Discount Honeywell Ceramic Surround Heater (HZ-435)

Honeywell Ceramic Surround Heater
Customer Ratings: 3 stars
Buy Now
I bought this heater in November 2012. It's run well for the most part. But it has some problems, which I've listed below.

The most recent problem, described below, was severe enough that I decided to return or exchange it. It was supposed to be warrantied for a year, so I dug up the receipt, only to find that although the warrantee was good for a year, the receipt had expired! Which makes the "warranty" worthless. (My mistake, I bought it from Target, a store with a terrible return policy.) (This is Target's fault of course, not the manufacturer's). I could send it back to the manufacturer, but the postage would cost almost as much as the heater.

Summing things up:

1) WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS HEATER:

* It heats effectively. I don't know how it would do in a huge room, but it heats my small living room quickly and effectively, even on low. It's 49 degrees outside tonight, cold and windy, but toasty (over 74 degrees) in my living room. I'm sitting on my couch in the buff typing this. (The heater's been on for three hours, on low.) I'm getting spoiled by the very pleasant warmth the heater produces.

* The fan distributes the heat well.

* It's lightweight and easy to move around.

* It has a safety feature designed to turn it off it it tips over.

* An interesting feature is that you can set this heater to warm up the whole room, including the area behind it or just the 180 degrees in front. (When you set it for 360 degrees, the fan blows out of both the front and back).) Either way it heats the whole room in short order, especially a small room. Electric heaters really have improved over the years. Ceramic electric heaters in particular are nice for heating up a room quickly and evenly.

2) WHAT I DISLIKE ABOUT THIS HEATER:

* It's really not an attractive design, and I don't think most people would want it in their living space. It would look better in a shop or garage than in a nice living room.

* The box says it's a Honeywell heater, which is part of why I bought it, but in reality, it's made by a smaller company. When I called Honeywell trying to register the purchase and warranty, I was told that they had nothing to do with it, they had not manufactured it, they were just leasing their brand name to this company to use. They gave me the other company's number and hung up. They made it clear that Honeywell does NOT stand behind it and won't help if it has problems.

* It has thermostat and timer problems. Some of them are pretty bad, i.e.:

* When I set it on timer, sometimes it acts like it's on thermostat and starts turning on and off randomly (and loudly), every few seconds. (Other times it seems fine, and doesn't do this.)

* When I set it thermostat, it's supposed to stop when the room reaches the desired temperature, but it doesn't always do so; sometimes it keeps right on heating, so the room might get up to 80 degrees when I've set the thermostat for 71 degrees. So I'd be cautious about using it as a heater in a child's bedroom.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The 2011 version of this heater was recalled. If the date stamp on the metal prongs where you plug it in end in 11, do not use it, It's defective.

I bought this item from Amazon in October 2010. We live in Texas and did not need it for supplemental heating until late November 2010, which was after the Amazon return period. No problem with Amazon as they have always been a quality service, but it never occurred to me to check the heater before the return period was up. I went to the web address on the product sheet enclosed with the heater and was forwarded to a commercial selling store, NOT the Comfort Zone web site, so it appears it cannot be returned. Like the other review, the heater will come on when it is first turned on, in 2-3 minutes it will cut off, the temperature can be in the 50's but it will still cut off and not back on. It is obviously malfunctioning and I will take a 100% loss. I will never buy ANYTHING from Comfort Zone again.

When new this heater was great! However after 12 months or so it started to RUST! This product SHOULD be made with stainless steel or at least polished aluminum. Don't buy!

Honest reviews on Comfort Zone CZQTV8 Fan Forced Quartz Heater with Beveled Top

I purchased this heater from Family Dollar about a month ago to use in my work shop. The heater rarely sees anything other than hi with the thermostat all the way turned up. This week I went down to the shop and the heater wasn't on. The thermostat control was melted out of the top. There was also something heavy rolling around the inside. I opened the heater up and found that the tip over protection which is a round weight(what I was hearing rolling around) is attached to a plastic cam on the side of the thermostat. The plastic cam had melted off and the contact points on the thermostat were completely eroded and not making contact(most likely from arcing as the cam melted). I contacted Comfort Zone who said they would warranty it if I had the receipt. Of course shame on me I no longer have the receipt. Therefore I have bypassed the thermostat all together and now the heater is operational again although I only have "off, Hi, and low" settings. No thermostat control and no tip over protection. I would never use this heater in my house with this arrangement but in my shop sitting on a concrete floor I will continue to use this heater "as is" since it does heat quite well for my shop and I do not want to purchase another heater. Poor design in regards to the safety and thermostat mechanism. If I were to purchase another one I would insulate the area to protect it even though it's ridiculous to have to do that on a relatively new heater. After reading the other reviews this is what I suspect is happening on all of them. I would recommend this fix if yours has quit and if you are using the heater in a secure area, just be sure to use heavy enough gauge wire for the jumper. Also keep your receipt! Guess you get what you pay for....

