I used this item under my desk all last season instead of a typical space heater. I am an energy conscious person and I knew that most small space heaters start at around 1000 watts. They blow hot air which promptly rises to the top of the room. Ironic since most people are complaining about their cold feet. Because this item only draws 90-120 watts, it can very safely be run through a timer. This allows you to have it automatically turn on just before you arrive at the office and turn off when you leave in the evening. There is an odor associated when you first begin using it but it does fade in time to be almost un-noticeable.

The low priced version from Amazon.com was temporarily out of stock so I had to buy the 36" by 16" heated mat from another seller.

NOTE: Rating lowered to two stars due to lack of durability (see update at bottom)

WHAT'S IN THE BOX

The mat with plug and lighted rocker switch plus a set of directions.

I also bought the optional plug in high-low switch which is really a good idea. I will tell you why shortly. I use my mat on top of wall to wall carpeting at the foot of my recliner. It's perfect for the four season family room where I have it sitting in front of my recliner on a carpeted floor although I am debating putting the heated mat under a throw rug. The room has plenty of glass so the thermal transfer is not optimal for cold and windy nights.

Pros -Warms up quickly, no smell from the rubber mat as others have reported. Not only are your feet kept warm but the entire area of personal space warms up to a nice cozy feel. Mat has an on-off switch which lights up when on and goes off when turned off. The optional high-low switch provides plenty of heat on high if your toes get cold. Best way to use it is to turn it on HIGH for a 15 to 30 minutes to warm things up and then switch it to the LOW setting for ongoing warmth. What a great device. It works like it claims.

Cons -None other than the black rubber mat decor theme won't win any awards from home decorating magazine editors. I will try tucking it under a more stylish rug.

Summary: You will like the mat. Do yourself a favor and buy the high-low switch for regulating the temperature on a floor where you walk around in your bare feet or with socks. If you use this on a cement floor, you'd want it at max output just to keep things warm.

One word of caution for anyone getting the idea of using this in a bathroom to warm you feet when you get in and out of the shower. There is no GFI or grounded plug! It's a simple two pin plug so doing so wouldn't be a great idea.

Update 12-27-11

I really like this mat heater. After 3 weeks of use I have concluded the optional high-low switch is a must if you use this to warm your feet when wearing socks or only in bare feet. The high setting is a bit too warm for my liking.

Update 1-15-12

Still working great. I placed a bathroom rug on top of the black mat and it works great and feels better on bare feet or socks. The only downside is my pet bassett hound likes it too.

Udate 3-18-13

After one year of great heat the mat is slowly dying. One six inch section is ambient temp (i.e., cool to the touch) and the rest of the mat is luke warm even at full power. I removed the optional hi-lo switch from the connectin path and it wasn't the problem. I have no idea why it is failing, it just is! The rating has been adjusted to 2 stars because of its lack of durability.

I have had this mat in place under my desk at work and running on high for about a month. It works just as I had hoped. No more cold feet! The smell of "hot rubber" was very evident the first week or so. Even now, if I mistakenly leave it on overnight, there is still a very slight odor that is noticeable when I first come in the office in the morning. (The office is approximately 18'x30' with about 13' high ceiling and is kept closed up at night.) Perhaps with another month or two of use, the smell will go away entirely, but even if it does not, it is not a deal breaker for me because it is hardly noticeable any more.

Honest reviews on Indus-Tool FWB Super Foot Warmer Mat

I use these in my home workshop in the winter. Standing in front of a lathe or milling machine in a chilly shop with cold feet is tough, but with this my feet stay cozy warm and this lets me work in short sleeves in the 50s which provides greater safety around machinery. I've used these for 3 winters now and am very happy with both the heat provided and the durability. I got an identical item from another online retailer.

