As my wife and I are perfectionistic designers, sifting through the vast variety of the space heaters available on the market was some task. We finally decided on one which would provide a slow constant wamth versus the hot air bast-types such as heat fan elements, coil heaters, etc. resting on the idea of purchasing a radiated type. We read the reports on DeLonghi products in general which overall had been favorable. We made the decision to purchase the non-timer version of the TRH0715T, the TRH0715. Although slighlty less expensive, in hind sight I think we would've spent the extra money and got the timer version. We have still to recieve our electricity bill, but guess it much more economical than slappiing down $1,500 for heating oil. The two we purchased, heat our main floor nicely (1,300 sq. ft.), and is not too inconvient when moving heaters from room to room if/when necessary. The overall design is thoughtfully provided in the form of a stealth high-heat resistant plastic handle, 4 castor-roller type wheels, a cord wrap attachement, and aerodynamic heating fins. The heat is slow and constant and does not get "burning hot" like coil-element heaters (I still don't suggest touching it however). This was a good purchase and we feel very good about the price we paid. If you're looking for a non-avant garde designed heater which provides a good steady soft heat, this is the one!

This little heater works well! The snap-down wheels made it very easy to install (no assembly required). The thermostatic variable control works well (unlike some others I have tried). Some reviewers reported smelling an oil or paint smell when they first turned it on, however, I did not have that issue at all. Since I only obtained my heater at the end of this years heating season, I haven't yet fully tested the high heat setting, but on the low setting, it kept my 20 x 14 foot room quite comfortable this spring. It makes no noise that I have been able to tell, except a very slight click when the heater turns on at the thermostat setting.

I got this for our 3-year-old daughter's room as for some reason she does not seem to like the sound of a radiant heater. It does a decent job of boosting the heat level in the room, which she needs because she tends to kick off her blankets during the night. I wouldn't rely on this alone to heat a room unless it was a very small room. The top and back do get hot, although you'd have to keep your skin in contact with it for several seconds to actually get burned; bumping into it should not cause any burns. I haven't noticed any odors or noises from it.

We've had this for about a week. It does a great job of keeping my daughter's 12x12 foot room warm all night when on low setting (700 watts) and about half on the thermostat setting. We left it on full blast in the garage for three hours when we first got it, and it definitely gave off an oil smell. We moved it to the bedroom after that & no smell at all. It does get a little hot to touch, so not for use around small kids, nor can you put it against draperies or furniture.

Have owned a heater just like this one for over five years now. It will not burn you, or a child, but gets very warm. With a box fan running quietly on low next to it to keep air moving over it, can keep three rooms relatively warm all night in coastal NC with one of these. It will drop into the teens here sometimes at night.

Feel safe with this heater for it would be hard to accidentally start a fire with it. Just ordered another one for I am going to let my LP gas provider have their tank back as soon as I use most of the fuel in it. Then, purchase my own LP tank. It's cheaper to use this along with my heat pump instead of just the heat pump alone. With LP heat for backup, Stay cozy no matter how cold it gets or if the power grid should fail.

Update: Do not understand the negative reviews outlining so many problems. Received my second oil filled heater, tested it for many hours and found it to work fine just like the one I have been using for many years now. Have owned many types of electric heaters. Like these oil filled units the best. Do not mind leaving my home with one running but it is definitely best to turn all portable heaters off when unattended. It has an overload/high temp automatic safety shutoff for safety. Use a 15 amp power strip on them with a 15 amp circuit breaker for extra safety.

Feburary 13, 2010: Both of my electric oil filled heaters are working fine as usual. Have had no problems at all with either of them. It's currently snowing outside tonight. Am using nothing but my two oil filled electric heaters with fans running quietly next to them to keep my home cozyhave shorts on. Propane prices are currently right high around here. Have plenty of propane gas on hand if the power grid should fail. My older model heat pump is not all that energy efficient. Like these cozy and quiet little heaters. Got another electric bill today. It was much lower than I thought it would be using these heaters with the thermostat on them set at a reasonable level.

Have popped plenty of 15 amp fuses and tripped breakers with 1500 watt portable electric heaters over the years. Especially in my motorhome. You can use a long, heavy duty, 12 guage extension cord with it on a 20 amp circuitno problem. Don't use anything lighter than a short 14 guage cord. Personally, will not be using a 14 guage extension cord, of any length, with a load like this. Have spare fuses on hand unless you have circuit breakers or are using a 20 amp circuit. It's a pretty heavy load for a 15 amp circuit.

