I ordered the Red Bar Style "Roosevelt" 8 ounce popcorn machine for our soccer league concession stand this past August. I had done a lot of searching to try & find something that would fit in to our budget but was still of a commercial grade. What a GREAT find this was! The machine is great, pops the corn quickly, cleans up very easily & the drawer in the bottom for the unpopped kernels is wonderful! I also ordered the popcorn portion packs from Discount Tommys (several times now) as I didn't want to mess with measuring oil, popcorn etc. I was a little skeptical at how it would taste but I can honestly tell you popcorn became our biggest seller this fall at our concession stand. Customer Service is great! They shipped everything quickly & the packing was superb! I wold definitely recommend this popcorn machine for home use & concessions/church events etc!

I have owned this popcorn machine for a few months now and it has performed good. But if you are like me, you always get a little "smarter" after the purchase. For the price this machine is probably good as it gets, add a little more money and you have better made machines to choose from. It works for me right now but I would not expect it to last very long if it was used heavily in a commercial type setting. After I purchased it, I found a popcorn machine dealer here and looked at some other machines including a Paragon machine that was only a little bit more money than this one. The fit and finish and materials on the Paragon was much better and appeared built to handle heavy usage. This one is 860 watts which is good and only requires about 5 or 6 minutes to heat up. One issue I noticed is the 8oz kettle on this machine is not very deep. I saw another 8oz machine with a kettle nearly 1 inch deeper. I think the shallow kettle helps too many kernels to go flying about unpopped and end up in the old maid tray. I watched a commercial popper do its thing and there were hardly any unpopped kernels left. There are a bunch with this machine even with using the pre-portion packs. I even added weight to the flip up kettle doors and that has helped but once the popcorn gets popping good and the doors fly open, the uncooked kernels come a flyin. One other issue I see is how the power cord is attached to the kettle. This one is attached via a magnet and seems to easily pop loose when you turn the kettle up to shake the remainder out. I think there could be a better means of attaching the cord to the kettle. Again some of the other types I have seen have a heavy duty flexible cord permanently attached. My unit was made in China according to the box it came in and I think it is good for the Home Theater and occasional use. My next machine will probably be a different brand from this one. Again it has performed good in my home theater with occasional use, but I have doubts about taking it to a function and cooking popcorn for 200 people.

I bought this popcorn popper about 3 months ago and we have enjoyed it very much. It is very well made and the price from Discount Tommy was great. We have ordered popcorn from Discount Tommy along with other items and we have always had great response. I would recommend this item for anyone who wants a great popcorn popper for a good price. It makes the best popcorn and everyone in our family loves it. It really made a great addition to our movie watching. It has all the features that you need and it also is very easy to clean and take care of.

Honest reviews on Great Northern Popcorn 6010 Roosevelt Antique Popcorn Maker

Received the poppcorn machine and it had one flaw. Spoke with owner and all was taken care of immediately. Actually I was taken care of more than I had anticipated. Excellent customer service and quick response time. The popper machine itself was the best buy for the buck. I have recommended this unit to several friends and relatives. I used to work at a movie theatre where we popped are own popcorn and one thing I know from experience is to get the oil hot, then pour in the popcorn and salt mix while the bar in the kettle is moving. This will increase your popcorn rate and not have to worry about unit jamming or having burnt popcorn.

Watch the sweep bar as it moves. If moved out of alignment with the bottom of the kettle when cleaning, readjust to leave about 1/15 to 1/8 clearance for best results.

First of all I've been shopping around for one of these machines for months. I've looked at the restaurant supply houses (TOO expensive), visited other websites (same too much plastic and too expensive), then stumbled onto "Discount Tommy" items here on Amazon. OK. I first had to get over making a purchase from a seller by the name of "Discount Tommy". Being cautious, I read reviews, both here on Amazon, and their eBay listings! NOT BAD! OK The Roosevelt 8 ounce machine with cart was just what I was looking for for my office staff and training sessions we host throughout the month of March. And the specs looked impressive. I even checked out the Great American Popcorn site the firm that actually manufacturers these machines. Solid data!

The unit arrived actually a day ahead of their delivery estimate, after literally being shipped on the same day I ordered it here! I thought that was a good start!

I lost office productivity from everyone for about a hour while we fiddled with a simply assembly, then, yep, fired it up with our first batch of GAP "pre-packs" also purchased from DT. Yahoo. That yumo popcorn aroma was everywhere.

Thanks. Good job. I am an office hero!

I used this tape to tidy up the installation of an Owens Corning Garage Door Insulation Kit (also sold on Amazon INSULATION GARAGE DOOR). This tape is the exact same stuff that came in the Owens Corning kit.

This is very, very sticky! It has a peel-off backing.

This is vinyl tape if you don't know what that means, think blow-up pool toys.

Made in USA.

As of July 2011, this is the same product as that sold by McMaster-Carr as item no. 77375A82 (they call it "Embossed Vinyl Insulation Tape; Highly conformable, this tape also has a pebbly, embossed surface that matches the surface of insulation. Thin yet strong, it's shrink-resistant, making it ideal for repairing insulation and water heater blankets. Tape has an acrylic adhesive. Temperature range is -25° to +260° F; apply at +10° to +100° F. Supplied on a cardboard spool.") However, I can't really say that the surface is "pebbly." McMaster also sells it in black.