Completely throwing all warnings out the window (oops), I purchased this with the intent of using it as an energy-efficient heating pad to put under my dogs' bed in the garage. It is definitely energy-efficient, but it doesn't put out much ambient heat. I had the product shipped to work, and it will definitely keep your feet toasty by standing on it! I definitely can't knock it for it doing what it's supposed to do really well! I may have to look into something else to keep my dogs warm, but I think I'll see how this goes when it starts to cool off again.

Also, without putting your face to the mat, there is no smell of rubber. Like I said, I gave it a test run at work when it first arrived. I had it under my computer desk and never noticed any smell coming from the mat.

I purchased the Dimplex DF3015 firebox to fit in a fake mantelpiece that I had up against a bedroom wall. The firebox measurements on the Dimplex literature were very accurate and I was able to easily modify my mantle's opening and its distance to the wall in order to accommodate the firebox. I purchased the unit here on Amazon and the vendor was Wayfair. A salesperson from Wayfair called to state that I would have to remove the unit from the tractor trailer myself and that I should have help on that date. Fortunately, when the truck arrived, the driver stated that this was not true and he brought the item to, just inside my front door, as opposed to curbside, so that was a pleasant surprise.

As far as the unit itself, I did notice a growling noise after about one week when the flame speed was set to very high or very low. The flame speed adjustment on the remote has 9 settings and the noise occurred on setting 1 and setting 9. I removed the front glass and the log set and found that the noise was coming from the area of the flicker motor and flicker rod. I called Dimplex and they sent me a new flicker motor. Interestingly, the new motor came with a rubber piece to connect between the motor and flicker rod. On the one I had from the factory, the flicker rod shaft is connected to the motor with a flexible metal spring. On the replacement parts, they instruct you to cut most of this spring off and to use the rubber piece to connect the motor to the flicker rod. I believe that they are using this rubber piece to insulate and prevent vibrations from the motor from traveling up the flicker rod and vibrating it as an assembly inside the firebox.

Regardless, I changed the motor and the rod and added in the new rubber piece. Dimplex claims you can cut the 5 wires to the flicker motor and splice in the new motor with electrical quick connectors that come in the replacement kit. This seems to be a Mickey Mouse way of replacing a part in a brand new 899.00 firebox. As a result, I went a step further and removed the back glass inside the firebox (its a tight fit) and was able to find the control board that the harness plugs into. (A complete .pdf service manual is available on the Dimplex web site). Then I was able to just 'plug in' the new motor (the replacement motor does come with a complete harness with plug if you don't want to cut the wires and splice it in).

With that done I would say that the problem was 95% resolved. On speed 9 there is, not a growl, but sort of a slight clicking sound now with the new parts installed but it was not enough to be concerned and I like the look of the flame on the lower speeds anyway.

The heater is claimed to be a 1500 Watt type but that is sort of a misnomer. With a Watt Meter I was able to see that the heater operates on a low and high mode depending on what the thermostat reports (the thermostat is actually in the remote control so watch were you place that so you do not get false readings). When the unit calls for low heat a 600 Watt heater is activated and a low speed fan. When the unit calls for high heat the units supplies 1200 Watts and a high speed fan. The fan is fairly quiet on both settings which is a plus for bedrooms. The unit does draw about 200 Watts when the flame effect is on and no heat is desired so at full heat the entire units draws about 1400 Watts (1200 of which is heater element output). A dedicated 15 AMP circuit is ideal but may not be necessary as the unit draws about 12 AMPS at full power.

The remote control shows a digital display of actual room temperature (sensed in the bottom vent hole of the remote) and it shows the desired temperature you want the room to be. If desired temperature is 1 or 2 degrees higher than actual room temperature, the low temp heater and low speed fan will activate. If desired temperature is 3 or more degrees higher than actual room temperature than the high temp heater and high speed fan will activate. Once the desired temperature is reached the heater and fan will stop but the flame effect stays on until the power to the unit is shut off.

