It's on the middle to upper end of the infared heaters that are like this. It's great that it comes with 2 remotes (though you do have to provide your own batteries). It's quick to heat up and has a cool down feature when you shut it off so the blower stays on an extra minute or so. The thermostat works pretty well though since it sets at ground level the temps aren't overly accurate for keeping a room at a set temp. If it were higher up in the room it would probably do better.

As such I'd highly recommend it as it does work well and heats up nicely

This liner is very good quality and completely worth your money! At first I was worried that it would be a king, even tho is said Cal. King, but it fit perfectly and works great! It has a solid structure in the four edges so it holds itself up while you are filling up the mattress, and we really liked that. Overall, great product!

April 13, 2013 FOLLOW-UP REVIEW I have suffered with this extremely flimsy waterbed liner for the winter bacause I originally installed it last fall and did not want to have to drain and refill during cold weather. Now that warmer weather has arrived, I will be changing the liner within a week or two.

About all that I can add to the Original Review is that this liner continues to disappoint. It DOES NOT "Stand Up"!!! The liner material is so flimsy and the material used to try to stiffen the sides is so thin that each time I try to tuck sheets into the sides, the liner bunches down down toward the bottom and has to be pulled back up into place. This was not at all my experience with two previous waterbed liners that I used over a 20 year period prior to buying this piece of garbage. AVOID THIS WATERBED LINER. Spend a little more and buy something better. I am buying local this time so I can feel the thickness before going to the bother of draining my waterbed. The Amazon Marketplace vendor refunded my purchase price, so it's on me that circumstances (winter) has prevented me from replacing it so far. However, I also should not have to drain and refill my waterbed twice to change the liner due to a miserably low quality product. Shame on Amazon for continuing to list this product!

Sept 12, 2012 ORIGINAL REVIEW I would give this liner ZERO stars if that was allowed!!! This liner was purchased from Rick's Home Store on Amazon. It was advertised as 12 mil. Based on previous reviews, this seemed to be a very sturdy and thick liner, just what I was hoping to buy. The liner that arrived is approximately 5 mil thick.

Unfortunately, I did not realize its flimsiness upon arrival and placed myself in a bad situation by already committing myself to changing my waterbed liner before I fully handled this new liner. I then realized how the new liner felt very flimsy compared to the older one I was removing.

To confirm my "feel" of new versus old, I used my dial caliper to measure the thicknesses of each. To make a long story short, I measured my old liner (heavy duty feel) at 10 mil and this new liner (very thin feel) at 5 mil.

I then used calibrated feeler gauges to confirm the accuracy of my dial caliper. Finally, I referred to several articles and plastic sheeting manufacturer web sites to confirm that I understand "mil" plastic sheeting thickness measurements. "12 mil" is measured at 0.012 Inch thick.

I was sold a 5 mil thick waterbed liner a VERY, VERY cheap liner at a 12 mil liner price. As I mentioned earlier, I mistakenly committed myself to using this liner before I fully understood how truly thin it is, so I am stuck with a nearly $40 lesson (with shipping) in deception. I will be buying another liner of higher quality soon and will toss this one before it fails me. I am very DISAPPOINTTED.

This is the Best Quality liner that I've ever purchased! I recently moved and the thin liner that I had, ended up with many holes and rips. This one is Very Thick, made with Very Good Quality vinyl and the sides are taller than the cheap ones for adequate protection! I would Highly Recommend this liner!

Item arrived on time and was as advertized. Appears to be a very good replacement for the liner which I had for 7 years that needed replacement.

Liner fit frame well and looks like to will be good. Extra bottle of water conditioner is good, but it calls for partially filling the bed, adding the conditioner, then draining the bed and refilling. A lot of effort.

I purchased this heater about three or four years ago. It has worked trouble-free since then. It is compact for easy storage when the weather is warm, and it works very well for heating a small to medium-sized room.

It has a cut-off switch, if it's accidentally turned over, and it has a variable heat knob with a thermostat. It is also possible to run the fan without any heat, for simple air-circulation -although my Vornado fan does a better job.

I must admit that if I had read a couple of the previous reviews of this product before I actually bought it, I might have been worried and maybe not have purchased it. But my heater has worked perfectly with many, many hours of continuous use. So, I highly recommend it.

