 TABLESPOONS of oil with 1 cup of popcorn and it seems to be the perfect combination. One cup of popcorn weighs about 7 ounces and that's the perfect amount for my wife and I.....yes we do love popcorn. If you're not as much into popcorn as we are....you could probably give a nice treat to 4 or 5 people with one cup of unpopped corn and 4 tablespoons of oil.

One thing we'd highly suggest is that you use a product called "Flavacol" which is basically butter flavored salt. You add it right to the oil in the pot before adding the popcorn. We used about a level TEASPOON for one cup of unpopped popcorn and it was about right for us. It's the product that two movie theaters use that we asked....that's how we found out about it. It definately does give your popcorn that "movie theatre taste" we all know and love. We couldn't find Flavacol around town here....so we found you can order it from Amazon or Ebay or probably a number of other places as well. It's cheap...so no worries about the cost.

Buy this machine and go forth and enjoy !

Popcorn tastes as good as the machine looks. It is really an afordable way to go for a small store, church or such. We had used it at our local church for family video showings. We also used it for Bible school events. It has held up well and still looks great. It is very easy to use and clean.

I read the reviews for this and other 8 oz popcorn machines and decided that this popcorn machine would be a good value for the money. I think I was wrong. The first issue is with the drop down door, when opening the glass doors, it always falls off of the 2 little slots for it. Maybe I can install a couple of hinges to hold it in place. The second issue is with the kettle itself. It doesn't fit the 2 brackets hanging down very well. Also, the lids on the kettle flip up and do not fall back down as the popcorn is popping and about half of the kernals come out without popping. It may also be the depth of the kettle (it isn't much deeper than the 4 oz popper I had before this), I don't know. If I was using cheap popcorn, I would blame that, but I use the Gold Medal 8 oz packets.

I was hoping to make movie night more fun and making the popcorn less of a chore but in the end, I believe the 4 oz machine was easier to use and considering the amount of popcorn actually popped, was less time consuming. It's too bad really, I had high hopes that this was going to work for my family. The kids were able to use the last one we had but this one is too much trouble for them to even mess with. For the $225 (with shipping) I spent, I can't say I could recommend this model to anyone else.

This machine is exactly what I hoped, very well constructed easy to use, instructions were very Helpful especially with regards to the cleaning. I thought the cleaning would be horrible, but it is actually not bad.

The popcorn tastes great, we have been using the pre packaged 8 oz all in one packs from Great Northern....

Really pleased, really can't say enough good stuff about the machine and how well it operates !

We play poker every weekend at our house. We thought this would be the perfect item to have for snack while we played. So far (1 month) it has been the greatest. The house smells like popcorn when the players arrive and the taste is unbelievable. We make two batches and it fills 10 adults for 3 hours of playing. I would recommend this for the home theater.

The imagery is real good and makes for a good fireplace insert. The problem comes from is when it's time to change the light bulbs. It requires some dis-assembly which should be no big deal but it is. After you dissemble the parts to get to the bulbs, it is still tight to get your hands in to unscrew the bottom bulbs. One was so tight

It blew up in my hands. leaving the screw part in the socket. Could not get it out. Tried to disassemble the box further to get at it better to no avail. Frustrated I bought a new one, to replace it. There was no guarantee, if I was able to get to it better that I would be able to get it out without breaking the plastic socket. I found it on sale on Amazon. So I bought the replacement. I have all the parts of the old one, I have another unused fireplace downstairs, when I get my basement ready I will reassemble it for looks...

Replaced an old wood burning fireplace in a 12x15 living room with this. I'm not one for tacky or gaudy; this is neither. Unbelievably realistic, attractive, and great source of heat. Couldn't be used to heat the house, but def takes the chill out of the room. Would recommend to anyone!

Very satisfied with the product. It was exactly as stated in the description. This is the second Dimplex electric fireplace I have. It provides enough heat to warm my entire living space, so I can keep the thermostat turned down so the bedroom stay cool.

I did A LOT of research before buying this portable a/c, and I have to say I am very pleased with my choice. I live in NYC where the humid heat is unrelenting, and the dehumidification feature does wonders. AlsoI have left the a/c on for days at a time and not once have I had to drain excess water. And, set up was a breeze. My only complaint is that the unit can be noisyit makes quite a bit of noise when the cooling system kicks on and off; so much so, actually, that after two minths it still wakes me up if I am not in a deep sleep. But, that is a small complaint in the midst of a mostly happy review. If you can't have a window unit, I definitely recommend this portable a/c.

I don't know if I've got a defective unit or not but I've had the thing running for nearly three days in a room about 250 square feet and the thermostat still says 77 degrees (I've got it set for 68). This is awful. In the morning I get colder air by putting a fan in my window. This is nothing more than a very expensive fan. I'm horribly disappointed with this machine and caution others against it.