The flame appears very realistic and you almost think that it is a real fire. If you want the fire without the heater operating you simply dial down the temperature on the remote to a lower temperature than the room you are and it the heat will stay off but the flame effect will be on. This model also has Purefire which is simply an air filter that the air is drawn through anytime the fan is on. To filter the air you can have the fan on low or high without the heater by simply activating the Purefire button on the remote. Actually, the Purefire uses the same low/high speed fan that is used when the heat is activated. So anytime the fan is on (via heat or Purefire) the air is always drawn through the special filter. Another words, whenever the fan is on the air in the room is being filtered.

There is also a button on the remote that will activate a dimmer for the fire box's inside top back lights. This can add to the effect of the fire and make the firebox look somewhat deeper. The remote has a sleep timer setting which will shut the entire unit off. This is selected from 30 min to 8 hours and at any 30 min interval between.

For safety the main power switch can be shut off (if you don't mind bending down all the time as it is on the very bottom right front of the fireplace). I mention this because at first I was not bothering to shut this main power switch, I was just shutting the unit off with the remote power button. Then I discovered that my cats were walking on the remote and turning the fireplace on at times. As a workaround, I had an electrician make the outlet I use (behind the firebox) a 'switched outlet' so I simply shut the wall switch now when the unit is not going to be used.

We purchased this Dimplex firebox and the oak mantel individually. We didn't like the cheaper firebox that Dimplex had switched to. The DF3015 is very attractive, although I have seen more realistic looking flames. Don't buy it for the heat. There isn't much there. Shipping from Wayfair was very fast, and when I had a small problem with the trucking company, Wayfair customer service took care of it right away. I would have given it 5 stars if it didn't seem overpriced.

The item looks very nice on the wall, but the fire doesn't really look real in my opinion. I was expecting a real flame, but this is just lights that make it LOOK like a flame, not actual fire. The only warmth comes from the fan which you can set to two settings. It blows out hot air from the top of the fireplace which makes it impossible to put anything else up on the wall above it. We have our TV up there so we cannot ever turn the heat function on. The fan is also really noisy which ruins that atmosphere. We decided to keep it as we cannot afford much more than this for one with real flames, but would not have purchased if we had more funds!

I received the Warm House electric fireplace as a Christmas present from my daughter. The fireplace stopped working 3 days later. Following the Instruction Manual, I contacted Midwest Trading Group via email for a repair or replacement. Midwest Trading Group gave me a number to call which was their shipping department. ???! The shipping department referred me back to Midwest's Customer Service who sent me to Groupon through which my daughter placed her order. Because of the back and forth, I was too late in contacting them (14 days) so they couldn't help. The original warranty was 30 days; all contact with Midwest Trading Group was made within that time, and during that time no one would accept responsibility for repairing or replacing the fireplace. I am now stuck with a 40 lb. handsome looking, non-functioning piece of metal.

Honeywell Cool Touch Oscillating Heater w/ Smart Energy Digital Reviews

I love this little heater! I bought this to help heat my trailer. It does such a great job that my furnace has hardly kicked on, even on the 32 degree and below nights we have already had! I really like how you can set the temperature and the heater actually seems to run and heat according to the actual room temp, not the heaters temp or the immediate areas temp. When I was out looking at heaters, a Lowe's employee told me that the thermostat is on the top of the heater so the closer to the floor you can place it the more accurate the heater's thermostat will read, so therefore the heater will run more accurately. I have mine set about 18" off the floor at one end of a 450sq. ft area. My thermostat is across the room and reads fairly close to what I have the heater set for!!!

I also bought this for the safety features. The outside stays cool and if it tips over it shuts off. I have a curious 1 year old so these features were very important to me. It also has a slim design so it fits well up buy the wall out of the way. It is pretty quiet too.

I highly recommend this heater and intend to buy one for my bedroom as well!

Enjoy a softly warm flow of circulated heat by selecting this very quiet heater's oscillation that rotates up to about ½ circle.

Here's how it has been designed to save up to 35% on electricity, which means a small contribution to lowering greenhouse gases on the top of this heater is its Energy Smart knob that has six basic settings: -"frost watch" 65 F. 70 F. 75 F. 80 F. maximum heat.