Dec. 7, 2010: Am again using my two trusty oil filled heaters with box fans quietly running on low next to them to keep my house warm. An Artic blast has hit early this year. It's cold outside. Have five smoke alarms in my home for safety. Am just wearing shorts as usual. One good thing about these heaters for me is that I can sit a stock pot, tea kettle or whatever on top of them in order to quickly get more moisture into the air. Just don't let any water spill onto the control unit side of the heater. Be forewarned that if you use a fan to increase the heat output and move more air through these heaters, you'll keep the heater cooler and thermostat energized putting out more heat in your home. Therefore, it'll use more energy unless the thermostat is set on a really low setting.

March 2012: Have gotten through another Winter with these same two oil filled heaters, saving significant money on energy in the process. Am quite fond of these two heaters. Feel safe with them and late model ionization AND PHOTOELECTRIC smoke alarms throughout my home. Photoelectric smoke sensors are important to detect slow smoldering fires before the fumes get you. If paper or something similar falls aganist the bottom of one of these heaters, it's just no big deal. Being able to use one with a stock pot of water on top of it to get more moisture in the air makes a big difference. Higher indoor humidityat least 40% is MUCH better for the respiratory system in the Winter. When the water is gone, I can soon tell without even looking to see if it is empty. The water gets warm but not too hot to be hazardous to anyone. Just keep the water away from the control unit side of the heater.

I knew exactly what I was buying when I purchased the Sunheat earlier this year and it does the job well. I needed a large-room electric zone heater for a small (450 sq ft) finished area for my basement. I live in Maine (very cold winters), but my well-insulated basement temperature stays fairly constant year round. I tried a few smaller space heaters and electric baseboard units prior to the Sunheat, but I found they simply didn't heat the space evenly or quickly enough. The Sunheat heats the space very well -comfortable and quick. The noise from the fan isn't even that loud. I can have the unit on next to the couch while I watch TV and it is a non-factor.

Also, it is important to note I do not run the unit 24/7 nor do I rely on the on-board temperature gauge to regulate the heat in the room. Instead, I plug the Sunheat into a Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat (which can be bought from Amazon for $30), and it basically turns my basement into a separate heat zone of the house. I can program when the heating unit comes and and what temp I want the room at based on when I use the space, just like I do on the other programmable thermostats in my house. I leave the Sunheat switched on and on the high temp setting, but it only comes on when my separate thermostat tells it to. A big reason that I bought a Sunheat 1500 is because it has a non-digital on-off switch, which is only thing that is compatible with this type of thermostat. The Duraflame (which is the top rated unit on Consumer Reports) and others will not work with a separate programmable thermostat because when they are plugged in, they require a person to actually turn them on by pushing a digital button. The Sunheat has a manual switch, which is exactly what I needed.

The rest of my house is on oil heat. I priced out adding a heating zone with forced hot water baseboards through my oil furnace in the basement, and installation alone was $1500-$1700, plus the cost of the oil heat. For around $275 I can accomplish the same with the Sunheat and outlet thermostat. I cannot say exactly how much my electric bill went up from using the Sunheat because it can be common for my bill to fluctuate $10-$20 each month yearround depending on other variables. I haven't seen an noticeable increase since I started using the Sunheat so that tells me it likely increases my electric bill around $10 monthly.

Again, I knew exactly what I needed when I bought the Sunheat and it does the job well.

I have tried many other heaters and this one is the cadillac of all heaters. Heater is rock solid and cranks out heat. It has a made in the USA wood case and is on wheels. The heater on off switch is located at the front top. Nothing on this heater gets hot.....very safe for pets and kids. 5 year warranty! A little more expensive then some heaters but worth every penny. Ignore the morons that claim all heaters are the same. I have had 1500 watt plastic junk heaters from walmart.....huge difference! A strong wind will blow the cheapies over or can get knocked over by a pet......Sunheat would take a hurricane to topple it.

You pay a lot more for a Mercedes then you do a Yugo for a reason.....I wonder if the same morons think the Mercedes is just the same as a Yugo and not worth the extra dollars??!! Buy this heater......best on the market!

Last year, I could no longer afford heating oil, so I attempted to heat my half on my duplex with two oil-filled radiators. My bedroom was barely warm; for the remaining rooms, I suffered. While at my computer, I could hardly feel my fingertips--and it was a mild winter! I got my SUNHEATER yesterday. The directions stated to set the thermostat full-on. Within seconds, I nearly baked! Plus, it barely takes up any space and is fairly quiet. I do not, as yet, have any heating-cost information; but it has to be much better than the two heaters it has replaced. My seller is great--I purchased the unit for, literally, $100 less than the national-hardware store I'd mapped-out for my purchase. Thus, this unit is a winner all around!

Bought this when my Delonghi heater finally crapped out. It's a nice unit, does the job (so far) of adding a little comfort to my unheated basement. Have only had it for half of one heating season, so we'll see how it pans out next year.