Looked around for this tape locally and was astonished at the price, so checked out online and opted to go through Amazon. The tape was used for repairing the vinyl vapor barrier/insulation on our basement walls prior to our basement finishing project this summer and both the flexibility and adhesion properties are superior. The tape arrived within a couple days of order, so both the merchant and product are on top of their game.

I had some white vinyl faced insulation for a garage door and needed some extra tape to tape the joints. This was easy to apply and did the trick. Plenty sticky and seems pretty strong, although I didn't need it for its strength.

Works well in a ventilated or outdoor area. Throws out heat comparable to a small gas grill. Should get a lot of use out of this heater. Simple design means less crap to break. Use for fishing, camping or any outdoor activity which chilly air can ruin the fun.

When I purchased this, it had five 5 star reviews and one 1 star review. Unfortunately, I had the exact same problem as the previous 1 star review. When I lit the heater, it was fine for about a minute, then started sputtering and shooting flames from the front, and eventually shut off. I repeated several times, double checked the installation and operation instructions, and it still didn't work.

After inspecting the unit, I realized that a rivet was missing, which was allowing air to leak in, apparently causing the sputtering and flame. I was able to bolt it down using my own hardware and the unit works fine now.

Had it worked from the start, it would be a great buy. As is, I can't give a good review to something that I had to fix (and only hope stays functional).

Great heater for the money. I got it for working in my detached garage, but I found it is effective even outside on a 35F day while I was replacing my car brakes. I just got an exchange 20LB propane tank in the local (NY) liquor store for $22 and running! The unit also will work with smaller tanks like 5 pounds, typically not as convenient or cost effective as the classic 20 LB.

After reading many of the reviews on Amazon, I purchased this delonghi heater. I can't be happier with its performance. I believe the more positive reviews are a result of using this heater as it was designed to gradually maintain a slow heat in a small-mid sized enclosed room (say, 20x20 with 9' ceilings). If you want to quickly heat a large room with a blast of hot air, get something with a fan or turn up the thermostat.

We use this heater at night. It does such an effective job of keeping our room at a comfortable 70F (even at lower settings), that we have programmed our central heat thermostat to go down to 60F at night. Of course, the effectiveness of the heater is also dependent on how well your house is insulated.

There were some comments about the heater getting hot to the touch. Well, yes, of course it does it's a heater! But even at it's highest setting, the metal is not sizzling. It is well insulated enough that you can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable plenty of time for the occasional times you may bump into it. At lower settings this isn't even an issue.

Why an oil-filled heater? It produces a very gentle heat without drying the air like a conventional ceramic or electric heater.

Why the delonghi? Gentle heat without any sound. We purchased the Honeywell 7-Fin Oil-Filled Radiator Heater as well (they were out of stock of the delonghi), and while it heats fine, it creaks and cracks when you use it. I'm sure this is due to the metal expanding and contracting as it gets warmer and cooler. It's not a huge problem, but if you are a light sleeper, it may be an annoyance.

The only downside I can think of is the wheels. Doesn't roll well on carpet which is fine, we don't' move it much anyway. But overall, love the delonghi. We've had it for 2 weeks now and I hope it lasts this way for several years.

I purchased two of these radiator heaters last Fall and used them all through the heating season. They are wonderful. SO much better than any blower, convection, or ceramic heaters I've had and I've had them all. Our 152 year old house has hot water (boiler) heat so we're used to a system that doesn't blow and dry out the air but with fuel oil prices as they have been for the past few years we just can't see heating this big old house with our furnace. We have a woodstove to heat the major portion of the house but our bedroom and utility room are cold due to being away from woodstove heat and are both drafty rooms to boot. These heaters worked so well to keep those two areas perfectly comfortable without the drying effect of blower or convection heat. For years we've struggled with noisy, drying space heaters that caused much stress due to fire hazards etc. Contrary to what one review said this "Safe Heat" heater is truly safe. There are no serious fire hazard warnings on this item because it does not get hot like a convection or coil heater. In fact, you can touch the radiator itself and it would not burn skin. I wouldn't sleep with ANY other space heater on in our bedroom (which made for cold nights before we had these heaters) but this heater is perfect for just that. It is truly not a fire hazard if you set it in a place that is recommended in the book that comes with it and follow the safety instructions which mainly say not to put objects on the heater itself. The reviewer that said it took up a lot of space may have been treating this heater like the other types of heaters but it's not necessary. This heater should be treated as a "heater" for sure but it's not going to radiate the kind of heat that would set things on fire unless they were laid on top of the heater where the heat radiates up and I'm not even convinced that would set anything on fire. The footprint it takes up on the floor is very small.

It is a completely different heater from the other types of space heaters.

One reviewer said it's not "fast enough" to warm the room. This IS NOT a heater you would turn on and off whenever you walk into/out of the area you want to heat. It works with a thermostat and if left "on" at the comfort level you desire you practically never have to touch the heater again, unless the weather gets extremely cold in which case you would turn the thermostat to a higher level. We found that these heaters are very cost efficient to leave on with thermostat set to our desired warmth. It's the same principle as you use with whole house heating you don't turn your furnace off every time you leave home, you just turn the thermostat down.

