I wanted a reasonably priced water heater that also provides nice functions. I was a little worried after reading the first review about the burn marks, but to my surprise it has gotten great reviews elsewhere, so I decided to give it a try.

Funny that when I received the package I was deliberately looking out for signs of previous usage or burn marks. But it was brand new. Shiny stainless steel tank. Now it has worked perfectly for me for about a month, no any marks whatsoever. I feel it is a good idea to provide this review, so people don't just walk away from this nice water heater and possibly go for something more expensive but inferior.

I did realize that there is a stainless steel exterior version of this heater and tend to be about 10-15 dollars more expensive than this one. But if you check the manufacturer's website, both versions are priced almost the same. So you are spending extra for the look.

Other pros than the product description you can read above:

--very well built

--nice size tank

--great easy to read instructions

--energy saver features (save energy during night)

--to me, it boils water fast, so fast I never realized the wait, but maybe it is due to that I don't always fill it to full

--comparatively quiet

Cons:

--it can be a little shaky, because the base enables rotation towards any direction, which is supposed to be a nice feature if you have a kitchen island, but if you don't need to turn it from time to time, not so useful. But as long as you put it on really stable surface like kitchen counters, you are fine.

Thanks for reading.

This product came looking totaly diff from the picture here in Amazon (I did post some actual picture of the product) but manage to be a wonderfull suprice for me. I totaly love the stainless steal version of this product it gives it a more modern look to it now for the pro & cons.

PROS:

Products seems to be well build and feels solid wont be supprice if this one last as long or longer than my old one which is around 3 years.

Come with great instruction one that actually make sence. And I know you know what I'm talking about.

Energy saver features of this product is great I can time it to switch off at night and by the next morning you got hot water waiting for you knowing the unit is not eating up electricity all through the night.

Safety features of this product is great for family who have kids around. (the unit wont dispence hot water unless electronically unlock first.

3 way to dispence hot water, including a manual one which is great if the unit is in sleep mode. GREAT THINKING GUYS!

CONS:

It takes a little long for it to boil water if all the water inside is tap cool but reboil is quick

Safety unlock feature button is starting to show sign of use not bad but noticable.

Be carefull where to put it cause the top do vent a lot of steam when boiling water so please make a note of that before initial operation of the product.

All in all great product worthy of 5 star in my book and highly recomended

I loved everything about this appliance, except it doesn't have auto shutoff on low water level. If you don't check the water level (which is a screwy arrangement of diagonal lines) and try to dispense when the level is too low, it will sputter out. Then, if you don't turn it off right away (even the time it takes to go grab more water), it will overheat and damage the thermostat. I also got that information from Aroma's customer service line (known problem). Other heaters on this site have this feature. And it will be inevitable that it will happen sooner or later to you with this appliance.

Honest reviews on Aroma Hot Water Central 4-Quart Air Pot/Water Heater

Before buying this product I used a Zojiarushi brand in a condo I was renting. When I bought my own place I wanted my own -it was so convenient -but was a little put-off by the price of Zojiarushi. Aroma cost less, but it is easily as nice! I can't find anything inferior about it at all! I especially love how easy it is to dispense and that it locks after a couple of minutes.

Thank you Aroma!

When it arrived it was defective and did not work. The seller refunded my money and told me to dispose of the water heater, so I decided to open it up and see if I could find out what was wrong.

The manufacturer in China made the wiring harness for the circuit board too short, so almost half of the connectors had pulled away from the circuit board. I moved some wires around I was able to reconnect them to the circuit board without them pulling out again. I Plugged it in and it worked perfectly!

So, while I love the features such as the choice of manual pump, push button pump, cup switch and 3 temperature settings, the quality control seems to be lacking, and it is not very well insulated. The outside is quite warm when in use.

One more thing, the water will not dispense when it is heating up. The boiling cycle needs to complete before the water pump will work, but you can still use the manual pump if you don't want to wait.

I bought this heater because I wanted three selectable heat settings so I could adjust the temperature of the air coming from the unit. Most heaters tend to produce a small amount of very hot air (especially ceramic heaters). The problem with this is that contributes to air stratification--the heat rises quickly to the top of the room and the floor remains cool. This unit has three heat settings from which to choose, and since it is a standard resistance heater and fan, it produces a (comparatively) large amount of warm air (as compared to a small amount of very hot air).

The package claims that the heat settings are 600, 900, and 1500 watts. (Most heaters are 1500 watts on their highest setting). However, I used a Kill A Watt meter, which registers the exact wattage, and recorded the results.

