This was my initial review posted on a deal site where i learned about this heater.

Consider this the good.

Been running the Lifesmart Infrared heater for the last 4 days and i think its a keeper.

We lowered our downstairs thermostat to 60 and cranked up the Lifesmart on high. It took several hours before the thermostat was satisfied when set to 68 degrees.

Once it cycled off and on a couple times, i tried raising the thermostat to 72. It never shut off. Looks like 66-68 is going to be the sweet spot if we dont want it running continuously.

I have it in a room that measures 13'x27' with 8' ceilings. We put up sheets to block double wide openings into adjacent rooms.

We put a temp gauge on the shelf and it does read around 68-70 degrees when the unit cycles off.

So is this thing going to heat a 1,000 to 1,500 sq. ft. area? I really doubt it, but it does a decent job of heating the room i purchased it for. It even has an off/on timer which we used both to turn the unit on in the morning an hour before we get up and then we also used it to shut off 2 hours after leaving the house just in case our guest forgets to turn it off.

The fan may be a little noisy for some, but we couldn't hear it with the TV going so its not a big deal.

You can feel the warm air coming out of it from about 4' away, but beyond that its not directly noticeable.

I haven't had the chance to hook up my Kill-A-Watt meter yet, but hope to do so this week.

Remote control works well and all functions are accessible through it.

The power cord does get a little warm to the touch. The manual does say that it must be plugged into an outlet rated at 15 Amps or more and that nothing else be allowed to run on that circuit.

If you do the math, 1500 Watts at 120 volts = 12.5 Amps. So i wont be running the microwave, TV or any other such appliance at the same time. Luckily we have a couple circuits in the living room area, so it hasnt been an issue for us.

So the jury is still out on the added electricity cost, but if the claims of a dollar a day hold true, hopefully itll save us some money on our oil bill. The manual bases that claim on operating it for 8 hours out of the day. Based on our KWH rate of 8.265, our cost to operate comes out to about .99 cents pr/day.

Ill be anxious to hook up the Kill-A-Watt and see what it says and also to have a look at our first electric bill.

The Bad and the Ugly:

Just short of 3 weeks of use, we got 2 E1 errors within 2 days of each other. Had to unplug the unit and plug right back in. We were able to continue using it after.

I knew about these E1 errors after reading some reviews here and was hoping it wouldnt happen to me. I decided to buy it anyways hoping Lifesmart had resolved the issue.

A couple days later the unit started shutting off completely with no error code. After letting it sit for a while, the power light would come back on. If we tried unplugging and replugging right away, it would not come back on and no lights appeared on the unit.

With just 2 days left on the return policy, it got sent back yesterday.

I emailed Lifesmart twice about the issue and after several days wait got a response suggesting it was an overheat issue and that i needed to make sure there was a minimum of 2-3 ft clearance behind the unit, that it wasnt plugged into a circuit with other high draw devices, that it wasnt on a GFCI outlet and that we weren't using an extension cord. None of this applied to us except for the fact that there are 2 lamps on the same circuit. As mentioned before i measured the Lifesmart heater drawing 12.5 Amps at its highest setting, so that leaves a little room for some low current devices like the lamps.

After waiting several more days when i inquired about shipping costs to send it back to them for repair, they said that they would ship me the parts and i could install them myself! I have no problem doing this, but found it highly unusual that they would suggest something like this on a unit thats still under warranty.

I got this email on my way to ship the unit back to the retailer i bought it from.

Last weekend i went out and bought 2 different inexpensive Fan Heaters that both have a 1500 watt setting. Both did about the same as the Lifesmart heater in keeping the room described above at around 66-68 degrees. The one cheaper fan was purchased for $16 and doesnt have the bells and whistles that the Lifesmart has, but it cost a whole lot less. The 2nd one costs $35 and does have a shut off timer feature, but no start up timer (which i miss). Both have the auto shut off tip feature.

Our electric bill did go up some in the 3 weeks we ran the lifesmart and i dont expect that using either of these less expensive heaters will change the electricity usage much. I put my Kill-A-Watt meter on both of the cheaper units and they both draw about the same wattage and current as the lifesmart.