I turn them down during the day and then up at night but leave them on so that we're not "starting from scratch" to heat up the areas.

Unlike other heaters that can't be left on safely without being monitored, this heater can (and to work efficiently SHOULD) be left on because it is NOT A FIRE HAZARD and works with a thermostat. The only real fire hazard issue is that it can not be plugged into an extension cord safely and the plug itself can get hot if not in a proper outlet. In fact, if there is a fire hazard with this heater it's the cord that is the issue not the radiator itself. The cord is long enough though that it is not a problem for us to put it where we want it and plug in properly.

I just turned one of these heaters on today and I'm as happy to have it as I was all last Winter. I can't say enough good things about these heaters. They have met and exceeded all of my expectations. Even the price I paid for them was remarkably good. I paid less for one of these heaters than I did my "ceramic dish heater" that for numerous reasons I was almost never able to use. I even love that it's on wheels. Easily moveable on my utility room tile floor.

There is just nothing bad to say about this heater. Exceptional is the word for it!

I own two Delonghi oil-filled heaters. I bought them a few years ago, used them intermittently, then put them in storage. When fuel oil bills skyrocketed, I brought them out to start using again.

What motivated me to start using them again was when bill for heating oil for my little house jumped to over $300 a month. Using two Delonghi heaters set on "low" for sixteen hours a day, it has dropped to less than $50. That's a $250 a month in savings, in the coldest months.

My experience has been that oil filled heaters work great, if you know how to use them. Oil filled electric heaters aren't just "plug and play." If you use them as recommended, they're powerful, economic and effective. If you don't, you'll have the problems people complain about in some of these reviews.

How to use 'em:

1) Always TEMPER them before use. A lot of people skip this step, but you shouldn't. To temper them, before using them in your house, plug them in OUTSIDE of your house, in a well ventilated area such as a shop or shed (or a basement, if you don't have a shop). Set the heat on "high" and turn the dial ALL THE WAY UP to the highest temperature. Then leave them for several hours. It's true that this will "waste" a little electricity. (Leaving it that way for 24 hours may cost you a couple of bucks). But it's essential to do this because doing so burns off the coating the manufacturers put on to prevent them from rusting in the warehouse.

The directions say to do this for "two hours or more." I've found that it takes anywhere from two to twenty hours to burn the whole coating off. Once it's gone, the smell is gone forever. IF YOU SKIP THIS STEP, your heater will smell bad in the house every time it gets above a certain temperature (and the coating starts burning off). People who complain about a bad smell are often unaware of this step, or haven't tempered their heater long enough. When it's done being tempered, the smell should be totally gone, absolutely no smell.

2) I had a friend who complained about how ineffective her heater was. It turned out she was trying to use it in a 400 square foot area, with the door open! And the area was uninsulated. And she was shutting it on and off to "save power." You have to use common sense. If the room is uninsulated, insulate it. If the door's open, close it. If it's too big, get two or three heaters. And don't shut them on and off.... leave the heater ON. See point 4 below.

3) Don't expect instant heat. Oil filled heaters are great at MAINTINING the temperature in a room, but It takes a long time for oil filled heaters to RAISE the temperature when the room is cold. (If you have central heating, turn it on in the morning for about 15 minutes to take the chill of off the air. Then turn it off and turn your oil filled heaters on for the rest of the day. If you don't have central heating, set your oil filled heaters on high for a couple of hours, then lower them to low once the place is warmed up.)

4) Once the room does get warm, leave the heater ON. My friend said she was shutting hers off after it got warm to "save electricity." Then she'd come back two or three hours later, find the room cold, and turn it on and complain because it took hours to heat the room up again. Don't do what she did. Don't turn it on and off, on and off. That's what the thermostat is for. To use the thermostat on any oil filled heater, turn the dial to the HIGHEST setting, wait till the room gets toasty, then turn it DOWN just till you hear a soft click. No further. After you do this, it'll come on whenever the room drops below that temperature, and will shut itself off when the room is warm. Using the thermostat this way saves electricity more effectively than you could, and maintains a warm room while doing so.

5) I've seen comments on these posting boards like:

"My heater had a bad smell for weeks." Of course it did -you didn't temper it. It was burning off a little of the coating each time it got hot. Start over. Take it out to a shed or shop, set up on high heat, turn the thermostat way up, and temper it to finish burning it off. Then there will be no smell at all. (If there is, you may have an oil leak, in which case, yes, return it to the place you bought it. But this is usually not the reason for the smell.)

"I took my heater out of the box, turned it on, waited four hours and it barely got warm, so I shipped it right back to the manufacturer." My comment would be, you were thinking of it as if it were a little space heater, the kind that gets burning hot to the touch. That's not how oil filled heaters work. They WARM the air gradually. They take time, when the room is very cold. They're among the best ways to keep a room warm and toasty economically, when used correctly. But you have to learn how they work and don't expect them to be what they're not.

