The side flaps for the windows are flimsy for such a large unit and the heat is not as warm as I would have liked even on a really high setting. I expected it to be like those units that are in hotels....LG should charge less for this product just for poor heating quality alone

I bought it for the heating feature but am disappointed that it doesn't shut off at the desired room temperature as with the cooling feature. It draws electricity when not needed.

The a/c works very well and seems to remove humidity fine. I have it in an area about 210 sq ft so that's what my recommendation is based on. The heater does not get very hot, so if want to use it as the only heat source ,you better settle for a smaller area than recommended. I use a space heater with it as needed. Also won't do very well in a very cold area is my guess.

Honest reviews on LG 7,000 BTU Window-Mounted Air Conditioner with Supplemental Heat

Unit has a problem with the digital controls. When you set the shut down timer which is settable from 1 to 12 hours the temperature setting will slowly advance to a warmer setting. If you do not set the shut down timer the rest of the controls function properly and unit cools and heats just fine.

LG has sent someone out and changed the control module but that module functioned the same as the original. I'm currently waiting for LG to research the problem as the timer was an important feature for me. I'm guessing but I bet all units of this model have this flaw.

This is my 4th GoldenRod heater purchased in the last 15 years. My first was actually 15 years ago, and is working today as the day it was installed. These heaters are proven and perfected. In my opinion, there is no better safe or cabinet heater on the market. Whatever your use, this will be your one and only purchase. These heaters last forever!

Works very well and doesn't overheat. Features a removable plug end that makes it a lot easier to thread through the exterior opening on my safe. Keeps humidity low and my guns nice and dry. I use this and silica gel moisture absorbers and have zero issues with rust or pitting on any of my firearms. Excellent purchase and looking forward to years of service from this unit.

I've owned this unit for less than 8 months, including the winter. It was installed in late fall and seemed to work well. Now that hot summer temperatures have arrived, it has stopped functioning properly. It comes on, runs, and cools quite well in the morning. However, in the afternoon when outside air temperatures often surpass 100°, it stops cooling. With the thermostat set as low as 60°, it will turn off the compressor even though room temperature is 75°, 80°, or even 85°. The filter and coils are clean, the air intake/output unobstructed, the fan set to Hi, the mode set to Cool, and there is no ice buildup, yet the air is not being cooled 80% of the time. I've contacted Frigidaire and will update this review after they reply. In winter, it worked well as a supplementary heater.

UPDATE: I finally received a response from Frigidaire. I had to tweet my problem to their attention because they never replied to my contact via their website. Here's what the representative said:

"On behalf of Frigidaire, I welcome the opportunity to assist you in resolving your concern.

"As both a representative and a consumer, I certainly appreciate and understand your frustration. While we expect that our products will meet and even exceed our consumer expectations, the experience that you encountered is unacceptable and not typical of the quality products that we produce day in and day out. Because we stand behind our products, services and valued consumers like you, we use interactions such as these as a way to enhance our quality and overall operations.

"At this time and based on what you have described it is best that an Authorized Service Professional diagnose the issue for you. Below I have provided a link that will assist you in locating local technical assistance.

This unit installed easily and works very well. Carton arrived a little damaged, but the unit seems to be fine. Although it is considered to be a secondary heat source, it heats my insulated barn (340 sq ft) just fine, on its own with temperatures dipping into the 20's currently.

Amazon does not stand behind their products for more than 30 days. So if you are planning to make a large appliance purchase do so from a brick and mortar store like Lowe's or Home Depot. At least then if there are problems down the road they will stand behind the product. They did not stand behind this unit when I had problems one year later.

My Frigidaire unit appeared fine upon delivery. I bought it for a room under construction, so the unit was not installed for six months. After the installation the a/c worked, but the unit did not provide any heat. This is an air conditioner with heat model, so I was surprised that the heat did not work. I hired an HVAC contractor to diagnose the problem, and I watched as he carefully removed the casing and opened the control board. There we found a damaged wire and a cracked casing. This damage was most likely caused in shipping and was completely undetectable upon delivery. It is the result of being dropped. You would have to take the machine apart to detect the damage.

I followed up with Frigidaire and with Amazon, the "store" that sold me the unit. Frigidaire offered to pay for the part but not the labor, and told me that every unit is tested before leaving their warehouse. They were clear that the problem occured with Amazon.