As for company customer service, I have no idea because I haven't had to contact the company for any reason.

Just one person's experience. I hope this helps.

this little heater is not inexpensive to purchase but it works as well as those twice and even larger in size. The porcelain "chips /wafers" , whatever , serve as the heating element instead of wire resistors as in other plug-in fan type heaters and I have not compared electrical draw but it's small, quiet, and it heats a space like much larger heaters would. I am very pleased with the product and would buy another if I didn't live in such a small space. Perfect for instantly heating your bathroom and it also has a temperature setting so you can use it to regulate heat in your space just as you would any temperature controlled heating device.

This is absolutely one of THE best heaters ever! I purchased this heater last year and absolutely love it! Two things that I was looking for in a heater were a tip-over switch and a thermostat...and this heater has both of those things. The excellent customer service was a bonus. I had a few questions and called the 800 number and got a live person (something you can hardly get these days). I noticed that two people wrote that their heaters caught fire, but maybe they didn't clean the filter? It has a dust filter in the back that you have to clean every once in a while. Anyway, I love this heater and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!

Honest reviews on WORLD MARKETING OF AM. HC451 DISC FURNACE HEATER

I checked with the manufacture before returning this unit for credit. The heater is designed go to a low power output when the desired temperture is reached but not to turn off. I like to leave a heater on in a small office to keep the chill off some plants during cool nights and weekends. So I don't forget to turn it on I leave the heater power on and the thermostat set to turn the heater on when the room gets chilly. With this heater not turning off the room gets way to hot on a relitivly warm day. With people becoming more and more energy concious I can't believe a manufacture would design a heater that does not turn off when it is no longer needed for heat.

Very disappointed! The control knob for powering on/off/fan/heat broke after only a 7 weeks of use. Poor Pelonis customer service that do not respond to emails. Shipped the item back to Pelonis (about $10 USPS), and a replacement was shipped back, very poorly packaged--actually no packaging, just the flimsy cardboard box the heater comes in.

I bought this heater because I have an original Pelonis Disc furnace that is about 20 years old... not heavily used, but always worked great. My wife wanted a heater to keep her outdoor cats warm in the attached garage during the real cold periods of winter. So I looked for another Pelonis disc furnace as I wanted to still use my original in the basement, and the newer models seem to have additional 'safety' features.

While getting this one replaced, I purchased a HeatSafe HS-4025 ceramic heater that I like much better as it has a lower 1000W setting as well as the 1500 Watt setting. The Pelonis HC-451 only has 1500 watt, which will trip your circuit breaker if being used by other electric appliances.

And the HeatSafe was about half the price of the Pelonis HC-451.

Oh yeah! The best thing for keeping your outdoor cats warm (I'm allergic to furry animals, so they can NOT be in the house!) is a "Heated Kitty Pad". I bought 2 of these for my wife's cats, and they just love them !

I am a Master Commercial HVACRefrigeration Mechanic .To be honest after I saw the price I said to myself why not ,this kit includes every thing except a vacuum pump and a pair of refrigeration gauges .I installed this unit in five hours .I inspected the high build quality of the cabinet, compressor, indoor fan coil unit ,set outside unit and wired up power supply from the house connected refrigerant lines to wall unit and the control wires are already connected to indoor unit so you will just need to secure them to refrigerant lines with the zip ties that are included and duct tape to the outdoor unit tightened all fittings hooked up the vacuum pump checked for leaks powered up the unit with the High quality long range remote and it cranked up without a flaw it cools a 13x18 remodeled sun room .The unit is very quiet ,the only thing about the instructions has the temperature measurement in celsius but you can convert it and I would recommend to vacuum the system down not to purge the system the secret to a long lasting system is a proper install and thats part of the job ,Over all compared to the Major manufacturers Its an equal to the big boys on quality.

I found out what the problem was with this unit I hired a second tech and he showed me where the freon had leaked out of. then he vacuumed the pressure and tried to recharge the outside unit with refrigerant and sure enough it leaked out of where showed me.

This is very inconvenient for my business' opening day

another thing wrong with the system was a thermo sensor he told me it is used for the heat pump.

*also this unit is not whisper quiet like advertised*.

extremely disappointed by amazon for the first time because now i have to go through the hassle of uninstalling this AC, Box it up and ship it back!

