This little heater has saved us now through two winters and truly has kept us nice and toasty warm! We have two, one upstairs and one downstairs and they heat the entire area with ease. The front of the unit doesn't get much hotter than a TV digital box or a computer, and our cats can very safely lay in front of it without getting their fur burnt by the coils or grate (since it is plastic). The temperature control is a wonderful feature as well, we end up using this instead of our gas heat in the house (it ends up being cheaper).

The other thing we like is the auto shutoff if it DOES get to hot! That way the heater turns off and doesn't overheat for any reason, reducing the fire risk with some other ceramic heaters.

All in all I would definitely recommend this heater to anyone who needs one!

Purchasing anything made in China is like playing Roulette.

Based on my experience with one unit I have had for years and has worked well, I purchased two more on 2/12/12.

Of those two one has already stopped working and the problem seems to be in the ALCI plug. I am already past Amazon's return date so I've lost my gamble on one. Time will tell on the other one.

So buy if you like to play the Chinese quality Roulette...

We have had two of these heaters for roughly 3 years. We mounted ours on the wall in our family room and one in our guest room. We like they are on the wall out of way safe from causing a fire. We love that they keep the room a constant temperature. We keep our house cool at night, but if someone stays in our guest room, they can set the temperature how they want it. Also, we keep one in our family room. We don't have to keep the entire house at 70, we can keep it at 65 or lower if we want, and then set the family room temperature how we want if we are watching a movie or reading. Great product and very very inexpensive to use.

Hey folks! I must say that this Lasko fan is VERY impressive. I've owned this fan for well over 5 years ... and it works just as good as day 1.

It's exceptionally quite because it uses a turbine not blades. It moves a vast amount of air, even on low speed. It would blow away any typical $15 box fan. I'd be willing to bet that it would outperform an 18" Patten high velocity air circulator! It's also better than the similar looking Stanley, which get high marks from reviewers here.

I found that the Stanley is a smaller less powerful fan and it's not built as tough. Remember to compare the size and weight and you'll see a difference. For an extra $10, this fan is a much better buy.

Incidentally, I have 3 cats and I had suspected that cat fur might have reduced the performance of this fan ... so I decided to take it apart. This was easily done by removing approximately 8 screws. My suspicions were correct! I found what appeared to be a 1/2 inch thick blanket of cat hair on the turbine. This was nearly choking the air flow. I cleaned it out and then blew it out with my air compressor. The fan now runs like new, full force again.

The reason to tell this cat story is simply you need to know that this fan is serviceable ... by you, as long as you own a Philips screwdriver. Other fans cannot be serviced and would NEVER last over 5 years.

I saw no reviews on this fan, so I felt compelled to let you know my experience. I would recommend this fan over ANY other fan without hesitation.

One last note: as an alternate choice, I also had this Lasko tower fan (turbine) for over 5 years. Lasko #4924 High Velocity Blower (overpriced here $49 at Sam's Club)

Cheers!

Jeff

This is truly an amazing fan. I was at a local BBQ place and they had one of these circulating air in there. It was putting out so much air that I had to go take a look to see what brand it was. So I ordered one the same day from Amazon. I'm somewhat of a hobby person around the house and on occasion I need something to remove fumes (paint, glue, whatever) from an enclosed area... quickly. This thing will do it.

The design is shared with a few other brands but this one additionally has the power outlets on the side. Those might come in handy for tools. The power cord is a large grounded version that is about 8' long. The angle (height) can be adjusted. Although I'd just like to point out here that due to the smaller than normal footprint of this fan, it can easily be sat on top of other things, making placement very flexible. It pulls air in from the side so if you are trying to pull in fresh air, it will need to be sat back a little farther than a standard fan with blades.

Noise, while present, is not excessive. Actually, it's not too bad at all. I could sit and watch TV with this thing running and it wouldn't be too distracting. The sound is a constant and doesn't consist of any clicking or rattling noises that would become annoying.

I really like this fan and plan to use it for many things.

I agree 100% with the other review. I also purchased this probably 5 years ago from Sams club and have since purchased a few more. I have used these daily working as a trim carpenter to keep the air moving in the homes during those hot days and they keep on ticking. They get dirty, bang around in the back of the truck, have gotten wet, and still work like the day they were new.

They move a ton of air, and do it much quieter than a normal fan. Very highly recommended.

