Just Love it, I was looking for a Fats & Convenient single serve machine and so far, after a few weeks using it, i still love it. The only con is the availability of the T-Disk compare to the K-Cup which is everywhere.

The Tassimo is an excellent alternative to the " other one". It works exceptionally well, is quiet and quite sleek looking. The price of the T cups is comparable to k cup. If you are looking for an alternative to a single cup maker, this would be a great choice.

Nice heater, good looking heating element, Fit between studs fine. The fan motor has excessive and uncontrolled end play. There is no way to fix this without replacing the fan motor with one of better quality. Noisy Noisy Noisy!!!

This Broan/Nutone heater is just fine. I installed many of these for customers when I was an electrical contractor. This one is for my own use. Excellent USA made product. Good company.

The unit is nicely designed, easy to install, and works great. Don't have enough experience to comment about reliability yet.

Honest reviews on Broan Model 194 Wall Heater, 1500/3000 Watt 240 VAC, White Painted

I bought 3 of these to replace existing 25 year old wall heaters in a relative's basement. I was an easy direct replacement. Same exact size hole, same wire location, it was relatively simple. They heat very quickly. The only drawback to these new heaters is they are considerably louder that the heaters they replaced. Fan vibration could be improved.

I received the first unit and all went well wired it in place and tested fine.

I received the second unit the next day with some packaging damage and after repairing the bottom flange that had a small amout of damage and then wiring it in place to test I found that the control knobs are missing would like a way to just get new control knobs without removing the complete unit and sending it back.

This does not put out the heat the company says it does, I was/am so disapointed. The area I wanted to be kept warm is 58'x16'. I did as I was told by the tech, heat my house up with furnace heat first then run the insert heater. When the furnace heat wore off the only heat was right near the insert. If you want to have it in a fake fireplace for looks it does the job, but if you want it to keep a large area warm as it advertizes, don't by this product.

Pros:

Casters can be removed and stored within the bottom of the unit, securely for storage.

Cord has storage compartment with a closing door, which latches securely.

Four Heat settings.

Silent.

Highly Effective.

Cons:

Documentation is a little dated, refers to the switches on the unit being a rotary type dial control.

While the product description does mention a circulation fan, I don't see one and frankly I'm glad it doesn't seem to have one. It's silent, totally silent. Setting switch 3 (Bottom Element) to ON (375 Watts), more than ample to heat my entire upstairs. A pleasant slow event heat.

The product isn't UL listed, but it is ETL listed. There is an overheat circuit interrupt with a button on the back of the unit, and sensitive tip over cut-off switch. Very pleased with the safety of the unit overall.

The unit functions in two ways, first is the reflective heat you can see and feel when the unit is ON; it feels like warm sunshine. Second, it functions as a convection heater; air passes through from the cold floor up through the unit and is released via a grill on the top of the unit.

Switch Layout:

Switch 3 Bottom Element

Switch 2 Top Two Elements

Switch 1 Second From Bottom Element

Dial:

No temperature markings, does have a very wide travel path; so accurate temperature control is very easy.

Most heaters of this type are two settings only, ~1000 Watt, and ~1500 Watt. This results in good warmth, but results in the area in front of the unit being warmer than the rest of the room.

When I purchased, there were only two reviews on this unit. One review was particularly harsh and gave a One-Star due to the misprint about the fan. I decided to take the plunge and buy the heater anyway; very glad for my decision to buy.

I just got mine and plugged it in. You felt immediate warmth even at the lowest setting with no sound. I don't think I will put it on high because low generates enough heat for my comfort. Maybe later in the bitter cold of winter I can update with a higher setting.

As with all Quartz heaters you have the glow from the tube but it is not bright. The picture shows all four elements going that is the highest setting one tube for each additional setting comes on for a total of four.

Also very important the one advertised says 1 year warranty mine says 3 year so the one in the picture could be an earlier version or just a misprint.

Only draw back is it is not the prettiest to look at but I bought it for warmth not decorum. Would of gotten 5 out of 5 if it had a blower or was better looking.

