I'm a tea drinker and I travel frequently. I always travel with my own tea and disposable cups so I only need to seek out hot water. Most hotels (and even Starbucks at the airports) will fill your cup with hot water for free (and to my surprise, some places will actually want to charge for hot water). My challenge is wanting hot water first thing in the morning or late at night in my hotel room without wanting to get dressed and seek it out, and NOT have to rely on the in-room coffee maker (who knows how or when those things are ever cleaned and what fluids have been run through them). My first stop when I travel is to pick up a case of bottled water ($4.00 per case or $6.00 for a single bottle in the hotel room no brainer), and this kettle is sized for a 16 oz bottle of water. It is small enough to put in your carry on, and light enough not to eat up that extra valuable pound for your checked luggage. I've traveled three times so far, used it about 25 times and it is just perfect. It boils the water quick, is maintenance free, and is easy to clean. What more could you ask for? I've seen this exact looking kettle for much more around the web. On my next trip, I will add some packs of instant oatmeal for those early morning calls (and who wants to pay twenty something dollars for a $6.00 breakfast delivered to your room). I love this product and will take this everywhere with me.

I read the review of this product and thought, this is just what I want, even though the other review was so negative. Well, it showed up in delivery yesterday and it is just what I was looking for.. it's a sturdy little pot and heats the water very quickly, and there is no plastic touching the waterstainless steel body. It has a "max" line to show where the pint marker is, but there is room for another cup or so in there. I think if you boiled it with the lid off, you would be okay, but it might not turn itself off, as it does when the lid is on and you stick to the "max" line. The cord is sturdy, and it is perfect for how I am going to use it,, in my little trailer, when I want a hot beverage and don't want to light up the propane stove. It would also be good for people who want boiling water, not just hot water like you get with a microwave. In a pinch, one could boil an egg or heat up soup in this, as long as you do so without the lid, and are careful cleaning out the pot without submerging the base in water. I hope it is as sturdy as it looks. Looks quality, feels quality,, I love it!

Hi, I was looking for a small kettle to make tea in my home. The size is perfect. Would be better if the base was detachable, but I can live with that.

I have not decided if I'm going to keep it though. I did 3 "test" runs boiling water as per the instruction booket. I made sure to not fill above the "max" line. The water boils fine, but there is a strong plastic odor and taste I'm assuming from the steam condensing on the plastic cover.

No other reviewers have mentioned this issue. So either I have a defective product, or have greater sensitivity to plastic-tasting/smelling water.

I'll try some more test-runs with the cover off as other posters said the kettle works without the cover, but the auto shut-off is disabled. I can handle watching the kettle for 3 minutes. We'll see....

Update:

Did a few test runs without the cover and decided to keep the little unit. There are no other small electric Kettle options available (that are not plastic). Boiling the water with the lid removed gives the results I need hot water with no plastic taste or smell.

Honest reviews on Bonavita Bona Voyage 0.5-Liter Electric Travel Kettle

I use this kettle every day at work and it's a key part of my travel coffee making kit. The kettle has a suggested max of 500ml, but if you dont mind a wet desk and some hot fingers you could get 800ml. The spout is pretty decent and as far as I can tell the kettle only has 2 flaws. The first is the plastic lid. Plastic is a no-no in water kettles and although this isnt as bad as a full plastic model like the Bodum, it still gives the water an awful paint smell and taste. I used it a couple times and noticed that if I stay in the recommended 500ml water level, the splash is pretty minimal and boils 500ml in about 3.30 minutes without it. Without the lid a Aeropress fits right inside. The second bummer is the cord is fixed to the unit. Wish it was detachable or at the very least some kind of internal storage. Would help for packing, but more for pouring the cord can get in the way if not careful. Especially in a hotel room where there rarely is a outlet where you want it and carrying boiling water with a cord dangling around isn't fun.

This kettle was just what I wanted in terms of size. It is not easy to find an electric half-liter kettle, so I was devastatede when the kettle stopped working this morning. That's after only 3 weeks of use, boiling water in it just once daily. Do not buy this product.

It's a bit loud and I wish there was a setting to control the amount of heat (it's either full on or off) but for the money it can't be beat. I have a 2 car garage shop and it will make the room warm within about 20 minutes.

