I liked my little Windchaser a lot.
It was a tad on the noisy side... but compact and very toasty.
It made my entire downstairs room warm and welcoming from its home beneath my desk.
But now it has up and died after one year of use.
I'll miss it.
Will I buy another one?
Not sure. It was warm and comforting during our time together.
But I'm looking for a longer term relationship.

Nothing smells or looks like a real fire. However, the looks of this one comes close. We are enjoying it. Installed it in the summer and have been using the fireplace. Love the adjustable features. Just started using the heater and so far so good.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife and went through the instructions step by step in setting it up in an existing fireplace only to find that while it looks great it does not however produce hardly any heat at all. Unless you're standing, not sitting like you would a real fire place, but standing literally directly in front of it and over it you will not feel any heat. I contact the seller and was basically told that, "it was what it was", and I'd have to deal with it. Highly aggravated now since I already went through the not so simple task of trimming it out in order to fit the existing opening, as well as running wires up to the attic and then down behind the wall through to properly mount the thermostat control I now had to undo all I had accomplished in order to package it back up and send it back due to no cooperation or help of any kind from the seller. Amazon however was and usually are easy to deal with on returns. I would NOT recommend this product if you are expecting it to maintain some warmth in a room any bigger than a small bedroom or large closet. But again, we were impressed with it's all around look. So just don't purchase on any grounds to based on using it as a heater.Best Deals for 36" 110V Builders Box

We ordered this mattress to replace a 20+ year old waterbed mattress. This one is great. It molds to you but still has enough support for your back. There is only a small amount of motion when someone gets into or out of the bed.

Got this product for use on the patio when it is 90 degrees and over. Works well. It has a novel concept of pumping water onto a spinning disk and then a fan blows it outwards, making you feel cooler. It has a setting for the water. On high, you will get wet if you are close by but that can be fun. It is very directional, so it is only good when blowing on 1 or 2 people. The fan does not have any speed settings so I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Makes an Arizona patio usable in the heat.
I had read somewhere that you could not use an extension cord with this. I am using a heavy duty outdoor extension cord with no problems whatsoever.

This fan is far more convenient and effective than our standard misting fan with nozzles. I was somewhat hesitant because you have to fill it up rather than connect it to a hose like our other one. It turns out that was an advantage. Under normal conditions there is no water buildup in front of the fan and the cool air that reaches you isn't wet. As soon as I tried it, I bought a second one as a present for my son who is in the middle of the Texas drought and I will probably buy another for myself.Best Deals for Soleus Air MT1-19-32, Humidibreeze Portable Misting System
Pretty good product. Only negative is it is not oscillating but every review on oscillating fans are negative. this unit cools one area right in front so it's a one person fan. For me, that's fine and until they make a unit that's affordable with good reviews that oscillates, this one is what you should purchase. If you put it on high, you get wet and that's all there is to that. But at half speed, it's good, Even the dog enjoys it. At half speed the water tank lasts about 2 hours. Not having used the other fans, I have no comparison but I cannot give it any negatives.Honest reviews on Soleus Air MT1-19-32, Humidibreeze Portable Misting System
My patio faces the west and to make things worse it is an apartment with stucco walls protruding outward to make it like an oven on hot Texas summer afternoons. Before I purchased the Soleus Air MT1-19-32 Misting Fan, my patio would get up to about 120 degrees fahrenheit and now it is a tolerable 97 degrees. So the fan does what it is advertised to do and then some. The only thing I don't like (which is not the fans fault)is when it is turned up to the maximum mist setting, you have to fill up the tank about once an hour. Since I have no water facet on an apartment patio I certainly cannot complain about that and I highly recommend the Soleus Air MT1-19-32 Misting Fan.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Soleus Air MT1-19-32, Humidibreeze Portable Misting System
Yes, you read the title correctly. While most people use this out on their deck to keep themselves or guests cool, I have it outside in front of my chicken coop to keep my hens cool. And this baby does the trick. Just plug it in, fill it up and turn it on. Thats all there is to it. It holds 1 gallon of water. Since the water tray, located in the back of the unit, is a little small, I use a 2 liter bottle to fill the Humidibreeze up. The neck of the bottle fits perfectly above the tray and the bottle itself holds enough water. I fill the Humidibreeze a little past the Max water line, and set the cooling knob to 1 turn below high. By doing this, the mister can go 9 1/2 hours before it needs to be filled up (I am in NV, where it is very hot and very dry). While I am at work I know that my hens are staying cool and comfy, whether they are out in their attached run, or in their coop.I had read somewhere that you could not use an extension cord with this. I am using a heavy duty outdoor extension cord with no problems whatsoever.

