Knocking off 1 star because it only has 1 exhaust path (so it pumps the "inside air" outside as it runs). Some find that "more aesthetic", but I find that it causes drafts around the edges of the sunroom that are the outside temp.

But other than that, it seems to be rock solid, even after twising it around so we could install it in an electric VW Cabriolet!

Draws 10A @ 120V, so it's easily powered, and it does a good job at protecting itself (it won't let the compressor cycle on/off faster than 5 minutes -so if you flip from Cool to Heat, expect some delays). Bonus that the water runs from the Evaporator to the Condenser; this improves is performance mesurably.

The LED displays flicker, but meh... they work, and the unit brings 90F air down to 70F, so it'll do nicely for blowing cool or hot air (60F-> 110F)at you. I wouldn't count on it for a house, but for a cool breeze in a sunroom, it fits the bill nicely.

Wife came to me and said the dryer wouldn't turn on. You could hear an electronic click, but no movement on our electric dryer. After doing some research, figured this was the culprit. Our dryer died and I knew this had failed after testing the circut. It worked perfectly and the dryer is still going. One word of caution, sometimes these things blow out because the dryer is overheating. If the new one burns out again quickly, check the dryer vent for being plugged. If that is not the cause, time for a new dryer. Bypassing this fuse is a sure fire way to burn your house down. Pun intended.

A fuse is a pretty simple item but the one I removed was burned out and this replacement fuse makes my dryer 'as good as new'.

I am so glad and happy I was able to find this on Amazon and have it delivered to my house. Really quick delivery. I ordered on Saturday and received on Monday. I ordered two (saving one for next repair.) Very simple to replace. I used a mutimeter (costs about $10) to determine that this was what I needed. At this price though, you could just buy the thermofuse and see if it fixes the problem of the dryer not heating.

Was the exact part for my dryer. Just wished it had the product number on it so if I ever needed another one then I would have the correct number on hand. Received in a timely manner. Was glad I could get this for a little of nothing on Amazon because the only place I could actually go in and get it, the price was ridiculous and the only appliance store that sold parts within a 20-30 mile radius of my house. It ended up being my heating element on the dryer and I couldn't go another week without a dryer so I bought that at the expensive appliance store mentioned instead of online. Glad there are other options out there that don't cost so much!

I bought this expecting the extra vertical height to deliver the heat at a more direct level. Which it kind of does but that design is a compromise which doesn't offer a great benefit.

The design gives you the impression that the front fascia is mostly a heat output area but that's a lie. What they've done is taken a typical 1500W wide-type heating element and just stretched it vertically, so the actual area of output is through a 1 inch vertical gap between the center three fins. The lower quarter of the design is for the fan intake too so don't consider that part of the heating element.

What this means is the heat delivery is a very narrow area of effect and you have to be standing within about three or four feet to feel it on your skin. In fact the output even on high is not very hot at all. On the plus side it means the casing remains cool to the touch on all sides, in fact you could actually put your hand over the opening and leave it there. A hair dryer has a hotter output and at high speed this unit sounds about the same as a hair dryer so it needs to be at a distance. Low speed is more tolerable.

The remote is useful in that it has an LCD feedback display for temperature and fan setting but is very cheaply made with loose, cheap feeling buttons. The main unit fares better but it is not one of Lasko's better quality products.

If you want to slowly heat a small room then this would probably work, but for medium to large rooms the output will not provide instant heat and be in constant use trying to automatically maintain your set temperature.

Having purchased a Lasco fan which works very well and has a relatively small footprint, I definitely turned to Lasko when I was looking for a heater. The 5588 fit the bill. I have not experienced any problems, EXCEPT that when my printer (in the office where I was using the heater) began to print, the electricity went out. I had to get a new line for my office to prevent this from happening again. Now it works well! I imagine that my experience is similar to others who have purchased a heater (Lasko or another brand). It is well to be warned so you are prepared if this happens to you. Getting a new line installed cost me almost $300.00, but, in the end, it was worth it.

