I have had this heater for 2 months. It works so well I bought another infrared heater for my mother (hers is an EdenPure). I love the air purifier, my allergies have gotten much better. And I REALLY love the warmth in my living room because of this heater. I have a PGE Smart Meter which means I can check my electricity usage every day. Our electric usage has gone up about $1.20 a day or about $36 a month using the infrared every day at medium heat. But our propane usage has gone down about $100 a month, that means I am saving around 60-70 dollars a month. And, while I am saving money, I am warm and toasty, something I never was before! Try INFRARED heat, people. Don't let the naysayers change your mind before you try it. There are less expensive infrared heaters out there, just try one before you say no! Just remember, this is directional heat and different locations will change the warmth that you will feel.

Takes a long time to heat a room. Thermostat is not functional as it has to be set at 75 in order to heat a room to 67 degrees. When set at 75 it shuts down when 67 is reached. Left phone & email messages with company & no response. Will return the 2 that I purchased.

We bought one for the greenhouse so when temps dip the tomatoes/pepper will not freeze. This keeps the temps up above freezing great. That fan is whisper quiet especially compared to the older units. Not a huge price for running the product compared to the cost and hassle of kerosene. The instructions could have been clearer. This does seem to be a cost effective way to combat the cold but in my case electricity is essential. Bought ours from Costco for $200, online.

I simply love this heater. I have not had the problem with customer service that the other person has related. Mine works fantastic. It heats up the one room we have it in in minutes. The beautiful thing I like about this heater is it is not drafty. My other heaters create a draft in the room so I prefer to not use them. Works fantastic. It is pricey but worth the price.

Flames don't look too fake to make it unattractive. Really cool looking unit. Not sure what kind of heat it emits since it's not winter yet. I'm just using it to supplement the heat in the master bedroom anyway.

Would recommend it. Gives a darkened room some ambience.

I like the Cadet products. These appear very well made, with good quality heating elements inside. I probably undersized mine because I had limited electric power capacity (60 Amps whole house), but, let 'em run. I hooked them up to Honeywell basic line-in thermostats on the wall. Mine are 240v 500 watt (uses about 2 amps). After the initial new smells burn off, they are quite pleasant. Installation, other than runniing all the wiring, was a snap.

this heater does not get hot, the heat comes and goes in waves. it only heats up on the bottom so you need to keep turning it over in your hand.

This handwarmer has a microUSB port for charging. It lasts quite a few hours on one charge, but I have never used it from full charge to dead so I have no idea how long it actually is.

It doesn't need a "sock" or cover, as it never gets quite warm enough to risk burns. It doesn't hold heat when exposed to cold air, but kept in a pocket it keeps things nice and toasty.

MicroUSB cables and AC->USB adaptors are ubiquitous, so I can charge it pretty much anywhere. I got mine last year, and after the summer in storage it still works fine. My only complaint is that it can only warm up one pocket at a time, so I may invest in a second one.

I was a little hesitant on getting an electric hand warmer. However, when I got this I was more than pleased. Great quality and the battery lasts a long time on high (6.5 hrs). It felt good in my pants pocket on a New Jersey winters night! I am getting another one and attaching it to a belt that will go o n my back near my kidneys to keep me really warm!

We've owned this for a while now (only been used 2 times prior), and this was my first time using the machine. I've just spent 2 hours trying to clean an approximately 13'x13' area it is practically impossible to operate it without a manual.

There are two tanks one with a bladder that is part of a two piece assembly that needs to be taken apart, to be filled with water; and another for a detergent/shampoo solution. The dirty water that is the result of the cleaning is deposited in the same tank as the water bladder, just on the outside of the bladder. You are supposed to pull the trigger (non-tactile) on the handle to generate a spray (which you can't see) there is no way that one can tell how much detergent or water is deposited with each pull of the trigger, other than actually walking over the area one just cleaned to feel how wet the carpet is.

The sprayer apparently stopped working after I had to refill the water tank, or worked poorly, as the remaining 9sq.ft area was just slightly damp.