This unit was missing the mounting plate for the indoor unit when it was delivered, and the instructions have no way to contact the manufacturer. No county, no address, no phone, NOTHING! I don't even know where this thing is made!

My electrician was confounded by the wiring. Apparently the blue wires they use are not standard and should not have even passed UL.

I am going to try to return this but I threw away the boxes and it weighs a ton. This was a mistake to buy. I regret it.

Bought this from Menards much less expensive than here. Was disappointed with how small the firebox was. However when it came time to use it I was very impressed. When its 20 degrees outside it heats my 1600 square foot home easy. It doesnt use a lot of wood. It burns the wood to powder. Very easy to get fire going, and maintain. Overall very impressed with this little stove.

I bought this heater after loosing money on CozyLegs. This heater is the best little heater, I find the remote control works real well to help from having to get up from our desks to make setting changes. We have a fairly big room we use it in. The only complaint that I have with it, is that when my wife is down here, she can change the tempature of the room from 67 to 75 in only less than 30 mins, and I am complaining that I need the thing turned off.

Nice product for a small room. Has thermostat, auto cut off, oscillates and two heat setting. It also has a remote control. At a resonable price.

I would purchase this product again.

The Optimus heater did a wonderful job heating my 12X12 room. My room started getting warmer within 15 minutes and it hit the 65 degree mark in 25 minutes. Considering my heat has not worked in that room for the whole winter, not bad.

Great little heater. The temperature gage seems to work really well, and the remote control is definately useful. Quiet enough for me to sleep comfortably when it was set on low.

Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a portable space heater.

Honest reviews on Optimus H-7328 Portable 22-Inch Oscillating Tower Heater

Its a fairly good product. And I'm satisfied with it after 2 weeks. However, the remote control could be definitely improved. Its range and effectivity is not the best I've seen so far. Overall a good product for a good price

After reading the earlier reviews, I was looking forward to the arrival of this heater. Perhaps the one sent to me was defective, but when turned on it generated noxious (toxic?) fumes that quickly resulted in eye and pulmonary irritation. I ran it for 30+ hours in the garage with the door open in an attempt to burn off what ever was causing the fumes, but without success.

Further, the unit didn't strike me as being particularly well-made: it was wobbly and the adhesive for the top central Optimus label wasn't up to the task as the label either fell off or slipped askew when the heater was turned on.

I attended a small community meeting in a neighbors 1830 town house where there was a charming fire in the fireplace. At the end of the 2 hour meeting I complimented the hosts on what a perfect fire. they'd made. They burst into laughter & said, "Come, look closely."

That's when I realized for the first time that the fire was artificial. I had been convinced the log fire was real.

The next day those neighbors surprised me with a gift of my first Classic Flame Insert for my 1840 house, nearby, in which there were 7 fireplaces. It was an instant hit & used nightly, just for the charm of it.

Incidentally, some months later my insurance company informed me that they would no longer cover damages resulting from the use of real fires, unless I had the fireplaces & flues lined with stainless steel. A quick check revealed it would cost over $5,000 per fireplace to do that. What about my rental apartments & the tenants fireplaces?

I explained the situation, that real fires would be banned, at the signing of the lease renewals, and I would offer & instal a Classic Flame Insert at no charge. I proudly demonstrated my own.

The proposal was a hit. All the fireplaces now have Classic Flame Inserts, the cost of relining the flues was eliminated, so was the cost of firewood, and the storage space it required, air pollution from the smoke was eliminated as was the messy chore of cleaning up the ash from a real fire. Plus, my insurance company was happy.

As a bonus the Inserts also make adjustable heat if you wish. They are especially convincing when seen behind the classic fire screens found on most fireplaces. The effect is magical.

PS When Santa came the next Christmas we just gave him a key to the front door.

This is a great heater if you are a hands on like to fix it to save money like me. Most people throw these heaters away if the caution light comes on thinking its no good anymore. BAD IDEA i just took a vacuum and cleaned the heater out and then under the thermostat control there is a spring that you have to press in on and move the resistor back in its original position. You will hear a *click* that tells you its reset. However if you dont know what you are doing DO NOT TAKE THE HEATER APART. Call customer service. Easx fix for me and a good heater.