Additionally, the exhaust kit doesn't fit my standard window opening and the exhaust tubing gets super hot. So, there's a battle between the marginal coolness of the unit versus the unendurable heat of the exhaust. Lucky me.

First year worked well. we purchased a/c heater unit. Winter came heater unit didn't work. Customer service would not do anything about the unit. 2nd year it could not keep up with humidity and leaked even though drained...read some reviews where it will not keep up with high humidity areas. Just for the sheer lack of customer support for warranty coverage I would not recommend this brand. Very disappointed when 3rd summer it quit completely...

Honest reviews on Haier HPR09XC5 9,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner

I've been using this unit for about three months in a 12x12 ft room. Initially I was just using it for a few hours per day, but for the past month, it's been running almost nonstop in the humid Northeast. I've never had to empty the water, and it has always kept the temperature within two degrees of the requested temperature setting. Even on 90+ days, I often keep the fan setting on the lowest option since it cools well even without the fan blowing strongly. The exhaust hose is warm to the touch (as all are), but it doesn't feel like it's radiating a lot of heat back into the room.

My only complaints are minor. First, the exhaust hose is configured such that the unit can't be placed closer than about two feet from the wall if you want it in front of the window you're venting it out. You may be able to get it closer to the wall if it's off to the side of the window, but I don't have any wall/floor space on either side of my window. Also, the display light is constantly on and is a blue light. During the day, this is fine (although perhaps a small waste of energy), but at night it's rather bright, and I have to drape something over it so I can sleep. These are certainly not issues that would prevent me from recommending the unit, however. I read a lot of reviews before settling on this one, and I still had concerns, especially about having to drain water. But this unit has performed perfectly!

I love it. It has a consistant sound that I can fall asleep to and it drowns out outside noise. It cools my room comfortably. It's a good investment, I'm happy I bought it.

Unless you want to spend your time messing with a totally unreliable thermostat than don't buy this heater. This would be an awesome heater if not for that problem. I also have one of their tower heaters, the kind that blow hot air and the thermostat on that one is better but not much. I don't recommend buying any Lasko heater that features a digital thermostat, they're all, as far as I can see unreliable.

I was looking for a affordable boiler for my kitchen counter. The Secura 4.6 quart seemed the best choice balancing price and capacity. You can pay much more for similar products, but I really don't know why you would. This appliance had stood up very well through nearly 3 weeks of heavy (ab)use.

Now, devices like this do a good job at having hot water available for tea, cocoa mix, instant coffee, ramen noodles, etc., but I was looking for an additional very different reason. I am in the middle of a most of the house remodelchiefly the kitchen and bathroom. I have no hot water heater and am still debating a single whole house on demand unit vs 3 point of use on demand units. Meanwhile, heating 3 qt sauce pans of water on a hot plate is getting old not to mention slow. That is the principle reason I purchased this appliance. I turn it on the first thing I get up each morning. In about 20 minutes I have hot water to wash my face and fill my French press pot to make coffee. I make sure it is kept filled all day long. We have hot water whenever it is needed to make tea, soup cups, wash some dishes, more pots of coffee, you name it. I have been heating on average 6 full pots of water everyday for nearly three weeks in other words, it is getting a heavy duty work out and it works perfectly. We have very nearly perfect pH water where I live so I haven't needed to use the cleaning cycle yet, but I have real faith in that. Any device that just keeps performing nearly round the clock for three weeks must be well made and, at least in my book, be considered dependable.

Turning to more conventional product performance concerns, it is very well insulated, as I was reminded this morning. I didn't use the last batch of water I heated up last night. When I unplugged the unit for the day at bedtime, it had been holding the water at the lowest setting (176F) for a few hours. My house is about 65F at night. When I plugged it in this morning, it brought the water back to boiling (212F) in less than 10 minutes. It couldn't have lost much heat overnight. If you lay your hand on the side of it while turned on, it is just slightly warm. If you have kids around, you needn't be concerned with them touching the housing. And there is no accidental tripping a stream of scalding hot water. To use the auto-dispense device, you must first depress the safety switch (unlock button) again, a good thing if you have kids around (or inattentive grown-ups). If you don't want to use electricity to dispense your water, you can use the big button on the top, just like on conventional thermos-type air pot. This is also handy if you decide you want a late night cup of tea right after you unplug it for the day. Something I learned last night. (No, 176F isn't great for making a cup of black tea, but it does a nice job on green tea besides you can hold the water at either 194F ideal for press pot coffee or 208F if you need it hotter.)

