I got it in my head that I needed a pair of these for an outdoor party. I had seen a similar heater at a local restaurant, but that brand was 1600.00 per copy. I shopped the local patio and hardware stores and found, for 680.00 ea., units similar to these with the difference being that they came with wheels and a cover. I figured for the price I could do without and ordered two of these, plus I wanted them in black, which was not an option elsewhere.

Amazon covered the shipping on these beasts, and they took only a week to get across the country. The boxes were both really beat upthe ups guy apologized and asked if i wanted to refuse shipment. Knowing there was a big glass tube inside I was taking a chance, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the packing jobeverything was fine inside. Assembly was straightforward and a screwdriver was included. All of the screws are identical so there can be no confusion therenice!

The heaters perform as expected. After assembly it took about thirty seconds to get the propane up to the pilot ignitor and after that the standing pilot worked fine. They put out a nice warm light and the grills wont get hot enough to burn curious fingers so you don't have to worry about your kids being burned.

These are NOT killer heaters like the big umbrella models so don't expect to run them at low settings and stay warm. Figure a twelve foot diameter footprint of moderate warmth.

They are beautiful when lit or not and easily moved after removing the propane tank.

Update-

I saw similar units at Costco today for 199.00. The build quality isn't nearly a good as these. The uprights are in three sections instead of two and the fit of the parts is sloppy. The finish on the panels and grills is also noticeably poorer. Weird chimney at top too.

Bought one of these at the local Orchard Supply Hardware store. Assembly was very easy.

We lit it and it looked fabulous. The problem is, it didn't do a very good job as a HEATER. If you stand really close to it you can feel it. We ran it on the highest setting for 30 minutes and it never got much better. Too bad, because I really liked the look of the thing. Perhaps if they put some baffles inside the tube to slow down the heat just shooting up and out the stack, it would work better.

Wait a bit and see it they improve it.

We got this heater thinking it would be a pretty to look at heater. It is pretty to look at, and works as promised. I put it together myself in a couple of hours, and the instructions were good. But its pretty design keeps it from providing a feeling of heat farther than 1 foot from the unit, with most of the heat going out the top.

We also just couldn't shake the feeling of waste as we watched the propane burning off as it rose up the center glass tube, reminding us of oil refinery flares. We sent it back.

Directions aren't very detailed but it isn't too difficult to figure out. Make sure to have the base portion pointing the right direction at the very beginning or you will be disappointed when you try to fit the front cover at the end. I am sitting less than a foot away from the heater with it on full blast and I can barely feel it.

Looks so great. The flames dance in the cylinder. Gives off a nice warm feeling. Good price. We also use it for a gentle light at night outside for our hot tub.

I dont have central heat and air for years now. I been looking for sometime a good strong heater that works on a 220V shocket.

I finally saw this one and bought it.

Same size as your typical plug in Electric heaters. The chord to plug into the socket tho is the same as my 24,000 BTU a/c....it's a Big thick 10 gauge chord with a 30 am terminal.

Anyhow, of you have a 30 amp socket, your good to go.

This unit is is waaaaaaaaaaaay Hotter than ANY standard plug in heater. Those at BEST will give you 5,100 BTU, this unit gives you 16,000 BTU's. About as much as a kerosene heater.

Has your typical controls for a heater, on off, and a thermostat by numbers (1 to 6). I highly recommend this Heater for anyone ho has no central heat or you need heat in your garage or work shed, this is perfect.

Nice little heater. Works well keeping a vacant space warm through the winter. Note that this is a 208/230 volt unit so plan to have the proper circuit available. A little smaller than expected but it's still fine.

I bought this for my 20'x20' semi-insulated attached garage in Wisconsin. It cranks out some heat, but not enough to realistically heat that garage in the winter unless it runs ALL the time. Nicely built unit, VERY simple, basically a coil, fan, and thermostat. There is nothing else inside this thing. When I turned this unit on, and placed it next to my existing 120V 1500W fan heater ($10 type model), I had to check several times because I didn't even think the 1500w heater was turned on! This unit cranks out some heat for it's size. It's basically the size of two shoeboxes taped together, or maybe a pice of paper, it's very small. It helps in the garage, but I found that it is better used in my basement where it can make a bid difference in just a few minutes of use.

