Hard to find a better direct-wire wall timer of this quality. HOWEVER, this is the third one I have purchased so be warned that they will eventual ware out. The timer will eventual stop counting down and get stuck, leaving your device always on. I have mine hooked to turn off a wall heater in the bathroom. It works well for that. NOTE: Even though it will eventual ware out, they usually last a few years before they do. So yes, they are worth the price. BE WARNED: If the start waring out replace immediately as they will get stuck in the ON position... Thus, 4 stars.

this works fine. I replaced two of them. also found them actually cheaper at the local Home Depot store. Both seem to work fine.

Works fine. Easy to install. Some reviews talk about not fitting wall plates. Designed for the plate supplied to fit over the existing plate so plate supplied is over sized for a reason.

I read the reviews before buying this product and one review said it made loud nose as dial turns.. and s/he is completly right. The noise it makes is pretty loud.. I would NOT recommend this for the bedroom if you are going to use it as some type of sleep timer b/c the noise will bother you. However, I have this installed on my storage room in the kitchen, so the noise is not an issue.

I wanted a timer to shut off lights in a master closet. I first tried an electronic version but I had interference with some other home automation devices so I resorted to this older spring-wound technology. Simple, works perfectly. This spring wound timer worked as advertised and would be perfect for bathroom fans as well.

I like this heater. The only problem I have with it is the cord isn't heavy enough. The cord gets very hot and has melted 2 plugs. I think it should be recalled as a fire hazard.

Pros:

-Very quiet. Most noise you will hear is a low hum.

-3 different modes. Low, High, and Fan. Nice to have the fan choice on warmer days.

-Heats very quickly. Heats a moderate sized room in about 20 minutes, and the automatic thermostat is a very nice addition for at night when sleeping.

Cons:

-Only thing I can think of is that I wish the fan was a little more powerful. I wouldn't recommend to use the fan feature as a fan replacement entirely.

Overall, it does it's job perfectly. Great for if you have a room in your house with a bad draft. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable space heater.

Bought this for my desk area at work after my last space heater quit on me. Wow, what a difference! I have to run this on low and it still raises the temp in the whole room two degrees. My co-workers love me!

Honest reviews on Lasko 675919 Stanley Pro-Ceramic Utility Heater, 12-Inch

Using in two car garage. Maintains Avery comfortable temp even when outside is teens twenties. Not much noise and moves a good amount of air. I would definitely recommend this heater and get another for myself. Good value.

17 degrees this morning, two car garage 60 degrees.

Follow up:

It's Late April and still very much like winter in Kansas. This heater hasn't missed a lick since it came out of the box. The electric bill is a little higher, but not as bad as I figured for constant running. Turned my garage into a usable area during the coldest of times. Love it.

Still a thumbs up from me.

At first, I loved this space heater. It was nice and warm.

There were only two small issues at the beginning. One is that the power light is on whenever it's plugged in, even if it's off, so it's rather useless as an indicator. The other is that the "adjustable angle" is a very small angle, maybe a 10 degree change in direction.

Then, one day, the heather stopped working. About 45 days after I bought it, so I can't return it to the store. I used the reset instructions that came with the heater. It worked for another 3 minutes or so. I had to reset it again. It worked for another 3 minutes or so. After having reset it 5 times just tonight alone, I've decided to throw it out and buy something else.

Got this space heater for my home office that receives poor heating normally, and after some really cold/unpleasant winter weather. As for the space heaters I've had before, the heat was very concentrated in one area and it had no safety. This one is way better and everything about it feels very nice&modern.

Somehow it distributes the heat really evenly throughout the room, so it feels like proper heat even though it's just a space heater. Also it works quicklyonly takes a few minutes and then everything is cozy, then when the thermostat detects it's warm enough it will stop heating the room and just maintain the temperature. So you don't have to stay near the space heater, it can go on any (safe) side of the room really

There was a couple times I accidentally nudged it or lifted it, the automatic shut-off happened and it was instant. So it is a lot safer than the other heaters i've used. There is also some kind of mechanism to automatic shutoff from overheating although it hasn't overheated for me as of yet. The shutoff button is in a convenient place at the top (no need to bend down or get on the floor) and it's a cool-looking touch panel along with the other controls.

