I purchased this fireplace back in 2009 and only now have decided to write a review. As I am writing this review, I am watching the reflections of the flames in the window as the rain falls outside. The fireplace does work well. I can get about a 45 minute burn with the fire pits at 2/3 full.

As mentioned in the package instructions, the fireplace can generate a fair amount of heat up to at least three feet in front and above. After all, it burns real fire. :) I put the fireplace on a drywall in my bedroom. When I use the fireplace, I take down the wall decor hanging above the fireplace.

The molly bolts supplied with fireplace did not work properly on my drywall (I am not much of handyman. You may have better luck.) I had to buy another set Walldog 1.25 " screw and anchor bolts to properly attach the mountings to the drywall.

The fireplace surface also scratches easily. So, be careful when handling it.

Relative to comparable alcohol burning fireplaces, this one is an absolute steal. Ours arrived promptly, in great shape. It's beautifully finished as well. Also, given the product's relatively light weight, it can even be mounted on a movable platform. For example, I plan to mount it on the face of a pullout section of a wall that will contain our home theater system components.

The product's instructions do indicate that, while it can be mounted on plasterboard or wallpapered walls, it should be kept four feet away from flammables -draperies and the like. So I'm not certain whether it would be safe to mount it on a plywood-paneled partition, or whether it would be safe to hang an acrylic-covered framed print above it.

I've passed along these questions to the folks at Devon LLC who market the product, so hopefully we shall soon see. They were kind enough to have a real live human being answer their phone who promised to have an informed party respond to my inquiry, so I have my fingers crossed...

I bought this fire place for my apartment since I remodel it and supreme the former fireplace (traditional one). When I mount it it really enhance the wall it is in,looks great, calls everyones attention, the design is simple but awsaome, it really gives an additional touch to my leaving room.

The fire looks good, it doesn't heat much, it is more a decorative element that brings style to any modern room than a heat source device.

Claims of 19,000 BTU are greatly exaggerated. My garage is 400 sq ft and has 240v service. A $40 Home Depot heater does almost as good a job. Two $40 Home Depot heaters do a much better job than the L5600. This heater would probably do 150 sq ft easily. 200+ sq ft might be a stretch if it's in a cold area. I'm surprised Dayton would put their name on this heater.

I Purchased a #L5600 heater from Air & Water, instead model #3VU36

was sent. I checked the specs on the heater, which indicated

19,000 BTU's, for the 3VU36. It looks like Dayton upgraded the 3VU36 model

from 15,000 BTU's to 19,000 BTU's. Last winter I used two vornado

heaters to heat my garage. Please note that if you use two

1500 watt 110 volt heaters (in my case Vornado's) on the same circuit you

will probably have problems with the circuit breaker tripping. Also my electrical sub panel would get hot. I have also used a Reddy Heat 35,000 BTU propane heater to heat my garage.The reddy Heat propane heater is almost as loud as a Jet Engine. OK so on one hand the Dayton heater is noisier than a Vornado, and does not heat as fast as a propane heater. On the other hand the Dayton heater is quiter than a propane heater,(and does not burn up oxygen like a propane heater) and will heat an area faster than two Vornado's (which by the way, two heaters will beat up on your houses electrical wiring). All in all I am very Happy with the performance of my Dayton heater, my sub panel now gets warm instead of hot. Air circulation is better than a Vornado, and my Dayton heater heats my garage ALMOST as fast as a Propane heater. I would recommend this heater.

I already owned one, so when my Pool Man reinstalled my 2" lines, he moved

my 1st Hayward Valve over to my Inputs, (Drain & Filter) to better control

I did not try the heat function but was not very pleased with the cooling function. I set the thermostat function for 69. The current temp in the room was reading 80 degrees. I let the machine start to run, closed the bedroom door, and checked back in an hour. It had only gone down to 78 and the fan speed had already slowed. I turned it off and then turned it back on and reset it again to 69. I let it run all night and when I checked it the next morning it still only got down to 72 degrees. I have a similar sized LG machine in another larger room and it will cool the room down in 15-30 minutes. Although I did find this one to be slightly quieter than the LG, I would rather it be a little louder and be more productive in getting it to cool.