Give them time, and learn how to use them, use common sense, and oil filled heaters will keep your home balmy and warm, using minimal electricity, and there will not be any smell at all.

Heater was bought for child's room. It seems safe and works well. The comfort temp feature was slightly misleading due to the fact that we thought we could change the thermostat on that function. Instead you can use the number thermostat that goes from 0 to 5. I guess we thought we could set the temperature to a degree like 68. Other than that we like it and we feel that it is safe for our child's bedroom. We will see how it is on the electric bill this Winter.

This is my 2nd Delonghi. Several months back I purchased the larger model 715T with the 24hr thermo setting. So far, very happy with performance of both.

I recently moved back to AZ. The winters are certainly not like back east or mid-west, but it is a area of higher elevation with winter nights in the 20-30s. The home is under 1000 sqf and I did not want to heat with propane at the current high price, (neighbor has filled their propane almost monthly) at about $475 per tank. My last 3 months for total heat, lighting and cooking has been $70, $105 and current bill for Feb at $77.

I use the larger DeLonghi unit in the front room-kitchen area, and the smaller unit for my PC office room. During the coldest nights I kept the larger unit on all night at low temp, then turned it up a notch or two in the morning. I'm fairly cold-blooded and prefer warmer to cold. This has kept me very comfortable. Granted, as some reviewers have said, you need to turn it up and let it get up to desired temp,(2-3 hr). This is the nature of a 'radiator' heater. But once up to temp, it will keep area 'toasty' for rest of day.

Other reviewers have noted a few problems that I have not experienced, (maybe I'm lucky or they just got a defective unit, which certainly can happen). I did not note a 'horrible' long lasting smell. With the smaller unit it did take a few hours of residue burn off, nothing horrible or irritating. The instruction manual notes all this. I was not annoyed by 'loud pops' when unit was going on or off. I did, barely hear it at times,(and I have excellent hearing). Have not had any mechanical or broken items nor leakage. Note: as a reviewer said, they got a slight 'burn' when touching, (the manual also notes as well). When on high the top of unit can get very warm to touch...but why would anyone assume less? It is a 'heater' folks. So let's consider that when using any such electrical device. Would not advise you to: let children play around it, nor do you want to curl your cat on it. But overall, by touching it you are not going to scald yourself. Smart advice: read the manual.

The larger unit I thought would be nice to have the 24 hr thermostat setting, I have only had to use it a couple of times, because after the unit gets to your desired comfort, just dial down a setting and move the thermo dial until the light comes on and it will maintain that temp. In fact, the smaller unit the 7707CM, has a '6' number setting dial that works just as good. This unit, (like the larger one) is also able to go to a 1500w setting, but I have only used it a few times on extreme cold mornings for a couple hours to warm room up a bit faster, then turn it back down to 500 or 700w setting.

So, for me, bottom line at present, I would certainly purchase another DeLonghi for my use. Very comfortable and cost effective. Open the box, remove it and 'pop' out the lock in place fold under wheels, plug it in and you are ready to heat. I felt Amazon price and fast free delivery were all pluses.

I admit, I got suckered into buying this unit because of the marketing and slick featureset. What a disappointment.

I am returning it as quickly as possible, and would probably avoid Delonghi products going forward. I was trying to get information on where to buy replacement filters from Delonghi USA (& Canada), the former did not reply to several emails (USA tech support), and the latter the Canadian support email bounced (no such mailbox). What a joke.

PROS:

Really nice & modern color scheme, graphite and silver.

Pretty blue LCD that displays everything you need to know.

Eco-friendly refrigerant

Side handles (because its very heavy)

3M Biosilver Techsystem

CONS:

VERY Noisy sounds like an old dishwasher when cooling in Water to Air mode (swishing noise, I am guessing the rotary engine cooling off using the water).

Water refilling to get optimal cooling (to get 13K BTU) is annoying & frequent (Tested on a very hot day I had to refill it every 6 hours), I would bet that most people would give up on this eventually. Without the water, this unit does 9000 BTU in air cooling.

Huge This thing is only portable due to the casters. Very bulky.

No Oscillating Louvers! The air is blown up in one direction, no choice.

No information on how (part#?) or where to buy the 3M filters that should be replaced once a year.

Heavy Perhaps I'm being picky here, but this thing is so heavy (128 lbs).

What I recommend instead: The Sharp CVP10MX, as most people here (Amazon) have had a great experience with it. I recommend you have a look.

I had a Sharp unit that finally gave out and when searching Amazon I found this new DeLonghi air conditioner with eco-friendly refrigerant. I have always liked DeLonghi products for their stylish looks and this air conditioner is no execption.

I have a metal roof with vaulted ceilings and when it gets hot the upstairs loft gets about 10* hotter than the rest of the house and since this is where I sleep I need some extra comfort. We turn it on around dinner time and put it in the turbo function that uses both water and air cooling to bring the temperature down and then when we get ready for bed we turn it down to the sleep function which is pretty quite for an air conditioner.

I like the easy to read LCD display and the super cooling with the water tank really helps get the room temperature down quickly. This is a solid unit that weighs about 130 pounds so the casters and built in handles help in moving it around. It has all the bells and whistles with 24 hour timer, auto/sleep function, turbo cooling and even dehumidifies. The R410a eco-friendly gas refrigerant was a bonus as I try to do my part to help the enviornment.