On fan-only: 10 watts

Low heat: 530 watts

Medium heat: 770 watts

High heat: 1270 watts

As you can tell, it is not quite 1500 watts, but this is totally fine with me--I just want it to gently warm the area around my desk at work, not bake a turkey. Also, an added advantage is that a standard 15 amp electrical outlet can carry a maximum wattage of 1875 watts. Since my computer and monitor must also be plugged into this outlet, and an average computer and monitor are 400 watts together, this will bring me to a total of 1670 watts--enough that I do not have to worry about tripping a circuit breaker.

The unit quiet and is thermostatically controlled; it turns on and off as it reaches the desired temperature. With that said, it does not have a digital thermostat that some of the nicer models have. You will need to guess and test to see if you prefer it set to "warmer" or "cooler" or somewhere in between. For the record, the coolest temperature mine will allow is 65ºF.

This reasonablypriced heater effectively, quickly, warmed up a cold, medium-sized bathroom . While it does not have a swivel feature, it operates at low noise level and has a good air output. We are quite satisfied with it.

When I first opened the package I wondered how such a small heater could do very much to warm up my bedroom which is about 11x12 and on a northwest corner. It can become quite chilly in the winter months. I place the heater on the floor and set it on medium heat with the fan on high. Within about 30 minutes the chill is gone and the room is comfortable at which time I turn it off before getting under the covers. My cat plops himself down 1 to 2 feet from it and peacefully sleeps until I turn it off at which time he joins me on my bed. As I live in SoCal it rarely gets below 34 degrees at night so I can't say how good it would be for colder climes.

First thermostat/remote purchase. Using it on a Martin fireplace with great results. Difficulty of installation of 5 if 1-10, just b/c I had to do some minor mods to install the off/on/remote component on the wall and 2 feet of supplied wire didn't suffice. Very easy to operate, and didn't mind that the thermostat is programmed to activate when it is 2 degrees below your set temp and shuts off the flame 2 degrees above the set temp. So if you set it at 71 deg, it will turn on at 68 deg and off at 73 deg. Haven't had the need to use the remote from the lazyboy yet, works just fine setting it while mounted to the wall and walking away. With evening temps at 38-45 deg the fireplace comes on about 3 times for mayb 20 min intervals and then shuts off. It is usually turned on at 6pm and shut off at 10pm. Had the thermostat for 3 months now and very satisfied.

I used this thermostat for one winter on a QuadraFire pellet stove. Install was simple. The unit kept the temperatures in the right zone. Operation was fine for me (Mr Rocket Science), but was not as simple for the other half. I will retrain the other half next season. I did encounter the pellet stove not turning on. I contacted the support via email and had a response in one hour. The batteries had gotten to low and temperature communication had stopped. This forced the stove to turn off and it got cold. I flipped the override on the receiver and we were toasty again.

A year ago I got into a bit of a "emergency preparedness" mode, and among other things, bought one of these devices, installed it in my water heater pan and then forgot all about it.

At 12:30 a.m. a couple of nights ago, an alarm began ringing. I had no idea what it was, except that it wasn't a smoke detector (not as loud as that) but after wandering around the house for a bit, I followed the sound to the basement and found a small amount of water in the water heater pan. The alarm turned off as soon as I pulled the sensors out of the water.

It was soon obvious this was no small leak. Over the next 12 hours until we got the water heater replaced, we easily bailed 30 or more gallons of water out of the bin we placed to catch the overflow from the pan.

Had the alarm not sounded, it could have been 24 hours or more before the leak was noticed. The basement storage room where the water heater is located, and the adjoining (carpeted) rec room would have been flooded, requiring a major effort to dry them out and damage/destruction of a number of items. Drying out the basement to prevent mold would have required the rental of some high-powered dehumidifiers (been there, done that).

This item did exactly what it was supposed to do. After reading some of the reviews indicating some lack of reliability, I may well install a couple of extras in the basement as backup, and putting some in other locations, such as under/near the washing machine, under sinks, and under the dishwasher, seems like a good idea.

Important tip learned during the water heater replacement:

The expansion tank intalled with the water heater has a shorter life span than the heater itself, and when it fails, the pressure from expansion of heating water then causes damage to the water heater tank itself, shortening its life. To test whether the expansion tank has failed, tap along the side of the tank starting from the bottom. There should be a noticeable change of pitch between the bottom (which contains the bladder full of water) and the top, which should contain air. If it sounds the same all the way up, the bladder has failed and the entire expansion tank has filled with water, preventing it from doing its job of relieving pressure in the water heater tank. Replacing the expansion tank is much cheaper than replacing both it and the heater, and may keep your heater going for years longer.