I am very pleased with this water boiler, both using it as intended and even more so using it in my unusual albeit temporary manner. Actually, having used this as I have, I would especially recommend one for anyone with an RV I have never been pleased with the temperature of the hot water in any RV I have been in when it came time to wash dishes. With this, I use 2 quarts from the boiler and add enough cold to make it possible to put my hands in the dish water. I have cleaned up dishes from making a cake and 2 batches of cookies along with my supper dishes from a single batch of dish water made up this way. And there is enough hot water left to make up a dish pan of hot rinse water at the same time. Even once I have the hot water heater(s?) installed, it will remain a new best friend in my kitchen. I love being able to have a fresh pot of press pot coffee in moments all day long. No more waiting for the kettle to boil sweet.

I have used but not owned the more expensive Japanese water boilers/dispensers. That said, for the unbeatable, reduced price, this thing works great. It's high capacity and boils water quickly and keeps it hot. It gives you hot water 24/7 if needed or wanted. What else can you ask for? I bought this for work and we serve hot water to an older crowd. Unfortunately the controls are going to be a pain in the butt. This thing "locks" automatically after 30 seconds or so and you have to press "unlock" to use it again. I wish there was a way to toggle this autolock on or off. Other than that, this is a cheap and nice alternative to those of us who don't want to pay $250 to boil water.

UPDATE:

Less than 17 months later, our hot water boiler is kaput. One day, it just stopped working. We unplugged it and tried replugging it which only resulted in constant beeping without any boiling. Not sure what broke or why it isn't working. Was great while it worked. Sucks that it stopped working after the warranty is expired. Wish I had spent more money on a better longer lasting quality product.

I've had this water boiler for a few weeks now and have absolutely no complaints. My boyfriend uses it daily to make french press coffee and I use it mostly to make tea, hot chocolate, and cups of ramen. This is a definite upgrade from my previous water boiler, which after working faithfully for 10 yrs stopped having water pressure. I love that you just have to press a button to dispense the water. My previous one only had a manual pump on the top. I haven't had any issues with cleaning or any sort of deposits or build up but then again, I've only had it a few weeks. I use mostly filtered water to boil. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Happy to have a good looking water boiler that doesn't look cheap and doesn't look like it's from the 80's with flower prints on the sides of it.

Honest reviews on Secura Electric Water Boiler and Warmer

Loved this water heater the first day I used it, then two nights later, a flood. Overnight, about a litre of water 'leaked' from the pot and flooded the countertops and wood floors.

All the lights were on, but the machine had switched itself off and the water was 'warm'. So I unplugged it...hoping for a reset and a working kettle. I plugged it back in and reboiled. About 25 minutes later, I checked. It had boiled...and boiled and boiled. The cabinets were 'steamed' to the point that the finish on my cherry cabinets were damaged. I had to pull the plug again just to stop it boiling. Now the water pump had stopped working completely and only the manual pump was usable.

I'd love to try again, but will stick with a conventional kettle next time.

I did extensive research on many brands of wood stove before we made a purchase. Long story shortthe chimney pipe and hearth were so costly that we were unable to purchase a more expensive stove. Tractor Supply has this model with the pedestal legs for $899. At TSC this model is called the "Magnolia". We have used the stove for several months now and here are a few observations:

1. It does put out a LOT of heat. Make sure the area you put it is large.

2. The air wash feature on the glass functions beautifully unless the fire is fully damped and then the corners get a bit dirty.

3. The blower on the back is loud. The variable speed function works poorly. It does push hot air nicely when the stove is heated.

4. The damper rod is a pull out vs a left/right slide making it difficult to "dial in" the damper where it works best.

5. The fire board in the top inside of the stove that redirects gasses is fragile. My wife cracked it in half the first week we had the stove.

6. It seems like 6 hours is about the best reasonable burn time we have gotten unless it is packed with wood and fully damped. (This is not reccomended)

7. The door latch and hinge hardware seems a bit weak. I will probably buy a few spares so I can have them when I need them.

8. I don't entirely understand the new wood stove science, but it seems like the firebox has to be pretty hot before there is any visible secondary burn of exaust gasses. (this can be viewed by fire coming from the little holes in the tubes that line the top of the firebox as spent gasses are reheated to burn)

9. Rear corner clearance from the wall for a corner of the room installation was 10 1/2 in. without any secondary protection. I followed that guidance with my install. When a decent fire is going the wall is so hot that I cant hold my hand against it for more than about a second. It's HOT!

10. FYI this stove calls for 26 in. of hearth in front of the stove. Most call for only 18 in. What this means to you is that to "pass code" for the building inspector you will need a bigger hearth. If you are installing the stove in the middle of the wall there are several modular DIY products that can accomplish this effectively and cheaply. HOWEVER if you are installing this in the corner you will be looking at a custom made hearth pad. I had 3 quotes with the cheapest one being $780. I ended up using 3 layers of Durarock to reach the appropriate R value on the floor and then finished it with tile. It was a lot of work but it only set me back $280 in materials.

We bought the stove for regular use to heat our 2600 sq. ft cape cod. In some ways I wish we had purchased a stove with more quality features and higher efficiency. This model only is rated at 68 to 73%. Many non catalytic stoves nowadays are 80% 90%. That's a lot of wood savings! Overall, its not a Harmon or Jotul but it is a pretty good value I think.

