I liked my little Windchaser a lot.
It was a tad on the noisy side... but compact and very toasty.
It made my entire downstairs room warm and welcoming from its home beneath my desk.
But now it has up and died after one year of use.
I'll miss it.
Will I buy another one?
Not sure. It was warm and comforting during our time together.
But I'm looking for a longer term relationship.

Reviews of The Oringinal Keep It Hot Microwaveable Hot Plate
I had received two of these a while back and decided to give one a try as we were having Homecoming at our church today and I thought it would be a nice idea to keep the pot warmer longer (we all agree the concept is a good one).
With that said, I removed the HOT ROCK from the never-before-opened packaging (identical to the one depicted here on Amazon) and commenced to microwave the HOT ROCK MICROWAVEABLE HOT PLATE -PER INSTRUCTIONS for 3 minutes.
3 minutes is exactly halfway between the recommended setting for my oven (three ranges depicted on the back of the HOT ROCK depending on the wattage of your oven).
Before it finished my oven began making a horrific noise.
The magnetron is blown! Oven is Kaput! And is a nice one that is probably two years old at best.
I certainly would never put one of these in any microwave that I wanted to use again. Mine is blown and does nothing but make noise and not heat. I have been through all of the troubleshooting available on a Sunday and it all points to big fix that I feel should be done by the folks at HOT ROCKS.
So, where are those guys.
Nothing is listed for address or phone number in the brochure or on the box (other than imported by Books are Fun, Fairfield, Iowa.
I am trying to locate someone for some relief, but this site was the only thing I saw and would warn everyone against putting one of these things in your microwave.
The idea is great, but execution ? Executed my microwave.
ZERO STARS would be the true rating, but one is minimal.
But I am appalled at the asking price here. The original one sold at Walgreens for $5. Even with inflation since then, and being happy with it, I'm not sure I'd pay more than $10. I see a number of them on ebay for around $15 that might be bordering on fair. I don't think you need to hesitate to buy a used one, as long as there is no obvious physical damage I don't see how it could wear out functionally.
Overall, I recommend this.
Of, course the heat slowly goes out of the stone, unlike an electrical product. But if you are going somewhere where there is no electricity, this is great.
I have put them in the microwave for 3 minutes, but never 30 minutes. Probably putting it in for 30 minutes will mess up your microwave.

We bought a couple of these a bunch of years ago, and have used them a lot over the years. Nowadays, before I go to bring home a take-out dinner (sandwich, Chinese, pizza, etc), I throw this into the micro for 4 minutes and go out the door. When I come back 20 minutes later, it's still very hot, and I put the package on top of it while I change and get the dinnerware and drinks together, set up the TV/VCR/DVD to watch something while eating, etc. Sometimes it seems the food is hotter by the time I'm ready than when I walked in the door with it!But I am appalled at the asking price here. I hesitated to use it at first because I was unsure how the granite could be hot without melting the plastic coating. This is not a problem. Once I tried it, I like it a lot. To love it I'd want a bigger plastic case surrounding the hot granite stone. Other than that, it's great. I've heard of people using it as a cooler too, but I have not tried that myself.Overall, I recommend this.

There is one place that I bring food for a large group of people. The place where we eat together, does not have electricity where we need it. I found one for a reduced price, and was so happy with this warming stone, that I bought a second one.Of, course the heat slowly goes out of the stone, unlike an electrical product. I have one of these things (bought years ago) that I use to keep tortillas warm after cooking, or to warm a plate of pancakes, and it's perfect for that function. But do NOT pay $40 for it! It's worth $15-$20 at most. Check your local Target or buy one off Ebay. (That price has got to be a bot error.)Sunday, September 28, 2014

