21st Century lists wick style number 113 as compatible with my Toyostove RC-41 but the 113 style is completely different; pictured (at the time of this review) for BOTH 113 and 158 is a wick with three locating pins, wick PN 20450013 has three locator pins and 158 resembles what is shown. The style 113 does not have pins despite what is pictured and is a completely different size / shape / design and INCOMPATIBLE with Toyostove RC-41!!
I have 158 now after returning 113 and it is installed and working exactly as it should with no issues!

Just recieved the unit today. Installing the top bar on it was odd, and more difficult than it needed to be, the screws didn't seem to grip to the main unit. Otherwise installation was easy. When you look through the louvers you can see light through the back of the unit, which doesn't seem right to me. And you can see the styrofoam that lines the unit quite well both through the louvers and through the back. So thats where they saved some $$. With the styrofoam exposed like that I don't think I'd leave the unit in the window to brave a New York winter. It also doesn't appear to be airtight. It does get the room cool. The fan speeds are high, higher and blastoff. Not really a 'low' option, and its not quiet but I like white noise when I sleep anyway.
My next unit will have to have a remote though, and a digital temperature guage which this does not have. But that's for a richer time and a better economy. Until then, this one will work fine.
It is noisy, the compressor sounds like someone fired a gun next door when it kicks in and it seems like it is always kicking in or out. I am going to return this one if possible, if not I will sell it to someone I don't like. The fan is noisier on low than my GE's from home depot are on high. If you like the price, and don't mind noise buy this one. It also does not have a remote, I should have read closer and the temp. control is touchy, hot, move it a little and freeze. Nothing good to say. I just ordered a sharp 8,000 for around $30 more and it has energy saver, timer and remote. I buy a LOT from Amazon and this is the second item I have not liked and both were my fault for being a cheapskate. Amazon is wonderful and anyone that has shopped on line knows that for sure. Not Amazons fault, but they will probably send me a label to ship it back and it won't cost me a dime. They are always within a buck or two if they don't beat the competition straight up and the free shipping is free both ways if you buy from Amazon. Love Amazon.
Next day comment.
I called Amazon and told them about the problems with this product and that it was past the time window for return. They said "no problem" and sent me a prepaid mailing label. I also asked if it was OK to wait until the new one I ordered last night got here and got the same answer. I checked and the new one I ordered last night is already shipped. Love Amazon.
UPDATE
Less than two weeks after returning the prepaid package I got confirmation today that my credit card has been credited with the total amount of my order. My new AC is working great and Amazon has come through again. This is still a lousy product, but that is the great thing about Amazon, if you make a mistake the make it better.

I chose this particular model because it did not have all the fancies. Who needs another remote?? I live in a cottage with large rooms and very high ceilings. I just put this unit in the window, and I am a 60 y.o woman with a bad back and yes, I put it in alone! Naturally, I am sweating because I JUST put it in the window. I am in the back of my house and I feel it already way back here! It has only been operating maybe 10 minutes. In the reviews from others, some said this unit is noisy. I hear it but would hardly call it noisy. This is an outstanding buy! I was a little worried about ordering an item like this online and once again Amazon came through like a champ. Item was delivered in 2 business days. I let it sit at the door for a week waiting for someone to put it in for me. Yesterday's 85 degree temp made me give it a shot. I am proud of me! I made a good purchase and installation was a snap! Thanks Amazon, love you much!Best Deals for Frigidaire FRA082AT7 8,000 BTU Window-Mounted Compact Room Air
This is a great little air conditioner for the price. The only thing I wish it had is a thermostat to regulate the temperature. You must continually turn it on and off by hand to keep the room at the right temp. It does a great job though.Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA082AT7 8,000 BTU Window-Mounted Compact Room Air