This heater puts out more heat than any I ever tried, and I own 8 different types of electric space heaters. The combination infrared and convection is what I think makes this heater special. Although I cannot really put my finger on it, it seems to have a different effect on different people. For myself I set this on the lowest 375 watt setting and I am immediately warm, even in a large 21x20 Family room with a 17'2" ceiling. For my wife and my mother, they are not impressed. It needs to be on 750 watts for them to be just ok. I do not know if it is something about the infrared that does not affect everyone the same. The heat it puts out is not a gush of fan forced heat, it is more of a consistent heat that warms you immediately, I don't know how they cannot feel it. The thermometer agrees with my position on this. On high this thing will move a thermometer more than any other space heater I have, and I have some that cost me $200. Anyway, for those of you that can feel the infrared, there is absolutely no better heater and no heater more efficient. At the 375 watt setting this will have a significant savings over any other space heater and still be warm. Used in this manner, this unit will pay for itself in a month in electricity savings.

On high the top and front get very hot, heat just pours out of the top and also almost as much in the front. The infrared effect seems similar on low as it does on high, so the immediate warmth effect is not much better on high, although the thermometer sure does move more on high.

This Optimus H-5300 is very well built and appears will last a long time. It is decent looking also, and I like the switches. The different settings use different infrared tubes, so when one burns out, you can start using a different one. This should extend the longevity of this. Not sure if the quartz tubes can be replaced easily.

I highly recommend this heater.

Honest reviews on Optimus H-5300BK Quartz and convection Radiant Heater

We purchased this item after it was recommended from a friend. We were going to purchase an Edenpure or Amish heater but after hearing from a friend about the price difference and also the quality of the Optimus heater,I read reviews on the internet and decided to purchase the Optimus. We have been very satisfied with the performace and also the quietness of this heater. It has helped with heating a room that we had no heat in that was alway damp.

The Optimus heater now creates a comfortable room and we keep it at very low temerature to keep out the dampness.I would recommend this heater highly because it is lower priced(much) and small enough that you can move from room to room, and also very quiet.

After several months' trials with standard resistive and oil-filled space heaters, I decided to take a look at an IR (quartz) design as final recourse before more drastic and costly measures to keep warm in a very cold living space. As it turns out, I saved the best for last with this particular selection.

Being of normal human makeup, my recent perpetual immersion in an atmosphere of toxic fumes has registered as undesirable. Such was the outcome associated with a recent sampling of new space heaters chosen to take the bite off a periodically below-zero Iowa Fall; particularly the oil-filled selections. Indeed, even a "premium" resistive design which was tried for a while could not stop outgassing due to the low-quality plastics which were pressed into high-temperature service throughout the construction. For a series of quality-related reasons, all went back to their respective stores in a series of seemingly unending rounds.

Thankfully, this design, however, finally answers most needs for upper-story heat in a certain 1912 Midwestern vintage home without recourse to central air.

The H-5300 product appears to be well-made and thoughtfully designed. Room temperature is regulated through a basic thermostat which is isolated from the unit's heating processes; allowing for accurate control of ambient air temperatures. Even the "good old" designs of years past suffered from profound limitations in this area: I am grateful that someone finally spent the ten or so extra minutes with this aspect of space heater design for their offering. Result: No more wide swings in RT during operation.

Even the thermostat itself seems to be of above-average quality, as there is no contact bounce during on/off transitions (heard from most current designs as a brief, distinctive, periodic "chirp" during operation). This will add to long-term durability for the product.

To facilitate even tighter control of room temperature, the unit's heating elements are run on a strategy which minimizes on/off temperature swings during operation. When set at maximum heating capacity, two of the unit's four elements run continuously; relegating active thermostatic control to the two lower tubes. Firsthand experience shows this approach to be effective in a particularly cold and challenging living space layout.

As a further plus, heat produced by the unit is well diffused throughout the surrounding environment. This is accomplished through a clever design despite the unit's lack of an actual mechanical fan (a desirable "feature" to be without, if possible).

Finally, no outgassing from the product at any power level was noted after the first few minutes of operation (this one aspect alone was nearly enough to sell me right off). The unit does not seem to appreciably dry out the surrounding air.

On the flip side, here are some considerations which may militate against one's decision to purchase this unit:

1. Being a consumer-level quartz heater product, on/off cycle noise from the elements may pose a problem in some or all units with the passage of time. Indeed, one of the units which was purchased here manifests this characteristic already: Something to bear in mind if used in sleeping quarters.

2. The unit is wired to disallow thermostatic control on the lowest two power settings: i.e. the upper two elements are selectively-configured for constant running when heating power levels are set to the first two switch positions. This could pose some issues during periods of milder chill without a central heating system to take up the slack.