We rent an old 3-story Victorian home with 8 bedrooms, 4 baths, and 3 kitchens. There's a lot to heat in the winter. Even with new furnace and heat pumps etc. it was costing us $800-$1100/month to heat during December-February. After trying several space heaters, we opted for one of these, and it really is a hit. I keep one in my office, one in my bedroom, and one in the living room. At night the one from the living room is moved upstairs to heat the kids' bedrooms. Because the radiator is quiet, I can take calls in my office without a problem. Because it isn't blowing out forced air, there's none of the sinus issues normally seen in winter when the heat is on. We just love them. This is our second year using this model. I'm going to pick up a few more and use them upstairs as well. My electric consumption for that first year dropped more than 50% and we stayed warmer. This year, we haven't used the central heat at all so far, and my electricity consumption has dropped almost 70% what it had been when I was trying to use the central heat and forced air space heaters. I was hoping they'd be cheaper this year, but even at this price, they're worth it. It's such a nice, even, pleasant heat. You don't have to be right near it. It won't burn your skin if you bump it, and you can turn it off or down at night if you get too warm.
I now own three different models of oil filled radiators. The Delonghi Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator with Overheat Audible Alarm is great, but not as quick to heat as the Delonghi Vento. The heat from the Vento radiates very quickly out the top of the unit. The Safe Heat heater puts a little more heat on the floor, so I am actually glad that I have a couple different models. We use the Safe Heat version in the bedroom because it is very quiet, and heats the floor a little quicker than the Vento. The Safe Heat also has an audible alarm if it overheats, and automatic tip-over shutoff. Those will be nice safety features while we sleep.
Back to the Vento: The timer feature is great; it allows you to automatically turn the heater on and off as many times as you want, up to every 15 minutes, for a full 24 hours! In the winter I plan to have it turn on early in the morning and heat up the living room while we're still sleeping. The analog timer is MUCH better than a digital timer in my opinion. A digital timer has limitations on how many times you can turn it on and off (usually only once or twice). For now, I just leave all the switches "on" and turn it on and off manually.
I have an older Lakewood digital thermostat radiator also; that one we cannot use in the bedroom because the digital relay system to turn it on and off is very noisy, and keeps us awake. Out of the three, it is also the slowest to heat up but it has lasted me 10 years so far so I can't complain. I feel that all analog controls and relays are much quieter than the digital versions. The digital thermostat is nice in the kitchen to set a minimum, but too noisy in the bedroom. .
The Vento is in the living room, puts out the (by far) quickest and most heat, and fills the room-again, less on the floor but it heats the room quicker. The edges are curved so there is less potential for injury, and it really puts out most of the heat up and into the air--the unit doesn't seem to get quite as hot to the touch. The Vento took about twice as long as the Safe Heat to "burn in", but I just put it on full blast outside for about 4 hours and it was good to go. There is much more metal in this unit to "burn in" so it makes sense...
I highly recommend the Safe Heat heater, and even more than the Vento if you want heat on the floor as well!!! It warms up very quickly and is very reasonably priced, and has great safety features. It is our choice for the bedroom.
but i only feel the heat when standing 7" away from it and/or hunching over the top of it.
AND it has to be 3ft away from anything/everything so you can't put it to the side of the room, or out of the way...
really disappointing heater ornament.
Update: okay, so it didn't work in my living room with high ceilings, so I put it in my bedroom to see if it would be better and it did! It was really hot and toasty. So I think depending on the room.... It will work great or, not. So glad I won't have to return it.

