We just had a newborn and in need a water heater so we can have access to boiled water 24/7. Those 1.5 Liter water kettles can not keep up with the workload, 4 Liter is the perfect capacity. We can not use our Zojirushi because of the chemical coatings on the interior. We do not want to take any risk, the interior has to be stainless steel, absolutely no plastic.

We are glad we purchased this water heater. The interior pot is made of stainless steel. There is a night light under the sprout turns on when the water dispense is unlocked. The light illuminates the area right under the sprout, it is so convenient for us to prepare formula in the night without turning on all the lights. The night light also tells you approximately where the water will be dispensed at.

The other feature I really like is the 3D dispense button. The dispense button is big with chrome finish. My old zojirushi dispense button is one layer of PVC plastic that close to wearing out after a few years. The 3D dispense button on this secura water heater is easy to access and hard to miss.

The water dispense starts slow and after a few seconds the flow volume increases, so the water does not splash out. Another very nice feature that we really love.

My previous hot water pot suddenly gave up the ghost; its pump simply died. That was annoying, it would heat up just fine, but no way to dispense the water save ladling it out with a soup ladle. We did get about five years of constant use but I was not going to buy the same brand. After a lot of research, I could find complaints on any brand but this one seemed to have a lot of features and no bad reviews (so far.) I got the stainless and white model; it also has a black version.

First, this has a lot more features than my previous model the Sunpentown 3 Litre Hot Pot. This model has a choice of temperatures (from 208 to 194 to 175F.) There is a dispensing lock. When unlocked, an orange light is lit and not only is the light indicating you can dispense water, but it lights up underneath as well. I noticed when I was filling my teapot, it made it easier to see the water level in the pot.

There is a gauge to show water level and a beep tells you that water has reached temperature. The dispensing button itself is a hefty wide lever on the top, not a button under a membrane. Already, I'm liking this model a whole lot more than my previous one, and the price is about the same. The inside is stainless steel and the capacity is 4 liters or about a gallon. So it does take longer to heat up than the 3 liter model I had before.

There are two speeds for dispensing, which you can choose underneath. The unit will automatically shut off if there is insufficient water inside. And there is a descaling cycle. The outside is warm, insulated from the inside. It is not cold, but is pleasantly warm and you can touch it while the pot is on.

That's a lot of features and so far, I'm very pleased. It is superior to my old one and it's nice to have a supply of hot water for tea all evening and weekend long.

This is an amazing water boiler, my old boiler is still working but the Teflon coating on the inner pot starts to come off. May be I did not clean the pot as often as should. I got this boiler with stainless steel, hopefully I do not have to worry about the issues with coatings. So far it has been great, I like the thermostat settings. It boils water to 212 degree and keeps boiling for a few minutes to kills all the germs and softens water. And you can choose to keep warm at 208, 194, 175 degree, and you can set it to auto cool which does not use electric to keep warm. If you do not care about the water temperature like us, choose auto cool. It saves energy and water still keeps warm all day.

Honest reviews on Secura 4-Quart Electric Water Boiler and Warmer AirPot, 18/10

The overall construction and operation of the product is very good. Water can be pumped out using either the electric pump or the manual pump at the top.

The interior is all stainless steel which is the reason I bought this one. However, after a week of boiling and cleaning, I could still taste plastic in the water. So I dissembler it to investigate. It turned out the problem is with the lid. The hot steam gets into the lid and then condenses inside the lid. The inside of the lid is made of plastic parts; only the part you can see is made of stainless steel. The steam condenses on the plastic and then back-flows into the pot and therefore contaminating the water.

This is my second air pot purchase. My first air pot was an inexpensive one with no temperature control. I figured "Why do I need temperature control? It's going to boil water then keep it hot so I can have tea without waiting for a kettle to boil." I was so very, very wrong.

You see, I live in Denver, the "Mile High" city. I realize many things I purchase; cake mixes mostly, have directions for high altitude cooking that I usually ignore. They turn out fine anyway. But an air pot is different than a cake. It does only one thing. It boils water then keeps it warm. Here water boils at about 202*, 10* less than sea level.

Most air pots come from Japan which is most definitely sea level.

The first air pot NEVER stopped boiling. It was desperately attempting to reach 212*F and all it was succeeding at was adding moisture to our air, which admittedly we need but not what I bought it for. I returned it with disappointment and spent the time awaiting my refund looking at other air pots.

I believed, during that time, I was going to be stuck ordering the Zojirushi at twice the price because it was the same one as my mother in law's, the person who showed me how wonderful air pots are. Then I came across this. It was much less expensive so, with Amazon's return policy having worked out well once, I thought I would give it a try. It arrived, I filled it up, set it to 194* though the box proclaimed it boiled water to 212*, and then waited for all the water to boil away once again. The water came to a boil and I walked away. It was going to take a long time to boil away 4L of water, but to my surprise it beeped a short time later! My water was boiled and not being held at 194*. I emptied it, filled it again and got the same result, plus it had gone through the recommended couple of boils to clean it out.

It has been only five days but the family is in love. There are three ways to dispense; a button on top, a manual pump, and the convenient little cup button underneath. And the light is a nice touch and a big, orange light lets you know when it is unlock for dispensing and it doesn't stay unlocked for too long; excellent when there are little button pushers running around the house. It also seems to be keeping the water at a consistent temperature, but I will have to simply trust it on that as my candy thermometer claims it being kept at 238*F. I think I can safely assume that that needs replaced (and would explain why my last batch of fudge turned out so horribly).

Condensed version of this; great air pot, highly recommended!
