My daughter has asthma and I discovered this log at a conference. When it burns it smells terrific and she doesn't have one cough. In fact, none of us had sore eyes or smelled back after a backyard bonfire. It's the best log I have EVER used and now Katie can participate in bonfires!
I made this movie in 2012 when I worked for one of my video clients because I wanted the story to get out. The very gracious Earthlog owner sent us some free logs (very kind) because they weren't available yet in Northern California. But now they are here on Amazon and anyone with any smoke problems needs to give them a try. In your fireplace, inside or out, they are a delight.
I am buying another case. (I promise, they will make your garage smell good while they wait to be used!)

Cheap Conair Therma Luxe PTW1 Towel Warmer

I remodeled my bathroom about 2 years ago and did not have enough money in the budget for a wall mounted towel warmer rack. I got some extra money for Christmas this year and decided to start looking at towel warmers. As I was reading reviews I saw that a lot of people that had spent $100 to $300 on the wall-mounted towel warmer racks were disappointed in them because they only warm the part of the towel that sits on the bar. Then I happened across reviews for towel warmers like this one and they were very positive. This website had a great price compared to others I looked at so I decided to buy this one even though I couldn't find very many reviews for this model (in fact, only 1!)
I can truly say that for the money I am amazed. This unit is SO light weight I could definitely see traveling with it very easily. Its also big enough to hold my two large bath towels or 1 large towel and my pajamas, but it stores easily out of the way in my bathroom and the cord is long enough to move it around where ever I want it in my bathroom. It also gets my towels really hot. One suggestion do not put the towels in it folded up or they will not get heated evenly. Unfold the towel and just drop it down in there. The longer you leave the towels in the hotter they get and the more evenly heated they are. I also like the auto shut off at 50 minutes in case I forget to turn it off.
Overall this is a great product and I am very happy with no complaints.
1) PRE-BEDTIME: If you have just exercised and plan to go to bed after bathing, put the following items inside in the following order: robe on the bottom, then pajamas, under garments, socks, and towel on top. You will find the towel quickly loses heat in the open air as you are drying off (don't forget to close the lid to keep the other items warm while you towel off); the other items stay warm much longer than your towel. After turning the unit on to heat up, do your post-exercise stretches, brush your teeth, then shower or tub. The unit will have had plenty of time to warm your garments, and you will emerge clean, and warming your muscles after exercise. This "warm-down" routine is highly motivating to do the exercise, but it obviously also works if you are too tired to work out and just want to sink into bed warm and relaxed.
2) IF YOU PLAN TO GO OUT IN CASUAL CLOTHES AFTER BATHING: Put your slacks, shirt or sweatshirt, undergarments, socks, and towel in the unit and turn it on. Do whatever other pre-bath/shower preparations you wish (floss, brush your teeth), then shower or tub. Your clothes will be wonderfully warm once you've dried off, especially if you are going out in cold weather.
3) GIVE YOUR LITTLE ONES A TREAT: Put your toddler's robe, slippers (with soles on a paper towel), socks, and a favorite small stuffed toy on the bottom of the unit, then their pajamas and underwear topped by the towel (loading the unit can be done anytime during the day) and turn on the heat about 15 minutes before bathing them. Tub your little ones and let them know that a special treat is coming with toasty warm bedclothes to wear and a warm toy to hug while you read them a bedtime story. This routine may just make bath time less of a chore because of anticipating the warm towel, bedclothes, toy and story that follow. Just for safety sake, keep this unit out of the reach of children and unplug after use. I don't know that I'd try warming a baby's clothes because of their very tender skin.
4) I don't know how practical this idea is, but if you have time, warm the unit and your cold weather gear before going out in the cold: heat mittens/gloves, caps, neck scarves, socks and anything else that will keep you or your children warm during the winter. Remember that any metal objects (buttons, studs) on clothing can become very warm, so check those out the first time you try this. Fabric buttons should be OK. I understand that these units can be PUT ON AN AUTOMATIC TIMER, so you can set everything up the night before, and everything will be warming during breakfast, tooth brushing, hair and make-up.
I have my unit set to one side of a vanity plugged into a GFI outlet; it does not impinge on the sink at all. My bathroom is configured so that the shower is directly across from the sink, so I step out onto a bathmat and can reach over to the unit to get the towel and other items once I'm dry. This unit is stable and, of course, portable; e.g., if you just want to warm up your robe and pajamas--even a small pillow like a neck roll--in the bedroom (especially if you're under the weather) or watching TV anywhere. If you want to heat lightweight slippers, put a paper towel under the soles to keep the unit clean. The unit will fit on a night stand or end table and turns itself off automatically. Don't leave this unit where a child might knock it over or play with it.

