Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I really like this heater.

It's one of the newer ones on the market. What makes it different is that this one is not directional or oscillating as a great majority if not all on the market are. This heater "heats" in the 360 degree area.

Easy to open, and operate. One feature that is missing (future models I'm sure will include) is a remote control. Then again many on the market do not.

Directions state you keep it THREE feet away from drapes, or other items in the room for risk of fire. That's a priority!

Also it's important to note directions state do NOT use a power extension. Risk of fire!!

Also plug it directly into the wall. Do NOT use a flimsy extension cord as you would for a radio or such. The extension WILL heat up and cause a fire. Just a matter of time, so don't use a flimsy extension cord.

IF you require an extension cord, call the company and inquire about a "Contractor Grade" extension cord. These are expensive, but can tolerate high voltage items safely.

The heater uses a maximum 1500 watts of electricity. A moderate amount, normal for heaters.

I found this heater to work good. Place it in the center of the room. So far I've found it to heat well. So far we are not getting frigid temps. so this is working good by placing it in the living room while watching TV. Heats the room well without having to heat the whole house.

It's lightweight, so if you want to move it from room to room that will be easy.

That's about all. It's straight forward. Nothing to make you think or put together. People who want an evenly heated room should enjoy this.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have used many, many space heaters over the years. Lately, my favorite has been the Lasko 755320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Digital Display and Remote Control. So, when the opportunity arrived to review what looked like an interesting heater for Amazon Prime, I took it.

First, I want to describe what I consider a major safety problem, then I'll write the rest of this review regardless of this:

*** HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS HEATER *** the top of the unit (the "disc") gets extremely hot after it's been running for a while. If you look at the product picture that shows the funnel/disc at the top, this is where all the heat comes out. The edges and top of that funnel/disc get extremely hot. I would NOT buy this heater if I had small children. Whirlpool really needs to put some additional protection around this area. It's a no brainer that a toddler would walk up to this and grip the top disc it looks very cool from their eye-level view. They are literally able to grab into that funnel area which is the hottest part of the heater. Wow, burned fingers! If I was Consumer Reports, I'd probably rate this product as "unacceptable" because of this safety issue. But, I'm not CR and some of us don't have kids or pets to worry about regarding this issue. I will point out that the reason I noticed this problem is that once I did accidentally touch the edge of the disc. I was picking the turned off unit by the handle, which causes the heater to tilt forward. My instinct was to reach out and put my hand under the top to stop it from swinging (top heavy). Bad idea. That's when I paid more attention after that and realized this could be a real hazard for kids.

OK, if you don't mind that problem, read on for the rest of my review...

The best features about this heater are:

It's QUIET!!!

Really!! We have tried many heaters in over the years and they tend to be so noisy. Some models were so noisy we had to crank the tv volume up to hear over it. This heater seems to be about as quiet as a fan could be. It's actually quieter than an oscillating fan, because you are removing the oscillation motor sound from the noise level. If noise is a key feature for you, you'll love this heater.

It has an automatic thermostat you can set.

This model has high/low air flow buttons and an auto thermostat dial. The high/low settings control the airflow, not the temperature, per se. The thermostat dial allows you to set the heater for continuous running, or a set the thermostat to the temperature you desire. Once you set the thermostat, the heater cycles on/off, just like you would expect. This is a great way to keep the room at your target temperature. Since it's so quiet, it won't wake you if it cycles while you are sleeping.

It has a small footprint. Compared to the many tall towers, it's nice to have a lower height of only 15.5". The diameter of the base is about 9".

-The large protruding handle for moving the unit is very nice. Most heaters have terrible handles, this is one of the nicest I've seen, you can actually grip it because it's a real handle, not a slot in the machine. You can't see it in the product pictures, but on the back is an actual handle about 5.5" wide that sticks out about 1.5". The only negative is that the unit is top heavy so when you pick up by the handle, the top swings down. Just don't instinctively grab the top, like I did the first time(!).

A neutral feature that you will either like or not:

This heater does not oscillate. Instead the air blows out the top all 360 degrees. So, on the plus side, it's sending heat in every direction. On the negative side, with oscillating fans you at least have a choice of pointing the heat in one direction or turning on the oscillation. Either this or oscillation is way better than the heaters that have neither and force you to point your heat only one direction. And, as I mentioned, lack of oscillation makes this heater quieter.

There are a couple additional negatives about this heater:

There is no "fan only" setting.

It seems like most heaters I've purchased in the past had a fan only setting. Lately (ok, last few years), it seems like many do not. Since you have the big unit sitting there in your room, it would be nice if it could be used to circulate air during the day when it's warmer, and then heat at night once the temps have dropped. Just something to be aware of in case you expected this feature.

It has no remote control

For the price of this heater, I would have expected it to come with a remote control. I have a couple of the Lasko's they are great heaters and cost less than this heater, WITH a remote.

CONCLUSION:

First, this heater must lose stars for the safety issue.

Second, for less money you can buy other heaters with similar features, plus remote control. A good example is the Lasko I mentioned initially. Not that I'm a Lasko salesperson :) but I figure if there is something better for less money, people should consider it.

If you don't care about the remote or the disc heat safety issue, you'll overall be happy with this heater.

I'm rating it 3 stars due to the safety issue along with price/feature comparison to its competitors.

Hope this helps someone,

c-

Love this heater. Very good for a small office/bedroom. Heats room up within 10 minutes. It's quiet which is a HUGE plus for me. I would recommended this product.

Honest reviews on Whrilpool Centrifugal Fan Assisted Ceramic Heater

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If Darth Vader were a heater, this is what he would look like. More important: this uncomplicate heater quickly rises to the temperature you set, has a high and low setting, and best of all, automotically turns off when the room gets too hot, so you don't find yourself gasping for water in the middle of the night. I tried this out when I arrived at our cabin in the woods over Thankgsiving weekend, and was more than satisfied by how warm and toasty it made my bedroom. Well worth the investment.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Seven years ago, my husband and I moved into a home with an electric heat pump. I've since purchased more warm clothing than I have owned at any time in my life. And I've tried several different types of adjunct heaters. My office is a particular problem, since it's above the garage and never seems to warm up except in the height of summer.

I'm really liking this little Whirlpool WHTC361EL. It's small, quiet, and highly efficient. We plugged it in and turned it on in my office and the heater got the 10X10 (approx) room warm in less than ten minutes. The top of the heater stays cool enough so you can handle it. The heater has a tipover safety feature, so it turns off automatically if a child or pet knocks it over. Temperature is set by a dial--you click in five degree increments. Off/on is a push button. It also has a low and a high heat function, which would force out more heat on the high. I've got the heat set on high and it works great.