We bought the model 3000, the next model larger than the 2500. The 2500 and 3000 stoves look pretty much alike.

The quality of the workmanship is not as good as we had hoped for a US manufacturer.

1) When we unpacked the stove, we noticed that firerope (sealing the door) was unravelling. That should have been fixed before it left the factory.

2) When attempting to install the trim that goes around the base of the unit, we found that one of the pieces was defective because it was not pre-drilled for the screws that are intended to hold it together. I had to drill out that piece myself in order to continue the installation.

3) The metal that the trim pieces are made of appears to be about as hard as the metal the self-tapping screws included are made of. This means that during installation of the trim, when you attempt to tap the pre-drilled holes with the screws, the screws will strip (see other reviews for the same problem). One of the screws did manage to catch in the metal of the trim, but the screw head broke off. Ugh! I had to GLUE the pieces together. I spent HOURS fighting the trim.

US Stove should pay attention to the reviews and fix the QC problems. Luckily, we purchased the stove through 123Greetings and their customer service is outstanding.

We would had given the stove four or maybe five stars, but the attention to quality is lacking, so three stars is fair.

The heat output seems to be good since it is pretty much heating our 6,000 sq ft house (partly, though, because we built the home to take advantage of wood heat).

The stove's door opening is smaller than it could be, making it more difficult to load than it should be.

As at least one other review states, the air-driven glass-cleaning design works well unless the air is damped way down. This is my experience with other stoves as well, though, so is a common issue.

We like the flat top for heating water or for cooking. This was one of the features we looked for.

The blower is noisy and REALLY weak. You can barely even feel the warm air coming out. We use a different fan that we have blowing over the top of the unit to increase the efficiency of heat transfer. Over the decades, we have had numerous other stoves and inserts with fans and this fan is by far the worst. We lump this issue with quality problems.

Next time we will probably try another brand simply because there are some very nice units out there with proven quality.

UPDATE: 2/8/2013.

We discovered another design flaw in the unit. The firebox has an cast iron plug that can be lifted out to allow you to clean out the ashes. You simply lift the plug then brush the ashes into the hole. The ashes drop down into the drawer below. The PROBLEM with this is that the clean-out hole is near the left-hand side of the drawer. Every time we clean out the ash, they spill out over the side of the drawer into the unit below. They could easily have avoided this issue by CENTERING the clean-out hole over the drawer. We can't figure out WHY they would make the hole near the SIDE of the drawer instead of in the center.

The stove is generally performing fairly well, over all, with respect to staying together while burning North Idaho Energy Logs (which are MUCH better than regular firewood since they burn hotter and longer).

The front door did become stuck at one point due to the expansion of the metal. We had to pry it open with a tool and then use a grinder to remove some metal near the latch in order to get the door to open and close properly. This was another small quality issue, it looks like. We think this problem was a result of the extreme heat generated by the North Idaho Energy Logs. Previously, we were burning regular oak and maple firewood, but recently switched entirely to the Energy Logs and then experienced the door issue. The Energy Logs burn substantially hotter than regular firewood and likely caused unusual expansion of the metal, resulting in the misalignment.

We bought this model at Lowe's (which matched a lower price we found elsewhere) and have been extremely happy with it. It heats our 1700-foot house very efficiently. We find we don't need to use the blower at this time, but were glad it was included in case we do. We found the construction was also fine no problem like the other reviewer noted on the different model. We shopped around for a good price with good quality and thus far we have been extremely satisfied. We plan on getting a stovepipe thermometer to further increase efficiency.

Amazon did a great job with the shipping. Not to happy with the accounting department at Amazon but that's another story. Stove is great! Heats the entire 3000 sq. foot house with ease. Solid construction, easy to assemble, and very styish wood stove. Wish it would have come with a grate for the wood inside and not have to buy one seperate, but that's no big deal. Have no complaints.....yet.

The overall quality of my experience with both a pellet and then a wood stove from US Stove is that they are simply poorly made and that the company makes a great deal of money off of the price of their parts. And you have to watch to make sure that the stove you order hasn't been "gobbled up" by the giant that calls itself "US Stove". They may make stoves but I got burned in a different way than expected. Heck, robbed is more like it.

I bought this range about 6 months ago,we use it everyday this little thing can get pretty hot,we use it to cook deer meat most of the time,I like the part that you can actually take it apart and clean it easy, and its made out of stainless steal,my only complane is the adjusting nob you have to get use to it,I mean controling the temperature takes a little time to get use too..