Best Holmes HFH421-U Heater Fan with Adjustable Thermostat Deals

Here in MI things get cold quick and living in a cold finished basement makes things tough. My computer room is a tiny 6x10 and doesn't have vents for heat. The hallway near the doorway lacks them as well so it gets very cold. When I saw this heater for i figured to give it a try for that room.
The heat is just about instant. No waiting for it to warm up. The thermostat works nice to keep the room at a very comfortable level. Nice to have so you don't have to keep adjusting and turning on and off. Sound is very quiet. Much more quiet than my normal desk fan, but it sits on the floor under the desk. I just realized its sitting right on the carpet and I wouldn't worry about it falling over or anything. It is very sturdy and kicking it somewhat gently doesn't knock it over. The unit is very cool to the touch even while running. I actually picked it up while running and was examining the bottom.
I was kinda disappointed about one thing. From the picture on the box I assumed it would oscillate which would be a cool feature, but since its only its not a big deal at all. It does have a swivel base that turns about 45 degrees either way, but with it being so light I don't see a point.
This unit is 1500 watts ... um or amps ... whichever the case, my computer is a gamer computer and it draws ... a lot. So the point is that when I am gaming, I have noticed that every time the heater kicks on the lights dim a little bit just for a split second since I have them both running off the same circuit. I don't know if I would put them in the same outlet ... but then again nothing goes into the same outlet as the PC anyways.
Pros: light, quiet, instant heat, doubles as a fan, PRICE!
Cons: not really any unless you need one that oscillates or you are going to land an airplane with your Christmas lights this year.
The plastic grill does rapidly change color to show it's hot, but I found that unneeded because the grill itself never gets hot. At times, I've had it accidently fall over or get covered, and it's never overheated or made something crispy. :-)
The thermostat also works well, and is easy and user-friendly to adjust. The fan is very quiet; sometimes I don't notice it's on. It's very lightweight and is easily swiveled to fine-tune the direction.
Mine finally died after frequent use for 8-10 months, but I feel I got my money's worth, and I'm buying another to replace it.
My only issue is that it stopped functioning after only a month. I may have bought a bad one. I called Holmes, gave the serial number and promptly sent me a new one by UPS.
I was very pleased with their customer service and I just hope this one will last longer.

I used this both for cooling (in fan-only mode) and heating. The heat works great, and it warms up almost instantly. The cooling side is good, but it doesn't push as much air as some regular fans, so I need it a 2-3 feet away to feel enough breeze to cool me.The plastic grill does rapidly change color to show it's hot, but I found that unneeded because the grill itself never gets hot. I bought this heater early January when we went through some cold weather in Miami. I was very pleased with the way the heater was heating up my bedroom (about 12x12). You can set the heater at the temperature that is comfortable to you (note that there are no precise thermostats that allows you to set your room at a specific temperature, but just a comfort thermostat that works just fine). it generates a lot of heat in a short period of time and woks wonder. My only issue is that it stopped functioning after only a month. I may have bought a bad one. I called Holmes, gave the serial number and promptly sent me a new one by UPS.

Bought this to warm a cold study but it started sparking on the 3rd use ( and past time I could return it). Completely defective I can hear loose wire when I pick it up. The sparks were frightening if I hadn't been in the room I don't know what might have happened but now I understand how space heaters burn houses down.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HFH421-U Heater Fan with Adjustable Thermostat
I bought this in the winter of 2007 to heat a cold office. It worked well and I used it for a few hours each weekday for two winters. Toward the end of the third winter (last year), it started turning off after a few minutes of use. Now it stays on for about two minutes and then shuts off for 5-10 minutes. It's not being used in an enclosed space or with anything close to it; it seems to be sensing overheating without actually overheating. Maybe I'm expecting too much by thinking this should have lasted longer, but two and a half winters of use just doesn't seem like enough. I wouldn't recommend this heater.Friday, September 26, 2014
Royal Sovereign Water-Resistant Wall-Mount Ceramic Bathroom Heater Review
I love wall mount heaters in lieu of space heaters in our old home, especially for the safety of our small children. I bought one of these last year for my son's room (10 x 12). It keeps his room toasty warm, even on the coldest mornings. The fan circulates the air very well, unlike many of the other new heaters (that, in my experience, tend to heat very well but only in small areas). I've had a couple of other brands of the wallmount heaters some of which look a lot fancier and and some of which have fancy thermostats, but so far this one is the best by far. I liked it so much, I ordered two more this year to replace some of the "fancy ones" -one for our living room and one for the bathroom. I cannot recommend these highly enough.
P.S. It doesn't hurt that the price this year is half of what I paid for the same unit last year! The first one of these I got arrived broken (I could hear parts loose inside). The company promptly shipped me a replacement which ran about 10 minutes and stopped working. I called the company and left them a message, but they never returned my call.