On "Maximum Heat" the heater goes full force and does not save electricity. On the other settings the heater automatically selects the appropriate power level to best accommodate your desired temperature selected. As the temperature in the room approaches the set temperature, the heater will automatically lower the power consumption and provide consistent warmth without wasting energy. This also means your room will heat to the set temperature without overheating the room -a real nice feature.

The illuminated LED lights indicate what the current room temperature is. The "frost watch" automatically turns the unit on if the temperature drops below 55 F. to help protect against freezing of pipes or frost damage.

This heater also has an auto-off tip over switch and Overheat Protection; plus a 3 year warranty. And, its operation is almost silent and it's cool to the touch. Five stars for Honeywell's design and quality control of this Made in China product.

I bought this heater at Wal-Mart for $40.00 so Amazon's price is higher plus it doesn't include taxes and shipping. The unit itself is wonderful. I have a 15x14 bedroom and it gets my room up to 80 degrees in no time. It's not extremely quiet but it's not so loud that it drowns out the TV. I love the fact you can tell what temperature it is in the room right on the heater and that it swivels back and forth on it's own. The feature that was most important to me is that the front face/grill of it wouldn't be hot to the touch and no matter what the temperature it stays cool. So I don't have to worry about anyone getting burned or it tipping over on something and burning the house down.

I bought another heater (smaller) for my office cubicle and that one's going back because it throws heat but only in one direction and the front/grill gets hot. For it to be effective it would have to sit on my desk and that's not possible. So, I'll just pick-up another Honeywell. I highly recommend this Honeywell heater, I haven't had to turn on the heat so far and with these units I hopefully won't have to all winter long.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Cool Touch Oscillating Heater w/ Smart Energy Digital

This is my first negative review on Amazon. I bought two of these space heaters, and both of them failed within the first year. One turns on but the heating element doesn't heat up. The other overheats anytime it's turned on, then shuts itself off. Talk about poor quality control! I wouldn't waste your time with these Honeywell heaters; try any other brand first.

This is a good heater. I have it and it serves it's purpose good. What I wanted to say most importantly is that the cord is very long. What most people do not realize is that it is wrapped up underneath the base...so it is hidden. If you look underneath you'll see it...it's a storage compartment for the cord.

I've had this rice maker for about 7 months. I vacillated for over a year before making my purchase--not only was the price scaring me off, but this model had been on the market for a while and I wanted to see if anything new and even better came out. However, when I read the mediocre reviews of the newest Zojirushi models--and prices nearing $450!--I thought it was about time I bit the bullet and shelled out for this rice cooker.

This was possibly THE best purchase I've made in the past five years. I ended up getting it for about $30 less via the auction site that everyone's familiar with, but Amazon's price is pretty darn competitive. I opted for the 3-cup model because I'm by myself most of the year and wanted something that could handle smaller batches (as little as 1/2 cup in this case!) for when I'm just cooking for myself, but had the flexibility to handle larger quantities. This size is perfect for a 1-4 person household (3 cups of cooked rice is closer to 6 servings). Ease of use is amazing. I've made short-grain Japanese rice, short-grain brown rice, rice and azuki beans, and mixed-grain rice (a blend of brown and wild rices, in various combinations over the months I've had it). I use it pretty much every night for rice, and almost every morning for my favorite use of this machine: the most perfect steel-cut oatmeal you could possibly ask for. I did get a rice-cooker cookbook to help me fine-tune my ratios, but I find that the best oatmeal is if you use 1.5:1 water/oatmeal ratio, then stir in 1/2 c. whole milk once it's done cooking and let it "warm" for another 5 min. I have had rave reviews about my oatmeal and it's so. darn. easy.

