The fireplace has a very elegant styling to it. It heats very well for a small size room. Would not recommend it trying to heat large rooms. But is a excellant fireplace for small rooms.

I purchased these heaters in October 2012 after one of my cats knocked over the Lasko heater and scorched the rug which could have caused a house fire! Luckily I woke up in time!

This heater makes very little noise (at least not enough to bother me, anyway) and it has a tip-over safety switch which makes it far safer for homes with pets, little kids, or clumsy big-footed adults. The one thing I would like to see added would be some sort of detachable filter that one could wash as we live in a very dusty area, but since it does not have this I find blowing them out with the leaf-blower (Outside, of course!) once a week does the trick. (You would be amazed at the amount of dog and cat hair that gets inside space heaters, even if you do vacuum and clean regularly, not to mention the dust!)

I find that they heat well. Unless it is way below freezing, I only have to use one heater for our large main living area, one in each bedroom, and that's it. Even with the cost of electricity it is much cheaper than running the propane furnace. One thing you have to make sure of is that the heater is on a flat surface; in other words if you put it on a sculpted carpet it may not turn on because of the safety switch. Just adjust it a bit and it will work fine.

They aren't very pretty, but I prefer safety and practicality to looks. When he first saw one of these heaters my husband said, "Hey, where did you get the bowling ball?" and tried to kick it. So they do look like a bowling ball from above but at least you can see them. The handle is built in so they are really easy to move out of your way when cleaning and everything but the front metal grate stays cool to the touch when the units are operating, which prevents above mentioned pets and rugrats from accidentally scorching something just brushing against it.

I find it difficult to read the settings from above but these heaters weigh next to nothing so it is no problem to pick them up to adjust the temperature or turn them off.

Overall, I would definitely recommend them to my friends (and have done so)and to anyone with pets, kids, elderly folks or the terminally clumsy.

Because we're serious about our coffee, we sold our old $100+ Cuisinart coffeemaker to be replaced with this much better designed and much easier to use coffee maker.

A motel room we stayed at had this model coffee maker. We used it twice a day for 10 days. The coffee was delicious and we found no minuses at all, so I bought one. We've been using it daily now for about three months.

The carafe is made of heavy duty glass and doesn't drip at all. The hole to pour water into is large and easy to get to. There are convenient and accurate water level windows on both sides of the unit. The controls are convenient, easy to understand, and easy to use. The basket is easily removed for cleaning, easy to position, and uses standard flat bottomed filters. The time and function displays are large and bright. All of these are comparative problem areas in the Cuisinart.

Programming works perfectly and is so simple to use we didn't need the manual. To set the time of day press the "Hours" button until it reaches the current hour and then the "Minutes" button. To set the "Auto on" time, press the "Program" button, and then set the start time the same way. Press the "Program" button again to go back to time of day. For auto start, press the "Auto on" button, which lights up. That's it.

In addition, the water enters the drip chamber in a shower rather than a stream, resulting in consistently smooth and uniform tasting coffee. I can't comment on the warming plate because we put what we don't drink immediately into a Thermos for all day use. The warming plate shuts itself off after two hours if you forget.

The negative reviews are a puzzle to me. We found none of the problems mentioned.

This is an addendum in mid Nov, 2007. The coffeemaker still makes perfect coffee and everything works like new. The only negative I'd add is that the warming plate is quite rusty, probably because I put a pot of tap water on it at night to have chlorine free water in the morning. Often the pot is damp. When we need to replace this coffeemaker, I'll paint the new warming plate with bar-b-cue paint before the first use, for rust protection.

This is an update, dated 11/20/07. The coffeemaker still works perfectly and still looks good. I sanded the rust off of the base plate, painted it with bar-b-cue paint, and as expected there is no more rust problem. I don't think the rust would occur for most people. I caused it by putting a wet pot on the plate overnight seven days a week.

I drink lots of coffee in lots of places. I've had the terrible plasticky coffee from the $10 drippers and very fine pressed coffee from the shops.

This is my third Black & Decker (more on that later) and continues to benefit from design upgrades and improvements. I found this dripper to be the top of the line inexpensive coffeemaker. Mine came with the resusable filter, but I find that using the disposable filters (for me) makes a slightly stronger and better coffee.