Remember you need a 30 amp 240 volt outlet for this. I used my dryer outlet, since I now have a gas dryer. I made up an extension cord that plugs into the existing dryer outlet, and has the 30 amp NEMA outlet on the other end. I got all the stuff at Home Depot, and the cord will be the most expensive part (you need 12 guage, 3 conductors total, no neutral needed).

All in allnot big enough for the garage, but works nice in the workshop. 4800 watts is a lot of power though so I expect a big electric bill :)

HEATER DOES A GOOD JOB HEATING, PACKAGING WAS MINIMAL ROTATING TEMP SWITCH WAS BENT BUT STILL WORKED.

NEEDS A FAN ONLY SELECTION OR A THERMAL SWITCH TO KEEP FAN GOING UNTIL HEAT COILS COOL OFF, GETS VERY HOT WHEN CYCLES OFF WONDER ABOUT ITS LONGIVITY.

Bought this unit as a construction site heater and it has fulfilled the purpose admirably. Compact, well engineered, quality built, powerful and reasonably priced. I plan on keeping this unit as a garage heater for those vehicle emergencies and, "Winter projects," that can't be put off till Spring. RW

I really like this portable heater. I left it on at night and it kept me warm.

I have dropped the heater a couple of times and it still worked pretty good. It blows the heat out quickly when you turn it on.

We love to seat by the fire but after we got an estimate for installing a gas fireplace, we had to look for other options. This gel fuel fireplace turned out to be a great alternative. We have had it for over a week now and here are the things I love about it:

It was very easy to install. It came with a metal bracket that you screw to the wall and then simply hang the fireplace on the bracket.

It is slim enough to be hanged by my dining room table so we can enjoy beautiful flames while dining

It does provide quite a bit of heat. We did not turn the thermostat down the first time we tried this fireplace and the room became noticeably warmer within an hour. We are hoping we can use it as a source heat next time we loose power in the middle of the cold season.

We used gel fuel by real flame and it produced nice orange fire with some light cracking sound. There was no smell while the fire was burning but we felt light alcohol smell when we left some unburned fuel in the fireplace. Next time we will not pour the entire bottle into the fireplace!

The flame is protected by the glass

On the days when I don't want the extra heat, i just put large tea lights on the fireplace shelf. The fireplace has stainless steel backing which gives beautiful reflection when burning candles and the flames are well protected behind the glass screen. I love this double duty!

Did I mention that the fireplace is beautiful and modern looking? :-)

The only con I can think of is the cost of the gel fuel. I wish there would be a cheaper alternative.

Please do not buy this product. Infrared heaters are falsely advertised as saving you money. They do not. I have averaged for the past five years an average electric bill of $200 to $250, consistently throughout the year. Once I plugged in my infrared heater (from heatalot.com) my electric bill for one month shot up to $591. I contacted the company, and on my second attempt, they answered and would not give me a refund. They did not stand behind their product and basically dismissed me. Do not waste your money find another way to heat your home.

This is a great product. I have one upstairs and was carrying it from upstairs to downstairs to keep me warm. It is such a good product. I have a big house and have no intention of warming the empty rooms so I use this Infrared heater and it works perfect. Great product!!!

Cheap Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother

Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
Here are the most important things I think prospective buyers should know:

1. The machine does not heat the milk to scalding temperatures. You know how when you get a latte at Starbucks, it burns your mouth at first? Yeah, this doesn't do that. The milk is warmed, but you won't have a hot drink for as long as you would at a coffee shop.

2. Size. This machine is meant to be paired with a single-serve coffee machine. It makes enough milk/foam for a single cappuccino or a single latte. That means 1.5 oz of espresso and 5 or 6 oz. of milk. If you want to make drinks for more than one person at a time, or if you want to make the equivalent of a "Venti" latte, you may need more than one of these or a different machine (Froth Au Lait).

