Nothing smells or looks like a real fire. However, the looks of this one comes close. We are enjoying it. Installed it in the summer and have been using the fireplace. Love the adjustable features. Just started using the heater and so far so good.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife and went through the instructions step by step in setting it up in an existing fireplace only to find that while it looks great it does not however produce hardly any heat at all. Unless you're standing, not sitting like you would a real fire place, but standing literally directly in front of it and over it you will not feel any heat. I contact the seller and was basically told that, "it was what it was", and I'd have to deal with it. Highly aggravated now since I already went through the not so simple task of trimming it out in order to fit the existing opening, as well as running wires up to the attic and then down behind the wall through to properly mount the thermostat control I now had to undo all I had accomplished in order to package it back up and send it back due to no cooperation or help of any kind from the seller. Amazon however was and usually are easy to deal with on returns. I would NOT recommend this product if you are expecting it to maintain some warmth in a room any bigger than a small bedroom or large closet. But again, we were impressed with it's all around look. just love this fireplace! It is beautiful and we installed it in our entertainment center we built so now we can snuggle up in front of a fire and watch romantic movies ;)