The Lifesmart ran pretty much continuously unless i had it set to 66 degrees. It would then cycle off occasionally. As i have read elsewhere and in some recent deal forum discussions, is that 1500 watts is 1500 watts no matter how you slice it. The lifesmart is no more efficient than either of these 2 fan heaters i bought. The only thing these Amish style Infrared heaters have going for them is looks and the possible inclusion of an timer to turn the unit on at a specified time.

I was interested in these types of heaters but after reading some of the reviews I was unsure. I decided to try it after a friend told me they had one and loved it. I live in NH and bought this to help heat my 500sq ft mobile home....well I am pleased to say that it has been heating my home all by itself, I have it set on low and on 68* and it keeps the whole place at that temp( I also run a fan to circulate the air)....its been in the low 20's and its done great! My propane furnace hasn't run once since I got this heater which is great at 3.40 a gallon for propane! I haven't gotten the 1st electricity bill yet, but I have figured out on low it uses 1000 watts an hour which is 1 kilo watt an hour and at .16 cents a kilo watt/hr thats $3.85 a day if it ran constantly which it does not, it cycles on and off so my bill shouldn't be that bad compared to propane costs....we will see. I recommend this heater to anyone looking to supplement their heating bill...its been doing a great job for me!

The LS1500-6 is bulkier and very noisy compared to the LS1500-4. We have both, and even though the LS1500-6 looks nicer, it's not worth dealing with the extra noise. Also, in terms of heating capability both models seemed about the same to us. The LS1500-6 failed on us after only 2 weeks of use, and vminnovations wanted us to pay forty bucks to ship it back to them for a replacement, plus shipping costs for the new unit ridiculous. We should have dealt directly with amazon since they have a better return policy for dealing with defective merchandise.

Was apprehensive buying non-brand name, but it worked out fine. I'm actually using it for primary heating for one 150sf room as I'm doing a remodel, and so far it's worked fine with temps down to 30 degrees at night. Was so concerned about the electric bill, and was shocked when I got it...it only went up $10 by keeping the heat at 59 degrees. So now I have no problem with raising the temp. One issue I have with it is the chemical smell from the manufacturing of the internal parts. I have to burn a candle to get rid of the smell until it wears off. Other issue is the 2 minute cycling on & then off after it reaches the desired temp...I don't think it's supposed to do that, as it doesn't even heat up enough within that time frame. But for $200...I'm happy with the purchase...and the seller was fantastic...received the item within 3 days.

I recently installed this heater in my garage and I live in the cold state of Minnesota. This heater doesn't provide any more heat then a standard heater even though it is 5000 watts. I had to put a 240 volt, 30 amp circuit in to run the heater. The heater is ok but nothing special.

The product apears well built and worked very well for about 24 months. Now the higher wattage element is burned out on both heaters so they only work on low. They both burned out within a week of each other which makes me think it is a manufacturing problem. It is an extremely expensive heater and a very expensive repair. I plan to buy another brand for less than the cost of the repair. Thanks Cadet.

I just ordered a second CADET RCP502S The Hot One, for my garage shop. Superior to every other small heater that I investigated. Excellent engineering. Having two settings makes it very versatile. For a larger space I use the high wattage setting to reach the temperature I want, then reduce the wattage to maintain that temperature the thermostat works. And it is way the best looking garage heater.

Honest reviews on Cadet 5,000-Watt Portable Garage Heater

I like this heater and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good, reliable electric heater.

My garage is just over 500sq.ft. and uninsulated. It takes the chill out of the air from about 40 degrees F on up. Below that, don't look at it helping much unless your garage is insulated. It's helped me get a lot of things done when it would be too cold to otherwise.