Overall, best heater I've ever used.

Heater arrived with no way to turn it out...no knobs. Nothing which a knob might attach to. Absolutely worthless with zero quality control. Seller refused to remedy and referred me to manufacturer. Manufacturer convinced me to ship it back to them for replacement and and a month later, still no replacement. Between the cost of the heater and all the parts I had to buy to make it work (which ARE NOT the parts Amazon convinced me to buy), I'm out around $220. And still have a freezing cold cabin to contend with.

For some inexplicable reason, Amazon denied my claim and believed the Seller than the problem had been remedied stating "Tool Hardware Shop has closed your return request. The reason for the closure of your request is: Issued replacement without return" which is a blatant on both counts. I've been with Amazon for many many many years, but this had made me rethink my loyalty.

Save yourself the hassle and pick up a Mr. Heater and a local store.

I bought this little heater for a small building we converted to an art studio. the building is 12 by 24 and it has insulated walls and ceiling but not the floor. I was dubious about how well it would heat but it KICKS BUTT!! The temp outside has been in the teens and my little studio stays comfy on low. We keep it on low when I am not in it to keep it semi warm (Don;t want to ruin my materials), I bump it up to high for about an hours and eventually I am over warm and ready to turn it down again! Love it

The look of this product in picture is deceptive. I was expecting all the black grill work I saw in the picture. What I got was that little black thing lying on top of the grill work. I was looking for a grate, not an ember screen. The ember screen is working ok so far. My complaint is that the picture is deceptive. The picture should have only the product being sold.

Best Deals for Minuteman International FG6-18E Ember Screen for 18-Inch Grate

This is not a 24" screen, which was what I was looking for to fit my existing grate. It is 20" on the front and 18" across the back. so it doesn't fit all the way across my grate and has a 2" gap on each side. It has stiff bars welded onto both ends. I use 2 and spread them out. It keeps fires burning longer and hotter with a more clean burn, less ash and charred pieces to fall through and have to clean up. This screen would fit the grate shown in the photo much better than mine because the 24" measurement is taken across the bottom from foot to foot.

Honest reviews on Minuteman International FG6-18E Ember Screen for 18-Inch Grate

The image with the grate shows the full grate and can barely see the screen. When i was delivered i was surprised to get just the thin screen. However, the screen is doing it's job covering the area of my existing grate that as fractured away from years of use. It arrived ahead of the scheduled delivery date, too.

JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you've got money to burn.....just burn that to keep you warm!!! I purchased 4 of these heaters when I had my boiler go out mid winter of 2011. One never worked right out of the box. When I returned it to the store....they wouldn't take it back. So....out $65.00 right off the bat! One went out the first month....and One worked...on and off...for about 3 months then started burning and power wouldn't go on again. Packed the last one up to move to my rental house this winter and now that I need it....it won't stay on either and smells burned immediately. 4 heaters x $65.00ea ($260) in less than 10 months.....none left working!

I have had lasko tower heaters work for 10 years, that cost less. I also have small Lakewood $10.00 metal box heaters that have worked for years as well.....this COMFORT ZONE heater is JUNK!

I will NEVER purchase anything from Comfort Zone again!

OH....btw....go on google and just TRY to locate a customer support number or address for them!!!!

I purchased 3 of these heaters 2 months ago. I've only had to use them full time the past few weeks. All three have stopped working in the last week. One of them started putting out smoke before it quit working altogether. Only buy these if you don't need them to last very long, and if you'll be able to monitor them while they're on. They lasted just long enough to not be able to get a refund.

