I bought this model from Home Depot on clearance to warm up my basement last winter. It was a very long winter, and I ended up keeping it on 24/7 for almost 8 months. There was an immediate improvement even in the chilliest corner as soon as I switched it on, and the thermostat option was very helpful. Just recently the power light started flickering, and after that the overheat alarm started going off. I feel I got more than I paid for and so I hunted down the same model again for this winter!

This china built turd burned out in less than a few months. The wires inside melted and smoked. Very risky for home use. PAtton outsourced these from china and the Chinese make junk. DONT BUY THIS.

Bought one of these about 2 weeks ago, seemed to work well at first. A few hours later the fan was making an annoying chirping noise off and on.

Fast forward 2 weeks, and I smell a burning electronic smell but can't tell where it's coming from. A few minutes pass and suddenly I see my shiny new space heater shooting sparks like crazy. Luckily I was across the room, and quickly unplugged it, otherwise it likely would have started a fire.

I bought a cheap one under the assumption they're pretty simple products, and anything should do the trick, but apparently "not burning your house down" is something you have to pay a little extra for.

I have been using one of these for seven (yes, 7) years at work and it's showing no signs of giving up the ghost. It runs almost all day every day including summer because the AC at work is too cold for me. I actually have another one waiting in the wings in case this does finally quit and am now buying one to replace a 9-year-old old Maxi-Heat in my bathroom. To those who let heaters run unattended (as in when you're sleeping)... you just shouldn't. If you must, get an oil-filled radiator type they're much safer to leave unattended

Well last night I woke up and felt cold. But the heater was still making noise. I got up and all the elements were off, there was a funny smell but the fan was still blowing cool air out. I toggled the switch and nothing would work.

So, I unplugged the heater, got my flashlight and screwdriver and looked inside. I took it apart(fan side) and the wire connected to the element had literally melted through the connection point and there were signs of burnt plastic on the wire and the connection point.

Basically there was a mini fire inside the unit while I was SLEEPING.I cannot explain how uncomfortable this knowledge made me feel today. I got lucky, but someone else might not.Someones kids may not,please avoid this product. I would never recommend this unit to anyone. Please don't buy this unit it quite literally could burn your house down while you sleep. Btw, the overheat alarm never went off, I don't understand how this unit is still on the market.

I am currently sitting in a cold room tonight because I have no heater down here atm. I need to get one tomorrow.If you have any question I will try to answer them.

As soon as I figure out how I will be reporting this to UL and see what they have to say, I have seen a few other negative fire related reviews about this product online.

Nowhere is it written for one time use.

Ordered this in December. Self sealed with 2 metal prongs on the bottom. Worked fine the first time water escaped the sink while doing laundry. Not very loud though. But after I took it out of the water it kept ringing. Tried to dry it with paper towels, ring it dry etc, but it kept ringing. after 4hrs finally died and has stopped working. Called the company and they are refunding me the price of one device, but won't ever use it it again.

We have been using these for over 3 years. They sound a very loud alarm at the slightest presence of water. Even a small spray from a spray bottle will set them off. I have to make sure whatever they're on is very dry after cleaning the area so they won't go off. Wish I had them in our former house when the water line to the refrigerator had a puncture and caused a lot of damage.

I bought this thing to replace my Mr. Coffee mug warmer. This Brookstone is basically useless as a warmer unless you are perhaps using a mug with an entirely FLAT bottom (which would allow more contact with the heating element.) I've yet to see such a coffee mug however, and I have looked a lot.

The Mr. Coffee I own is adequate in that it keeps the coffee warm, though not nearly as hot as I'd like. The Brookstone, with it's "high and low" heat settings doesn't improve things any, as even on the high setting it is not as hot as the Mr. Coffee model.

I purchased this to replace an identical warmer that lasted for several years in almost daily use in my office. My old one did not have automatic shut-off, and as a consequence was sometimes left on as long as over a weekend. I've titled this review "Better than expected" only because of the many negative reviews associated with the product. After using the new one for a couple of months, I can report that it performs exactly as advertised, and the automatic shutoff is a much appreciated added feature. I use several different styles of coffee mugs on this warmer, all with rimmed bottoms. Set on high, the warmer keeps my coffee HOT. Just barely cool enough to drink. And, it looks cool too.