So my first thoughts when I saw these things being advertised was...Who is Twin Star, It's not a EdenPure, it's made in China, it'll probably break down quickly, I wonder if it even heats like it says it does. I had been seriously debating buying a EdenPure but was holding off because of the price and hoping I could convince someone to get me one for christmas. I my co-worker told me that Costco was selling EdenPure heaters for $200 but when I double checked it was these things for $150 at Sams, I was cautious because when I spend over $100 on something I want to know it works and that it is of high quality. But I took the risk anyway and bought a 2 year extended warranty to go with it. So first night, I take it home and turn my central heat off, go down to my uncarpeted (but insulated) basement. It only got down to 50 degrees but that's still pretty chilly in a basement. if it didn't show me something I was taking it back tomorrow. I turned it on, gave it an hour and guess what...it started working well, the basement was WARM (I even broke a sweat under the covers), I was shocked. I went upstairs and it was way cooler than MY BASEMENT. It came with a neat little remote control that works for people like myself that get warm and lazy and don't want to get up in the middle of the night to adjust the heater. My fiance's father has an actual EdenPure that he uses in his basement and it works, I must say that in my opinion this heater matched the EdenPure's performance. I expected it to fail but it didn't. I got this for $150 plus $20 for the protection plan, the average price I saw on the EdenPure is $400. Glad I kept that extra $200+ in my pocket. Now here's where I knock on wood, at the time I am writing this I have only had this heater for a few days. I'm from St. Louis Missouri, so I have no idea how this thing will hold up during the coldest of winter months but if it's performance is anything less than what it has been, or if this thing breaks down, I will update this review.

More on the performance: It's very quiet which I like, gives off a cool glowing effect but isn't too bright. but the BEST THING ABOUT THIS HEATER IS...it does not dry out the air. The biggest problem with conventional combustion heaters especially for me and especially for the winter is that they dry out the air that's already dry from the cold. Using conventional heaters every winter I get nose bleeds from the dry air due to cold and the twice dried air from the heater burning the little water that was in the air away. I had to plug up a humidifier to try and add a little moisture to the air but the results were limited. The infrared technology does not heat in the same way that combustion heaters do so the air doesn't get dried out and I can breathe easy,

In summary it is MY PERSONAL OPINION at this moment that this thing heats as well as a edenpure costs less than half the money and best of all doesn't dry out the air. I can't talk about the durability yet but I hope this thing holds up because I already love it

Ordered this after reading numerous reviews and thought for my application would work. Our house is a 1970's ranch with double paned windows and adequate but not great insulation in walls and ceiling (8 foot ceilings). Purchased this with the intent to heat a family room kitchen area of about 400 sq ft but with open doorways into the rest of the house. Wanted to augment heat pump so set the heat pump temp to 68. Expected this Infrared Heater to warm family room/kitchen area to 74 degrees and set it to that temp. Was never successful in getting the room to that temp. The temp as displayed on the unit would go up to 70 once in a while but after a minute or two drop back to 68 or 69. Understood that the temp reading might be variable in its accuracy but room felt chilly and never did take the chill off even after letting the unit run for several hours. The unit did feel like it was putting out warm air so was perplexed as to why it could never bring the room temp up. But in the end would not achieve the desired results and at this price point felt the only option was to return it. If you are going to try this make sure to buy through Amazon as there were absolutely no issues returning this which from what I've read is not always the case with other vendors of this type of product.

The two stars are for the finish of the cabinet. Very pretty and assembly appeared very solid and of quality.

This unit may work in a closed room environment but with the stated 1000 sq ft capabilities thought it would work much better in a smaller somewhat closed off area.

I bought the Duraflame 10HM8000. It does look nice and have a handy remote. The front grill does not get hot so its good for pets and children. However I found that it could not heat a room larger than a bedroom. I left in on for 3 hours in a 400 sq ft living room and it did not raise the temperature 1 degree. Yet it did work fine in our Master bedroom. It does make some noise but its fairly quiet. The house is in Chicago and was built in 1968 and needs an insulation upgrade. Ultimately since this was too much to spend on a bedroom heater, I returned it and bought a Mica-Thermic panel just for the bedroom.

Honest reviews on Comfort Smart Mighty Oak 1000 Sq Ft Portable Infrared Heater

Not only do you feel warmer, the floors are warm and there are no hot spots anywhere in the room or the house with this new technology for heating. I no longer use my central unit in the house because it is cheaper to operate two of these units to heat my home. I have a third for upstairs but only use it when I need it.