Just wanted to update my review a bit, I have had this fan going on at least 10 years and it still works just like new. It sure doesn't look like it, but I have had no problems what so ever with it. A few times it has gotten so dirty and full of dust that I have used my small pressure washer to blast it clean, and it still works great. Probably wouldn't recommend doing that, but hey it owes me nothing at this point.

Honest reviews on Lasko Pro Performance Blower Fan, 4900

I took a gamble and ordered one of these, even with the bad reviews lately with the noise. Powered mine on, and yep, super noisy just the other reviews. Being a very handy person, I decided I'm going to fix this or attempt to. One caveat, I've taken my furnace apart and changed out my blower motor, so this little fan didn't scare me. The problem I found was the motor, which is screwed in on the side with the power plug and outlet, was not screwed in, almost not at all. There are 3 screws holding on the motor to the housing. Two of the screws were only 25% screwed in, the third screw was inside the black housing (thankfully).

It's very simply to fix, takes 15 mins, and just two tools.

You'll need a Philips screwdriver and a 10mm socket.

All but one of the screws are the same size, so no need to worry about what screw comes from what hole.

Unplug the unit!

With the unit sitting up right, take the 2 screws out of the black housing (opposite of the power side). One is just below the handle, one is in the back below the cylinder.

Now, sit the unit on its side (power side down). From the bottom supports, take out the two screws in each support from the side you've just taken the screws from.

Now, you can take off the outside panel with the grating on it.

With that off, you can see the handle attaches into the inside of the black housing. Here's the different screw you need to take off, from the handle, you'll see a smaller silver screw, take that off and now you can remove the cylinder with the inside black panel attached.

Lift up, you'll have to spin the cylinder around until you'll see there is a notch out of it that matches up with a notch on the inside. Sit the cylinder aside.

You'll see the blower cylinder, and it's attached with a bolt to the main cylinder (what it spins on). Use the 10mm socket and unscrew it.

Take the plastic cover and bolt off by lifting straight up on it.

Before you lift off the cylinder, give it a spin. On mine, it was still brushing up against the plastic, that's the noise that you hear in the one video review, or what you've heard in person. Now, you can lift up the blower cylinder. Sit both aside.

Leave the washer on the blower spindle (where the blower cylinder sits on). You'll hopefully see three silver screws holding the motor to the housing. Make sure they are tight.

Sit the blower cylinder back onto the spindle. It has a flat spot on the spindle that needs to match up with the blower cylinder. Do NOT try to force it on, it should slide right on. Now, give the cylinder a spin, notice if it still makes any noise, or if it's now very quiet.

Just repeat the process to put it back together. Make sure to tighten the bolt for the blower cylinder but not overly tight, as you are dealing with plastic! The one thing I did differently was when putting on the yellow cylinder, I lined it up with the handle and then rather than try to fish the notches together by spinning it around, I just pushed it down gently until it popped over the notch.

7 screws and one bolt later, I was a very happy customer. Hopefully, this helps you if you find the motor making awful noise. Good luck.

I read hundreds of product reviews every year and have for 10 years, but almost never write one. I bought this fan at a Wal-mart a month ago for $45. I had not read any reviews, but wandered by the fan aisle at Wal-Mart that day. I wanted to find the quietest and most powerful. Guess what? It turned out the same fan was quietest and most powerful! That got my attention first. Next as I stood in front of it, it honestly cooled me off even there in the store and I got that same wonderful feeling I had when I was in grade school and we had the big fan on the floor and I'd aim it up and let it blow up my t-shirt. I winced a bit at the $45 price since many simple fans are half the price. I went ahead and bought it spur of the moment (as I had no plans to buy or consider a fan). I keep it near my recliner where I watch TV and it has saved me much in AC bills as it keeps me cool with that strong stream of air. Also, when I travel by car, I take it with me and it's a fantastic thing to have in the hotel room as it equalizes the temp and provides a steady strong stream to cool off completely in less than a minute when you've been out in the hot Texas weather. I'm thinking of getting several more so I don't have to pick this one up and move it with me. I'm certified in disaster recovery and this would be an excellent fan to more quickly dry an area which potentially could be at risk for mold if left for more than 48 hours. It's one of those products that now I would fight to keep! Not bad for an impulse purchase!!

I'd recommend this over any fan I've ever had. Buy it and you will find many uses for it that will truly save you.