I bought this heater about a month ago and it worked fine until last night. Like the other reviewers have stated, it just stops working. I can wait a few minutes and it will turn back on. However, when it kicks off it has a strange odor (hot plastic?). I will not buy Comfort Zone EVER again.

No bad. Solid construction. My main need, though, was to sit here in the basement and not go up to nuke my coffee in the microwave avery ten minutes to keep my sips warm. This promised to be able to keep warm from the USB connection. Not so -not enough juice there, I guess -at least from my laptop. In the car it was fine. And don't expect it to warm up your drink from a colder state. It will only maintain status quo.

Ok, so this product actually topped my list for my husband this year. When going for a product that is used everyday (for coffee and tea drinkers) this one takes it full swing. He loved its features and its geek appeal. It is very nice quality and the red strip around it is actually quite comfortable and slip proof. Nice. The plugs work just as advertised, and it keeps coffee warm in the car (and desk) on winter days..

The only downside we saw to the mug was the lid is push on vs screw on, so there is the possibility it could spill or leak if knocked over that being said, we have been using it for about a month now, no spills.

Overall a great product. Great quality mug. Great features.

My wife and I each bought one of these and they both stopped working within 3 weeks.

Honest reviews on Dual USB & 12V Heated Mug - BLUE

This is one of those products that will be can be rated anywhere from 1 to 5 depending on your needs. Assuming this product doesn't break, it will serve it's purpose for me. The USB DOES NOT keep coffee piping hot for an extended period of time, but when there is piping hot coffee going in, I can enjoy it for about the next hour. By the end of that hour it not hot as originally was, but still hot enough to be called hot. My cup of coffee is normally gone after an hour anyway. The heating mechanism basically serves the purpose of slowing down the natural heat loss from the cup of java. I hate the microwave, so I was looking for an at work solution to this age old dilema. I brought one of those insertable coils that broke on the first cup, so I'm hoping this doesn't break. So there is basically a progressive decrease in temperature over an hour or two, but 45 minutes later, I was still satisfied with a "relatively" warm-hot cup of coffee. If you need it piping hot as the initial minute or two, you might be disappointed. But I really hate when my coffee gets lukewarm, and I only need the heat for and hour or less, and until scientists invent a better solution, this will have to do. Oh, and I don't think this cup will turn likewarm coffee to hot or even nice and warm. Good looking cup though............

Not only does this mug keep drinks warm for quite some time on its own, but it reheats drinks that have gone cold. Ten minutes down the road with the charger plugged in, and your coffee/latte/tea is hot again -almost too hot, so be careful! Also, this mug fits in my VERY narrow cup holder without demanding that I wrestle it free to drink. I'd say 5 stars, except the charger imbued the packaged mug with a yucky petroleum smell that took some work to get out of the mug and lid (and is still there on the charger, but how do I wash that??).

The a/c works fantastic; haven't needed the heat yet, since it's triple digit weather here in Texas. The only drawback was the instructions. Said it would take an hour to install but it took my husband and I all day. Maybe it was our fault, since we are not technicians, but the instructions were hard to follow. However we are comfortable in our 1925 home thanks to this product.

I originally bought this heater to replace an old style on and off heater which failed after about 15 years.

This heater was much better at regulating the temperature than the old one. It keeps the bed the same temperature.

That is, until it failed. I bought it less than 8 months ago, and it can no longer heat the bed over 80 degrees.

Having the heater for your waterbed fail is a huge inconvenience. I'd rather have a heater which causes the bed to have wider temperature swings, but is reliable vs a heater with tighter temp control which needs to be replaced more often.