I read the reviews of all of the other single burners and this one had only two reviews at the time I made the decision to purchase. The reviewer who said they used it for 6 months to cook deer meat is the one that convinced me. I just received this today and decided to cook sloppy joes out on my patio. Unfortunately, I only had a pound of frozen ground beef, so I put it in a skillet on top of the Toastess burner (set to the highest setting) and waited to see what would happen. Surprisingly enough, the Toastess began browning the frozen ground beef almost immediately. It was cooking as well as, if not better than, my regular stovetop.

It didn't take long at all for the frozen ground beef to cook enough for me to break it up with my spatula. As I continued to cook it on the highest level and added water to the ground beef, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Toastess was able to maintain it's cooking temperature.

Once the beef finished cooking and I added all of my ingredients, I changed the temperature setting from MAX to #2 (there are 6 settings 1 through 5 plus MAX) to let the beef simmer and the Toastess handled simmering very well too.

I can't rave enough about this product. The stainless steel finish looks great and it cooks as well as it looks. I wish I could give it a rating higher than 5 stars because it amazes me that a product this inexpensive performs so well.

Very happy with my purchase!

I've had this for four months and it still works great, after using a few times a week. I got it when there were only two reviews, both positive, and all the other burners had enough bad reviews to not recommend them.

It doesn't have as much power as a real electric stove burner, but it's actually pretty close and cooks a whole box of dried pasta, no problem; meaning it brings that much water to a boil in a comparable enough amount of time that it doesn't seem like you're waiting around forever. The thing only weighs about two pounds but it's pretty serious.

Temperature wise the burner is either on or off: it comes on full power for a while then goes off for a while, regulated by either a temp. sensor or a timer. Halfway between "1" and "Off" is about right for simmering, though you can still burn something below "1" if you don't watch it; much higher than "2" and it's constant on up through "5" and "Max". When it does come on, you can hear it make a tick and the green light is lit, so you don't have to guess. The instructions say not to have it on without a pot on it, I would guess to avoid overheating/damaging the coil. The coil is about the size of a small range top burner, but with less surface area/coil loops, as the photo shows. A very large 12 quart pot or a big frying pan is stable sitting on it as well.

The photo looks like the top may be brushed stainless steel, which it does turn out to be. So you don't have to worry about melting the plastic top with a wide pan, as reviewers have said of other burners; also the bottom black part is metal. The enclosure can get fairly warm during use, but certainly not enough to burn yourself.

It looks like you could take out one screw and maybe get the coil out, or at least lift it to clean underneath, but I haven't tried, or there's a nut on the bottom that holds the two enclosure pieces together. It has rubber feet with decent grip, the cord is 43" to the end of the plug and it needs a three prong outlet. On mine, unlike the photo, the two lights are next to each other on the left end, otherwise it looks the same.

It does emit a chemically smell when it's on but that goes away for good after using it a bunch of times, and it's not really bad enough to stink up a whole room anyway, at least not for long, as the smell quickly dissipates. However, I don't know what it is, it smells bad, and I wouldn't inhale more than I had to; it does not smell like an electric heater.

Honest reviews on Toastess THP-517 Electric Single-Coil Cooking Range, Stainless Steel

I bought this range for cooking in hotels that do not have stoves. The range worked well, put out consistent heat and performed all the cooking tasks I needed. It is also lightweight and easy to pack in a bag. I would suggest the range to anyone stuck in hotels that have a need to cook their own food.

When I first got this, it heated up very quickly. A 1.5 quarts of water in a 2 quart regular old stainless steel pot would be at a rolling boil in less than 2 minutes. The knob turns from 1 to 6, but even at the lowest 1 setting, it will be extremely hot. Food will be spilling out of the pot if you are not careful. Simmer does not exist. This is because the heat pretty much just cycles on and off but the heat retains in the coils very well. The pot of boiling water will stay hot enough to burn you for about 15 minutes, and it's just in a very thin, cheap stainless steel pot, not in some fancy heat retaining clay pots, or 3 layered copper steel pots.

With heavy use at about 3x a day for about 7 months, the thing finally started to die down a little. I could now use 1 at a low simmer and 6 at a boil. In the last month of its useful life, 1 through 6 was meager and barely producing heat. In my denial, I plugged it into different outlets to test the heat, but it was not the power outlet it was the dying cooking range. It had a good run, and because it is still a great buy for the price, I got a 2nd one to replace it.

Why is it greater than a $100 induction stovetop? I use stainless steel, copper, clay pot, cast iron, and sometimes leave it completely bare to quickly toast a slice of bread in less than 1 minute. Try throwing bread onto an induction stovetop when you toasted dies on you. You can't.

Pros:

+fast heat

+very high heat

+knobs and body of cooking range does not get hot, accidentally burning you. good design.

+red light to indicate if plugged in, green light to indicate if heat is on

+will heat up any type of cooking vessel

+doesn't take up much space

Cons:

+very high heat. will dry out your steaks

+lack of good temperature control for the first few months of use.