The heater works fine for an occasional "I need to heat a very small space quickly" situation. We bought a pair of them to heat our living room (the only room in the house without forced air heat) for the few hours we were in that room. We would alternate using one on one day and then the other one. They had enough power to do the job. However, after about 4-6 weeks of operation, inevitably one of the two would stop working (the caution light would come on and the fan and heater would stop running). We've replaced 3-4 of them since November.

Bottom line: Good heat production. Completely unreliable for anything other than brief, occasional use.

So... I've wavered on this for months. Finally, I decided to see if I could really lay it all to rest. It just doesn't seem that good. So tonight I was cold. I had it on a table top, and I hugged it. I mean... I HUGGED it... I wrapped me and my jacket all around it, touching the face to my body. Then I held my hand ON the face. At 1300w it was easy to do. At 1500w I could hold it there for about a minute before it started to get uncomfortable. I decided to call their support #. They say on their manual in big letters: ATTENTION IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS, EMAIL OR CALL ... BEFORE (underlined) YOU RETURN THIS PRODUCT TO THE STORE WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. I called the 800 #. I quickly reached a pleasant voice who immediately put me on hold. I finally hung up and called back. I reached the same voice. She asked if I wanted support. I said I did. She told me to give her some info and support will call me back in typically 24-48 hours. This is a joke, right? Oh no, she said. OK. I'm done. Back to Freddie's we go.

Froth Au Lait Gourmet Automatic Hot and Cold Milk Frother Review

Froth Au Lait Gourmet Automatic Hot and Cold Milk Frother
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I bought this item after a recommendation from someone I know and who is a coffee master, and after reading the reviews. I make a large Latte a couple of times a day. Getting the right froth with most consumer grade kitchen gear is a challenge. And reading about this one, I thought would fit that void nicely. Well, yes and no.

If you need gobs of beautiful velvety froth, this machine will most definitely deliver. And you can't beat the price.

But, if you want to make a great latte with a good froth, it can turn into a frustrating experience, as it leaves ergonomics and efficiency to be desired. First of all, if I used 1 cup of milk, as I usually do, I end up with the unit full of froth and almost no liquid milk left. Too much froth, too little milk. So I have to resort to heating some milk separately and end up discarding a lot of froth which is wasteful. Second is the cleaning the unit can optionally heat the liquid during the process, which is of course nice. But, at only 500W heating, it takes quite a while and you have no control over temperature. Also, because the heating is accomplished through a coil in the bottom of the removable pitcher, it invariably has a slight burn-in every time and with the integrated electrics you can't put it in the dishwasher, so that adds annoying hand-cleaning every time (remove the paddles, rinse, take a sponge and clean the bottom of the pitcher, wipe dry).

So while I like the froth it makes, I have gone from using one machine (KitchenAid espresso machine) to 3 (make coffee, make froth, heat milk) and I have at least twice the cleaning to do afterwards. That's an unreasonable ergonomic setup. It's possible that using different amounts of milk makes a difference on some aspects, but that would make it wasteful again.

I think this unit has it's place in sauces, whipped cream, and other things (if you don't already have other suitable KitchenAid mixers/processor for that), but as a everyday milk frother it falls short. Hence it's trying to be versatile, but ends up imperfect.

The build quality wasn't impressive. Lots of plastic, some parts (like heater on/off switch) not well fitted.

as a professional cook, the hardest dishes to make perfect are egg based, ie custards, lemon curd and other flavored curds, hollandaise, bearnaise. this tool does them all to perfection.

the beater, heater, and timing are perfectly sychronised to get maximum thickening from the egg before overcooking it. you must not overfill container for ideal results. the recipe determines how thick the mixture will be, but in all cases, the potential of the egg is maximized.

in addition, i froth the milk for my morning coffee everyday and the results are heaven. never had a tool that was so reliable and so useful for dishes i consider a challenge under all other circumstances.

After having searched all over the web and returning machine after machine I stumbled on this website. The description of this machine sounded to good to be true, so I decided to contact the company to find out if I could have a demonstration of it since they were fairly local. I was so blown away by the performance of this machine. The milk was nice and hot and the froth was thick and beautiful. In addition, this company makes several different sizes to fit the needs of anyone and the prices are extremely reasonable. I ended up buying one for my daily use and one for entertaining large groups. Finally, a great frother!