3. While the visible light level emitted from the unit is quite reasonably low, it is still present. This is another consideration for bedroom use.

However, on point three (above), the spectra involved is of a frequency range which should not disturb the transition into deep sleep for most people; as it is roughly the same as that emitted by a low flame. To the point: If you can comfortably fall asleep in front of a smoldering fireplace then you shouldn't have any trouble with the type and levels of ambient light produced during operation of this unit. At worst, a simple roll over in bed should be sufficient.

In sum, this seems to be an excellent product; and solves a problem which has represented a significant hassle for me. As to cost, the units were purchased locally from a nationwide retailer which is homophonically named for the antonym of "highs" at under $60 per item. The return policy of this particular retailer affords most the opportunity to try an item out for some time before a final commitment is made.

I will update this review at need if any measurable problem is discovered during the long-term usage of the product.

12.27.2010 UPDATE >>

After only a week's worth of use, the heating element on/off cycle noise has become quite significant in the H-5300 units which are on hand here. As I had suspected, this problem manifests itself with use and worsens over time: It is a characteristic of these quartz-element designs.

The periodic short-term noise created is similar to the alarm buzz from a cheap 1960s vintage bedside clock (albeit at a measurably lower decibel level). Therefore, obviously, I cannot recommend bedroom usage for the product except at the lowest two power levels which prohibit thermostatic on/off cycling of the heating elements.

With some deliberation, I dropped one star from my rating for this particular issue. However, room temperature control remains absolutely superb, second to none; and, due to the apparent quality of construction, I suspect that the product will continue to perform flawlessly throughout its service life.

1.27.2012 UPDATE >>

Second season well underway with no durability or performance problems.

This Winter sees the H-5300 in a New England setting. Temperatures here are much more mild than the Midwest; and, in this situation, the main floor household temperature is maintained at a baseline of 63 degrees F. The upstairs sleeping quarters are not directly heated.

Currently, only 1 to 2 elements (375 to 750 Watts) are all that have been necessary for closed bedroom overnight heat; leading to a seasonal testing scenario without much recourse to built-in thermostatic action.

In this setting, the room air mass remains within a consistent and comfortable range: We simply leave the unit on switch position 1 or 2 before retiring. If fairly cold, the unit is left running with one or two elements during the day to maintain sensible overall room temperatures.

Good for boiling water but seems to drip but not leak, maybe condensation or sweat. I wouldn't try soup, to difficult to clean. Boiling water for condensed soups would be my suggestion but that means another seperate container/cup to mix...more to do. Or you could buy a nice thermos here on Amazon that's gauranteed to keep anything hot or cold for at least 8 to 12 hours. I use a combination of both being on the road 3 to 4 hours a day & avoiding fast foods.

I am disapointed that there are not more reviews on this product! We have a second home in the mountains with a bar/gameroom downstairs which has central heat, but still maintains a chilly 50degrees in the winter(outside temps in the teens). We wanted a small space heater to push the temp to around 60degrees. The room has a fireplace, but we don't want to burn a cord of wood every winter just to use the space for a few drinks or a movie. We bought a small Honeywell heater which didn't put out enough heat. We exchanged it for a bigger Pure Comfort box but it died the first night and the local hardware store didn't have a replacement... so.. we got back to the flatlands and purchased a Vornado. I plugged it in and I tried to warm our large(12ft ceiling-250sqft) living room just to see how it would perform, but after 40minutes it didn't seem to do much. I then moved it to our family room which is about 200sqft w/8ft ceilings, but is not an enclosed room(open to kitchen and hallway). I feel the heat blowing from the unit but I don't feel the overall space getting warmer... so.. i guess the jury is still out. I plan on taking it up to our mountain home next weekend to heat the 150sqft gameroom, but I am skeptical. Having the unit next to you in quite comfortable but it doesn't seem to warm the entire room. Probably this is not a good test.. my expectations might be too high. In an enclosed room it might be alright. Right now it seems like a good under-the-desk unit for your office... but.. update coming...

We purchased this heater after our other, much older one, burned out. This heater is relatively small and runs pretty quietly, which is nice. But that isn't enough to compensate for the absurdly poor amount of heat that it puts out. We didn't expect much from a small room heater, but out of all of the room heaters that we have ever used this is by far the weakest one. It is also disappointing that this heater has very few settings and doesn't oscillate. If you want a little heater to warm your toes during spring while you're also running a stronger heater then by all means, get this one. If you're looking for an actual heater that has the ability to heat an entire room by more than 4 degrees than this is certainly not for you.