I was very impressed with this appliance. With two large towels rolled up it heated them thoroughly in the time it took to take a shower. Highly recommend for everyone in the familyBest Deals for Conair Therma Luxe PTW1 Towel Warmer
I had high expectations of this product, based on some of the other reviews. My experience with it so far has been far less satisfying. The unit takes about 20-minutes to warm up. Who has time to take a 20-minute shower? I did connect it to a timer to overcome the heating time but still found the towels to be luke warm. If you try two thick towels, it only warms the outside. I've tried three different types of towels with the same result. Inserting a single towel, crumpled in the base works best, works best but still not great. I really expected warm towels--not towels with warm edges.Honest reviews on Conair Therma Luxe PTW1 Towel Warmer
This item has turned out to be quite handy. The interior is quite large enough to hold either two standard towels or one bath sheet, plus underclothes, socks and a robe. Do not be mislead by those products that say they can hold "20 towels," as they are referring to small hand towels as might be used in a beauty shop. My wife wanted a towel warmer, so with Mother's Day coming up, I started out researching free-standing and wall-mounted towel warmer racks/bars. Immpression of the racks found online was of spotty function or poor quality at unreasonable prices. Goal was a decent quality and reasonably-priced towel warmer, and found this unit. Seems great so far. Concept of dropping the towel (we don't roll it up, just drop it in) into an enclosed space to warm the entire towel makes more sense than a rack, and the unit takes up little space. Has one 20-minute heating cycle, which other reviewers suggested (and the instructions hint at) starting over for best warming. We've done both and either way seems acceptable to my wife. Styling is a little plain, sort of like a Rubbermaid container with a heating element, but then this is a basic-priced unit. Overall, my wife is pleased with it, which is what matters to me. Amazon purchase process and shipping was no problem; product arrived well packaged (Conair 'factory' box inside two other boxes -smart packaging) and on-time. Thanks, Amazon. Review of Triple Tank Top Propane Heater, 8,000-42,000 Btu
Works as advertised. It heats my 3 garage garage to a working temperature with no problems even when it is -20 deg F outside.
When running all 3 burners on their high setting, a 20 lb tank is good for about 10 hours.
Pros:
Lots of heat
Easy to use
Cons:
Noisy on occasion
Uses lots of fuel when running on highest setting with all 3 burners
No ignition start...I use a propane torch to get it running.
I'd buy it again but if I could afford it, I'd get a ventilated natural gas heater instead.

These logs are really, really great. Pricey, but great. The crackling is a real nice feature and if you put two in, you'll have a nice fire for about 3 hours. Stir it around a bit then and you'll get another 1/2. Soooooo convenient!Best Deals for Duraflame Stax Stackable Crackling 6-Pack 3.6LB Firelogs

Not the cheapest source of fire fuel, but easy to use, and provides a very enjoyable outdoor flame.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Duraflame Stax Stackable Crackling 6-Pack 3.6LB Firelogs
I read several reviews on these before I purchased this item. Some crackle like real wood some don't. No big deal. I use 2 logs as recommended and I get 2-2 1/2 hours from 2 logs. I have a pretty expensive fire pit I use them in and they don't put off an odor like others have said. I have burned about 50 logs and have a stock pile of another 120 or so. They are great for a cozy fire outside and to roast marshmellows. I HIGHLY recommend this product. Amazon is the only place I could fine a reasonable price. There isn't a store one in my area that carries this product. Plus they come with a 3 dollar off coupon that never expires in each box. So I keep the coupons in my van in case I do run across some. Great Price and Great Product.Sunday, October 5, 2014

Vornado VH101 Personal Space Heater Review
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $49.99