So I contacted Amazon, who said...."I'm sorry to hear your Air Conditioner didn't work out. Because more than 30 days have passed since you received this item, we can no longer accept a return. Our returns procedures states that within 30 days of delivery of your order, you may return most merchandise in new condition, with the original packaging and accessories, or any defective merchandise, for a full refund. Eligible baby items purchased from or fulfilled by Amazon can be returned up to 90 days after delivery.

I'd recommend consulting your owner's manual and/or contacting the manufacturer to see if the problem in question is covered by the manufacturer's warranty."

So beware of Amazon for appliances. Any future failure, even if related to their shipping or the unit being defective from the start, will not be corrected. They offered NOTHING to address this issue.

The product is installed and seems to work fine. I am pleased with its performance so far. BUT, while the online listing shows a weight of 97 lbs. (boxed, I assume) and the manufacturer's packaging shows a product weight of 88 lbs., the materials used have apparently changed. I was so shocked at how light the package was when it arrived that I challenged the vendor and ended up having witnesses present when I unpacked it (just in case). I have not thrown it on a scale but it seems to actually weigh about 50 lbs. As long as it works well, I don't care but be prepared for the surprise. The vendor reports that they have received additional comments on this issue from other customers.

Quickly warms my 225 square feet in no time on the lowest setting. I have every confidence that this heater would perform well in a larger area on any of the higher settings.

If you're familiar with convection heating, this is a very good value for the money that will be providing my heat for years to come.

For the misinformed, this is not a ceramic style heat (Not immediate). Rather this will warm the space over time with a much more natural warmth that will fill the entire space and not dry out the air. Great for people with sensitive allergies or skin where forced air heating (Ceramic/Electric Heating) dry the air considerably and circulate dust.

Bought this heater from costco about 1 week ago to heat our 18' x 20' living room, Not only doe's it do that very well, it heats the kitchen, hallway, and closest bedroom to the living room. we are going to purchase another for the rest of the house. Our house heater went out and cant afford a new one, don't need to fix it now. I would definately recommend this heater. we had bought one of those fake fireplace heaters they look great but took it back it didn't work anywhere close to the vorando heater for a fourth of the cost.

I recently purchased this for an office that is about 20' x 10'. When I first turned it on within 5 minutes the whole office area was heated. I had to turn down the heat to a lower heating setting (it has 3 settings) so the office area wasn't overly heated. The safety feature of automatically shutting off if it is moved or tilted is a really great feature. It would be nice if it had a remote control or a thermostat control to set a specific temperature but that shouldn't stop you in purchasing this little heating marvel. You don't need to point this heater directly at you for warmth. It takes the heated air and evenly circulates it throughout the room. I own a Vornado air circulator at home and use it during the hot summer months. It works great....that is why I purchased this product. It is basically the same Vornado air circulator only with a heater inside of it. It gets a 4 1/2 star rating from me...but Amazon ratings don't do 1/2 points.

Best Deals for Vornado VH110 Whole Room Vortex Heater

This is my second Vornado VH110 purchase in 6 months. I have bought electric heaters before from different manufacturers and none of them withstood the normal wear and tear as well as the test of time like these Vornado heaters. Most of the ones I got at the big superstores caught dust in the grill after about 6 months of use and ended up just giving up and dying or even starting to burn the dust and grime inside stinking up the room and causing them to sound like a small airliner is about to land. Needless to say I had to bite the bullet and buy another one, and then another one and so on. A friend turned me onto Vornado heaters. I have to say I have never seen a small size heater heat up my high ceiling room so well, yet it only feels warm to the touch. This thing is quiet and seems to be very efficient it doesn't seem to burn the element inside as hot as the other heaters, and yet circulates the air a lot better then the 2700 watt higher powered heaters sold at Walmart. I am very impressed with the engineering of these little marvels and will recommend these to my friends too.

Honest reviews on Vornado VH110 Whole Room Vortex Heater

The heater is pretty good; it works well but the fan speed is a little low for my taste (I wish it had variable fan speeds). Some other models allow the fan to run even when the heat is off with the thermostat all the way in the cool direction which would allow you to use it as a regular fan, despite the low fan speed. All in all, it's a good heater and unlike some other space heaters, the housing on this one stays cool to the touch even after running it for a long while.

I have an office/photo-studio that is in a converted garage. I use window air conditioners in the summer and a radiant heater in the winter. When our first cold snap hit my DeLonghi heater just wasn't cutting it. Parts of the 500 square feet room would be warm while others would be downright chilly. After some research I decided on getting the Vornado VH110 and I am very glad that I did.