The heater looks great. Unfortunately, until I purchased it and red the requirements, I had no idea what was needed in order to connect and use it in my garage. This heater cannot be connected to a supply less than a 100 Lb. tank! I look forward to completing the install in my garage as soon as I finish the drywall & wiring. This heater requires that you create two-vents in the room that it's used-in. One must be 12" from the floor and one must be 12" from the ceiling. Also, take note that using a 100 Lb. Propane Gas Tank will require a "Permit" issued by the local Building inspector...

I put this heater in my insulated garage. It does an excelent job of heating up the entire 2 car garage. My only complaint is that it did state that you needed an external regulator. It should have came with options to purchase one. I had to steal one off of my old gas grill to get the heater working.

I just purchased this heater from Tractor Supply and found it on line but only available in some stores, called my local store and they found me one the only one in this state it was on clearance so I purchased it for $107.00 taxes in.

I purchased a 12 ft hose with regulator and hooked it to my 20 lb propane tank and works just fine,I think the idea behind using a minimum of 100 lb tank is if you are going to heat your house/garage etc you would need it, but for me I just have it for backup heat so I plan on getting a 30 lb tank. The heater works just fine but I do not like the built in fan because on auto it stays on after the heater goes off for that reason I will give it 4 stars.

My preferred method of shopping is online. In ALL my years of online shopping, I have NEVER had any item arrive so fast! On top of that, I ordered TWO of these heaters. Needless to say, the boxes were big and bulky. I can't recall whether it was 24 or 48 hours, but they got here fast! The heaters aren't even installed yet, so I can't rate their quality yet (but I will when it gets cold). Based on the shipping alone, YES, I would certainly order from this seller again! Oh--almost forgot...the price was about $100 cheaper PER HEATER (total of $200 savings) than several of the local gas company comparables.

This was one of the worst purchases I have ever made. First, it was impossible to mount on my deck railing, even after getting assured by customer service it would work. Then, I got a stand for it and had the "certified" extension cord running to it. Within 2 weeks the plug from the bird bath that went into the extension cord CAUGHT ON FIRE!!!!!!! I called the company (again) and they told me that it is not their fault and they would not do anything for me. Period. I left 3 messages for the "manager" and they have still not called me back. Incidentally, they are located VERY close to me and I even offered to bring the product to them so they could see it. They wanted nothing to do with me doing that. I highley recommend NOT buying this bird bath or any other made by Allied. Now I am out around $100 (bird bath, stand, extension cord) with nothing to show for it.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

It was difficult to rate this item; the water does not freeze, even in 20 degree temps, and the bath does, as advertised, tilt easily to empty. However, the mounting bracket used for this item needs to be redesigned while it does allow the bath to be tilted for cleaning, it is so flimsy that a heavy rain, wind or even a large bird can cause it to lean heavily to one side or another. If the bracket were more stable, perhaps with a latch to keep the bath more level, I would be completely pleased with it, as it is, however, I can give it only a 3.

Best Deals for Mounted Heated Bird Baths

I love this bath. It is easy to mount, I have had no problems with it, even empty in high winds it has stayed solid. I also liked not having to screw holes into my deck. Heats excellent. Lasted through a long Minnesota winter with no problems. It is spring now and I have squirrels and birds drinking and bathing regularly. Easy to remove from mount to clean. It has been excellent as my first bird bath.

Honest reviews on Mounted Heated Bird Baths

I bought this heated bird bath with the intent of mounting it on a four-by-four post on my deck. I had a very difficult time doing so. The bird bath bowl itself is very well constructed. It has what looks like a regular bird bath heating element incorporated underneath the bath itself, and has a power cord that can be tucked up underneath the bowl for the warmer months. The bowl is a nice color, size and shape. But I think that API should be ashamed to sell a product with such a poor bracket mounting system. Like other reviewers commented, the "tabs" do not properly lock, and the bracket once on can be wobbly at best. Out of curiosity, I tried attaching the bracket to the deck rail, but had the same problems with the bracket design. If API can do a proper redesign of the mounting bracket, then they will have a terrific product. As the design currently is, it is only mediocre. This is too bad, because it is getting harder to find products made in the USA. As an aside, I ended up mounting the bird bath bowl to the four-by-four by using an inverted deck post anchor. Worked like a charm.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Mounted Heated Bird Baths

The bird bath looks nice and keeps the ice off as advertised. However, so far we've only gotten squirels coming to drink, not birds. Perhaps this will change when the weather is more severe and it becomes one of the few sources of open water.