Like another reviewer mentioned, if you add in flavors (in my case, cinnamon/vanilla for the oatmeal, I haven't played around much with savory fare save for plain rice) there's a bit of a ghost of that flavor the next time you make plain rice. I think it might be because of the silicone seal to the steamer lid. I don't mind it much, and I suppose if you're VERY sensitive to any sort of flavor (it only lasts the one batch) you could run a small (1/2 c.) batch first to "steam" out the flavors--this seems wasteful to me, but it's an idea to try if this is an issue for you.

The rice itself comes out absolutely perfect. You'll be amazed at how much flavor this little machine draws out of white rice and brown rice. I was never a huge fan of brown rice (too mealy/chewy) but when I make it in this bad boy, it's so, so good. You'll be a convert!

My favorite part of this machine is the cleanup. If an appliance is too fiddly to clean, I know it'll end up gathering dust--but this machine couldn't be easier. There's a detachable inner lid that catches the splash from the cooking rice that I wash right away, and I remove the steam cover in the back (this sounds arcane, but it's snapping two things off and takes about 3 seconds; the manual is great for explaining it). Then I let the actual nonstick bowl dry out. You heard me--I let it dry on there. Then, it's as easy as wiping out the rice "paper" film you've made with a paper towel. Seriously. Even with oatmeal that would normally cake on there: don't soak, don't scrub, just wait for it to dry. The couple times it's stuck, I just fill it with warm water in the sink for 15min and it washes right off. The nonstick on this bowl is absolutely fantastic. I'm very careful never to bring anything metallic in contact with it, but I hear through the grapevine that Zojirushi is excellent about shipping out replacement parts if you ever need them.

I recently purchased this product from an Amazon merchant and love it! Since I've started incorporating more whole grains into my diet, and being a rice-lover, this item appealed to me from all I'd read, and the GABA rice setting is what really sold me. I've successfully used it to cook Lundberg short grain brown rice on the GABA setting, hulled barley on the GABA setting, organic millet, and whole oats on the GABA setting. There aren't instructions that specifically direct you as to how to cook these particular grains using this product, and the barley I cooked needs to have the amount of water I used the first time tweaked for perfection, but I'm really excited about having the use of this rice cooker for other whole grains. I intend to try whole buckwheat next. One thing that is very nice about using this gadget is that there is no wasting of water lost to steam from over-boiling in order to thoroughly cook these grains. I highly recommend this product for people, like me, who dedicate a large portion of their dietary needs to whole grain consumption... just experiment with the amount of water until you get it just the way you like it, and remember that less water than you'd ordinarily use will probably work with this machine. You just add the grains and water, set it appropriately, and let it do its thing! It shuts itself off automatically at the end of its cooking cycle, and keeps the grains warm, moist and unburnt, until you're ready to eat them.

I don't leave comments or reviews for many of the products I buy. But when I do.. the product is exceptional...

The Zojirushi NP-GBC05 has simplified my life greatly!!! If you desire/want to make brown/wild rice and steel-cut oats on a regular basis, this thing will save you DAYS of cooking in just a years time. Once you start eating steel-cut oats, you will never go back to the soupy, mush that is rolled oats. Why don't people eat more steel-cut oats? Well they take almost 3 times or longer to cook. Enter.... Zojirushi Magic!!!!

For breakfast... the night before... I load it up with steel cut oats and water(3:1) and have hot, perfectly cooked oats at 8 am the next day. Toss in some dried/fresh fruit and some almonds and honey ... and...BAM! A breakfast for elitist champions!

After wiping down the non-stick container, I fill it up with white/brown/wild rice before leaving for work. Again, always ready(and again perfectly cooked) 7pm for dinner.

I'm not sure how many hours I wasted before this magnificent piece of machinery. And now.. I'm not sure I could ever go without.

Balk at the price if you want, but after INCREDIBLE 50-cent breakfasts (oats and fruit) this thing pays for itself in no time. Not to mention the HOURS regained by not babysitting a pot of rice/oats. YOU CANT EVEN GET A ILLEGAL HOUSEKEEP FOR A WEEK at this price!!