The Water Alarm also has a 6-foot sensor wire, so that you can extend the sensor into a sump pump, or the alarm will sound before water spills out onto the floor. The alarm plugs into the wall plus has a 9 Volt battery backup. We use ours for the sump pump & it works wonderfully!

When the alarm goes off...we pull up on the sump pump floater string & the sump pump starts right away and the alarm turns off right away.

The alarm is loud. Our house is a ranch style, a bit over 1,100 sq ft...the sump pump is in the basement...opposite corner than our bedrooms on the main floor...I could still hear the alarm going off in the middle of the night.

This item works as it says it will, I'd purchase this item again. We purchased our's at a major hardware store in our area for about $10

Why is this better than Leak Frog:

1) 5-yr run time on each battery, provided that battery's expiry date is not earlier than that. Leak Frog? 1 yr. Maybe 2~3 yrs if you use Li batteries (my assumption only see my Leak Frog comment).

2) $9.95 @ my local hardware store and this is widely available. Leak Frog? Almost $15 now and seems like it's Amazon's exclusive offering.

3) Audibly louder than Leak Frog.

4) No screwdriver needed for battery compartment door, Leak Frog needs screwdriver to access that supposedly annually too! I dislike.

5) Slender form factor makes it easier to snug in underneath fridge and dishwasher.

6) Remote (if desired) sensor placement within 6' makes it super versatile. I inserted this remote sensor far deep underneath my fridge with ease. Leak Frog? Where it is located is where it senses.

7) Less toyish look I didn't pay a premium for the latest stainless appliances so that I can place a green toy there in plain sight. I wish that the Watchdog was black (or stainless) and smaller than this, but this is still acceptable.

8) 5-yr manufacturer's warranty. Leak Frog's 1 yr.

9) Leak Frog maker seems to be a one hit wonder. This one's mother company makes a wide assortment of other basement flood prevention goodies. This seems more pro.

I already own 4 Leak Frogs & now 2 Watchdogs, I still need at least 2 more water alarms, I'll get the Watchdog from now on...

Honest reviews on Glentronics, Inc. BWD-HWA Basement Watchdog Water Sensor and Alarm

I bought 2 of these from Lowe's today for $13.58 (model BWD-HWA). Each requires a 9 volt battery, has a 6 foot sensor wire and a 5 year warranty, although no guarantee it will work. It can stand alone or be attached to a wall with the sensor wire extended. The sensor wire can be spliced up to 100 feet, if you supply the wire. It's also claimed that the alarm sounds up to 3 days.

This thing needs to be in a puddle of water (1/32" minimum) to work because it has 2 sensors on the bottom that need electrical current flow between them the water being the conductor. It's not going to sense drops of water, but it should work in a flood situation where water is covering the floor.

I tested the ones I bought and they do work in a puddle, but the alarm needs to be a bit louder. It claims to be 110 decibels, and if that's true, then it's louder than most similar alarms.

It has a constant (non beeping) high pitch sound similar to a smoke detector but not nearly as loud. It can be heard if not too far away, but to be effective, it should be heard everywhere in the house and waken you while asleep. So depending on your hearing, the size of your house and where you are when it sounds, it may work well for you. However, none of these devices work if you can't hear them.

Should one of these devices fail, it would be wise to place more than one where a lot of flooding could occur and cause major damage to your house. Where your washing machine is located is a prime candidate.

I installed this in my sump pump basin. Over the winter condensation collected to the extent that it set off the alarm. This happened twice. The contacts should have been designed to dangle separately from a support. The support collected the moisture causing the two contacts to complete the alarm's circuit.

There is no switch to turn off the alarm so while it is screaming LOUDLY you have to take the battery out. I don't know why it didn't stop after I dried the moisture from the contacts.

Think very hard before buying this machine. We bought it with the hope it might actually cool down a room, or at least keep a room comfortable, but alas nothing of the sort was achieved. Instead we are left with a frightfully noisy and large thing that fails simply does not work.

It is besides a very poorly engineered machine, demanding that one spends half an hour at a time just adding or subtracting one of the hoses depending on how hot it is outside. And then one is left to refit it to the window, which cannot be done without copious amounts of unsightly gaffer tape. The instruction guide is so idiotically conceived as to explain, with an entire page of the booklet, how to fit batteries into the remote, yet not a word was written on how to connect any of the hoses, nor how to adjust the vent.