The program feature was a little counter-intuitive for me, but only took 30 seconds once informed to master. Wake up to my coffeemaker's aroma. Warning: The first time I tried to make coffee, the carafe didn't push the sticking, new drip basket arm in and I had a little overflow. Apparently, it was because the machine was new and it now works flawlessly. But you might want to make sure it drips properly the first time or two you use it.

I mentioned earlier that this is my third machine from this family. It's not Black & Decker's fault that I live in an area with extremely hard, unprocessed well water. All water processing appliances (like my water heater) get clogged up with time, even with proper maintenance. These machines have lasted better than the old, bottom line machines I started out with, and longer than a more expensive one I bought.

Since the trend seems to be the production and purchase of items that make phone calls, play mp3s, serve as calulators, take pictures, play movies and change the cat litter box, this coffeemaker may not impress some people. It just makes coffee. It uses normal coffee filters (the flat bottom type), brews the coffee and turns off the warming plate after two hours. It does not do anything else. I, personally LIKE that. After all, how many mp3 players does one need? What kind of tech-crazy person wants to make phone calls on their coffee maker? Who can talk before they have had their first cup of coffee in the first place?

If you are looking for a coffee maker that just makes coffee and does it rapidly and without any complicated instructions that must be followed (who can follow complicated instructions before their first cup of coffee, either?) then this would be a good choice. If you want to film a movie with your coffee maker, this is not the coffee maker for you.

Honest reviews on Black & Decker DCM2500B SmartBrew Coffeemaker

We have used this maker daily for about three years. The Good:

Timer, decent coffee (once you get the balance, keeps coffee hot, Pour and serve and reliable. The Bad: Steam leaks onto the burner which has rusted, takes more coffee than others on the market, overflows if you grind your coffee too fine or if basket is not aligned correctly. Overall we are happy with the coffee maker and it is still serving us well.

I agree with the reviewers who have said "what is the fuss about?". This is a GREAT coffee maker. I have had no problems at all so far and having owned several different brands previously, I would say this one is the best I've owned for being so inexpensive.

The automatic setting is really fantastic as you can set the maker to make coffee whenever you need it to. You don't have to use this feature and if you want to, you can make coffee in the pot even if you have it set on the automatic feature and the automatic settings won't be disturbed.

The coffee stays hot in the pot for a long time and doesn't get any of the overdone or burnt flavor that I've experienced with some other makers.

I haven't had a single problem with drips from the pot and think that it does a really fine job when you pour. I don't know what some people's problem is with this feature. I think maybe it says more about the sloppiness of those pouring than the design of the coffeemaker!

I can't say I've used the interrupt feature because this machine doesn't take long at all to brew a pot and I have not needed to interrupt it in order to grab a quick cup.

I honestly don't know what the negative reviewers were expecting. This is a fine machine that does the job and is a great value for all of its features. It also looks great in the black model and fits very nicely in my stainless kitchen.

I highly recommend this coffeemaker! I am so glad I ignored the negative reviews because this machine works great and was a bargain.

I have a very large garage. It's 13 feet high, 20'x40'. The heater uses quite a bit of fuel per hour, but only has to run for 20 minutes to warm the entire garage to a good working temp. And the garage stays warm for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after I shut it off. So, for an average of $3.00 to $5.00 per hour I can have my garage back. I could not even use my garage for about 4 months of the year due to extreme cold. Now I don't have any excuse to not get work done all year long. Fast delivery too!

This product uses the standard water bottles but, does not hold but a little over 16 oz. of water at a time. It says in the handbook that if you use 2 cups of water, it will take the machine 25 minutes to get the next 2 cups cold. It doesn't say that in the description on the item. Product does not have the piercing device that you turn the water bottle upside down on. So I'm not sure how the water is supposed to drain into the very small reservoir. If you have to remove the entire cap from the top of the water bottle, that is very dumb. I will stick with the cooler I have that sets on the floor taking up room.

Because of the needs of our small office I was determined to get a small water cooler/heater and this was the only model I could find.

The 3rd unit seems to be fine (I returned the other two because they were defective and either didn't heat or didn't cool the water.

Flush the unit well and run a little vinagar and water through it to get rid of the plastic taste.