I bought this heater in the fall of 2010. It had a made on 8/2010 sticker on the bottom. It worked very well. Always kept the room nice a warm. However, in November 2011 I started noticing a burning smell. Then power button (not the on off button) stopped working. Then today it just stopped working all together. I noticed on the bottom a burn mark and hole. I looked around the area where it was sitting and sure enough my carpet has burn marks on it now. I took the bottom plate off to find that the coating around the small wire connecting to the power button had burned off and the wire disconnected. The wire was lying on the bottom of the unit, hence the burn mark. This is why you should never leave these space heaters on unattended. So in summary, it works great until the it starts to melt down!

Honest reviews on Comfort Zone CZ499R Oscillating Tower Heater with Remote Control

This heater shuts itself off after just a few minutes, which is probably a good thing, and smells like something is burning. This order permeates the room and makes one afraid to use again. I was going to put it in my daughter's room but won't now. Be very careful when purchasing this item -could be dangerous!

The cover is well made, uses quality material, and fits our Fire Sense Patio Heater perfectly. That's great.

What's not great is that the manufacturer included a rigid rod support for the zippered panel that wasn't fully threaded, meaning that I couldn't assemble it. I tried calling the phone # on the package (800-766-9633), but got a recorded message telling me to call another number before 6PM EST. It was just after 3 PM PST; lame. I then tried using the "Contact Us" form on their website , but got a "too long" message when I tried to submit even though I only wrote a few sentences. Double lame. So I submitted my parts query via email to the sales dept, which was the only direct email address listed on the site. Hopefully sales passes my email onto customer service.

This isn't Big Trama, but it is enough of a bother to knock off two stars.

UPDATE: I had an email from Fire Sense/Well Traveled Living waiting in my mailbox the next morning. They apologized for the faulty part and said they'd ship a new part out immediately. Indeed, I had it within the week. Thx guys! Add a star.

Best Deals for Fire Sense Full Length Outdoor Patio Heater Vinyl Cover

The cover was very hard to put on and take off, requiring two people. However, the worst problem is that when the cover is on, it crease something of a sail effect and the slightest wind will cause the heater to blow over, unless you have it tied down. This results in damaging the top of the heater.

The cover is thus basically worthless.

Honest reviews on Fire Sense Full Length Outdoor Patio Heater Vinyl Cover

If you went to the trouble of purchasing a patio heater, you might as well get a cover. We have all seen those rusted heaters sitting in someone's backyard. Why not spend a little and preserve your property?

It is easy to assemble. You will probably need a step ladder or a chair. The first couple of times you don it on the heater, you might find it to be a bit difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy. It fits like a glove.

This cover is of great quality and fits as if it was made for this heater. Somewhat difficult to get on due to the height of the heater but is worth the effort in the midwest to keep things from being exposed to the elements.

I bought four of these and am extremely happy with light performance. They are easy to install and give off great light (you do have to be able to run gas lines though). I did not open the light boxes till after I had them on site, out of country. Mistake on my part. Three of the preformed mantels were trashed out of the four, and one of the glass globes was broken. Since I planned on using the tie on mantels anyway, could care less about the preformed. I'm still going to buy a couple more of these lights.

Well, bought this to replace the original lamp in the 71 Shasta Compact I am rebuilding. The fit is almost identical to the original light in the trailer. The lamp housing is of good quality and the gas valve works nicely. Best of all, they are available!

Best Deals for Mr. Heater Base Camp Gas Light

We purchased the first of these gaslights for use in a remote cabin with no electrical service. For several years, we used wick-type oil lamps and enjoyed the pleasant yellow-band light. But oil lamps require adjustment, trimming, cleaning, and refilling. So about a fat year ago, we tried one of these propane gaslights. It was plumbed through the wall to an eighteen pound propane canister set in a small enclosure outside the cabin wall. A 1/4" copper tube connects to the lamp through the wall. The lamp lights easily and provides about the same light as a sixty watt electric bulb. The control is basically, ON-OFF, without much effective modulation. The rigid mantles seem to work and last as expected, tho' the manual suggests they are less bright than the traditional tie-on type. The color of the light is amber (similar to the oil lamps), and is bright enough to read small print from an adjacent chair. Propane use appears to be very economical as the original eighteen pound bottle is still in use, although it now serves three of these lights. We use the lamps for a couple of hours about two to three times a week. The lamps light and operate in very cold outside temperature (i.e. 10F)The gaslight produces a fair bit of "exhaust" heat so care must be taken to isolate anything flammable...and to provide fresh air ventilation. With three gaslights going, the Smart Bear cracks a couple windows to replace depleted oxygen, or plan to doze off sooner and longer than expected..