It should be a crime that such a machine be allowed to be sold. Do yourself a favor and buy something, anything, else.

I've got this unit in my bedroom, it's a small room of about 300 square feet. I live in Florida and it's very hot and humid for a large portion of the year. Works great, it's quiet, I've got several fans and they all make much more noise than this unit does. Even my little 12 inch desktop Sylvania is louder. It's a quiet humming that doesn't disturb. Keeps the room cool and blows cold air. It can keep my room at below 70 even in 100+ degree weather.

The dual hose system is nice, but it's been too hot for me to use it much. The manual recommends using a single hose if the outside temp is above 95, and it has been for a while here. I have used it that way on a couple of occasions when the temperature dropped into the low 90s. It does cool faster with both hoses hooked up, but can effectively cool my room even with a single hose with no trouble. It just takes a few more minutes to cool off. Switching out hoses is simple and only takes a moment to do. You just twist one end into the back of the unit and insert the adapter end into the window mount. If using single hose mode, the intake vent should be covered with one of the supplied vent covers.

It's also not a huge power draw. Heating mode does take quite a bit, a little more than 1200 watts, but cooling is a little less than 1000 watts. It's about the same as running my PC.

The manual is horrible and it's not made clear that you may have to do a bit of cutting to the window mounts for the hoses to get them to fit your window frame. It's the worst thing about this product, but looking up the instructions for another similar unit online did fill in the holes the user manual for this unit had.

For example, I had to use the instructions from another company's similarly designed dual hose AC to discover that the intake vent should be covered when running in single hose mode. It's not mentioned in the manual at all. Another tip is to extend the end of the intake/exhaust hoses out a bit before trying to screw on the window exhaust/intake adapters. The manual doesn't mention it, but they don't screw on properly unless you extend the hose a little on the end.

I considered taking a star off for those issues, but the unit is good enough to forgive them. It wasn't difficult to figure out what to do just based on how the parts fit together. The initial installation instructions are the only area that suffered. Operating the unit once installed is clear enough. It doesn't explain how to hook up the hoses and the window mounting section. It's not hard to figure out, but it did cause a moment of frustration. Once I figured it out, it mounted into the window with no trouble aside from a bit of trimming on the plastic sliding section [no tape or extra materials required].

It's an excellent product, well designed, and it works as advertised. It won't cool off a house, but will keep a 350 square foot room comfortable with ease even in extremely hot weather. The instructions are poorly written and not nearly as detailed as they should be, but as I said, filling in the holes with a user's manual PDF from another dual hose AC was easy to do and filled in any information gaps left in the poorly written instructions. I shouldn't have needed to do that, but it's not a problem with the unit itself.

It's a great AC unit with a horrible user manual. Worth every cent I paid for it, and I really don't think poor technical writing justifies a ding in the score. The unit itself is exactly what it says it is, and does exactly what it says its supposed to.

I could have spent $15 locally for the same part; the one I received was FPS, which is Whirlpool's replacement parts company. The part had the same numbers on it as the old part.

Stuck it on, and everything is fine. No muss, no fuss, and saved myself $10.

By the way, the drawing on the website is incorrect; the tabs are straight (like my old part), not bent at 90 degrees like the drawing.

Wife came to me and said the dryer wouldn't turn on. You could hear an electronic click, but no movement on our electric dryer. After doing some research, figured this was the culprit. It arrived earlier than expected (I think a business day earlier, which was a Friday, so that was nice). This was the best price that I found. Easy to install, and fixed the problem.

Best Deals for Whirlpool/Kenmore dryer thermofuse 3392519

Our dryer died and I knew this had failed after testing the circut. It worked perfectly and the dryer is still going. One word of caution, sometimes these things blow out because the dryer is overheating. If the new one burns out again quickly, check the dryer vent for being plugged. If that is not the cause, time for a new dryer. Bypassing this fuse is a sure fire way to burn your house down. Pun intended.

A fuse is a pretty simple item but the one I removed was burned out and this replacement fuse makes my dryer 'as good as new'.

I am so glad and happy I was able to find this on Amazon and have it delivered to my house. Really quick delivery. I ordered on Saturday and received on Monday. I ordered two (saving one for next repair.) Very simple to replace. I used a mutimeter (costs about $10) to determine that this was what I needed. At this price though, you could just buy the thermofuse and see if it fixes the problem of the dryer not heating.