I have a furnace heat register under my desk that always starts with cooler air before the warm comes out. When the furnace isn't running, my feet get cold and uncomfortable. This was the perfect size for me to use under my desk to keep that space warm (and it radiates up to my hands as well since it really gets my general work area warm.

This is not a huge direct heat product. I've used a heat dish which could almost give you sunburn. This is perfect for getting the chill out of the air without using up a lot of energy. I calculated it to cost about 26 cents a day if you run it for 10 hours (which I don't).

It does have a shut off if it gets too hot (according to the directions) but it looses a star for not having a shut off if it tips over. I don't want to test it out but if it gets knocked over with the heat face down, I'd be afraid of something burning before it could shut off.

Overall, a great little solution for any cold spot.

Review of Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual Voltage 120V/240V 0.7L
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
My main reason for ordering the Hot Pot is that it is made from stainless steel and I am reluctant to boil water in one of the competing plastic pots since I fear the chemical leaching potential of electric plastic kettles. I wanted to add this review to the ones already listed to add some further information. On reading the earlier reviews, I could not get the answer to how fast the tea kettle will bring water to a boil. One review said that it is slower when set on the 120 volt mode for the US and that is where I will be using it primarily. I use it to boil water for my French Press coffee pot mostly which requires 16 ounces of water to make a full pot (19 ounce french press). 16 ounces of water boils in 3 minutes here at 3000 feet altitude while the full pot (to the "MAX" mark inside the pot) boils in just about 4 minutes. Then the pot clicks off, the light on the handle goes out and water has come to a full rolling boil. By contrast, my 1200 Watt microwave takes about 5 minutes to bring 16 ounces to a boil in a Pyrex measuring pitcher. My Kill-a-Watt meter says the unit is 930 watts and draws 7.74 Amps at my line voltage of 119 volts so it is cheaper and faster to use.

Other Pros: the fit and finish is really nice, brushed stainless on the inside and a mirror finish outside. The lid is plastic but snaps securely into place registering with the handle to prevent rotation and has a comfortable molded slot for your fingers to fit securely when removing the lid. There is a reset button on the handle so you can immediately use it again after boiling a pot by refilling with cold water and pressing the reset. The base is also plastic and remains cool when in use.

I like this unit and will probably be using it nearly daily so will report on durability later.

I've been using this kettle in Afghanistan for over three months now sharing it in a tent with seven other guys and also one of our female Soldiers who knocks on the door asking for hot water. It's used A LOT and keeps boiling HOT water. The size is handy, not too big. It's done everything I've wanted and looks like it's going to last the entire deployment.

Best Deals for Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

I scoured the internet for days looking for a small, streamlined, non-clunky, non-plastic hot pot that held a quart or less of water for my daughter's desk at work. The hardest part was the non-clunky, non-plastic part! This little number is great! It heats water to a rolling boil in less than 3 minutes and then shuts off automatically and can only be restarted by pushing the reset button...so no accidental boiling dry or overheating. The outside of the pot does get hot!...but that's what being metal is all about. It's no worse than a percolator type coffee pot and is much like a small, streamlined percolator but with no basket or clunky dangling things to get in the way or snag on things or get lost. It's simply a nice little pot with a lid.

The only drawback I can foresee is that the cord is permanently wired into the base of the pot...no way to replace the cord, as you can do with an electric percolator by just going to the hardware store and getting a replacement. This is probably due to the dual voltage option for overseas travel; an option my daughter doesn't currently use but may come in handy in the future.

You have to follow directions and make sure the little voltage option screw on the bottom is turned the right way (perhaps that caused the fire problem on the negative review??). This came pre-set for us in America.

Very pleased with the product and its performance and the price is worth it when you consider it cannot be found anywhere else. I am thinking of getting one for the home, too.

Honest reviews on Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

I purchased this water kettle last January shortly after arriving in Afghanistan. It was originally intended for personal use to boil water for coffee and Raman Noodles during my one-year deployment. However, it quickly became a community item serving our entire team of 30+ people. It is constantly in use, and has probably boiled 2-3 gallons of water per day for 11 months. Remarkably, it is still going strong, shows very little wear, and has no signs of corrosion or discoloration despite the very high usage and less-than-ideal war-zone environment. We use it on 220V, and it takes about 3 minutes to boil water from the full-mark ... over and over again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

After years of lugging around my trusty and much loved Sanyo dual voltage travel cooker and/or my Zelco travel coffee maker for hot water, I decided to go back to basics and just get a travel kettle. After doing some research, I decided that I really didn't want to deal with a clunky British plug (although that's where most of the good travel kettles are from) and was left with this Narita, the Bonavita, Austin House and Severin that had N. American plugs. The first two are stainless and the last 2 are plastic and possibly a few ounces lighter. [The Bonavita is the only one out of the four listed above that is not dual voltage and so not only needs a plug adapter, but also needs a voltage converter for international use].