My other heater is large and heavy while this one is surprisingly small and lightweight. I can place it inconspicuously in a corner of the room and it will silently and efficiently heat the whole place up. My other heater is also a 1500 watt unit but it's the Vornado fan and it's unique design that makes it would so well. I would encourage anyone who buys one to read and follow the directions as it has some safety features that are important to be aware of, such as the automatic shut off system in the case that it gets it's airflow blocked and tip-over protection that will also shut it off if it is tipped more that 10 degrees. I love my new heater and hope to be enjoying it for several years to come.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We moved into an older home that has no air conditioning, high ceilings, no insulation, and louvered windows. This is in the eastern edges of LA county, in a valley, where it gets pretty hot during the summer and occasionally other times of the year (it was 103 yesterday, for instance, a record high).

When we moved here I got a Whynter 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner with Heater (ARC-14SH) for my office, which is at one end of this ranch style home.

I'm a big fan of the Whynter. It worked fine in the heat, never quite cooling the whole room, but certainly giving a blast of cold air where I needed it. The room was at fault, so I don't blame the unit. In fact, later in the summer we moved it in the bedroom to supplement a far too small window unit. The room got downright chilly. It started cooling down and I moved the unit into our babies room, with the heater function keeping the room at a steady temperature throughout the relatively cool winter months. Now that its getting hot again, I was torn about moving the unit out of her room. She needs it cool in hot weather for the sake of all our sanity.

So, I was looking for an addition. The goofiness of our windows and lack of ability to do home repair projects tends to cancel out window units. This one looked like a good choice so I went for it.

Which do I recommend, this Honeywell or the Whynter? Well, both have 14000 BTU cooling, with equivalent cooling power, I look at other issues. And there's no clear stand out. The Honeywell is a bit smaller, and I the vent is more variable. Though, you can't quite enjoy the full force of it hitting you. Both units prefer to vent upwards. The vent on the Whynter just closes off, never getting a horizontal direction worth noting. The Honeywell does allow for more horizontal flow, but when you close the vent to focus it horizontal, it opens a gap in the back of the vent, with about half the power or more still directed upwards.

The big difference is in the air flow in and out. Both units have a standard sized intake and exhaust, but the Honeywell, for some reason, only comes with one hose and a window adapter with one slot. This creates a possible vacuum situation, where air is being sucked in from inside the room and sent outside, which means that air has to come in from somewhere else, a crack in the window or something like that. My office is old enough this isn't an issue, but it might create a problem for other situations, and some people highly recommend always using a dual hose setup. The Honeywell, again, allows for this, but doesn't come with the attachments for it. And the attachments are surprisingly expensive unless you're able and willing to patch together your own. The Whynter comes with two hoses and a window adapter with two slots, and caps in case you're not using one, leaving a one or two hose situation optional.

The window attachment on the Honeywall is fairly shorter. I only have to take off one of my louvered window panels, while the Whynter requires me taking off two. However, the Honeywell adapter uses pegs and slots to tighten in length. Unfortunately for those with nonstandard windows, like me, the pegs don't match up, and I have to jerry rig a way to keep the adapter secure in the window.

The remote works fine, and the display and buttons on the unit are pretty much the same for both units.

Which would I recommend. Well, again, the Honeywell is a bit smaller and that might be an issue. It also seems to handle water a bit better. The Whynter has a water tray and plug that's terribly inconvenient. Too low to put a bowl by, too high to really drain the inside pan. Have to tip it and finagle it. Fortunately, we live in a generally low humidity environment, but on those rainy days in winter I was having to empty the Whynter every couple of days, taking and lifting it into the shower.

But the Whynter does have that heater. So, there's a bit more bang for the price.

I like both and am happy I don't have to pick between them for my own use.

ADDED: Got pretty hot here the other day, had the air conditioner on. Was quite dismayed to see a trail of water coming from this Honeywell unit, leaving a puddle on my hard floor. Have no idea what was happening, as it wasn't leaking from any of the plugs, just coming from the bottom of the unit itself. I live in SoCal, so humidity isn't an issue, and if it's leaking because of that here, then I have to worry about how it will leak in higher humidity areas.

Two problems.

1) the unit had evidently been jarred significantly during shipping, as the metal grate below the top vent had come loose and was rubbing on the main fan, causing it to sound like a blender. I removed the grate entirely and things are much quieter.