I have two of these units plus one Eden Pure that quite frankly I spent too much money on because this one is equally as strong and good with the results. I got mine from Sam's for less then this one on Amazon but it is the identical company unit they sell.

I tell everyone about this technology and these units. Why spend more on energy than necessary, plus the heat you feel within the room isn't the same at all.

I purchased this unit to be installed in a wall in a bathroom as an auxiliary heater. I am pleased with its performance. At the 1000 watt setting it does produce adequate heat. At the 500 watt setting, it heats, but a bit weak. The fan is reasonably quiet. It's easy to install.

I have a very large garage. It's 13 feet high, 20'x40'. The heater uses quite a bit of fuel per hour, but only has to run for 20 minutes to warm the entire garage to a good working temp. And the garage stays warm for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after I shut it off. So, for an average of $3.00 to $5.00 per hour I can have my garage back. I could not even use my garage for about 4 months of the year due to extreme cold. Now I don't have any excuse to not get work done all year long. Fast delivery too!

This Lifesmart heater is a good buy for me and I own just about every different type of space heater available. To start, don't expect it to heat 1200 sq ft, and don't expect the wood finish to be outstanding. The wood finish is not bad, but if viewed in direct sunlight you can see all the imperfections in the wood, though acceptable but not for a picky person. You can always refinish the wood, or darken the stain, so it does not bother me. The buttons make a beep sound when pushed, this could wake up the baby. The thermostat when cycling off and on make a faint clicking sound, this could also potentially wake up the baby.

Now for the good stuff. It is a super solid unit with nice smooth casters for rolling, weighs in over 40 pounds. The electronics are really nice, the thermostat has a 2 degree F. range. If you set it at 67, the temperature will go from 65-67, shutoff at 67 and then turn back on at 65. When it shuts off, the fan continues to push residual heat, the fan does not shut off.

I have a killowatt tester. On low it uses 940 watts, on high it uses 1360 watts, the fan alone uses 32 watts. Don't let the low scare you because the on off cycles can turn it to 500 watts or less.

It seems to push a lot of heat. I was expecting to feel the warmth of the infrared like a typical infrared heater. For some reason I could not feel the infrared, maybe most of it gets soaked up with the copper, but some must also come out. Maybe just not enough to be plainly noticeable.

I was originally thinking this would save me by taking over some work from the furnace. Instead it is saving me in a different manner. It is not powerful enough to heat my main area. I have a 4000 sq ft home. I found it works much better in our bedroom. We were using a space heater on high 1500 watts all night to supplement the furnace. I can keep this Lifesmart on low and set the digital thermostat and it cycles on and off and it does the job using under 500 watts. My calculations are at about a $50 savings per month using it in this manner. Just because it worked out for me, it does not mean it will work out for you. I was originally disappointed that it did not help the furnace with my main living area and was disappointed I did not feel the infrared. I was thinking it was a bad buy and no real use for it. Then I started trying to figure where it might work better, and am satisfied now.

One test I did, I took my next best heaters, a new model Lasko Cyclonic Ceramic Heater 5840 and a Lasko 5812. On a cold night near 0 night, I set it to 3 degrees above the rest of the house, and the most they could do after hours on high is 2 degrees above. I then took the Lifesmart and set it at 4 degrees above, and to top that off I set it on low. In 10 minutes it hit a degree warmer than the other 2 heaters could do in hours of work. So it is doing something, that's for sure. It is just not readily apparent as I would like it to be. I wanted to feel sunshine type heat. I didn't get the infrared feel. I am still very happy with the buy. I figure it should be free in 4 months of operation with the savings. I will recommend this to anyone who is not too picky on the wood finish. This ended up being my best space heater.

