We were looking for a small heater for our RV to take the chill off without having to run our furnace. This is a perfect little heater for us! It is small. Doesn't have a metal grate or any exterior metal parts that get hot. It is quiet! The heating elements never get hot enough to glow red. The "smart" thermostat controls the level of heat produced by the element and the speed of the fan. This little guy can put out up to 5,120 BTU at 1,500 watts. It has tip-over protection and a double level of overheat protection. We have a little RV dog and these features make it a very safe heater to have in our RV and we felt good about it being made in Canada! We can't yet comment on durability at this time.

It's tiny! When the package arrived, I thought it was far too small. I'd had another model that was already small and that one was about 50% larger. However, if I place the heater near where I'm working, it puts out a gentle stream of warmth that feels so good!

Wow. What a piece of junk. Now I know never to trust a handful of 'glowing' reviews. Dreadful purchase, this is going straight back to Amazon.

First of all, the packaging was awful (shipped by Amazon, who are usually much better), the retail box had been taped all around and shipped without double boxing, and with UPS's handling, didn't arrive in very good shape. I immediately began to wonder if someone had already returned this item before me, and that wouldn't surprise me. They most likely took it out of the box, plugged it in, realized what an overpriced piece of absolute junk this is, put it right back in the box and returned it immediately too, just as I am about to.

It is small, and very lightweight, all plastic. It tips over very easily then does not automatically shut off, probably a terrible fire hazard.

It has a fan which blows air EXTREMELY NOISILY. There is an on/off switch, and one simple dial for "Lo" and Hi", which controls the fan level, but not sure if it also controls the heating coil levels. Those coils, but the way, look like they belong in an old pop-up toaster, and are very flimsy looking. Even at it's lowest setting the fan is very noisy. And at medium, forget it, it's absurdly noisy, and rattly too, making one wonder if they are being "punked", or on "candid camera". Seriously, is this a joke??

When on it smells like dust burning. From the coils, no doubt. I have no idea if that would dissipate over time. I couldn't listen to this thing for more than one minute.

If I had bought this for ten or twenty dollars, USED, at a yard sale, I'd say I got what you paid for, and then donate it to the needy. But for the price this thing cost, no way, it's going back for an exchange for a different kind of heater.

If you work in an extremely noisy shop or garage, where you can barely hear yourself think, and just need to warm your toes with this thing under your desk, then it might be alright, but again, probably only if it cost ten or twenty dollars.

Look elsewhere.

The Bon Home Heat Lamp is not worth your time. We wanted this to work so badly because we have pizza parties quite often and thought this would make a great addition to those. Didn't heat up even enough to be hot on my hand. And the unit kept tipping forward when we adjusted the light angle/distance from food. I do not recommend this produt.

As a previous 3-star reviewer said, a majority of the 5-star reviews are questionable. Most of them have no other reviews but a single review for this heat lamp. I purchased this heat lamp regardless of my skepticism and the heat generated is no more than a 60 watt light bulb. My plan was to keep a Turkey warm for the night. This lamp has no impact. I'm returning tomorrow.

This heat lamp consumes 200w but most of the energy is convection (heat the air around it) and conduction (heat by contact). There is very little infrared heat which can be focused by the parabola in the forward direction. As a result you must use it at no more than ten inches away. So you can keep warm a very small dish of food. There is a lot of heat in the form of hot air escaping thru the vents on top and the "cup" like shield gets very hot.

On the other hand, you can use this heat lamp as a very small room heater if your electrical wiring cannot handle a regular full size 1200-1500w heater.

I've been buying stuff on Amazon.com for 4+ years. This is the first product that compelled me to write a review.

This product sucks and there is no way to avoid that with product liability lawyers involved. The R&D engineers likely started out with a good intentions, but they got slapped down by the lawyers. The manufacturer was forced to diminish the heat output / fire causing potential to the point that this product is virtually worthless.

If you angle the lamp so that the upper arm is completely horizontal you will get an 8" 9" heated area below. I had the lamp on for 45 minutes and it never gets that hot. The high angle shown in the advertisement won't heat up anything except the air directly around the heating element. You could get your food hotter using a cheap plastic handheld hair dryer from a drugstore.

If you want something to keep your pre-cooked chicken wings slightly hot for your drunken friends this thing may do the trick if they are drunk enough. If your guests aren't drunk, forget about it.