A major problem is the way that the support bracket fastens to a fence or railing. On one side of the bracket it is held in place by two bolts that apply pressure to the side of the clamp. But on the other side, there are no bolts or other fastening devices. So, if one is not very, very careful, the clamp and bird bath will tip right off the fence or railing. I fixed this problem by drilling two holes in the unsecured side of the clamp and screwing it to the fence. It would have been easy enough for the company to remedy this by drilling two holes in the clamp and providing the screws needed. If you or the company don't take this step, your bird bath will fall right off the fence or railing when it is tipped. To my mind, this is a major flaw, which is too bad because the bird bath in itself is fine. However, unless you're prepared to to do some drilling and screwing to attach the clamp, forget this bird bath.

After I read the reviews, I ordered this one & Mr. Coffee's to try both. Both are very good warmers but with cons & pros...

This one comes with a larger surface than mr. coffee's which allows the use of bigger cups, however, the cord is much shorter than mr. coffee's & that's where it loses a star..

The switch coming on the cord could be a little awkward depending on where you place it, but it's ok with me. Both warmers are very good & would mostly keep your hot beverage warm for as long as it's on -depending on the amount of liquid in your cup. Of course, the warmer would not heat a cold drink for you so you should start with a hot/warm beverage so the warmer would only keep it from getting cold or even heat it up for ya when the liquid level is too low! ;)

Bottom line; I simply love it & it currently resides in my work office for my morning coffee/tea.. I ordered 3 more for my colleagues & they like it too =)

Our office is always chilly so our hot drinks seem to cool rather quickly. I purchased these for our desks & they are wonderful. They keep the drink just warm enough--even when you are near the bottom of the cup. Nor does the handle of the cup get hot. The on/off switch eases our supervisors mind, too. Just what I was looking for at a reasonable price.

I bought this for one of my friends who sits in an extremely cold environment and couldn't keep his coffee warm. Not only does this keep his coffee warm, it is the exact HOT temperature as when he first puts it in his cup!! Great product.

Honest reviews on Desktop heated coffee / tea mug warmer - candle & wax warmer

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. This product warned not to touch the sides or top because it may get hot but it did not say you needed to set it on a hot pad to protect your desk. I have a nice circle burned into the surface of my desk now and the unit quit keeping liquid warm after a few hours. I guess all the heat was going down to the desk instead of up to the cup.

It's a good thing I also bought a Mr Coffee cup warmer at the same time. It has continued to work beautifully with no further harm to the surface beneath.

The liner seems to be of good quality materials and workmanship. The sidewalls are well constructed. Only time will tell!

This was purchased as a replacement for a liner that was over 25 years old. This liner appears to be of decent quality and hopefully will hold up as long as the last one! It comes folded up and care should be taken to smooth out all the wrinkles and get it square in the bed frame before placing the mattress in it. When the mattress is fully filled up, this liner is a little taller than the mattress which is a good thing in my opinion. If your bed has the side rail covers, this liner will need to be tucked in behind/under the rail covers (depending on the height of your frame) but in my opinion this helps keep the liner from getting damaged due to pets chewing on the top edges.

The plate is wonderful, it does the job just as advertised. The plate comes with instructions on recommended microwave time for the wattage of the microwave. My microwave is 1100 watts so I heated the plate for 1 minute, it was able to keep the food warm for over 45 minutes. A family member is a very slow eater (due to medical problems each meal takes a little over an hour not including dessert) and this plate was able to keep the food warm the entire time. Initially, I was looking for a metal platter/wood tray combo that restaurants use to serve fajitas or steaks to help keep food warm. I saw this and thought I would try it out; I am very glad I did. I think it is much better than the "sizzler" plates since:

1) it keeps food warm for a longer period of time.

2) it can be washed in dishwasher (some metal plates have to be hand-washed).

3) takes up less room in cabinet, do not have the hassle of metal plate and protective outer wood/plastic plate.

4) safer than metal plate since rim of this plate is safe to touch if you follow the instructions.

Plus, it is very pretty and neutral in design so fits with any decor. The only potential down side is that the plate is a little heavy, however, it is still lighter than the metal platter/protective tray combo. I am very impressed with this product and recommend it to everyone who likes their food hot. As I said, buy it and you won't be disappointed.