Best Deals for Vornado TH1 Whole Room Tower Heater

The Owner's Guide uses page 2 exclusively to inform reader that Vornado products are "Designed, engineered and supported in Andover, Kansas.

My first Vornado purchase many years ago was the Vortex Heat Whole Room Portable Electric Space Heater. It was smooth, quiet, and best of all it offered a continuous running fan while the heat cycled off and on. This made for an uniterrupted pleasing sound to sleep or work by. It pleased me to think that these must be better machines because they were Made in America.

However, since then I have purchased 2 more such type units. Both, regretablly, not like the 1st. Both had a sporadic rattle of some sort that could be easily heard. I called customer service to voice my unhappiness, but there was not a sympathetic customer service rep on the other end. I still have these 2 units.

In November, 2012, I ordered the TH1 Tower Heater from Vornado for $99.99, with much anticipation that it surely would meet the preference for that continuous running fan feature and the quiet running feature they especially emphasized. Upon its first use, there was an obvious high-pitched whirring sound that was audible beyond the actual whir of the fan. As I wanted to utilize the unit for a pleasant "white" type sound as much for the heat feature, I was disappointed.

Maybe most people would never notice, but being sound sensitive it is an irritant to me.

I called customer service and was met with a listening, concerned, warm-hearted customer rep. He had me download and print off a UPS mailing label for its return. Furthermore, he stated he would go ahead and have another mailed back to me. This transaction was very good, very pleasing.

In a reasonable amount of time, the replacement arrived.

Upon its first use, the same whirring sound was still present. Ugh! I will keep it & use it, but will do so when needing "quietness" isn't an imperative.

In conclusion, the unit may be designed, engineered and supported in Kansas, but it definitely is Made In China.

I bought this AC unit during the excess heat wave this summer. The unit, (once properly vented) works really well for cooling my bed room but it shuts off when the water needs drained. Durning these hot temperatures this is after only 2-2.5 hrs. Draining the water is not an easy task because the drain is only 1 inch from the floor so you can only use a really really shallow dish. It does come with a hose to connect to a drain for continous drainage but the drain must be below or at the same level as the AC unit.

This drainage problem makes the unit NOT useful for long term cooling (you can't run it all night or use it to cool while at work)

As a long term solution I am working on buidling a stand to set the unit on for continous drainage into a bucket but it is heavey and vibration makes noise a problem. Other portable AC unit have a collecting bottle which is easy to revome for drainage.

I bought my Sunpentown in May of 2005. When it arrived the LED display was broken and the 12,000 BTU air conditioner was not capable of cooling my 150 square foot room. I called Sunpentown and explained the situation. They said that as long as the output temperature was 20% cooler than the input temperature the unit was considered to be functioning properly.

Do the math. If your room is 95 degrees, a 20% reduction means that the air coming out of the AC is still a sweltering 78 degrees! A 12,000 BTU air conditioner should turn my tiny room into a meat locker, even on the hottest days. The Sunpentown struggled to make the room comfortable anytime the temperature exceeded 80 degrees. Since the LCD was broken I decided to have them replace my unit hoping that I might get a better one. The second unit worked as poorly as the first, but at least the LCD was visible.

As others have noted, drainage is a constant issue with these units. Mine would only run for 3-4 hours before drainage was required so I wound up putting it on a stand and running a hose from the discharge area to a 5 gallon bucket. There is simply too much water produced for it to successfully blow out the exhaust hose. It should be noted that my unit only had 1.5 feet of exhaust hose with no bends so it was an ideal installation. If you have any bends in the hose it will only make matters worse.

In August 2006 the unit quit cooling the air. The compressor would kick on, but no cooling occurred. I called Sunpentown but since my unit was 3 months over the 1 year warranty they wouldn't do anything. My only option was to ship the unit to their facility at my cost, have them diagnose and repair the unit at "flat rate" (but they wouldn't discuss specific prices) and ship it back to me at my expense.

Not wanting to incur $175 in shipping charges PLUS the unspecified repair fees just to return my Sunpentown Portable Air Conditioner to its unacceptably poor level of functionality I sent my unit to a place it truly belongs THE LANDFILL.

If a normal window unit won't work for you, save yourself a lot of money/time/aggravation and buy a giant industrial size fan. Sunpentown builds lousy products and provides lousy service when those products fail.