The only reason this heater didn't get a five star review is because it came so poorly packaged I was afraid it wasn't going to work. Normally, Amazon double boxes products and provides enough packaging to keep your items safe from any kind of gorilla handling, but this box came in the Whirpool packaging and looked like someone used it for soccer practice. Luckily, the little heater inside was well-wrapped by Whirlpool and came out without a scratch.

Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Works as advertised. It heats my 3 garage garage to a working temperature with no problems even when it is -20 deg F outside.

When running all 3 burners on their high setting, a 20 lb tank is good for about 10 hours.

Pros:

Lots of heat

Easy to use

Cons:

Noisy on occasion

Uses lots of fuel when running on highest setting with all 3 burners

No ignition start...I use a propane torch to get it running.

I'd buy it again but if I could afford it, I'd get a ventilated natural gas heater instead.

I knew i needed a humidifier, as i'm just not used to the dry air of east coast winters. But after shopping around on amazon for warm mist humidifiers, i was horrified by the reviews. Every humidifier seemed to be loud, leaky, and a hassle. I ended up getting this one because of the relatively low price, thinking that if it was as bad as all the others, at least i wouldn't have spent too much on it.

I have no complaints.

On the low setting, it's about as loud as a pot of water boiling in the next room. On the high setting, it might compete with a pot of water boiling in the same room. Every once in a while it gets a bit talkative, but that's rare and doesn't last long. I'm a light sleeper, and this unit never wakes me up.

On the low setting, a full tank of water lasts a little over 24 hours. On the high setting, it goes through in about 8 to 9 hours, perfect to run overnight.

The auto-shutoff works just fine, so i don't even bother turning it off before i leave the house.

It is a bit annoying to clean the unit, but that has a lot to do with the tap water here being less than perfectly clean. We switched to using filtered water, and now the humidifier is actually our way of knowing when to change the filter. When there's build-up on the heating element, the filter isn't working as well anymore.

The daily maintenance takes no more than a few minutes. The weekly maintenance takes longer, but that's mainly because you throw some of the pieces in to soak. It's maybe 10 minutes of effort, plus however long you want to soak the pieces.

In all, i'm very glad i purchased this unit. (And the water tank isn't nearly as blue as it looks in the picture.)

I love Amazon because of the reviews. For the most part, the reviews are honest, detailed and very helpful, especially when a true defect or some other "quirk" is described. However, many of the reviews for this item are really...bizarre! I have to wonder what some of these reviewers were actually thinking. Also, are they are realistic in their expectations? It is what it is an inexpensive humidifier. It WILL make some noise, It will NOT humidify your entire house, it WILL require cleaning and care, it will NOT last forever, etc.

1) This item is being shipped from a warehouse to your home. If it arrives broken, cracked, leaking or damaged in any way, contact Amazonthey offer one of the best return policies around. This is an issue with whoever shipped it, not a reason to leave a one-star rating.

2) This is a HUMIDIFIER and uses tap water and electricity to create a heated mist. Should you be horrified to find mold or mildew? NO. Does it require regular maintenance and cleaning? YES. There is no way around it. If you allow water to sit, mold will grow. If you use tap water, there is a good chance you will have mineral deposits. Inspect the humidifier each time you fill it.

When you re-fill the tank, give it a good rinsing out. It if smells, add a teaspoon of bleach, swish it around and dump it out.

If it has deposits around the heating element, pour vinegar into the bottom, let it sit for a few hours, take a small toothbrush to it and rinse it out.

If it has deposits on the plastic pieces, remove them from the unit and soak them in vinegar, same as above. It is not difficult to disassemble at all.

It is a fact of life, humidifiers need to be cleaned and maintained.

3) This is a very INEXPENSIVE humidifier. Is it helpful to compare it to a humidifier that costs 5x as much? NO. That is like comparing a Toyota Corolla (MSRP 25K) to a Bentley Continental (MSRP 175K).

4) This is an electrical device. Like anything that uses electricity, it has the potential to start a fire. Even though it has an automatic shut-off, I wouldn't bet my house on it. Pay a little attention to it and treat it like any other electrical device.

5) Seriously, having to carry it by it's handle with the plug on top is a big issue? Would you carry a bottle of water (or any liquid with a screw cap, for that matter) upside down? As for the leaking, screwing the cap on tightly and carrying it by it's handle would probably help.

6) Will it last for a lifetime? NO. Does any inexpensive product last beyond a few years? NO. Will the gaskets dry out if it is stored for long periods of time? It's entirely possible. Again, this is an INEXPENSIVE humidifier.

BOTTOM LINE: It is very reasonable priced, does a good job and lasts a couple of years if you take care of it. I am about to make my 4th purchase of this exact humidifier. I read the reviews to see if anything changed or if a better, similarly priced unit was introduced into the market. The answer is NO. This is the best deal for the money.

****UPDATE**** 11/19/2011 Almost one year later, last week I pulled out the humidifiers and gave 'em a nice, thorough cleaning, set 'em up and they are working perfectly. I am going on at least my 5th New England winter with the first one I bought, and it still works like new whisper quiet, zero leaking, couldn't be happier for the price! From the looks of it, Amazon's price hasn't changed much either (although it does fluctuate day-to-day). It's still the BEST YOU"LL FIND in this price range!

Best Deals for Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off

I purchased the vicks cool mist humidifier (v3100) while visiting my family out west for the holidays. I had a sore throat and that mixed with the heater running and the already very dry air and i was getting up to get a drink 4 times a night. the first night i spent with the humidifier i didn't get up at all. i decided to leave it there and use it every time i visit, summer or fall. and i liked having a humidifier so much i bought a warm mist one, the v745a for my midwest apartment. here is a comparison of the two.

i bought the cool mist for the desert because it was cheaper and will only be used a few weeks a year but will be both summer and winter. it does blow a lot of cool air and will be especially nice in the summer. some people found it quite loud but i thought it was reasonable and used it on the high setting. but i am also used to sleeping with a fan on during the summer. i liked the fact that its shape is lower to the ground making it difficult to tip over. and the seal for the water tank is easier to open and close all the way to prevent leaks. but even after one week's use at night the filter is already more yellow than i expected. if i was using it every day i would have to change it very regularly. it also does move a lot of air like i said before, but the vents are low and it seemed like it was blowing all that moist air right under the bed.