As a data processing manager, I have seen many office space heaters plugged into the same outlet as the person's computer. Most of these heaters draw 1500 watts at full power, risking popping a circuit breaker and shutting down their computer. Additionally, many of these 1500 watt heaters are poorly designed and melt their plugs over time. The Vornado VH101 Personal Heater draws either 750 or 350 watts, depending on setting. When placed on the desktop or hidden under the desk, it warms the user as well as a room heater without the above mentioned risks associated with excessive current draw.
It performs nicely in cool rooms. It's probably ideal for an office or cubicle in a modern, heated building where you just need a little more warmth in your personal space. The vortex action of the Vornado is impressive. Unlike heaters that aim the heat at you, the Vornado aims it around you rather than simply blowing it on you.
However if you are like me and need to heat a cold room, this is not the device for you. During the winter, the temperature inside my office when I open it up in the morning is usually in the 42F-55F range, and this heater completely fails at heating it up. I was using the heater in conjunction with my oil-filled radiator, with the Vornado providing some heat while the oil-filled heater slowly heats up. The tiny 200 watt Lasko MyHeat does an excellent job at this, but the Vornado does not. Used in this way, The Vornado actually takes nearly twice as long to bring my tiny office up to 67F as the little Lasko does.
However, I don't want to totally bash the Vornado. For people with other heating needs, it could be a perfect choice.
What I like about it:
The tip-over switch works well, almost too well. The first day I used it, I didn't notice that the rear edge was resting on a USB cable. It was enough to stop the heater from working. It's a good safety feature.
It appears well made
The heater is good looking, a shiny black with a silver grill. I don't really care how a heater looks as long as it works well, but it's a definite plus to have it be good looking as well as functional.
It comes with a three year warranty, longer than many heaters.
What I don't like:
The switches are on back, so you can't see them unless you pick up the heater and turn it around. Until you're used to it, selecting high and low settings without seeing the buttons can be tricky, especially with a non-heat fan-only option between high and low. It was a nuisance, especially on a heater without a thermostat.
The warning light that shows that the heater has failed to turn on because of a problem such as sitting at an angle is nearly the same color as the orange power light. It should be a different color, such as red. You get used to it, but there really should be a greater difference in color.
I'm knocking off one star for the design problems in a heater as well designed as the Vornado, they are unexpected and I'm knocking off a second star for its pathetic heat output.
General information about buying electric space heaters:
=============================================
I've owned and used electric space heaters since 1988, mostly DeLonghi oil filled radiators. When I recently began looking for a heater that would warm up a room faster, I was frustrated at the lack of hard, objective, facts about electric space heaters. Even the manufacturer websites often fail to mention or makes it hard to learn the most basic information you need to know, such as wattage ratings and warranty lengths. Not even Consumer Reports has enough information to really inform a consumer. Therefore it's up to us as consumers to share what we know. The rest of this review shares some of what I've learned.
In case you're wondering what heater I decided on to replace my DeLonghi, I didn't, at least not yet. I tried a Vornado PVH and a Bionaire BH1331-U, but I ended up returning both heaters. I'm sticking with my oil-filled heaters for now.
Basic electric space heater facts:
1. All electric space heaters are equally efficient. All heaters rated at 1500 watts output the same amount of heat, but may do it very differently. You have to choose the one that heats the way you need it.
2. Power consumption is determined by two things: the power setting you're using and how long the heater is actually on. Turning up the thermostat setting doesn't increase the heat or power consumption; it just lengthens the time that your heater will be running.
3. To reduce power consumption, use the lowest power setting on your heater that produces the heat you need.
4. An electric space heater will save you money only if you turn your central heating down or off and use space heaters to heat only the rooms where you need heat.
5. The only kind of electric space heater that's likely to provide adequate heat in a large or draft space is a radiant heater (not to be confused with a radiator heater, which is very different), but radiant heaters pose a fire hazard.
Don't take manufacturer wattage claims too seriously. When I used my Kill-A-Watt meter on six space heaters, I found variations of up to 200 watts between the claimed and actual wattage for each space heater. In most cases the actual watts were less than the claimed watts, but one of my DeLonghi's 1500 watt heaters turned out actually to be a 1600 watt heater.
Two crucial steps in finding the electric space heater that's right for you:
============================================================
1. Learn which heater is right for your needs. A huge percentage of complaints by reviewers about space heaters are due to reviewers buying the wrong type of heater for their needs. Your first step should be to decide between the basic types: Ceramic heaters with a fan, oil-filled radiator, micathermic, and radiant. First learn the conditions in which each one works best and works best and then select the type that will work best for your needs. There is no one single "best" heater for all situations. Each one has conditions in which it works well and conditions in which it's terrible.
2. Look at the warranties. Warranties on space heaters range from one year to five years. Delonghi and Soleus heaters that I've checked have one year warranties. Other companies, such as Bionaire, Honeywell, Lasko, and Vornado offer three year and five year warranties on many but not all of their models. If a company offers only a one year warranty on some models but a five year warranty on others (such as Bionaire), it raises question about the durability of the heater with the shorter warranty. However a long warranty is only as good as the company offering it. Read reviews to learn what experiences people have when their heaters die while still under warranty.
In most cases, you'll have to download the manual from the manufacturer's website to get the length of the warranty. It's a nuisance, but it's worth taking the time to do.
Don't let anyone tell you that any particular type of heater is "the best". The best type is the one that best suits YOUR needs. The best heater for me might be the worst heater for you. Some heaters heat up a cold room faster, some keep a room at a steady temperature, and some will work better in a large space.
Some questions you need to ask yourself before deciding which type of heater to buyWill it be keeping a room at a steady temperature? (oil-filled radiator or micathermics heaters might be best)
Will it be heating up a cold room? (a heater with a fan or a radiant heater might be best)
Are there children or pets who might be injured by touching a hot surface? (oil-filled radiator and radiant heater might be a problem)
Do you want to heat just a particular spot rather than the whole room? (radiant heaters might be best
Are you concerned about fire risks? (oil-filled radiator or micathermic heaters might be best, though no space heater is completely safe)
Oil-filled radiators:
These are my favorite heaters. These are the heaters that look like old-fashioned steam radiators. The oil retains its warmth after the thermostat cycles off, which is important if you want to keep a room at a steady temperature. The downside is that the oil takes longer to heat initially, which is why these heaters take so long to warm up.
I have two DeLonghi oil-filled radiators; I've been using one of them for 23 years, and the other is about eight years old. I love the heat they provide. It's steady, warm, with no noise and no drying out of the air like with some other types of heaters. They are ideal for maintaining a steady temperature in an enclosed room.
Oil filled heaters have a huge drawback, however: they are terrible at heating up a cold room. It can take an oil-filled heater hours longer to heat up a cold room than other types of heaters.
The US Department of Energy recommends oil-filled heaters as the most efficient, because the fins generate warmth even when the heater's thermostat cycles off. However this efficiency is only when the heater is continually on, keeping a room at a constant temperature. If you turn the heater on and off frequently, you'll lose most of the efficiency that's inherent in these heaters.
If you have children or pets, look into one of the shielded radiator heaters. I prefer the unshielded ones because they radiate more heat laterally, but the surface can get very hot and be a hazard if touched. DeLonghi claims that their shielded radiator heaters circulate heated air more quickly. Both of mine are unshielded, so I have no way of confirming that. My concern about the shielded radiators is that they would direct more hot air up rather than to the side, where I need it.
If your electric rates are different for different times of the day, you can use this to your advantage in setting your radiator heater toswitch on and warm the room from cold when rates are low, then let it provide steady heat when rates are higher.
A word of warning about oil-filled radiators: if one is poorly made or damaged, it can leak oil and permanently damage rugs and floors or even start a fire. Only buy from a reputable manufacturer and don't accept one that has any visible damage.
Ceramic fan heaters:
These are great at heating a room quickly, however many people including myself don't like the heat they blow. I don't mind it in my Vornado Personal Heater (375/700watt), which is located under my desk, but I thoroughly dislike it in the old Honeywell ceramic oscillating heater that came with my house. I much prefer the warmth that comes from an oil-filled radiator. Ceramic heaters can be most effective at quickly warming up a cold room.
Radiant heaters
Radiant heaters (don't confuse them with radiator heaters!) work by heating whatever they are pointed at rather than heating the air in the room. If you have a large, drafty space, a radiant heater might be your best choice, because it doesn't heat the air, only the objects and people it's directed at.
Micathermic heaters
Micathermic heaters work similarly to oil-filled radiators, except that instead of heavy metal fins filled with hot oil, micathermic heaters have thin sheets of mica that heat up. I've only had experience with one micathermic, a Bionaire BH1331-U, and found that it's exterior surface remained very cool except for a few very warm spots on top. There would be less risk of young children being burned by touching a micathermic heater than an oil-filled radiator. Micathermic heaters are slower heating than ceramic fan heaters, but are faster then oil-filled radiators..
Baseboard heaters
I have a Lakewood oil-filled baseboard heater I bought five years ago that has many of the advantages of a micathermic heater. It heats faster than an oil-filled radiator but has no hot surfaces and low fire risk. My Lakewood does an excellent job of heating my 12x15 bedroom.
However I have not researched baseboard heaters and only have experience with this Lakewood, so I don't know whether others are as good as this one. I was impressed that when I measured the actual wattages of my various space heaters, the Lakewood's actual wattages came closest to its claimed wattages of all the other heaters I tested. Lakewood unfortunately went out of business in 2009 and had a major problem with oil leaking from its heaters a few years earlier. Despite this, it's in many ways my best heater and has the lowest cost of operation.