Honest reviews on Zojirushi NP-GBC05 3-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer

NOT all rice cookers are made same. Not even within japanese brands!. This model is made in japan. and the rice comes out PERFECT. TASTY. YUMMY.

just figure out the rice water ratios, according to the rice you select:short/med grain, polished/unpolished, newcrop/oldcrop has different ratios nuiances.

This machine is beautiful and when ur done cooking there is NEVER any residue or nasty clean up. I always had that issue with my sanyo and LG rice cookers~ :(

I thought that was the norm, and i had to live with it. I DONT!

I am very particular about my rice, so i even got into a habit of stove top cooking it. but its work intensive :D and if u mess up, u mess up the whole batch ;p.

This IH system of cooking rice is incredible. INCREDIBLE! Every grain of rice on the sides or even at the bottom is evenly cooked with whatever is in the middle.

Even though there is 100 $ difference between the non IH model... its worth it if u eat rice everyday,

and im japanese so i DO!. I taste the difference in every bowl of rice, and i've had MANY!

I've had this product since it came out and I bought it on Amazon. I love it! Using fresh whole grains bought in bulk, I use this item as the mainstay of my meal preparation. The price is high, but it is comparable to having a good convection oven, which I don't use. The Zojirushi, Soyabella soymilk maker, propane stove, Bravetti, and a deydrator is all I use for meal prep. We pulled the oven out of the wall and use it to store whole foods.

I make quinoa, millet, and GABA brown rice in it. The beauty is that I can put the ingredients into it in the morning, then have the grains ready for meal prepp later in the day. I also take the time for GABA brown rice to reset the timer in order to allow more time for activation. That is the only thing on my wish list: a timer setting to increase the GABA activation time. Other than that, it is a setup and walk away type of appliance. I don't have to supervise the cooking process.

I am VERY picky when it comes to coffee makers and have trouble finding one that doesn't make the coffee taste like plastic. This one works fine for me. I owned a DeLonghi before this one for about 6 years and the new DeLonghis have suffered a setback in quality as far as I am concerned. I returned about 3 of them. The minor flaw in this coffee maker is that the water gauge is on the inside and it is a little hard to tell what the level is. It is also a little tricky to pour water into. That wasn't enough for me to return it though, since the coffee tasted great!

I purchased this coffee maker 4 months ago and it has worked wonderful so far. This is the 3rd coffee maker I have had in the last year. It told me last week to clean it and I did. Makes wonderful coffee set to my taste, and stays as hot as I want it to. Looks sleek and beautiful on the cabinet. Only drawbacks are you have to pour slow so you don't dribble (but only when I rush) and clock can't be seen in dark so I keep it unplugged when not in use. I hope it lasts as long as it is warranteed for but would take 2 years.

* P.S.: It is now Dec2010 and I have had NO problems with this coffee maker for 3 years. When it finally does break I hope the new ones are just as good because I plan to buy another when needed. Even with a couple of drawbacks listed above it is the "Best Coffee Maker I've ever had".

* P.S.S.: It is now Dec2012 and still no problems with this coffee maker. Love, love, love it. Just have to clean it a couple of times a year and works great. I broke the pot and ordered a replacement.

We bought this coffee maker less than 2 years ago. For the past few months, we babysat it to restart it during the brew cycle. Now it is completely kaput. In researching other coffeemakers, I see that most manufacturers have at least 10 percent 1-star reviews, many because of the short lifespan of the product. After having a Braun coffee grinder for 25 years and prior coffee makers for at least 5, I expect more than a 2-year lifespan for something on which I spend nearly $100. We are going back to stovetop boiling and dripping into our own thermal carafe no coffeemaker involved.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart® 12-cup Coffee Maker - Black Chrome Series

I read reviews obsessively and couldn't find the combination of features and looks and color I wanted (I got this in white), and settled on this one.

I was worried about how difficult it would be to pour water in b/c of the placement of the well, but what you find out is that the Cuisinart pot is perfectly designed to sit on the lip of the well and pour the water on.