As I had recently a bad experience with a travel kettle where the silicone ring holding the plastic body to the heating element melted and almost resulted in both electrocuting me and almost causing a minor fire in the bathroom of a Hyatt, I decided to go with one of the stainless models above.

Pros:

+ The body of the kettle that contains the water is one piece stainless steel.

+ The kettle is as close to a pan on a hot plate as you get. = No way to spill a significant amount of water on the electronics.

+ Easy to clean and wipe out.

+ Boils water in 3-mins 45 seconds to 4-mins. 110V

+ Auto-off function works.

+ The dual voltage indicator is easy to see, understand and use.

+ A small coin can be used to change voltage

+ This kettle does let you "long boil" water to sterilize it for consumption in areas that do not have safe water. The water needs to be boiled without the lid on and not more than half the maximum volume or the water will splash out during an extended rolling boil. Note: the lids has to be completely off the pot for this.

Cons:

No hardwater screen filter near the pour spout that plastic kettles have

No screen = a dew drops of water does spit out during the last few seconds of boiling.

Lid handle is very shallow and hard to pull off without burning the back of your fingers. Would have liked a better lid handle.

Indicator light is hard to see.

The kettle does seem a tiny bit larger than your average travel kettle.

Stainless body makes this kettle heavier than your regular travel kettle

Kettle cannot be used to sterilize more than 350ml of water because water splashes out during an extended rolling boil.

Note:

* This kettle weighs 1-lb 5-oz on my analog baking scale.

* This kettle seems to have a sensitive thermostat. I was unable to boil a second kettle of water immediately after the first kettle of water. However, I had to wait even longer after the second kettle to boil a third kettle of water. The button wouldn't even respond when the kettle was too warm. Although this is a good safety feature, and is not too inconvenient if you're just making tea or coffee for one. For a family or someone who plans on boiling a larger volume of water to prepare meals, I would just recommend using a regular kettle and buying a voltage converter plus plug adapter.

* At first I thought that the kettle I received was defective when it wouldn't turn back on, but then realized that it might have an overly sensitive thermostat as is common with travel appliances.

* This kettle has a grounded plug and any plug adapter that is bought needs to be able to take a grounded N. American three-prong plug.

I purchased the Gran Maestria on April 20th and the first one would not work... I received a loaner (the Pixie) after waiting a week and received another Gran Maestria in about 3 weeks... it worked but had several unaccepted scratches on it and I sent it back for another one. I was told that it was at the discretion of the company to send me a refurbished unit. I received another unscratched unit and had it for 3 days and the unit made a loud pop and smoke came out of it and now it does not work. I have purchased over a hundred dollars in coffee and will try this experiment one more time before asking for my money back... the service people were very nice and apologized for my inconvenience but I want a machine that works...

I like the Nespresso System you have to join the "club" and the coffee is not the cheapest but it is great quality and the customer service is outstanding. I have had a couple of sleeves of coffee capsules come bent Nespresso exchanged them for free and had them to my door the next day.

The machine itself is great. It is made aluminum much higher quality that the more plastic Nespresso models. I like the fact hat you can easily change the volume of hot water going into your shot on the fly with other machines you can program to a volume, but that is about it. Having the frother right there is nice, the cup warmer is a bit of a gimmick but impresses friends and family. The machine is made in Switzerland and the fit and finish are first class. It is rock solid and after using it every day for the last 4 months I have yet to have any issues.

Overall you get what you pay for and this is a nice, no mess, quality machine. Just know what you are getting into with the Nespresso coffee universe...

Best Deals for Nespresso C520 Gran Maestria Espresso Maker, Titanium

I'm back from a recent trip to Italy where I drank cappuccinos nearly all day long. I have a Starbucks Barista, but it takes too long to make cappuccinos and clean up. The Nespresso machines make nice drinks that are quick and easy.