This heater must be kept around 2 meters from any walls, furniture, book shelves, etc. That's tough to do in a small apartment. In my case there was no place to put it that wasn't within 2 meters of something. Desperate for heat in a slumlord-owned building with a draft and a poor radiator I tried to use it anyway. No go. As soon as the unit would start to heat up it would shut off because it was too close to the closet. A safety mechanism that is a good feature to be sure -just look at all the poor people who burn themselves up trying to heat their homes each winter after their utilities are shut off. Still, I couldn't use it in my place. I wish I would have seen some mention of that on Amazon.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi TRH0715SH Oil-Filled Radiator with Overheat Audible Alarm

Sorry to say this heater was not a winner. It did arrive on time and in perfect condition. However upon first use and every subsequent use there after it was very loud and had a horrible rattling sound like it was going to come apart violently. It also produced very little heat, having another heater similar to this one that works wonderfully, I am aware of what a heater like this should put out for heat. I would not suggest this heater to anyone, in fact i would suggest the Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4. I have had the Fahrenheat unit for over six month's now and it perform's as advertised without a single failure.
Not many garages have that. Mine didn't. In fairness, the description explains this and I missed it.
If I were going to pay for an electrician to install the proper power, I'd likely ponder some other solution that wouldn't be as expensive. This only heats a small area, so the only other area I could see value is a basement, maybe unplugging the dryer. The best situation for this would be for a workshop, or if you use your garage extensively to do work. That would justify the expense of the electrical work. To simply not see your breath on cold days when you go to get in your car--this is probably not worth the trouble or expense.
It's the first week of November and we've already been using this heater in our garage for the past few weeks. We've even seen small amounts of snow a few times this fall. In Minnesota, winter is always just around the corner. It gets crazy cold here. Forty below zero at night is not foreign to this area of the state during the heart of winter. It gets so cold, the foundation of homes and the concrete slab floors of garages can buckle. In the video I've attached to this review, you can actually see that the foundation of our own garage floor has buckled and left us with a crack down the center that looks like we were hit with a Californian earthquake. So spending any time at all outside in the garage in the winter requires some form of heat, if nothing else so your fingers don't go numb while trying to work in the cold.
Prior to this heater we had a torpedo heater. It was great and put out a ton of heat, but if you're familiar with those, you know they produce heat using a large open flame. Torpedo flames in a garage filled with flammable things weren't the safest way to go. Especially since one wrong step from your kids and they could walk into it and catch a leg on fire. The second heater we used was meant for ice fishing. A portable propane heater. It was actually our ice fishing heater, but it doubled as our garage heater for a while. Expensive way to heat the garage.
Now we have this NewAir electric heater, and it's so much better. No open flame to catch a pants leg on fire and no need to keep switching out propane tanks. Also unlike the other two heaters, this one has an overheat safety setting and regulates the heating element by sensing the air temperature. Be sure to take note of the shape of the 240 volt plug. We have a outlet in our garage for this, but it has a different shaped receptacle. Ours was designed for use with a welder. So we ended up buying a different plug for the end of this heater and switching it out to work with our welding outlet.
When the blower is the only thing going on this heater, it's pretty quiet. Like a simple fan. When the heating element turns on is when you can really hear it. But I wouldn't call it loud. It's a garage heater encased in a metal box, usually sitting on the garage floor. It's going to make a little noise. But it's not like it's so loud two people talking right beside it even need to raise their voice to hear one another.