The heater arrived in picture-perfect condition two days after I ordered it. Within five minutes, after UPS left, I had it set up and making heat. It has worked flawlessly for several days now. Starts right up every time and heats up my two-car garage in about twenty minutes. Yes, it is a little noisy, but that is characteristic of these types of heaters.

I highly recommend this heater. For the price, you can't beat it...

Bought this to heat up my garage when I need to do a project in the winter (I'm in the Northeast). Amazon had the best price prompt delivery. It does a good job(my garage is about 400 sq-ft), uses a standard 20# propane tank . Nice and compact for storage when you're not using it.

Amazing product for the price. I put this out in my garage in 30 degree weather, and I was working on my car in my t-shirt. The propane even lasts a long time, and I never even had to crack a door for air, the propane stays at the ground, and seaps out through cracks in the floor and under the garage door

Right out of the box, this heater made a extremely loud noise. It sounded like the fan was bad by the loud clicking.

I took it apart to find out that the fan was ok, but the wiring wasn't secured in any way and it was actually being hit by the fan. Would have been a matter of time had it been left running before the wires insulation whittled down and exposed the wires causing a short and possible spark/fire.

On top of that, the little red button on the face was broken off.

As far as heating, it was good.

If you are looking for heat..this is the heater you want. Yes, it makes some noise, but nothing more than a large fan. It has a sensor on it, and anything that moves or topples the heater, will cause it to turn off.

I have had this heater from my dorm room to my large apt bed room (4 years) and its doing great, keeping me warm and the heating bills down.

Cons: Can be noisy..(expected considering how much heat it puts out and how large of an area it can cover)

Pros: AWESOME HEAT (even in large areas)

Best Deals for Lakewood 205 1320 Watt Fan Forced Radiant Heater

This heater is worthless. I have it on all day at the hightest setting about 6 inches from my legs and it still can't keep me warm. The problem is it runs for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes then it turns off. Waits about 3 minutes then it turns on again. Same pattern all day. I'm buying another and tossing this in the recycle. I wouldn't give this to my worst enemy.

Spend your money elsewhere, but definitely not on this piece of crap.

Honest reviews on Lakewood 205 1320 Watt Fan Forced Radiant Heater

OK This heater was GREAT when it worked and was perfect for the bathroom when someone is getting ready on those cold mornings. I didn't find it to be very noisy at all. Not sure what that's about in the other review; just a slight hum for what you would expect a heater like this to make due to the small fan. At any rate, that's really all it was used for JUST the bathroom. I put it away in the closet out of reach and this fall just put it back in its spot in the bathroom and now guess what happens? You turn it on, it stays on for 30 seconds, turns off for two good minutes, then turns back on for 30 seconds. The thermostat must be bad. What a bummer!

I remember growing up in the 80s and my grandma had a similar heater to this in her bathroom. The thing worked for decades.

Oh well off to buy another heater and add some more to the landfill!

Thanks Lakewood : D

I find this heater to be adequate for my purpose which is to heat my RV during the winter. I use this unit for the front and an electric heater for the rear. Together they provide enough heat although our temps have only gotten down to the mid thirties so far. Manufacturer suggests using it for fifteen minutes outside before putting it in a confined space but I found that it took several uses to burn off the toxic-smelling paint used. Easy to use but plan to spend as much on venting material and gas hoses/hardware as you did on the unit itself.

I was heating my bedroom up before I went to bed. I always make sure there is nothing ever around or the heater when it is on. When I went in, the room was cloudy with smoke. I immediately unplugged it and felt the area around the outlet and the cord. They were both cool. I didn't understand how my room almost went into flames until my hands felt the bottom of the heater. I unscrewed the bottom to see that were melting and burnt. I bought this heater fall of 07. It's Oct. 28 and I am returning it. Please do not buy this heater! It is not safe. I'm sure this has happened before and people probably do not take the time to report. I am! Good luck to whom ever purchases this.

I bought this heater last fall and it worked fine throughout the winter. Kept the family room comfortable. Heater worked fine first year of ownership. Pulled it out the closet this fall and saw little wisps of smoke coming out. I figured it was just dust burning off, but after a few minutes a saw and heard some pretty big sparks coming from it. Luckily I turned it off before it caught fire like some of the other unfortunate reviewers here!!!