This product came exactly as described. It is not cheap or flimsy, was easy to install, and is very reliable. I bought 4 of these to replace the older ones in my condo and am very happy with them. I recommend this product.

I bought these several years ago and they've been a great addition to my upstairs dormer. It was basically unheated up there and space heaters just don't do what these are doing. I placed 1 under each of the 3 windows up there on one thermostat and it has never been as comfortable up there as it is now. They heat quickly and cool quickly. My bill didn't go through the roof either. I would replace them with the same type as they've served us well so far, and are still working and looking great.

I was looking for something to take the chill out of the bathroom with more wattage than an infrared heat bulb, and this low profile unit appeared to be less of a remodel than similar wall units. I was able to cut a hole in the kick panel under existing bathroom cabinets and wire it to a timer, and it definitely warms up the room. I wired it on a dedicated 220V circuit but it has a jumper if you need to convert it to 110V. My only complaint is that the height of the housing was a couple of millimeters taller than the gap from the floor to the bottom of my cabinet face. This meant I had to notch out the width of the housing from the bottom edge of the cabinet face, fortunately this could be done under a drawer so the drawer face conceals the cut edge. The horizontal overhang of most cabinet faces may also exceed the recommended maximum so far this has not presented any problems for me when running on a timer, but continuous duty might be a problem for heat sensitive finishes on cabinet faces.

I have had the Broan kickspace heater for 4 years and have had to replace the two heater elements three times. Luckily, I have expertise in electricty and repaired it myself. On the other hand, the elements have increased in price to the point that the next time the elements need replacing, I will search for another brand.

I bought three of these for my condo remodel and am very pleased. Wired the two bathroom heaters at 750 watts and the one for the kitchen at 1500 watts -all to timers. The units heat quickly and are totally invisible.

Great product! Heater tucks neatly into kickspace of our bathroom vanity. Opening for unit easily cut out with a dremel. Electrician hardwired it. We opted for a timer switch in the wall rather than a thermostat switch as we only are using it when we shower. Put it on before your shower and come out to a nice warm bathroom!

This is a great little heater if you don't need to heat huge spaces. At 10K BTU it is powerful enough to heat my 640 sq ft basement to 75 degrees even with a crack in the window and outside tempreture of 30 degrees. If you use a good quality Kerosene such as Crown 1-K or a reputable K-1 Clear suitable for use in unvented Kerosene heaters, you get virtually no odor from this heater. Adjust the flame correctly and it is a sweet burner for sure. I may use this one regularly to knock the chill off on those extra cold nights. I would recommend this heater.

I have owned my Sengoku Heat Mate for two winters now. Because I am an emergency preparedness buff, I studied up on the topic of kerosene heaters for sometime. What I like about kerosene heating is kerosene is a very safe fuel to store. It is a lubricant and is not volatile like gasoline or propane. I also like the fact that if the electricity goes out, I can have this back-up heating source (and lighting and cooking!) using kerosene. I am extremely happy with this heater. This heater, unlike other radiant heaters, has a very long catalytic converter. This results in a cleaner burn and a greater heat output. The most important thing you should know before buying this heater is that you need to buy a good wick for it. The factory-included wick is junk. You will have a lot of odors and not a good, clean burn after a couple of uses. I suggest you order a good quality wick from Miles Stair's Wick Shop (Google it). For about 6 bucks you will have a high quality wick instead of the cheap, thin one that is included wiht this unit. You will have a better, cleaner burn, no odor and good heat output. The wick is long lasting, too. The manual that comes with this heater will show you how to replace the wick. It's a little involved, so if you are not handy, you should get someone to help you. Please don't let this disuade you from buying this heater. This heater is really good and it's worth this minor inconvenience. You will have to change the wicks anyway sooner or later so why not learn from the get-go, right? Once you have your wick and ready to go, you remove the fuel tank/canister and fill it up. It holds about a gallone of kero. You insert the canister back in and must wait an hour (only with a new wick or dry wick) and then light her up. The auto ignition makes a high pitch beep as it lights and it usually lights right up within one to two seconds. Now, you must know that all kerosene heaters do produce some odors on light up and shut down. This is normal. It's the nature of the beast. Because I have high celings in my living area, we don't mind too much. However, if you are lighting up your kerosene heater in a small room with low ceilings, you may want to light it in a garage or outside on the porch and then bring it back in once it's burning completely. This is part of kerosene heaters. I don't mind the kerosene smell but some people do and are sensitive to it. You can expect a tank to run anywhere from 10-12 hours depending on how cold it is, how you have the flame set and how many times you shut her down and start her back up. Like I said, I have a large living area with high, vaulted celings. Large kitchen and three bedrooms on the main floor. If it's 45 degrees outside, I can keep my whole upper level warm (about 73 degrees and obviously a little cooler in the bedrooms) with this heater running. For only a 10600 BTU ouput, that's pretty good. My wife, who is cold blooded by nature, loves this heater. So much for emergency use! We find ourself using it all of the time for some extra heating. The kids love it too and even my 5 year old knows how to start her up and turn her off. As with every kerosene heater, after so many hours of use you beging to get a carbon build-up on the wick. Too much carbon can make light-up difficult, longer start up time, and can produce more odors and less efficient burning. To avoid this problem, you must remove that carbon build-up from the wick. And it's very easy to do. You need to do what is called a "dry burn". A dry burn simply means that you allow the wick to burn until there is no more kerosene in the tank. With this unit, you can do it fast with little kerosene waste if you do it right. When you begin to see that it's getting harder to light and takes longer to burn bright and you get more odors, it is time to do the dry burn. Burn your unit as normal, and when you are tank is almost on empty, take your unit outside or into the garage. Remove the catalytic converter, raise the wick and light it. It will burn smokey with the catalytic converter removed but that's okay. Burn it until it goes out. When it goes out, come back and light it again. It will burn for a few more minutes then go out again. Repeat this process a few times and you will see that your wick, although black, is free from carbon deposits. Let cool, wipe down the inside with a damp cloth to clean off any soot, refuel and you're ready to go. I can usually do this in about 30 minutes or less. The secret is knowing that you have just a bit of fuel left in the thank. This way, you waste very little kero doing your dry burn. After your dry burn is complete, you will watch in amazement as your heater (don't forget to let the kero re-soak into the wick for an hour) lights right up in just a second and burns nice, hot and clean. This unit puts out a lot of heat for being such a small guy. Take care of it and it will take good care of you. I also recommend you apply a coat of car wax to the exterior before using. This will help protect the finish and keep your unit protected and looking good for many years. Highly recommend this heater...just not the wick that comes with it!

