This fireplace is very lovely. It has multiple light and heat settings. It is very attractive!! However, it is also a bit too loud. For the price, I expect it to be quieter. Our other complaint is that the top is not a solid piece, but made of 3 pieces. However, it is cute and looks nice in our corner and I am keeping it, but it was expensive and I wish I could figure out how to quiet the sound a bit.

First, there aren't a lot of options given the size in terms of dimensions and BTU output and price range. Cast iron was my first choice, but too expensive. The stove is attractive, easy to use and does have good heat output. It's high enough so that it doesn't have to sit on a mantle. It arrived when they said it would. Pretty easy to set up. I've only had it for 5 or six weeks, but I like it.

We have a cold ground level family room that's about 15x20 and this heats it up great. Blasts the heat out.

The remote is very convenient. Forget the thermostat control...it just doesn't work/calibrate correctly. Made in China...you understand.

Now the bad news..

After 11 months of flawless operation the remote receiver died. Called the manufacturer, and they said they would ship me a new one, free of charge. After about a couple of days of manually turning it on using the switch on the receiver box it quit entirely. Apparently the receiver sends a small charge to a solenoid that starts it up. If the remote receiver dies (and I've read a few review where this has happened) there is no manual way to start the stove. Sure, you can always get he pilot lit with a match, but the solenoid won't open the internals to allow the gas to flow into the burners unless the remote receiver is working and delivers the small voltage to the solenoid. Now the joke part...since the receiver is a back-ordered part the manufacturer offered to let me RMA the entire stove..which I am doing. So for something the size of a cigarette pack I need to swap the entire stove. It's getting cold out and I miss it already.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one..

It really is a great stove. During the recent hurricane when we didn't have power this thing was fantastic. Kept us all warm for 13 days.

Just understand how that remote receiver works...they make a model without the remote...you may want to consider it.

Update 9/19/2013:

Lost the remote (sigh)...If you go to ProComm or SkyCom (the remote manufacturer) you'll pay dearly ($150+) for a replacement. I did check the auction sites and was able to replace it for $25...just make sure it's one that will send voltage to the solenoid. There are 2 types...The unit works good as new, and this is our 3rd season using it. Last year it was a lifesaver after Sandy. We didn't have electricity for 2 weeks and this unit saved us.

When I first installed the stove it wouldn't work by the remote. After being on the phone with pro-com for a couple hours and trying several things over and over again they determined the remote was bad. About a week later I got the remote and it still didn't work. I figured the reciever must be bad, but I couldn't convince them to send me one. After a week of going back and forth with them and trying all the same things over and over, because aparently I am stupid, they finally sent me one, and now the stove works. It's OK, not great.

This is a great fast heating ceramic heater. The design is nice and compact. Great for small spaces, but strong enough that you want to keep it at least 3 feet away from you. Find that most of the heat does come out and up. Doesn't project too far out. Settings are nice the temperature regulation is nice if your using it in addition to a home or apartment heating system. This way it will shut off when the room gets warm enough.

I have this heater in my office at work and I had one at home. It is perfect for warming a nice sized space. My work office is about 10x10. At home I used it in the guest bedroom or my master bedroom if I didnt want the central heat on. I love that it rotates. With all the different heat settings you will find one that works for you. I'm buying another because I lent my home one to my parents and they plugged it into an outlet with about 10 other appliances, the breaker popped and burned the circuitry. (Not the fans fault). I would recommend to a friend.

I bought this heater because it has an all plastic casing surrounding the metal heating element. Therefore, I can put it on the floor and my young children will not be burned by it. It is also a very effective heater, easily heating a large bedroom or living room. However, with the thermastat on the heater, it won't overheat a room.

This is a really nice and quiet fan, with 3 speeds, and an oscillation setting. It is great for sitting in a hot office, where you just want to cool yourself, without worrying about cooling the entire room. It works well where you already have air conditioning, but you want to save money on electricity by setting the thermostat a couple of degrees higher than normal.