Honest reviews on Mr. Heater Base Camp Gas Light

Preformed mantles are fragile and always arrive broken. They do include a different nozzle that uses tie on mantles which is what I used and the tie on is included with the lamp. No biggy really, just tie one on and light it up. Would have been nice to use the preformed but not a deal breaker.

I bought two of these Dry Guy Boot Dryers and have been very happy with their performance. I play a lot of sports, and in the summer especially my shoes become drenched with sweat. Without a dryer it would take several days for my shoes to dry completely, and as a result I was always playing in wet stinky shoes -even though I was rotating 3 or 4 pairs (I play a lot!). Now after I get off the court I stick them on the Boot Dryer and after 3 6 hours they are usually totally dry, and ready for my next game. I can't imagine how I got by without a dryer before. I do have a few suggestions for changes that would make this a 5 star product. First, the timer has a max setting of around 3 hours. For damp shoes this is okay, but for soaked shoes, like mine usually get, 3 hours is not enough time, so I find myself having to reset the timer to get them completely dry. It is a bit of a hassle, especially at night when I am not awake to reset the timer. A simple on/off switch would be a great help. Or a moisture sensor of some kind. My second suggestion would be to make the unit a little bit bigger. I have size 13 shoes and it is hard to get two pairs onto the dryer in such a way that the heel part of the shoe is dried quickly. Otherwise, this is a great product and I usually have two of them going on any given day. I would certainly recommend it!

Update: 5 years later 2013 Everything I said before. DryGuy is still going strong. Kids are older now, but now after going in the snow they put their own boots and gloves on it. The waterproof gloves that you can't get the inside dry using the dryer, this also works well on those too. The dry guy is simply that appliance you never knew you needed. Awesome!

Feb 2008 Review:

I have two kids 5 & 7 in New England. After we had our January thaw I knew I needed to do something. Both my kids have two pairs of snow boots that are "mostly" water proof, except when it comes to total submersion in puddles. After a few days of thaw both sets of boots were wet. And since they are mostly water proof I couldn't dry them out overnight, and that was even after letting them sit on the radiator. The next step was to break out a hair dryer and that sort of worked except my Sons boots really stunk. Pew And that still didn't do it because I wasn't willing to put in the hour or so that I would have needed. My experience with water proof gloves and the dryer told me that wouldn't work either because the outside dries, but the fingers remain wet.

I looked at local sporting good stores and they had a few different kinds of boot dryers. One for campers that uses propane and another convection one. Overall junk.

I finally decided on the DryGuy because it had good reviews. The one I ordered from Amazon was the standard body though I was looking for the wide body, but to my pleasant surprise the wide body your millage may very.

Once I unpacked it I was surprised that it was so small. It looked about two times larger in the picture my mind had painted. I set it up and put it on top of the dryer next to the washing machine so it would be out of the way and have a close power cord. Then I waited for another thaw as my wife made fun of me for spending so much.

The thaw came except this time we never ran out of boots. I never had two wet at any one time. My son came in with boots that were literally dripping wet from the inside. A little over two hours later for excessively wet boots and they were dry again. This thing rocks!!! One morning before school I noticed that no one had dried the boots. I stuck them on the DryGuy and went about getting everyone ready. Right before school toasty dry boots. By the way, the stink is gone as well. I'm sure that was from never getting them dry enough or taking too long to dry them in the past.

My wife has also been convinced. She was skeptical, but has been very impressed. Two things have changed for us with the DryGuy.