Luckily, a friend gave me this Brookstone warmer (used) so I didn't waste any money on it. She gave it to me because she accidentally broke the $5 Target cup warmer I had. I thought "oooh, a Brookstone. looks fancy" but it's mostly useless!

My cheap Target warmer kept my drinks much, much hotter. This barely keeps them above room temperature. And I thought it was because it was used that maybe it had lost its effectiveness. I can see by the other reviews, that's not true.

I can't believe how much this costs new. What a waste.

I wish I could find the same Target model I had, but I've never seen them there again :(

I purchased this expensive item (from an Amazon seller; fulfilled by Amazon) because it has an auto-shutoff feature. That worked, but the base of the warmer became so hot that if it had not been on a glass surface, it would surely have scorched the wood. I returned it as defective and hoped to hear back from the seller offering a replacement, but I did not. It makes me wonder if the product was actually working properly but designed very poorly.

This product is pretty much worthless. I first tried with a mug that had a raised ring bottom (i.e. not a lot of contact area). That one didn't work at all. I brought in a stoneware mug with a completely flat bottom still didn't keep the coffee hot. Used it on the high setting.

I contacted Brookstone directly. They completely blew me off. Would not do a thing for me.

Beautiful for what its for. I mean, I bought it for the intention of catching wayward burning embers.This thing is much nicer than I thought it was going to be. Better than the image presented here. Very nice accent to the room AND FUNCTIONAL TOO!!

Been two years forgot I even bought it here until Amazon just forwarded a question about the product to me. After two years, still going strong and still looks great. One of the better quality purchases I've made. Larger than what I've used in the past, better looking than what I've used in the past, and being a large hearth product in general, I no longer stress over the average ticks and pops can leave the room unattended in confidence.

If you're looking for something along these lines look no further.. I really don't say that much.

This is the second Zojirushi boiler I've owned. The first one was on day & night for 10 years so I wasn't the least bit concerned about replacing it with the same brand and similar model. I first saw one of these while visiting friends in Hong Kong -everyone there keeps one on their counter for instant hot water for tea or soup. I love it and so will you.

Well, it's mothballed for the winter, not enough sun for heavy electrical loads, 800w for 30 minutes, and then the standby heater, needs too much generator runtime. Just had 9 days of clouds, and now another storm on the way.

When I purchased this fan from Amazon, I did so after going to my local drugstores. Being that it was the end of August, many of those stores no longer sold electric fans (to make room for Halloween I'm sure!). So, of course, I turned to my trusty Amazon.com. Boy, am I glad I did! This is a great fan! I particularly like the black coloring, since the white fan I previously owned showed dirt way too quickly. I also loved the fact that it is tall, and especially liked the adjustable height and tilt features. These were the main reasons I purchased the fan. In addition, I liked the four-legged base. I felt it was steadier than the round or square bases of other pedestal fans, especially on carpet. The fan also oscillates, but like many other fans, turns only about 90 degrees. I am not disappointed since this is typical, although I do have another fan with a wider sweep. The fan also has three speeds. I have only had to use the Low speed, and that has been enough to keep me cool and the room's air circulating. Of course, the fan is only six feet away from me, so I have not had to use the higher settings to keep me cool. All-in-all I highly recommend this product. It was a cool purchase (pun intended) and so far a great buy!

I compared varies models and then saw this was priced the best. It works great. Great airflow. Solid stand. Easy to assemble. Won`t tip over easily. Quality construction Quiet. Almost 99% of products have negative reviews. I have bumped this fan with my wheelchair and it didn`t tip over. My animals and kids are playful and even they couldn`t tip it over. It doesn`t have a folding base. I have run it 24/7 in the summer. WindStream is also a good brand. The only con these fans have is the cover takes 2 men and a boy to put it on and the handle to carry them is worthless.

My main complaint about this fan is that it doesn't put out a lot of air, even on the high setting. Past a few feet, I can't feel anything. It is fairly quiet, but that's probably because it doesn't have enough energy to really move the air. The low setting is so low I can't believe anyone would bother with it. I'd rather have a far stronger fan, even a small desk fan, that put out more air than this thing. It's not really worth $2l even on sale.