To top it all off, the unit is heavy, bulky and hard to maneuver.

This is a poorly designed, over-engineered, expensive machine that really should work better than it does.

I bought this originally from Costco...and after four shampoos, it stopped sucking up water. It did clean, but not perfect. Many of the stains that I tried to work on were still there after repeated cleaning and prepping beforehand. The attachments for sofa and carpeted stairs were a complete joke. They just left stains on my sofa, and didn't have enough suction power to clean anything on the stains. I found a good spray of Oxyclean and rags pulled up more dirt that this machine. Renting a rug doctor carpet cleaner still seams like a better way to go...bigger water tank and more powerful suction. I paid $200.00 plus tax and got four uses out of it. If the machine broke after let's say 24 uses, then maybe I wouldn't feel so ripped off. I know these machines aren't great to begin with, and not made to last (all parts are plastic), but throwing this into the landfills after barely any use is pretty terrible. Rug Doctor here I come!

This thing was working fine for a year then the main carpet sprayer stopped working. The hand tool does spray and suck, so at least I can still use it for small jobs and stairs. Overall I would not recommend this product to the numerous complaints about the spray malfunction.

The looks and quality of this fireplace are fantastic. The heat is OK. It make a slightly colder room more comfortable, but don't expect to use it as the only heat source.

Come in 2 boxes, 1 with the wood, and 1 for the firebox.

Assembly took me 45 mins with a cordless drill and a hex bit. I would imagine it would have taken well over an hour using the supplied allen wrench.

Instructions are very clear and the parts are well marked.

Remote works better than my TV. as long as you are pointing it towards the fireplace it works. Even from 15' away.

I got one of these last year because i wanted a strong heater in a small package, small footprint, to use in my bathroom, because the built in heater stopped working. It's perfect for heating a small room like that. Then i got another one for my bedroom, it's quiet, strong, and small, it fit into a small space near the bed. Then, i got a third one for the living room. The living room is a large room, and i use the heater like a small fire place, it really pumps out the heat. It's not going to heat the whole living room, but sitting next to it feels like sitting next to a small fire for warmth, very pleasant, not too hot when close to it, just a nice strong warmth. In the living room, the central heating doesn't do that well heating the lower part of the room on a cold night, the heat rises and it can be set on a high temperature and still be cold where we sit, so we use these heaters to warm up our space, nice source of heat, very portable, lightweight, sturdy. No complaints, it's perfect for what i use it for.

This is a handy little heater that serves its intended purpose well heating a small room. I use it to take the chill off my computer room which is not usually heated like the rest of the house since I'm not in there all that often. The unit itself is plastic with a metal grille, but it feels very sturdy and well made. The fan noise level is acceptable. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn't interfere. The controls are straight-forward. One dial is the power dial which has 4 settings: Off Fan Low High. The other dial is the thermostat with an infinite range of settings between and +. (I've found that just below the halfway point is very comfortable, but then again, the winters in California aren't exactly subarctic)

I'd recommend this for anyone with a small area to heat. a bedroom, computer room, sewing room, etc. (mine's in a room about 12 foot square). I doubt it would efficiently heat a room that was too much larger.

Follow up review Nov 2011: I just plugged this item in for what will be the 5th winter season. It works as great at it did when I bought it. Still a great item and highly recommended.

Update: 26 Feb 2009. I am keeping this Lasko heater in the living room. I have bought another heater for my 8' x 10' guest bedroom, the Optimus H-5210 Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater available here on Amazon. The Optimus is virtually silent, and takes a bit longer to heat a room that has a ceiling fan (from 60 degrees, it takes a couple hours to truly heat the room up to 70 degrees), and that's fine with me.

Update: 08 March 2009. I am very happy with my Optimus in the guest bedroom!