A big THANK YOU to the inventor for coming up with this product :)

I ordered two of these plates and did not overheat them in the microwave. I also hand washed to try and avoid the problems others had before me. Unfortunately, one of my plates lost it's seal and water got inside. I called and actually talked with Juan (the inventor) about the problem. He was very nice and quite willing to do whatever to make sure I was happy. I do not want to return the plates though as they truly do a better job of keeping food hot than anything I've ever tried. Juan told me I could try and reseal the seam with heat resistant silicon. This works and appears(so far) to solve the problem. I also realize, as my wife told me, that nobody wants to have to work on something you just paid good money for. Part of me is a natural handyman so I had to try and fix it first! Also, I was quite impressed with both Juan and his story of his startup company, so I wanted to try some possible solutions. After all, I want to keep and use the plates, and I also would love to be able to help Juan to make his venture a success. He told me he was partially disabled and this was both his dream and his only source of income. (Kind of a make it or break it situation for his family.) So in that light, if anybody would like the steps I've taken to try and fix this problem, email me at gregorysugg at gmail dot com and I'll be happy to send you an email with the info I've found out on what helps. Thanks, Greg.

I put my HotSmart plate in the microwave today, and it came out with an enormous crack as long as 3/4 of the plate.

I bought mine several months ago and I've noticed that as time has gone by, I've had to heat it longer and longer in the microwave to get it to stay warm.

The other commenters who pointed out how ugly the bottom of the HotSmart plate is are right the creator responded that the back of a refrigerator is ugly too, and that doesn't matter. Um... but you *see* the bottom of these plates, you don't see the back of a fridge. Before the plate cracked it worked fine, but yes, it's ugly. I would have no problem with this, but all of the literature on Amazon, the product's website, and that comes with the HotSmart plate SCREAMS AT YOU IN ALL CAPS about how this is elegant china that can be used for formal dining. Um... no, it can't. If it could, the creator wouldn't have compared it to the back of a fridge. At its best it is useful and hospital-looking.

Like I said the HotSmart plate does stay warm, but it's too fragile for regular use. Mine chipped a little right off the bat so I've always been extremely gentle with it, but if it cracks from regular microwave use, it's not well-made.

Also it seems like an intentional typo that it's labeled HotSmart Plates (plural). You only get one it should be HotSmart Plate (singular).

Honest reviews on HotSmart Hot Gourmet Plates - InstaHot 30 minute Plus (Patented)

Hubby and I finally got to using our InstaHot plates tonight. First off, THANK YOU for creating this product. We love them. Really. As recent WLS patients (both hubby and myself), we have to eat our meals over about 20 minutes. I take a bit longer than he does. One of my biggest pet peeves since having surgery is all my hot food is cold after about 10 minutes. I like my food to be hot while I eat it.

So in come InstaHot plates. We were so thrilled to find them. I have to say, at $15 a piece, I was a bit trepidatious about the purchase. You're talking to someone who has an entire set of plates from IKEA for less than the two plates we ordered and we use those cheap plates every day. I can say, now that I've used the InstaHot plates, the $15 was a small price to pay to keep my food hot through my dinner. And that they did.

The plates, as advertised, stayed cool on the rim, and the base and plate area was hot. After 20+ minutes of eating, my fish stayed hot, but was not overcooked, dry or overheated. I figured we'd try the plates with fish first, as it's very easy to overcook trout, but the plates did exactly as advertised and kept the food steadily hot throughout the meal without any further cooking or, as said, drying out.

The plates are a bit heavy, and (unless I missed it) the instructions are a bit sketchy on care and cleaning. We hand washed our plates after letting them cool for a little over an hour. If you're not used to grabbing your plates by the rim, you'll have to get used to that. I had to keep telling myself to not put my hand under the plate itself. I should note, however, that the hot plates did not damage my table or where the plates were set after heating and through dinner.

The quality of the plates is high and the plates are neutral.

Overall, a great product. The customer service from the inventor/vendor has been excellent. I look forward to this product line expanding.

