This is the second order for the same model thermostats. The first was correct and is working as expected. The second order though for the same model, had a lower model shipped. The outcome, my heat did not work for a couple of weeks while I wrestled with the manufacturer who is not customer oriented. I will reuse the ETD620W1 shipped in small rooms and try to get the correct ETD620W2 model shipped this time. This could have been a catastrophe.

I thought that this would be a good gift for my brother-in-law's home office. He always likes a cool drink at hand. First of all I didn't particularly care about the condition when it arrived. It definitely didn't look new with a number of fingernail scratches on the top in the handle area although the box it came in seemed unmolested and the packing seemed original. The black finish also looked hazy. This product is also billed as an "office" cooler but the inside caution sheet said that it had to be turned off after a few hours "or damage will occur". Their description here at Amazon says 10 hours but I don't recall seeing that when I ordered this as a Christmas gift. So you have to babysit this thing all day to make sure it doesn't die? Not much of a "office" cooler. It is also a bit noisy with the fan in the back being loud. It uses the same fan as your average computer case so you'd think it would be about as loud as that. But it's louder.

Overall, I wouldn't do this product again for what I intended, keeping drinks cool at the office. Maybe for the car or something but it's really kind of stupid design for that use.

Unbelievable. My wife and I needed something on the same floor as our baby's room. And then after about 3 months of use, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE!!! We had a dinner party and I smelled smoke! It was just about to burst into flames and I caught it. It made some kind of high-pitched buzzing noise and then lit up like a fuse. Good thing it was 6P in the afternoon! Craziness. And the sh-t is made in China, so good luck getting a refund.

They don't make it very clear, but there IS a time limit on this mini fridge. It says in Amazon's listing that you can't run it for more than 10 hours or "damage may occur." It should be made more obvious in the packaging and labeling that you can only use it for short times. I think 10 hours is being generous, since performance seems to slow earlier than that. Works okay for very short times, but that's all.

Although it is exactly the size as advertised, I was a bit surprised at how small it was. I wanted something a bit bigger. However, I am finding I prefer its small stature. It is perfect for use in my office as it fits nearly anywhere and also great for travel, which I do quite frequently. It keeps my son's milk cold enough, which is why I purchased it. I have not yet used the heating feature. Just be careful: the black box on the cord can get hot.

It warms. But, it missed an important feature -it does not have power adjustor, with which people can select the rigth power depending on the temperature. Thus, it can't be used during sleep time when people can't adjust its power manually.

I recently built a new backyard workshop and needed an A/C unit for the Texas heat. I could have just put in a window unit; but, I wanted something that was more efficient, quieter, and that didn't block my single window.

After some research, I opted to go with this Klimaire unit since it had the features I was looking for and is also geared more toward installing it yourself than the competing models are.

Anyway, here are the things I like about the Klimaire Mini-Split:

1) It really was pretty easy to install. I'll talk about this more in a bit; but, there are several videos online and the unit comes with pretty much everything you need.

2) It has A/C, Heat, dehumidifier, and fan settings. That covers pretty much anything I could want.

3) It is EXTREMELY quiet! Both the inside and outside units are barely audible, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.

4) The remote can be mounted to a wall and works great.

5) It is very efficient at 19 SEER. This shouldn't cost much to run at all.

6) It looks great and is very simple to operate.

Even though I am loving the unit overall, there is one irritating problem that I've run into. When the unit is on A/C mode, the fan will switch between levels 1, 2, & 3 it never turns completely off. That makes me feel bad leaving it on when I'm not out there (the building is extremely well insulated using foam). The dehumidifier setting does the same thing.

Fortunately, the Auto mode lets the fan turn completely off; but, it tries to keep the temperature in the room at an 'exact' level. So, in the summer, if you have the unit set at 78 degrees, it will run the A/C until the building cools down and can actually switch to the heater if the temp goes just a little low. It's crazy to be wasting energy running the heater in the Texas heat! The auto mode would be MUCH better if it would focus on a range rather than an exact temp. For example, if the A/C would turn on when the temp gets above 78, but the heater turns on when the temp gets below 65.

Anyway, that's something I can live with but it's still irritating.

As far as the install goes, the hardest part was running the electrical out to the building in the first place. I'd never done anything with 220 volt before, so it was a learning experience and took me a couple of days. Although, to be fair, I had to run electrical out there anyway. This unit requires a 220 volt, 30-Amp power supply.

Once the power was connected from my new sub-panel to the A/C disconnect, I basically followed these steps:

1) Put a couple of 18"x18" concrete pavers where I wanted the exterior unit and bolted it down.

2) Mounted the bracket for the interior unit to the wall.