Lasko warms nicely but thermostat is such that heater stays on a long time (5 minutes or more) but doesn't come back on for a long time, maybe 30-60 minutes. It's the opposite of another heater I have which comes on frequently for a short time each cycle. So with the Lasko you get almost too warm by the time the thermostat shuts it off, but temperature in room has to drop quite a bit for the thermostat to turn it back on. I find myself manually turning it on and off via thermostat.

Cheap Samsung WF330ANW 3.7 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer

When my 5 year old Maytag top loader washer crapped out, I decided to replace my 18 year old dryer as well. I Purchased the matching set of Samsung 330 washer and dryer. If I knew then what I know now, I would have purchased these front loaders a few years ago.

I did a lot of research and found most of these front load washers use much less water, less electricity, and do a better job at cleaning clothes than most top loaders. My laundry is on the 2nd floor of my house so I was concerned about noise and vibration. And of course like everyone else I was looking for the best value for my dollar. Some reviews complain of vibration. Maybe they were not leveled correctly. Mine was delivered and installed professionally. The machine is super quiet and vibration free even to the touch. The only noise or vibration comes from the super fast spin cycle, and even that is much less than my previous top loader.

Here's what I have found so far:

Pros:

Cleans better than top loaders

Will handle much larger loads

Uses less detergent

Uses much less water

Uses less electricity

You can barely hear it run

Very little to no vibration, even to the touch.

The fast spin cycles removes more water from the clothes thereby making the dryers job that much easier.

Cons:

The cycles are about 20% longer than my previous top loader.

Be careful. Go to Google and search "Samsung washer won't spin". This washer has a problem spinning. My washer is installed in our basement on a concrete floor. It is level (has been checked by a technician as well as us). The load cannot balance and it won't spin. Once it tries to spin and can't, it throws the load back into a rinse cyle. This is why the load of wash on "Normal" takes almost 2 hours instead of 58 minutes!! Samsung finally admitted to us through the repair tech that the oil surrounding the drum gets thick at any temperature under 60 degrees. That leads to problems with spinning/balancing the load. If you are putting this washer in your basement or garage or any place it may drop below 60 degrees...think twice. We may try to return this to the store where purchased but I am afraid I will have to fight for it. A very expensive mistake.

I never really liked how this machine did wash. It was unpredictable in how long the cycle was, whether it would get the HE detergent completely out of your clothes, etc.

But this is what did it for me. An undocumented error code, that requires a service call, appeared on our machine 1 year and 10 days after we bought it (but less than 1 year after we received it since it was back ordered) and Samsung wants to charge me for a service call.

And the manager on the help desk can't do anything about it.

This is only what I can describe as horrible customer service.

This machine doesn't have the annoying buzzer that our last machine did. It chimes. At first the dial with all the buttons was intimidating and I thought I would have to read the manual from cover to cover just to run it. However, I soon found out after turning it on how really user friendly it was. It even alarmed letting me know that it's hot water hose was crimped. Sure enough the hose was crimped and after getting it straightened out it was good to go again. It is really easy to pause the cycle too. This machine uses very little water and is very quiet so if your like me you may think something is wrong with it and sit with a flashlight looking in watching in amazement. You can really cram a lot in it and it all come out clean, and unlike top loaders it uses less soap and won't mess your bras up around a central spindle.

Because fuel oils have become MORE dirty recently I use two filters in series. First one is the old felt filter element for the General 1A-25A and the 2nd one is this Micro-flow filter, also in a General 1A-25A housing.

The felt acts as a "roughing" filter and takes out the big junk. What "small" stuff gets thru is caught by the Micro-Flow. Seems like over-kill, but this prevents waking up at 5AM to a cold house because the burner nozzle has clogged and no oil can be burned to heat the house. Have done this for a few years now without any clogging shut downs. Oil here is so dirty that I now change filters twice a year as insurance. I am a retired Mechanical Engineer. At 79 years old I prefer to sleep thru the night in a comfortable home. I replace the burner fuel nozzle once a year to avoid the 5AM wake up. It's also nice to be able to leave the house for a few days in Winter & not be concerned about the possibility of frozen pipes everywhere!!