This is a solid little kero heater. It doesn't have the traditional twist -type knob for on/off and wick adjustment. Instead, it has a adjustable lever that slides up and down. Next to the lever is a push-type button to extinguish the heater, which sends the lever up to the off position.To start the heater, you simply push the lever all the way down to the bottom position and hold it there briefly. This engages the battery-operated ignition and lights the wick quickly. Interestingly, the heater has a audible chiming sound that is heard when the unit is ignited. After the unit lights ( in about 1-2 seconds) the lever can be released. This causes the lever to sit in the wick adjustable range on the lever slide.I have not had to adjust the wick once since purchasing this unit about 1 month ago.The fuel tank is of the type that is removed,filled and placed back in the heater from a hinged cover on the top of the unit.I was a little confused about the fuel level meter at first but have come to realize that the fuel level meter only shows the fuel level for about the last 25% of kerosene left. Before that it simply remains a solid bar ("full")until the last 25% of fuel is reached in the unit. It is at this point that the meter level begins to decrease.

I am impressed with the efficiency of this heater and it seems to be a well constructed appliance.

The only aspect of this heater that I dislike is the audible chime that sounds when you ignite it. It's not extremely loud (like a smoke detector) but,none the less, could wake up someone in a nearby room if the unit is started while they are sleeping. It only chimes for as long as the wick is held in the "ignite" position, which is very brief.

All in all, a great, fuel efficient little unit. I purchased mine from Ace hardware. If you choose to pick it up at a local Ace store shipping is free. I found a coupon online for $10 off any purchase from Ace of $100 or more and paid about $110 for the heater. Ace shipped it to my nearby store (it was not in stock at the store and was purchased from their online site) in two days.

Update: After owning this for about 2 months, I must say I am pleased with it. No problems,just a few things I had to adjust to that's all. I find the chiming sound that is present when the igniter is used is not as loud as I at first thought. It hasn't been a problem for anyone sleeping in adjacent rooms. The unit is easily portable and weighs about 25lbs when full of fuel. You can pick it up and move up when it is lit (carefully) without the unit shutting off. It has been used in very cold conditions ( 4* yesterday) and still manages to heat the lower two levels of our 1500 square foot tri-level home. At the extreme lows it does struggle to provide adequate heat though. It has proven to be very fuel efficient.

Update #2 After using this heater for two solid winters, it has proven to be a winner. No problems with the wick, igniter, or other parts of the unit. The only issue is the glass globe has become hazy.I have tried to clean it using all manner of cleaners and abrasives to no avail. I plan on replacing the globe this Fall.

Honest reviews on Heat Mate HMN-110 Radiant Kerosene Heater 10000 BTU 380 Sq. Ft.