3) Drilled a 3" hole in the wall where I wanted the pipes to go through. NOTE: The instructions call for a 3" hole, but I actually wish I had gone a bit smaller. Be sure to look at the conduit they provide for going through the wall, since that is actually closer to 2". I ended up filling around the conduit with Great Stuff gap filler.

4) Wired the provided electrical cable to the inside unit.

5) Ran both copper pipes, the drain pipe, and the electrical wire out of the building through the hole that was drilled in step #3.

6) Hooked everything up to the exterior unit.

7) Wired the exterior unit to the A/C disconnect using wire that I had leftover from wiring the building. I ran the wire through some 1/2" LiquidTite flexible conduit that I also had leftover, and that I had purchased from Home Depot.

8) I opened the lower valve and briefly pressed the discharge button on the upper valve 4 times to get the air out of the system. This process is shown on some of the online videos.)

9) At this point, I just wrapped up the pipes, made everything look good, and turned it on. :)

Overall, if you're looking for a highly efficient, and quiet A/C & heater solution this is a great choice! I would definitely recommend it, even with the irriating "Auto-Mode" issue.

Hey, Guys. I bought two units, the KSIM009-H219 and the KSIM018-H217. Research led me directly to the Klimaire distributor in Miami (I'm in Jacksonville) where they responded to my call for info. I bought directly from the dist where they cut me a break on the shipping for the two. Ordered on Thursday, they shipped on Monday SAIA freight and arrived in Jacksonville the next day where I picked them up at the terminal. Packaging was spot on, no issues.

Installed myself, but I'm no stranger to mechanical stuff. I think an installation of this sort for a newbie would be a challenge since there's so many disciplines involved. The biggest challenge is working with the supplied lineset and making sure you don't damage it or run short since you don't want to modify the length. Careful planning always pays off here. After the typical hookup, I vacuumed the lines for about two hours on both units, opened the liquid line a bit to charge the vacuumed lines and evap up to atmospheric pressure, opened both packing valves and buttoned everything up.

At this point checked for leaks with a leak detector solution and found I had leaks on three out of four connections. Some serious tightening solved those problems and I'd say that was the most surprising, it takes more than you'd think it would. I worked with a plumber for several years as a young pup and the answer to "how tight should this be?" was "till it stops leaking."

After flipping the breaker on the disconnects I started each system and have simply been amazed at how quiet and seemingly efficient these units are. I think you could run them both on power from a hamster in a wheel. Matter of fact, I did connect both of these units to my gen-set so we'll have cooling in those two rooms when the storm hits. Less than 4 amps on the small unit and 7 on the large unit. Amazing.

My thoughts on reviews. Anyone that is considering making a large purchase such as these will do some research and inevitably run across negative reviews and there are those here as well. But, any company that is putting forth the effort to bring items like this to market is not doing it to fail. Sure there are issues and problems that can and do arise, but that's from any company, with any product. More often than not problems stem from a language barrier, and this is where patience, compassion and persistence will help solve most problems. If you're looking for trouble, you'll probably find it. Those with a bad experience will rush to warn while those with a good experience will simply enjoy and move on so one needs to see all reviews in that context.

Of course most AC guys in the states hate messing with something they did not sell you, or something they are not familiar with. Most everyone is biased in one way or another. Knowing that and wanting to learn something new can make a project such as this rewarding if you do it yourself. Of course it's all at risk, and they'll be no shortage of people with a God complex to warn you of that fact.

All in all, I'd say that if you're a good car mechanic and know your way around the construction of a house and have an understanding of home wiring beyond the basics, you'll be happy.

Of course, mine could fail tomorrow.

I, like one of the other reviewers installed it in a workshop that I built in Texas. I have installed central air in the past, but it has been quite a few years. The biggest issue that I had was that the directions could have been worded better. I recommend that if you choose to install it yourself, watch a few installation videos on-line. This helps clarify a few issues that I came across with their directions. They do not have to be the same brand to understand the concept. There is an LG split system video (tips and how to) on You-Tube.

I found a discrepancy in the breaker size in the directions and the outside unit. I went with the 20 amp breaker stated on the actual unit, not the generic directions.

I did have to go out and purchase a vacuum pump, a set of gauges and an adapter for the gauges to hook up to the 410a refrigerant line. This required adapter is not included. Some people choose not to do this step and just purge it. I can't see how the moisture can be eliminated from the line set by skipping this step.

I put a kink in the low pressure line and decided to cut the section out and silver solder it.

Buy a bottle of leak detector from Home Depot or Lowe's to check the fittings. I really had to tighten down on the factory flair fittings to eliminate two almost undetectable leaks (so tight that I was afraid of breaking the line).