============================================================
Best Deals for Vornado VH101 Personal Space Heater
I ordered this for my wife, who actually wanted a larger version of the same unit. After reading the specs and reviews I picked the EH1-0050-06. It Was for her cube at work and a larger one of a different brand had already tripped the circuit breaker and shut down a few computers. The IT people were not very happy. This one works great, keeps her warm and stays under the power draw to trip the circuit. She uses the fan mode when too warm and the heater when too cold. Perfect!Honest reviews on Vornado VH101 Personal Space Heater
My VH101 personal heater works great. However, shortly after running it for several hours it started to make a "clicking" sound which is very annoying. I emailed Vornado customer service about the problem and never heard back from them. We own a couple of other Vornado products that have performed well for us for many many years. Those units were made in USA. The VH101 was made in China. Even with the annoying "clicking" sound, I recommend the VH101.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Vornado VH101 Personal Space Heater
This little heater is perfect. It's quiet, it's compact, and it keeps me warm! What's not to love? I also like the built in safety feature, which is the little button underneath which, if the heater gets tipped over, or is even lifted off the ground, it turns off. Also, I like that the body stays cool regardless of temperature so it's not hot to the touch. The only potentially negative thing I have, if you can even call it that, is when I put it on the HIGH heat setting, it smells like heat... vaguely like hot plastic even though the unit is NOT, in fact, melting. I wouldn't trade it for anything, I am finally comfortable at my office. LOVE IT.Friday, September 12, 2014

The towel warmer installed easily and is very solid. It isn't cheap looking or feeling. It actually looks very nice. BUT I am disappointed at the warming ability. I expected the towels to be nice and toasty when I get out of the shower. But they are just slightly warm and really only right in the center where the towel folds over the bar. I put the towel on the bar the night before and have tried snaking it through the warming bars every way I can but the towel is still only marginally warm. So while it is nice to have and looks great in the bathroom I renovated, I am disappointed in the performance. If I had it to do over, I guess I would spend a little more and get a bigger towel warmer that would warm the towels up better.