3. Cleanup is EASY. This is one of the most important features, IMO. All you do is rinse it out, wipe the bottom with a sponge, rinse again, and you're done. You can clean it while your Nespresso machine is pouring your espresso shot. For making yourself a cappuccino in the morning, this thing can't be beat when it comes to simplicity, ease, and convenience. You do need to wipe the bottom (of the inside of the container), because as others have said, burned milk can appear on the bottom. This is easy to remove if you let the machine soak or just wipe it immediately.

4. Reliability is this machine's achilles heel. Thankfully, Nespresso has amazing customer service. However, the reliability issues seem to be inherent to the machine's design. When you look at the picture, you should realize that the black bottom is a plastic stand that the stainless container sits on. The bottom of the stainless container is plastic with a metal power jack in the middle that fits into the base. When you clean the unit, you remove it from the base and rinse the inside of the jug/container. You can run water into the stainless jug and rinse it out, but you are not supposed to get water on that bottom plastic area. This is difficult. When you wipe your countertop with a sponge, often streaks of water linger. If you place the container on the counter after it's been wiped, you may have an issue.

Final Thoughts:

My unit has just stopped frothing, and Nespresso says this is because the frothing whisk isn't moving fast enough. Their explanation is that some water may be in and around that plastic base. I've been advised to turn the jug over and let it sit for 48 hours to allow any moisture that may have made it inside to evaporate. If this doesn't work, they'll replace it. I'm not upset, as I read the many experiences already posted here and elsewhere. In fact, the time this malfunction occurred I was thinking to myself how lucky I was to have gotten a machine that works well. Obviously I was wrong, but I still really like this machine. Even if you know how to use a proper steam milk frother, you just can't get this kind of great foam in so little time with so little hassle and cleanup. However, if every few weeks I need to give it a 48 hour time out... I don't know how I'll feel. The Froth Au Lait machine, which I own, is fantastic, but much larger and more difficult to clean as you need a brush of some sort to clean the bottom. There seems no doubt that the Froth Au Lait FAL-W Frothing Unit, White machine is more reliable, but it is not as pretty on the countertop or as easy to clean for a single serving of coffee/espresso. Hence my 3 star review of the Aeroccino. Good machine with some serious flaws. If you have the appropriate expectations going in, and have the money to spend, this machine will make you happy, as long as Nespresso continues their great support.

Update: It appears my machine wasn't broken at all, though I can't explain what's going on. It seems either some kinds/quality of milk don't froth, or else different outlets in my kitchen are giving different amounts of power. I tested this by using my Froth Au Lait, which also only heated the milk without frothing it. Moving the machine to the outlet I had originally used it on, with fresh milk, fixed the issue. I suspect FRESH MILK might be the takeaway. When you get a week into a carton of milk, you might not be able to froth it, even if it seems fine for cereal. Hope this helps someone.

When Aeroccino works, it works great. It is quick and quiet, and produces excellent foam. Clean up is very easy. But, there is something inherently unstable about Aeroccino machines. Since August, I managed to kill three of them and I am not sure why. Part of it is the nature of the machine: because it is constructed like a water kettle, one should not submerge it into water. But because it is designed to heat milk, the manufacturer allows putting it under running water as long as the bottom of the machine remains dry. If you get the bottom wet (and you will), the machine either trips (and heals itself after fully drying) or dies. I suspect, my first two Aeroccinos died such deaths. My third one died today. I frothed milk with it, refilled it and tried again (without cleaning in between) and the machine did not work. I tried again and it worked for 20 seconds and stopped. I tried again a couple hours later and it worked for 10 seconds and stopped. I am not sure why it is so, but I suspect it has to do with the magnetic foaming brushes you must insert into the machine to make it work. If anyone has ideas why this is so, let me know.

On the positive side I keep calling the company and they keep sending me new machines. I really like Aeroccino when it works. But I suspect it will be the good old microwave when I finally run out of warranty.