Was the exact part for my dryer. Just wished it had the product number on it so if I ever needed another one then I would have the correct number on hand. Received in a timely manner. Was glad I could get this for a little of nothing on Amazon because the only place I could actually go in and get it, the price was ridiculous and the only appliance store that sold parts within a 20-30 mile radius of my house. It ended up being my heating element on the dryer and I couldn't go another week without a dryer so I bought that at the expensive appliance store mentioned instead of online. Glad there are other options out there that don't cost so much!

I was pleased with the realism of the flame function, but somewhat disappointed with the amount of heat it generates. I have a Dimplex stove-type as well and it outperforms the insert. Someone wanting the ambiance of a fire in the hearth, might consider how the Dimplex Stove would look in the firebox instead of the insert if heat is a primary consideration.

This is a nice heavy stove and with a little work can be a very effeiecent stove, I looked under the top lid of mine and could see some fire around part of the lenghth, so I took a wood working clamp and put it on the top and bottom vertically and tightened it up, the top went down into the grove and stayed ther after removing the clamp, that made it air tight around the top, ( I also took the top off and changed the gasket ) then I had bought plenty of 1/2" and 3/8" gasket material so I put gasket material around the groves where the round stove plates go, then I made a little piece of alumiuim to fit under the door where there was quite a large gap, my stove will burn for 10 hours now without having to load it up very much, there are several mor thing I did to improve the stove, such as taking valve grinding compound and seating the sliding damper to the part it slides on and building a sliding damper to sit on top of the 2 air draft slots, it wasn't a lot of work and now I can control the fire, I could not control it at all before the modifications, now I love my 2421 stove. like the gentleman said in previous review you can make it better with work. mine leaked bad when i got it, unusable. so i patched the seams with furnace cement, helped a lot but you still get smoke from openings , if you want to work on those areas as well maybe you could get it to stop leaking smoke. after all the sealing i did, i put out the lights and shined a flash light in the room and there was a haze of smoke all through the room. it seems to eat wood quit a bit also all and all there are too many problems with it and i don't consider something a good product if you have to do so much work to it just to be able to put up with it. if you can get it for a couple hundred bucks it may be worth it to put in a work shed or area outside. don't waste your money on this one.

Rustic/Classic looking stove.

Assembly is possible if you have some metal working ability, as some of the parts need to be filed to fit, and then re-painted.

Instructions aren't very helpful at all, though you will eventually figure it out through trial and error if you are handy.

It is LONG... if you are replacing an existing stove, measure the stove area and draw a diagram of how this will fit. Mine doesn't, as it is on a raised brick platform. Since there are no diagrams on the outside of the box, you should measure the floor model at TSC to decide if it will fit.

I haven't fired it up yet, so I cannot comment on the performance, though the metal to metal part fit has me concerned that it will smoke at the seams.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is an unexpectedly nice fire ring! I am using it tonight around my front yard firepit (a scooped out dish in the ground, lined with limestone rocks).

The design is not too 'cowboy kitch': the horses are stylized, and can mix it up with more than the bear-and-moose decor you often see around cabins.

I like it for lighting a fire in my pit to watch as the sun sets over the red rocks. This is really pretty when flames are burning.

It functions more for looks than as a windbreak, although it does help some with wind.

SORT OF PORTABLE

It manages to be lightweight for a hunk of metal. It's easy to carry around, once assembled, and sturdy enough. It contains a fire nicely around a small to medium firepit. A large firepit, as in one containing wooden pallets, would be too big.

Note that this fire ring is only somewhat portable. It does break down into four pieces that nest together, but you need to realize the pieces/bolts will be covered with soot (and possibly hot) and you need to use a tool to tighten and release the dirty (hot) screwbolts.

With that in mind, you can still pick up the entire ring and toss it in the back of your pickup, which makes it 'portable'. It's not heavy or awkward to carry for a 5'4 woman like me.

I can see cleaning it off and breaking it down at each season's end to store nicely in my RV for travel.

There is no sack for the included bolts and tools (just a tiny ziplock), or for the four metal pieces that make the ring, so I will have to figure out some way to keep all the pieces together when disassembled in the RV basement. A canvas carry bag would have been a nice touch.