Based on all of the research I put into buying a kerosene heater, this one seemed to fit the bill. The most important consideration was minimal fumes. After reading the reviews and other internet info, I expected better performance. Following all instructions for set up in the manual, I had trouble with both lighting the heater and an unacceptable amount of fumes. Thinking that I had performed the dry burn wrong, I repeated it. It seemed that the problem was resolved. Fast ignition and clean almost fumeless burn. I was loving this heater. Fumes and difficult ignition returned after third use. Performed dry burn again. Heater worked well again for 2 to 3 uses. Repeated dry burn process with same results. Considering I have used only 5 gallons of kerosene, this is way too much effort. Doing the dry burn is a time consuming and cold process as it must be done outdoors. I contacted the manufacturer's customer service and it was suggested I do another dry burn or return the burner to Ace Hardware. I was not impressed with this advice since I have performed so many dry burns already and am not sure that Ace will allow a return after 2 months. (I will have to check this out.) What I really want is a clean burning heater that does not require constant maintenance. I don't know if I got a dud or what. The heater operation is quite simple. It doesn't seem like that much could go wrong. I don't know what to do at this point.

Thid review is a follow-up to all of my previous comments. Based at advice I have received from Adam and Miles Stairs' website, I have changed the wick and repeated the dry burn. (See additions to my initial review.) I am sick of this heater. Having done everything to make it work without fumes, I give up. The initial use after a dry burn is excellent. The fumes return after that and I have to do another dry burn. I am sick of doing dry burns. To compound my problems, the electric ignition is no longer working. Customer service is polite but worthless and so is this heater. I am glad that others are having good luck but for me all of this nursing along is just way too much especially since it does not improve the long term use of the heater. I would never recommend this heater. If zero stars were an option, that is what I would give it.

I'm on my second season with this little heater. At the end of the 2009 winter we threw out the other kerosene heater because this one was so clean burning. Almost no fumes. The glass chimney (catalytic converter) is tall and this means extra-clean burning. Very Fuel efficient providing ~10 +/hours on it's small 1 gallon tank. It's large enough for us to take the edge off the cold in our house living space. If we loose electricity this is also the back up heat for our house. A review on another web site noted quality Japanese parts, good design and clean operation. I purchased the heater directly on-line from Ace and picked it up at a local store.

Another reviewer noted the loud sound the heater makes with the ignition button is pushed. This is not a buzzer but the sound from the pizo electric ignition system. This starter is suppose to be more reliable than the glow type.

Got this on time and worked right out of the box. At first I was debating either this one or another purifier but the remote and 3 years warranty really stood out. Used it for a few days in the kitchen and bathroom it does wonders! What surprised me the most was we have a smoker in the house and this machine removed the cigarette smell just over night. My friend saw it and bought one for his house. I would definitely suggest giving this purifier a test drive.

My husband and I bought this unit 2 weeks ago thinking it would improve the air quality in our home and help cut down on some of the dust. After I received the unit, I went through the manual and set it up according to the directions. This unit has made absolutely no difference in the air quality in our home. Dust flows right through it despite the filters. We use it in our living room, (350 sq. ft.) and it does nothing. There's no way this thing cleans 3000 sq. ft. of air. The seller claims that there's a 30 day satisfaction guarantee but when we contacted the seller so we could return it, we were informed that if the unit wasn't sent back in the original packaging that there would be a 15% ($24.00) re-stocking fee, which is something they don't advertise here on Amazon. Don't buy it. It's a waste of money, the unit doesn't work as advertised, and the customer service is terrible. I would never buy from this seller again.

This is an excellent air-purifier after conducting my research. Comparable to similar designed box units but less expensive. Construction appears very good. I also like the look and styling of the unit.

Capabilities:

-Ozone generator. Five level setting. Very powerful. You can also turn ozone generation completely off.

-Negative ion generator 1 level setting. Can be turned on/off.

-Sterilization using UV light, 1 level, can be turned on/off.

-Fan speed has five levels. Lowest is very quiet, highest is no noisier than a typical room fan.

-LCD display with back light. The back-light is bright but it has a button to dim it.

-Small remote control works nicely.

So far very impressed with unit. Have only had it a few weeks so I cannot comment on its durability but the construction appears very well made. Even though it uses a washable HEPA filter, and the instructions with unit recommend replacement once a year, the HEPA filters are very reasonably priced which makes it a better option. So far I am very pleased about this product and I highly recommend it compared to the other alternatives I found in the market.

Regarding the seller, the purchase transaction was very smooth. The product was well packed and shipped promptly. I had some questions about HEPA filters and the seller promptly answered. Very professional and helpful. Excellent product at a very good price. I will buy again from this store.

This item worked just fine for a few months, once I figured out how to position the plate and filters. When I went to put it back in use during allergy season, it didn't power up. I checked inside and found the UV light was broken. But where the heck do you get a UV light for this thing? Also, the directions say to check the fuse, but I couldn't get the fuse cover off. There's no information in the instructions about who to contact or where to take it to get fixed. What a pain to get it serviced!