This is the best tower heater ive ever used. Love that the remote has a small lcd display. Heats up my bedroom quick. Love the automatic temp thing, turns off when it gets to the temp and then keeps checking it every once in a while to see if its still the same temp. Only dislike is the bright blue lights on the top, just a little too bright for sleeping.

I originally bought this heater to replace an old style on and off heater which failed after about 15 years.

This heater was much better at regulating the temperature than the old one. It keeps the bed the same temperature.

That is, until it failed. I bought it less than 8 months ago, and it can no longer heat the bed over 80 degrees.

Having the heater for your waterbed fail is a huge inconvenience. I'd rather have a heater which causes the bed to have wider temperature swings, but is reliable vs a heater with tighter temp control which needs to be replaced more often.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Hollywood CA. I have an in wall ac unit like most people do out here and no A/C in my bedroom. So I decided to try this out.... Well I couldn't be happier. Even with my window closed this fan is strong enough to keep me cool. I usually don't even put water in it but if you want it to be cold get 2 gallons of water put them in the fridge for a day then throw them in this thing. Will make it even colder. I live in a studio apartment where a 10,000-BTU a/c handles most of the cooling.

Unfortunately, the cold air doesn't quite reach the bathroom, around a corner through an alcove.

So for many years I have had a Slant/Fin Personal Zone Air Cooler perched on the window sill in there (it's a pre-war building with windows in the bathrooms), pointed down at me when I'm, uh, reading...

The S/F finally conked -the motor gave out, and water leaked through the water level indicator window -so I was looking for a compact air cooler to fit in the bathroom. S/F no longer makes air coolers, apparently.

Enter this unusual tower, which looks rather like one might expect Dr. Who's nemesis, a Dalek, to look like if the cyborg slimmed down and became a fashion model... Like a Dalek, this tower rolls around on casters, but it lacks a plunger or exterminator ray!

Goodness, but this Dalek blows a gust of cool air! If you used this just as a tower fan, it seems to blow more air at the highest of three fan speed settings than any tower fan I've ever encountered -strong enough to make a plastic bottle of dental solution wobble on the bathtub rim three or four feet away!

But things get even cooler when you push the Cool button, activating a water pump that moistens a sponge-like wick through which air blows inside the tower. You add water to the reservoir that slides back from the base of the tower; the tower also comes with two ice packs you can chill in your freezer and slide into compartments in the water reservoir, yielding extra cool air for up to four hours, according to the instructions.

Other functions include a timer for automatic shut-off, side-to-side oscillation, a sleep mode that throttles down as the night air cools off while you sleep, and a "natural" mode, which randomly changes fan speed to simulate real breezes.

I am impressed by the manufacturer's attention to detail here. When you push a button, for example, the control lights get brighter, then dim after a few minutes. The tower also comes with a handy remote, duplicating all functions on the top switch panel. And the tower includes a washable air filter to keep the wick from getting gunked up by dust in the air.

One thing I'm not sure about is whether I will need to add some bleach to the water to prevent the fetid smells most coolers and humidifiers give off over time. The instructions don't address this issue. I can't imagine that the wick is treated with a germ-retardant that will continue to work after weeks and months.

In the meantime, however, this tower of power is sure keeping my bathroom cool and comfortable! The tower would probably work in any setting where you are within a fiveor six-foot radius. I should mention as well that the fan is quiet, even at the highest setting.

I will report back if I encounter any problems. Until then, I am impressed by the amount of cooling this tower provides, running on less energy than an incandescent light bulb consumes...

The huge tree that used to shade my house was taken down this Spring. I bought this evaporative cooler to help with the increased heat. Last week we had 3 days of 100 degrees in a row. At 4pm on the third day the house was 76 degrees, which I think is success. The water holding tank is a little difficult to pull out to fill, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Warning though, only good in low humidity climates. I could feel a rise is humidity in the room, which in Colorado is almost welcomed. This unit is good for small areas. I like the sleek non-bulky look. It is quiet enough.