In a sense, it is louder than I thought "whisper quiet" should be. It's more of a loud whisper. I think what they mean is that the motor is "whisper quiet" so all you hear is the sound of rushing air rather than the buzz of the motor. In that sense, it is a quiet fan.

I'm using it in the bedroom. I placed a folded-up cloth underneath it to reduce any noise from the fan vibrating on the table. The fan is located on the opposite side of the room by the foot of the bed, with the air flow pointed toward the head of the bed. I don't mind the "white noise" of the sound of the rushing air from the far side of the room. Even on low speed, it creates enough air movement that, while it isn't blowing directly on me, I can feel the air moving around.

Unlike a one-star review for this product, mine does not click or make noise when oscillating. That reviewer must have gotten a defective item.

If you need absolute silence to sleep, this fan is not for you. If you don't mind white noise, I say give it a try.

I've had about three of these and they all end up with the same issue. They start out quiet, then slowly over time, get noisier, mainly an irritating rattle the source of which I suspect is the mountings for the cheap vertical plastic vane. This happens whether its oscillating or not although the oscillation mechanism ends up with its own particular noise.

Cheap Gas Key

I ordered two of these as I have three indoor fireplaces, all of which require a ridiculously long key and one of which is right on top of the brick hearth. This key has too big of a handle and too thick of a shaft to be able to turn on the one where it sits directly on the hearth. The thickness at the other end was too much for it to completely engage in another fireplace. So, I could only use one. I do have an outdoor fireplace under construction that could use the second, so I'm waiting to see if it will work there. These are beautiful, well-constructed keys just so substantial that it interferes with the function for my high maintenance fireplaces. Hoping not to have to return it.

This product does NOT fit 1/4" valve stems for gas log valves even though the product description says so and the design intends so.

I bought this product because I had built a decorative stone gas log fire pit for a customer and needed a longer key to control the gas valve inside the fire pit. 15" was perfect and the wrought iron gave it a rustic look that fit well with the outdoor area we had just completed. I purchased one key and it arrived quickly and looked great. To my dismay, the key didn't fit the 1/4" valve stem on my gas valve. This is a standard 3/4" gas log valve sold by BlueFlame.

At first I thought there was a problem where the powder coat had reduced the size of the opening. I took a fine file and pushed back the powder coat on the inside of the 1/4" portion of the opening. It still didn't work. I then thought that it was simply a manufacturing problem and returned the key and asked for a replacement. Well the replacement doesn't fit either so there is something wrong with the manufacturing process. I don't know about the 5/16" portion but a quick measurement against the smaller, supplied key shows that opening to be much larger than 5/16".

I'm disappointed as I've had to go to a longer 24" key to reach the valve but it is at least 10" too long and has to be removed after adjustment lest somebody trip over it while walking by. This product would have been perfect had it fit

The heater I ordered because mine went out and I went to all local stores and everybody just had a sale on them so they didn't have any in the surrounding towns of me at all! I looked up heaters on Amazon.com found this one was a little sketchy about the product for the price comparing to my last buys on heaters from local stores. Package came in fairly quick. Once opened up and plugged in it was instantly blowing out warm air in a cold room. The features are good just wished it had a auto timer to turn it on like my others do. Overall this is a awesome heater and am thinking about ordering another for another room. It heats my living room and kitchen area pretty good here in Louisiana when it is in the 30's i can stay comftorable. So it is a better product then the other few I have!

Problems:

Loud beep when timer mode ends which always wakes me up. Why would they do that?

In automatic thermostat mode it goes on and off but only with the high speed fan setting. So the heating is loud and not gentle. Why wouldnt they employ the lower fan setting for simply mainting a room's heat?

The thermostat is crude. It is built into the unit which makes it innacurate and constantly fluctuating depending on whether its on or not. The heater heats up past the temp you set it at so you get fairly wide swings in temperature. Employing the low setting in auto mode could have mitigated this but apparently they didnt want to bother.