I bought this heater, exact one for 170 shipped off a seller on ebay. This product works so well in my apartment (1000 sf) that we use it as our only source of heat. The built in heater that came with the unit was costing me 70 dollars in gas bills and up a month to heat the apartment in the winter. I was fed up with paying so much for the bill that I decided to take the plunge and buy this... I keep the unit on Low all day and all night. The unit peridocly shuts on and off (approx 1-2 min every 40-60 minutes) to cycle the heat around the house when the temperature dips below the degree listed on the face of the heater. Right now it is 40 degrees outside and my house is a comfy 72 (listed on the home thermostat, when the lifesmart heater is listed at 72). My new bill for electricity cost me compared to the previous month (no heater) only 10 dollars more, likewise my gas bill went down 70 dollars as compared to the previous month with the apartment heater on. Overall a really great product.

Best Deals for LIFESMART Amish Inspired Power Plus 1200 Square Foot 6 Element

This heater works as advertised. I have had it more than a month so the electric bill came in and met my expectations. I turned down my 3500 sq.ft. home central heat from 71F to 69F. No use heating the entire house with all the kids gone. I use this heater for my bedroom during the night and set it for 73F. It brings the room to approximately 71F and turns off. Then it comes on for a minute for two every 15 minutes to maintain the temperature. I went to Harbor Freight and purchased a Digital Electrical Usage Tester to see how much power this heater is actually using. Turns out it uses 1350 Watts, 114 volts, and 11.8 Amps. If it stayed on all night this would be a energy hog, but since it only comes on approximately 4 times per hour, for a minute each time, the energy use is much less than my central air. Therefore my energy use went down for this past month since turning down my central heat and using this heater to heat my bedroom. Overall it met my expectations. Only one thing I had not anticipated is the smell of new wood and glue the first two weeks as the heater broke in.

Honest reviews on LIFESMART Amish Inspired Power Plus 1200 Square Foot 6 Element

This Lifesmart heater caught on fire in the middle of the night. There were actual flames coming out of it. It was sitting alone with nothing around it within 3 feet. We drug it outside and put the flames out with a hose. It thankfully did not hurt anyone since the smoke alarm alerted us to the situation. It did cause smoke smell damage that is still present. The manufacturer was contacted and they wanted to replace it with a lessor type heater ($99.99) and offered $50.00 for the damage. They stated that in 99% of the time that this happens (does it happen frequently?) it is the outlet that is the problem. This particular outlet is functioning fine and there is no damage to it. The fire started inside of the unit, not at the outlet. The house has to be repainted and the furniture cleaned which will cost much more than $50.00. This has been an unacceptable suggested resolution from this company. I would not recommend this heater simply because of the manufacturer's statement that "when this happens" which tells me that we are not the first customer to experience this. If it was a first time occurrence and they were responsive that would be one thing. This sounded like it was just another incident.

Went to a lot of work installing heater just to turn around and rip it out. Heater is very noisy. I phoned company and explained situation. They stated "they never advertised unit as being quiet" So much for that.

Best Deals for Broan Model 178 Wall Heater, 1000/2000 Watt 240 VAC, White Painted

The unit arrived with a damaged electrical connection to the heating element. Northside Service Co. promptly sent a replacement element which was great. After a few months of use the white metal grill (looks like baked enamel or equivalent) started cracking and flaking off at the point where the most heat comes out. I emailed Northside about this and they kindly made it clear that they warranted the product for only 60 days that I needed to talk to Broan 1-800-637-1453. Broan (Trish) said that the sellers uphold the warrantee and not Broan. They added that Northside were not authorized sellers, and that as they serviced it previously they had taken on the responsibility of servicing the warrantee, and that I should go back to them. Fortunately before I needed to take this further Broan said they would go ahead and send me a replacement grill, but they would do this only the one time.

As the unit does a great job of quickly heating the two rooms that make up our main bathroom and shower I highly recommend it. I think Broan has been around long to know how to formulate and apply an appropriate paint finish and that there is going to be odd bad unit or bad batch. So I would buy it again.

To comply with local electrical codes (long story), I had to install one of these units in each BR. I probably should have spent more money to get a low decibel model. Yes, it has a thermostat, but when that triggers the heater to come on, it is noisy since there is no speed setting. It's on or it's off!! Oh well, you get what you pay for, eh?