+difficult to clean because you can't get under the coils

For anyone who cares, the picture shows the power lights separated by Toastess logo in between, but actual product has the lights side by side on the left with the Toastess logo still in the middle.

Black Bar Style "Lincoln" 8 Ounce Antique Popcorn Machine (Bar Style)

I love popcorn and I didn't think it could get any better than popping it from my old cast iron skillet. Well, due to a health problem I can't use an iron skillet anymore. So I looked at about ten other brands of poppers and those that were comparable to this popper were like $100-$200 dollars more. So that did it for me, plus this one has a warming pan and heat lamp that make the popcorn crispy and tender some features that some of the others didn't have.

We had all the family for Christmas and the popper was in continual use they all just loved it--so what can I say, this is a great deal and the quality is top grade: stainless steel popper, the power plug is magnetic so you don't have to pull hard to get the cord off. The popper-pot comes our easily for cleaning, don't immerse the pot in water though, the instructions tell you how to clean it.

Well, that about covers it, oh, except one thing, it's 7 degrees outside right now and the days are dark and gloomy with storm, popcorn sure brings a smile to people's faces when they here it and smell its aroma; we throw on a movie and settle in while the wind and snow rages outside.

I really recommend this popper, oh and there's just me and the wife at home in case you're wondering about the popper being too big for small families--the popcorn stores nicely and it doesn't last long because its so tender and crunchy you'll be snacking on it all day.

It is going on four years since I wrote the above review; I just want to say that I haven't had one moments problem with this machine and It still pops the greatest popcorn I've ever eaten :-) February 12, 2011

I bought this popcorn maker for my husband about 2 years ago. He is a popcorn fanatic! We use this a lot. In summer we built a patio and it sits in there and many evenings it is whirring and popping out great popcorn for friends as we sit around a fireplace.

In winter it comes inside and continues to whir and pop throughout the cold winter months. Using the pre-filled packages is a huge bonus and is handy and easy.

We have lent out our popcorn make to the nearby elementary school to use on movie nights it is a huge hit because it smells just like being in the theatre. We used it at our town's summer festival and at our place of employment a high school. In the two years we have had it we have had no problems at all with it. It has been used a lot and is still working fine!

A fun gift to give and fun to use!

I purchased this popper 8 months ago. I am a preschool teacher and I host many fun parties during the year. This has been the best popper! It's big enough to do a great job but not to heavy to move around. I haven't had any mechanical trouble, only great popcorn to eat and serve. The preschool kids and parents love it. Not to mention my family! It was delivered quickly and was easy to put together. I looked around many places before I found this one. The price is a steal. I highly recommend.

Honest reviews on Great Northern Popcorn Black Bar Style Lincoln 8 Ounce Antique

We have had a couple of these types of popcorn machines, but we really wanted a 8 oz. So this was obviously a good deal and after reading reviews, I felt comfortable purchasing it. However, last week we go to use for like the 30th time (can tell by how many popcorn packets we went thru) and the light button just fell out. No damage, not even touching it, it literally fell out of the machine, plastic piece going one way, spring going another.

O.K., the warming light was nice, but not critical to our family popcorn night! So another batch later, when I emptied the popcorn kettle, I heard a loud POP. The pop wasn't some last kernel, but the kettle button literally popped off and shot across the room! This time the switch inside broke some small metal piece and now I literally I have a popcorn paper weight.

My last cheap-o popcorn machine lasted 3 times longer, before we SOLD it. I have a hard time believing that this was the "one" that was made on Friday night, when the machines were in a hurry (bad joke, but go with it). In all seriousness, this seems to me like it is a manufacturing flaw and will happen sooner or later on this unit. Felt I needed to write my first review and let everyone know my experiences.

I had high hopes for this product based on other reviews. It arrived quickly, I did not unpack it as it was a Christmas gift. When we set it up, the kettle did not work out of the box. This happened to others who have ordered this product. I have to assume that they do not do even a cursory quality check on this popper before it went out. If they would have plugged in the kettle, they would have seen that it was not working in 30 seconds. Although, this Christmas gift was now ruined, I expected that I would call their customer support line and they would rush me out another kettle to make the situation right as quickly as they could. It took me 6 calls and an email to get through to a human. They not only would not send me a new kettle, they wanted me to pay for the shipping AND for the new kettle, even though IT HAD NEVER WORKED! I am now shipping back the entire popper so that I will never have to deal with that level of "customer support". It is certainly shoddy craftsmanship (The glass doors were also miss aligned.) and borderline dishonest of Northern Popcorn. They were an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with.