Most annoying of all, the oscillation isn't silent. It makes a tiny little clicking sound when it reaches the end of one direction and begins moving in the opposite. It's just loud enough that I can hear it from my bed a few feet away and it drives me crazy because it isn't a constant "white" noise.

The remote control needs a backlit lcd readout so you dont need to be five feet away from the unit to see what mode, temp, timer, etc. it is using.

Lastly the unit never seems to stop offgasing. After using it for weeks it still creates that distinct plasticy heater smell. Maybe its the ceramic element and not the housing. Whatever it is, it gives the impression of toxic voc's.

I wonder if the Swiss and Germans settle for this poorly designed Chinese stuff like Americans do? Three stars because it works and there is certainly worse out there, but I will probably be returning it. Target 90 day return policy even if purchased online. Wake up amazon!! You're falling behind.

I purchased this heater less than one year ago. The thermostat has been wildly inaccurate since after the first month of use. It began with not turning on on the automatic setting (this is the main reason I purchased this item too so it is extremely annoying that that function went out first) Then it started making a strange noise as it oscillates. Now it has degraded to the point that it won't turn on at all on the automatic setting due to the thermostat inaccuracy, it shuts off immediately on the high setting, and if i try to turn it on to low it runs for about 2 minutes before the thermostat says it is 89 degrees in the room and it turns off for the safety setting. I'm freezing and i'm extremely angry that i wasted 70 dollars on this useless hunk of junk.

Dimplex CFP3652C 20"Cherry Electric Fireplace looks awesome. The flame is way to dark and there is no controls to make it brighter. The heat it puts out is ok for a small space. Thats all it really is, is a space heater in a fireplace cabinet. The other problem with the Fireplace is it is noisy and can get on ones nerves. The motor in the back makes all kinds of noise after about the 2nd week of use. For the price i paid for this i could have gotten a pellet stove and been much happier. It cost about $40 a mouth to run and that is not savings when you can get a pellet stove for around the same price and save a ton of money and have a real fire place at the same time. Again its nice just priced way to high.

Buy ProCom Dual Fuel Vent-Free Gas Log Set - 32,000 BTU, Model# PCD24TD

We actually purchased the Cedar Ridge fireplace (Lowes because Amazon did not sell it) which included the Procom 32,000 btu gas logs, unvented, with a remote to control the heat setting. We placed it in our dining room, and find it heats the 1800 sq ft ranch house we live in. Our home is an open plan, so this helps the warm air move from room-to-room, plus we use ceiling fans located in most of our rooms. If we had placed it in our family room we would have found it too warm for our needs or maybe we would have purchased a unit with less BTUs, but we knew we needed to heat more of the rooms than just the family room.

We keep a window slightly open at each end of the house, and so far have had absolutely no health problems with this unit, such as headaches, nausea, sleepiness, etc. We use a couple different brands of Co2 monitors and they have not moved from zero. The odor is slight if at all, which surprised us because my husband has a workshop in the basement, which I thought would become a problem with it mingling with gas, but this has not been the case. We had relatives compliment us on our unit due to not having the odor that some units seem to have.

I know there is much debate about unvented natural gas logs, and we once had a gas stove that we hated, but that was some years ago. We decided that we would try this again and so glad we did because we haven't had to run our furnace (electric heat which expensive) during the day and evening, but it is set to run if needed should our home go below 64-deg. at night when we are sleeping.

WE DO NOT USE THE GAS UNIT WHILE WE SLEEP AND THE GAS IS TURNED OFF FOR SAFETY. As far as humidity goes, so far we don't have a problem with it, and in the cold weather, the humidity is welcomed for us since we do not get the static as we do with our furnace.

One thing we will absolutely do is keep our unit maintained. We will follow the directions in the book concerning cleaning, maintenance, etc., so that this unit will be efficient and effective.