For anyone purchasing this unit, there are a few things you should know that will make your life easier. =)

STEP 1 -If you plan to use the ozone generating feature, then before you start up your unit, install the O3 plate (located in a separate box packaged inside the carton) by removing the four screws on the back of the unit. Remove each filter keeping them in the order you removed them. When you have removed all of the filters, there are two slots (center, top and bottom) where you will need to slide the O3 plate in. Make sure the arrows are pointing up and slide the plate towards the front of the unit. [DO NOT run the "Purifying" feature which is the ozone generating option if there are humans or pets in the house! I ran mine for about 30 minutes, and even had two windows open about 12" and my throat and sinuses became very dry and I had a strange metallic taste in my mouth and throat.]

Replace each filter in the same order you removed them. Be sure the last filter does not have the outside edge of it sticking out on the bottom or the unit will not work.

~~~~~~
The instructions in the user's manual are incorrect (per the Service Technician from the company where I purchased mine).
The instructions say that "you will know the Sterilize feature is activated from the soft blue glow visible through the front grill."
According to the Service Technician, "when you press the "STERILIZER" button, the sterilize feature of the purifier will get activated. You'll know that by looking at the LCD display panel."
~~~~~~

The instructions also say that you'll know the Anion feature "is activated as the orange bulb will be lit and clearly visible through the front grill."

On my unit, you have to put your face up to the unit to see the not-so-clearly-visible orange light. I have mine on top of a bookcase. If you place your unit up high, you WILL need to stand on a chair or step stool to see the orange glow.

Other than these few issues, I really like this Air Purifier. It's been running eight hours now in our 2-story great room and there is a noticeable difference in the quality of the air. The house smells fresh and not like dogs! YAY!! So far, so good!

Update: 12/6/12 still running 24/7. Our power fluctuated the other day and the purifier turned off. I noticed it a day later and turned it back on. The purifier started right up and is continuing to do its job. Definitely makes a difference keeping the air fresh and clean... even after you have a mishap in the kitchen that sets the smoke alarm off! =) Still loving it. =)

Update: 5/21/13 still running 24/7. Hubby sanded & refinished the hardwood floors in our foyer and the dust residue was ridiculous! The air purifier stopped running so I cleaned the back screen which was clogged up with dust. Not sure how to clean the filters (except for the ozone plate) because the instruction booklet is useless. The unit started right up and is running again. I sure did notice a huge difference while it wasn't running. So far! SOOOO GOOD!!! I am very pleased with this air purifier and so are my lungs. Definitely helps with the asthma. =]

I own Haier Model # HWR05XC6. This A/C doesn't have any buttons on the unit except the power button. I found this Universal remote Model # ACR-01 and it was only $11 not including shipping. I ordered this remote on 7/22/2011 (Friday) it shipped USPS and showed up for me on 7/25/2011 (Monday). The product was exactly as described. It is brand new, never opened. The code for me was the second one listed in the instructions. I am very happy.

Honest reviews on AnyCommand Universal AC Remote Control ACR-01

Highly recommend this remote! No electronic experience needed at all to to program this unit! It functions very well, and the control buttons operate all the factory's original features. A factory replacement unit would have cost around $38. Using a window A/C unit, around 5000 btu's. Maytag is the name on front; Fedders on the I.D. plate. Remote codes listed were the same for each brand. The operating manual (a simple one page easy to understand instruction sheet) lists many codes. I located this item with a little research on internet. I trust Amazon through my wife's good shopping experiences with them. My Rat Terrier Dog chewed up the factory unit.

Thank you,

Len

This remote is small and stylish. The battery comes installed. I simply have to pull out the insulating plastic tab and it is ready for use.

There are two possible code sets for Panasonic air conditioners. I try the first one; it doesn't work. The second set works like a charm. Now I just have to find a place for this remote so that my wife cannot find it and throw it away like the original one.

JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you've got money to burn.....just burn that to keep you warm!!! I purchased 4 of these heaters when I had my boiler go out mid winter of 2011. One never worked right out of the box. When I returned it to the store....they wouldn't take it back. So....out $65.00 right off the bat! One went out the first month....and One worked...on and off...for about 3 months then started burning and power wouldn't go on again. Packed the last one up to move to my rental house this winter and now that I need it....it won't stay on either and smells burned immediately. 4 heaters x $65.00ea ($260) in less than 10 months.....none left working!

I have had lasko tower heaters work for 10 years, that cost less. I also have small Lakewood $10.00 metal box heaters that have worked for years as well.....this COMFORT ZONE heater is JUNK!

I will NEVER purchase anything from Comfort Zone again!

OH....btw....go on google and just TRY to locate a customer support number or address for them!!!!