The listing is in error it should read cooler holds standard 2 gallon, 3 gallon or 5 gallon bottle. (not 23 gallon) also the refridgeration does not last as long as a more expensive water cooler. But is is great to have a sealable pure water supply after it breaks down. I have a regular residential refridgerator that I just refill my portable bottles for cold water.

I filled my bed with hot water to a temperature of 88 degrees weeks ago. This underpowered piece of trash cannot raise the temperature above that. I am using an old quilt as a mattress pad. I have a blanket and nice comforter and I keep the bed made when I am not in it.

This looked like it was just what I wanted, but I failed to notice the LOW WATT description.

II am going to need to replace it with something that will keep me WARM when winter arrives.

Don't buy this unless you want a room temperature waterbed.

Seems like a great product and value. However, they made the shelves too close together. It does hold the smallest bottles of wine, but many "Standard" bottles (Dancing Bull, Rancho Zabbaco, etc) don't fit unless they are jammed in and then you can't get them back out without unloading the whole thing. Don't waste your time and get a model that is more versatile. As if insult to injury, the thermostat didn't work either but that was probably a fluke.

I bought this wine cooler after reading some good reviews. It was a complete waste of time and money, the wine cooler worked for about 4 hours and then this uncontrolled beeping noise would continueoulsy play. I unplugged the unit and tried resetting it but the noise was still there when I plugged it back in. I called the company and all they said was it might be the control board. How does a wine cooler die after 4 hours.

Best Deals for Sunpentown WC-1271 12-Bottle Thermo-Electric Slim Wine Cooler

My boyfriend bought this wine refrigerator for me as a birthday gift on a total whim. It was a fantastic, unexpected present and has so far worked perfectly for me. I've never owned a wine cooler previous to this one, but I do live in a smaller apartment, so it's compact size is exactly what I needed. As another review stated, the shelves are kind of close together preventing the BIGGER wine bottles from fitting side-by-side, however all standard wine bottles will fit. I tend to buy the larger bottles of Barefoot Moscato, in which case I simply remove one shelf for the time being. Personally, I'm not at the point where I've collected dozens of wines and will RARELY have more than 12 bottles at one time to fill this fridge anyway. All in all, it's a fantastic product that chills wines perfectly and fits just about anywhere. :)

Honest reviews on Sunpentown WC-1271 12-Bottle Thermo-Electric Slim Wine Cooler

We just received our wine cooler, but can't get the temperature to stay at the coolest setting. Any advice? It did not come with an instruction manual.

I had this wine cooler for about 6 months before the temperature control stopped working and would not go below 68 degrees. I thought maybe the room was too warm, so I refrigerated a few bottles to see if it would at least maintain the current temperature, but within a few hours, those bottles were warm as well.

I tried contacting Amazon, who pointed me in the direction of the manufacturer, who of course, did not bother responding.

I am very disappointed and do not recommend this product. I will never purchase from this manufacturer again.

I gave it 2 stars because it was relatively quiet and compact.

Cheap XtremePowerUS 4 in 1 Newspaper, Paper Log Briquette Maker

XtremePowerUS 4 in 1 Newspaper, Paper Log Briquette Maker
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

This item is a stout piece of equipment and will get the job done. It appears to be made in Germany--all the instructions were in German and id did not say "made in China" anywhere. I am good with German quality. The item works as advertised and will have a long service life. In the course of an hour I was able to press out 48 bricks from my pre-soaked paper mash. This is a must-have item for anyone seeking to reduce their dependence on the grid. Skip the single brick maker and knock out the job in record time.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Took me a little while to get my process down. Once I did a little research on how to prepare the paper properly, I have been making nice full bricks that are very compact. Key to the process is not to get in a rush. Soak the paper for several days. Someone also suggested that you can add tbsp of bleach to the water and it will help to break down the paper. Just added some to my next batch, so we'll see how it goes. Newspaper works the best and it binds together really well. If I have a lot of regular paper, then I add some newspaper to the batch to help it hold together. As for the burning don't know just yet as my first bricks are still drying. It takes a few weeks for them to fully dry, so you need a place to store them on a rack until they are dry. Comparing the size to a regular piece of wood, they should burn for 30-45 minutes.