1. We don't keep a drying rack anymore for gloves and mittens. Stick one pair of wet gloves on with a pair of boots. It works excellent on gloves.

2. We will only need to buy one pair of better quality boots next season, since we had to buy two just to have a spare. We will eventually pay for the DryGuy in boot and glove savings. Ditto with not needing three pairs of gloves.

I have not used other boot dryers, but I'm sure this is the Cadillac of boot dryers after using it. It has literally just become and appliance for us. Meaning we don't think about it or question how well it works. It simply works.

Best Deals for DryGuy Wide-Body Boot and Glove Dryer

I've used the DryGuy for about a month to dry my surfing booties that always seemed to smell like week old road kill. I first tried a shoe dryer that does not have a fan but works by convection and that seemed to create the perfect environment for stinky bacteria. So far, DryGuy has worked great though I can't find my booties by smell any more. One caveat though, the heater is not so strong that it will dry your booties quickly in a cold garage so it is much more effective if used indoors.

Honest reviews on DryGuy Wide-Body Boot and Glove Dryer

My husband and son took this DryGuy on a recent snowboarding trip, and both came home raving about it. Great for wet gloves OR for snowboarding boots. That's why I chose this model, in fact. Some dryers can only be used on boots. We wanted something that could dry both.

My only recommendation is that if you need it for more than 4 or 5 people, you probably want to get the DryGuy model that can dry more equipment at the same time to avoid switching them out constantly.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DryGuy Wide-Body Boot and Glove Dryer

We use the DryGuy Boot Dryer nearly every day. Although it is a little spendy it works great for drying boots, shoes, gloves and other things. It would be even better if it was a little heavier so that it wouldn't require careful balancing of heavy boots to prevent it from toppling over and if it had air vents further down on the drying posts for more thorough drying of items open at the top (like knee braces). And while most items dried just fine in three hours using the heat setting, it would be nice if it had an "on" setting for things needing a longer drying time (such as when drying thick items without heat).

I bought this hot pot, along with a 4-pack of Melitta Ready, Set Joe kits, for a road trip during which stopping for coffee, tea and hot chocolate was not an option. My executive summary of the product is that it works well (and, for those wondering about product longevity, still works even after multiple uses) and that it can boil water. We're very happy with it.

Read on to find out why I give the product 4 stars instead of 5.

The product description could do a better job of managing customer expectations. While this hot pot will boil water, it does take 35 minutes or so to bring a full 20 ounces of it to a boil. This isn't due to any defect in the product's design. It has everything to do with the fact that a car's 12-volt, direct current electrical system isn't made for high-wattage appliances. My minivan can supply up to 120W per outlet, i.e., up to 10A at 12VDC, which is not very much, and I assume this is fairly standard. In contrast, conventional hot pots draw 3-5 times as much power from household current, which is why they boil water faster.

Other than that, my few gripes about this hot pot are:

1. It comes with a mounting bracket, but no instructions that might give an inkling on how one might use it to attach the hot pot to anything on the inside of your vehicle. We ended up discarding the bracket and placing the hot pot on our center console, which is flat, as well as several other flat surfaces we created. But this requires somebody to watch the hot pot while the vehicle is in motion.

2. The lid and removable drinking cup sit on top of the pot, but don't snap or screw on. So this hot pot is NOT spillproof. See #1 above, and understand that if it tips over while it's in use, somebody might get hurt.

3. The exterior of the pot gets quite hot to the touch during use (although the handle stays nice and cool), so trying to hold it to prevent it from spilling is a bad idea.

4. The inside of the pot quickly builds up scaling from the minerals left behind when water evaporates. There's no way to reach in there with any kind of a brush to clean that out, and the interior surfaces would probably be damaged by such a brush anyway. I recommend filling the pot with white vinegar and soaking it for an hour or so after every trip to keep the scaling under control.