For us, this unit has been every thing we hoped it would be, and of course we hope it stays that way.

I also bought the "Cedar Ridge" branded version of this but it is the same manufacturer and product. It is a basic gas log without any frills but it looks nice and is a very good value. Install was pretty straightforward and it has been working well. We like the thermostat feature which turns it off for a little while when the room warms up then back on after several minutes to keep the room warm.

I purchased a Procom gas log set Model # 4222357 approximately 2 1/2 years ago from Lowes. Just about 1 year 10 months from the date they were installed they stopped working. I called the installer to check them and he quickly shut off the gas and took out the logs. At that point, he felt the logs were not safe to repair and reinstall. Part of the metal on the unit was actually melted. I called the company since they were supposed to have a two year warranty. After waiting about 45 minutes to get to talk with someone, I explained the situation and he told me to take pictures and send to them. I did this but after 3 weeks, still no response. I e-mailed them again only to get a response saying they would have to get more information and speak with the installer. To make a long story short, I purchased a new set of logs (not ProCom of course) and ended up disposing of the ProCom set. So like I say, no use dealing with customer service. It's the worst experience I've ever had dealing with a Customer Service department!

Perhaps I was reading the current product review wrong. I was expecting two different baking/chaffing heater tray sets. One, with the double set and the other, with the triple set. I was charged full price and only received the double set (the one pictured ontop of the triple). There's no way I would pay almost $40 for just the small, tiny, double set. I'm contacting Amazon right now and will give an update soon. Otherwise, DON'T BOTHER BUYING THIS PRODUCT FOR OVER $30. It's worth $25. As for the product itself, the lid is neat, but it is not stable with the handle. So the glass lid (with no lining) moves around when lifting by handle. I have tried to tighten the lid by spinning it to the right, but it's so fragile; I'm not going to mess with it. It is a wonderful little piece to look at-but I'm more upset about the price and of course, the confusion. I'm giving this product one star for gypping me with either with the price or the product and I would not recommend this product to anyone until this problem is fixed.

I ordered this item because it was lauded as better and heavier duty than others on Amazon that look very similar. It was more than twice the price. When it came, it had come apart in the box and we almost threw away small parts. We found them and my husband put it back together, but it keeps coming apart and now we've lost a screw that is what holds one of the sides on, because it was black and tiny and got swept up with the ashes. It's much lighter than I expected and my husband is going to have to spend considerable time figuring out how to repair it in some way that it will stay together. I would NOT recommend this product. I also ordered several other Minuteman Int. items and have been disappointed with them as well. They're lightweight and cheap--but cost more than most other brands. It came with a bright gold "Made in China" sticker. It lived up to the stereotype of cheap imitation crap. Sorry for the language, but it's a fact. I know that some quality products are imported from China, but this one is one of the reasons for the negative stereotype.

Works ok after 1 week. The only possible negative I see is the adjustment dial is small (about 1-1/4" diameter), making it hard to finely adjust. (A digital control would be the finest adjuster, but digital circuitry is more susceptible to damage from electrical surges. So, I'd rather have an old-school analog adjuster.).

One point about installation which others may not notice: The heater element is supposed to be positioned 6" from the bottom (foot) of the bed. That wasn't intuitive to me. I would have installed it about 2/3 toward the head of the bed. I was skeptical of this, but did it. It feels comfortable. I think this location keeps the on/off heat changes away from your body's core. You'll feel it less (or less uncomfortably) at your feet and lower legs. Mine didn't have enough cable for that location. I had to do about 10-12" from the bottom.

We have a king size waterbed and our heater went out. I purchased one of these models and it didn't heat up at all so the sent me a replacement heater. Then the one they sent me heated up just a little so I am disappointed in this brand. It may have worked on a smaller bed but will not heat up the 235 gallons in the king size mattress. Nothing like sleeping in a cold bed. So nothing like draining the water the 3rd time for another heater.