Wish the lid on the pot were attached with a lever, instead of being a pop on and off affair... and if I break the pot oi doesn't seem like a cheap replacement.

Small minus points for plastic knobs with cheap feeling little silver lines painted on which look like they'll get stripped off.. As mentioned the water gage is inside and isn't the easiest to read, you just have to measure carefully before you pour in no biggie. And small minus for the faintness of the LED clock, and that to program the machine, you have to click TWO settings, not one, but still I'm more impressed than I expected.

And Big points for style.

Oh and no plastic taste here.

This is the best coffee maker I ever had. I was reluctant to spend $80 on a coffee maker. After living with this one for 6 months now I can honestly say that I would have paid a hundred for it and still been just as happy.

I have seen many people who say that the water gauge being on the inside is a flaw in the design and they don't know how much water they put in. I do not understand this. I am 6'2" and can see the water gauge fine. That said, I never look at it anyway because I use the pot to measure the water and fill.

Another "flaw" that I read in many reviews referred to the place where you pour the water being too small. Not the case. It is not tricky AT ALL to pour in the water. I use the coffe pot to fill it and I have never spilled a drop. I don't have to be particularly careful to get the desired result, either.

This is a great coffe pot and an excellent value for the money. It makes a GREAT pot of coffee!

UPDATE 6-25-12

I have now had this coffee maker for about 3 years and still love it just as much. It's a great coffee maker!

UPDATE 9-22-13

Still going strong!

The reason I got this fireplace was because it looks pretty good. We just had a spa set up in the basement. So we thought it may be a good display. Plus, the price is very good. So we decided to get one. The heater looks GREAT and fits right in our spa. And it is very warm. It does heat up the whole room. Our basement is approximately 400 square feet. And this little thing does its job. I ended up buying another two more. Now, I have two in the spa and one in our entertainment room. I highly highly recommend it. I am very very happy with this product. It looks elegant. And it is very sturdy. You can put miscellaneous items on it because the top is not hot. I only put a plant on it to keep the simple look. The top is not hot at all because heat comes out from the bottom. Trust me, I don't usually write reviews, but this is one of the best products I have ever purchased. One thing is I see this product in BJs at a lower price. The model # at BJs is a little different. The one from Amazon is DFS-550-0. The one from BJs is DFS-550-22. They sell it for $85. I tried to find this DFS-550-22 on-line, but not able to find it. So I THINK it may be discontinued already. So, whoever is interested in a fireplace, you may want to also check out the one in BJs. Not sure whether they are the same or not.

Performance: Heats a 350 sq/ft, 3 room travel trailer in about an hour. The thermostat is excellent and functions like a furnace. The fan is a very quiet hum. We left it running for 8 hours straight; the top was warm, but the rest of the unit stays cool. Only the grate in front of the heating element gets hot. When it reaches the desired temperature, it makes a series of clicking noises, and then the heating element (red light) shuts off followed by the fan. The remote control works great.

Appearance: It is an attractive design, mostly metal, with some plastic. There are 5 flame brightness options. At the highest setting the flames look very cheesy, but we enjoy the warm glow at a 2 or 3 level. The digital function display only lights up when you are powering the unit on, or adjusting a setting.

Cons: The metal frame is thin. The 'stove lid' above the heater causes a rattling sound. We added a little weight with a faux candle holder and river rock display, and that helps the noise. The rattling isn't bothersome with the tv on, but is a little distracting while reading.

Ok, yes I live in Texas and sometimes it DOES get cold here. I bought this so I wouldn't have to keep the fireplace going all the time. It's really cute and it keeps our 14x20 room very comfortable.

This towel warmer is well made and designed very nicely. One caution. I installed this on a wall where the bottom mounts were on tile and the top mounts were on wallboard. This difference caused me to modify the mounts. So be sure you can install this flush. Also, the wire can run through the bottom mount. I suggest getting this before you place your outlet, etc.