I read a lot about the Maestria (and other Nespresso machines) being DOA. Well, mine was too. It made all the right noises, just didn't pump water. I figured the pump wasn't primed so I ran the descaling procedure a couple times and pumped a lot of water through the cup heater. Then I put it on the regular, espresso-making cycle and hit the luongo button several times. Each time the pump sounded a little different until finally the water made it out of the nozzle. So if your Maestria makes a pump sound but doesn't pump water, don't get upset, just be a little patient and do what I did.

It takes only 30 seconds for the machine to come up to temperature (lights on front stop blinking) after the power is turned on. That's how long it takes me to get a cup ready. After that, you can make espressos one after another without delay. This machine would work well for entertaining a lot of people. The temperature of the espressos and cappiccinos it makes is good. If you want a really, really hot temperature you might be disappointed. Yesterday I want to a Nespresso outlet in Costa Mesa California. The espresso I had there was much hotter (too hot in my opinion). The people working said the machines are used constantly and are hotter than normal home use.

The cup heater on the left side of the machine shoots a stream of hot water inside an inverted cup. The water drains into the drip tray. It has limited usefulness since it only works on very small cups. It's OK for espresso cups, but won't work with most cappuccino cups. The problem is that 3 switches on the Nespresso need to be pressed at the same time by the rim of the cup. But only the smallest diameter cups will press the switches. If the cup diameter is more than about 2.25 inches, it won't press all 3 switches. I've been warming my cups by filling them with a luongo shot of hot water. That way both the cup and the machine gets pre heated and primed. I wish they would have left off the cup warmer and made the footprint smaller.

The Aeroccino 4 froths the milk really well. You fill the cup up to the "Max" mark (which is a little difficult to see in poor light) and press the "on" button. There are 4 settings, cold frothed milk, warm milk, warm milk with loose froth (perfect for lattes), and warm milk with dense froth (perfect for cappuccinos). There is a circular wire wisk inside the Aeroccino 4 that sticks to the bottom on a small post by a magnet. It's really easy to remove and install. The wisk is spun quickly with a magnet under the cup. The milk doesn't burn since the inside of the cup has a non-stick coating. It's really easy to clean too. It's dishwasher safe, but it's just as easy to wipe out with a sponge. Advantages the Aeroccino 4 has over a steam wand are: 1. you can make cold frothed mild for cold drinks, 2. it is much quieter. Advantages of the steam wand are: 1. you can make much more frothed milk if you are making many drinks at once (the Aeroccino 4 is only good for about 2 drinks per batch), 2. you can make frothed milk much hotter).

The Aeroccino 4 is really quick and nearly silent too. It takes only about 90 seconds to make enough frothed milk for one or two lattes or cappuccinos. I found the temperature to be fine, but if you want really hot drinks you might be disappointed.

I really wanted to get the Maestria (not Gran), but I found a new Gran Maestria in Titanium color (a medium gray color) from a liquidator for half price. It was probably a return or store model. The box was a bit thrashed, but all the parts were present and accounted for.

I was surprised how small the unit looked on my kitchen counter. It's low enough to fit easily under my wall cabinets (which are 18.5 inches high) even with enough room to lift the capsule lever. He lever requires about 17.5 inches to open fully. The footprint is a bit big, so measure first if you're space limited. The footprint of the Maestria would be much smaller.

The construction and build quality is extremely nice. Most of the machine is cast aluminum with a nice paint job. The rocker-type power switch on the back and the two dials on the front have a silky smooth feel and look great. The grates that the cup rests on are chrome plated steel, not plastic like most. The machine rests on 3 small, rubber feet. When the pump is on, there is some noise, but not overly loud or obnoxious and the machine does not vibrate or walk around on the counter.

The two knobs on the front of the machine control the volume of each shot. The one on the left goes from 0.8oz 2oz and the one of the right from 2.35oz 5oz. I was skeptical how accurate these were, and I had read that the shot size wasn't consistent. So I tested the accuracy and consistency. After a lot of testingI found the shot sizes to be extremely consistent (within 1ml, or 0.03oz), and the volume was within 10% of the volumes stated on the Nespresso operator's manual for each setting.

The water tank is large enough that you don't have to fill it often. I suspect the Maestria with the steam wand uses more water. The tank is easy to remove and install. The used capsule holder and drip tray are also nicely sized for daily use without the need for constant emptying.