I have used the Holmes HH3690 heater for 2 winters, every night, overnight, in our master bedroom.

It has 2 settings high and low. The low setting is more than sufficient (with built-in thermostat) to maintain and heat the room. It is so quiet, which is our #1 requirement for the master bedroom. This is a wonderful heater and I highly recommend it. I plan to purchase another one for our guest bedroom, as we turn off the forced air/heating at night to conserve energy. I tried another brand (Bionaire) thinking all microthermic heaters are the same. They are not. The Bionaire is noisy on high and makes occasional popping sounds on low. I plan to return the Bionaire.

Review of Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual Voltage 120V/240V 0.7L
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
My main reason for ordering the Hot Pot is that it is made from stainless steel and I am reluctant to boil water in one of the competing plastic pots since I fear the chemical leaching potential of electric plastic kettles. I wanted to add this review to the ones already listed to add some further information. On reading the earlier reviews, I could not get the answer to how fast the tea kettle will bring water to a boil. One review said that it is slower when set on the 120 volt mode for the US and that is where I will be using it primarily. I use it to boil water for my French Press coffee pot mostly which requires 16 ounces of water to make a full pot (19 ounce french press). 16 ounces of water boils in 3 minutes here at 3000 feet altitude while the full pot (to the "MAX" mark inside the pot) boils in just about 4 minutes. Then the pot clicks off, the light on the handle goes out and water has come to a full rolling boil. By contrast, my 1200 Watt microwave takes about 5 minutes to bring 16 ounces to a boil in a Pyrex measuring pitcher. My Kill-a-Watt meter says the unit is 930 watts and draws 7.74 Amps at my line voltage of 119 volts so it is cheaper and faster to use.

Other Pros: the fit and finish is really nice, brushed stainless on the inside and a mirror finish outside. The lid is plastic but snaps securely into place registering with the handle to prevent rotation and has a comfortable molded slot for your fingers to fit securely when removing the lid. There is a reset button on the handle so you can immediately use it again after boiling a pot by refilling with cold water and pressing the reset. The base is also plastic and remains cool when in use.

I like this unit and will probably be using it nearly daily so will report on durability later.

I've been using this kettle in Afghanistan for over three months now sharing it in a tent with seven other guys and also one of our female Soldiers who knocks on the door asking for hot water. It's used A LOT and keeps boiling HOT water. The size is handy, not too big. It's done everything I've wanted and looks like it's going to last the entire deployment.

Best Deals for Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

I scoured the internet for days looking for a small, streamlined, non-clunky, non-plastic hot pot that held a quart or less of water for my daughter's desk at work. The hardest part was the non-clunky, non-plastic part! This little number is great! It heats water to a rolling boil in less than 3 minutes and then shuts off automatically and can only be restarted by pushing the reset button...so no accidental boiling dry or overheating. The outside of the pot does get hot!...but that's what being metal is all about. It's no worse than a percolator type coffee pot and is much like a small, streamlined percolator but with no basket or clunky dangling things to get in the way or snag on things or get lost. It's simply a nice little pot with a lid.

The only drawback I can foresee is that the cord is permanently wired into the base of the pot...no way to replace the cord, as you can do with an electric percolator by just going to the hardware store and getting a replacement. This is probably due to the dual voltage option for overseas travel; an option my daughter doesn't currently use but may come in handy in the future.

You have to follow directions and make sure the little voltage option screw on the bottom is turned the right way (perhaps that caused the fire problem on the negative review??). This came pre-set for us in America.

Very pleased with the product and its performance and the price is worth it when you consider it cannot be found anywhere else. I am thinking of getting one for the home, too.