I have about 10 portable heaters between my house and my office. I have several Honeywell models which are ceramic. I also have the Honeywell model 709 oil-filled heater.
This model, the 370 ceramic heater, is the best so far. The thermostat works the way it should. The older models that Honeywell makes like the 339, and 341 work well, but the thermostat doesn't work the way it should.
This new model, the 370, works absolutely awesome.
Don't buy the oil filled model. I did some detailed testing with thermometers and timers. The ceramic model heats the room twice as well as the oil filled.
I use all my heaters every day for about 6 months per year. Take my word for it, this model is great.
The plastic will smell for a few weeks though. That seems unavoidable with any model unfortunately. Just run it in the basement or garage for 15 minutes per day for a few weeks and the smell is gone.
Buy this model and you won't be disappointed.
In Closing, if you are looking for a heater, look no further, spend a little extra $$ and get this model it is worth it
After 3 winter i used i just cleaned it by opening it's panel from backside. Obviously it has lint kind of stuff clogged on top of ceramic element. I cleaned it now it's ready for 2011 winter.I recommend clean it every 2 years so it will not use extra electricity to heat it up room and work efficiently.
By pressing the button on the top, the heater will oscilliate. There is a recessed handle on the top for convenience. It is equipped with several saftety devices and has a tip-over switch that disables the heater if tipped over. An Alert Heat Indicator Badge on the grille turns from black to red when hot. A high temperature safety control prevents overheating, and a back-up thermal circuit breaker will shut down the heater if operated a higher than normal temperatures. Also, the heater runs fairly quite for the amount of heat it puts out.
I was impressed with the many features of this heater and how efficiently it performs. It puts out ample heat for the size. If it came with a remote, it would have received 5 stars. This is the only feature it lacks, and I would have preferred to be included. Great little heater!

We bought several heaters and tested them out over the last 3 years. We have 2 little girls and use them to keep their rooms at 69 degrees at night (Wisconsin has some long winters). The others we tried were complicated to set or program, but this one is easy as pie. push the center dial, turn to the desired temp and if you want eco mode. That's it!!!!! It heats their 13'X12' bedrooms with ease, I would even say it would heat rooms up to twice that size. The first one we bought over 3 years ago and it is still going strong. In Closing, if you are looking for a heater, look no further, spend a little extra $$ and get this model it is worth it

Hi, My name Is Mr. H. Patel and this is my first review on amazon. I never get a chance to write review. But i like this heater so much. I bought this heater from Walmart in clearance for $20 in March-2008. Since 2008 i am using it in 18 X 15 feet room and it's work's great. I am living in northern New jersey where winter is so brutal. sometime temp. drops down in -10 degree Fahrenheit. But this heater never gave up. It has nice thermostat control which turn on of in +/2 degree range of set temperature. Looks tiny but very powerful. also it has tip over safety feature works great. I have carpet in my all room. and i am putting this heater on small stool in corner it works for me.After 3 winter i used i just cleaned it by opening it's panel from backside. Obviously it has lint kind of stuff clogged on top of ceramic element. The Honeywell HZ-370 GP Electronic Ceramic Heater is "just the right size" if you are looking for a compact heater with a stylish design. It can be used for both floor and table top. I especially like the modern, streamlined body of this heater. There is a digital window which shows the room temperature, an energy saver button, a timer which can be set for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. Also, the temperature can be set from 45 degrees to 80 degrees, and the heater will turn off when that temperature is reached; it will be displayed, and then blink. It will then turn back on when the temperature drops below the desired setting. There are two heat settings 1500 watts on high, and 900 watts in the energy saver mode.By pressing the button on the top, the heater will oscilliate. There is a recessed handle on the top for convenience. It is equipped with several saftety devices and has a tip-over switch that disables the heater if tipped over. This little thing hold the temperature well. We are picky about the way we make our coffee and teas and temperature control on this baby is one thing we don't have to fuss over, especially early in the morning. In our opinion, this little gem has water ready to go at any moment whenever a caffeine fix is in order is priceless. We had larger models in the past and they all worked flawlessly. We like this smaller version so much we will get a second one for office.
Pair this up with a nice french/tea press and you are set!
*Took away one star for pricing, comparing it to larger siblings, this thing should be priced around $100 in our opinion.
I own several Zojirushi products and am please with all.
Have a happy tea day

For a long time I tried to find a way to get hot water without scum taste. I tried various kettles and water boiling devices all produced a water with bad scum taste aftera while. Zojirushi devices (I own two of them, different models, one is used at home, another at work) are excellent. Although there is an instruction of how to clean them using citric acid, there was no need to do it for last 6 months or so I use them every day. It also unbelievable convenient to have a hot water ready for tea at any moment. Or am I just getting lazy?Best Deals for Zojirushi CD-JUC22FS Micom 2.2-Liter Water Boiler and Warmer

Kind of hard to believe. My office is about 800 sq. feet. Using two baseboard heaters at max (which costs a fortune) I was still wearing gloves and a down North Face jacket at my desk. Plugged this baby in and the room went from 58 to 69 degrees in about 10 minutes. I have now turned off my baseboards. The whole room feels toasty warm. Wasn't expecting such instant gratification! Highly recommended.