Honest reviews on Froth Au Lait Gourmet Automatic Hot and Cold Milk Frother

This is my long-overdue review. I've been blessed to have this wonderful little machine for just over a year now, and it has stood up sturdily to daily use. It makes utterly divine froth, and lots of it! Friends love coming over to get the "frothies" that I make; they adore them, and so do I. The variety of delicious possibilities goes on and on -perfect hollandaise, too!-so if you're creative in the kitchen, this machine is for you.

Amazon didn't have this model in stock yet when I first discovered it, so I contacted the manufacturer and bought directly from them. (It is a charming, old-school family company, btw, who stands behind their products and loves their customers. I've had occasion to visit them in person, to replace a part lost while traveling yes, I travel with it and their staff is wonderful.)

The key thing to understand about this machine is that you'll be best off trying a few different milks and testing your results. Personally, I tend not to do well on pasteurized dairy, so my experience is largely with alternatives to milk. Some work beautifully, many do not. (And if something doesn't work, no big deal, just add chocolate, sweeten to taste and try the next one!).

I've experimented with just about everything, and suggest you do, too, as there's clearly some interesting biochemistry & physics going on behind foam creation. One brand of milk won't work at all, and the next one will, perfectly. My very best results are with unsweetened Almond Breeze (plain or vanilla foam galore!) and with Edensoy's Rice & Soy (for those who do soy products). I've also tried it with my own homemade nut milks, and wound up with... pudding. Happy accident!

I make chai tea lattes, Japanese matcha lattes, Teeccino lattes, mate lattes and hot raw cacao along with the traditional cafe latte (although by now, with all my flavor doctoring, nothing is traditional anymore!). It's rare for me to have a "fluffy" drink away from home now, since these are SO much better than anything you can get at a restaurant (outside of Italy or New Zealand, that is ;)).

A few tips:

1) Do NOT go above the 3rd line with your milk. It will overflow, and that is not fun to clean up. Your little finger's width below the top line (that's what I use to measure) will ensure that you can walk away and come back to a full pitcher of foam that didn't run over.

2) Wait until the very end of the cycle to add sweetener; the foam should be almost at the top. Grade B maple syrup works brilliantly, especially combined with pure vanilla extract and a drop or two of one of the organic flavor essences from Medicine Flower (e.g. Dark Chocolate Flavor Extract By Medicine Flower 15 ml yum!); agave also works fine. Honey flattens the foam, so I tend to mix it into the warm milk by hand after foaming is complete.

3) Unless you can make do with petite lattes, you can usually make enough foam & milk for 2 people per pitcher. So if you are serving more than 2, you must cool the base before subsequent batches. For quickest turnaround, I clean and dry everything, then stick it in the freezer for a minute or two until the base has cooled off.

4) And here's a fun one: if you did happen to pick up a latte when you were out and about, and you didn't finish your drink, when you get home you can throw the cold remains into the Froth Au Lait Gourmet, add some of your own flavoring and fluff up the whole lot. Fantastic.

Bottom line: after a year of daily use, I have nothing but praise for this little wonder. It's perfect for me and one or two friends at a time, which is most of the time. (Next on my wish list is one of those professional grade stainless S14 machines, for entertaining.)

All thumbs way, way up. As Dr. Seuss might say, "Hooray, hooray for the Froth Au Lait Gourmet!" :0)

This is an outstanding product and company. I have owned 2 other Froth Au Laits and now have the Gourmet; it is phenomenal! I use it at least 3 times a day and absolutely love it! I make froth to eat like whipped cream and to make my own cappucinos. I bought the Nespresso and found it to be absolutely useless, so I went on a hunt for something that made foam the way I wanted it, thick like meringue. I googled "frothers" and found Froth Au Lait on Amazon, so I ordered the mini. It FAR EXCEEDED my expectations but it wasn't big enough for me, so I ordered the Gourmet. It has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. Not only is the product outstanding, making unbelievably thick and lucious foam, the company is wonderful as well. After I made my purchase review on Amazon, the owner actually called me to thank me for my review and as we chatted she found my original order from 10 years ago! This company needs to be known and featured and commended. I will be a Froth Au Lait owner from now on and will do anything I can to make it known to others! Thank you Froth Au Lait for not only having an outstanding product, but for having the kind of customer service that puts you in the stratosphere of outstanding companies.