i bought the warm mist humidifier for my apartment because i will only be using it in the winter and didn't want the cold air when my heater is aready working so hard. and i figured it would be more useful during cold season because of the attached medicine cup. it is also for medium/large rooms while the cool mist is for smal/medium so i could move it to my living room if needed. and because i saw the filter on the cool mist got so dirty so fast i liked the fact that this one had no filter, no parts to replace. just weekly cleaning. and the cost difference between this one and the cool mist is about the cost of one filter replacement. it makes very little difference in terms of air temperature, does not heat it up as much as i thought it would, vs the cool mist which did make the room quite a bit cooler. i like the fact that the steam comes out of the top instead of under the bed and it is more quiet than the cool mist even when on the high setting. it does have automatic shut off so i don't have to worry about it boiling dry. i did some research online about warm vs cool humidifiers before purchasing them, and many recommended cool mist for children because of burn risk from using the warm. even after being on all night the unit is cool to the touch and it has a cooling chamber so even the steam that comes out is unlikely to burn. the only way i think a child could injure themselves with this unit would be if they tipped it over, took it apart and touched the actual heating unit because of the auto shut off. my husband guessed the warm mist might take more electricity to run but we'll have to see about that.

overall i am a little happier with the warm mist because i need it for winter, it is quieter and needs to filters replaced. but they are both excellent and inexpensive and once you get one you will wonder why you waited so long. (and by the way the cool mist is $29.99 at target and the warm is $34.99, sorry amazon)

Honest reviews on Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off

Yesterday I went downtown to look for a humidifier for my bedroom. What I thought would be an easy project turned into one of frustration. I wound up going to three different drug stores to try to get an idea of what to buy. Most of the humidifiers I saw were by Kaz (Vicks), who makes many different models. To make choosing a model supposed easier, somewhere along the line the company put a graph on only some of their model's boxes to indicate which model to buy based on your needs. (I wanted it for colds and flu). This graph was at one point changed and updated. But the problem is that Kaz doesn't label their boxes too well as to what model applies to the graph. From what I can tell it is these newer graphs that grade their humidifiers as Best, Better, Good or nothing depending upon the purpose intended. But if you are trying to choose between warm or cool all Kaz tells the consumer is some people prefer the warm mist to the cool mist while some don't. How this is supposed to help the consumer decide I'll never know.

Anyhow, I wound up with this model (v745A) because it was supposed to be all purpose and being the winter here in the NE I thought warm rather than cool mist would be better. An added benefit with the warm mist is that you can add an inhalant and with my current cold that would help. I did have some concerns about whether this unit would be enough for my 16x16x10 room. Kaz only labels some of their boxes with the size room the unit is good for but this one does not say. All my observances below were made using this unit on the high setting.

BUILD: The unit itself is built OK nothing more (and I didn't expect more) but seems a little flimsy.

NOISE: OK, the noise. Come on people, this device boils water for steam, hence the name "Warm Mist". You should not expect this to be absolutely silent so stop whining. And for those of you with the "Princess and the Pea" syndrome do NOT buy it. But for those who want an idea of what it sounds like from 3 feet away think of it is like the sound of a rainy day or it is like having an aquarium in the room. It is not loud at all (certainly no louder than a fan on low speed) and could be soothing to those who like white noise.

PERFORMANCE: This unit does humidify my bedroom but it does take a while to have its effect, so I would start it before I went to bed. The amount of mist that comes out is probably not as great as if you were boiling water in a soup pan. [Please do not have unrealistic expectations: your room will not to turn into a steam bath and you will not see the mirrors fog up as they do in the bathroom.] Ideally, two of these in my room would probably suit it better. I can not say that the added inhalant has a great effect. I can smell it in the mist as it is coming out right above the unit but would not be aware of it otherwise. Incidentally, Vicks makes a personal model of these, but I would skip it in favor of this one because you could just breath in the vapors as it comes out of the top of this unit for the same effect.

CONCLUSION: Overall I am OK with this purchase. Frankly, I don't see how anyone could "love" this device or anything like it. It does what it does. I am not sure if another model would have been better. Kaz really needs to make choosing between these models easier. Having used it now I would only recommend a WARM mist for winter use (when most colds and flu occur). It would be too warm and uncomfortable at other times. I have not had it long enough to test its durability.

I bought this little guy because this winter was brutal for sore throats, nose bleeds, and static electricity in my little home in upstate NY. The rabbit was going around looking like a charged puffball, giving off actual sparks. The cats cringed when I went to pet them, and I was simply miserable myself. I'm probably overworking the poor thing, but the sore throats have backed down, the cats are letting me pet them again.. and although the rabbit still looks like a static charged puffball, he's at least not giving off any sparks.

When I say "overworking", I mean that I'm using it to humidiate (I know, no such word, but it sounds good!) my entire 900+ square foot house, 24/7. So I don't expect miracles out of it, but any relief is... well, a relief. I use it on the Low setting, and it is not loud enough that it bothers me. Sounds a little like a muffled pot of boiling water. Had it on High once and it sounded like a slightly LESS muffled pot of boiling water. If you are a light sleeper and bothered by any noises, you might not want it in your bedroom, but I personally find it a rather comforting sound. Then again... it's not in MY bedroom.

I LOVE the fact that the tank has handles on both ends. I have fibromyalgia, and if there's a way to drop something, I can drop it. Two handles will cut that chance down just that much more. I also love that parts of it can go in the dishwasher. In fact, that was one of the reasons why I bought it hey, it goes in the dishwasher! That and no filters! They saw me coming!

Down-side only PARTS of it go in the dishwasher. The cooling chamber, medicine cup, and water tray CAN go in the dishwasher. The tank CAN'T. To disinfect the tank, you have to soak it in a bleach/water mixture. They recommend doing that once a week. Also, the water tray and heating chamber need to be soaked in vinegar once a week to remove any scale build-up. THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER. In fact, I'd recommend it MORE than once a week. I do have hard water, and I saw build-up in just two days. And just soaking and wiping didn't do it I took a toothbrush to it.

I noticed several reviews saying theirs broke down rather quickly. If they didn't do the vinegar treatment or didn't do it often enough, I could certainly see WHY it would break down.

Other nifty things. It has a night-light! Also, on the Low setting, one tank lasts me almost 24 hours. And in case I do forget to watch, it also has an automatic shut-off. Like I say, they saw me coming.

So yeah, I love it. But ya gotta clean it. And probably often. But my cats love me again. And the rabbit? Well... a piece of papaya goes a long way towards making amends with him.