We purchased the EdenPure 1000XL directly from the manufacture, BioTech Research (Canton, OH). It took twice as long as we were told to arrive and the remote did not work right out of the box. Within five days the unit started turning off and not coming back on despite waiting for hours and room temperture dropping to the point the propane furnace came on.
In order to get the unit to restart I had to turn the "power" button "off" and unplug the unit for anywhere from 5-20 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Only after our experience did I look further into online reviews of EdenPure products which are not favorable. I also checked into BioTech Research (Canton, OH) through the Ohio Better Business Bureau and saw that BioTech has had numerous complaints from customers with similar problems.
Viewers have been asking me about a space heater advertised in newspapers and on Paul Harvey's radio show the past few weeks.
It's the EdenPure space heater .... a heater so "advanced," it can supposedly cut your heating bill up to 50%.The cost: $400...four times the price of most heaters.
Our partners at Consumer Reports magazine have tested it and other heaters.
Is the EdenPure Amazing?
The results of the test of the heavily advertised EdenPure were not promising. The $400 EdenPure ended up at the bottom of the ratings. It was the worst performing of 20 space heaters tested.
Top Performing Heaters
Top rated: The Honeywell Electric heater HZ-519, for just $60. (It's sold by Home Depot and Amazon.com, among other stores, but it may be in short supply, due to Consumer Reports' review. Honeywell makes some similar models wtihout the digital display that you may want to consider.)
Also highly rated: The Holmes Quartz Tower, $60....and the DeLonghi SafeHeat Flat Panel, $80.
But even great men have flaws. Paul Harvey had been quoted as saying, "I am fiercely loyal to those willing to put their money where my mouth is." And therein, lies a conflict of interest.
Now, I have no way of knowing whether or not Mr. Harvey knowingly endorsed fraudulent products but it is utterly indisputable that he did endorse the main product of Suarez Corporation Industries.
You undoubtedly have never heard of SCI but if you were a regular or even semi-regular listener of Paul Harvey you would have heard him endorse the miraculous EdenPURE heater with its revolutionary "cured copper" heat exchanger.
SCI is a prime supplier to the multi-level marketing community. Some of the companies that make up SCI are:
Biotech Research
International Home Shopping
Lindenwold Fine Jewelers
U.S. Commemorative Gallery
Biotech Medical, LLC
Resource Partners
This list is a smorgasbord of overpriced, yet intensely crappy products. (Oh sure, they sell the Tempur-Pedic line of closed cell foam mattresses which are merely overpriced...you can pick up the exact same thing at Walmart for a fraction of their cost.) This company is a virtual feeding frenzy for multi-level marketing scammers.
But I am only going to focus on their most prominent scam product: The EdenPURE heater.
The EdenPURE heater is the most expensive 115-volt electric space heater money can buy, bar none, and it is marketed with, at best, half-truths and, at worst, blatant lies.
Compounding the problem is literally hundreds (if not thousands) of independent distributors, many of them not authorized resellers.
So lets get into the meat of the issue. Just what does SCI, through its Biotech Research subsidiary, claim that the EdenPURE can do? Here are some select pickings from their FAQ page:
Q. What is the EdenPURE Heater Quartz Infrared Heating System?
A. Our Heating System is a revolutionary zone furnace that safely and efficiently heats entire areas that need additional heat.
Translation: It's a portable electric space heater.
Q. How do the EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heaters Work?
A. With the advent of micro-electronic technology and the latest in infrared commercial quartz tubes, three solar copper furnaces inside the unit absorb the heat from these tubes much like a sponge absorbs water. The patent pending process of cured natural copper creates an innovative heat exchanger capable of absorbing heat like a solar sponge. It then safely exhales what is coined as "soft" environmentally friendly heat that is able to travel rapidly in relative humidity. The EdenPURE SOFT heat does not burn up the humidity; moreover, it employs the humidity as a vehicle to warm up large spaces quickly and efficiently.
EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.
Other heaters cause occupants to lose energy and force them to breathe dry uncomfortable air. The EdenPURE heater replicates the earth's sun process by electronically exhaling comfortable cost cutting heat without burning up your family's life sustaining oxygen in your indoor living space. The benefits of this natural solar process are revolutionizing the way we will heat our homes and help save large amounts of costly energy.
Translation: Let the BS begin. Taking it item-by-item:
Micro-electronic technology. Translation: It has a digital thermostat.
The latest in infrared commercial quartz tubes. Translation: Three 500-watt halogen light bulbs. Big woop.
Three solar copper furnaces. Translation: Copper pipe cut to length that surround the light bulbs.
Cured natural copper. Translation: Fairy dust & unicorn farts. There is no such thing as "cured" copper.
It then safely exhales. Translation: It has a blower.
-"Soft" environmentally friendly heat. Translation: More fairy dust.
-Does not burn up humidity. Translation: Utter nonsense, heaters don't dehumidify.
-Will not destroy life/energy. Translation: Utter nonsense for the mentally challenged.
-Helps to maintain healthy humidity levels. Translation: Utter nonsense, totally impossible.
-Other heaters cause occupants to lose energy. Translation: We think you are stupid.
-Replicates the earth's sun process. Translation: We think you are really, really stupid.
-Electronically exhales. Translation: We are doubling down on the stupid thing.
-Without burning...oxygen. Translation: Just in case you are an absolute idiot we are tossing this one in out of sheer spite.
-Helps save large amounts of costly energy: Translation: Compared to what? Plutonium?
Now back to the FAQ's...
Q. What makes the EdenPURE Heater "Healthier" than other heaters?
A. For one... the EdenPURE heater does not produce positive ions like other blower (dryer) type heaters.
EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.
Since the early 1950s scientists have suspected that ions play an important role in how the body functions and, consequently, in how we feel. Research has shown that an abundance of negative ions in the air we breathe is highly beneficial.
Conversely, scientists have found that if the air is charged with too few negative ions and too many positives, we become anxious, fatigued and tense. Positive ion poisoning has, in fact, been linked to heart attacks, aggravated asthma, migraine headaches, insomnia, rheumatism, arthritis, hay fever, and most allergies.
Translation: Wow. This is industrial strength BS at its finest. To me, this is holistic, pseudo-science mumbo jumbo that is ridiculous and claiming that other heaters produce positive ions is utter rubbish thrown out there for the slow-witted.
Q. How does the comfort of the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System is a state of the art system that provides the most comfortable form of heat. Unlike traditional systems, which may leave a differential of up to 18 degrees from floor to ceiling, the EdenPURE Heater System heated air, using infrared absorption, does not concentrate near the ceiling. Heat stays down and evenly dispersed in the area where you and your family live.