Best Deals for SPT WA-1230E 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control

My experience with a Supentown Portable AC Unit is very similar to what 'Thorion (Rome, NY)' reported. I purchased a WA-1200E in June 2006 and it died last week (end of June 2007). This unit was lightly used (less than 10 hours per week during warm months only) . I contacted their support staff and, although they were prompt to reply, they indicated that the unit was out of warranty and that nothing was covered. They gave me the option of shipping the unit (85 lbs) at my own expense back to their warehouse in CA. They would then determine what part(s) failed and charge me for the replacement parts, labor and return shipping. Their other suggestion / advice was to take it to a local repair shop of my choice and have them find out the problem...then order the replacement parts from them. Either way....TERRIBLE! For a costly unit like this it should last way longer than 12 1/2 months. DO NOT BUY!!!

Honest reviews on SPT WA-1230E 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control

I was shocked at how useless this thing was. I would turn this unit on immediately when I come home from work. The initial reading on the unit would say something like 95% (house was all closed up). The unit could not even drop the room temperature below 90%. After about 1hr the exhaust hose would radiate so much heat into the room that the unit made a better heater than air conditioner. The vents blow upwards as if to cool the ceiling. You cannot adjust them vertically. The unit is also very loud.

I returned the unit after giving it a try for about 3 weeks. The other pain is returning this. You have to put it back in the box it came in with all the paper work and then carry this 85 pound box to a fedex place to have it shipped back to the manufacturer. You have to pay shipping to send it back and you are not refunded that amount. Plus there is a 6% restocking fee.

Good riddance.

I bought this product in the summer of 07. I live in a room over the garage that gets the brunt of the sun and therefor reaches 78-80 degrees even with the AC on. At first the unit after running for a couple hours would drop the temp to 72 on a summer day but no lower. The first spring/summer I did not have to change the water at all. The next spring/summer it could only drop the temp down to 73-74 and I had to change the water 5-6 times. Now only less than 3 years later we are in the midst of our first 80 degree week. The unit is only dropping the temp to 75 and I've had to change the water twice in two days.

Please read everyone's review about how hard it is to change the water. I can confirm every complaint.

If I had to do it over I would have gone another route towards cooling my room.

Clearly a lot of people have had problems with this unit. When mine failed after about 6 weeks of use, I dug into it to see what was up. It ends up that the overheat protection on this thing isn't real great. The first layer of overheat protection is provided by a sensor integrated into the heating element. I can't tell exactly, but it seems from the element manufacturer's literature (....) that the device sends a cut off signal between 250 and 300 C, per the chart on page 4. However, Honeywell used an NEC-Schott SF214E thermal cutoff as a backup device. This fails permanently if it's heated to 214 C. In other words, the backup, "sacrifice the machine and not the house it's in" device fails before the normal operation re-settable thermal cutoff. As a result, the device will probably stop working the first time it runs dry. Don't buy it.

Of four units that were sent, three failed after one or two nights' use. Don't bother.

Unfortunately, my experience was the same as most other reviewers. I only got two months use out of the unit before it stopped working completely: no mist, lights or power. Honeywell makes wonderful humidifiers, but this model is a complete dud.

I have a couple of tips for other unfortunate souls who are about to return this horrible humidifier. A rep from KAZ told me to send the unit in to their Return Department and they would replace it at no cost (although I have to pay for the shipping to KAZ). If you're returning one of these units, be sure to tell the rep to do the following: waive the $10 warranty fee, and send a different model of humidifier as a replacement. The rep I spoke to had no problem with either of these requests. Now, I'll just have to wait and see if they follow-thru on a good replacement.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier, HWM-330

I have a newer model, 3 gallon, HMWM-331. After going through 3 other brands with very poor results this season, this one is a winner! Very quiet (no gurgling); it will not disturb an infant or a light sleeper, as opposed to the Bionaire and others, efficient and easy to clean. So far, no mineral build-up, even though our water is quite hard. It uses disposable mineral absorption pads. The only inconvenience is filling the tankit doesn't sit flat and you need to support at an angle. but that is really minor, given the quiet efficient operation and attractive design. Low price too. This is the best we've ever had. The phone support is also good. Kaz works for many brands and they are quite responsive, even though many of the brands aren't very good. I definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a very quiet warm mist unit for a mid-size room.