2) Be careful and measure your window before committing. The window assembly will only expand so far, and it lacked a good 18 inches of coverage on our window. Luckily I had some leftover stuff from a previously failed air conditioner and was able to hack together something that worked. The little plastic screw thing is really not sufficient the old unit had sturdy wing nuts. Poor design here.

All that being said, the thing seems to be cooling the room well, which is the primary purpose. Too bad they couldn't avoid dropping it off of the loading dock or whatever happened.

Best Deals for Honeywell MM14CCS 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

Unit appears well-made compared to the other junk out there. Interface is slick, and remote is somewhat useful. Three problems:

Unit is LOUD, even on lowest fan setting. It is a bit louder than most window-mounted units, and is about the same volume as those fan coil units installed in cheap motels. I have to use earplugs, and others have refused to sleep in the room with it on.

Unit works, but no way it is 14k BTUs! Cools more like a 6-8k unit. I have a 480sf bedroom and on a hot day (80's) it takes hours to cool down the room. Granted I have high ceilings though.

Remote control works to turn unit on & off, and to set timer (a neat feature although very coarsely-implemented). I have yet to reliably use it for anything else. Basically in middle of ight when you can't take the noise anymore you can shut it off without getting out of bed.

Honest reviews on Honeywell MM14CCS 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

In preparation for forcasted hot weather, I purchased the portable AC to cool our living room where the family gathers in the evenings. The instructions for set up were easy to follow, and the actual set up took less than 15 minutes. When my husband plugged the unit in and turned it on, cool air came out for maybe 5 seconds and then the compressor shut down with a resounding thud. Now the unit blows cool air for 15 20 seconds every 5 minutes or so.

I bought this AC mostly because I am tired of struggling to install a window AC in one of my bedroom's high up casement windows that is 4"8" from the floor. I do not miss taking out the window, climbing a ladder outside, fooling with plywood and hefting it up, etc..

I bought this unit with 14,000 BTUs so I could roll it into larger rooms if we wanted to. But it primarily replaces a 5200 BTU unit for a bedroom.

My impression after 3 uses on hot/humid days:

it installs effortlessly. FYI, you have to screw the hose on at both ends or it pulls right out. Once you do this, the window kit fits easily in a rectangle casement window (slides left or right to open) or a standard up-down open window. Awesome.

the exhaust hose is only good for about 34" extension. So if the unit is on the floor next to a window that starts about 3 feet off the flooryou are all set. BUT if the window is high up like my casement window (4'8" from floor to bottom of frame) plan on having something to raise this unit upin my case a small table. I wasn't pleased about this as it looks odd and it makes it a little less portable as you need 2 people to lift or lowerthe AC is kind of awkward to grip alone, I tried. I don't want to drop a $500+ item. Its weighs about 70 lbs too.

It cools well. NOT super icy cold like the 5200 BTU window unit. But enough. Not thrilled but it's okay.

And make sure you vent this unit properly...i.e. make sure the air exhaust is completely clear of obstructions and it is not venting into the plastic window frame (I have replacement windows). It actually makes the frame quite hot. And the machine does not cool as well. There was a notable difference when I moved the exhaust more towards the center of the casement window. Keep it away from the edge.

Noise of operation is about average, just the same as a window unit more or less. It quiets if you turn the fan speed down but so far I have only run it on high speed

-No customer service. Not so far. I wrote to Honeywell asking about how I could get a couple extra of the plastic screws that come with the window kit because its a matter of time before I lose one. Their response was to contact:

AirTek International Corporation Limited

Fax: +852-2559-0699

Email: info@honeywellaircoolers.com

So I emailed. Three weeks ago. Nothing yet. Not counting on hearing from Hong Kong. I wasn't pleased Honeywell's US branch doesn't step up here.

Overallwe will get by with this unit. I would have considered another US based brand if I knew the customer service was not US based and they fail to respond to email.

The cooling is ok, I expected better for 14000 BTUs but honesty, my old Kenmore window unit from Sears got it colder in less time. The relief of not having to struggle with installation is my prime reason for keeping this unit. Otherwise, not sure I would go for it.

I have used this heating core many times and it does the job. But recently, I was baking multiple large cake layers and used my Wilton flower nail for some of them.

The flower nail worked much better! I put it under the parchment paper, with the point sticking up through the paper. (I always use parchment, greased on both sides, esp for chocolate cakes which are notorious for sticking.)