Temperature difference from floor to ceiling is minimal. In addition, the EdenPURE Heater System does not remove humidity from the air. It actually helps maintain humidity levels. The even heating and higher humidity permit lower heat settings with more comfort, less condensation on windows and less static electricity. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System does not use flame, fuel or any form of combustion. Therefore, the heat from the EdenPURE Heater is safe and clean free of any other type of pollution and does not use up the oxygen in the air.
Translation: Okay, well this is more crap served up with a very large spoon...maybe even with a funnel and a hose.
The EdenPURE is, despite claims to the contrary, a forced air electric space heater. There is nothing magical about what it does. Room temperature air comes in one end and higher temperature air comes out the other end. That's it.
Warm air rises due to a property in air called "convection." To minimize the natural process of convection the air in a room may be circulated. Ceiling fans do this quite nicely.
There is no heater made that removes humidity from air. It is a physical impossibility. Period. To remove humidity from air one must lower the air temperature below its dew point. This is called condensation. Think of the "sweat" that occurs on a glass of ice water. If water condenses on the inside of your windows it is because there is a source of excess humidity in the house...someone left the shower running...and the glass is below the dew point. The EdenPURE heater is totally incapable of maintaining ANY level of humidity. Winter air is dry. Go to NOAA and look it up.
Any properly installed heating system will not use up the oxygen of the occupied space. Again, nothing magical here.
Q. Economically, how does the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System is the most economical way to heat. In Midwestern Utility field tests for heating seasons, the EdenPURE Heater used an average of 35% less energy than conventional electric furnace/baseboard systems. Comparable results were found during comparisons with fuel based heating systems. Individual results, of course, depend on insulation values, local climate, and other conditions.
Translation: This is a pure lie. The most economical way to heat using electricity is with a heat pump. So, yeah, individual results depend on "other conditions." These (along with that old favorite, "individual results may vary") are what are called "weasel words."
Q. How much area does a EdenPURE Heater System Heat?
A. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 1000 Heater is a 1483 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 400 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 1000 square feet of well insulated space. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 500 Heater 900 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 200 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 300 square feet of well insulated space.
Translation: More nonsense. Heat loss for any given room in a house depends on a host of variables: Outside wall area, floor area, ceiling area, window area, door area and local climate conditions to name but a few. Matching a heating appliance without taking heat loss into account is incompetent.
Q. Why does the EdenPURE Heater System cost more than a space heater?
It is a furnace in every respect. A space heater only has the capacity to heat a small space (i.e. under a desk). The EdenPURE Heater System, like a central heating system, will heat an entire area evenly and efficiently. This allows the unit to be a supplemental source of heat. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System is safe. It will not start a fire or burn if you touch it. Because of the reduced energy consumption, and the unit's high level of safety and comfort, EdenPURE Heater System users agree that it is the best value available.
Translation: The EdenPURE is a space heater in every respect. It isn't a furnace. A furnace is designed to heat an entire home. The EdenPURE is not. Properly installed and maintained furnaces are safe, too. Duh. Too many EdenPURE owners are way too embarrassed by what they paid for it to say anything other than what a great value it is.
Q. Why is the EdenPURE Heater System safe?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System has no flame or fumes. Its safe, clean infrared heating elements provide the energy. Extensive testing at CUL (Canada) and UL (United States) has verified the safety of the EdenPURE Heater System. Due to its safe operating temperature, the EdenPURE Heater may be placed next to flammable materials with minimal safety clearance needed.
Translation: All appliances sold in the USA, including space heaters and furnaces, are listed with Underwriters Laboratories. Big Deal.
Q. What kind of Satisfaction Guarantee does it have?
A. We have a 60 day Satisfaction Guarantee. Our Return Policy: You can return or exchange any purchase within 60 days for any reason. NOTE: Items must be returned in the same box & packaging received by you with everything that was included in the original shipment.
Translation: Wow. Sixty days. So, when you discover that it doesn't save you a dime you are totally screwed. Nice policy.
The hundreds of other scam artists that peddle this device go even further with the "cured copper" BS by creating their own little urban legend about its "discovery." Here is the story that they peddle:
"'This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man named John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat. Jones had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes through an extensive heating process to give it special properties. ''After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet of copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room. ''Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones had a number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or radiation. He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story short, through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a heating source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most important consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final development of this infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating system in the world."
Translation: Pure and utter BS from start to finish. There is no such thing as "cured copper." It has no "special properties" other than to separate you from several hundred bucks. Take a little stroll over to copper.o r g and try your hardest to find a reference to it. It does not exist except in the minds of simpletons.
The final nail in this smelly little coffin comes from Consumer Reports:
"The unit was the second-lowest-scoring space heater we tested, earning only a 24 on our 100-point scale. According to the folks in our Tech department who tested space heaters, the EdenPure provided lackluster temperature control and was not particularly easy to use, What's more, it was pricey and lacked an overheat-protection feature (key for safety). The GEN3 models do have this important safety feature, according to BioTech Research."
Bottom Line:
If you insist on spending up to $400 for an electric space heater that's your business. But you can get the exact same result for around $30 at your local hardware store. 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts of heat regardless of how it's packaged and how much it costs.
And don't ever buy anything that multi-level (or network) marketers are selling, especially their "system."