UPDATE: All is going well with this. I have somewhere around 200 bricks so far in about 4 months. The product does work as described and I have gotten consistent results. You need to have a designated area to hold/house the materials though. I have about 6 buckets with lids that I load shredded paper into, then when they are full I add the water, let it break down, etc. and do them in a large batch. Also before I start, I have a paint stirrer for a 5 gallon bucket that fits in my drill. I churn up the paper with that to help break it up into smaller pieces. Tried doing it by hand, but it was tiring! Getting the paper broken up into smaller pieces helps it to compact better and you have a denser brick. You have to have a wire rack or somemthing similar to dry these. It does take several weeks for them to fully dry. During the summer months when there was no rain, I rolled my rack out into the sun and it reduced the drying time greatly. Storing them isn't a problem as they stack neatly but you still have to have a spot to put them! It is a bit messy also, so that is why I like to do a larger batch at once on the back deck then I can wash it down as you are going to have little bits of paper everywhere. I did have the opportunity to burn some since it was cool this spring and they did very well. Burned around 30-45 minutes with not a lot of ash left. I plan on using these along with wood, but hoping to cut my wood usage by at least half. I hope this gives some help to those of you who are "on the fence" on whether to buy or not. Works great and I am happy with it.

Best Deals for XtremePowerUS 4 in 1 Newspaper, Paper Log Briquette Maker

Overall it is a good "go green" product that serves its purpose. The instructions came in German which is not a huge deal since it is self explanatory to use. It does need a lot of pressure to squeeze out the paper. I nor the other woman I did this with at the office did it very well. A man came by to help us which solved the problem.

Our first paper bricks did not come out very well. They did not bond as anticipated. They were soaked over the weekend with a tab of bleach, as was seen on one of the Youtube video'sperhaps this was why. Living in Alaska, the temperatures are still low during March =) We have had it sitting on a heater for 5 days and is still wet. I think it will take 2-3 weeks to dry.

Originally we got this for a youth group to use, which is still possible. Going to try again this weekend, without bleach, to see if that changes anything.

The product was as expected.

Honest reviews on XtremePowerUS 4 in 1 Newspaper, Paper Log Briquette Maker

Process makes more of a mess than I thought. Bricks take longer to dry out than I thought. But this is exactly what they said it would be. I'm waiting to see what the burn time and ash production is.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for XtremePowerUS 4 in 1 Newspaper, Paper Log Briquette Maker

This device is pretty amazing! We have recycled mounds of paper into burnable fireplace logs, plus the drying process puts needed moisture in the air. It has held up quite well and the "logs" stay together well when the paper is soaked long enough. Very handy!

I have had the older models now for six years. Haven't missed a beat. I live in a small cabin and this is the only stove I have. I use it for everything I cook all my food from scratch. My Kuhn-Rikon pressure cooker works on it and the Zojirushi thermal pot cooker works also.

Don't shy away just because you don't want to buy All-Clad. Mine works with cast iron too.

Plus the Supentown website has some pans quite reasonable.

This induction cooker has some features that even high dollar stoves don't. I can cook "precisely" at a given temperature. No more scorching and it simmers like a dream. Although you might not think so at first the timer is a dream come true. Need to walk away for a little bit and something is almost through cooking? Set the timer -it'll turn off and if you need to you can finish when you come back.

Cleanup is wonderful. Just wipe it off with a washcloth and your done.

Plus if you live in a small place like mine it just takes up a square foot or so; or you like to cook outside in the summer unplug and take it outside.

Even if I could I would never buy a ponderous stove and oven again (I cook with a solar oven, my Nu-Wave or crock pots as ovens) this is super energy efficient and doesn't warm the house up need more cooking space once in awhile just buy another one. I like that when I am cooking a big meal for a Holiday than I can spread them out over the kitchen and don't have everything overlapping (or that big tamale steamer taking up two spaces) like on a big stove. Set the timers and nothing ever burns while cooking big family or Holiday meals.

I LOVE it. I hardly ever use my (electric) range. Anticipating that I'd be moving off the natural gas grid I bought this 2.5 yrs ago to see what life with Induction would be like. It's fabulous. Fast, responsive, accurate. I'm looking forward to remodeling my kitchen next year and adding a 30 inch all induction cooktop. I like a 36" cooktop, but with a portable like this one tucked away I can haul it out when I need the extra burner, and will be able to use my space more efficiently.