I did not change the length of the line set during the installation. This way I did not have to add or eliminate any of the refrigerant.

So far it is working great.

First when the product was delivered, the box was damaged and the outside unit was dented. I made the mistake of accepting the order. We contacted Heat and Cool, and got no help from them . I kept the unit and got it installed. At first, it worked great. We used it all through the last winter without an issue. When it got to summer -it wouldn't give off cool air. The fan worked, but there wasn't any cool air coming out (only room temperature). Ugh! Now we're getting into winter, and it won't heat. Also the fan won't go above low when we use the heat setting. I'm not sure how much more money I should dump into this lemon -or start looking for something else.

Save your time and money and spend it on a higher quality unit from a more reputable company.

I am extremely pleased with these filters. I had bought a Filtrete filter at home depot that was supposedly the same size but in actual measurements was way too big for my older Honeywell air cleaner unit.

If I remember right, that mistake cost me thirty dollars or so for the one filter as I mangled the filter trying to force it in.......

I bought the Nordic Pure filters and was delighted that because of their smaller actual measurements they fit perfectly. They were also well packed and arrived in perfect condition. Considering the free shipping they are very reasonably priced for six filters. I would be pleased to buy from this seller again.

I wish reviewers would state how long they have owned the product. I waited to review because, of course, a product that breaks less than 3 months in doesn't deserve a 5 star rating. I will come back and update this review when I get more info on how it can be fixed and how much of a hassle that will be. It is too big and heavy to send in for repair.

I really liked it at first. It's nice looking, and has rollers. It was ideal for fall heating, and as a supplement to the furnace in really cold weather. I am using my furnace way less. It has added bonuses of a timer delay start (so can have it go on shortly before I get up) and a timer delay off.

However one week short of having had it 3 months (and not in the dead of winter, though we had a cool autumn) it suddenly turned off. I cleaned the filter and thought I'd be all set, but no. It will run for a while and then turn off. So I'm back to using my mini heaters, and am waiting to hear from the manufacturer.

Update as of 1/8/13: Forget about warranty protection. The manufacturer is impossible to get in touch with.

It should also be noted that the description provided here is incorrectno, you cannot plug it into any 120V outlet.. it needs it's own 15 amp circuit. You might have several outlets that are on the same circuit. There is only one place downstairs in my house where I can give it it's own circuit, so this is something to check out before you buy.

Update as of 1/10/13: After filing a claim with Amazon that was just denied (as it was a third party seller) I finally received a call back from the manufacturer, and they said they will ship me parts so I can fix myself! (The unit itself says: "Caution: Do not open. No user-serviceable parts inside".) I'm not optimistic but that's the update, and I am shopping for a new little heater..like the Lasko or DeLonghi. I'm sad this one didn't work out; I really liked it for 2 1/2 months!

Are you like me? Do you know darn well that you'll be serving ice cream after dinner but never seem to remove the ice cream from your freezer to that it can thaw to a reasonable scoopability? And do you then break out a hammer and chisel and begin to hack away at rock hard ice cream to the amusement of your friends as bits of mint chocolate chip fly about the kitchen as you feebiliy attempt to extricate enough ice cream for a single serving? Actually, I've never done that. What I do is just serve the cookies and bag the whole "let's have ice cream" altogether, but that's not important right now.

Apparently, over frozen ice cream is a real problem these days. There are throngs of people who forget to thaw the ice cream, and in a pinch, they need to scoop that stuff fast, else the party shall be in ruin. Or something like that.

So, enter this fun and exciting product that consists of a mildly heated scooper that promises to dig through the rock solid ice cream like a warm knife through butter. If only, my friend, if only.

First, it's big. Yes, my friend, you can wield this item like a barbarian with a heavy club as you attack your half gallon ice cream container. I mean, this thing is big. If you're under five foot four, you're better off hacking at the ice cream with a two handed broad sword. Ok, it's not THAT big, but believe me now when I tell you that small hands will find this scoop unwieldy.

Second, the heating element in this takes about as long to reach optimum temperature as it would take you to actually hand churn the ice cream. Understand that the goal of the product is not to actually get hot. That would melt the ice cream into a soupy mess. The goal isn't even to get warm, that would be somewhat useful. No, the goal is to get amusingly tepid to the point that if you let it heat up inside your hand, you won't be exactly sure if the item heated up on its own or whether your hands did all the warming.

Third, in the time that it takes for the item to heat up to optimum temperature your ice cream, which you should have taken from the freezer by now, is already in the process of thawing. So, lucky you, eventually you have a mildly slightly tepid scooper working at ice cream that is now reasonably thawed. Who is to say it actually did anything.