We bought an Edenpure and were very disappointed. It does NOT do a good job of heating even a mid-sized room, and cost WAYYY too much. Save your money.Sunday, February 23, 2014

Whether I used a regular mop and bucket, my swiffer wet jet, or my hoover steam vac, I always ended up with a haze on my hardwood floors that I would clean off with a wipe or furniture polish. This is the first machine that leaves my floor shiny and without a haze. It is worth it just for that!!! I also like the job it does on my lineoleum. The first couple of times I used it on what I thought were clean floors because I had recently mopped them, I was surprised at how dirty the water was. After using this as my primary means to clean my floors (two maybe three times a week depending on traffic and what is going on in my household) I notice that my floors not only look cleaner, but also feel much cleaner on the few occassions when I am not wearing house slippers. This is so much better than the regular mopping.
I have read other reviews on the flip-it regarding water being left on the floor; when that does happen, I just go back over that section so that it will be taken care of. For the most part I don't care about a little water on the floor because I would have so much more if I had the mop and bucket or used my steam vac. I am sold!
The Spinscrub has the advantage in cleaning power. The spinning brushes do a better job on getting tile floors clean, especially rough surface tile. It's also more sturdily built feels more solid (although that sometimes does not translate into longevity). It's the one I use for large tile expanses, such as in the kitchen and basement. But, the 15 inch width is a drawback in tighter spaces, such as bathrooms.
The Flip-it excels in maneuverability perfect for getting around obstacles (such as the toilet). Although it lacks spinning brushes, it has the advantage of a cloth pad which does a great job on smooth surfaces. The heat also helps out, especially with sticky messes. It doesn't turn the water to steam, but clearly kicks up the temp (I believe the spec's say 25 degrees).
I found the best way to use it is to start with the cloth pad attached. That helps even out the water distribution and also helps capture crumbs, pet hair, etc. After one pass with the cloth attached, remove it and put in the scrubby pad. That helps get the floor 99% dry (smooth surfaces) or 90% dry (rough surfaces).
The cloth pad really shines (no pun intended) when it comes to hardwood or laminate floors. Does a far better job than the Hoover in cleaning and water suction. I don't use the Hoover at all anymore on smooth floors regardless of the size of the room. It may take a bit longer with the Flip-it due to its smaller size, but the end result is much better.
Both are about equal when it comes to disassembly and cleaning a few parts to take out and clean, but nothing major. Cleaning the unit after using it is very important to keep the crud out of the seals to prevent leaks and clogs. Both have a washable filter, and both require that you dry the filter before using it again (tip get an extra filter so you're never without a dry, clean filter).
I tend to favor the smell of the Bissell cleaning solution, but the Hoover stuff is pretty good both have a nice "fresh" smell. Both brands clean equally well, and are priced about the same. Lowes carries the Bissell brand; Walmart carries Hoover (at least in my area).
Bissell tends to be a nicer company when it comes to support. They offer replacement parts and supplies on their website at reasonable prices, and answer emails if you have questions. Hoover is not as responsive, and their direct-purchase prices are rather high.
One nit with the Bissell is that the cord is rather stiff wish it was more flexible. Also, the water cups (both clean and dirty) are smaller on the Bissell, so you need to fill-up and dump out more often than with the Hoover.
Regardless of which one you get, get one! You'll be amazed at the amount of dirt that wet mopping leaves behind. Once you start using one, you'll never pick up a mop again.
I like the idea that while it is mopping, the machine can also take care of the small amount of debris that I missed in my "pre-mopped" vacuuming. It does take some practice to get the machine to do the job right. Although I don't have the problem of puddles of water as other have experienced, I have other issue such as the cleaning pad kept sliding out. I find the maneuvering quite exhausting due to the squeegee design. Also, my finger gets very tired from squeezing the solution release button. I don't find the cleaning result dramatic perhaps because my floors are normally quite clean. The machine will not get to the wall edges so it won't eliminate manual laboring. I'm also not sure if the heating feature does anything to produce a cleaner floor since the water temperature does not felt very warm. After two days of experimentation, I decided that the machine is going back to the store. For light mopping, I am going back to my Swiffer Wetjet. It is cheaper, quiet, lighter, easy to use, and best of all, no cleaning up required.

I was torn between the Hoover and Bissell models each seemed to have good and bad points. So I got both, with the idea that I'd return the one that was less capable to do the job. I used the Bissell Flip-It Select for the first time tonight. I detest mopping, but with a combination of both linoleum and tile floors in my house, it is a must. So in looking for an alternative to mopping, I hoped for the best with this product. I was not disappointed. Vacuuming first with the dry vacuum side is an excellent alternative to sweeping the floor. After using the wet vacuum side with the heated solution/water mixture, not only was my bathroom linoleum (which had a thick build up of sticky hairspray) cleaned marvelously, but also my tile kitchen floor. The unit is lightweight and easy to use. The filter did get clogged with dirt and hair, but the sound of the motor changed when the suction stopped, so I unplugged it and cleaned the dirty wet/dry container and filter, put it back together, plugged it in, and suction was completely restored. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase after only one use. I will recommend it to friends and family alike.Honest reviews on BISSELL Flip-!t Select Hard Floor Cleaner with Heat, 7340
This machine is so easy to use! I love the option of cleaning my tile floors with heat or no heat, depending on the grime! The mop pad works very well on my sealed hardwood while the brush worked excellent on my grout! I didn't have to go over anything twice and my floors looked great when I was finished! The "flipping" action is also very easy as this machine is lightweight! I love not having to use a mop and bucket and its even better now that this product offers heated cleaning! I have carefully analyzed all the reviews (positive and negative) before deciding to buy this product in order that the right level of expectation may be set. My need is very simple. I have almost all hard floors in my house, either tile or hardwood. So floor keeping is a relatively low maintenance chore. I know Flip-It serves both as a dry vacuum and wet mop. Knowing that both dry and wet debris are going into the same place and I want to eliminate the messy task of cleaning out the wet gunk, so I opt to use the cleaner solely as an electric mop.I like the idea that while it is mopping, the machine can also take care of the small amount of debris that I missed in my "pre-mopped" vacuuming. Review of Honeywell Electronic Ceramic Tower Heater, HZ-3750GP
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $69.99