If you're curious about Induction, try one of the portables first. At worst, you've got a great extra station for a hot appetizer when you throw your next party.

Check out the Henkels Induction-ready cookware. One reason I balked at moving to Induction was that the cost of buying All-Clad adds a lot to the picture. But the Henkels is GREAT, well priced, comfortable to use, heavy. I hate giving up my clay pots that I use on the stove top, but all around, Induction is the best alternative to gas. At least I'll be able to keep using them in the oven.

Best Deals for Spt 1300-Watt Induction Cooktop, Silver

Firstly, I received what is obviously an open box return or a refurb. The box was ripped almost in half, the plastic around unit ripped, it had fingerprints and grease marks on it as well as chips of the silver paint on the side and one chip in the cooking surface (but outside of the cooking area itself). Shame shame, Amazon. I didn't pay for a second.

I tried it out right away and it seemed to work OK. Fan is no louder than my previous. Although it is 1300 watts like my old one the cord is much thicker and therefore more inflexible. I don't have the great big "Induction" in the center of the circle thankfully! It is nice looking except for the chipped paint and all features I tried out so far seem to work. I did both temp and heat. Haven't tried timer yet. Agree the lock thing is a bit annoying as it doesn't work like you would expect but I can live with it. Plenty powerful for me. Again, it is the same wattage as my older unit but did seem more powerful, perhaps my old one has been slipping in its old age.

It has a lot of features for a small price and I think it will be okay though I am holding onto box (such that it is) and going to give it a thorough workout. I have had good luck on a few refurbs/open boxes in my time but I always knew what I was getting into at those times.

One bit of curiosity or hilarity depending on your point of view I wonder why I hadn't seen it mentioned in any other reviews. Mine comes complete with a "moth ball compartment" and according to the sticker it is recommending to keep a few moth balls in there to discourage vermin. Uh huh. LOL

Speaking of sticker, even the serial/model number sticker on bottom has been replaced all cock-eyed. Thinking refurb.

Honest reviews on Spt 1300-Watt Induction Cooktop, Silver

I love induction burners. If you're using a cast iron pan, they're faster, more responsive, and more efficient than regular electric burners. So I bought this one and two others to compare them. This model works fine, and 1300 watts is more than enough for every cooking job except boiling water, in which it's still adequate.

But this model has a weird "lock" feature. The idea is, if you hit the lock button, none of the settings can be changed without hitting the lock button again. I can't think of any practical use for this. As with any other burner, you can easily keep the settings the same by just not changing them! If you have unruly kids, or big cats walking across the countertop, they can unlock it as easily as you can.

This would be fine if you could just opt out of the lock feature and ignore it. But you can't! It locks every time you turn the power off. That means, every time you want to heat something up, you have to first hit the lock button on the left side of the panel, and then hit the on/off button on the right side of the panel. Maybe some people wouldn't mind this, but I find it unacceptable. I was tempted to open the thing up and try to disable the button or wire around it, but that would void the warranty, so I ate the shipping cost and sent it back to Amazon for a refund.

Got it in two days, fast shipping for sure. The stove is very sharp looking and I've cooked several items on it already. Bacon and eggs cooked in a cheap 9.00 walmart camp skillet 9inch, worked fantastic. This cooktop heats up instantly and is very controllable while you cook. You can change temp. settings as you cook, one button and fast. I bought a 5.00 wok at walmart too, it really works, so you don't have to spend a lot to use this induction stove. Some stainless steel pots I looked at arent magnetic, take a magnet with you shopping for cookware. Water boils much faster than any cooker I've ever seen. I make hot drinks in under two minutes.

The temp settings aren't exact, 190 hard boils, but once you are aware of settings you need it is easy to get a great meal very fast..

I especially like using the big wok for stir frying,, so fast and hotter than you can use, so watch out when starting out, it is so hot so fast you will tend to overdo, lower the settings as you cook so as not to burn things. I highly recomment this cooktop and the price is unbeatable. Good luck cooking. There are many settings, temp or wattage, I've found wattage is great for simmering rice on 100watt setting, higher will boil.I like the great variety of settings and a timer will shut it off whenever you want.