I have owned several different espresso makers from krups to capresso to nespresso. I have also had a capresso frother which I had to return because it didn't work. While I have enjoyed the coffee, I have always been "frothingly" challengedexcept on the lower end krupsa fact I find mildly interesting. Anyway, this aeroccino is so simple as to make you wonder and the froth is perfect, as is the steamed milk. So far I have not run into the problems of it shorting out and neither has a friend who has also purchased one, but I am glad to know they will replace it. The greatest thing since sliced bread for the consumer who likes gadgets and is willing to pay for them

Honest reviews on Nespresso 3190US Aeroccino Automatic Milk Frother

It looks like we are not alone in our experience with this product. When we first got it we were infatuated with how clean, neat and easy it was. The design was elegant and the frothed milk was fabulous. Then, after about a week of regular use it just quit frothing the milk. Everything still functioned apparently, but no froth. Ever.

I read the manual and saw the year warranty. I figured, there's no way that anyone would warranty a product for a year that breaks so easily. We turned it in for a replacement, and brought the new one home, excited to have gotten rid of the fluke defective product. No such luck.

The replacement neatly and quietly whirs away, without producing any effect but warm, frothless milk.

Oh well.

Williams and Sonoma had better give me my money back.

AMMENDMENT:

Ok, so after significant frustration with this product we struck on a hypothesis. What if it was the change in milk that caused the lack of frothing and not a change in the device?

We switched back to the milk which we were using when the device worked (from a local dairy) and lo and behold! The device worked again just fine; we had delicious frothy milk. So we compared the two milks and the second milk (the one that didn't work) had a preservative in it (a salt of some kind) that was specifically designed to keep the milk fat from separating in hot liquids; in fact it said this right on the carton. After repeated testing our observation appears to be correct and since watching what milk we use, the frother has worked fabulously.

Barring further problems I am prepared to change my rating to four stars. I will keep this review up to date if anything of further note occurs.

I saw this at willamson-sonoma and thought would be nice to have in addition to my machine so I could do coffee while frothing and not have to switch over while the coffee cooled... fantastic quick easy and good. I rinse out the top and use a wet paper towel to clean to avoid getting the bottom wet. and simply let it dry on the rack to be sure. so good am getting one for my neice's anniversary. a bit pricy but worth the ease.

I have had the older models now for six years. Haven't missed a beat. I live in a small cabin and this is the only stove I have. I use it for everything I cook all my food from scratch. My Kuhn-Rikon pressure cooker works on it and the Zojirushi thermal pot cooker works also.

Don't shy away just because you don't want to buy All-Clad. Mine works with cast iron too.

Plus the Supentown website has some pans quite reasonable.

This induction cooker has some features that even high dollar stoves don't. I can cook "precisely" at a given temperature. No more scorching and it simmers like a dream. Although you might not think so at first the timer is a dream come true. Need to walk away for a little bit and something is almost through cooking? Set the timer -it'll turn off and if you need to you can finish when you come back.

Cleanup is wonderful. Just wipe it off with a washcloth and your done.

Plus if you live in a small place like mine it just takes up a square foot or so; or you like to cook outside in the summer unplug and take it outside.

Even if I could I would never buy a ponderous stove and oven again (I cook with a solar oven, my Nu-Wave or crock pots as ovens) this is super energy efficient and doesn't warm the house up need more cooking space once in awhile just buy another one. I like that when I am cooking a big meal for a Holiday than I can spread them out over the kitchen and don't have everything overlapping (or that big tamale steamer taking up two spaces) like on a big stove. Set the timers and nothing ever burns while cooking big family or Holiday meals.

I LOVE it. I hardly ever use my (electric) range. Anticipating that I'd be moving off the natural gas grid I bought this 2.5 yrs ago to see what life with Induction would be like. It's fabulous. Fast, responsive, accurate. I'm looking forward to remodeling my kitchen next year and adding a 30 inch all induction cooktop. I like a 36" cooktop, but with a portable like this one tucked away I can haul it out when I need the extra burner, and will be able to use my space more efficiently.