Honest reviews on Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

I purchased this water kettle last January shortly after arriving in Afghanistan. It was originally intended for personal use to boil water for coffee and Raman Noodles during my one-year deployment. However, it quickly became a community item serving our entire team of 30+ people. It is constantly in use, and has probably boiled 2-3 gallons of water per day for 11 months. Remarkably, it is still going strong, shows very little wear, and has no signs of corrosion or discoloration despite the very high usage and less-than-ideal war-zone environment. We use it on 220V, and it takes about 3 minutes to boil water from the full-mark ... over and over again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Narita International Electric Hot Pot Water Kettle 1000W Dual

After years of lugging around my trusty and much loved Sanyo dual voltage travel cooker and/or my Zelco travel coffee maker for hot water, I decided to go back to basics and just get a travel kettle. After doing some research, I decided that I really didn't want to deal with a clunky British plug (although that's where most of the good travel kettles are from) and was left with this Narita, the Bonavita, Austin House and Severin that had N. American plugs. The first two are stainless and the last 2 are plastic and possibly a few ounces lighter. [The Bonavita is the only one out of the four listed above that is not dual voltage and so not only needs a plug adapter, but also needs a voltage converter for international use].

As I had recently a bad experience with a travel kettle where the silicone ring holding the plastic body to the heating element melted and almost resulted in both electrocuting me and almost causing a minor fire in the bathroom of a Hyatt, I decided to go with one of the stainless models above.

Pros:

+ The body of the kettle that contains the water is one piece stainless steel.

+ The kettle is as close to a pan on a hot plate as you get. = No way to spill a significant amount of water on the electronics.

+ Easy to clean and wipe out.

+ Boils water in 3-mins 45 seconds to 4-mins. 110V

+ Auto-off function works.

+ The dual voltage indicator is easy to see, understand and use.

+ A small coin can be used to change voltage

+ This kettle does let you "long boil" water to sterilize it for consumption in areas that do not have safe water. The water needs to be boiled without the lid on and not more than half the maximum volume or the water will splash out during an extended rolling boil. Note: the lids has to be completely off the pot for this.

Cons:

No hardwater screen filter near the pour spout that plastic kettles have

No screen = a dew drops of water does spit out during the last few seconds of boiling.

Lid handle is very shallow and hard to pull off without burning the back of your fingers. Would have liked a better lid handle.

Indicator light is hard to see.

The kettle does seem a tiny bit larger than your average travel kettle.

Stainless body makes this kettle heavier than your regular travel kettle

Kettle cannot be used to sterilize more than 350ml of water because water splashes out during an extended rolling boil.

Note:

* This kettle weighs 1-lb 5-oz on my analog baking scale.

* This kettle seems to have a sensitive thermostat. I was unable to boil a second kettle of water immediately after the first kettle of water. However, I had to wait even longer after the second kettle to boil a third kettle of water. The button wouldn't even respond when the kettle was too warm. Although this is a good safety feature, and is not too inconvenient if you're just making tea or coffee for one. For a family or someone who plans on boiling a larger volume of water to prepare meals, I would just recommend using a regular kettle and buying a voltage converter plus plug adapter.

* At first I thought that the kettle I received was defective when it wouldn't turn back on, but then realized that it might have an overly sensitive thermostat as is common with travel appliances.

* This kettle has a grounded plug and any plug adapter that is bought needs to be able to take a grounded N. American three-prong plug.

Dimplex CFP3652C 20"Cherry Electric Fireplace looks awesome. The flame is way to dark and there is no controls to make it brighter. The heat it puts out is ok for a small space. Thats all it really is, is a space heater in a fireplace cabinet. The other problem with the Fireplace is it is noisy and can get on ones nerves. The motor in the back makes all kinds of noise after about the 2nd week of use. For the price i paid for this i could have gotten a pellet stove and been much happier. It cost about $40 a mouth to run and that is not savings when you can get a pellet stove for around the same price and save a ton of money and have a real fire place at the same time. Again its nice just priced way to high.

I looked at a number of poppers before I chose a different one. However, Amazon wasn't able to get that one shipped, so working with their customer service, I settled on this one. My 8 & 10 year old children helped me put it together. The instructions were disappointing, and not all the pieces lined up properly, but the finished product was secure and looked good.

We started with the Great Northern popcorn packs, and it make "good" popcorn. We experimented with some of our own blends of oil and seasonings, and we made "great" popcorn. The kettle gets messy and requires cleaning every couple of batches. The kettle lid seems to be an older design, where the lid is not attached to the kettle and slides up to the top where a magnet holds it in place. I would have preferred the lids that are attached to the kettle with a hinge. I have had to use some "kettle cleaner" for burned spots, but it does the job quickly. The rest of the popper has cleaned up well with warm water (sometimes with vinegar added).