UPDATE April, 23 2013: I can't believe that people are still buying this product. STOP IT, IT'S JUNK. If you are hell bent on giving away your money for nothing in return, send it to me. I will send you a nice thank you letter than will give you a warm fuzzy feeling. My letter will give you more warmth than this piece of crap.

I am a corporate chef and bought six of these to keep pizzas warm from the time they came hot out of oven until purchase (normally under 4 minutes). Five of the six didn't work. I couldn't get them to turn on / stay on. What they don't mention in the product descriptioin is that while the light is adjustable it only operates at a limited angle too much of a bend in it and it shuts off automatically. We are not talking about a lot of bend here just a couple inches. The one that did manage to stay on couldn't even keep a piping hot pizza warm for the smallest amount of time.

There is no "glow" coming off them as depicted in the photo. They look like desk lamps but probably don't work as well. I have never return anything and have never written a review before but after this major flub I feel I have to. Save your money and your time and SKIP this product. I read the bad reviews here and was forewarned but there were also some good reviews so I went for it. Don't.

First of all the quality is great. Nicely built. Has a mechanical on/off switch which is essential if you are planning on placing this on a timer like I did. The problem I have with it is that it simply doesn't get hot enough. Does get warm, or maybe tepid. Certainly not like that right out of the dryer feeling.It does allow wet towels, placed on it, to dry faster.

I did buy another cheaper model for $68 at a local retailer because it had 3 settings. None were hotter. It also had an electronic on/off switch which didn't work with a timer. Its quality was cheap plastic as well.

Overall I would not buy another as the amount of warmness is not worth this price.

I love this product. The only thing that I would suggest to a buyer is to also have a vacuum sealer. I suggest this because the oxygen absorbers that are not immediately being used need to be revacuumed sealed or they will be useless. Have the vacuum sealer and a bag out and ready to use for the ones that you are not using right then.

This is my first go around at storing food this way so I have nothing to compare it to. For some reason I can see storing food this way as a little addicting. I'm already planning more projects.

I like the ease of the heater and it works very well. I thought I would "over heat" the seal but thats not the case. The heater itself is self explanitory as are the bags. Some folks use a clothing iron but this is more convenient and does a better job.

The oxy absorbers are packed 20 in a pouch. No issues there but as soon as you open them you have to work quickly. It's better to have 20 bags ready to go so you can pop the the little guys in there then seal them up. When it's done correctly, those absorbers are great.

All in all I'm happy with it. I can see the heater lasting for quite some time as long as I don't go cowboy crazy with it. It's a decent built quality all around but it's up to the user to take care of it. The bags are hefty but when sealed properly, then can be damaged easily. For example: I stored some pasta and one rouge piece was a little sharp. When stored in a 5 gallon bucket, that one piece damaged three other bags.

I will buy more bags but not another heater just because I won't have to.

The flames emitted enhances the ambience of my living room and also Ian pleased with the heat it gives out. I was surprised to find that this warmer is essentially identical to the warmer offered for sale by Mr. Coffee, at a much greater cost. I am unimpressed with the Mr. Coffee warmer, and this one, as they fail to keep a mug of coffee hotter than luke warm, especially when the mug is more than half full. If someone can point out a decent mug warmer, I would be grateful. Incidentally, these warmers should never be used as coasters as any water on the warming surface will find its way into the electric element and destroy the warmer this is yet another reason not to buy this warmer.

This heater is a piece of crap..The element burn out quickly as attested to my many poor reviews on other sites. When it did work for three weeks, it was noisy. Used this to heat a room for my elderly incontinent dog and the heater just quit, like so many others have complained of. It also DOUBLED my electric bill when it did work. Guess I don't have to worry about that now. At least it did not shoot out sparks like some have said. NEVER buy this horrible product. Look at what this person said:This heater was the determined cause of my total loss house fire. I thought the company would atleast help me find some where else to live, they seem to care. But, as of lately they are doing nothing.

This heater looked nice and worked great for about 2 months. It then burned out. I opened it up and saw that two wires had melted on the heating coil. This is very risky and I am lucky it did not catch on fire. PAtton has sourced this heater to the cheapest bidder. CHINA makes mostly junk. This is junk. DONT BUY THIS HEATER.