So, I tried it on ice cream straight from the freezer and guess what....it still took a Herculean effort to actually scoop ice cream. Hammer and Chisel plus one, tepid ice cream scoop, zero.

The scoops that are on the market that actually transfer your hand heat into the scoop are as effective, if not more so, because they can actually be held in your hand. This thing is just too big.

And once the ice cream is actually no longer hard frozen, the next problem you have is that the mildly tepid device then overperforms so that you end up with scoops that have soupy outsides. By this point, just use a regular scoop.

So, upwards of $50 for something that is too large, ineffective, and ultimately not so very useful is too much to spend on something that then takes up too much space in a drawer or cabinet.

Frankly, you're better off using a kitchen timer to ding when it's time for you to take the ice cream out of the freezer so it can thaw. Better yet, save the money on the timer and tie a strink to your finger as a reminder.

Skip this product. Not worth it.

User Update: I realize that there are those who say that their aged mother or father really likes this item because they have arthritis or are too weak to scoop the ice cream. It still takes forever and a day to heat up and ultimately, waiting for the thaw achieves the same thing and is one less large item to clutter up mom or dad's drawer. But, to each his own.

As stated above I purchased this product in hopes that I could with more ease scoop out ice cream.............. I'm handicapped with only a left arm / hand. When I received the " Deni 5111 Electric Ice-Cream Scoop with Nonstick Surface " I plugged it in and notice it took considerable amount of time to heat up. When attempting to scoop out the ice cream it became immediately apparent that the electric scoop was simply too under-powered to scoop out the ice cream plus with every attempt it cooled too quickly which leads you to allow it to warm up again with every scoop.

I've also noticed trying to continue to use it even though it does not retain it's preset temperature is futile as it's bulky size does not make it a good scoop in the first place.

All in all I am extremely disappointed that this product was not further tested before releasing it on the public who then is forced to "beta test" this for them (manufacture).

Bought this unit two months ago and it did fine--although not really adequate--for our open loft space of about 800 SF. On the plus side, it is convenient in that it vents through the window and is portable. However, having read other reviews it seems ours is not the monster cooling machine that some folks seem to have.

It did pretty well until we had our recent heat wave, at which point it kept giving the FL error message (need to empty water) and shutting itself off. According to the manual, this should not have to be done in AC mode, but we figured "hey, it's a heat wave and really humid; makes sense, right?"

The first time this happened about a week ago, we emptied the water (not much of it) and it ran again for a few days before shutting off again. This progressed from shutting off every day, to every few hours, to its current status of shutting off immediately even though there is no water in it! It won't run AT ALL.

We called LG and followed instructions again to reset, clean filters, vacuum any dust/pet hair (which was already done), to no avail. This was followed by removing the color and meticulously cleaning the entire interior to make sure there was no dust in there. As of right now, we have a service call set up to see if a pro can't get it working again. Needless to say, this is super-frustrating because we're suffering record-breaking heat.

LG LP1111WXR 11,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with remote

With our local power company estimating one week to restore electricity after a storm and temperatures reaching nearly 100 degrees each day, some sort of A/C for our basement walk-out rec-room was essential. Our two-story house became virtually uninhabitable due to the high heat, except for the basement. We have a good generator, so power wasn't an issue as long as the A/C used 115 volts. Some units in this BTU range need 230 volts, which we didn't have. We bought this unit from a local Home Depot.

Features:

running continuously, it kept a 1000 square foot (well insulated) rec room in the low to mid 70's on days it reached nearly 100 outside.

Even though it's pretty loud, we could watch TV with it running, with no problem. The operating sound is mostly the whooshing of air.

it doesn't come with a drain pan, which is actually OK. After running for 2 full days in the hot humid Washington DC are, there was zero water to drain.

the unit's control panel is intuitive. We didn't need the instructions or the remote. Plug it in, turn it on, set the temperature you want.

since you don't have to lift it up (after it's in the room where you want it), installation is easy on your back.

this device can be used as a dehumidifier, in which case, exhausted air isn't sent to the outside. In this case, you'll need to buy a drain hose for the water (but that connection is only one inch off the floor!).

rolls easily on a hard floor (but not so easily on carpet).

Other:

This design is excellent for emergency A/C use, or if the other types of A/C are impractical for the room. It exhausts hot air out the window that it sucks in through other household windows/doors i.e., a corresponding quantity of [warm] outside air is being pulled into the room you're trying to cool, from other places in your house. Thus, this design is less efficient, electric-usage wise, than a window A/C unit; and far less efficient than a central A/C, or a ductless A/C.