I bought a new Honeywell Quicksteam (HWM-330) several months ago from a local store, to help keep our bedroom at a comfortable humidity. The humidifier worked well enough, but less than a week after we had been using it, the unit wouldn't turn on again the morning after we used it.

We suspected the problem was that the unit burned out after having used up its water supply during the night. To their credit, Honeywell sent us a brand new unit after we sent the broken one back to them. But once again, the new unit died after running out of water overnight, less than a week after we had received our second unit.

It would be one thing if they had advertised the unit as NOT having an auto shut-off feature. In that case, we never would have purchased it; however, we've had two units die after less than two weeks of CUMULATIVE use, and for the same reason. As such, I strongly recommend AGAINST purchasing this humidifier.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Granted it's not winter and I've not put this through a whole heating process of using it multiple nights. But I was able to use it a few times when it got cool here and I can say it heats up nice.

First off this is a ceramic type of heater. Not the fan type of infra-red. There are many pros and cons of each type. Naturally it does get a bit warm (some may say hot) in front, so if you have pets or children be careful.

Whats really nice is you can detach the side so to put part on a table or around something. There is a wire, but it's not going to stretch around the room. Or you can keep it all connected and maneuver the heater up. At the time I'm writing this, there are pictures at the top of this page you can click on to see what I am saying.

There are knobs you turn on/off and regular temperature. Not push buttons. Some prefer one over the other. Many find knobs easier.

What I will say is it's best to plug this directly into the wall outlet. BUT if you need an extension cord MAKE SURE you spend some extra money for a heavy duty contractors gauge extension cord, highest grade made! A regular extension cord WILL heat up and cause a fire. And plug it directly into the wall outlet. Look at the back of the extension cord package and ask in the store. You don't want a cold night, you're nice and comfortable and you smell smoke.

And be realistic, this is a great heater but it isn't going to heat up a large room. It's not radiator or kerosene heater. It's directional, depending upon how cold it is and your body, like all portable heaters it's just that, A portable zone heater. And it works great at that!

Do what it's made for and you will be warm and happy!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program File this one under, "how come no one thought of this before?"

It's a ceramic heater that allows you to detach the right half from the base unit (containing the controls) and deploy it up to six feet away.

This means that you and a significant other can each enjoy your own separate heater when you're snuggled up on a couch or sitting at the kitchen table. Or you can have heat on your face and feet simultaneously, when you're seated at a desk. Or you can have the two heaters directing their heat at you from the left and right, enveloping you in warmth.

The two halves feature fan-driven ceramic heaters with red lights that come on to show they're working.

You can choose to fire up just the left half, or the right half, or both together. Note, however, that the single thermostat governs both sides. This means that you can't dial up separate settings for each side, though, of course, you can place one half farther away from you if you get too hot.

The reason I deduct one star is the plastic construction of the heater housings. In my experience, the plastic housings of ceramic heaters tend to warp or even melt from the heat; I prefer ceramic heaters with metal housings.

As I write this, in early Fall, I haven't had a chance to put this puppy through its paces over an extended period. When I do, I will return with a report on how the housings are holding up.

I see also that neither half of this heater has a user-serviceable air input filter like my Tatung Heat Devil. Whether this deficiency will lead to reduced performance over time is a question of concern. The product comes with a three-year warranty, however, which is fairly generous in this day and age.

You're supposed to be able to direct the right half in three directions -up, straight, and down -when it's attached to the left half, but it doesn't seem to click into place firmly to hold each position, and it's very easy to detach the half entirely as you try to position it. Straight ahead seems the best position when the two halves are united.

Otherwise the fans in the two halves are pretty quiet in operation, and the halves cycle on and off together without making loud clicks or annoying start-up noises.

So if you like the positioning flexibility this two-in-one heater gives you, you might want to give it/them a try. The price seems reasonable, and then your main day-to-day concern will be, "to halve or halve not"! (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

UPDATE: The boiler in our apartment building was out overnight, and my apartment temperature dropped to 61 degrees. I deployed this heater pair, and I'm afraid it proved VERY slow at heating up the apartment. I would therefore recommend it primarily for those who want some spot heat delivered very quietly, like folks working at a desk or watching a movie at home. Those needing a heater to warm up a cold room rapidly will definitely want a different model, perhaps one of those Vornado whole-room heaters.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Positives:

* The split design.

* The space in the backs of both heaters to tuck away excess cord.

* Powerful.

* Heats large area.

* Relatively quiet.