It looks like there is a cable routing feature to shorten the length of the power cable, but I can't figure out how it works. The cable is too thick to route around the tortuous path. So I coiled the cable up behind the machine and used cable ties.

Overall a really nice machine. I hope that helps.

Honest reviews on Nespresso C520 Gran Maestria Espresso Maker, Titanium

I purchased this for my wife's birthday. She looks just like the woman on the Nespresso commercial, right...

The delivery from Amazon was fantastic, as usual, with Prime...

She unpacked the box, read the instructions, then filled the water reservoir. Unfortunately, when she tried to do the initial pump prime, nothing happened. She called the Nespresso help line. They were very helpful, but to make a long story short, her new machine is being shipped back to their repair center for repair.

We're both disappointed. Nespresso can redeem themselves with a quick turnaround, but if she has to wait weeks for a functioning machine... Well, we'll see.

I'm happy to report that we received the packing crate for the product return the next day. Packing the machine was easy. We dropped the package at the UPS store down the street that afternoon. The repaired machine was back at our home within 3 business days in perfect working condition.

The quality of the coffees that we've made have been excellent and have exceeded our expectations. I changed my rating to 4 stars, not 5, reflecting our initial DOA experience.

This product LOOKS GREAT in my house but the heat is just OK... Nothing spectacular... It's in my living room and I don't feel a huge difference in temperature when it's on. Overall I'm happy with the purchase but the company sent me the incorrect bottom piece. I haven't taken the time out yet to contact them about getting the correct bottom piece.

First off, I am a firm believer that a fireplace should, you know, have real fire in it. I was very hesitant about getting an electric fireplace because some of them are so cheesy looking. After shopping around, my husband and I weren't able to find a gas fireplace that we liked, and we weren't sold on gel, so we decided to try out the electric. I'm so glad that we did. The fireplace is absolutely lovely! It is very heavy duty and well made. It is veneered, but you wouldn't know it. We had to really look to actually determine that it wasn't solid wood. It is a bit of work to put together, but if you have a power drill it is much easier. The flames and logs are controlled independently so you can make them brighter or dimmer. On the lowest 3 settings the flames are very convincing, to the point that people have asked if it is a gas or electric fireplace. You can also run it with or without heat, which is very nice. It also comes with a handy little remote. We have a small living room (11 x 15) and use the fireplace to supplement our forced air heat. It makes the room very cozy and warm. The shelving on the sides is very handy, we were able to retrofit it to house our electronics. Everyone who has seen it loves it and so do we! The only thing that I didn't like was the obnoxious warning sticker on the front glass. It peels off easily but leaves a lot of sticky residue. It came off after some scrubbing and doesn't change my opinion about the quality of the product.

This fireplace heats my 24 X 24 office perfectly and looks so beautiful and creates a cozy yet professional environment. My 47 inch flat TV sits on top which was the primary reason for this unit! Winters are tough in Chicago and rather than turning up the heat in the whole house, I can tourn on the fireplace and I am warm and cozy in my at-home professional office! the price was compatible with producs at Lowes, Home Depot and Mernards but this is much better looking and a fair price!

Merry Christmas to me!!

The product looks good when assembled, and assembly is not difficult, instructions are pretty good considering it comes from China. We had some problems, however, first with the delivery, when one of the delivery men (it comes via a trucking company, as it is too big for UPS or Fedex) dropped the box containing the fireplace unit in our driveway because he was in such a hurry that he tried to carry our paperwork in one hand and the box in his other hand-didn't work! Luckily, the packing was strong enough that there was no damage to the unit. Then, when opening the fireplace mantel box, we found three damaged pieces inside-surprisingly they were in the center of the carton, presumably well-protected from shipping damage. Who knows? Maybe they were packed in damaged condition at the factory in China. Anyway, a phone call to SEI in Texas had the required replacement parts on their way, and they arrived 8 calendar days later via UPS. Customer service was good, but I was still frustrated by having to wait the extra week to continue the assembly, as I had already assembled the bookcases. I think this item is a decent value compared to the prices I've seen in stores or online. However, I also believe all electric fireplaces like this are very overpriced considering what you actually get. We hope it will last for a good long time, but we'll have to wait and see on that.