The casing stays cool to the touch. You won't get burned from touching the metal even after the heater has been running for hours. The carrying handle on the top is bolted on, so it's well affixed. The power cable is fairly short (I believe for safety reasons), so you'll need to have a spot for this within a few feet of your outlet.
As for how it heats, we've liked it so far. However we don't expect it (or most any portable heater) to heat a 2 car garage to 72 degrees when it's -40 deg blow zero outside. This heater takes the chill off and keeps your blood moving. The closer you stand to it, the warmer you'll be. Work on the opposite side of the garage right next to the door and the air won't feel as warm. We turn it on when it's cold and leave it running while we're out there working. Plug it in and get it going a little while before someone's going to be in the garage so it has time to start warming up the air. It's waterfowl season right now, so my husbands been out in the garage in the evenings for hours each night working on tying up decoys and working on the motor of his boat. He's had the heater running each evening while doing this to help keep it warm while he's out there, and it's been working very well. No problems so far. We like this heater MUCH better than the propane and torpedo heaters we had in the past.
I love in northern MN. It gets COLD. I have a 30x60 uninsulated garage/pole barn with 15+ ceilings and a cement floor. I made a "bubble" work area 400 sq.ft (20x20x9) using 4mil plastic within the garage. The heater arrived quickly and in good shape. I already had a 50amp circuit but downsized that to a 30amp and attached the correct female receptacle to fit the unit. Very simply.
I have been impressed with this little heater. I do not find it to be too loud, considering it is made for a garage setting. Some days the temps were in the negatives with windchills in the -20's and in my "bubble" the temp was at least 30 deg. I have recently put studs and insulation between joists at 9ft for the ceiling. This has really helped. The outside temps are in the 20's but "bubble" is in the 50-60 range.
I have not used any other garage heater so I have nothing to compare too. I do not run this thing all day/night. For the most part, I run it a few hours before I plan to "work" in the "bubble" and the temps has risen to a workable level for me (35 deg +). Remember, my "bubble" is simply within my garage, no insulation (except ceiling) and is definitely not air tight.
I have only had this for about 2 weeks but I have been satisfied for my application. I will update this post in the future as I use it more, insulate the room, and receive an electric bill.
I would recommend this product, but I would probably recommend the similar RED heater for $30 less. I read the product info wrong on the RED one and purchased this unit instead. Either way, it is doing what I need.
UPDATE: (3/25/13)
I have had this unit a little over a month. I have taken down the "bubble" mentioned in the last email and finished off half of the garage. The area is now approx. 30x30 (900 SQFT). The area is insulated with rigid foam board (R6 in walls R4 board and R11 fiberglass insulation in ceiling ceilings are 9ft). My point is that the insulation is NOT GREAT. The heater is able to heat the entire area about 40 deg warmer than the outside temp. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test this heater when the temps were below zero with the area being insulated. This heater is stated to heat an area 500 sq feet but my area is almost 900 sq ft and it does the job to take the chill out of the area (even with a cement floor). Two of these heaters would EASILY heat my area to any temp (70 deg) no matter what the temp is outside. Remember, I live in a COLD area. I would still recommend this unit. I don't know exactly how much my electric bill went up but it did go up (not an outrageous amount). The only thing I would like to change on this unit would be when you turn it off the fan stops running but the area around the unit is still hot as it cools off could be dangerous if you are not in the room I suspect all heaters are similar to this though.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a bit a "buyer beware" review. This heater requires an electrical configuration (essentially having a "dryer plug" kind of socket in your wall). Not many garages have that. Mine didn't. In fairness, the description explains this and I missed it.