These are absolutely wonderful. I have an old one that I've been using for years, and I just bought the newest model as a Christmas gift for a close friend. She loves it, it has all the best features, including safety with a lock for the hot water, and choice of either button dispensing or pump-pot action; easy to use, convenient as you always have hot water for tea, etc., and I'm waiting for my old one to finally die so I can justify having a new one for myself. There are some very good features in this air pot

1)It is smaller than older versions made by other companies with the same capacity

2) It has an electric pump to dispense the hot water

3) It is more attractive than the older designs

4) The price seems lower than the old versions

Some things that could use improvement:

1) The manual pump is like the old manual pumps and will probably eventually develop a leaky gasket

2) The manual pump would be better replaced with a lever action pump that does not depend on a gasket seal.

Having grown up in a household with a hot water tap, I'm used to having near-boiling water available at all times except on Shabbat, when, a rabbi told my mother, the tap could not be used (years later, a different rabbi, who had a different understanding of how the technology worked, told me it is permissible!). So once I was on my own, some sort of urn or electric pump pot was a must. I bought this one to replace an old one that died, and am pleasantly surprised by the new features, including the instant dispense button and switch (although they can't be used on Shabbat either, as they make a light go on, but you can still pump out water by pressing the original spot), and the concave front, which allows your cup or teapot to nestle up close. The price is right, the unit works, and my only concern is that I'll run out of water before Shabbat is over! We purchased this HOT POT for our boat. We run it while on the boat to get hot water for our coffee, tea, cup o noodles, etc. It's an awesome little hot pot to have.. We are very happy with our purchase wished we purchased it alot sooner.. Love it love it love it!!! I like the automatic dispenser button you can only use this feature if it's plugged in otherwise you have to use the pump. Overall, I still like my hot pot! Maybe look for a bigger one. This one only takes 3L=a little less then 1 gal.

Works exactly as described, but I'm using it for a coffee urn, so it wasn't exactly suited for the purpose. There's a big red label on the piece that sits inside the urn/chafing dish, and over a few uses, it started to disintegrate. I eventually had to remove it using nail polish remover, which took an hour, because it was never meant to be removed. It would have been better had the warning label been designed to be removed.

If you like expresso or lattes and you are looking for convenience and portability, here's your answer. Simply unscrew the top from the bottom. Fill the bottom to the line with water. Place the metal filter in the bottom and fill with your favorite ground coffee. Now, screw the top half of the pot back on place the pot on the electric heating plate and wait 5-6 minutes to pour excellent coffee. I like to warm lowfat milk in the microwave while I wait. The coffee beeps when it's ready, and you simply pour. Sweeten to taste. A full pot makes one venti-sized latte or six espresso sized portions. Barristas unite!

I owned the first model of Bialetti electric moka pot, which didn't have a separate base. It was used daily with no problem, then just stopped working. It was still under warranty so the company replaced it with this model as soon as it was available; it was distributed in Italy before the USA. Their customer service staff were wonderful to work with.

The difference in the new electric moka model is that the base, which houses the electric switch, is now separate. I've been using this model daily for almost a year now, with absolutely no problems.

Stovetop models make a better "espresso type" coffee, producing some crema on top. I still use my stovetop moka pots at home because I have the leisure time to watch & listen for the brewing to finish.

The electric pot is kept at work, where I can enjoy wonderful coffee brewing right in my office, instead of the tasteless coffee brewed in the breakroom. Not having to worry about the coffee burning, if I have to step out while it's brewing, is a big advantage. The light turns green and the pot beeps distinctly for about 1 minute when the brewing is finished, then it shuts itself off. It brews coffee faster than my stovetop moka pots at home. Supposedly it will keep the coffee warm for about 20 minutes, but I pour mine immediately, so I've never tested that feature! It brews about 10oz. of strong, espresso-type coffee (with a small amount of crema), to which I add 6 oz. of milk heated in the microwave. Illy is the brand of coffee I use; they've just come out with a new product especially for moka coffee, ground a bit coarser.