NOT A FIREPIT

For people who intend to set up the ring once and leave it alone, assemblage is a non-issue. Realize this is NOT a firepit. There is no top or bottom to the ring. If you set the metal on flammable materials, the fire will not be contained. Use your own best judgement with fire! :)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We've been thinking about building a fire pit near the woods at the edge of our property along with some chairs and some steps to lead up to this area. This CobraCo ring is the perfect size for what we need. It is quite easy to assemble and looks great where we placed it. It would be nice to have an ash tray or sorts but with the very flat location we have, it is very easy to clean out. With it easy to assemble, makes it very easy to clean and take on a camping trip.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As long as you know that it will suit your specific needs, I think this is a nice product. It's quite large in circumference, but low in height, so it's perfect for a low-burning fire you spread out so several people can stand or sit around it. Just be aware that it's only a ring with no bottom, so you need to have an area cleared for it on the ground. You can't use it on the grass, for example.

They call it portable, and technically it is, but it's more practical for use on your own property. If you do plan to take it camping, it's best if you're going to stay in one place for awhile. Putting it together and taking it apart multiple times will get tedious. It's fairly easy to put together. Just be sure you have all the bolts in place all the way around before you start tightening the nuts. Otherwise it's hard to fit the later pieces together.

The metal seems quite sturdy, but it has some sharp edges, so be careful if you have kids who want to help. Also keep in mind that everything's going to get sooty with use, so assembly will get messier over time.

Honest reviews on CobraCo FRHORS369 Horse Campfire Ring

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have a rudimentary fire pit right off my patio and enjoy a bonfire on cool evenings or when entertaining family and friends outdoors. I decided to order this because I thought it would be safer if my paver-lined dirt pit had sides to keep the tree branches and cut logs within. The ring works really well for that purpose, but make sure you understand that this is a ring and has no bottom so it will have to be erected or placed on top of some sort of fireproofed base. This was easy to assemble right out of the box 4 curved black metal panels with 12 screws and nuts secured using the two wrench tools that were included in the package. The sides are about 9 inches high from the ground and the diameter is about one yard (36 inches) so keep that in mind when setting it up and laying the wood inside for the fire. I don't plan on disassembling it to take on any camping trips, but it seems that it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to do that if you wanted to pack it and haul it. The pieces fit inside each other. The metal pieces are painted black and seem sturdy, and look like they will resist rust.

I'm sure I will enjoy this for years to come!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This campfire ring works well. It is heavy enough that it holds up well and stays in place, but yet easy to assemble and take apart and transport.

We go to a beach that allows small fires on the sand and this is perfect. I have always worried about logs rolling off and into someone sitting near. This solves that problem since it contains the fire in one place and the ashes too, for easy clean up once everything has cooled.

At home we laid some paving stones in a square down by our picnic table and this is nice for atmosphere and warmth and better still it is more fun for the grandkids and us to roast marshmallows over and make s'mores. We do not have to all stand around a grill; we can sit and have some old fashioned fun and campfire stories too.

For three years we have had two of these Aube 7-day units controlling two zones of radiant heat from an oil-fired boiler. We have been very happy with their trouble-free operation. I later purchased another brand that was on sale but found it was not as convenient as the two Aube units I was using. I then decided to purchase a third Aube TH140-28-01 thermostat, and I again find it the easiest to program and use, and again it is a thermostat that evenly controls the room temperature. This new Aube unit is working adjacent to another radiant zone's manual thermostat and is connected to an LPG 3-sided glassed fireplace. We keep the radiant zone at 67F. The digital thermostat comes on at 6 AM abd warms the open living area and kitchen zone to 72F and maintains that temperature until evening when the digital drops back to 64F, which then allows the radiant portion to keep the floors warmed at 67F through the night. My result has seen a true cost savings of more than $200 half way through our cold Maine heating season. We are now the most comfortable we have been in the past four years. I truly recommend this Aube thermostat. It is easy to program and install.... and it looks nice on the wall. Also, if I over-ride the program momentarily, I leave the door cover open as a reminder that I need to return it to its programmed control.

This is the sweetest little stove that you could ever want! It is all that it says and the "show" is great! It really is very impressive.

The quality of the workmanship is good. It heats up a room 10x15 in about 15 minutes, at which point you can turn the heat down to almost

nothing or turn it off and just leave the "flames burning". I do like the fact that it does heat quickly, it saves a lot of money in the

long run because you can turn it down or off. The odor that many spoke of when you first turn it on is minimal and burns off quickly, by the second use, there was none at all. There is a big notice on the box that there will be a slight smell when first turned on, so the manufacturer is up front about it. I can really recommend this product for the ambiance that it gives to a room and for its quick heat up of a room. I actually used this for a Christmas party, the room was chilly, I heated the room and by the time my guests did arrive, everyone commented about the adorable little stove! Since I live in an NYC apartment and have no access to a fireplace, this really does

make the place warm and friendly. A great buy at a really great price. I have seen other such products at much more and not halfway as nice.