Also the attachment to the hose is a little tricky. With the LG, the attachment brackets on the hose between the window kit and the machine spins freely around the hose itself so you can hook the outside vent hose up directly to the machine very easily. With this machine the hose attaches like a screw. The whole hose has to rotate to screw it into the back of the machine. This is a problem because the other end of the hose screws into the window kit as well, the opposite way. So as you start to screw the hose into the machine it gets unscrewed from the window kit....confused yet? It just really annoying because you have to basically attach the window kit, then spin the hose and the entire window kit into the back of the machine before placing the window kit in the window.

got this for my tenants to cool part of the first floor and heat the finish basement in the winter. two weeks into july compressor go already. Amazon gave full refund witch was great. I felt that a 8000 btu window unit does a better job with ac compared to this 14000 btu unit.

Bought this 3 years ago for my baby's room. (the coldest room in the house) It worked great, stores well and this is the 3 winter of using it and it still works great. I am buying another one for my daughter in her basement room. It does well at heating up the whole room (bedroom) I have not used this in bigger open rooms to see how it works however it works great for smaller rooms, has the auto shut off when tipped, and also has the temp control, and shuts off when room is warm. I wish I read more reviews before purchasing this unit. As I write I'm shivering because even at 4 feet from my chair it is quite cold in my computer room for which I purchased this inefficient unit. It was an impulse buy without doing the necessary work of research. After an hour or two it might take the chill off a room but as far as really warming it up it just pumps out lukewarm air. I borrowed a friends (different brand) this fall and it was so much more effective at warming up the space I was in. Expecting this one to work the same because the price was right was a big mistake.

It works as if half the unit is not turning on. Unfortunately I threw the box away so I'll keep it until I can replace it and then get rid of it.

I've been using this heater regularly for over a year now and it still works just like it did when brand new. When I got it, the remote didn't work. Amazon sent me a new heater with a new remote and the new remote also did not work. I eventually figured out that the batteries in the remote were dead so I had to replace the batteries. This is my first radiant heater. I'm never going back to forced air heaters again. It feels like a fire or the sun but it doesn't get so hot that you can't have things near it. It heats up very quickly. It doesn't dry out my skin like forced air heaters.

This heater is surprisingly quiet. I am impressed. It's not as flashy as more expensive heaters but the performance is just as good as any other 1500w heater out there. Living in MN I've pretty much tried every type of space heater. I've used other heating coil fan style heaters, radiator, micathermic, quartz, and ceramic tower heaters. This is one of the least expesive space heaters that I've bought and it performs very well. It's hard to find a good heater that's quiet at any price point, let alone one with a digital thermostat that functions correctly. This one is a winner. It has a 3 yr. warranty which seems to be pretty standard with most space heaters. FYI I actually bought this at Target for a little cheaper (paid the same with tax) and plan on purchasing a second one.

This seemed like a great by reduce energy use, put out some heat, and cool to the touch, as it was going in my 2 yr old's room. First unit arrived, worked great! Heated room, cool to touch, and didn't need to run constantly. After about a week of very limited use it stopped working. Seemed to be a control malfunction, would display, but not turn on. OK, defective unit. Sent it back, got the replacement quickly. Worked great FOR ONE DAY! It now powers on, puts out a weird spark on the coil, heats for 4 seconds then clunks out. Doesn't seem safe and doesn't work. Either they have terrible quality control or something is wrong with their design, because I can't believe a company could put out a product that fails this miserably. Fool me once... It's getting returned now, off to look for something similar that works (kind of the baseline requirement).

I bought this heater in early October to help heat a bed room in my house. the room heated quick and i had it set to 75 F. for a little over a month it turned on and off keeping the room warm. today i walked into the room and it was cold. the heater light and temp was on and set to 75 F. push the power button and it just clicked and would not power off. i unplugged it and plunged it back in and now it set on high and will not change to temperature and the heater will not turn on. all i get now is a power light and a read out that says hi. this is the second Holmes product I've owned and both have had problems . Lasco makes a much better product as i have one for 12 years with non stop service. i will be returning this to the store. i really don't know how they are still in business.