I've no complaints about Bialetti's product! This wonderful electric moka pot has saved me the money that I used to squander daily at Starbucks. I'm also less rushed & frazzled in the morning because I don't have to wait in long lines at SB's, and I get to work thirty minutes early. Several people in my building bought this model after tasting my coffee, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews from them.

The coffee is great fuller and richer than with our Mr. Coffee. We loved our little pot and after three weeks, the power base just stopped working. The return to Target will be simple just drop it by the store but I hesitate to buy another.

For those who dare: be sure to keep your coffeemaker very dry [it's best to store it disassembled], be careful never to add water above the escape valve [or it can blow], screw it together tightly and hold the coffeemaker not the handle when you twist. And for us, this made one large mug.

I'm giving it a 3 since it broke so soon [and believe me, I pampered the little pot]. The coffee tastes great!

I'm an Italian-American. My grandparents were born in Italy, and my mother brewed espresso in a very large stainless steel pot that I have inherited and use when I have company. I find fancy cappuccino and espresso makers a bit ridiculous. I've tried numerous smaller espresso pots, and been disappointed with all of them. Either they were difficult to dismantle and clean, or the coffee was bitter, or the manufacturer had tried to combine a stove-top espresso pot with a latte/cappuccino maker and failed: after emitting alot of steam, the pot produced muddy, undrinkable coffee.

This pot works. I bought the electric version because the burners on my stove are too large for a smaller pot. (Beware -if you balance a small pot on a large burner, the handle will weaken and break off -this happened to me and it was not pretty.) The coffee is delicious and the pot is easy to clean -just dump out the grinds and rinse. In fact, this pot is just like my Mom's, albeit electrical. Although it's advertised for six cups of espresso, it's great for brewing the one, large cup that I prefer after dinner. In fact, if I didn't have my mother's ancient large espresso pot, I'd definitely buy an even larger version for company.

A word of advice: wash out the grinds and clean the pot right away, so that your pot does not deteriorate and your coffee become "bitter." Vinegar wash will not fix a pot whose finish has deteriorated; the only way to prevent such damage is to clean the pot immediately after each use.

The unit makes very tasty coffee, but note that it produces about 1.5 American cups, not 6. When they say 6, they mean 6 small espresso cup servings. I liked to brew up the pot and pour it into a large mug, which was perfect. The bad news is the electric base was fussy, and sometimes the on/off button wouldnt click on; the base chirped the way it does if you forget to put water in. After a few episodes of not being able to turn the base on, it eventually quit working entirely. Well, that was pretty disappointing because the unit is expensive. Today the owner of a chef's supply in my town suggested I contact Bialetti, which I did tonight. I think I've had the unit for about a year, so it may not be under warranty. I dont feel the base is built to last, so consider that when you contemplate buying this model. It might be better to go for the stove-top version, although with that one you need to stay by the stove to avoid ruining the brew and burning the handle off the pot. Phooey, I wish this thing were better engineered. I really liked it, but it isnt long-lasting.

The power usage is minimal and I feel part of that is the top loading door versus a front loading door. The cold air stays in the fridge and therefore needs less power to keep things cold. The price for the 63qt is great. I couldn't be happier. It is similar to the Whytner/EdgeStar/whatever clones but with a better controller board and some added features... Build quality and materials are top knotch. The wireless remote temp and voltage monitoring is cool and works well, no one else has this. Current consumption while the compressor is running is around 5.5 amps but seems to keep the heat out well. My testing was brief but seemed to indicate that the claimed hourly average current consumnption is possible (fully loaded cool day in the shade) I will update the review after some long term testing. Went with 4 stars since there are more efficient compressors out there like in the Engel/ARB/NationalLuna price bracket. For this price range I say it is top shelf. Only time will tell if it can stand up over the long term.