I needed to heat the finished portion of my basement. There is some residual heat from the furnace located behind closed doors in the unfinished portion of the basement, but not nearly enough. I live in Massachusetts and the temperatures outdoors lately have ranged from overnight lows of 14 degrees to midday highs of 35 degrees or so. The finished portion of the basement consists of two rooms with a large opening between them (no door). The space is about 550 sq. ft. total. After initially trying a Lasko 758000 cyclonic ceramic heater, I found that model could only get the space to about 65 degrees after letting it run for 24 hours. This low-profile model, however, warmed the space from 65 to 70 degrees within 30 minutes of turning it on. It has now been close to two hours, and the room temp. is holding steady at 69 degrees. Unlike the cyclonic ceramic, this heater runs absolutely silently. I recommend this model to anyone with similar needs.

I've had this heater for almost 2 years. It is great as a bedroom heater and very quiet. My only issue with it is that if you turn it on and don't set the temperature it defaults to turning the heating element on constantly until you make an adjustment or turn it off. I feel like this is a dangerous default operation and that it should default to having the thermostat set at the last temperature that you used (e.g. turn it on and it's already set for 68 degrees instead of in FULL ON mode). I have turned it on and forgotten to set the temperature a few times and woke up in the middle of the night to my room at 90 degrees. Yikes.

If ever a product deserved a one star review it is this one.

I purchased two of these at the same time to use in my kids rooms to keep them a little warmer at night during the winter months.

The first one worked for two weeks then inexplicably began turning itself off after 5 minutes. I tried resetting it per the manufacturers instructions but it continued to run for no longer than 5 minutes before it would go into protect mode and shut itself off.

The second one worked for three weeks before it had a fault that caused it to bypass the set temperature and run continuously all night! I went into my toddlers room to wake her up in the morning and found it was near 100 degrees in her room! I tested the unit out downstairs and sure enough even with the set temperature at 80 degrees it would just keep on running.

I contacted Amazon and they were awesome as always and refunded my money for these two units.

Honest reviews on Lasko 5624 Low Profile Silent Room Heater, Black

Bought 2 one for the dining room (3 parrots live there, no dining allowed) and one for my 14x16 bedroom. Both are crazy-quiet, and warm a room quickly. It's not a dry heat like a fan-based heater puts out, but a general warmth that I assume is the convection heat doing its thing. I leave both unattended at night, and the one in the dining room runs constantly no worries as it's not a hot-heat, and is made very well.

I gave this 4 stars because I feel the electrical cord is fairly short 6' maybe. You can't use an extension cord with it, so it does limit placement.

This heater was purchased for $ through Amazon ()and meets our expectations. We live in Orlando, Florida and purchased this heater to keep the master bedroom warm at night so we do not have to turn on the heat pump and heat a two story house with 3,300 square feet. Our average electric bill is always over $300 a month and this heater is a money saver! The bedroom is 13'X20'; we close the doors to the hall and bathroom and the unit works well. Since the heater's digital temperature gauge is within inches of the heat source one must set the thermostat 2 to 3 degrees above what you want the room temperature to be. The unit turns on 1 degree below where it is set and off at 2 degrees above set point. It is very quiet since there are no moving parts. It has a long electrical cord a good thing since you cannot use an extension cord with it. While we seldom get very cold temperatures in Orlando the heater performs well when it is in the 30's outside. Often we turn on the ceiling fan on low and it makes the room a uniform temperature without any cold spots. This heater is paid off in a couple of months if you can reduce the house thermosat or turn it off as we do at night.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program UPDATE: Days are now colder and I am demanding more of my foot heater. The Fellowes Heat & Slide Footrest doesn't do an adequate job of keeping my feet warm (I have to slide my foot around the footrest to find the heat). On the flip side, my favorite foot heater (Vornado, see below), does an excellent job of keeping my feet warm (& I love the fan). I've down-rated the Fellowes from 3 stars to 1 star. Spend your money on the Vornado & you won't be disappointed.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I LOVE a good Foot Heater & have been using the Vornado EH1-0039-06 225-Watt SoleAire Foot Rest and Personal Space Heater for the past 3 years in my office. The Vornado has a fan & does a great job of distributing heat. The only drawback of the Vornado is that it has a fixed foot position & if you try to move the footrest, sometimes the rubber feet with come off & you have to bend down to put them back in.

This Fellowes Foot Heater does not have a built in fan & warms your feet with a gentle warmth that takes a little time to get warm once you turn it on. The heat seems to come from the middle (around your foot arch) & mine seems to be warmer on my left foot side. The foot heater does an OK job but you have to be shoe-free to enjoy the gentle warmth that this machine provides.

The Fellowes heater gives the user the ability to adjust their foot position, which is a nice feature. However, the heater moves fairly easily, so it seems that I am constantly adjusting my foot position & sometimes have to bend down under my desk to adjust it by hand.

I have let the "time" expire on the foot heater a couple of times. When that happens, the red button flashes. The first time this happened, I simply pushed the flashing button & it stopped. The second time, I had to unplug the unit a couple of times before I could get the button to stop flashing.