(EDIT 01/27/2011) My initial review below was written based on an old design that had some quality issues. From my communication with Amazon shoppers like you, and the Consumer Relations folks at Insinkerator, it appears that current models have been redesigned to hopefully eliminate the problems I had. It also appears from those same communications that Insinkerator is going beyond the warranty period to replace some consumers' units when they discover this problem. Because of that I have upgraded my rating to a neutral 3-stars and modified my review somewhat. If you have problems with an existing unit, I also would encourage you to contact Insinkerator support to see what they can do for you. They're very good in my experience when your product is in warranty. I've heard from several folks that Insinkerator has replaced their unit outside of warranty too when they had this problem. Obviously there is some limit to what they will be willing to do, but the call is free. So if you've found this review because of a problem with your existing unit, your first step should be to call Insinkerator at 800-558-5712 and give them a chance to make it right. Post here with your experiences.

(Original Review) This Insinkerator product suffers from a couple of design flaws. Like many here I found a puddle of water under my unit about two years after installing it. Checked into buying a new unit, but at $200 I wasn't going to give in easily. After reading other folks' experience with the unit I opened mine up and found the obvious source of the leak. There is a 1/4" plastic vent hose than helps handle the return hot water after you release the faucet handle. Since it's a non-pressurized unit, all water in the line up to faucet gets returned to the tank after you release the faucet handle. This hose, combined with a plastic overflow tank handles the water return. The root cause of the leaking problem is the type of tubing that was used for this one part. In the hot water heater it sits at near 200F, 24/7/365, and it can't handle the heat. Mine had turned a dark brown to nearly black color and had completely failed where the hose was routed right along the stainless steel tank. Every time we used the heater the return water ended up in our cabinet. Because of this one piece, customers everywhere are replacing their tanks prematurely. It can be fixed if you are handy. Please note that any modification of your unit will void the warranty, and rightfully so. If your unit is under warranty you should call Insinkerator at 800-558-5712 and have them replace it. If you buy a new unit, don't mess with it -it's under warranty. Even if it's out of warranty, give them a call -there's a good chance they'll do right by you. If you do try and repair it, know that you are on your own. Insinkerator strongly advises against any owner-initiated component repair. What I have done has been untested by Insinkerator and they have implemented their own fix in the current product design. Anything that happens during or after any repair you make will be your responsibility. And remember, nothing lasts forever.

HOW TO REPAIR: Basically you have to replace the hose with the right kind, and fortunately it's pretty easy. I recommend silicone tubing (rated to 500F), and you'll need some with 1/8" or 3/16" inside diameter. I bought some from an Amazon seller, 1/8" ID and 3/8" OD with thick 1/8" walls. (Edit: The original tubing is 3/16" ID but I went with 1/8 for a good snug fit. 3/16" ID tubing will also work quite well, and is what I would recommend at this point if you can find it.) Search on Amazon and you'll find what I'm talking about. Unfortunately it's only sold in 10' or longer lengths, and you need less than a foot. If you can find it locally, all the better. For good measure get a couple of small plastic zip ties (cable ties) or the proper sized spring clamp to secure the new tubing.

1) Unplug, drain, and remove the tank. After unplugging the power cord, run water thru the unit till cold water flows out the faucet. Then place a large bowl (1-gallon capacity minimum) under the tank, unscrew the drain screw, and let the tank drain into the bowl. If you can easily shut off the water supply do it now, but it is not necessary as long as no one uses the faucet when you are working on the tank. While draining, remove the three tubes from the top of the tank. One has a spring loaded clip you need to depress to remove the tube and the other two are silicone and plastic tubes that just pull off (might vary a bit based on the age of your unit). Loosen the mounting screws, and when the tank has drained, remove it from your cabinet and find a water resistant place to work on it.