I currently own 2 other portable AC units (1 Sharp, 1 Danby...both waterless) due to the window's I have in the old house my apartment is in and this Delonghi blows the other 2 out of the water...no pun intended. I was skeptical about having to add water to this unit, but the level of performance it produces due to this is well worth it. This is now the only unit I leave on during the day for my pets while I'm at work...as long as I leave the doors to the other rooms open, it will keep my entire apartment cool even during the hottest summer days. My other 2 units couldn't produce the same results in tandem. 100% satisfied with this green machine. Gotta love Italian craftmanship!!! Anyone want to buy one of my old AC's?

I bought this air conditioner because I own a DeLonghi air conditioner which I bought in 1994, after 17 years, it still works fantastic, I have it in our guest room because it's a smaller unit but works with water just like this one but the older model with detachable water tank. After the summer season, I really clean it well, de-calcify it and it works tirelessly for 17 summers. I bought a Bosch air conditioner 5 years ago, it's as heavy this appliance but doesn't give the perfect cooling effect, it doesn't work with water just fan, and although it is supposed to cool a 45 sq.m room, it actually can just cool a small room, so it's now in the bedroom. Believe me, Bosch air conditioner is as loud as a DeLonghi although it works just with fan.

I have this DeLonghi PACW130E in our living room 52 sq.m, it really works wonder even in real hot summer days. I have to admit that it is loud, but I get used to it because it is efficient, it is quiet if the cooling is in the fan mode, so quiet that you hardly hear any noise. I don't mind filling the tank every 6-8 hours, filling the tank is easy, takes just few minutes. Since I live in Europe, there are stores selling DeLonghi accessories like filter, spare-parts, decalcifying liquid etc... The filter is expensive though.

I gave this one a 4 stars instead of 5 because it is loud. I would recommend this air conditioner to anyone who wants a real cool atmosphere in a hot summer day.

I had never heard of Haier Air Conditioners, and was desperate because of the heat. I paid 199.00 with 19 dollars shipping, opened the box and installed it in the window very easily. Outside temp was 92 with 90% humidity inside temp was 84 in my 23x 15 foot living room with 3 windows and 2 open doors. I put it in "Cool" mode set at 72 degrees. In 2 hours inside temp was 72 degrees with a flood of water pouring out the back of the AC to the outside.By the time "Dangerous Catch" came on in 4 hours, I had turned it down using the remote control to energy saver mode and it cycled on and off all night long keeping the inside temp between 74 and 71 degrees. I had read the horror stories about this unit and thought I might have made a mistake ordering it, but that was not the case. This AC works well, it's not very noisy, It has a pretty big room to cool with windows and open doors across the room from the unit and nothing is in it's favor but it was up to the task and did what it was supposed to do !!! It was shipped 1/2 the way across the country and I got it in 6 days. I may buy another 1 just like it after watching this 1 close for a week or two. The remote control is handy too because the unit is located behind a big computer desk making it hard to really touch the front controls.

Usually I don't post product reviews however I rely heavily on other peoples' opinion of a

product when i'm looking to make a purchase.

Yesterday I purchased this product from Walmart for several reasons.

Mainly because I have two 5000 BTU Haier air conditions purchased two

years ago that run year around and don't run up my electric bill nor trip

the breaker in my 120 year old house, also the packaging was impressive the box tells you everything, so i chose the 8000 btu because

the eer rating was 10.4 it covers up to 350 sf which is great and the price was less than $200. I also like that the vents rotate.

My bedroom was 95 degrees no kidding when we installed the a/c within

an hour it was down to 84 so I felt obligated to post to let others know

this a/c is a great buy for the price and will last thru many hot summers.

The fan is out of balance, causing the window to shake. The discharge grill is supposed to be adjustable, but it is so tight the flimsy lever is likely to break off if you try. The thermostat seems to sense the output air instead of the inlet air. The unit cycles on/off, on/off with the room still at 77* while the thermostat is set to 70*. It does a poor job of broadcasting the air into the room, so it is cool right in front of the unit but hot across the room.

Honest reviews on Haier ESA408J 8000-BTU Room Air Conditioner Energy Star with Remote

My window is on the left side of the wall. I knew before buying that Haier units tend to broadcast air better to the right (most other brands to the left). (Helps to read Consumer Reports). The unit cools faster and better than any unit I've used before. It is a touch louder, though. The thermostat seems to read the temp of air after it is pulled back into the intake so if the fan cycles off it will be off a few degrees. As soon as the fan restarts the temp reading will immediately readjust. It does a fine job of cooling a difficult room. If you need a quiet unit or one that cools more towards the left, pick another brand. It was under 100 bucks on clearance at a local big box store, so I'm very happy.

I'm not sure if all the units are the same but mine came without the metal piece that screws on top enabling the plastic piece to slide in and out. This prevents proper support to the window when closed down and the plastic is fragile and has already cracked. Also there's no drain hole. I had to remove the two screws at the back at the bottom in order to drain the water. Its almost impossible to drain holes without damaging some internal parts. Other than that the unit works well.

