I like that these bottles are so cheap, have free shipping, are a white see through color so that I can see the water level and see if there is anything that should not be inside in it, have a removable spigot on the side, and they are collapsible. The bottles are relatively thinner plastic so I will not use that feature much in order to not stress out the bottles. They do the job for the cheapest amount of money I've found and that's basically what I like them for. I will get heavy duty quality water bottles in the future, I think.

I also like that these bottles are really easy and very lightweight to carry. I leant some to my mother and she loved them. They're very easy to carry compared to a standard 5 gallon water bottle, even the wide mouth blue bottle with the tap. Although I like both.

I did get the bottle that leaked. It had a torn seam right out of the box. I had read that could happen in the reviews. I wish they were made sturdier, and then they'd be almost perfect. But, if you're willing to bet that you don't get too many leaky bottles, this is good. I think I would in the future just because of all of the great things about it. I'll see and I'll update my review later.

Do not waste your money. Took on a 3 day primative camp trip. Cap will not tighten onto bottle without stripping out so it could not be used in a position to use the valve. Purchase a Reliance brand bottle instead, they have served me well.

This is a piece of junk. On first use i noticed it is nearly impossible to prevent a leak from the threads. After a couple of uses sitting on picnic tables or the ground, multiple punctures have developed, that I have had to patch. The plastic is cheap and easily punctures. Its depressing to get to the middle of nowhere and find an empty container with water all over the floor of your trunk. Coleman products are cheap, you get what you pay for. I am done with buying Coleman.

I thought this was going to work for the area directly above out hot tub, boy was I wrong. I mounted this 8 foot above the front side of the hot tub and angled it so it would heat the area above everyone's head. While mounting it I was extremely happy from looking at the construction, solid metal, great mounting brackets, along with a long cord.

First off from reading other reviews I kept reading 10 x 10 area, in my test we were hoping for 9 x 7 foot section. I was hoping this would take the edge off from the winds that blow thru in the winter months. The plus would be to provide us with a area directly under the heat light to dry off in the warmth.

That night the temperature dropped to 55 degrees and very little wind. So we were ready to try it out. And i felt this would be a EASY test for this to pass.

After plugging the unit in, I wondered around the hot tub to feel the heat, it was almost nothing more then 6 foot directly in-front of the light. I didn't let that ruin the night so we got in the hot tub, I also started realizing my private area in my own back yard was really under the spot light now. This 1500 watt light produces a lot of visible light.

In comparison, I grabbed a yellow bug light and put it in a shop light. The 100 watt bug light was less to at the most about the same brightness of this heat light. The heat produced was good enough to heat the first 3 feet as if I was a hamburger at a fast food restaurant and nearly non existent 6 foot out. But in comparison, you would be better off buying two satco s4998 heat lights that produce about the same heat and far less visible light for over a $250 savings. Along with saving 1000 watts of electricity.

Final test was to try this out in my garage I mounted this on the ceiling about 9 foot above my shop area, I left this on for 10 mins and came back to find it did an fair-OK job warming a closed area, insulated area. After the 10 min test I was satisfied to say this unit works ok indoors, but is far from the manufactures statements comparing this is a outdoor commercial unit.

In conclusion this unit could work if your goal is to heat and light a small enclosed area. If your goal is to heat the outdoors this is not for you unless you are only looking for a small area outside so one person can smoke in the dead of winter without freezing to death

Recommended product instead, each light can easly take the chill off a 4x4 area, or inside 8x12 x 2 lights

I love this heater. I use it all the time at work and it keeps me warm and toasty. I love that it has a dial so that if you get too hot you can turn it down. It heats up super quick and turns itself on and off to keep the right temperature. Its nice and small and has a nice look to it too. I like it so much that I'm buying another one to keep my bathroom warm for when I take showers. Oh, and for the people that say there is no on/off switch, you just turn the dial all the way down to turn it off. The light stays on, but the heater will not come on if you have the dial all the way down. Trust me, I have it plugged in at work all the time.