I was really looking forward to getting this fireplace up and running, especially for the price. However, the phase "you get what you pay for" applies well here.

The construction is high school shop class grade. The four spot welds on the base of the stand failed, causing the fireplace to lean, and eventually fall, forward. (Not very safe for something containing a liquid on fire.) Despite the rest of the elements being very dirty out of the box, I really wanted to get this up, and complete my bedroom makeover for my wife. So, I took the stand to an auto shop and had the base welded properly.

Success. Base was made stable. Got it back home and put the rest of it together (which is very easy). Now is where the real disappointment came in. I hadn't noticed previously that the face (which is just a one-side stainless steel facade) had major dents on the edges. The fuel box, which has a stainless steel top, was pretty scuffed-up as well. (I thought I could just polish it up, but all of my efforts in that department were fruitless.)

I tried to ignore all of that and just put it together for "the big reveal." But in the end, it just looked terrible. Aside for the dents, scuffs, and crappy welding in critical areas, the fireplace doesn't appear whole. It's just made up of pieces of metal that are bent to make the front and sides, but there is no back. So, without the dents and scuffs, the fireplace would look good on camera when viewing it directly from the front. However, if you put in anywhere that you can either see it from ANY other angle that directly in front of it, or if you get within 10 feet of it, you'll see just how cheaply it is made.

It's a shame, really. It's got a good design concept (which is why I give it two stars versus one). Just really poor execution.

My fireplace was not packaged properly, heavy metal parts were not secured, so the box arrived with holes taped by UPS and the parts were scratched and bent. Nevertheless I have put the unit together to decide if I should order a replacement and decided against it. The fireplace does not look as nice as on the picture, the parts have blemishes, some of the edges are rough and the whole unit feels flimsy and cheap. Amazon took it back without any problems.

I would really give this 4.5 stars. The 1/2 star deduction is for lack of fuel (I knew it doesn't come with fuel, but I think 1 bottle to start should be included). Also, the instructions were a little too simplistic. You could make reasonable assumptions and figure out how to fill the fireplace with fuel, for example, but I would have like explicit instructions just because there's fire involved and it's inside my house. Again, it wasn't anything you can't figure out, but I like to be 100% sure I'm doing it right when it could be potentially dangerous.

I've use the fireplace twice now with their recommended fuel. One 1-litre bottle lasted about 2.5. hours at the largest flame and raised the 400 sq ft room about 2-3 degrees. There was a slight smell once the fireplace extinguished, but nothing alarming or very bad and it dissipated before morning.

I was worried that it would be too small when I read the dimensions, but it looks fantastic. It has about the same footprint of a standard fireplace in a newer house.

Finally, I thought it felt a little flimsy once we put it together (which took about 5 min), but I tried to knock it down on carpet (while empty of course), and it was pretty difficult, so I'm not worried about that. I do NOT think this is very safe for kids, particularly young kids. I probably would not light this with kids under 10 around and above 10, only while supervised.

I am both happy and disappointed , Dang I love the look and the contemporary style BUT !!! ( What an ugly word but ) This product looks and feels like it was sitting in a warehouse for a decade . The box was old and destroyed . There is scuffs on the face . After I clearly sent an email stating -Actual email to seller--- Hello. If I may there's a lot of bad reviews for this but absolutely love the look , please please look over the product before shipping , I am going against all bad reviews and trust you and more over in God . Can't wait to see it Thanks so much

It is way over priced but more over seller does not care what they send out , Product quality is very poor .....

Cheap Sylvania Compact Heater Fan

This heater worked fine for about a year but now, only the low setting works. The high setting no longer works. Chinese made crap you get what you pay for and Sylvania is at the lower end of the scale.