Returning it. It looks super cheap and many of the pieces were bent or threaded crooked. Wouldn't pay $10 for it or put it on display next to the fireplace.

It is very easy to use and makes perfect hot water. Most of my friends who see it have never seen anything like it. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other brands and models but it sure is great and looks great; attractive water level indicator; high quality made; made in Japan. Just a simple white oyster color makes it very pleasing on the countertop. Just enough controls make it interesting but it's ultimately simple to use. When you refill it with water it knows enough to reboil automatically so you don't have to push any buttons. When the temperature gets to correct level it does not play any funny songs.

At night if it still has enough water in it, I just leave it on, and the water stays at the 194 temperature, which is where we like it in the morning. If I refill at night I push the 6 hour button and it will do it all starting six hours later. So operation can be very simple, just fill with water and after awhile push the buttons to dispense hot water. And the water does not have any strange flavors, just pure delicious tea-friendly oatmeal-friendly, soup-friendly hot water. Mine is made in Japan and purchased from a local Asian Market in San Rafael.

I'd been using Panasonic (Japanese) products until recently. I am very picky about small kitchen appliances because I use it everyday. This is one of the best among the product we can purchase in USA. It works perfect for making Japanese green tea even the one I bought at Costco (Itoen tea bags), lower temp brings out its natural sweetness. Also works great as my kitchen assistant it boils water quickly, perfect helper for making pasta, potato salad, steamer. LOVE IT !!!!!

I love this pot! We've used it for about 3 years now, works perfectly! Very easy to use, and you have hot water anytime you need. Easy to clean just add 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice (4 if it's really bad) in a pot filled with water and push two buttons together done! Rinse it and ready to use again. No scratching, or using any "coffee pot cleaners" you will ruin the surface (like my husband did!). Well, he is buying another one now, same brand. We can't live without it :)

We bought the refurbished one because of the price difference. It was like new. I don't think there was a single thing wrong with it and it was packaged like from the factory. It has been working just as expected. We also have the Tiger rice cooker that we bought from Costco, and we really like it a lot.

I've used it for about 1 year and it works well. It's made in China but its quality is pretty good.

I have owned this hammock for approximately 1 month and am extremely pleased with it. Some of the reasons why include:

1. Attractive. The photograph of the hammock does not do it justice. The red and greens are deep and rich, the oak spreaders shine. The stripes add a nice color dimension which is lacking in a rope hammock. It simply looks lovely swinging in the breeze under a shady tree in my backyard.

2. Comfortable. After reclining in a quilted hammock, I will not go back to a rope hammock no ropes cutting into you! Note that the quilting is light you get a bit of cushion, but it is NOT like lying on a bed. The potential con is that the fabric will not "breathe" like a rope hammock. It may be that the rope hammock (with the loose weave) is cooler on a hot day, but I have not had any problems with feeling overheated.

3. Well made. The hammock comes complete with everything you need to hang it immediately. This includes the tree hooks, chains (many hammocks don't include the chains) and a very clever hook/hanging system. Basically, the chain is welded to the center of a dual ended hook one side hooks into your eye-bolt or hammock stand. The other end is where you can drape the chain links in order to shorten the chain. It's a simple idea once it you see it, but it works very well. Your hammock will hang at the correct height. The chains appear to be rust-resistant, and the oak spreaders are treated with marine polish to help make them weather resistant.

4. Weather resistant. My kids left the hammock out and of course the tree dropped leaves on it and it rained. It dried quickly and I simply brushed off the leaves. Voila! Good as new. I was concerned that the rich colors would run/fade if it got wet, but the dye appears weather resistant.

This hammock is a winner.

Update: I have now had this hammock for over a year and it still looks like new! Granted, I stored it in my garage for winter, but it has been in use outside most of the year. Hurray for DuraCord Fabric! Truly, an excellent product!