Edited to add:

Here we are, a few years later, and I recommended this to my mother. Warned her about the "YOU HAVE TO CLEAN IT EVERY WEEK. AT LEAST" factor. In fact, I warned her repeatedly.

Granted, she's always frantically busy, so I can kinda understand what happened next... She called me and told me that it had cracked and sprung a leak three weeks after she had bought it.

She hadn't cleaned it.

So there you have it. Proof positive. I used my constantly over the winter. Cleaned it every week. No damage.

She had it three weeks. Didn't clean it. It bled a full tank of water all over her kitchen.

Woe.

It's coming up winter, and the rabbit is sending off sparks again. Time to dig this out and fire it up. Or is that.. water it up?

Exactly as advertised and works great. One caveat, in the install instructions it fails to mention you have to unscrew (2 screws) from the circuit board and remove it from its holder to insert the cable. It adds about 1 minute extra to the install. Don't try to install it without removing the circuit board or you could damage your board and the switch. Perfect otherwise....

I am disapointed that there are not more reviews on this product! We have a second home in the mountains with a bar/gameroom downstairs which has central heat, but still maintains a chilly 50degrees in the winter(outside temps in the teens). We wanted a small space heater to push the temp to around 60degrees. The room has a fireplace, but we don't want to burn a cord of wood every winter just to use the space for a few drinks or a movie. We bought a small Honeywell heater which didn't put out enough heat. We exchanged it for a bigger Pure Comfort box but it died the first night and the local hardware store didn't have a replacement... so.. we got back to the flatlands and purchased a Vornado. I plugged it in and I tried to warm our large(12ft ceiling-250sqft) living room just to see how it would perform, but after 40minutes it didn't seem to do much. I then moved it to our family room which is about 200sqft w/8ft ceilings, but is not an enclosed room(open to kitchen and hallway). I feel the heat blowing from the unit but I don't feel the overall space getting warmer... so.. i guess the jury is still out. I plan on taking it up to our mountain home next weekend to heat the 150sqft gameroom, but I am skeptical. Having the unit next to you in quite comfortable but it doesn't seem to warm the entire room. Probably this is not a good test.. my expectations might be too high. In an enclosed room it might be alright. Right now it seems like a good under-the-desk unit for your office... but.. update coming...

We purchased this heater after our other, much older one, burned out. This heater is relatively small and runs pretty quietly, which is nice. But that isn't enough to compensate for the absurdly poor amount of heat that it puts out. We didn't expect much from a small room heater, but out of all of the room heaters that we have ever used this is by far the weakest one. It is also disappointing that this heater has very few settings and doesn't oscillate. If you want a little heater to warm your toes during spring while you're also running a stronger heater then by all means, get this one. If you're looking for an actual heater that has the ability to heat an entire room by more than 4 degrees than this is certainly not for you.

Best Deals for Vornado TH1 Whole Room Tower Heater

The Owner's Guide uses page 2 exclusively to inform reader that Vornado products are "Designed, engineered and supported in Andover, Kansas.

My first Vornado purchase many years ago was the Vortex Heat Whole Room Portable Electric Space Heater. It was smooth, quiet, and best of all it offered a continuous running fan while the heat cycled off and on. This made for an uniterrupted pleasing sound to sleep or work by. It pleased me to think that these must be better machines because they were Made in America.

However, since then I have purchased 2 more such type units. Both, regretablly, not like the 1st. Both had a sporadic rattle of some sort that could be easily heard. I called customer service to voice my unhappiness, but there was not a sympathetic customer service rep on the other end. I still have these 2 units.

In November, 2012, I ordered the TH1 Tower Heater from Vornado for $99.99, with much anticipation that it surely would meet the preference for that continuous running fan feature and the quiet running feature they especially emphasized. Upon its first use, there was an obvious high-pitched whirring sound that was audible beyond the actual whir of the fan. As I wanted to utilize the unit for a pleasant "white" type sound as much for the heat feature, I was disappointed.

Maybe most people would never notice, but being sound sensitive it is an irritant to me.

I called customer service and was met with a listening, concerned, warm-hearted customer rep. He had me download and print off a UPS mailing label for its return. Furthermore, he stated he would go ahead and have another mailed back to me. This transaction was very good, very pleasing.

In a reasonable amount of time, the replacement arrived.

Upon its first use, the same whirring sound was still present. Ugh! I will keep it & use it, but will do so when needing "quietness" isn't an imperative.

In conclusion, the unit may be designed, engineered and supported in Kansas, but it definitely is Made In China.

works well

keeps bedroom warm at night so

we dont need to run the furnace heating the whole house

radiant heaters need to be near a wall

preferably where a window lets cold air in

they heat the air and it curculates up and around the room

they do not radiate out next to you so dont put them in the middle of the room like a ceramic space heater with a fan

ours worked well but is now not heating as much

still working though

will try on medium setting instead of low

getting two more at home depot on sale

dont get fooled by the bad reviews by people who dont know how to use a radiant heater

but dont overlook the ones that said they had failures of switches or leaks etc

failures should be rare but do happen with any product

stupid users should be rare but are all too frequent

I bought this heater to warm a small one bedroom (barely insulated) home and it did well when the temperatures outside ranged from 40-55 degrees but when it got into the teens and 20s outside, this thing could not compete. Typically I find that it raises the inside temperature about 17-21 degrees above the outside temp. When it was in the teens and twenties, I was only seeing about a 15 degree increase, on high all of the time.

I am pretty accepting of the fact that there was typically a consistent 20 degree increase in temperature, but now that mine has stopped working completely, I'm not such a big fan of this giant thing just taking up space in my room. I'm almost 100% sure that the problem is a faulty dial/knob. When I first started having issues with this knob was when for some weird reason it wouldn't turn on high anymore... only med and low. Then it stopped turning on when I turned it to med, only working on low. Then the orange "on" light started blinking when I would turn it on any setting, but not actually stay on. So now no light turns on and neither does its heating functions.

I got this thing less than 60 days ago by the way......

I've used the same one by duraflame and it also was not such a great experience either. Every 15-20 min, it made some weird creaking noise that got very old, very fast.