I bought this at Walmart a few months ago for $40 (on sale). It got us through a mild winter, but after only 3 and a half months of occasional use it started spitting sparks and smoking, filling our apartment with a horrible burning plastic smell. I was really disappointed since we haven't even had it 4 months and didn't even use it all the time. Definitely not worth the money we paid for it.

I replaced a worn-out 1 hour timer with this one which controls the Air conditioning (low voltage circuit) in a small chapel. It works well and doesn't have to be reset if your event goes over 1 hour.

I bought this timer for my garage, to keep my 2HP, 240V air compressor from coming on in the middle of the night when I forget to shut it off. Since the timer mechanism is sensitive to vibration, I had to mount it on the wall and NOT the compressor itself. I wired this single pole switch in one leg of the 240V circuit to save cost, and it works fine. It would have been better to use the 6-hour FF46H and switch both poles. It's a little tight in a standard small J-box; a deep one would offer more room for wires. It's too soon to tell how long the contacts will last in my application, but since I don't use it every day, it will probably outlive me.

Cheap Solo S2000 Extra Large Professional Countertop Convection Oven 1.5

I chose the Solo2000 because it was a largest of the reasonably priced table-top ovens. It was a bit of a gamble, because I'd never heard of Solo Ovens prior to this and there were no customer ratings when I ordered mine.

I would say the gamble paid off. The oven seems to work fairly well. It will (just barely) fit my large baking sheets. Also it will (just barely) fit a 14 in Papa Murphy's pizza. I'm happy with the results so far.

I did notice that the handle on mine was just slightly bent, not enough to be problematic, just enough to be noticeable if you look closely. I (knock on wood) so far haven't seen any problems with the glass, as reported by C. Cushing.

I have noticed that there's a bug in the the operation of the "Roast" mode, which is supposed to provide heat from both the top and bottom elements and operate in convection mode (fan on). The fan only runs when the heating elements are active. I would think it should run all the time. I haven't checked to see if the "convection" mode has a similar bug. Still, the results are quite acceptable for a table-top oven.

I do wish they built one of these that was 2 inches deeper and would fit a 16 in (family-sized) Papa Murphy's pizza. I would definitely upgrade!

If you're going to be like me and redo your kitchen in a stainless steel "industrial/commercial" style, understand that it also means any additional appliances you buy will have to match as well. As I'm quickly finding out, this means shelling out an extra hundred or so for the privilege of a stainless steel "commercial" finish…which is why I was surprised and grateful to a caterer/personal chef buddy of mine who turned me on to this Solo S2000 convection oven.

For a convection its pretty impressive --especially considering the price, it browns, bakes and crisps much like a regular oven –though it won't do justice to a bag of microwave popcorn or flash defrost a rock solid frozen steak but its not meant to. On the other hand, if you find yourself in constant need of a spare or second oven to handle real oven chores Solo is perfect. Ours has already handled two 13" lasagna pans way better and faster than I expected it to, and according to my daughter it also did a great job on her grandmother's brownie recipe. It's rated to have 1700w of power which in convection land is serious enough to prevent most anything from coming out half baked.

From a usability standpoint its very intuitive and oven like—there's three dials one for temp which goes from 150 up to 500, the second for modes which includes broil, roast, defrost bake and "convection bake" –which lives up to its name at least when it comes to brownies…the third dial is the timer which gives you up to two hours in 5 minute increments.

While there's more expensive "industrial grade" options that will also match my kitchen and needs, I also needed to match my budget and Solo delivers.

Alot of heat comes through the front window of the oven because it is not insulated like a regular oven. The sides and back seem to be insulated though and the oven is working well so far. Instructions are a bit hard to follow and seem to be written by a non primary english speaker and have quirky phrasing not compatible with the normal English language.

Looks great. Ready to use right out of the box. Seemed to work perfectly. However, within 2 days, the plate glass in the insulated door had slipped down into the frame of the door leaving an ~ 1-1.5 inch opening in the top of the door where the glass should have been. I was able to easily slide the glass back into place however I have no way to make sure this doesn't recur as it most likely will without being repaired. As this renders the oven unusable, I really have no choice but to return it. I think I will try one more as the oven looks like it is otherwise a good buy.

05Jul2013...Addendum. On closer examination, while preparing the oven for return shipping, we found damaged (bent) metal on the upper left side of the door adjacent the handle. This could explain the above occurrence. It also would mean that this item should not be resold without first replacing the door. I now suspect shipping damage.