Got this to use in my office during the winter. The 1 touch button is completely annoying because you have to push it repeatedly to get what you want. And the thermostat settings do not work at all and the heater remains off when in the thermostat settings. This is frustrating because even the LO setting is to warm so I want it to just detect when to turn on and off automatically rather than me wasting time and constantly turning it on and off automatically. I am going to return this product ASAP and get a space heater with dual knobs.

Great Fan, not hot enough to set anything on fire, but really helps keep the room warm. Note: Does Not automatically oscillate

Holmes HFH-5656-U Power Heater Fan I purchased this heater to help keep our tent warm during a weekend campout, where the overnight temperature was to be below 20 degrees. I used it for a 3-man tent and it provided outstanding performance. The tent stayed warm throughout the night.

Honest reviews on Holmes HFH-5656-U Power Heater Fan

I bought this one a long time ago. Maybe there are better heaters out there but this one does the job, and it does not get so hot that you end up burning yourself when you touch it, yet it heats a small room fine. Here are the pluses and minuses:

Positives:

+ Reasonably priced

+ Can keep a bedroom plenty hot

+ The exhaust grill stays cool. I feel safe with it around my 3 year old, and felt safe with it around him when he was 2 (even let him play with it)

Negatives:

The one-button interface is a bit irritating. You need to push it a bunch of times to hit the temperature you need.

The thermostat is not very accurate, it's probably off by as much as ten degrees. I keep it on "80", when I really want 70. Sometimes when I want it hotter, I put it on "High", but that means that it stays on and never shuts off, and I end up overheated. I wish it had a setting for "90", so that I could get it to heat the room to 75.

I will probably buy a second unit, and would not feel bad recommending this to someone else. I bought several other space heaters that were more expensive, cheaper, more feature rich, etc., and ended up returning them in frustration because they all shared the common problem of burning whoever touched the grill. Having gone through so many others looking for a replacement, I have a greater appreciation for this little guy.

This is not the review for the product, in fact this is a review for dealyard firm that sold me a used and defective product! Well.. Dealyard send me a defective product and its definitely a used product. Upon following up with dealyard they are requesting me to contact Holmes as the product has still warranty!! This is really funny, Here is a company that sells a defective and used product and finally wants their customers to send the product to the actual vendors for fixing!!! Net, Dealyard sucks!!

only 3 stars, because of this design flaw issue:

I like it, and it's not blowing my circuit breaker when it's in the HIGH setting, in the room I need it in, so I'm not going to return it.

Others may not be so lucky due to an inexplicable design decision:

I really HATE that when you turn it to LOW setting, you CANNOT USE THE THERMOSTAT!!!

As soon as you select a thermostat "temperature", it automatically switches from LOW to HIGH power, and could then trip a typically overloaded circuit breaker.

If you MUST use the low setting because of your homes wiring, your only choice to keep it from running continuously, is to use the TIMER feature.(minimum 1 hour)

I've had many heaters, and NONE with a thermostat behaves this way in low setting!!

(Including the same brand cheaper LASKO 754200 ceramic heater that I also bought.) Inexplicable.

I've got some areas of the house that I'll blow the circuit breaker if I use the HIGH setting.

(14AWG wiring, with 15A breakers, and some are pretty heavily loaded already. The kind of "cheap" barely acceptable wiring many new houses have in them.)

I won't buy an electic heater unless it has both a high(1500 watts) and low(usually ~750W, but this one says 900W) setting, plus a thermostat to keep it from running constantly.

If you are buying this heater and MUST use it in the LOW setting in some areas, then you'll want to buy something else.

On the PLUS side, the designers got a lot right:

1. (my Wife likes it) looks good in a living room (smaller than I had pictured, that's a good thing).

2. AIRFLOW: Very quiet. It has a vertical "Squirrel cage" type blower. One fan speed.

(No "Blower only" mode.)

The description tries to make it sound like it's got a powerful blowerno, I wouldn't call it that.

but it does have better airflow than I've seen in many other ceramic style heaters with regular fan.

Note: does NOT have an air-filter to keep dust out of the blower or heat elements.

The air intake is in back, and air is then sucked into top and bottom of squirrel cage fan. The air entry is at least 6" above floor, so that somewhat reduces dust intake.

(any heater with no filter usually means taking them apart every couple years to clear out the dust buildup, or see reduced airflow/performance, and earlier failure. It's rare to find a heater with filter.)

3. HEAT: Standard maximum 1500 Watts=5118 BTU/hr.. Plenty to warm us up 5 feet away, and to warm a small room, especially as a supplemental heater.