I purchased this fan especially for the folding base, I have 2 other fans and was looking to replace them with fans that could be stored away when not in use. After receiving this item I noticed right on the box it said nothing of a folding base, so I proceed ed to remove the fan from the box and sure enough no folding base. After contacting the seller the provided a return label sad that the wrong item must be displayed on amazon. I returned said item however was still charged for the fraudulent fan being shipped to me. I come back to right this review and sure enough it still says folding base either they shipped me the wrong fan or they are still falsely advertising this fan. Beware. Note, it was also not properly packaged for shipment was just the product box which arrived very mush so torn apart due to the harshness of shipping.

We are on a budget and wanted a fireplace insert for our custom fireplace surround that we were building. Our major concerns were price (of course), realism and depth of unit. I knew the price and size were good from the description but I was a little leery about the flame effect. I unpacked it and fired it right up and was quite impressed with the effect, it is better than I thought it was going to be.

On the heating ability I would describe its heat output and noise level equivalent to a ceramic heater.

My wife now wants another one for our bedroom.

Bought this machine in January 2012 and it's still going strong. Popcorn machine was a big hit at parties and my family reunion. Once you use this machine you won't go back to microwave popcorn. It's easy to operate and clean. If you want movie theatre popcorn you have to get coconut oil and butter popcorn salt.

The one small problem i had that i quickly figured out is that you have to use a little less than 4 ounces of popcorn seeds to cook all in kettle. If you use 4 oz or more, only half the popcorn would pop. So, 3 to 3.5 oz seems to be the magic number for my machine.

This style of popper has been around for decades. There is a stainless steel kettle suspended from the roof of the cabinet, with a stirrer, and you put the kernels inside to heat in the oil and then spill out when the lid lifts.

The sides are tempered safety glass panels while the doors are polycarbonate plastic. You use commercial popping oil (coconut oil based) that can take the high heat of the popper. The cleaning is relatively simple; the worst job is occasionally cleaning out the windows as they get a bit greased up. There is a drawer to hold the unpopped kernels.

After much research, I decided on this model popper from Great Northern. I purchased a box of their 4oz pre-measured popcorn to go along with this and popped my first batch after taking about 10 minutes to set everything up. Four minutes later I had my first batch of popcorn. I think each popped batch is enough for two people so I'm happy with the volume. The design of the machine seems fine to me. Nothing was obtrusive and nothing was excessive. Simple and easy. I'm extremely happy with this popper and so far I think it is worth the cost. Their owners manual could use some simplifying but that's just being nitpicky.

I love this candle warmer. It's very cute, warms candles well, and is exactly as pictured. It also puts out just enough light that I like to leave it on in the living room at night for those middle of the night bathroom trips. I have only found two small issues. One, having it fairly close to our front door, I am always having to fish moths out of the melted wax. Secondly, I did have a little trouble finding the right sized candle for it. Seemed everything I had around the house was either way too small, or just shy of fitting. That being said, I did find a good jarred candle at my local Wally World that worked perfectly. Obviously, most candles don't tell you their dimensions, but I always carry my handy-dandy lil pocket tape measure. FYI: 5"tall x 3 1/2"diameter this size fits perfectly snug in the lantern!! I do LOVE the lantern though, and plan on getting another.

I love these! They are so pretty and provide great ambient lighting more than just burning the candle would provide. It's just a lovely, aromatic, lamp. I love the aroma that wafts through the room, it smells much cleaner and better than when I burn the same candles. Obviously, it is obviously safer and I notice that the black smoke residue from previous candle burnings is now gone, which I love, and the candles stay full and don't burn down to nothing now, which makes me wonder how much of that waxy residue we have been breathing in all this time. I read that the scent leaches out immediately but I have some favorite candles I always buy and they seem to be infused all the way through and have not had this problem. I occasionally add a few drops of essential oils in to boost the scent so if you find that your candles lose their scent quickly this is a good option to help prolong them.

I will be getting more of these (have four for myself) for Christmas gifts this year, especially for my mother-in-law who is elderly and a forgotten burning candle could be a problem.