I bought this as a present for my husband along with a stand. We placed it in an open patio area today with lots of sun. And apparently lots of birds. Within a few hours, there was bird poop all over it. Remarkably, much of it wiped off with a dry paper towel. And then with a wet soapy sponge the rest came off and you can't tell it was ever dirty. And the material dried really quickly. The material is awesome!

Has held up very well. We have had it for about two years and is still the same color has it was when we bought it. We do put it away in the winter time but sit outside all summer long.

After quite a few years of owning a cotton, open mesh, quality hammock, the squirrels decided to chew on the many knows in the ends of the hammock. I repaired it as best as possible but you can't win with a squirrel as your adversary.

Hence it was time to get a new hammock (not squirrel) and I purchased this beautiful quilted model. It is excellent. After using it all summer I can easily say this is the best hammock for comfort I have ever owned. It is a beautiful piece of work and the quilted fabric makes you think you are on memory foam.

This is the most terrible piece of electronic/small appliance/ home equipment I have ever had to deal with. The unit is ridiculously heavy, and therefore difficult to move and very frustrating and difficult to position near windows of various heights from the floor. It heats the room as much as it cools, rendering it as "useful" as a fan sucking in air in a window on a hot and humid day. It does this because the pipe that "vents" to the outside radiates heat through itself. The hot part of the A/C unit is still in the room with you, not hanging out the window, and therefore renders the cooling ineffective.

Go to insulate this trash thin plastic pipe, and its fitting cuff teeth that fasten it to the back of the unit snap off. It is poorly built, over-priced, and a frustrating waste of money and time.

The graphical display on the unit takes a thorough re-read of the manual to interpret all its obnoxious symbols for operation. I cannot wait to bring this back and retrieve every wasted nickel spent on it.

My advice to you is to buy a window unit. If you must get a "portable" one, don't buy Amcor. They Amsuck.

I purchased a NanoMaxA12000EH several years ago to cool a large bedroom of around 300 sqft. The equipment is advertised for up to 400 sqft. Presumably more than adquate for this application. Window units are sized at about 20 btu per sqft or in this case 6,000 btu. To be immediately noted is that it takes a lot more btu per square foot for this and other portable air conditioners to achieve the same outcome as a window unit half the size in btu.

So how did it work? Not well at all. On a hot day starting with the room in the mid 80 degree range with say 60 percent humidity it cannot cool the room down. It may drop the temperature 1 degree per hour. If we cool the room with a fan it can drop the temperature from say 78 degrees to 74 degrees in 2-3 hours. It of course provides comforting cool air if you focus on you.

A call to AMCOR support revealed that the technician thought I was definitely at or above the limit of its capacity at 300 sqft.

In use it is easy to see why it is slow. It adds considerable heat load to the room through the exhaust tube and in particular the large plastic attachment the connects the tube to the window vent. This plastic can be very hot to the touch and it is of course inside the room. The tubing is less hot however I have it as close to the window as possible (2 feet) to minimize the length the tube is played out. Presumably a long stretch of tube will also generate a lot of heat like a dryer duct. In sum, the unit is adding substantial heat load to the room severely compromising cooling efficiency. I addressed this issue by placing wet towels on the tubing and large plastic fitting. So long as they are wet they do keep it cool.

I also learned from the service rep you cannot operate the heating feature without also having the tubing installed in the window. Of course on a cold day you probably do not want an insert in your window.

Since the compressor, fans, etc. are inside the room it makes more noise than a window unit.

The filters (3) are white so it is easy to miss seeing that they should be cleaned.

On the plus side it is easy to roll around and install the vent in the window although I had to upgrade the insulation around the edge of the window insert to keep hot air that was vented circulating back into the room. I looks nice and it avoids having an unsightly window unit sticking out of a front window.

In sum, if you want cooling you are well advised to get a good window unit many of which are not that hard to insall. This unit would be best used in a room of 200 square feet or less.

Purchased my Amcor ALTL 12,000EH about three years ago. Wanted one to cool and heat my windowless two car attached garage. I decided to set it up on a work bench and vent to the attic area rather that cutting a hole in a wall or door.

Living in coastal Georgia it does get the temperature to comfortable level in both summer and winter.