Best Deals for Pelonis 1,500-watt Portable Electric Oil-filled Radiant Heater

After much research and review of various heaters I came to the conclusion that this one would work great and it did. We have an old Lakewood 7101 that still works great but wanted another oil-filled radiant heater for another room. We purchased a Pelonis 1,500 watt oil-filled radiant heater and could not be happier. It works great and we especially like the thermostat that works and keeps the rooms the right temperature. There is no oil smell at all with this unit. Having it on wheels makes it easy to move around on hard wood floors. BTW, you do not need to keep the unit next to a wall as it works just fine 2-3 feet away from the wall. I don't know how long it will last but am very satisfied with the unit thus far.

Honest reviews on Pelonis 1,500-watt Portable Electric Oil-filled Radiant Heater

My delonghi floor heater quit working after about 10 years so I went to home depot to buy another affordable one. I ended up picking the pelonis because it was on sale. The first thing I noticed was the pungent odor it gave off so I didn't really want it in my bedroom where the air would be enclosed so I used it as the kitchen heater. Then, after a few weeks the plug melted so I replaced that. After a couple months the smell went away but then I started noticing burn marks on the outer surface of the metal from it running at a high temperature day in and day out. The metal began to warp so that I couldn't roll it properly either. Finally, after owning it for a total of 4 months it burnt out. I really wish I would have saved my money for something else.

We got rid of our old oil furnace, which no longer worked. We put one of the Pelonis in each room. We were disappointed at first. Then I realized it had nothing to do with how hot it got, but the circulation of the heat. So I put a small fan behind each one and set them to a very low blow setting. This gently circulated the heat around the room. We are very happy with this system of heating.

It's a good heater so far, it heats my greenhouse (12x24 feet), so I am completely satisfied with this product so far.

This is a good heater to use when you have several rooms to heat. Most 1500W heaters that operate on 110V only work for a single 10'x12' room. If you have a 240V outlet for 20A (which is typical for high power a/c outlets), this unit provides heat for several rooms. The outside case is metal yet it remains cool to the touch even after the unit is operating.

It has a basic dial thermostat that can be set to have the unit auto cycle on/off. It has a strong fan that is a bit noisy but you can feel it blowing hot air at least 8-10 feet in front of it. If you have small children I would advise caution since this is a 240V unit and the heating coils do glow orange hot.

This heater based on it's btu's immedately heats a 2 car garage. Within 8 minutes of ignition you can be comfortable with a sweatshirt or long sleeve flannel. The standard gas grill (20lb) tank lasts me about a week and a half if I am out there for 3 or 4 hrs a night 6 nights a week. You do turn it off and on intermittently about every 30 minutes if you have drafts like I do but that's not too bad. I would prefer permanent heat but for someone on a budget for the heater and the fuel it's a great alternative to permanent heat. Plus you can bring it to a jobsite if needed. I have heated a 2000 sq ft 2 story house during rehab processs comfortably with this heater. Almost too small for that but plenty good for the conditons there and at home. Happy with the heater and it only costs 15 bucks to fill the tank.

Heats well but not good for a shop with metal shop tools. Too much moisture in the Propane for un-vented heater. Doesn't take long for rust to appear on the tool surfaces. This would be true for any un-vented heater running on Propane.

I used this heater outside for 7 hours straight and I pretty much burned thru the entire 20# tank at full throttle. It did a great job. I did notice that at full power, the tank really iced up and seemed to reduce the heat output as the fuel level dropped. The height adjustment setting is convenient too. It held up fine in a breezy conditions. It was raining heavily and I operated under an EZ up awning. The heater got pretty wet from indirect rain. After two days of these conditions, I did notice that several of the exterior screws that are also painted black showed signs of rust. The manual did say to not let it get wet while it was operating. The ambient air temp was between 45 and 50 and while others around me were in jackets, I wore a t shirt.

I have a partially insulated two car garage in Colorado. With the outdoor temp. showing at 19 deg. my garage went from 38 to 60 in about 30 minutes. It's a great little heater and easy to store. I like the fact the housing stays cool to the touch even after long operation. On the low setting it just sips propane and that's also a huge plus. I'm very satisfied with this purchase!!!!!

I have owned Mr. Heater products for years. I still use the single tank Mr. Heater that I have had for 20+ years without no problems. This forced-air heater is used in my 24x26 detached garage. It brings the temperature up 20-25 degrees in less than 30 minutes on the low setting which sipps the fuel at a lower rate. I then turn it off and turn it back on when the temperature starts to dip. Amazon shipped my product to me in a couple of days after ordering. Super fast shipping plus great price.

I would definitely recommend buying this product.

I had been looking for a good raclette grill for sometime, after using several different styles at friends and families homes, I saw this one on Amazon. It arrived intact with all the necessary parts and is very easy to use. The grill top reverses to a crape grill which is also fun.

I recommend this particular grill above others I have used for several reasons. First, it can accomodate 8 people, while many grills max out at 6. Second, it has an adjustable temperature. We generally start out at a higher temperature then when everyone has slowed down and wants to eat slowly and talk I adjust the temperature down. Third, the grill is easy to clean. Its non-stick surface easily wipes off. I would advise to only use the included scrapers on the non-stick surface, if it gets scratched it will not be as easy to use. And fourth, it is very sturdy. This is a solidly built grill and looks great on the table. It is a little more money than some other models, but if you want to use it for years I would definately invest in the better grill.

I have a love for swiss food ever since I came back from Australia and missed my favorite Swiss Restaurant called Kellers. I heard about these Raclette grills from an officemate who used to live in Switzerland. Let me tell you it might seem like a complex item but it truly isn't. It is good for so many uses because it is a grill and broiler in one. On Saturday I go to the store and buy different fresh veggies, french bread, and meats. I marinate the meats and put them in the freezer and fridge. I usually do this in no more than an hour. Then every night after work my husband and I and any guests that might be visiting pull all of these out of the fridge and freezer and grill up whatever we want. Everyone can have the same thing or they can fix their own dishes using all the items you have out. Your options are limitless. We have made kabobs, sandwhiches, stir fry's, potatoes, omlettes, garlic bread, pizza, pretty much everything. Clean up is very simple you just clean the top grill plate and any raclette dishes you used. We keep the grill out on our table for every meal and saves me from standing on my feet all afternoon over a hot stove. Which can be very hard when you have come home late from working a long day! I also have a picky husband and this is a great way for us each to have whatever we want cooked the exact way we want it cooked.