2) Disassemble the tank. Really easy -there is a small screw on the top that holds the two sides of the plastic shell together ... remove it. The two sides of the shell pull apart fairly easily but you might need to muscle it a bit. Once you get them apart, remove them from the unit and place aside. Then remove the temperature dial and put it aside. At this point you will have the guts of the unit with the steel tank encased in a dense styrofoam shell. Take a minute to examine the way it's put together (pictures wouldn't hurt either). You'll most probably easily pick out the problem part -it will probably be very dark and brittle, and one end will be attached to the side of the water inlet port. Cut the hose somewhere before the metal (maybe plastic on yours) water inlet port it attaches to, and you will then be able to remove the upper styrofoam shell. After that you will see where the other end of the defective hose goes -the bottom of the plastic overflow tank. You will need to cut the old zip ties (or maybe spring clamps) at each end of the hose to fully remove the old hose.

3) Inspect and dry the full unit. You may want at this point to remove the other styro shell piece and completely dry everything. At this point I discovered that the leaking water has badly rusted several of the screws holding the two pieces of the stainless tank together. IMHO they should have used stainless steel screws. I wasn't sure whether or not the rust has led to any leak in the tank itself, so I disassembled the stainless tank (fun to do with rusted screws I'll tell you). Mine took a T-10 Torx driver for the screws, and I eventually got them all out. A trip to the hardware store got me some #6 x 3/4" stainless machine screws and lock nuts. If you see anything else besides the hose that could be a problem, you'll need to deal with it for a complete repair.

4) Reassemble the unit, installing the new hose as you go. Put the tank back in the bottom styro shell. Attach one end of the silicone hose to the plastic overflow tank and secure with a zip tie cutting off the excess tie. Put the plastic tank back in the upper styro shell and slide the two back onto the top of the stainless tank. The plastic tank lines up with the silicone hose to the front of the unit. You'll route the hose along the tank flange to the right of the unit just like the old hose was. Once the shell is as far down as it goes, route the hose along the side of the styro shell following the groove for the old hose (not a perfect fit, but that's OK) and then over the top to the water inlet port. Hold it in place and see where you need to cut the silicone hose to fit the port without excess slack in the hose. Then cut the hose, attach it to the port and secure with a zip tie. Replace the thin upper piece of styro over the top of it all and reassemble it all into the plastic shell. Take your time and work the two halves together, making sure to get the power cord grommet correctly into the cutout in the shell. Get the bottom together first then work your way up. Pay attention to the new hose, keeping it tucked in behind the side of the front half of the shell (don't let it end up stuffed behind the back half of the shell. When done properly the shell will snap together nicely, and you may note a slight bulge where the new hose is if you used the thicker silicone tubing like me -that's OK. Put the small screw back into the top the shell, and reinsert the drain screw.

5) Reinstall and test tank. Just reverse the removal steps. Open the faucet until water flows before plugging the tank in. Then use the faucet normally, checking regularly for any leaks. Mine has been leak free for two weeks, and should last for years now.

That's it, and it's probably easier than it sounds. For a grand total of less than $25 (with nine feet of hose left over) I have a fully functional tank again. The rest of the unit is very well made. The tank iteslf is built like a ... well, a tank, so I expect it to last years. Good luck with your home repair efforts if you try. If you have questions or need some of the correct tubing email me at pbj1959 at gmail dot com.

UPDATE 9/13/2010: A couple months now and still no leaks. I've been corresponding with another owner who ended up getting a replacement from Insinkerator. He sent me pics (thanks Jay!) that show they have changed the design of this particular tube that has been causing so many problems. The new design uses a different type of plastic for the tubing and avoids routing it along the steel hot water tank. They also seemed to have added a different type of gasket between the two tank halves. From what I saw, new units with this design won't suffer the same problem I described above, but how to tell whether any one new unit purchased at retail will have this fix incorporated??

Junk. The first unit lasted 14 months. Still under warrenty so I purchased another unit as a spare until first one could be repaired and it leaked out of the box. Am going with Instant hot by Kitchenmade as that unit lasted 8 years.

Please call Insinkerator and verify the warranty policy before purchasing and installing these types of products.

My poor rating is entirely related to the warranty service I attempted to obtain after my SST hot water dispenser quit working after 8 months of operation. During my contact with Insinkerator via the 1-800 number it was revealed that I must have have a copy of my receipt "for professional product installation."

Okay, what kind of a game is this? I do not have a receipt for installation, because I installed it myself using the instructions that were provided in the manual. The manual never specified professional installation required for warranty coverage.