I am very pleased with the performance of this water heater. I have burnt up coils before, in just a few days, so I was reluctant to spend the money. I'm glad that I did. This heater worked fabulously on a 3 week trip to Peru at 220 voltage, and a week in Jamaica at 110, and is still going strong. It can bring water to boiling surprisingly fast. It takes up very little space in the suitcase too. I'm taking this baby with me everywhere I travel.

My wife and I travel 3-5 times a year. We both enjoy either tea or flavored coffees. Hotels and cruise ships do fine for delivering ready made coffee, but hot water is not always hot. By the time it goes into their thermos or pot, then is poured into a cold ceramic cup/mug, it is not at all piping hot! So, we either run water through the coffee maker without coffee and get that wonderful acidy after taste, or use the luke warm water provided.

This little travel pot is great. It is faster than our previous Frantz unit, and works perfect. The first dozen or so uses had a plastic tasting flavor, but we seem to have worked past that. Weight is not bad, size is minimal, and the piece nest together nicely for packing in a suitcase. The voltage can adapt to whatever country you are in, and we've never not been able to use it. Hotels, cruise ships, even bed and breakfasts. This unit gives us the flexibility to have morning or afternoon coffee at our leisure, and to have it HOT!

I looooove this gadget! It heats water real quick and it's very lightweight. I am a flight attendant and I fly international and in most foreign countries other than UK and France it is hard to find a Water Heater in the room. It's dual voltage so its a plus for me. I put it in a little puch and throw it in my suitcase and there we go. It's very lightweight and the cord wraps around it nicely. Also it brought a little 110 plug, how sweet. It's been already to Africa and Paris, not that you can't get a great cup of cafe au lait in Paris. But it's very convenient while I'm getting ready having a nice cup of tea or coffee. Haven't tried for soups yet,but I guess it'll do the trick as well.I totally recomend it.

Honest reviews on European Dual Voltage Travel Water Heater Kettle - 2 Cups

I bought it because i would be away from home on a third-world island for a couple of years. This item really doesn't have any viable competitors. So, i paid the exorbitant price for it, expecting at least the average electric kettle quality.

The first clue that it wasn't even average quality was that it came with a sticker saying something like, "This product contains materials known by the state of California to cause cancer in laboratory animals..."

It did have a strange chemical smell to it, which was also in the water i heated in it, but i thought it would eventually go away with use, which it did. ...probably, because i drank all of the chemical residues involved. :^)

Since i didn't see anything really comparable to it on the market, and i was busy getting ready for my trip, i decided to take my chances with the cancer causing chemicals, as we do daily with so many others...

After a couple of months of daily use though, i've stopped using it, because the internal bottom surface of it, which looks kind of like grey paint, began to chip, and dissolve those chips in the water i was heating in it for my tea.

So, especially considering the incredibly high price for this piece of junk, i would not recommend it, for either daily or occasional use...

We have this unit in our 40' Motor Home and it has been a life saver on cold nights when we were staying in Yellowstone National Park. It is simple to operate with a remote and warms the whole motor home easily. We had one problem after years of use and Dimplex walked us through the replacement part procedure. Really nice people to work with. The fire looks real and it's a joy to sit and watch. No noise what so ever. I would recommend this electric fireplace to anyone.

Although the shipper damaged this item (as it was arriving at my door), the seller shipped a new one and we now have heat in our mountain cabin. The flames are very realistic, and the built in heater does a good job on a good sized room. I like the fact that the heater directs the warm air down to front of the flame display and gives a very real feeling that the flames are authentic.

I bought this to be the center of a custom fireplace mantel I had built. If it had looked cheap or fake, it would have ruined the whole concept of my custom built tuscany look mantle with custon stone surround. It looks great and very realistic. I am very happy with this. The remote is very convenient.

I have had this Dimplex electric fire place heater in the past and used it continuously for 8 years. A small circuit board failed and it was unable to be repaired.I then contacted the Dimplex company to buy the same one only to find out that that Model DF3003 had been discontinued. I checked out Amazon and I was lucky to find that they had this model . My only problem was that they asked $ 300.00 more than the selling price so I had no choice but to pay the price. I still have my other unit and will somehow find the circuit board and have it repaired and keep it as a spare or sell it on Amazon.

I bought this product a year and half ago. The product worked good until I needed to get a new wick and lower roller due to roller breakeage. And then the problem started. Called Envion customer service and ordered the two items. When received, the wick was almost an inch wider then the old one, to the point that it rubbed the sides of the unit. The rollers arived as two upper rolers and not one upper and one lower. Called back talked to a supervisor who promissed to send the corrected items. Today the new wick arrived. It is the same larger size as before The rollers still has not arrived. This is going on two months and I still can't usr the unit.

Envion customer service is very poor.

We bought this for our nursery b/c it is difficult to regulate the temp in our son's room. We kept it on low heat/humidify, but one problem is w/o an auto-shutoff, it would get so warm in the room that we would have to turn the unit on and off throughout the night to keep the temp decent. We only used it for 2-3 weeks before we returned it and bought an auto-shutoff unit and separate humidifier. Within that timeframe, our electric bill went from $50 a month to $116!!!