* Tilt option for one half when both halves are attached.

* The sides unplug from each other for easier storage.

Negatives:

* DOESN'T turn off automatically when knocked over; No safety tip-over switch.

* The controls are only on one unit of this two-unit heater.

* Requires relatively large floor space because of the stand and horizontal design.

* Front gets very hot.

* The automatic temperature control switches heat on or off only, no gradual decrease high med low slightly annoying to hear it turn on and off and can mislead you to think that it is entirely off.

I was a little overwhelmed at the amount of floor space needed to use this heater. For a small, crowded room, or place with narrow halls or doors, I wouldn't recommend this version. The front get very hot, so you need at least 1½ feet, minimum, clearance.

SAFETY ISSUE: This heater has NO AUTO OFF (safety tip-over switch) for when it gets knocked over. Granted, the wide base makes this a little less likely to happen, but when separated the other side isn't as stable and becomes a serious fire hazard. The front of the heater gets hot enough to melt plastic, burn your fingers if in contact for a half a second, and possibly burn papers and things. You never would want it to tip over when hot. The Consumer Product Safety Commission warns: "Use a heater with thermostat control and an automatic device that turns the heater off if it tips over."

You have 4 choices on the top dial: Off, left half only on, right half only on, or both sides on. This is convenient, if you remember to keep the half with the controls in the room you'll be using the most.

This heater cranks up really quickly, and isn't too loud when running. The lower dial controls what level of warmth to maintain. When the room reaches the warmth level you've designated, both sides will shut off. Read there is no high/medium/low where they are louder & blowing more heat vs quiet and blowing softly. Your options are on or off. This could be okay for many people, but I'm a light sleeper, and find the frequent on-off-on-off annoying.

Another reason the complete ON vs OFF is a downside: It can mislead you to believe the heaters are off entirely. I know it's good safety practice to unplug heaters and such when not in use, but sometimes you forget. Once I was running out the door, passed the silent, cool heater, and, just as I was leaving, heard it switch on. You should never leave space heaters running while unattended; it's a serious fire hazard.

This should be a good floor heater for people with average sized rooms, who aren't annoyed by noises, and who are very, very careful and not forgetful.

Honest reviews on Ambia Ach-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater

Shipped quickly....I bought this to heat quickly a finished part of my garage that I use as my man cave...love the detachable nature of the one side to be moved up to 3 feet from the unit. The unit heats quickly an area where two or so people sit for a short period...I don't use it to heat the entire 500 sq ft area...just the area I sit in.

good purchase for me.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The concept of the Ambia ACH-120 Portable Two Zone Ceramic Heater is ingenious. A dual-module heater where one of the modules detaches and can be moved up to 6 feet away from the base unit? What a great idea! The heater also generates a decent amount of heat. But the big problem I have with it is the noise it makes. The fan itself is pretty noisy. And because it has a thermostat that cycles the unit on/off in order to maintain a desired temperature, the unit goes on/off quite frequently. To make matters worse, it's not a gradual on/off, either. It's a very abrupt on; and a very abrupt off. And when it goes on, there's a pretty loud click that accompanies that, too. I haven't owned a lot of ceramic heaters. In fact, I only have one other one. But that one has a fan that gradually slows down/speeds up in order to maintain the desired temperature. That approach is much less annoying, in my opinion. The noise this heater makes when it goes on/off even scares my cats. I really like the concept behind this unit. And it does a decent job of heating up a small room. I just don't like the noise it makes. One last point: It would be nice if this heater had more than just the one fan speed setting. A low/high option would've been a nice feature.

UPDATE (2/16/13): This heater has been retired from use because of two reasons. 1.) The right unit only works intermittently now. It became a crap shoot as to whether or not the right side would work every time I turned the heater on. Sometimes it would. Sometimes it wouldn't. I felt like it was unsafe to operate the unit. 2.) My wife discovered that while the heater was running the plug got incredibly hot. Not just warm, but HOT. We never plugged it into an extension cord or power strip; only a grounded wall outlet. But the plug got so hot it was almost too hot to touch. Again, it seemed like a safety issue. We already disliked the very noisy fan and the loud clicking noise it made when it came on. The safety concerns were the last straw. I would recommend staying away from this heater.

used on my kerosene reddy heater. Fit perfect, functions perfect, quality of product was good. Upon arrival I was expecting some low quality knock off, but it was just as good quality as the original manufacturer's part.