Terrible, terrible fan and horrible customer service. We ordered this fan and had it for 2 weeks before a fuse broke and needed to be replaced in order for the fan to operate. We called the company and was told that we could return the fan and get a replacement within 3-5 business days. 2 and a half weeks later our new fan arrived. We set it up, plugged it in, and it doesn't work. It makes a choppy sound and doesn't oscilate. Do not waste your time or money on this fan!

Cheap SEI Narita Media Console with Electric Fireplace

First off, I would like to point out that I shopped both online and in stores for an electric fireplace for months. When I finally decided on this one, I still thought hard about it for weeks before I actually placed my order. This is the first time that I have ever ordered furniture online and I was very nervous about not seeing the product before making my purchase, but the other reviews had me convinced and the price was unbeatable anywhere else I looked (including Big Lots). So I ordered it, and I have had it three months now.
Shipping:
My new media console and fireplace arrived at my house (in Indiana) only a few days after I placed my order. It arrived in two very large, very heavy packages. One package contained the materials for the console itself and the other, which had "FRAGILE" written in large letters across it was the electric fireplace. There are many different pieces to the cabinet itself, so I recommend doing what I did which was opening the box somewhere with plenty of room, and laying out each piece to ensure that everything had been included (and to ensure that nothing had been damaged). Everything that was supposed to be included was there and intact.
Assembly:
Obviously, the console itself has to be assembled. The assembly wasn't difficult (as I am a 25 year old woman who did it by myself), but it is time consuming, taking about three hours to complete (although I took my time). The hardware didn't seem cheap to me and every major piece is fit with several wood dowels to help guide the pieces together perfectly. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER AND TAKING YOUR TIME!!! The pieces are designed to go together in a very specific order and once they have been locked together, it is almost impossible to take them apart again. This means that if you forget a step, you could be in big trouble. The instructions aren't super descriptive so read a couple of times to make sure you understand what you are doing. There is an optional support piece that is supposed to go in the middle of the shelf to help prevent the top piece from bowing if you have a somewhat heavy tv. I would recommend putting it in during assembly if you have a tv any larger than about 36 inches as I have already seen one review where the person didn't use the support piece, and his did bow under the weight of his tv. Once it was completed, I was however pleasantly surprised by how sturdy the unit was once it was constructed.
Product Review:
I did want to mention that the firebox itself isn't as deep as the cabinet is. This makes for a nice place in the back of the unit to put your power strip for all of your electronics so that you can place the cabinet flush against the wall without leaving an unsightly gap between the unit and the wall. It was a pleasant surprise. As I mentioned before, most of the main pieces of the unit are real stained wood and those that are not are still stained well to match the real wood pieces. Occasionally I go over the entertainment stand with wood polish, which brings out the nice espresso color in the wood. The unit itself is a beautiful, uniform color and is very sturdy considering that it was assembled. I love the cabinet space and width of the unit.
If you want a fireplace that looks like real fire, get a real fireplace. I spent a lot of time looking at these when I was shopping around and contrary to a couple of the reviews, I think the fire looks better than many of the electric fireplaces that I have seen (including several nice hotels that I have stayed at). I'm sure that they do make more realistic electric fireplaces, but you won't find any around this price, I've looked. The fire consists of varying shades of yellow and orange, but to me, the movement of the flames is about as as realistic as any I've seen. The brightness of the logs can be adjusted as well as the brightness/level of the fire, which is nice when you want the fire to seem low or when you are trying to watch a movie on the tv and you don't want the brightness of the fireplace to be distracting. I have a fairly small living room, so I can feel the heat from the heater on the couch when it is at medium setting, but I could see where it probably wouldn't heat a larger room by itself. In my case however, the space heater in the unit adds a nice warmth to the room (sometimes too warm). The remote control allows you to change the brightness of the logs and the fire, and to turn the heater off or on, but the thermostat for the heater must be adjusted on the firebox itself.
After three months of having this product, I must say that I am in love with it. With all of the features, I really feel like I got lots of "bang for the buck". It adds a very welcoming glow and warmth to my living room and I get compliments on it every time I have company. For the price, definitely five stars.
The only con I have is the flame is only amber. I could not really tell it was amber only in the picture. Come on guys...couldn't you have put a little red in there to mix up the colors?! It is obvious it is not a real flame...which is what I want...but the amber only color makes it a little less comfy when lit.