The infrared heat warms you instantly, rather than merely warming the air. The UV air cleaner smells clean, and nice to have the option of shutting that feature off. The thing is handsome and small enough to tuck into the bottom of our bookcase cabinets when not in use. A huge disappointment. I wanted to heat a fairly small room (about 200 sq ft) and hoped that this product would do the trick without the help of standard baseboard heat. On a cold day, in the 20's for example, the unit raises the room temp by 1 or 2 degrees after an hour at the maximum setting. There is no way this unit could heat an area of 1000 sq ft.

Save yourself about 300 dollars and get a standard space heater like a Lasko. It will do just as good of a job as a "Comfort Furnace".

I can actually sleep with this thing. Has all the usual functions...installed easy peasy and cools our large bedroom very nicely. Love the low profile. A negative is that you can't really see the display, but I can live with that...also the air goes more up than at...which is actually a plus from my perspective.

UPDATE: I have ordered and use two of these now. Both arrived without damage that others mentioned. I continued to be pleased with these relatively quiet units that are less obtrusive and that provide good cooling.

No complaints whatever. This unit, rated 6000 BTUH, cools two full rooms, where a "big-box special" 10,000 BTUH unit doesn't quite manage one (slightly smaller than the two others). Its low-profile design produces an up-and-over air flow that distributes cool air around the room, instead of blowing straight out and directly on the people. It has separate fans for indoor cooling and outdoor condensing, so it's more efficient than a cheap single-fan unit and only makes noise when it has to. Not that it's noisy -at its worst it's better than most window units I've seen lately.

It's a little more pricey than the average big-box-store unit, but I consider the extra money well spent.

It was well packed and arrived in good order. I was a little worried because I'm a little feeble, and it was a couple of days before I could get some help installing it, but the instructions were clear and everything "just worked" right out of the box. Recommended!

I had trouble finding an air conditioner that would fit a window larger than 36". This one fits the bill. This works great in my office window. The unit fits well into the window with little effort. The low profile is a nice bonus, but the controls and spot on temp/etc controls are excellent as is the remote. We'll see how the summer works out, but the unit is quiet compared to many lesser window units. Yes, you do hear the extra fan (outside) and compressor turn on, but nothing to complain about given the low volume of the main fan, and much quieter than a $100 unit. I like the energy efficiency, and definitely appreciate the solid construction (much better than cheaper units, nothing rattles at all) so far. Installation hardware (includes quality expanding sides, leveling plate and insulation strips) and instructions were spot on, and perhaps 30 minutes at most to install, mostly spent unboxing and unwrapping it.

Main install "issue" with replacement windows in an older house is the lack of slope on the outside window ledge. I found that a $5 square table leg from local "big box home store" on the window sill raised the unit just enough to make the fit perfectly. I was unable to install a smaller 5000 BTU unit (a quality AC as well) in rear window due to height (room above garage in older house). This one fit the bill, and fit in the window perfectly. Airflow is definitely upward, but avoids the air blowing at you if your bed is close by, and is fairly adjustable given the low profile of the unit.

*added* summer temps hit 95F/35C and AC holds 20x12 room at 65F/18C without a problem. :-) nice!

The finished size of the filter is not what is printed on the label of actual product, the finished size is 19 7/8 x 24 7/8 x 4 3/8. It is too large to fit without having to smash the filter so the lid closes and seals properly. The label states the finished size is 19 3/4 x 24 3/4 x 4 3/8, this is the size I needed for my unit and is what I thought I was purchasing.