5. Despite what the product description says, don't even think of making soup, hot chocolate or any other prepared food in this hot pot. You will never be able to get the interior clean again if you do. Stick with instant drink and soup mixes, use a mug or bowl and pour the boiling water from the pot into your mug or bowl in order to make these foods.

6. There's no spout, and it's difficult to pour without spilling, so do be careful.

To help put the 20-ounce capacity into perspective:

1 standard mug holds about 10 ounces of liquid.

A typical travel mug holds 12-14 ounces.

A normal size disposable bowl holds 12 ounces.

A large size disposable bowl holds 20 ounces.

A normal size packet of hot chocolate requires 6 ounces of water and gives you about 8 ounces of hot chocolate.

As annoying as these shortcomings may sound, they're minor compared with the comfort and convenience of being able to have real, high-quality coffee (that's what the Ready, Set, Joe kits were for!), tea, cocoa and soup while traveling in places where service stations are few and far between or just nonexistent.

This unit works far better than the Max Burton version. The hardwired plug prevents the unit from shorting out. A cup of water almost boils in about 5 minutes. Would be nice if it were sealable like a thermos, and helpful if the measurements on the side were in cups as well as milliliters. about 250 milliliters to a cup. And like my Max Burton review, Nothing but water in these things. They say soups work in these things but even the protein in milk will burn on the heating elements. ONLY WATER! so instant add water drinks, oatmeal, ramen noodles, mashed potatoes.

I purchased this to use in an RV while boondocking. I have a solar system installed in my RV, and use a 12 volt system, so I needed something to boil water or to at least get water hot enough to make coffee. Well, this hot pot does the job! It definitely boils water with no problem. It takes a while if you have it to the full mark, but that's not a problem for me, as I'm just happy that it works and I don't have to use my propane stove and can now s ave money by using this 12 volt hot pot on power generated by the sun. Works perfect!

UPDATE: When it worked it worked great, but for some reason it stopped heating, but the light still works. I have since requested a replacement, and will return the defective one. I will update in a few months to let you guys know if the new one is still working.

UPDATE #2: I received the replacement unit, and it works fine, but I truly believe the first one stopped working because I left it on after it reached the boiling point, which I guess you need to unplug it at that point. I changed my 5 star rating to a 3 star because you have to really watch this pot or set a timer to make certain it doesn't overheat.

UPDATE #3: Its been 9 months since I've had the replacement unit, and it is still holding on. I heat it up until the boiling point and turn it off. I use the hot water for instant coffee, French press and the mellita drip cones, and all versions do fine with this Hot Pot. I love the fact I don't have to use my propane to heat up water over a stove. This pot has worked wonders for me, but as I had mentioned before.....just don't leave it plugged up too long and it will work wonders for you too. By the way, I noticed on the side of the hot pot is an "imprinted" messages that actually says to UNPLUG the cord as soon as it starts to boil, so that probably explains the failure of the first one. I will up my rating of this product to 4 stars, but now I just use a timer to keep track of the progress. This could be a 5 star product if it had an internal temperature control and wouldn't overheat.

Honest reviews on Roadpro 12V Hot Pot, 20 oz.

In preparation for a weeklong roadtrip with my son, I ordered this hotpot, planning to be able to warm up our coffee as we drove. Well there is a light that comes on when you plug in the pot, to let you know you have power, however the unit we received was defective. After about an hour of waiting for heat, I decided to see if it could be fixed. It is very easy to take apart. The leads for the heating element were loosely wrapped around the connectors, but not soldered. Having no tools with me in the car, I tried to reconnect the wires by hand, but could not get a good enough contact for it to heat. Final result: Cold coffee and 12v hotpot put in trash.

I ordered the Hot Pot and was worried it would only warm up. But it takes actually 5 minutes and the water is warm and within 10 minutes the water is cooking. I use the Hot Pot to make milkbottles for my baby while we are going by car. No asking for hot water anymore. It's working really great. The bottle is nicely isolated to not burn your hands and a small light is on while cooking so you are always aware it's plugged in. We use it for day trips and camping.