I really like this piece. The unit is very solid and a beautiful finish on the wood. The instructions were very good and was easy to assemble without a hitch. If you have seen fireboxes in stores and thought they looked good, dont buy this one. The firebox is no where near what you will see in stores. This is not a good Dimplex type firebox that you might get otherwise. It looks terrible. The logs look bad, doesnt resemble a fire much at all, you dont see flames, just weird glowing light. The dimplex insert is soo much nicer and this is not that. The furniture part is nice, but the firebox is horrible. Also the motor in the firebox makes a loud annoying sound and causes vibrations in the unit. Not Recommended.Honest reviews on SEI Narita Media Console with Electric Fireplace
The console arrived in two boxes. One (console)weighing in at 98lbs., and the second (fire box) weighing in at 38lbs. The console arrived completely in pieces with all screws and parts necessary to put it together. The instructions I would not rate for a beginner as they are not well displayed. It took six hours to put the console together but everything was there and the wood was not fiber board stuff you commonly find at IKEA. Once put together it is a very solid piece of furniture, but I was concerned when I saw the IKEA type screws to hold certain sections of the wood together. The firebox is all one piece and slides in to the finished assembled console with a wood block and screws to keep it in place. I found this to still keep the firebox loose and added two small wood screws up against the back of the firebox to help keep it more snug. Once it was all setup with my television components I plugged in the fireplace and turned it on. The heat unit works great and will nicely supplement the heat in the winter for this one bedroom apartment in Portland, Oregon. The flame and log functions all work great although I was disappointed that the logs didn't better resemble more red coals burning around the logs with instead being the same colors as the flame (yellow/orange). It was not worth taking the whole thing apart to send it back, but a better close-up picture of the flame and logs would be great for future purchasers. Overall I am pleased with the size and dimensions of this console/fireplace. However, next time I pay this kind of price for something like this I will buy one assembled and working before I make the purchase. I give this product a four star rating because of the wood, glass in the doors, and the solid construction after it was assembled.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for SEI Narita Media Console with Electric Fireplace
We received this yesterday and put it together in a few hours. I expected the quality to be a bit better for the price, but all the same it looks great. We had looked at the Espresso model but opted for this lighter color so glad we did. Some reviewers on the espresso model stated that they were unhappy with the flame because there wasn't enough color variation, but we are very happy with it. We have wanted an electric fireplace for a long time, since we can't have the real thing. This would probably warm up our bedroom if it were in that room with the door closed, but we have this in our living room near a stairway and kitchen so we didn't notice a big difference in the overall warmth of the room. However, we have only had it for one day. Standing in front of it with the heat on high, it definitely puts out good heat though so we'll see after extended use how that goes. I purchased this candle warmer to melt a lotion candle, but have since also used it to melt a normal wax candle. It works great! I've had it running continuously for several weeks. It keeps the room pleasantly scented without any of the risks of flame. Plus, the wax doesn't burn, so I think the candle will last much longer. I'm thinking of putting some of my other burned-down candles on the warmer to even them out. I know some reviewers didn't like that it took a long time to completely melt a large candle, but with a smaller one (the $1.99 Tindra candles from IKEA), I found it melts in less than half an hour.
I've tried a lot of things to keep my rooms scented (plug-ins, sprayers, etc.), and I think I'm sold on the candle warmer. It is a little consumptive, but most active room fragrance devices take power, so that is likely close to a wash. But with the candle warmer, I have a virtually endless number of scent choices at a wide range of prices, unlike a proprietary diffuser. I'm definitely planning on one for my office as well.
It's generally difficult to burn off the last bit of your candles because the liquified wax puts out the flame, so I loved the idea of creating my own layered candle using complimentary scents. I purchased these candle wicks on Amazon: Gelly Candle Wick & Anchors-9' Wick, 12 Anchors and together both products have worked great!