Another issue is the heat and humidity kind of work against each other: the heating unit is on the bottom and the humidifier is on the top, so when the cool mist comes out, the heat that's rising seems to evaporate the mist b/c it never actually feels 'humid' in the room (and it's a smaller room).

For the price, I definitely would not recommend this product it would be better on your wallet to simply get an auto-shutoff unit and separate humidifier...

Died with no replacement parts available. $125 down the drain. Worked we'll until now, but it seems a bit overpriced for what it does

Honest reviews on Humidiheat Heater/Humidifier

This is our second season using the Humidiheat humidifier/heater/air washer. We researched quite a few humidifiers last winter and we're very happy we settled on this one. We use this in our bedroom and it has proven to be more than adequate. Our primary need was for a humidifier, so the fact that this is also a heater and air washer are the icing on the cake. To compare the air purifying qualities of this appliance to that of a stand-alone air purifier would be silly, but the fact that it does clean the air to some degree is impressive for what this is.

The humidifier uses a wicking mechanism. The "wick" rotates vertically and the moisture it absorbs from the water container then gets blown into the air by the fan. The controls are easy to understand and you can use just the heater or just the humidifier, or both together.

The water container holds enough water for easily a 24-hour period if you run the humidifier constantly. You can simply top off the water container each day, but eventually you need to empty it and clean it because the water does get cloudy. This, I assume, is from the impurities in the air that get trapped on the wick and then deposited in the water as the wick passes through it. The wick is easy to remove for cleaning and can be washed by hand or in the washing machine. You can order extra wicks from the manufacturer.

All in all, the Humidiheat does everything it says it does and at a very fair price.

I purchased a dual-zone King sized Chilipad about 1 1/2 years ago. Previously I would often waking up sweating at night, even if the room was cool. The Chilipad has helped significantly. I generally sleep cooler, and wake up less.

Unfortunately, this a great idea in need of some further engineering and refinement, and I am not so happy with the quality. After 1 1/2 years of use, here are my observations:

-The pad never quite gets as cool as I would like. After a couple of hours, its noticeably cool. But I wish it would get a bit cooler. Sometimes when the room is too warm, the unit cant keep up and I still wake up hot.

-The lights and controls on the cooling units need to be thought out better. I would be much happier with a simple on/off switch for maximum cooling... without the bright lights and the loud beeping. The lights on the top of the cooling units are extremely bright; I have to place a shoe or something on top of each unit in order to darken the room. The unit beeps quite loudly every time you turn it on or make an adjustment, which is distracting if someone else is already in bed sleeping. To set the unit for cooling, you have to first push the on button, which beeps loudly, then hold down the temp button for a few moments til you get to the lowest temp, and then you can finally set the temp. Its an unnecessarily long and loud process. If the unit is bumped when its running then it shuts down and resets, and you have to go through all the button pushing and beeping again.

-My pad recently developed a leak, which caused a big wet spot to form. I spoke to Becky in their customer service department, and she said that LEAKS are NOT covered under their "2 year warranty". She says that if it develops a leak, even under normal use and during the warranty period, you have to pay $90 for a new pad. So I paid the $90.

-One of my two cooling units recently stopped cooling. It would power on... bright lights, loud beeping and everything... but it would not cool. As a result, one half of the pad would not work. I had to ship the cooling unit back to them for a repair, which was completed promptly and it works fine now.

I hope they re-design this product in the future and fix some of these issues. When its working right, its pretty good. In spite of my frustrations with it, I would probably buy it again. I think it has the potential to be a great item if they come out with a higher quality version.

I have been using the chili pad for about a week now, after reading a pretty good review on gizmodo I decided to give it a try.

It advertises itself as being able to reach a temperature as low as 46 F, the lowest It's gone is around 59, which would be fair if it didn't go up to 70 as soon as you lie down on it, and it takes around 2 hours for the thing to reach this temperature. So you can forget about turning it on as soon as you lie down. This is on an Air conditioned room at around 67 F.

I called the company and they told me that to use a really thick blanket to trap the air. I was already doing that. They also told me to make sure that the control unit had at least 24 inches on all sides of cleared space, which it did since I actually read the manual.

What made me a little angry was the Rep's attitude towards me. After I told her I had tried all of those tips, she instantly told me that they offer a 90 day money back guarantee. I kept telling her that I just wanted to see if I didn't have a faulty unit since some reviews on amazon stated that the unit worked pretty well and cooled really fast (including the gizmodo review), and again she insisted on the money back guarantee. I mean, I want to like the product and give it a fair chance but she assured me that it's working correctly even though its performance is sub-par.

So I have mixed feelings about this. If it would get near the temp its advertised to reach (46) quickly and maintained it, then I would rate it 5 stars immediately, but since the rep told me that my unit was working correctly without even attempting to troubleshoot it somehow or ask me to send it back, then it gets only 2 stars from me.

It's a very expensive product, at the very least I would expect decent customer service. I didn't get this for pleasure either, I got this for my mom who experiences hot flashes and can't sleep well at night.