It's very pretty and works as advertised. While you can run the flame without the heater, there isn't an option to run the heater without the flame. I tried turning the dial all the way down on the flame 'brightness' knob and it pretty much went out, but the thing inside that makes the flicker was still rotating and there was a very faint light. I wonder how long the bulb inside will last? There are instructions on how to take the back off and put in a new one. It says it uses a 40 watt, E12 socket base light bulb (candelabra base, B bulb.) The instructions appear easy enough, take the back off, put in new bulb.

My only complaint is that the legs were hard for me to put on. I couldn't do it by hand with a screwdriver, it was like the holes were slightly too small for the screws. I had to get out the electric drill, put on a phillips head attachment, and really PUSH to get the screws in. Using that methon, two legs on one side went right on, but the two on the other side wouldn't accept the 3rd screw (same location on both legs) and I think it's that the hole isn't in exactly the right place. The legs are on and good enough to hold the unit, but I will have my husband do something about getting those two legs attached better. I called the customer service line and after waiting on hold for about 8 minutes I hung up. It is Christmas season, so maybe they are really busy. Or maybe they only have one person answering the phone. The legs are on and stable enough. Someone would have to really kick the two legs that are missing the 3rd screw to get them to move.

The unit is metal and the legs are heavy guage plastic that perfectly matches the look of the metal. They don't look like plastic.

The unit itself doesn't heat up, the casing of the blower doesn't even feel hot, but the metal on the underside of the unit directly above where the hot air blows out gets hot. Nothing else on the unit is hot. The legs are very cool to the touch. (But if I had a baby crawling around, I wouldn't want him to touch the bottom metal right above the heat output. Or, if he did, he wouldn't touch it for long.)

The door has an inside magnet that you don't see that keeps it shut. There's not a clip or anything holding the door shut. But it stays shut.

I am wondering what all that forced hot air will do to the antique cypress wood floors in our bedroom. Could it dry them out or harm them in any way? I might put the unit on a small rug to protect the wood directly in front of it.

I plan to turn off the main heater at night and see how we do with just this running in our bedroom, which is about 300 sq ft. Our main heater is zoned, so we only run the bedroom at night anyway. I'm wondering if this little unit will use less electricty than our home heater and keep the bedroom warm enough. I hope so. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and might get another for our den if I can see a difference in our electric bill.

This is the best heater we've owned. For it's size and output, it's truly amazing -warm and cozy in appearance and function! Our experience with this seller is that they are efficient, courteous and very timely in answering questions about products (they have a live chat) and in shipping. It doesn't get any better than this! I highly recommend them AND the heater!

Honest reviews on Duraflame 450 Black Freestanding Electric Stove DFS-450-2

Just unpacked the stove from the box (10-27-12), read the manual, plugged it in, turned it on. Ran nicely for less than one minute, then we heard a pop and the heat and fan stopped working. Read the troubleshooting section of the manual which indicated these symptoms could mean the thermal protector has tripped. Followed instructions to turn off all switches and unplug the unit from the wall for five minutes. After 5 minutes it says to plug back in and operate as normal. Did this with no luck. Did the reset procedures four times. Still no heat or fan. Called customer service number in box. Number is to a company TwinStar. Rep answered phone, only took my info and offered to have a technician call me back within 2 days. No apology was offered, the rep was rather rude and it was a very unsatisfying call that did not give me confidence they cared or would address the problem. So now I have a brand new broken unit, waiting for a call from a service technician. Will update review when I hear back from technician.

UPDATE: Did not hear from a service technician but instead received an email from the company, TwinStar, two days later. The email was rather strange, reiterating their commitment to "world class customer service". The email, besides touting their great customer service, directed me to a link saying I had a message waiting for me, but to see this important message I had to login, create an entire account with password, provide all of my personal information, email verification, etc. Finally got to the message all it said was to return the item to the seller for an exchange. Great. Thanks. Sigh. I'll just run down to the corner Amazon store and do that. So I reported the issue to Amazon through their online tool. They contacted the seller not Duraflame or TriStar, but a company called PlumStruck and then the next day I received an email from them apologizing and telling me they were refunding my money and to either discard or donate the malfunctioning unit. I can't complain about the full refund from PlumStruck, certainly. (Assuming the refund will end up back in my account in the 7-10 days they promised.) But now I have to figure out what the heck to do with this thing. And I find it so odd that there was no attempt to fix or replace it. Seems kind of wasteful. (Hey anyone want an electric stove with no heat but with genuine simulated flames?).