This is the perfect little heater and I know space heaters as I own about 3 of them already. I use this one at work. We aren't supposted to have space heaters but it is soooo cold at work that I would be absolutely miserable without it. Because of the size, it's easy for me to keep this one out of sight. I keep it plugged in to its own surge protecting power strip so it doesn't ever disturb the other computers in the area. When I leave for the day, I can lock it up in one of my filing cabinets. I can't say enough good things about it. I love the thermostat feature, if I get too warm, it's easy to turn down. I just ordered a second one for my bathroom. If you need a tiny space heater that really warms you up, then this is the one!

I purchased this heater to add a little heat to my office, which luckily for me has a window, but unluckily for me, also has a draft. I've been very happy with the results! The built-in thermostat keeps the office at a steady temperature, which is perfect. It doesn't take up much space, which is also a bonus. Downsides: There is no off-switch, so I have to unplug it at the end of the day. That's not so great, because occasionally I forget if the blower is not actively running when I'm getting ready to leave. The noise level from the machine is reasonable, though certainly not silent. In summary, this model perfectly meets my needs. For the price and convenience, it is worth tolerating the minor downsides. And it was affordable. I'd definitely purchase this model again.

Update 11/26/06: I said I'd purchase this again, and now that I have a new drafty bedroom, I have just ordered this product again. I anxiously await its arrival this week.

Review of Johnson Controls Digital Thermostat Control Unit

I use the thermostat to control the temperature in a chest freezer that I use for fermenting beer (35-55 F). The controller works great for this purpose. I also have a second one that I plan on using to operate a HERMS device for my mashing system. You can set the controller to operate a heater or cooling device but you must reposition "jumpers" inside the unit (not difficult but a pain if you plan on doing it often). If you want a unit that switches automatically betweem cooling and heating, you are better off with the more expensive Ranco controller.

This particular controller will allow you to set the target temperature (as either a closing or openning point), the number of degrees of variance from target before the unit turns on/off, a time delay before the unit is allowed to reactivate the device(great for extending the life of a freezer or fridge), power supply on/off option in the case of unit failure and options for using remote monitoring/controlling if you choose to upgrade.

For the money, it is the best value on the market. No wiring required, simply plug in the device to the controller and the controller into the wall. The Ranco offers more options if you prefer to wire your own device or you can go all out and use a Love or other commercial controller that is fully customizable but is best mounted into a control device panel. Check out for examples of what can be done with more sophisticated controller units.

Its easy to use...the manual makes it seem overly complicated.

SP: setpoint (for my purpose 67) the temperature you want the thing to try and maintain.

dIF: differential (1 to 30F, default = 5) I leave at default, this is the point + or from the setpoint temp (so 62 to 73 in my case.

ASd: anti-short cycle delay (0 to 12 minutes, default = 1)I set to 12 minutes, just to put the least amount of stress on the compressor.

I recommend it!

I have been looking at sous vide water ovens for years now, but could just not bring myself to spend $500 or more on one. Then I discovered the Johnson Controls Control unit. I paired this unit with the Maxi-Matic MST-800V Elite Gourmet Large 8-1/2-Quart Slow Cooker, a Danesco Roasting Rack Oval 6x9 Inch Non-stick (which fits perfectly in the bottom of the slow cooker, and a Weber 6479 Grill Press (cast iron, but covered in enamel so it won't rust). The grill press is heavy enough to hold the vacuum sealed bag with meat in it down again against the roasting rack. I use a plastic twist tie to attach the temperature probe to the handle of the grill press for accurtate water temp measurement. The toast holder or Cutting Board Organizer / Napkin Holder can be wired to the handle of the grill press sitting on the bottom of the crock pot and used to hold smaller individually sealed pieces of meat or steaks to keep them submerged in the bath and separated.

So for a total of $177.18, I got myself, what I think, is a very nice sous vide set up that can be adapted to a variety of sizes and pieces of meat or seafood.