Since there are no videos of this thing on youtube, i'm thinking of creating a video to film the Temp indicator and show that the whole setup is done according to the manual and demonstrate how long it takes to cool and how it does not reach the advertised temperature. I will update it when I have it.

Best Deals for ChiliPad - Cooling/Heating Mattress Pad

Let me start by saying, yes, I understand it's expensive, HOWEVER, in the 2 months I've had it, my heating bill is already lower, and I can see that with winter and summer heating bill savings, it will end up paying for itself.

The temperature control is fantastic!!! If your body heats up at night, the chili-pad will cool you down, and if you cool off, it will heat you up. It will heat or cool to the temperature you set it too, so you stay comfortable all night!

I really LOVE the dual zone. I sleep at 73degrees (winter temperature), and my girlfriend sleeps at 80. We both sleep ALL night in a deep, restful sleep. Both of us can set our own temperature to whatever makes us comfortable.

Review I read before I bought this product talked about the 'noise' made by the fan from the control unit.

After turning both sides on, I could not believe that anyone would complain about it. It's barely even a whisper!! I put the two control units at the foot of my bed, and it sounds like a small fan on in an adjacent room. There is a separate remote for each side, so you don't even have to get out of bet to turn it up, down, off, or set the sleep timer.

They say to use distilled water, and it holds a surprisingly small amount of water. You have to top the water off about every 2 weeks or so.

My dog and cat also sleep on the bed. I was slightly concerned about what their claws could do, but I turns out that the tubing is well protected inside the chili-pad so no worries about the pets!

This product has FAR surpassed my expectations!!! I work nights, so I can't wait to see how cool it keeps me in the summer, while I sleep during the day! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a better more restful sleep!!!!

Honest reviews on ChiliPad - Cooling/Heating Mattress Pad

I have also owned my Chilipad for a year. Based on my experience, I would say the other reviews so far are accurate.

PROS

Definitely cools the mattress. The area under the sleeper still heats up but you can roll over and find a cooler spot.

Cooler sleep temp allows the user to run ambient AC slightly warmer and save on cooling costs.

Can work as a heating pad too.

Pad can be washed.

CONS

Noisy (about the noise level of an ocillating fan).

Bright control unit lights, which can be irritating in a dark room.

Works better when new, cools less efficiently as it gets older. Cooling temp never reaches as low as advertised. Lowest temp depends on ambient air temp might not get below 70 in a very warm room.

Weird pressure points, you can definitely feel the tubes inside the pad.

Bottom line: It did not eliminate my insomnia and night sweats but did reduce their intensity. I recommend combining the Chilipad with a cooling pillow for maximum effectiveness. Would I buy this again knowing what I know now? It's expensive, but yes, probably.

I bought this product less than a year ago and was stunned to find that it was leaking badly. Had I not encased my very expensive new mattress in plastic as I did when I first purchased it a year ago, my new mattress would be ruined and full of mold. That's a lot of loss to bear for any consumer. Most people do not use plastic around their mattresses, so for most people, having a product leak like this, could be catastrophic. I sleep alone and don't do gymnastics on my bed. No pets have access to my bedroom. I have treated this product with kid gloves from day one (I did not even wash it when it first arrived for fear of damaging the tubing). I even use a mattress pad over the Chilipad just to give myself added protection between myself and this extremely expensive product. I am well under the weight limit and can't think of any reason whatsoever that would make this product leak.

Like most people, I do not wash my mattress pad as often as I do my sheets, so there was no way to pinpoint when this started. It may have been leaking all along to some degree, and I just didn't notice it as the mattress pad on top of it was absorbing it until it began leaking badly enough to seep through and leave everything wet. I was horrified as I took apart all my bedding and found that everything was wet beneath me (including another protective sheet I had around the plastic that encases my mattress)! The plastic around my mattress was wet and that means that my new mattress would have been destroyed had I not had it encased in plastic, and after experiencing their customer service, I would have been left to my own devices for that as well!

They do not cover leakage of their own product! What good is a warranty if it does not cover any leaks, which is a huge issue! After reading some of the other reviews regarding this exact same issue, I am truly horrified that they force us to buy a new pad! Because my mattress has memory foam inside, and becomes insufferably hot, I felt hostage to having to shell out the money or live with the heat (and lose the huge investment I made in purchasing this unit). I paid nearly $700.00 for this contraption and they leave you on your own if it leaks! That's ludicrous!

The icing on the cake was the mold that had been slowly growing all over this pad that I have owned for less than a year and was extremely careful with! There is nothing acceptable about this situation as it is a serious health hazard, and after reading other reviews with people stating that they are having the exact same issue as well, the company should have already gone back to the drawing board by now and rectified this issue (as well as cheerfully refunding the people who have had this problem, sending them a new pad for free, and praying that they don't sue)! God only knows what laying on this mold has done to my health! They act as if it's a mere inconvenience and have the audacity to ask you to pay for a new pad!

The above is my personal opinion on this product. I would not recommend it under these circumstances. Condensation is one thing, but this kind of leakage can actually be dangerous. Either reinforce these pads with safer enclosures or use tougher, flexible, silicone in place of what is currently being used (better still-do both). This should have been fully covered, (and with this many people complaining about leaks, they should have already gone back to the drawing board on this).