Overall I would recommend this popper, but understand that it is not 5 star perfect.

I received this heater for Christmas for my home office. The room is 12 x 16 and it is the last room in the house to get heat. It is usually 10 degrees colder than other rooms. This heater is extremely well made and sturdy. It took me a few times to find the setting I wanted to warm the room to the temperature I wanted but it has maintained it perfectly since then. I highly recommend this heater if you want one that makes very little noise and prefer a low profile instead of the radiator look.

Best Deals for NewAir AH-600 1500W Ultramodern Baseboard Heater - Heats 250 Sq. Ft.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This heater went into a large bathroom we have in our adobe and concrete cabin. I wanted something that could be left on and would regulate heat in a more gentle way than the little cube heater we had before. This heater is exactly like the electric baseboard heaters we have in a couple of our other bathrooms-as far as design goes. It doesn't blow heat and it is hard at first to tell if it is even on. Yes, it's on, even though it's virtually soundless.

I give it 4 out of 5 just because it is significantly less powerful than the built-ins, but it is also significantly cheaper. That might sound like a kind of stupid point, but I am just wondering if this will turn out to be only as effective as those flat panel "warmers" that people frequently use under their desks to keep their feet warm. I also gave it 4 because of its kind of silly control knobs. I think they are more for show than actual function and they are more irritating than useful. I actually took out the instruction manual to figure them out (yes, I know, something a person should ALWAYS do first) and that just confirmed that I had, indeed, figured out what they were for.

I'm using this heater to hopefully keep a west facing wall that is shaded from freezing this winter. I have it running parallel to the wall and directly in front of it, just like a baseboard. It is not the only heater in the bathroom, but it will be the only one that is set to be left on when the temperature dips below a certain amount. Right now it is too warm out to see if the heat sensor knob consistently works, but there is the ability to set the temp in 5 degree increments.

If you don't have the ability to add hard-wired heaters to your home, this style of heater is a good alternative and it's gentle heat is much nicer on your skin and eyeballs than the effective, but harsh, little blast furnaces some electric heaters are.

Honest reviews on NewAir AH-600 1500W Ultramodern Baseboard Heater - Heats 250 Sq. Ft.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Our girls' room is approximately 120 square feet and is easily the coldest room in the house. We've tried radiator type oil heaters but they're so slow to heat up that it's hard to change the room temp in a pinch. We thought we'd try a baseboard heater, being mindful that with toddler/crawlers the heater can't be on when the kids are on the move. Some observations:

The plastic feels cheap and the knob is flimsy.

The heater doesn't appear to kick in unless the room temp drops lower than the setting.

The heat elements never turn red, but it does get very hot to the touch.

On high, there's a distinctive low thrumming/buzzing sound. Tolerable.

It's not as long as I thought it would be, so it's pretty much good for a bedroom, but not much else.

I'd buy this again if it were priced right, but just make sure you get it for the right sized space, probably about half of what the recommended space allowance should be.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This heater releases a good amount noh heat and warms my sons smallish room decently. The problem is that it says not leave it near drapes, furniture, etc. This makes sense, but 3 feet? That's a foot circle. So,I have to keep it in the middle of his room, and it just doesn't look great there, and I have to put it away every morning. It is certainly inconvenient. The grill also gets pretty hot, easily burning you when it has been in use for a while, so be careful. At just over 5000 btu's, it puts out a nice amount of heat, easily warming my sons dormer room, which is not well insulated....of course, it hasn't gotten REALLY cold yet, but I think it will do a nice job, even when temperature really drops. I like the options, of time and temperature, though I just keep it at 75 degrees. What is also nice is that it does not dry out his room. We have forced air heat in the house, and that really dries things up. This makes it much more comfortable for him. I do worry that he might get burned if he wakes up and walks into it (even though it is not in has path to walk out of his room). Since he is 10, I am not so concerned, but I wouldn't leave it in my 8 year old's room, as she tends to walk around a lot. It is perfect for heating a small room without drying it out, just be careful not to keep it anywhere near anything, as it gets so hot that it could be potentially dangerous.