I purchased 3 of these heaters 2 months ago. I've only had to use them full time the past few weeks. All three have stopped working in the last week. One of them started putting out smoke before it quit working altogether. Only buy these if you don't need them to last very long, and if you'll be able to monitor them while they're on. They lasted just long enough to not be able to get a refund.

I bought this heater in the fall of 2010. It had a made on 8/2010 sticker on the bottom. It worked very well. Always kept the room nice a warm. However, in November 2011 I started noticing a burning smell. Then power button (not the on off button) stopped working. Then today it just stopped working all together. I noticed on the bottom a burn mark and hole. I looked around the area where it was sitting and sure enough my carpet has burn marks on it now. I took the bottom plate off to find that the coating around the small wire connecting to the power button had burned off and the wire disconnected. The wire was lying on the bottom of the unit, hence the burn mark. This is why you should never leave these space heaters on unattended. So in summary, it works great until the it starts to melt down!

Honest reviews on Comfort Zone CZ499R Oscillating Tower Heater with Remote Control

This heater shuts itself off after just a few minutes, which is probably a good thing, and smells like something is burning. This order permeates the room and makes one afraid to use again. I was going to put it in my daughter's room but won't now. Be very careful when purchasing this item -could be dangerous!

This cord comes with a non-polarized plug which I needed for my old appliance. The two end terminals are securely fastened to the copper and the round holes fit perfectly with the screws I had. The insulation is thick and appears capable of handling the heat. For the price, it's an excellent buy, more economical than the cord from Woods industries.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Granted it's not winter and I've not put this through a whole heating process of using it multiple nights. But I was able to use it a few times when it got cool here and I can say it heats up nice.

First off this is a ceramic type of heater. Not the fan type of infra-red. There are many pros and cons of each type. Naturally it does get a bit warm (some may say hot) in front, so if you have pets or children be careful.

Whats really nice is you can detach the side so to put part on a table or around something. There is a wire, but it's not going to stretch around the room. Or you can keep it all connected and maneuver the heater up. At the time I'm writing this, there are pictures at the top of this page you can click on to see what I am saying.

There are knobs you turn on/off and regular temperature. Not push buttons. Some prefer one over the other. Many find knobs easier.

What I will say is it's best to plug this directly into the wall outlet. BUT if you need an extension cord MAKE SURE you spend some extra money for a heavy duty contractors gauge extension cord, highest grade made! A regular extension cord WILL heat up and cause a fire. And plug it directly into the wall outlet. Look at the back of the extension cord package and ask in the store. You don't want a cold night, you're nice and comfortable and you smell smoke.

And be realistic, this is a great heater but it isn't going to heat up a large room. It's not radiator or kerosene heater. It's directional, depending upon how cold it is and your body, like all portable heaters it's just that, A portable zone heater. And it works great at that!

Do what it's made for and you will be warm and happy!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program File this one under, "how come no one thought of this before?"

It's a ceramic heater that allows you to detach the right half from the base unit (containing the controls) and deploy it up to six feet away.

This means that you and a significant other can each enjoy your own separate heater when you're snuggled up on a couch or sitting at the kitchen table. Or you can have heat on your face and feet simultaneously, when you're seated at a desk. Or you can have the two heaters directing their heat at you from the left and right, enveloping you in warmth.

The two halves feature fan-driven ceramic heaters with red lights that come on to show they're working.

You can choose to fire up just the left half, or the right half, or both together. Note, however, that the single thermostat governs both sides. This means that you can't dial up separate settings for each side, though, of course, you can place one half farther away from you if you get too hot.

The reason I deduct one star is the plastic construction of the heater housings. In my experience, the plastic housings of ceramic heaters tend to warp or even melt from the heat; I prefer ceramic heaters with metal housings.

As I write this, in early Fall, I haven't had a chance to put this puppy through its paces over an extended period. When I do, I will return with a report on how the housings are holding up.

I see also that neither half of this heater has a user-serviceable air input filter like my Tatung Heat Devil. Whether this deficiency will lead to reduced performance over time is a question of concern. The product comes with a three-year warranty, however, which is fairly generous in this day and age.

You're supposed to be able to direct the right half in three directions -up, straight, and down -when it's attached to the left half, but it doesn't seem to click into place firmly to hold each position, and it's very easy to detach the half entirely as you try to position it. Straight ahead seems the best position when the two halves are united.

Otherwise the fans in the two halves are pretty quiet in operation, and the halves cycle on and off together without making loud clicks or annoying start-up noises.