Honest reviews on NewAir G56 5600 Watt Garage Heater - Get Fast Heat for 560 Sq. Ft.
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This thing is well built. Note that it requires a 240 outlet before you order. But it puts out the heat let me tell you. My son came over and mounted it up about 2/3 of the way up the wall opposite the garage door in a corner about 3 feet forward from the wall and plugged it in. (he did put a support bracket up for the top and bottom of the unit) We fired it up and tho it makes noise there was no rattle and the level's nothing you can't live with and I soon was used to it. It's a bit early for heating here in the mountains of Colorado but we did have a morning low of 39 and this was around 6:30 in the morning before he went to work. Took about ten minutes to heat up the Garage from about 45 to 65 degrees and then we turned it off because it was going to go back up in the 80's later in the day and it wouldn't be needed. So right now I'm pleased with it and this winter when we dip down below freezing I'll give it it's real test and if there are problems I'll come back and redo this review. Right now I can report it's solid, well built, the controls are convenient and the thermostat worked pretty darn good cycling it off when it reached 65. I would certainly recommend this unit at this price point...just remember you need that 240 outlet handy to use it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for NewAir G56 5600 Watt Garage Heater - Get Fast Heat for 560 Sq. Here is my situation:I love in northern MN.

I manage several buildings that feature these, They are very common in apartments and they work very well. Lots of heat, pretty low noise, and they take up very little wall space; just don't place furniture too close to them and vacuum the grill out once a year. These are often run by a wall thermostat; over-riding the built-in one.
As far as I can tell, the thermostats are useless. Just as an example:
I have one of the 1000 watt units turned on in my bedroom right now. The room is 68-69 degrees. If you turn the thermostat all the way down to shut the heater off, and then turn it up until the heater turns on, it turns on at about 62 degrees. If you then turn it down until the heater goes off, it turns off at about 54 degrees.
That's an 8 degree swing. And the setpoints are WAY off from the actual temperature in the room.
I don't understand why I don't see a lot of complaints on the internet about this kind of heater. I don't think it's just Cadet, I think it's the particular type of thermostat, no matter who the manufacturer. I believe these are what are called "bimetallic" thermostats. As far as I can tell they are utterly useless. All they are good for is as an on off switch.
At least that is my opinion based on my own experience. If I'm missing something, someone please point it out to me.
Has anyone ever been actually able to control the temperature within a reasonable range with these? If so please speak up and explain how you were able to do so.

I ordered this as a replacment for a failed unit. It was an exact match and installed easily in place of the old one within minutes. The prior unit failed after we had the house for four years. And I believe the original unit was installed a few years before we bought the house. So it lasted 4+? years.Best Deals for Cadet Manufacturing 67507 240-Volt White Com Pak Fan Forced
Cadet #67507 2000W Wall Fan Heater Plenty of heat, wish the forced air fan was bigger. If I were to buy one again I think I would have gone with the next size bigger from Cadet. This is a wonderful heater, while not taking up too much space. Everytime I turn it on, my cat immediately goes to curl up next to it. It is a safe for animals/children to be around, as it is sturdy and does not get hot to the touch. Helps to offset the cost of heating in our home. Great value and the pewter color is alittle different than the plain black you usually see.

Duraflame Ultra-Premium Gold 6-Pack 4.5LB Firelogs Review
This is my review of the Duraflame Gold 4.5 lb. fire logs. As you'll see from the video, I'm pleased with the logs, although they're not perfect. They give off a pleasing, bright and warm flame for about 2-2.5 hours. After that, the flame gets small..and gets small fast! Obviously the "imitation log" route is no replacement for real wood logs if you're looking for a long term solution for regular use it'd be waaay too expensive. But for the occassional quick and easy fire, they're perfect. The flame is warm and bright, although it doesn't have the crackle and pop of real wood, it still is a pleasure to have going in our TV room. I've heard in so many reviews people complaining about a chemical smell when burning these I have now burnt several of these since making this video and have had absolutely no foul smells. Long story short, I recommend these!

wasn't sure what the "gold" as all about. i use this brand of log all the time to start my fires ... which provides a wonderful base for burning logs later on in the same day. these logs have huge flames and covers the entire log. beautiful!Best Deals for Duraflame Ultra-Premium Gold 6-Pack 4.5LB Firelogs

Considering the extra cost these burn out after about 2 hours. Very disappointed. I won't be buying these again. There was no chemical smell.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Duraflame Ultra-Premium Gold 6-Pack 4.5LB Firelogs
Yes these logs do burn brighter but... They only last about 2hrs ( tiny logs and brighter flames = short burn times ) and frankly for 7 dollars more for a case of these over the original duraflame log, not worth it.Sunday, December 15, 2013