I purchased this guy for two reasons: I wanted to use it in our combined living/dining room area without having to light the candle and disperse smoke, but the scent of the candle doesn't travel far enough when using the warmer as opposed to lighting the candle. It does work well in smaller spaces. The second reason I bought the warmer was to use up the last of my Yankee candles to create my own layered candles. I really enjoy it! It's so much better than lighting a candle and then blowing it out and then you have all the smoke smell. None of that with this product.Monday, June 16, 2014

We originally had the Holmes Whisper-Quiet heater and LOVED it and all the heat it pumped out. But the prong would get terribly hot and I worried about using it continually. I contacted Holmes customer service and they were awesome! They sent us a prepaid shipment box to return our little Holmes heater and replaced it with this model. I was skeptical because I have purchased so many crappy space-heaters over the past few years. (We have oil heat...ouch!) They assured me that if I wasn't happy with this heater, I could return in and they would send something else...really, I can't emphasize how great their customer satisfaction department is!
Well..from the start, this little heater made me happy. I keep it in the area of the house that I work in and it's quiet and very effective. The one and only criticism I have is that in the "eco-smart" setting...the heater switches back and forth between low to high setting, which you know is nice, but our other two space-heaters let me set the heat just on the low setting if I want. But other than that....it's terrific!

I have a panel bedroom that is approximately 15x15 and it's always freezing. I needed a good heater that was energy efficient. This heater warms up the whole room in about ten minutes! It doesn't have a remote but you can choose a temperature so I don't care about the remote and I've never had a better heater. Highly recommend it!Best Deals for Bionaire BCH7302-UM Oscillating Ceramic Tower Heater with LED

Ordered this for my roommate who lives in our apartment's sun room which has full length windows for most of the walls, meaning it was perpetually cold despite our central heating. The heater is very small, but heats up her room relatively quickly and thoroughly despite the cold coming in from the windows. The heat settings are nice, as is the rotation feature. Only con is, as noted, you can't put the heater just on low (unless you turn it to a lower temperature).Sunday, February 9, 2014
Lifesmart 1500W Infrared Heater Reviews

This Infrared Heater works very well in my 1300 sq ft. home. So far it has gotten down to the mid's 30's and I can heat my whole house with this unit and keep it around 74 degrees even the back bedrooms! I don't even use my new heat pump anymore but I still keep it set to 69 degrees. Another reason why this works so well in my home is because 7 months ago I had insulation blown in my attic and 2 years ago I had new windows put in. The insulation made a huge difference in saving money and holding heat longer in the house. I have all tile floors throughout my home. By having tile floors it will make your home colder so by having carpet this unit would work even better. When I put the unit in my living room and turn it on, it only takes about 5-6 minutes (during the day/ set on high) for it to raise the temp by 1 degree. The unit cycles on and off correctly even at night. For me, there is usally a 1 degree difference between the temp reading on my heat pump (thermostate placed in hallway) compared to the infrared heater placed in my living room. I am more than pleased about this unit. I was amazed how small the infrared heater was but yet it heated up a lot of living space.
This infrared heater will heat up to 1500 sq ft. easy as long as you have good insulation in your home. The most compliants that I have heard about this unit is that it will not heat a garage. Duh! Just about all garages doesn't have or very little insulation. So if your home has poor insulation then don't expect much from this unit or any other unit.
I actually bought mine from TigerDirect because the price was $159-179.99 but TD has been selling them like crazy and has been sold out a lot too. I'm happy that I was able to get one before December month started. My family is also looking to buy a infrared heater and I am going to recommend this one to them. Mine works so well that I am thinking about buy another one so that I can control the heat better.
This Infrared Heater needs 15amps to power it. I can plug it into my living room outlet and everything is fine but I plugged the unit into my hallway outlet which it connected to 2 of my bedrooms and the lights dimmed. 1 of those rooms I have my gaming PC/ 2 LCD monitors with my LCD TV, Surround Sound Theater, and PS3 all running the same time. So if your lights dimms then change the unit to a different outlet. Do Not continually run the Infrared Heater off that outlet because you are pulling too many amps and the electrical wiring is heating up and if your breaker doesn't trip then it can catch fire and burn your house down. Run the unit first during the day to make sure everything is fine before you run it at night while you are asleep. This Infrared Heater is very safe to use but you still have to use some common sense with it.Heater was deliver with wood case cracked wheel were put on in the wrong places heat rocks back and forth and the thermostats off heater never shuts off they ripped me off