I'm using it in large open room with very high ceiling, but I can certainly tell it's warmer when I walk back there from colder adjacent front entry area. We're using it more for area heating within the room, while sitting watching TV.

4. Looks like ~40 degree arc swivel, which is enough to get both sides of a person, and to help circulate air in room. (first one I've had with swivel, so don't know how that compares with other brands)

5. TIMER: settable from 1 to 7 hour, in one hour increments.

We use the timer(LOW or high) along with the thermostat(HI only!!), since we'd keep forgetting to turn it off when done in the room (it's quiet, to my ears anyway).

6. Controls: The buttons on top mean I don't have to bend so low if I don't have the remote control in my hand, and the settings are easy to see.

On the other hand, that also makes it harder to tell (when sitting down) what setting is chosen when using the remote control. (The Infrared remote control has no indicators showing current setting)

The remote controls: ON/OFF; Hi/Lo temp; Swivel on/off; temp setting: one press for each temp change cycles through 60 deg to 85deg, in 5 deg increments(HIGH temp ONLY!!); TIMER: each press cycles from 1 to 7 hour, in 1 hour increment, with top display of "4,2,1", so you must add the numbers to figure the total time)

It has a ~6Ft power cord with two prong polarized plug.

I am very VERY pleased with this purchase! Big thanks to the woman who actually suggested this product in a review I was reading about another I was going to purchase. A little unit that seriously kicks out the heat. I use it for an open area den-there is a draft from main home entry on cold nights. I sit it between door and lounging area. No more cold air is felt across the floor and even warms up the den area. Had thought the remote was an unnecessary perk -not anymore! Extremely pleased with this unit.

So I live in a small (I mean small less than 400 sq ft-YIKES!) cottage. I can not swing my cat. It's ALL electric and my PG&E bill is bananas WITHOUT using the heat. So I suffered in the cold until my sister told me she had a lasko floor heater. I wasn't impressed when I saw it (not this one) but I honestly didn't care because I was tired of freezing to death with layers of clothes on. It's murder trying to get going in the morning (skipping showers cause it's too cold :(-C'mon!!). I saw this Lasko and was super excited. It LOOKED interesting, better than my sisters, well on the internet picture anyway. If you have ever lived in a small place you have to know ANYTHING you add to the decor, grows 5 times it's original size. I didn't want a contraption in the middle of my place. Well I'm here to tell you I in fact received it and was instantly satisfied with it's appearance. It's rather elegant as elegant as you can get being a heater and made of plastic. The base is metal and the tower is "i wanna look like stone" and does a fairly good job of it...unless your sitting on top of it and analyzing it. So for appearance for what it is made of and the look it is trying to pull off: 5 stars. Good job Lasko. Now, as far as heating, it's freaking NOT freezing in here anymore I am happy to say. This thing is really great. I love to be warm so I put it on 75 degrees and I am cozy as a bug in about 5 minutes(room ~ 200 sqft) You have many choices. For temp: 60,65.70,75,80,85 then max. There's a timer for it to go off after 1-7 hours. It can oscillate though I don't use this. One persons review stated it made his e-bill go up I don't know but I don't need to find out. My latest PG&E bill is unremarkable (super excited!!) but I've only had it a month so I'm a bit nervous about a surprise huge PG&E bill next month. So this thing looks great and works great for what you pay. It's light weight so I bring it to which ever room I'm inmy whopping choice of basically two. I'm giving 5 stars because it's all I expectednice looking to blend in a small cottage without sticking out like a sore thumb and also does what it sets out to doheats so well it makes me fall asleep :) Oh, it also comes with a remote control which I find wicked funny. I guess only because I simply have no use for it but thank you Lasko. Get off your couch people!! HA. Good Luck to you.

This review can also apply to the 6410 model which, according to Lasko Products, only differs in color.

Who would have thought you could have made a functional, inexpensive, thermostatically-controlled, heater, attractive? Well Lasko must have, because they've done it. I purchased this heater for my mother who lives in our finished basement (I don't want anyone thinking I have my mom living in an "unfinished" basement, under the stairs, or anything like that). The oscillating feature is nicely integrated in the design as it pivots along the top band of the metal support structure. It has a bright, red, LED that shines through the bottom of the heating grill so you can easily see that the unit is on. It puts out a good amount of heat and is every bit as effective as the DeLonghi units I own in other parts of my house. So, overall, I'm happy with it. Let me lay out the Pros and Cons for you.