The flower nail didn't deform the cake -no hole to plug -and cooked the center just as well. It was easy to remove by flipping the layer onto a wire rack. I also always use insulating strips around the outside of my pans (from Wilton and others) to slow down the outer edges while the middle catches up, resulting in more even tops and more moist outer edges.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

this product works just like described but I wish I would have found out before I bought two of them that a flower nail will cook the inside just as well when placed nail up in the center of cake.

Best Deals for Wilton Decorative Preferred Heating Core Bakeware

This core is great, it conducts heat to the center of the cake, thus allowing the middle to cook before the edges burn. However, the instructions say to fill it halfway with batter. This is too much, you will end up with a very large center piece. Instead fill it just a little higher than your cake batter in the rest of the pan. This will give you a "plug" to fill in the hole the core left. Using a product like Bakers Joy (oil and flour in one) will make removal of the mini cake inside the core much simpler.

Honest reviews on Wilton Decorative Preferred Heating Core Bakeware

This item is necessary for large baking pans over 10". I was skeptical at first to use it, but I did because it was recommended. The cake came out perfect and the cake inside the heat core fit perfectly in the hole of the cake. I baked a 12" x 18" cake in 45 minutes! The heat core is also very easy to clean.

This core is remarkable. It is so easy to use, just fill it with cake batter and insert it in the cake pan. Pour the remaining batter in the pan and large cakes come out wonderful. This heating core allowed by daughters half sheet cake to come out perfect.

This air filter is well done, the problem is its density that decrease the airflow by good 40%. IF you have a smaller AC system or 2 story house, you will find out soon that this filter does cause much less cold air coming out and may even kill your whole AC system. I am exchanging mine for less dense ask for 82% instead of 95% filter for better air flow.

Haven't washed it yet. The house has less dust and the air smells better. I'm going to add some balsam oil to the corner after I wash it to scent the house for the holidays.

Best Deals for Electrostatic Air Furnace Filter - Silver Metal Frame - Permanent

I chose the "I Like It" rating because it is better than just "OK." But I don't "love it." I would like it better if the MFR used stainless-steel screws to hold it together as in the more-expensive gold model rather than rivets, so I can take it apart easily. I presume it is effective but I have not had it long enough to know. I don't like that there was a long delay before they manufactured it for me considering it is a srtandard size. And it is somewhat expensive.

I tried calling the phone # on the package (800-766-9633), but got a recorded message telling me to call another number before 6PM EST. It was just after 3 PM PST; lame. I then tried using the "Contact Us" form on their website , but got a "too long" message when I tried to submit even though I only wrote a few sentences. Double lame. So I submitted my parts query via email to the sales dept, which was the only direct email address listed on the site. Hopefully sales passes my email onto customer service.

This isn't Big Trama, but it is enough of a bother to knock off two stars.

UPDATE: I had an email from Fire Sense/Well Traveled Living waiting in my mailbox the next morning. They apologized for the faulty part and said they'd ship a new part out immediately. Indeed, I had it within the week. Thx guys! Add a star.

The cover was very hard to put on and take off, requiring two people. However, the worst problem is that when the cover is on, it crease something of a sail effect and the slightest wind will cause the heater to blow over, unless you have it tied down. This results in damaging the top of the heater.

The cover is thus basically worthless.

If you went to the trouble of purchasing a patio heater, you might as well get a cover. We have all seen those rusted heaters sitting in someone's backyard. Why not spend a little and preserve your property?

It is easy to assemble. You will probably need a step ladder or a chair. The first couple of times you don it on the heater, you might find it to be a bit difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy. It fits like a glove.

This cover is of great quality and fits as if it was made for this heater. Somewhat difficult to get on due to the height of the heater but is worth the effort in the midwest to keep things from being exposed to the elements.

right now our husband and i are using this little baby to heat our entire house which is not a mansion but is by no means small. my husband is on the war path about the cost of oil and refuses to use our burner. i'm not saying that the bedrooms don't get chilly (the way our house is designed is most of it is on one floor and the bedrooms are partitioned off from the rest of the house by a series of doors), but the common areas in which we spend the most time are toasty warm. i tend to get hot so i leave the stove on the lowest setting most of the times and that's enough to warm the house. it's a good looking piece of "furniture" and doesn't detract from the room. it eats about a bag of pellets a day on the lower settings and is virtually no work. it stays lit without any tending, reignites easily once it has been turned off, and only requires a vaccumming out every day or so to collect the excess ash. if you buy one, which i recommend, you need to buy the ash vac with it because trust me you will be using it and you don't want hot ash going into your regular vac..