Addendum: 7/18/2013

Used the sous vide for the first time this weekend and it's performance was stellar. I cooked a plain, old, run of the mill, chuck roast with nothing but salt and pepper on it. I cooked it at 142 degrees for 2 1/2 days. However, next time I need to reduce the temp some. When I took it out it was medium well and I prefer medium rare. It was just pink, but no red juices. I must say though, even though it was done more than I prefer, it was the best roast beef I have ever had, anywhere, anytime. You literally could eat this without teeth it was so tender. I cut mine in pieces and dipped it in steak sauce. It really rivaled a filet mignon. If you have the time and can plan ahead, this is the only way to cook meat. I am going to do a pork loin in the sous vide for pulled pork for a pot luck I have coming up next month.

I recently moved to a Co-op Complex that has Emerson in the wall units. This unit is easy to install (but very heavy), blows very cold air out and the remote is easy to use. It comes with the stuffer sealer and replacement sealer for inside the wall sleave. My living room is 12' wide and is approx. 36' long. The air circulates rather well and after having the A/C on for a little while, the temperature reader on the remote control did drop severl degrees. This was when we had a heat wave of 93 degrees or higher for several days in a row. It defiantly is powerful, I had the bathroom door closed and it was hot in there while the living room was noticably cooler than earlier. For 12,000 BTU the energy rating was not bad at 9.0 but its not an energy star model. Still, it was much better than the 20 year old A/C that it replaced. I believe the other model that was less than 12,000 BTU had an energy efficiency rating of 9.4 which my maintence guy said isn't really noticable and the new Frigidaire 12,000 BTU model is much better at energy efficiency than the old Emerson that I replaced it with. Still when I replace the other 2 Emerson A/C's I think I'll stick with Frigidaire.

Update: 7/26/08

This unit is great! My electric bill is not making me twist my head like from The Exorcist. I just bought its middle sibling, the 10,000 BTU unit for my bedroom and its great. My bill only slightly went up a few dollars but that was it. Last year when I had the Emersons going, the bill was constantly over $70. I got the 10,000 BTU A/C for $350 from PCR. The 12,000 BTU A/C from the same place was about $410 last year. Frigidaire and LG are the only products that we buy. (major appliances)

For a 12000 BTU unit there are some givens: it's going to be heavy, it's will raise your electric bill some to have it running, and it's going to make a little noise. If you can live with those things, this is a great unit.

You should know: this unit requires a single 20 amp, 230 V outlet #10 or #12 wire from the outlet to the breaker. It should be on its own circuit breaker (2-pole breaker). Installation of the wall sleeve was challenging due to poorly written instructions, which caused me to take the heavy unit in and out of the sleeve a few times. Installation of the A/C unit itself is pretty straightforward: slide it into the wall sleeve, stuff insulation around gaps (also sprayed some Great Stuff for extra measure), slide in the edge trim, plug it in.

The room I installed this in is a 400 sq ft bonus room over our garage. We let the A/C run if we're actually in the room. The room never gets chilly, but the unit keeps it comfortable before installation it was uncomfortably hot. We watch TV or the kids play in this room. When the unit is on high fan we turn up the volume on the TV about 10 dB (a minor adjustment), and the fan is background white noise. Not enough to be bothersome, but this is by no means a silent unit.

The remote on this particular model doesn't have a temperature sensor. Great idea but you won't see it with this model. In the place of the "remote sensor" button is a button simply labeled "heat."

The unit has three control options: fan control, temperature control, and timer control. You can set the fan to low, medium, high or "Auto Temp," which means it automatically blows high until the desired temperature is reached, then it will switch to a lower fan setting. Lower fan speeds are quieter. The temperature options are cool, heat, fan only, and "Energy Saver," which the manual describes as: "In this mode, the fan will continue to run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 2 minutes at 10 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the unit cooling system starts again." The timer allows you to do a delayed start, a delayed stop, or sleep mode. Sleep mode will adjust the temperature (up in cool mode, down in heat mode) 2 degrees at a time every 30 minutes. After adjusting the temperature twice it will maintain the temperature for seven hours. We don't sleep in our bonus room, so you decide if that feature is useful to you.

Just purchased this (Lowe's $38) and used it last night. I've used various (all ceramic) models over the years and was very pleased with this one planned to return to Lowe's for a second unit and was checking prices on Amazon. Will now be exchanging it for the tower version of this model (didn't realize it featured a multi-function remote) which received great reviews here. The oscillator works well (90 degrees side to side).