I live in FL and will not get a lot of use from this but there are a few months of the year when it gets cold at night. This heater puts out a generous amount of heat and will keep you warm. It is loaded with features: High heat really heats up the room quick, low heat keeps a nice steady flow of warm air (which my boxer loves) and there is a high/low temperature setting that automatically turns the unit on/off. The remote is definitely a nice feature and the REALLY cool thing is the little hiding slot on the rear of the unit to store the remote. Kozy World KWN195 18,000-BTU Vent-Free Natural-Gas Infrared Wall Reviews
My plumber who installed this told me that I would need to set it on about 3 out of 5 to keep the detached garage apartment that I use for an office warm, which is about 450 square feet on a second floor with an unheated garage below. The other night it was 17 degrees and breezy outside and 1.25-1.5 out of 5 kept things comfortable. I have been using two electric heaters and the winter electric bills have been higher for the office than for my house on the same realty that has central heat and air, a washing macnine, an electric dryer, refrigerator, multiple TVs with every family member watching theirs and all sorts of other electrical devices. Further, electric heaters did not keep it warm, just unfrozen. Most winter days my fingers were darn cold on the keyboard. Now I look forward to winter days in the office. Why didn't I install this years ago? Great unit.
So I installed it myself in the basement (there was already a gas connection there from an old gas clothes dryer) in about a hour. No problem. The instructions explain everything, and list what you need to buy extra (a few pieces of "black iron pipe", some gas-safe Mylar tape to wrap the pipe threads, and a flexible gas appliance hookup line. I got everything from the appliance section of the local hardware store in one trip. Installation worked the first try. It lit right up on the first try, too. Wheeee!
Now we turn the darned thing on anytime we're working in the basement (like doing laundry) during the winter. Very easy to use, very reliable (I'm on it's second winter), and IT PUTS OUT A LOT OF HEAT!
I use this in my home in Ohio and it heats my two story three bedroom home without using my furnace at 14 degrees!!!
I have since installed them in my rental apartments to help my tenants save money on their gas. I am shocked that everybody doenst have these!!! They are so efficient and cost so little money and are a 5 minute installation!

I wanted a ventless heater that didn't need power. This heater is a better quality then the blue flame kinds. If you are shopping make sure you buy the thermostate model and not the hight medium low models. Its worth the extra money so the heater will turn off and on automatically. The non-thermostat models stay on all the time either high, medium, or low flame.I use this in my home in Ohio and it heats my two story three bedroom home without using my furnace at 14 degrees!!!

This heater blew a fuse twice in my office, causing my coworkers' computers to shut down and lose unsaved information. The darn thing comes on for 2 seconds every 5 minutes so I'm constantly cold. I would recommend one where you can change the fan setting to go at all times on low without the thermostat stepping in and ruining a good warmth. Also, doesn't turn off unless you unplug it so I have to crawl under my desk everytime I leave the office. No fun. Want to return but it's too much of a hassle.
This design sets the stage for a frustrating user experience:
By design, you must turn the thermostat to the highest setting, then WAIT FOR THE ROOM TO HEAT UP before fiddling with the knob until the unit clicks off, at which point you end up turning it up a bit until it clicks on (if it does). Its like trying to adjust your home's thermostat in the dark...just show me where to set the dial for 68 degrees and let me get on with my day.
when the heater is working as designed, it turns on for 30-60 seconds, turns off for 10-90 seconds, then repeats the cycle relentlessly and unpredictably until you unplug it, let it cool, box it back up, and send it back.
I want a refund, reimbursement for lost productivity, and an ice cream sandwich.
Greetings to whom it may concern. I purchased two of these HZ-315 ceramic heaters on January 28, 2009. Both vibrated across a smooth hard floor surface, very unsafe behavior for an electrical heating appliance. It was too costly to ship back even though they said they'd waive the return fee at customer service. Heater #1 failed on March 20th, didn't even last 2 months. I would advise to steer clear of this model, it's not the quality product you'd expect from a company like Honeywell and doesn't appear to be built to last either. The company I bought it from was very professional and timely, I did not contact them for a replacement. I wouldn't have wanted it anyway.