The Honeywell heater arrived packed within its own box within an Amazon box and was well protected. Getting started was as easy as plugging it in. All the features have little icons on the heater but you may need to review the instructions once to understand the icons. Pluses: the heater begins to warm immediately. Even the low power setting seems to generate heat for a small room. The oscillating feature is virtually soundless. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Minuses: While the temperature display is very easy to read, the actual temperature setting is like a toy. The heater does cycle off close to a setting but the displayed temperature is not very accurate. Also the temperature resets to 75 when the unit is turned off so your desired temperature must be reset every time the unit is turned on. Also, every button that is pressed creates an annoying "beep" that I cannot seem to turn off or decrease. Overall, this is a good basic heater suitable for smaller rooms.
Reality is: once the thermostat triggers the Honeywell heater to shut off at a preset 72 degrees; the fan stops immediately and the displayed temperature quickly rises about four degrees. As the unit cycles off there is no airflow over the temperature sensor so the thermostat is no longer sensing room temperature; it's actually sensing residual radiated heat from the unit itself. As the office A/C kicks in, actual room temperature drops from 72 to 66 but the Honeywell heater display shows 76 and won't cycle on because its temperature sensor is still responding to residual heat in the heater. At this point the thermostat was set at 72, the Honeywell temperature display shows 76, and the actual room temperature was 66. The only way to restart the heater at this point is to reset the Honeywell's thermostat to 78 or above. As the heater cycles on, the fan restores air circulation past the internal sensor and the temperature display indicator quickly drops from 76 to 66. Now the heater won't shut down until room temp reaches 80 degrees because it was necessary to reset the thermostat to 78 to get the heater to cycle on when the actual room temperature was 66.
This heater isn't a 'set it and forget it' affair. I found my office was consistently too cold, then too hot. This demonstrates a latent design defect where the temperature sensor is either located too close to the heater element, poorly shielded, or worse. Most thermostatically controlled heaters I've experienced, address this issue by continuing to run the fan for a couple of minutes after the heater element shuts off to dissipate residual heat and equalize internal heater temperature with room temperature so the thermostatic sensor is accurately tracking ambient room temp. I've already had two of these heaters, so it isn't a defective unit, its a defective design.
Your choices with this heater are 14 degree temperature swings with thermostat function, or switching the heater on and off manually. A remote control would be greatly appreciated since manual operation is necessary for temperature control. Note that competitive units INCLUDE a remote; my recommendation is to keep shopping until you locate a heater with a remote. (Ironic that a company that made its reputation for thermostatic controls can't make a thermostat function properly in a space heater.)
I'd speculate that similarly priced, thermostatically controlled space heaters would likely function as poorly as this Chinese-made Honeywell and I wouldn't be surprised to find they're all made in the same factory. In my opinion a remote control would be an infinitely more desirable feature than a poorly executed, wonky thermostatic control.

I'm using this heater to help regulate temperature swings in an over air-conditioned office. You would expect that having a thermostatic control would direct the heater to switch on and off as required to maintain a narrow range around a preset temperature. With this Honeywell, comfort requires manual switching because the thermostatic temperature control functions poorly. When the heater reaches +1-2 degrees above the preset temperature, the fan and heater element shut off and the thermostat should then be monitoring room temperature to determine when to restart the heater, (at least that's how it's supposed to work).Reality is: once the thermostat triggers the Honeywell heater to shut off at a preset 72 degrees; the fan stops immediately and the displayed temperature quickly rises about four degrees. Heater warm quickly. Oscillating feature is very good. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Actual temperature setting is not real accurate but you learn to adjust to it. I don't like having to reset temperature each time unit is turned on, however, overall, this is a very good heater for small rooms.Honest reviews on Honeywell Electronic Ceramic Tower Heater, HZ-3750GP
Not for babies, I wanted to keep temperature more or less constant at around 26oC for the small baby room, the HZ-3759GP turned out to be noisy and the room temperature goes down little more than two degrees oC below the set temperature before the unit turns on (too cold) and then the unit will not turn off until the temperature goes two degrees above set temperature (too hot), that is a 4oC temperature swing!!! of course I measured the temperature with a calibrated ambient thermometer...since the built in thermometer does not do a good job tracking the room temperature...may be that is the problem.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Honeywell Electronic Ceramic Tower Heater, HZ-3750GP

The Hot Springs tech told me that this heater is what they call an "after market heater" It does not say "Watkins Nofault" on the heater only the part number and it is of poorer quality, I was expecting a real Watkins nofault. No wonder it only has a 1 year guaranty and the real Watkins heater had a five year guaranty. Not very happy because I paid a good price expecting a real Watkins, product is not worth the money.

The item shipped was not an original Watkins heater as the listing indicated, but was a clone without the same specs. Yes it is a 6KW heater but it does not have the PDR (Power Down Reset) function, nor does it have the platinum coated heater core. I'd ship it back if I wasn't in dire need of a heater for my spa.Best Deals for Watkins 6kw PDR Titanium No-Fault Heater Element
The heating element is a nice design. Watkins should sell the end seals seperately since the design allows replacing them. Very costly fix when only the end seal was cracked from age.Honest reviews on Watkins 6kw PDR Titanium No-Fault Heater Element
I've seen a few reviews that stated their replacement heater is an after market knock-off. Mine was shipped from Watkins, is the genuine replacement part, and works pretty darn good! Might try the vendor I used {Ships from and sold by Pools Plus Inc.} if you want the right part. I'm extremely happy so far!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Watkins 6kw PDR Titanium No-Fault Heater Element
We are very pleased with the heater. It arrived promptly, we put it in our hottub and it worked like a charm.