I know and love raclette dinners from my home country Germany, so I was happy to find some that will work in the US. I tried to find out what the dimensions of the raclettes offered are, but without success. There was no answer to get anywhere. The dimensions listed on this page are obviously bogus, Amazon can not be contacted and Swissmar doesn't answer to emails. So finally I decided to just order one and was really disappointed: this raclette is much smaller than the raclettes I'm used to from home. The size of the grill plate is just 24 cm x 36 cm. The dishes are just 8.5 x 8.5 cm. The dishes are all lined up to the two sites, you can't turn the handles of the ones at the end to the front sides. If you sit around a rectangular table, the guests at the front ends of the table will have trouble to reach theirs. This raclette might work for 4 persons but is not suitable for 8 as normal European raclettes are.

Honest reviews on Swissmar KF-77041 Gourmet 8-Person Raclette Grill, Black

We are having a lot of fun with this grill.

This grill is great fun for dinner parties. I have now thrown 4 dinner parties using it from basic grilling to fajitas. I plan to try the round side of the grill next for dessert crepes. Traditional raclette is cheese melted in the drawers, with pickles and cold meats. I also use it as a party activity for more healthy fare by offering a variety of marinated vegetables portobello mushrooms marinated in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil, garlic and red pepper is my favorite. I've grilled shrimp, asparagus, onions, chicken, tofu, bell peppers, sausages, sliced potatoes (I boil them a bit first.) Then I put out sauces for people to dip into as well.

I find it helps break the ice with guests who don't know one another so well, as they can talk about the grilling, etc.

My one complaint is that it would be hard for eight people to use, the most I have used it for now is six, but it worked really well for six. The adjustable heating works really nicely.

If you're looking for something new and fun, I highly recommend it. It is great for dinner parties and book club meetings (everyone can bring something to grill.)

I bought this Raclette grill for my wife thinking that it would just be another kitchen gadget that we never used. Wow, what a great way to have an intimate dinner. It's perfect to enjoy a relaxing meal with 2-4 adults. I guess you could entertain a larger group if you don't mind getting your fixins close to each other! If you're use to eating a fast meal in front of the TV then you should try raclette. It really makes you slow down and enjoy the meal.

We bought some very inexpensive miniature wooden tongs from a Chinese supply store that work very well for taking your food on and off the grill surface. I had to subtract a star just because calling it an 8 person grill is a bit of a stretch.

We should really be hired to test vacuum and carpet cleaners, but even so the price of this dream clean machine gave me some pause (okay, a lot). With 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 2 cats and fairly light carpets, we put our cleaners to the test. I have gone through SEVERAL carpet cleaners (roughly 1 every 2 years) and have also had the carpets professionally cleaned. Honestly, this carpet cleaner cleaned as well if not better than the pros, and worlds better than our current Hoover F6207-900 SteamVac Lite Carpet Cleaner with Heated Cleaning.

Pros:

1) Handle can lay back fully with no strain on the hose I mention this after replacing the hoses several times on previous Hoovers

2) You do NOT have to mix the detergent!!!! Wow what a great feature, no waste!

3) 2 separate rollers actually scrub the carpet amazingly well

4) No fuss dial system incredibly easy to go between standard clean, spot clean (does not pick up so you can scrub, scrub, scrub away the years of bad carpet cleaners), and rinse (the water rinse is GREAT!)

5) Easy to follow indicator lights let you know if you know when it is cleaning (detergent), rinsing (water only), or drying (neither light on)

6) Spot clean is easy to follow actually squirts out the front so you can actually see the spot you are hitting (2 settings, spray or stream)

7) My previous Hoovers had this obnoxious detachable hose reel, and then when the clips that hold it on break, you find yourself dragging accessories around the house this one is not detachable.

8) The hose remains attached, you don't have to plug it in, so no hose door to break and lose (yeah, I've done that too)

9) Scrubber assembly comes off easily for cleaning (but not the front roller, which might be a problem if you don't maintain it)

10) generous cord longer than previous Hoovers

11) 6 year warranty makes it cheaper than replacing 3 $200 Hoovers with 1 year warranties (just check where your service center is ours is about 30 miles away and always very responsive)

12) Since it is clear plastic (opposed to grey or purple) it is easier to see when the water being picked up becomes fairly clear indicating you have extracted the maximum amount of dirt you can

Cons:

1) It's big and heavy and I have tons of stairs

2) Blue light shining on carpet this gives me eye strain after a while

3) Waste container there's no delicate way to dump it it's opening is like a big bucket and it gets everywhere. I suppose it will get better with practice, and it is easier to clean this way, but I think it was a step backward

4) Very small holes to pour in the detergent and water buy a funnel since the detergent is pricey

5) Detergent guzzler

Eh's (take 'em or leave 'em):

1) Heat I don't think it really did much (It didn't feel substantial)

2) Waste container sensor doesn't detect the detergent well, with the clear plastic, it's pretty obvious when they need emptying/filling

3) Blue light why blue simulated uv? It doesn't actually illuminate anything.

4) Carry handle it's made of molded plastic and is in the back, so... yeah, pretty awkward hoisting it up and down the stairs. But, I really don't have a better option, so am not putting it as a con.

How did it do???

If I had known how well it would do, I would have taken pictures or video, because it is unbelievable. I cleaned my ancient 15 year old carpets (about 1600 sq. feet worth) and actually managed to get them back very near their original color. Shockingly old stains that my kidlets provided that were not removed by the pros or the old cleaners are gone. One caveat here is that I used around 64 ounces of detergent. I started with the professional grade, but used the cheap stuff in the kids' rooms (smells better anyway). Based on the amount used and lack of discernable difference, I cannot recommend the "professional" cleaner but instead Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce, which has what I would call a lemony scent. If you are scent sensitive, then try Hoover 40321128 Deep Cleansing Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce. I use the 4-for-3 to really make it a great buy. In any event, I took my time actually read the directions for once and made sure I did several dry passes. I took advantage of the spot clean followed by rinse only for high traffic areas, used the powered hand tool on the stairs, and the upholstery brush on our chairs. All works admirably providing results that made the initial investment worth it. The carpets look amazing and were dry within two hours (aided along by a hot day).

I bought this cleaner yesterday after reading many reviews. My little Bissel steam cleaner stopped vacuuming up the solution after just using it 10 times, so I decided to invest in something I won't have to replace once a year. I was nervous at first because the cleaner is very expensive compared to other cleaners, and putting it together, I was terrified it would break, as it's made of plastic which doesn't feel very strong to me. It was simple to put together and get started, and once I started cleaning, I knew I'd made a good choice. I cleaned the carpet in my 17 month old son's room, and was shocked at how differently this cleaner worked compared to my Bissel. With my Bissel, an entire gallon of solution was sprayed onto my carpet, but only a few ounces of the solution was vacuumed up. I contacted Bissel and they assured me this was normal, as I have thick carpets. However, the carpets sometimes took 24 hours or more to dry, which is very frustrating. Needless to say, I hardly used the Bissel cleaner as it was a pain to wait an entire day for the carpets to dry. With this Hoover cleaner, though, nearly ALL the solution was vaccumed back out of the carpet! It took about 5 hours for the carpet to dry (very thick carpet!) and the dirty water was BLACK when I was done. I'm disgusted at what a terrible job my Bissel did, and grateful that this cleaner works so well!