I still want an electric stove with a heater so when I work from home I don't need to heat the entire house and can just heat my home office instead. So I guess I won't be ordering another one of these. Certainly will avoid any future TwinStar products if I can help it but I thought I was buying Duraflame, not TwinStar. So back to spend another couple hours researching reviews to figure out what to try next. If you find the perfect non-TwinStar product, please let me know!

Be very careful not to tilt unit when transporting it if tilted it MUST sit for at least two hours before starting it. This unit has worked well continuously for two weeks. I put it on a sill-height table so that the water would drain well and the exhaust tube would be straight. My only complaints are:

1. The fan never goes off no matter what setting it is on (the compressor does go off, but not the fan).

2. When cooling, a lot of heat is generated in the exhaust hose an insulation sleeve would be nice.

3. The drain tube is way too short.

The machine was fairly easy to set up, and it does cool the room reasonably well, but I was expecting a heat pump....not so----according to the documentation received with the machine, there is an auxiliary heater, NOT a heat pump. We will see how well this heater works this winter. One other thing....the fan runs continuously, it does not shut off when the compressor kicks off, and it is fairly noisy.

This unit has kept my kitchen down to 77 with its thermostat set on 72 during the summer's first 90-plus days here. Not bad, since I knew I was buying a portable (and therefore less efficient) A/C instead of a window or through-the-wall unit.

The salesman told me it had an internal bucket to collect the water, and that it would shut off automatically when full. He said it didn't have automatic evaporation of the moisture created by cooling and dehumidifying, which is common in modern portable A/C units, but I was fine with having an internal bucket and automatic shutoff. Just like the various dehumidifiers I've owned. However, after I'd paid a separate contractor to bring this very heavy unit to my home (the appliance store considered it "cash and carry" and therefore ineligible for their usual delivery service), I found out that it has no internal bucket. The owner has to attach a garden hose and use an external bucket, which will merrily overflow if the unit is left running with no one at home to empty that bucket as needed. Since the drain hose plug is lower than most windows, putting the hose out the window and letting it drain outside isn't practical unless the A/C unit can be raised off the floor.

The air exhaust hose does just love to come loose, and duct tape is the answer. Also, you'll need to either take the whole hose assembly out of the window so you can shut the window against heavy, wind-driven rain; or you'll need to rig some sort of outside cover for the hose, because that hose leads down into the machine and it's just begging to funnel rain inside.

Overall this unit meets my needs, but it wouldn't if I had hoped to leave it running while away from home for long periods of time. I have no idea why Frigidaire thinks an external drip bucket is a great idea, or why they can't come up with a better air exhaust hose design. From a major brand name, in an expensive machine, I expected better.

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner

My ancient apartment has almost no ventilation throughout and is always ten to fifteen degrees hotter than outside. Those crazy summer heatwaves sometimes get my room into the high 90s and as high as 105-110! It is unbearable. I could no longer take the sleepless nights in the heat and picked up one of these units. I had to "ghetto rig" the exhaust hose up to the crank out style window using a ton of cardboard and duct tape. I have it sitting on a metal computer desk that is level with the window sill.

Pros:

-Will drop the temp of the room around ten-fifteen degrees and keep it there. While not as great a window mounted unit, I'll gladly take 85 degrees over 95. The best performance I've seen so far is walking into my room @ 85 degrees and eventually getting it down to 70 (took 6 hours of continuous use).

-Remote.

-Timer so you don't end up running it all night.

-Not as loud as I was expecting it.

Cons:

-Produces a ton of water via the drain. It took no time to fill up a five gallon bucket.

-Air blows straight up. I had to rig a piece of cardboard to deflect the cold air into the rest of the room instead of straight into the ceiling and back towards the hot exhaust tube.

-The exhaust hose always comes loose from the unit

-Exhaust hose is not as flexible as I was hoping.

A quick tip I'd like to provide is sealing up all the doors and windows leading into the room you have the unit working in. The edges around my door have huge gaps that let in tons of hot air from the rest of the apartment. Some foam sealant tape and a door sweep helped with those problems and contribute to keeping the room cool.

The unit cools well and is reasonably quiet, but it leaks onto the floor (drain hose is hooked-up and functioning). The exhaust hose flange mounting is marginal as one locking tab has failed. Not the end of the world, but I've enough things to fix.