If you're curious about Induction, try one of the portables first. At worst, you've got a great extra station for a hot appetizer when you throw your next party.

Check out the Henkels Induction-ready cookware. One reason I balked at moving to Induction was that the cost of buying All-Clad adds a lot to the picture. But the Henkels is GREAT, well priced, comfortable to use, heavy. I hate giving up my clay pots that I use on the stove top, but all around, Induction is the best alternative to gas. At least I'll be able to keep using them in the oven.

Firstly, I received what is obviously an open box return or a refurb. The box was ripped almost in half, the plastic around unit ripped, it had fingerprints and grease marks on it as well as chips of the silver paint on the side and one chip in the cooking surface (but outside of the cooking area itself). Shame shame, Amazon. I didn't pay for a second.

I tried it out right away and it seemed to work OK. Fan is no louder than my previous. Although it is 1300 watts like my old one the cord is much thicker and therefore more inflexible. I don't have the great big "Induction" in the center of the circle thankfully! It is nice looking except for the chipped paint and all features I tried out so far seem to work. I did both temp and heat. Haven't tried timer yet. Agree the lock thing is a bit annoying as it doesn't work like you would expect but I can live with it. Plenty powerful for me. Again, it is the same wattage as my older unit but did seem more powerful, perhaps my old one has been slipping in its old age.

It has a lot of features for a small price and I think it will be okay though I am holding onto box (such that it is) and going to give it a thorough workout. I have had good luck on a few refurbs/open boxes in my time but I always knew what I was getting into at those times.

One bit of curiosity or hilarity depending on your point of view I wonder why I hadn't seen it mentioned in any other reviews. Mine comes complete with a "moth ball compartment" and according to the sticker it is recommending to keep a few moth balls in there to discourage vermin. Uh huh. LOL

Speaking of sticker, even the serial/model number sticker on bottom has been replaced all cock-eyed. Thinking refurb.

Honest reviews on Spt 1300-Watt Induction Cooktop, Silver

I love induction burners. If you're using a cast iron pan, they're faster, more responsive, and more efficient than regular electric burners. So I bought this one and two others to compare them. This model works fine, and 1300 watts is more than enough for every cooking job except boiling water, in which it's still adequate.

But this model has a weird "lock" feature. The idea is, if you hit the lock button, none of the settings can be changed without hitting the lock button again. I can't think of any practical use for this. As with any other burner, you can easily keep the settings the same by just not changing them! If you have unruly kids, or big cats walking across the countertop, they can unlock it as easily as you can.

This would be fine if you could just opt out of the lock feature and ignore it. But you can't! It locks every time you turn the power off. That means, every time you want to heat something up, you have to first hit the lock button on the left side of the panel, and then hit the on/off button on the right side of the panel. Maybe some people wouldn't mind this, but I find it unacceptable. I was tempted to open the thing up and try to disable the button or wire around it, but that would void the warranty, so I ate the shipping cost and sent it back to Amazon for a refund.

Got it in two days, fast shipping for sure. The stove is very sharp looking and I've cooked several items on it already. Bacon and eggs cooked in a cheap 9.00 walmart camp skillet 9inch, worked fantastic. This cooktop heats up instantly and is very controllable while you cook. You can change temp. settings as you cook, one button and fast. I bought a 5.00 wok at walmart too, it really works, so you don't have to spend a lot to use this induction stove. Some stainless steel pots I looked at arent magnetic, take a magnet with you shopping for cookware. Water boils much faster than any cooker I've ever seen. I make hot drinks in under two minutes.

The temp settings aren't exact, 190 hard boils, but once you are aware of settings you need it is easy to get a great meal very fast..

I especially like using the big wok for stir frying,, so fast and hotter than you can use, so watch out when starting out, it is so hot so fast you will tend to overdo, lower the settings as you cook so as not to burn things. I highly recomment this cooktop and the price is unbeatable. Good luck cooking. There are many settings, temp or wattage, I've found wattage is great for simmering rice on 100watt setting, higher will boil.I like the great variety of settings and a timer will shut it off whenever you want.