Realistic flames and logs as far as electric fireplaces go; has fan that sends heat outward but can operate without fan. Quick warmup. I use it on my 100 sq foot glass side/roofed sunroom in winter (makes entire room toasty despite all the glass) and then got a second as supplemental heat source and ambiance for a 900 sq foot basement/entertainment room. Heats much better than the heater buried in my ceiling fan in the sunroom. Supposedly covers 400 sq feet but I think it does much better. No remote but that's one less thing to go wrong in my book. If you are sensitive to smells, note it has a moderate smell of newness burning at first but it lessens after about five uses. Lots of compliments and requests as to where I got it.Best Deals for Grand Aspirations Fireplace Stove BESKG-1500

This is the second product of this type I have purchased in the last year or so. I originally wanted a unit for my 3-seasons room which has no built-in source of heat in the winter time. Unfortunately, the first unit a bought (not this make or model) sat low to the ground. Since my room is carpeted, I just wasn't comfortable with clearance between the heater and the floor. The fire hazard made me move that unit to my basement where I have bare floors. I saw this model and noticed it appeared to sit up higher than other units and sure enough it does! It is easy to operate and is very attractive. The only feature it doesn't have that I miss from the first unit I purchased is a built-in thermostat. This kicks out continuous heat at a level you choose. It has a high and low setting, and you can turn off the "flames" if you just want heat without the light show. Mine runs all the time on the low setting with medium heat intensity, and so far it seems pretty efficient since my electric bill hasn't significantly increased. Because of the lack of a thermostat, I give this product 4 stars. If you have plush carpeting, this unit is definitely worth your consideration.Thursday, January 30, 2014
Frigidaire FRA064VU1 6,000 BTU Low Profile Window Air Conditioner Review
I can actually sleep with this thing. Has all the usual functions...installed easy peasy and cools our large bedroom very nicely. Love the low profile. A negative is that you can't really see the display, but I can live with that...also the air goes more up than at...which is actually a plus from my perspective.
UPDATE: I have ordered and use two of these now. Both arrived without damage that others mentioned. I continued to be pleased with these relatively quiet units that are less obtrusive and that provide good cooling.
It's a little more pricey than the average big-box-store unit, but I consider the extra money well spent.
It was well packed and arrived in good order. I was a little worried because I'm a little feeble, and it was a couple of days before I could get some help installing it, but the instructions were clear and everything "just worked" right out of the box. Recommended!
Main install "issue" with replacement windows in an older house is the lack of slope on the outside window ledge. I found that a $5 square table leg from local "big box home store" on the window sill raised the unit just enough to make the fit perfectly. I was unable to install a smaller 5000 BTU unit (a quality AC as well) in rear window due to height (room above garage in older house). This one fit the bill, and fit in the window perfectly. Airflow is definitely upward, but avoids the air blowing at you if your bed is close by, and is fairly adjustable given the low profile of the unit.
*added* summer temps hit 95F/35C and AC holds 20x12 room at 65F/18C without a problem. :-) nice!

No complaints whatever. This unit, rated 6000 BTUH, cools two full rooms, where a "big-box special" 10,000 BTUH unit doesn't quite manage one (slightly smaller than the two others). Its low-profile design produces an up-and-over air flow that distributes cool air around the room, instead of blowing straight out and directly on the people. It has separate fans for indoor cooling and outdoor condensing, so it's more efficient than a cheap single-fan unit and only makes noise when it has to. Not that it's noisy -at its worst it's better than most window units I've seen lately. It's a little more pricey than the average big-box-store unit, but I consider the extra money well spent.

I had trouble finding an air conditioner that would fit a window larger than 36". This one fits the bill. This works great in my office window. I previously had a Maytag that was super loud which made it tough during conference calls. This unit is as quiet as I have ever found. Bought a smaller model Frigidaire for the bedroom which is also very quiet.Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA064VU1 6,000 BTU Low Profile Window Air Conditioner
The unit fits well into the window with little effort. The low profile is a nice bonus, but the controls and spot on temp/etc controls are excellent as is the remote. We'll see how the summer works out, but the unit is quiet compared to many lesser window units. Yes, you do hear the extra fan (outside) and compressor turn on, but nothing to complain about given the low volume of the main fan, and much quieter than a $100 unit. I like the energy efficiency, and definitely appreciate the solid construction (much better than cheaper units, nothing rattles at all) so far. Installation hardware (includes quality expanding sides, leveling plate and insulation strips) and instructions were spot on, and perhaps 30 minutes at most to install, mostly spent unboxing and unwrapping it.Main install "issue" with replacement windows in an older house is the lack of slope on the outside window ledge. I bought this heater for my front room where I teach music lessons. That room has always been hard to heat, but now it's easy to get it nice and cozy in there. The room is about 400 square feet and within about 30 minutes after turning on this nice little heater, the room starts filling up with warmth. I'm so glad that it's stylish and doesn't look awkward in my front room like other space heaters would. I also love how safe it is, the top and sides don't get hot and even the grill where the heat comes out doesn't get hot enough to burn. I found out when a baby was visiting yesterday, she reached out and touched it then pulled her hand away quick, but it didn't leave a mark and she didn't even cry.

