From all the heaters I've looked at and the ones we have in the house (2 different models of Lasko oscillating ceramic heaters, which are digitally programmable but have annoying beeps, only have 1500w and 900w settings, no fan only setting, and cost almost twice as much), this is the best value. I personally do prefer a ceramic heater (I think they're safer and faster at heating a room), but I gave this one a try even though it's a fan-forced model because Pelonis is supposed to be a good brand and their ceramic heaters are expensive. I figured even if it only lasts a year or two that I will have gotten my money's worth out of it since it was so inexpensive.
This is the only space heater I've found that has a 600 watt energy setting and one of the few that has 3 (600w, 900w, and 1500w). Most only have 2. 1500 or 1200 seems to be the default and the ones that have an "energy saver" setting generally go to 900. The ones I've seen that go lower are over $50. Even though this heater is very compact, it warms up my 300ish square foot room set to a moderate temperature (can't set the thermostat for a specific temp) using the low energy setting.
For under $30 this is what you get with this heater:
-No plasticky new heater smell that needs to air out for 3 hours running on high in the garage or some other out of the way location (One of the Laskos had the smell but the other didn't)
-Cool touch housing -manual says it might get hot and that the air coming out might burn, but I've experienced neither even with basically constant use
-Overheat protection
-Auto shut off if tipped over
-600w low energy setting
-Fan only setting
-Adjustable thermostat
-Very quiet (the Laskos have louder fans)
-Very compact (less than 12" tall and approx. 9"x4" footprint)
-Element heats instantly so no waiting around while cold air is blowing on you
-Very effective at producing steady heat
-1 year warranty
-Carry handle in the back so it can easily be repositioned or moved to other rooms
Things it doesn't do:
-oscillate
-give specific thermostat settings (but I just discovered on mine that putting the thermostat in the middle of the 2nd lowest setting makes it turn on around 68)
Overall, this is a great unit. It does everything I need and I got it for about $26 including shipping. I would definitely purchase it again and I have already recommended it to my friends.

This fan replaced my old Pelonis fan that finally died after ten years or so. I like that it has three heat settings and an adjustable fan. The internal thermostat will kick it off when it reaches that stage. If it gets knocked off the surface that it's sitting on, it will cut off. It provides the instant direct heat that I wanted. It keeps my home office nice a toasty without me having to warm up the whole house by turning the main thermostat up. I would buy this fan again and again and again.