NOTE: despite the claim here of an internal tip-over switch (not stated on the carton) this unit will not shut off until the overheat sensor activates. I did not wait for that to occur as I tipped the running unit over backwards, forwards and each side the only difference was reduced air output on its back (since the carpet was blocking the fan's air input) and higher temp setting when tipped forward (as the temp+ button contacted the carpet).

Bottom Line: had I not found a more desirable alternative, or preferred a shorter unit, I would have purchased a second identical unit and been quite satisfied (although careful to reduce tip-over risk).

I ordered this product because it has Energy Star and ECO Energy setting. It also has a remote so when I'm ready to turn off the light to go to sleep I can simply turn it off without getting up again. It's not the warmest heater ever, but that's probably because I use the "Eco" button to save energy. It heats my small bathroom adequately, but not my small bedroom. For years I've used a kerosene heater to heat my garage, and found it acceptable for occasional use. On my last trip to the gas station, Kerosene was over $5 per gallon. Now, each time I wanted to do a project in the garage during the winter, it cost me $3 to $4 just to take off the cold! Being the cheapskate that I am, I shopped the online used stuff site we all love, and purchased a used blue flame heater for $80, that looked like new. The owner told me it worked great. So I parted with the cash and hooked everything up to my new gas line in the garage. After an hour, I went out to see how things were going. Obviously, there was a problem, because the garage stunk to high heaven. I had just wasted $80.

After reeling from my loss of four crisp Twenty Dollar Bills, I suddenly became a very smart shopper. While I was not able to do comparisons on anything but paper, I decided on the ProCom based on what "seemed" to be the popularity of the system. Also, I went with the infra-red design, based on the notion that newer usually means improved. Minutes ago, I fired up my new heater, and I could not be happier. After a few minutes of running, there are no fumes at all. I even went outside for a breath of fresh air, and to tune up my nostrils for anything I may not have detected earlier. No problem! This thing burns clean!

I live in the Detroit area, and could not locate a retail store where I could pourchase this unit. On-line seemed to be my only option. Then, as I was driving to Central Michigan University to pick up my daughter, it occurred to me that the buyer demographic in Mt. Have been using an electric metabolic heater for years in the garage, decided it was time to get more comfortable. Installed this heater in my garage, aka "Man Cave" and couldn't be happier. I would say this is the best item I have purchased in the past few years. Installation was simple, hookup to natural gas a plus and it heats up a 3 car garage in a little over an hour from about 45 to 70 degrees, exactly what I was looking for. Gas is so much cheaper than electricity it just makes $ence. Would definitely recommend and buy again.

This is a loud heater thats does cut off periodically when it gets too hot; although I am still cold. It also blew the curcuit. I would not recommend purchasing and I will probably send it back.

When my 5 year old Maytag top loader washer crapped out, I decided to replace my 18 year old dryer as well. I Purchased the matching set of Samsung 330 washer and dryer. If I knew then what I know now, I would have purchased these front loaders a few years ago.

I did a lot of research and found most of these front load washers use much less water, less electricity, and do a better job at cleaning clothes than most top loaders. My laundry is on the 2nd floor of my house so I was concerned about noise and vibration. And of course like everyone else I was looking for the best value for my dollar. Some reviews complain of vibration. Maybe they were not leveled correctly. Mine was delivered and installed professionally. The machine is super quiet and vibration free even to the touch. The only noise or vibration comes from the super fast spin cycle, and even that is much less than my previous top loader.

Here's what I have found so far:

Pros:

Cleans better than top loaders

Will handle much larger loads

Uses less detergent

Uses much less water

Uses less electricity

You can barely hear it run

Very little to no vibration, even to the touch.

The fast spin cycles removes more water from the clothes thereby making the dryers job that much easier.

Cons:

The cycles are about 20% longer than my previous top loader.