We thought we knew what rice was supposed to be like when we used our Costco Aroma Rice Cookers--we would just, as a matter of course, replace the old ones with the same brand... Until this time.
After reading up on consumer reviews and Japanese sites, we opted to try the Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker. The stainless steel is STUNNING--the pictures do NOT do it justice--it is gorgeous on my countertop--a piece of furniture, like the KitchenAid Mixer. It is easy to set up (clock time, etc) and easy to use. (The directions are very clear.) I tried some Jasmine Rice in it for our first try--and WOW! I was totally amazed! Each piece of rice is perfect in every way. I have never had such results before. Perfect temperature, perfect texture, perfect stickiness, perfect taste. The aroma in the kitchen fills the house and it's wonderful.
There is very little steam (unlike most rice cookers) and it is very easy to clean up. It keeps the rice at that perfect temperature for hours--even longer with the extended warm feature.
I know it's expensive--but in this case, I truly believe you get what you pay for. If you want to know what rice is supposed to be like--you must get one of these! Zojirushi makes a couple of different types of rice cookers--and I have heard that they are all terrific. This one cooks with induction heating, which uses magnets... the unit doesn't get hot...
If you can--get this one!
I have a cook/warm rice cooker that I'm going to sell at a yard sale. I will never be able to go back to using that type of machine again. The difference between the Zojirushi and the cook/warm is more than night and day. The difference between the quality in the rice bowls alone is unbelievable. The Zojirushi has a bowl that is very thick and heavy, not unlike my stove top cookware. My old cook/warm rice bowl feels like one of my cheap mixing bowls.
Prior to purchasing the Zojirushi, we never really cared for brown rice. It was too crunchy/chewy. Now my family and I love brown rice. The GABA Brown Rice setting is amazing. I have never made, nor eaten, brown rice that was so light and fluffy before in my life. Because of that, we mostly eat brown rice now which is much healthier for us anyway.
You will not be disappointed with this machine. It's looks beautiful sitting on the counter top. Clean up is a breeze the stainless has some sort of coating and does not show fingerprints or smears!
UPDATE 08/12/2012: Well, after years of using this fabulous rice cooker numerous times a week, I needed to replace it. I ordered another one because my husband and I love the way this makes brown rice, other grains, and steel cut oats. The rubber seal on our original model was worn out. If we weren't around to take the food out right away, it was drying out and wasn't hot enough. I looked at the new pressure cooker model, read the various reviews, and decided to re-order this model. However, I am going to look to see if I can do something to prolong the life of the seal on my new one.
1. Add 10% more water than is indicated, this will make fluffier rice
2. In order to make Persian-style rice, throw in one tablespoon butter and salt to taste with the water: when used with Basmati rice, this would produce fragrant rice with every grain standing apart.
3. For long-grain rice, use the "Soft" option.
4. Please use it to cook brown rice on GABA setting. Exquisite.
-----------------------------------------
We have had this rice cooker for a week now and have already tried all its settings. It's unbelievable how this cooker makes fluffy, moist rice where each grain stands out without getting sticky. This happens whether you put in Basmati rice, Sushi rice or brown rice. It's astounding how the rice remain fresh, warm and hardly dry out. That was a big change for us, having used no-good Oster rice cookers until we went to a Japanese supermarket and saw how cool and functional this unit looked. We are now eating more (healthier) brown rice and not throwing away any rice the following day. The Japanese sure know how to cook rice.
The menu is simple but offers plenty of choice. The inside bowl is heavy and made of Stainless Steel and has deep and clear marking to help you add the right amount of water without having to use cups. The melodies are a bit of a nuisance, but you wouldn't hear them over your dishwasher, so that's quite all right. The cooker does take twice as long as other, cheap rice cookers, but the ensuing taste is worth the wait.
Without a doubt, the machine is beautiful. If you really want to eat great rice every time and can afford the price, this is your best choice.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer
Yes, this rice cooker is crazy expensive, but worth it. I agree with all the other reviewers that the rice comes out perfect every time, even if you leave it warming for hours. We only eat brown rice, and were disappointed with previous rice cookers that left the rice crunchy, with that disgusting hard crust at the bottom of the pan. With this cooker, every grain is perfect. We also use the "porridge" setting to cook steel cut oats and hot cereal. We do reduce the amount of water the cooker recommends for porridge, to create a thicker end product. This is just a personal preference, however. This cooker is goof proof. The timer is simple to set, and I find the little melody that plays when the cooktime begins and ends to be adorable. Since buying this product, we've been using it several times a week and eating healthier as a result. It's expensive, but take a deep breath and make this investment. You won't be disappointed.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer
Great machine for cooking rice of all kinds. Very easy to clean, too, even when cooking brown rice with azuki beans. Has a steam capturing devise which prevents too much steam from escaping into your kitchen.