I don't know why Amazon.com is using a drawing of a bathroom vanity instead of a photo of this great little heat panel. Visit other sites to see what it really looks like. Photos show it as a grey panel with rounded corners. This is accurate, but what the photos don't show is that the front surface is covered with a soft, felt-like covering which adds to the warmth of this little gem. The back is just metal. It heats up quickly and silently and radiates warmth almost instantly. It would easily fit under a desk. It's hard to believe it only uses 150 watts of electricity. I like this unit better than others I've looked at, since it comes with attachable feet and the on/off switch has a red light to remind you that it's on. The switch and light are on the right side and can be easily seen from the front. I'm very pleased with it. But keep in mind, it's meant to be close to you, and it probably won't help heat up an entire room. Still, the warmth it radiates is impressive.

Wonderful, warm, safe, uses barely any electricity, and adds just that right amount of warmth to one person (on top of normal house heating). Great if you have one person in a household who gets cold, but the other people are not cold. Great if you sit at a desk all day and want a heat source near you that is safe. I purchased this for under my desk in my home office as my feet are always cold.

It works "okay" and emits a constant, small, soothing amount of heat, but does not get real warm.

I was finding myself pulling it between my legs. Then it felt much warmer. (Heat comes out both sides.)

I was sensible when I purchased it knowing that it is only 150 Watts ... there is only so much heat that a unit of that size will throw.

What I did next was the "ticket" to total and complete warmth for my feet under my desk!

After this purchase, I purchased a heated floor mat. (Foot Warmer – Cozy Toes – 18"W x 19"D x 1/2"H)

That floor mat product is excellent and gets very warm.

I now use the 2 products together and I'm extremely happy.

This heating panel is definitely better than nothing, but If I could recommend one or the other, it would be the floor mat. It emits much more heat directly to the feet.

This is a great little heater if you need to heat a small enclosed space or simply provide some extra warmth to an area. I use this heater for my birds. I was forced to move them into the basement and this heater allowed me to do that without compromising their health. The birds can bathe, relax, and play without getting too cold or too hot. There is no temperature adjustment but, really, it doesn't need it. The front gets hot but not enough to really catch fire or burn someone right away. Although, leaving your hand there for a few seconds might result in a minor burn. The lighted on/off switch is a nice touch. Overall, I like it so far... we'll see how long it lasts.

It is very easy to use and makes perfect hot water. Most of my friends who see it have never seen anything like it. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other brands and models but it sure is great and looks great; attractive water level indicator; high quality made; made in Japan. Just a simple white oyster color makes it very pleasing on the countertop. Just enough controls make it interesting but it's ultimately simple to use. When you refill it with water it knows enough to reboil automatically so you don't have to push any buttons. When the temperature gets to correct level it does not play any funny songs.

At night if it still has enough water in it, I just leave it on, and the water stays at the 194 temperature, which is where we like it in the morning. If I refill at night I push the 6 hour button and it will do it all starting six hours later. So operation can be very simple, just fill with water and after awhile push the buttons to dispense hot water. And the water does not have any strange flavors, just pure delicious tea-friendly oatmeal-friendly, soup-friendly hot water. Mine is made in Japan and purchased from a local Asian Market in San Rafael.

I'd been using Panasonic (Japanese) products until recently. I am very picky about small kitchen appliances because I use it everyday. This is one of the best among the product we can purchase in USA. It works perfect for making Japanese green tea even the one I bought at Costco (Itoen tea bags), lower temp brings out its natural sweetness. Also works great as my kitchen assistant it boils water quickly, perfect helper for making pasta, potato salad, steamer. LOVE IT !!!!!

I love this pot! We've used it for about 3 years now, works perfectly! Very easy to use, and you have hot water anytime you need. Easy to clean just add 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice (4 if it's really bad) in a pot filled with water and push two buttons together done! Rinse it and ready to use again. No scratching, or using any "coffee pot cleaners" you will ruin the surface (like my husband did!). Well, he is buying another one now, same brand. We can't live without it :)

We bought the refurbished one because of the price difference. It was like new. I don't think there was a single thing wrong with it and it was packaged like from the factory. It has been working just as expected. We also have the Tiger rice cooker that we bought from Costco, and we really like it a lot.