I upgraded from an older Bissell Little Green Machine to this unit based primarily on my experience with Bissell products. The PROheat has a number of nice features that ultimately sold me on it and after using it for a few months now I'm fairly pleased with it. I particularly like that you can choose to either have the heat on or off. I've heard some people say that using the heat can break down your carpets more quickly and cause the stain to get worse as it picks up new dirt that is tracked in. I don't know if that's not the case, but since my old Bissell unit lacked heat but did a fine job, I pretty much use this minus the heat. Even with the heat off I'm stunned at how good a job this unit does. It's even cleaned stains that I gave up as a lost cause. Most astonishingly, I usually vacuum first before using the steamer and then vacuum again once it's dry. I've discovered I actually vacuum up MORE dirt after steam cleaning than I did before. Clearly this machine is knocking loose built up dirt which means cleaner and nicer appearing carpets than ever before. I also liked the wand attachment from my old Little Green machine, especially for upholstered pieces and hard to reach spots and this thankfully has that.
But there are some drawbacks and limitations. At least initially you will pick up a LOT of carpet fibers when you use the machine, which means FREQUENT cleaning of the rotating brushes and especially the multiple filters on the unit. In some instances I wound up using tweezers to get out fibers from the particularly small filter on the underside of the water tank. The one on top is easier to clean out, but particles trap almost everywhere on this machine. The water tank holds a pitifully small amount of water and/or cleaning solution which means frequent refills, and it slows down the whole cleaning process. The self contained tank is easy to empty, but if you think that will eliminate odors from dirty water guess again, it doesn't. The tank does seem to leak or the seals don't hold tight and so dirty water does collect in the well that the tank sits in, which ads to the nasty smells as well as adding yet another think you have to clean up. Another particularly annoying habit is the dirty water seeping out the front of the machine by the cleaning rollers when you turn off and store the machine. This is really disgusting and trust me, don't store it on carpet or even leave it sitting there for very long as it WILL leak! When in use loose fibers tend to gather on the underside of the machine around the brush rollers so you manually have to gather it up by hand, which slows down the cleaning process. Once you've cleaned your carpet a few times that problem (hopefully) should minimize, although it has yet to happen for me. As a result there's a considerable amount of maintenance you have to do to ensure your machine is operating under optimum conditions. Even so, it's hard to argue with the results. I would probably buy this same unit again, but would also read up on other models just in case they operate more easily. Perhaps I was used to the utter simplicity of the Little Green Machine and sometimes I wish I was still using it, sad to say.
One drawback was the limited size of the tank for holding cleaning solution, I found myself refilling it 4 times to do 3 rooms and a lazy-boy chair. Of course re-filling was at least easy to do and to be expected when buying the low-end model. Further, as with it seems all of these contraptions, the hand-held attachment would spray at far to wide an angle but thats not a unique problem to this one cleaner.
Overall, for the price, if you have a small house or apartment and are on a limited budget or just like to pinch a penny or two, I would surely recommend this Bissell.
Well, the Bissell outperforms the Hoover in every way! Here are the comparisons:
1. tank size yes, Hoover is bigger but the Bissell is a much better design. The Hoover waste water tank is very hard to empty and clean without spilling at least some. The Bissell has a special pour spout.
2. Heat Bissell heats the water and this makes a big difference in terms of loosening and picking up dirt. Huge.
3. Bissell upholstery tool works much better.
4. Bissell is easy to disassemble and clean. The suction end comes off easily for rinsing; the waste tank and lid are super easy to clean as well.
There were some complaints about the machine jamming up or not sucking. Here is what I did:
1. I took my time and rinsed the guck out of the tank each time before refilling.
2. When the suction seemed to lessen, I stopped machine and cleaned out the hair and fuzz under the brush component. Worked fine after doing this.
3. At one point, the water did not seem to be getting suctioned up at all. I called Bissell and they walked me through to the issue: there is a red valve in the tank that will stop the airflow if the tank is too full. How does this occur? By overfilling in the first place. So don't top off the tank or if you see that the red valve has come up (you can hear it stop the suction) then empty some water out of the tank.
Overall, the design is really great I love the one tank for both clean and dirty water, the fact that the water gets nice and hot, the ease in cleaning the machine. In cleaning my living room, bedroom and hallways, I probably refilled tank about 8 times. Not too bad. Took an afternoon to do it and except for pulling the carpet fuzz out of the brush area, it was a clean and easy operation.