Pros:

Attractive crackle surface along the skin of the unit.

Heavy base provides sturdy support to keep the unit from tipping.

Nice size makes it easily unobtrusive.

Very quiet.

Ready to use right out of the box.

Cons:

Remote is a bit difficult use. It has icons only which are rubber-lifted and all black. They are a bit difficult to see unless you tilt the remote in the light to get contrast from the raised surface.

Thermostat is restricted to five-degree increments. My other DeLonghi units allow full-degree adjustment.

No tip-turn-off feature if you tend to get a bit rowdy in your heated room.

We have only had the unit for about a week. As time goes by, I will provide any additional information that I feel is relevant to this review. I certainly recommend this product. If this review was helpful to you, please say so. Thanks!

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with LaskoProducts who told me that this particular heater does not have a tip shut-off feature. They told me that if the unit were to tip, it would most likely overheat and then the thermal protection would kick in. I don't think I would want to count on the thermal overload protection to protect from a tip-over. If I just HAD to have this heater, I would probably just strap one of the bracket legs to a stationary object or clamp it to the floor. It's pretty stable but it's certainly not "untippable."

I wanted to see how the heater would respond if it tipped over so I tipped it, last night. It did not turn off. It just laid there like a tipped-over R2-D2, rotating back and forth. I didn't wait around to see if it would overheat and shut off. I have two other oscillating heaters in my home in my kid's bedrooms that are made by DeLonghi and they have the tip-over shut-off feature. As a matter of fact, you can't even pick them up without them shutting off. I bought them a few years ago at Costco but couldn't find an identical product when I bought the decorative heater from Amazon.com. If tipping is not your concern, this is still a great heater.

This is a great little heater. Our house is quite drafty, but this heater really makes a difference. It is also very attractive. The ability to set temps, timers, and power level make this a very versatile device. I was really amazed at the amount of heat it puts out! I highly recommend this heater.

Review of Vornado Vortex Whole Room Heater

I've had my VH2 for several years -it's always reliable and always great at quickly warming up a room in my drafty old house. This is a forced air / fan aided heater, so it's not a product to sit in front of for instant comfort, like a radiant heater, so consider that in deciding what suits your needs. I swear by them. The second one I bought had the switch go after only a couple of years -it worked great before then, and after it broke the good folks at Vornado took care of the problem with no hassle. These heaters are terrific. The quality is well worth the extra money, and buying something actually made in the US is an added treat.

We own a Vornado floor fan that we use during the summer and purchased this heater about a month ago for our bedroom. We wanted to stop heating the entire house at night to save some money. Well, as has been stated by others, this is not the kind of heater you sit in front of to get warm. We run it on the low setting and it will warm our bedroom by around 5 degrees in about an hour. That is just about perfect. We use a timer to have it come on at 10, then off by midnight. then again at 3, then off at 3:30. then on again at 6 and off at 7. It works. Our room stay warm, not hot.

The heater is not real quiet. After all, it's a fan with a heater element. We actually like the noise in the room. It's smaller than you might think and takes up little floor space. The built-in thermostat works, but we noticed it would sometimes cycle on and off quickly. The external timer solved that problem (we set the thermostat higher).

We would have no issues buying another one. Highly recommend.

This heater is a must have for me. I have three levels to my house and use these heaters (I have 3) constantly. None have needed repair & some are rather old. I find the only negative thing I can say is I have to fight with my cat as to gets to sit closest to the heater! Great buy well worth the cost.

Honest reviews on Vornado Vortex Whole Room Heater

I ordered this heater because of the Vornado name. Have had 7 of their products over the years and was always happy. This one is advertised as a 'whole room heater.' It would hardly heat a small bathroom. Fan wouldn't produce enough air movement so that when standing in front of it one would even notice that it was on.

I hope Vornado goes back to the drawing board on this one. I will continue to believe that they can and do build quality products. This was just not one of them.

The heater heated our living room but also created a breeze that made us colder. I understand the point of the fan part is to circulate the warm air around the room to have an even heat in the room but we didn't like that feature. I read some reviews saying it was loud but it wasn't, it was like white noise, we didn't have to turn the TV volume up. This heater just wasn't for us.