The unit itself is 33" high, 18.5" wide, 14" deep, and it has to be about a foot out from the window to give the 6" flexible exhaust hose room to bend.

this unit is called "portable", which is technically valid since it's on wheels. However, it has to be exhausted through a window after installing the supplied widow trim. That means it has to stay at the window where that trim is mounted. In other words, it's not portable if it's being used. The only time it will be rolled more than a few inches is when it's not "installed". A truly portable unit could be rolled to, and used, anywhere there's a 115 v receptacle.

LG includes variable-width trim to install at the bottom or side (on a slider) of a window, that the unit's 6" exhaust hose plugs into. These plastic parts are pretty thin, so be careful they don't crack. Screw it to the window frame to hold it in place if it is to stay there awhile. However, since an installation is only for a few days, duct tape can be used to hold it in place and seal the opening. After the emergency, just peel the duct tape off and remove the trim.

One end of the 6" exhaust hose snaps into the base unit and the other end snaps into that window trim. The ends of this hose are thin plastic and could be broken; so be careful.

One year warranty is fairly typical.

My husband and I purchased this item in June 2012 for a small summer home. We have used it maybe a total of 3-4 weeks over the past year. It has been very hot and humid lately which is when you want a functioning unit the most. Two days ago, the Air Conditioning unit began to leak a significant amount of water onto a new rug and the wood floor. The rug is stained with an orange color (like rust) permanently. We tried to take the unit apart to see if there was a hose that became disconnected and was causing the water to leak all over the floor. This was not the case. There is no drain hose. There is a magnetic float that tells the unit to shut off if the water reservoir is full and needs to be emptied. We only looked on the inside and did not manipulate anything. After we put it back together the unit flashed FL and says the water if full. There is not water in the reservoir. The customer service assistance at LG is lacking tremendously. I spent about 2 hours of my vacation time trying to understand the customer service representative. They basically told me my unit needs service. As I have read in many of the other reviews, the service cost is just shy of a new unit. I requested to speak to a supervisor at LG which took another 30-45 minutes of my vacation time because they lost my call when transferred, and then I was placed on hold for a very long time. It is so frustrating!!!!! Then I was told they could not help me because I cannot locate my original receipt. Oh and by the way, a warranty card does not assist them with finding a purchase date and location. The warranty card goes to a third party for who knows what!!!

I will never purchase another LG product again.

We have owned this until less than 2 years. Within the first three months of owning it we had it serviced because there was no charge in it. We had owned it long enough at that point that we couldn't return it. Now, during the next warm season we discover the evaporator coil needs replaced which is a $200 repair. We own several LG products in our home and this will be the last one. While contacting LG the customer service department told us the entire sealed system was covered for 5 years, but when our technician went to submit a claim they were told it wasn't covered. There is lots of inconsistent information from their customer service number. We found it to be a complete waste of two hours trying to navigate through the company at LG and that is only if you can find someone who speaks good enough English to answer your questions. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THESE PRODUCTS!!! STAY AWAY!!!!

I bought two of these for my 1000 square foot condo in Chicago because window units are not allowed. We just had the hottest summer I can remember, and our condo remained cool. This unit didn't turn our apartment into a freezer, but it did keep it to about 75 degrees during 100 degree days. This unit is well made, except for the adjustable window mount, which is flimsy. The square footage recommendation is overstated, but I'm happy with my purchase. Had these two units for three years. Still going strong. No complaints

Our fireplace is wood-burning/propane. We can't use wood due to allergies and found out that the propane was not properly run so that left us with an unusable fireplace due to its small and odd shape. We found this insert and purchased it hoping that our measurement were correct. It fits well, is lovely to look at, and does a very good heating the room. Very happy with our purchase.

After going through the specs, I felt that this insert would work with my new Equinox 18MM3207-M250 stand that I got at a great price. I received it quickly and it went right in with no problems at all and works like a champ. I can hear a slight buzz without the heat being on and it gets a bit louder with the heat. But overall I am very happy with this choice and glad that I got it. I hope it will give us many years of service. It certainly makes an already great piece of furniture even better.

I bought this fireplace insert for a remodel job in our basement. After reading the reviews we decided to go with this model, and so far I'm really impressed with it. I still need to build the fireplace/mantel, and after that's done this unit should just slide right it. I took it out of the box, sat it on the counter, plugged it in, and in about 5 seconds we had instant flame and heat. The flames/embers look realistic for an electric fireplace, and this unit appears to be as realistic as another unit we bought a few years ago for about 6 times the price. For the money, this appears to be an excellent unit.