What I love about this cleaner:

You don't have to mix the detergent in water, the machine mixes it for you, making it easier to clean small areas if needed without making an entire gallon of solution

I'm a small woman and this machine is pretty big, but it's easy to push, I had no problems with it

The LED light on the front reveals conspicuous stains the carpet

The machine rinses and partially dries the carpet, without leaving an overwhelming smell of chemicals in the room

It comes with a 6 year limited warranty. Other Hoover cleaners come with a 1 year warranty. (Hopefully this means that they are confident with this machine, and not that they anticipate problems, I'm quite cynical)

The dirty water bin is VERY easy to clean. My Bissel was terrible to clean, it took me half an hour to clean it because of the design.

The suction is great, it actually vacuums up nearly all the water out of the carpet

It actually gets my carpet clean! Finally!

What I don't like:

The machine appears to be sturdy, but I'm still a little nervous about all the plastic parts. I keep thinking something might break off if I'm not careful. It's an expensive machine and I can't afford for anything to break.

You can use any Hoover detergent in the machine, but the the platinum detergent that comes with it is VERY expensive, much more than Hoover's original detergent. I've contacted them to see what exactly the difference is and if the Platinum detergent actually works better or if the original detergent will do just as well.

Edit: Hoover got back to me and told me that the "Recommended" shampoos for this machine are the Platinum detergent and the Hoover SteamVac Ultra carpet and upholstry detergent. They said the other brands might foam too much and cause problems. The ultra detergent is about half the price of the platinum, so I bought 4 bottles of it with the buy 4, get 1 free deal on amazon. I just used the detergent last night on a fresh chocolate milk stain and it didn't get it out, but I don't know if the platinum would have, either. Seems like decent detergent, though! And a lot more affordable!

Extra Edit: After using this cleaner for several months, I still don't regret buying it because it cleans so well, but I do have a few comments on cleaning it. The rotating brushes on the underside of the cleaner pick up a lot of lint, hair, and gunk that vacuums do not pick up, and the junk gets really nasty in the brushes. I've actually had to take my cleaner outside, turn it over, and pull everything out of the brushes. Very gross, but it keeps from spreading on my carpet. Just wanted to mention the fact. This is still a wonderful cleaner and does a great job, but cleaning the brushes is a bit more extensive than other carpet cleaners I've owned.

Best Deals for Hoover Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner with MaxExtract

I have dogs so I'm always on the lookout for a better and easier way to clean my carpets. I bought this top-of-the-line Hoover Platinum Carpet Cleaner a few months ago. I used it no more than 5 times for some quick clean ups in the first couple of weeks and was very impressed. It did such a good job making "clean spots" that I took it out on the weekend to do the whole carpet.

I used the cleaner as indicated in the manual, and I used only Hoover Platinum cleaning solutions. After cleaning about 120 square feet, in mid-clean, the steamer stopped dead. There was no problem with the outlet; the machine was totally unresponsive. I cleaned it out, put it away, and tried it again the next morning thinking it might have overheated. Still dead, so I returned it. I expected a lot more from a top-of-the-line product from a reputable company.

My experience may not be typical; the cleaner might have been defective. It has a lot of good features, but it also has drawbacks. Factor in the high cost, the PROs and CONs, and make your own decision.

PROs:

1. Minimal assembly. The upper handle attaches with just two nuts and bolts. That's it.

2. 6-year warranty.

3. 30 foot power cord.

4. Spot clean function. You can dispense a thin stream of cleaning fluid or a wider spray and then the brushes will scrub at any set in stains for as long as you want before you set it to extract.

5. DualScrub technology. There are two rows of brushes, a SpinScrub brush and a power groomer brush (like a traditional beater bar brush) located right next to each other. What one brush doesn't get, the other will.

6. MaxExtract technology. This is a heavy machine with significant suction. Despite the weight, it's easy to push and pull and does not leave the carpet saturated.

7. Tank full / tank empty indicator lights let you know when the dirty water recovery tank is full and when the clean water and soap tanks are empty.

8. Powered hand tool with SpinScrub brushes, upholstery tool, and crevice tool on board. Switching over to use the on-board tools is simple and easy.

9. AutoRinse technology. Depress the trigger and push the machine forward and it dispenses the cleaning solution and scrubs the carpet. Keep pressing the trigger as you pull it back toward you and it extracts the dirty water and dispenses a clean water rinse. Release the trigger and do another pass or two back and forth and the Platinum extracts any liquid in the carpet.

10. The soap and clean water are stored in separate tanks and the machine mixes them automatically depending on the type of cleaning you select. This cleaner actually uses less soap than the other carpet cleaners I've owned, which is good since the detergent is quite expensive.

11. A computer-controlled panel that looks like it would be at home on a star ship and lets you know exactly what the machine is doing. Cool and distracting at the same time.

12. The SpinScrub brush bar detaches easily for cleaning.

CONs:

1. The price: $400.

2.The electric blue LED headlight. This is supposed to help illuminate stains, but I found it blinding. The one thing it absolutely did not do was make it easier to see stains. I couldn't even tell where I had cleaned because everything was bathed in this eerie bright blue light. This feature was beyond annoying.

3. Very expensive cleaning fluid. The detergents made exclusively for the Platinum ("professional strength") come in small 50 ounce bottles and cost between $18-$22.

4. If you don't use the Platinum formula detergent, the control panel light indicates that the soap tank is empty because it doesn't "recognize" other detergents. The machine will still work. Hoover says that other less expensive detergents might foam excessively and damage the cleaner.

5. The Direct Heat Drying feature. This just seems like machine exhaust directed at the carpet. It's supposed to help the carpet dry more quickly, but I don't see how a couple of quick passes over a wet carpet blowing some hot air will make a difference.

6. This cleaner is heavy, almost 29 pounds before you add water and cleaning solution, which brings the weight up to near 40 pounds.