I would probably buy this same unit again, but would also read up on other models just in case they operate more easily. Perhaps I was used to the utter simplicity of the Little Green Machine and sometimes I wish I was still using it, sad to say.

I just purchased a Bissell ProHeat today and am definitly pleased with my purchase. The carpet which was in rather poor shape has seen a clear improvement and IMHO a professional couldn't have done a better job. The cleaner itself was simple to assemble, straight-forward to load with cleaning solution (I like the combo-tank idea!), and very easy to use.One drawback was the limited size of the tank for holding cleaning solution, I found myself refilling it 4 times to do 3 rooms and a lazy-boy chair.

When my old Hoover SteamVac with Power Surge broke down, I really hesitated before buying the Bissell ProHeat. But when my local Target store only had the Bissell in stock, I figured what the heck if I test it out and it doesn't work well (as some of the reviews said) I will just clean it up, repack and return to Target.Well, the Bissell outperforms the Hoover in every way!
Honest reviews on BISSELL ProHeat Full Sized Carpet Cleaner, 25A3
I have been looking at carpet cleaners for a few months. Based on reviews, I wasn't too sure I could find a good product at a decent price, since I didn't want to break the bank. I found this item at Target, and based on my experience with Bissell vacuums, decided to give it a chance. It assembled pretty easily, and seems pretty solid. It did a very nice job on lifting dirt from an alabaster carpet and darker entry carpet, neither of which had been cleaned in nearly two years. I found the upholstery tool to work very well on higher traffic areas that didn't respond well to the pushing the machine over it. Overall, I am quite happy with this item.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for BISSELL ProHeat Full Sized Carpet Cleaner, 25A3
As with some of the other favorable reviews, I loved my Bissell in the beginning. But, now I agree with the unfavorable reviews of awful and leacky. My opinion soon changed as soon as the warranty was up. The belt continued to slip, and I couldn't even get one room cleaned. I spent hours on the phone with Bissell Customer Service, taking the cleaner apart fixing the belt, checking other parts, etc. And just recently, the motor pulley broke. Bissell referred me to the only Bissell repair shop in my area (20 miles away...pretty bad for the second largest city in Maryland not to have anything closer). When I called them, they said it would cost approximately $80 to repair...not worth it since the cleaner was only around $150. So, for $150, expect to get maybe a year's worth of good service from the cleaner (if you're lucky).Monday, December 23, 2013

I got this heater at Walmart about two years ago as an exchange for another heater that was recalled. I rarely used it until a few weeks ago. Seemed to work ok, not the best heat output but ok. But when I went to unlug the cord, the plug was so hot it burned my hand. Reported it to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, but haven't heard back from anyone.
It works great and is not very noisy. I also like that it will shut off if it is accidentally knocked over. When we bought these at our local WM store we paid about $20 each.

We bought three of these three years ago in an emergency when our main heater blew. The following winter, we tried to reuse them, and two out of three were broken. The one that did make it to the second year died soon after. I remember when things used to last more than 90 days. Avoid this product.Best Deals for PATTON Utility Heater, 7.7 x 10.3 x 14.6, Gray (PUH682)

Bought this Patton utility heater for emergency use in a small camper. When pluged in it will not properly cycle. The unit will come on, the dial temp is reached and the unit turns off. When heat is again needed the unit may come on for a mili second, a second, two seconds and then turn right back off. It is as if it tries to start and turns right back off as soon as the fan and heating element begin to operate. Don't waste your money on this. I will not buy another!