While this little heater creates heat it isnt what I wanted at all. First of all I realized that it has no safety features. If it tips over unto the rug, it just keeps going! A real fire hazard. Also also the front heat control knob says "off" you cant really turn it off without pulling the plug out of the wall, rather inconvenient. And as one of the reviewers mentioned its a real drain on a circuit, throwing the circuit breaker in the first day of use. Last year I bought a Pelonis for less and it was far better.Best Deals for Honeywell HZ-315 Ceramic Heater
Wow, what a fine example of terrible engineering. The only control is a knob that ranges from OFF to SUPER. To set the thermostat, you turn the knob to the SUPER setting. When the room reaches a comfortable level, you slowly turn the thermostat down until the heater goes off. This is the point at which the thermostat setting equals the room temp. At this setting, the thermostat will automatically turn on and off to maintain the selected temp. This design sets the stage for a frustrating user experience:

I switched from coffee to tea a few months ago, purchased this unit and am completely happy with it ... I can't recommend it highly enough. It's well made, ergonomic, well thought out, and a joy to use. The Japanese think of everything. A Japanese friend of mine told me that homes in Japan almost always have one of these units, or one like it. Now that I drink only tea, I can understand why.
The three temperature settings (well, four if you count boiling) are perfect. 208 is good for herbal teas, tissanes, and also the increasingly popular (and wonderful) Rooibos. That's also a good temperature for ramen, oatmeal, etc. 195 is good for black tea and also oolong, and 175 is good for green tea or white tea. Now, you can make gourmet tea properly with no muss and no fuss. Just get yourself some gourmet loose tea, herbal tea, or Rooibos, (all available from Garrett, Adagio, or Teavana), and a convenient brewer, like "IngenuiTea" from Adagio (Teavana also makes a good one that might be slightly better in quality), and you will be good-to-go! Your taste buds will thank you and so will your body. (The health benefits of green tea and oolong are well-known, and also Rooibos has 30-50 times the antioxidants of green tea, and no caffeine). My blood pressure has dropped 20 points with less caffeine (compared to caffeine in coffee, black tea = 20-25%, oolong = 10-15%, green = 5-10%, white = 1%, rooibos and herbal = 0%).
Buy a Zojirushi! You won't be disappointed.
UPDATE: I've now had this pot close to 5 years. There is now one small spot of rust about the size of a pinhead just starting in the bottom of the pot, but the rust spot has looked about the same for 6 months now and is not progressing. I'm starting to look into the possibility of replacing the pot, though, in case it does start to enlarge. So far this small spot has not affected the functioning of the pot in any way. It still does the job, day in and day out, every single day of the year. I will certainly buy another one when I need to replace it, the "cost per year" is much cheaper than replacing tea kettles that break too often, plus I have the convenience of hot water waiting for me every morning. I still love this pot!
This hot pot is pure Japanese. Everything has been cleverly thought out. It is well contructed and it works great. The panorama water level indicator is very cool. Don't worry about the non-stick coating, it's safe. There's a slight learning curve to using the pot, but it becomes intuitive very quickly. This pot is meant to be left on continuously, but you can shut it down for seven hours with the timer feature.
This is a great item with Japanese quality and inovation throughout. I highly recommend it.
I clean the tank about twice a year. We are lucky to have great water here and rarely get buildup in the tank. For 5 years this pot has kept hundreds of gallons of water at 208F without a hiccup.
If you need hot water in an instant, this pot is for you. My wife drinks 3 cups of tea a day. I make a cup of instant coffee every morning. That's approx 8500 times this little gadget has given us water and it looks brand new, inside and out.
I don't know of any other product in my home that I would call bullet proof, but this one is. Buy it, enjoy it for years

I have always been a tea drinker, and after my last tea kettle broke (again!), I did some looking and came across this pot. It's not a cheap pot, but I blessed the day it came into my house. I can't boil the pot dry--it would shut down anyway, and this was important. It really does dechlorinate, so when I start to taste a little chlorine in the water again I empty the pot out and refill it completely, which takes care of it. For as much as I use this pot, day in and day out, a number of cups of tea a day, I appreciate it every time I use it. The water is always piping hot (I really hate tepid tea) when I want it, no waiting for a kettle to boil. It has a 7 hour timer so it can be turned off at night and when I get up in the morning there's hot water waiting. I could wish it had been priced a little lower, but I would not want to sacrifice the quality for a lower price.UPDATE: I've now had this pot close to 5 years. Just bought this pot. It is amazing. I'm going to use it at work where I have to go down stairs all the time to boil water. I can fill this on Monday and it should give me on-demand hot water for three to four days right in my office. It makes it easier to drink more tea. This hot pot is pure Japanese. I bought this for my wife in lieu of installing an instant hot dispenser. I choose to write a review today, because for the third time in 6 years, I traveled to my parent's house to replace the under sink instant hot.I clean the tank about twice a year.