7. The clean water tank is 128 ounces (1 gallon) and the dirty water recovery tank is 96 ounces (3 quarts). Because it is so small, it requires frequent emptying, and the timing does not coincide with when the detergent and clean water tanks need refilling. Annoying.

8. It's challenging to get the soap tank, clean water tank, and dirty water recovery tank to slide back on the machine easily. When the clean water tank is full of water, the handle on the tank seems way too flimsy to support the weight of the tank. The bottom of the dirty water tank is not flat and takes a few attempts to get it seated correctly.

9. The soap tank is poorly designed. There are three compartments -the center one that holds the soap and two empty "wings" on either side. It looks like you have more soap in there than you do because 2/3 of the tank is empty. This makes no sense functionally.

10. You are not supposed to store the machine for any length of time with detergent left in the tank, but the design of the tank (fills from a small hole in the top) makes it almost impossible to empty without spilling soap all over the place, and it is way too expensive to waste. Everything about the soap tank is clunky -odd design, wasted space, lack of functionality. This could use a major redesign.

11. It is also challenging to empty the dirty water tank without making a mess. The plastic hinges on the lid are flimsy and a potential weak spot. I accidentally touched the release button for the lid on the dirty water tank while I was carrying it to dump out and it spilled out all over the floor. Draining dirty water out of the tank is so messy that I do it outside and even then, it's messy. It splatters all over the place.

12. The design of the lid on the dirty water tank and the recovery nozzle assembly (the plastic cover through which the water is extracted and from where the heated air comes) makes it hard to rinse clean without splashing water all over the place. Another outside job.

13. You cannot transport the cleaner by wheeling it in an upright position unless you empty the dirty water recovery tank first. If the machine tips back when you push it and the tank is near full, dirty water will slop out (yuck). This is a major design flaw and should have been corrected before Hoover ever released this product for sale to the public.

14. You can remove the SpinScrub brushes easily for cleaning, but not the beater bar-style brush next to it.

For the very short time the Platinum worked, it was a decent carpet cleaner. I love the automatic clean water rinse and the ease of using the tools. The Platinum detergents do a good job and the machine sips rather than gulps the cleaner, but I'm not convinced the soap does a better job than other available brands and it is very expensive. The electric blue headlight has got to go. Hoover should replace it with a clear LED. A really serious concern is how quickly my machine just stopped working altogether; I hadn't even owned it for 3 weeks. For the price and considering the Hoover name, I absolutely expected better. Based on my own experience, I just can't recommend this cleaner.

Honest reviews on Hoover Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner with MaxExtract

My wife and I live in a split entry ranch (raised ranch) home. We have been in it since 1994. Wall to wall carpet with the exception of 2 baths, kitchen/dining room and the laundry room.

We put new carpet in the house when we moved in... and then again when we remodeled in 2004. We had a professional rug cleaner do it (previous to the remodel and currently) every spring and fall (upstairs spring, downstairs fall) until we called to make an appointment a few weeks ago and they were out of business.

We decide to research a home cleaner and give that a try instead of looking for a new company. I Googled "carpet cleaners" and the Bissell Pro Heat 2X 9500 seemed to be the one model that kept popping up and had many good reviews.

I go to one of our local department stores to purchase the Bissell... I asked the manager of this department what he thought of the Bissell and he said "since you asked and to be honest with you... the Bissell cleaners are the most returned model here at the store". I then asked what he recommended. He said "I have a Hoover Steam Cleaner myself and it works well and we hardly get any Hoover returns. We also just got this new Hoover Platinum Collection Cleaner in this past weekend."

So I went with the Hoover F8100900 Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner and I did the upstairs and the stairs... and all I can state is "unbelievable on what a FANTASTIC JOB IT DID !!!".

It looks better than when the professional company had done it! It also dried as fast if not faster.

This machine does what it says it will do... and more!

My Hoover Platinum Carpet Cleaner arrived last Saturday and I put it to work in less than an hour. I have and used both Hoover and Bissell in the past and this, by far, exceeded my expectations. I first cleaned all my area and throw rugs and they look like new. It also did a good job on old pet stains on my main carpet. Cleaning the unit is a snap, except for the horizontal roller! Fibers and pet hair wound up around it and I couldn't clean it without removal. Hoover instructions are silent on how to clean this roller. Being mechanically inclined, I removed 3 screws and detached the roller from it's bearings and belt drive. After cutting off the rolled up hair and carpet fibers and washing the bristles, I reassembled the roller back into the machine. This part of the cleaning took about 20 minutes. Despite this, I highly recommend the machine. It got out dirt I never dreamed was there!

We love the look of this fireplace!! It is contemporary and it fits perfectly with our decor. The remote is a great feature as well. The visual is perfect. A great price for a beautiful fireplace. Very easy to install as well.

I guess I should have learned by now that you get what you pay for. I should not have expected much from this unit. Sometimes you can get a great deal and save a lot. Not in this case.

The box arrived really damaged. I honestly don't know how the item itself was not damaged. Among the other less severe damages, there was a hole all the way through the box on one side.

Once we got it installed, I would say "cute" is the best way to describe its appearance. I realize most electric fireplaces don't look like the real thing, but they have gotten much more realistic in the last few years. This one looks more like they did when they first came out, more like a toy than most late model electric fireplaces. We turned the heat on high to see what the heat factor might be on the wall behind it (it's wood). After a few minutes it did get a little warmer. But, I don't think it will do much for the room it's in. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised but I am not expecting much there. The heater blows from the the top, just fyi.

It started out relatively quiet, but after running for about 15 minutes you could hear the "squirrel cage" inside the unit. Something is a little out of balance I suspect. It's not horrible, but definately noticeable.

The unit I am comparing this one to is a wall mount dimplex. The dimplex costs 3-4 times as much but the quality difference shows. I have seen other units that would compare favorably to the dimplex but they were all much more expensive than this unit.

If you get this unit, be aware it is cheap for a reason.

This product looks great! Very modern looking and can be placed almost anywhere. It's pretty heavy, the only thing I'm not really impressed with is the amount of heat it pumps out. I have a condo, that has wall heaters, and it's the first place I've lived without a fireplace so this was a must. HOwever, my heating bills are very high, and so I try to keep it off after the first two months. The flames look pretty nice, and the rocks inside are a nice touch.

This is exactly what I was searching. The unit is perfect on an empty wall across from my bed. I have a very lg room. This unit does warm up the room better than I expected (I had very low expecations)

It had so much potential to be such a beautiful addition to my home. The scraping metal sound is just so sad.