So if you like the positioning flexibility this two-in-one heater gives you, you might want to give it/them a try. The price seems reasonable, and then your main day-to-day concern will be, "to halve or halve not"! (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

UPDATE: The boiler in our apartment building was out overnight, and my apartment temperature dropped to 61 degrees. I deployed this heater pair, and I'm afraid it proved VERY slow at heating up the apartment. I would therefore recommend it primarily for those who want some spot heat delivered very quietly, like folks working at a desk or watching a movie at home. Those needing a heater to warm up a cold room rapidly will definitely want a different model, perhaps one of those Vornado whole-room heaters.

Best Deals for Ambia Ach-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Positives:

* The split design.

* The space in the backs of both heaters to tuck away excess cord.

* Powerful.

* Heats large area.

* Relatively quiet.

* Tilt option for one half when both halves are attached.

* The sides unplug from each other for easier storage.

Negatives:

* DOESN'T turn off automatically when knocked over; No safety tip-over switch.

* The controls are only on one unit of this two-unit heater.

* Requires relatively large floor space because of the stand and horizontal design.

* Front gets very hot.

* The automatic temperature control switches heat on or off only, no gradual decrease high med low slightly annoying to hear it turn on and off and can mislead you to think that it is entirely off.

I was a little overwhelmed at the amount of floor space needed to use this heater. For a small, crowded room, or place with narrow halls or doors, I wouldn't recommend this version. The front get very hot, so you need at least 1½ feet, minimum, clearance.

SAFETY ISSUE: This heater has NO AUTO OFF (safety tip-over switch) for when it gets knocked over. Granted, the wide base makes this a little less likely to happen, but when separated the other side isn't as stable and becomes a serious fire hazard. The front of the heater gets hot enough to melt plastic, burn your fingers if in contact for a half a second, and possibly burn papers and things. You never would want it to tip over when hot. The Consumer Product Safety Commission warns: "Use a heater with thermostat control and an automatic device that turns the heater off if it tips over."

You have 4 choices on the top dial: Off, left half only on, right half only on, or both sides on. This is convenient, if you remember to keep the half with the controls in the room you'll be using the most.

This heater cranks up really quickly, and isn't too loud when running. The lower dial controls what level of warmth to maintain. When the room reaches the warmth level you've designated, both sides will shut off. Read there is no high/medium/low where they are louder & blowing more heat vs quiet and blowing softly. Your options are on or off. This could be okay for many people, but I'm a light sleeper, and find the frequent on-off-on-off annoying.

Another reason the complete ON vs OFF is a downside: It can mislead you to believe the heaters are off entirely. I know it's good safety practice to unplug heaters and such when not in use, but sometimes you forget. Once I was running out the door, passed the silent, cool heater, and, just as I was leaving, heard it switch on. You should never leave space heaters running while unattended; it's a serious fire hazard.

This should be a good floor heater for people with average sized rooms, who aren't annoyed by noises, and who are very, very careful and not forgetful.

Honest reviews on Ambia Ach-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater

Shipped quickly....I bought this to heat quickly a finished part of my garage that I use as my man cave...love the detachable nature of the one side to be moved up to 3 feet from the unit. The unit heats quickly an area where two or so people sit for a short period...I don't use it to heat the entire 500 sq ft area...just the area I sit in.

good purchase for me.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ambia Ach-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The concept of the Ambia ACH-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater is ingenious. A dual-module heater where one of the modules detaches and can be moved up to 6 feet away from the base unit? What a great idea! The heater also generates a decent amount of heat. But the big problem I have with it is the noise it makes. The fan itself is pretty noisy. And because it has a thermostat that cycles the unit on/off in order to maintain a desired temperature, the unit goes on/off quite frequently. To make matters worse, it's not a gradual on/off, either. It's a very abrupt on; and a very abrupt off. And when it goes on, there's a pretty loud click that accompanies that, too. I haven't owned a lot of ceramic heaters. In fact, I only have one other one. But that one has a fan that gradually slows down/speeds up in order to maintain the desired temperature. That approach is much less annoying, in my opinion. The noise this heater makes when it goes on/off even scares my cats. I really like the concept behind this unit. And it does a decent job of heating up a small room. I just don't like the noise it makes. One last point: It would be nice if this heater had more than just the one fan speed setting. A low/high option would've been a nice feature.

UPDATE (2/16/13): This heater has been retired from use because of two reasons. 1.) The right unit only works intermittently now. It became a crap shoot as to whether or not the right side would work every time I turned the heater on. Sometimes it would. Sometimes it wouldn't. I felt like it was unsafe to operate the unit. 2.) My wife discovered that while the heater was running the plug got incredibly hot. Not just warm, but HOT. We never plugged it into an extension cord or power strip; only a grounded wall outlet. But the plug got so hot it was almost too hot to touch. Again, it seemed like a safety issue. We already disliked the very noisy fan and the loud clicking noise it made when it came on. The safety concerns were the last straw. I would recommend staying away from this heater.