On my further insistence on unit return and replacement, the customer service rep continued "We do not have a repair facility or shipping address. An Insinkerator selected plumber must be dispatched to your location. "You should be aware that you will be liable for the service call and the full unit replacement costs if it is determined the installation was not correct."

Okay, this is rubbish. The unit is a small, plastic, foam and very thin steel tank weighing less than a two pounds. It has two internal components, a 98 cent thermostat and heater element. The water flow is fine, so the thermostat or element quit. Why should a plumber be required to fix an ELECTRICAL PROBLEM?

At the time of purchase I was not aware of other alternatives. I now see that a simple electric hot water pitcher or heat-on-use hot water heater would have been better alternatives and have provided better warranty support.

My advice, keep looking.

I would give it a 0, but Insinkerator does send people out to replace the filter, so they get a 1.

The product is good, when it works. The problem is that the quality is terrible, and when it fails, it can cause property damage.

We purchased this product in early 2006, and as of this writing, it has failed three times. The first time, the heating element failed, and Insinkerator replaced it. The second time, the unit leaked all of its contents out, damaging our wooden cabinetry. When they replaced the unit, I wisely put a bucket underneath it. It came in handy when it failed yet again, dumping all of the water into the bucket I placed underneath it.

If you decide to purchase this unit, please make sure that it's accessible for replacement and that you place a bucket underneath it. Check the bucket regularly. Also, make sure that the temperature is set to hot, but not boiling; otherwise, water will constantly run from the dispenser and the unit will burn itself out. Good luck.

Only time will tell, but the SST-FLTR heating replacement appears to be a noticable improvement over the original heating unit. My original instant hot water heater began leaking after about 3 years of use. This replacement has an external dial that allows for temperature adjustment depending on how hot you really want your water. We actually didn't need it to be scalding hot, so we've moved the dial to the 12 o'clock position and it seems to be fine for our purposes. The casing is thick, solid plastic and the connectors and tubing appears to be improved over the early model. The heating unit also seems to be better insulated than the original, so hopefully it will keep the water hotter longer and actually save some energy.

My only gripe is with the pricing of the SST-FLTR only. Cheapest that I could find was $199 online, yet my local hardware store sells brand new H770-SS models (dispenser and heating unit) for $179. Same heating unit as the SST-FLTR. I used the heating unit as my replacement and I'll see if I can sell the dispenser part for a few bucks at auction.

This is my second Mr Heater Double for a different garage and was an easy choice when i needed a heater.

Just quicly attach it to the top of any standard propane tank (I use 30lb tanks to go longer between refills)

connect the hose (Reminder reverse threads on propane hoses), open the valve, depress and hold the button while you light it, hold the button for 5-10 seconds and that's it.

The heater really starts putting out the heat right away and I'm able to take my 2 car garage (insulated) from roughly 40 degrees F to about 55-60 degrees F in around 30-60 minutes.

My recommendation is if your looking for a garage or outbuilding heater this will be your simpilist, most portable, highest heat output choice.

Heats as it should! Only thing is the ignite r has a problem lighting the burner every time, solution is to place a thumb over the air draw hole while depressing the thermal gas valve plunger, lights right up when this is done.

I was so glad to get this. It fit my old (at least ten years old) NuTone bathroom light/heater perfectly, and really makes the room look like new again without having to change the fixture out. I had thought it would be impossible to find a new one, and there it was. :) I'm very happy with it. I'm just hoping it holds up better than the old plastic lens did, which had a melted out area in it from a hot bulb and a yellowed look.

Exactly as described by the seller. I bought a few extra as a just-in-case and the box is the perfect size to protect the item.

Our lens was missing when we bought the house. This one was easy to install. It also made the entire assembly look like new.

My lens was $14 and I was charged $49.98 for shipping. This seems to be excessive and is frustrating. It was priority express mail from the USPS.

I was looking for the clear lens. I saw the picture on amazon showing this clear lens and ordered but I was shipped a translucent one. Horrible false advertising by amazon. If I wanted a translucent one I would have bought that off eBay for half the price but I was specifically looking for the clear one as the picture suggests.

Bad job by amazon. Disappointed but what can I do. It's not worth the hassle to return and go looking again. just FYI so someone does not get duped like I did. go to ebay. Get it for half the price.