Be careful. Go to Google and search "Samsung washer won't spin". This washer has a problem spinning. My washer is installed in our basement on a concrete floor. It is level (has been checked by a technician as well as us). The load cannot balance and it won't spin. Once it tries to spin and can't, it throws the load back into a rinse cyle. This is why the load of wash on "Normal" takes almost 2 hours instead of 58 minutes!! Samsung finally admitted to us through the repair tech that the oil surrounding the drum gets thick at any temperature under 60 degrees. That leads to problems with spinning/balancing the load. If you are putting this washer in your basement or garage or any place it may drop below 60 degrees...think twice. We may try to return this to the store where purchased but I am afraid I will have to fight for it. A very expensive mistake.

I never really liked how this machine did wash. It was unpredictable in how long the cycle was, whether it would get the HE detergent completely out of your clothes, etc.

But this is what did it for me. An undocumented error code, that requires a service call, appeared on our machine 1 year and 10 days after we bought it (but less than 1 year after we received it since it was back ordered) and Samsung wants to charge me for a service call.

And the manager on the help desk can't do anything about it.

This is only what I can describe as horrible customer service.

This machine doesn't have the annoying buzzer that our last machine did. It chimes. At first the dial with all the buttons was intimidating and I thought I would have to read the manual from cover to cover just to run it. However, I soon found out after turning it on how really user friendly it was. It even alarmed letting me know that it's hot water hose was crimped. Sure enough the hose was crimped and after getting it straightened out it was good to go again. It is really easy to pause the cycle too. This machine uses very little water and is very quiet so if your like me you may think something is wrong with it and sit with a flashlight looking in watching in amazement. You can really cram a lot in it and it all come out clean, and unlike top loaders it uses less soap and won't mess your bras up around a central spindle.

We are very pleased with the washing machine. It is very easy to read the front of the machine to do the type of fabric you wish to wash. It is very quiet running and has a set tone to set when finished washing. I could recommend this washing machine to anyone who was interested.

We did finally purchase these because our Fiestaware plates are so thick, they pull the heat from your food. These heat mats definitely do what they claim, but there are a couple of things that concerned us. First, they DO smell like a car tire when heated. You don't have to have a sensitive nose to get this. The smell of car tires isn't the worst thing, but I don't think it's very appetizing, either. The smell does transfer to the plate until the condensation evaporates, but we did notice that they sometimes leave a film on the plate that doesn't go away with the condensation. Not sure if this is something the silicone secretes, or some kind of other reaction to heat, but I don't want it on my food. We have been able to wipe it off with a dry paper towel and have continued to use the heat mats, despite this nuisance. That said, we certainly do like having warmer food on our plates. I just hope I don't start turning into Lou Ferrigno!

My wife & I love these. It is so simple. Just put on flat plate, stack multiple plates, and put in microwave on high for 30 seconds. The plates get really hot and the edges are plenty cool to touch. It has really saved our food from getting the heat zapped so quickly in the winter, especially for food that doesn't hold its heat very long like eggs and pancakes. But we use it for every hot dinner, even before placing pizza slices on a plate. It really couldn't work any better. They are simply constructed, so I would expect them to last a very long time. Just have a hot pad handy to set the warmer on after you take it off the plate. It doesn't hold its heat very long on its own, but for a few seconds it is pretty hot, mostly from heat from your plate which retains its heat.

I'm sure warming times vary by your microwave. On my 1100 watt microwave (1650 input, 1100 cooking output), it takes only 30 seconds on my thickest plates stacked by 2, and less on smaller thinner plates. I would be careful about over heating your plates if too rapid of expansion could possibly crack your plate. I have plates I really like and haven't been worried at all by these. I just don't push it. 30 seconds is really hot for my thick plates.

I used to run hot water and dry them, which took a while so I rarely did it. This is so much more effective and easy.

Following directions, we used these several times. The third time, it cracked a plate that we'd long had and often heated in the oven. As one thinks about it, this isn't too surprising: The ServIt heats the center of the plate strongly while not heating the circumference at all; thermal stress is a certain result and a cracked plate is a likely outcome--as we found in practice. These warm the plates, but they leave behind a nasty plastic smell. I like a warm plate, but not enough to make my plate smell like burnt plastic. Also, who knows what chemicals are involved in that smell? Made in China (a country that doesn't have the best rep for product safety). And yes, I DID wash these off in warm soapy water before using (as the directions indicated).