I will use this Fellowes heater in my home office because it is here. If I had to choose the Vornado over the Fellowes (price not a factor), I would choose the Vornado without hesitation.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The Fellowes Heat and Slide Footrest is no beauty to look at, so if you can hide this black and gray plastic footrest, that's for the best. It snaps into place very quickly and includes four floor protectors to keep from marring the floor or denting the carpet too badly. The knobby textured surface for one's feet looks like a blown up toad's back but the bumpy protrusions do feel pretty good on one's soles.

The heat is pretty subtle, as you can feel some warmth but not so much as to make you dance about. In fact, the best aspect is that you turn it on and just forget about it. I tend to slide it back and forth a bit, so I hope the plastic channels are durable. The automatic off setting for the heater is a thoughtful default.

I expect as the days cools down, there may be some degree of competition between the cats and me for using this footrest, and if it holds up, this footrest is a nice creature comfort. Be careful not to use it to peer into the upper reaches of a closet or top of a bookcase---this footrest will buckle and bend under any real weight.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My office is located in the corner part of a building and three sides are brick walls. Fall and Winters are terribly cold. It is so cold that I have a portable heater always blowing on me. Since I got the Fellowes Heat and Slide Footrest, the days for double socks are long gone. The Fellowes Heated Footrest Provides heat on top and below the footrest. That means you can be working away at your desk and and rubbing your feet on the the massing bumps on the top of the footrest and reviving the circulation in your legs and feet. If the massage is not your thing, you can just place your feet below the footrest and let the heat hit the top of your feet.

It is amazing how just warming your feet can have a warming effect on the rest of your body. Besides giving warmth, improves leg circulation, offers support and overall posture while reducing the chances of lower back problems.

There is an auto-off feature turns off the unit after 8 hours of use, so no need to worry after you got home if you forgot to turn it off. Hands-free operation. It loses 1-star because I wish it had some kind of controlling the heat settings.

I just love how all the girls at work are jealous of my heated footrest. :-)

Honest reviews on Fellowes Heat and Slide Footrest, Black/Grey (8080901)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program In their eagerness to avoid lawsuits and setting customers on fire, the people at Fellowes have created a heated footrest that doesn't particularly work. Bulky, unattractive, exuding the heat of a used oven mitt, this Heat and Slide Footrest is an almost total misfire. Read on for the details:

APPEARANCE/ADJUSTABILITY: Cumbersome and ugly. The footrest is relatively lightweight, which is nice. The adjustable top is jerky but does stay in place fairly well.

HEAT: On top of the unit is best, with a distinct heat emitting from most of the surface. The only problem is, you are supposed to wear your shoes (see photo at top of product page), according to their instructions. Through shoes you are not going to feel this level of heat, and the "massage" bumps are meaningless. Underneath the unit there is almost no heat whatsoever, despite the promises of the product page. Pretty much nothing is happening (sparking my sister to wonder if our unit came broken. I don't think so, as other reviewers noted the same problem.)

So there you have it. Use it as they tell you to, and it won't work. There are better heated footrests on the market and so there is no point to wasting money on this one. More or less useless, and rating:

GRADE: D

It also makes a weird snapping noise from time to time.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program While this footrest does a fair job of warming your feet, I wouldn't call it a necessary item for your daily use in a drafty office or home. It takes quite a while to actually get your feet warm using this device; though when they do get toasty, they stay that way. If you are strictly looking for a footrest, I would say there are better devices for that application. I guess I was hoping it would be more practical than it actually seems to be. Nonetheless, it does work for the purpose in which it was designed.

This is a nice flexible hose. I use it to connect my portable garage heater. It comes with the male quick connect on one end & a 3/8 male flare on the other end. It also comes with the female quick connect fitting.

The hose replaces all the connections to my RV LP appliances and the quick disconnect adapts to the low pressure side of the regulator. I am using two of these hoses for my motorhome propane tank and the outside portable grill and stove top that I carry with me. So much better than having a separate tanks and regulators

I just needed a quick disconnect hose for my large burner (turkey fryer essentially, although I brew beer using it). I already had one for my grill. Everything in my system used and needed 3/8" pipe thread. This hose totally delivered. Nothing fancy, but solid construction, sturdy components, and plenty of length at 12 ft. Although one size was the 3/8" flare female (the side opposite the quick connect), it came with a coupler that converted the flare to pipe thread. So everything fit without sending me to the hardware store and now my problems are solved.

I purchased this hose to connect my Weber Genesis grill to my house propane system. The packaging clearly stated that the hose was suitable for use with LP and natural gas. However, the markings on the hose itself only indicated it was compatible with natural gas. Due to safety concerns, I returned it and bought an MB Sturgis hose sold right here on Amazon.com ASIN number B007JYZKKA. The Mr. Heater hose is made in China while the Sturgis hose is made in St. Louis, MO. The Sturgis hose is clearly marked for use with both LP and natural gas and is standard equipment on new Weber natural gas grills.
