We bought this unit 6 months ago to try and cool our 2nd floor (3 rooms). I set the unit to 70 degrees and it would constantly freeze up (meaning, ice would form after about 1 hour). I noticed that the unit drew more air in than it blew into the room. Giving the unit the benefit, I sealed everything in the room as tight as I could (insulating, foaming, etc) and closed off the other 2 rooms. It managed to cool that one room (12 x 16) but still would ice over on days of 100+ degrees (unit set for 70 degrees).

Heat pump: I turned it on in mid October. Today (December 10th), all of the lights on the front panel were blinking on and off and the unit would not turn off using the control panel power button. I unplugged it from the wall and left it sit for an hour. Plugging it back in (an hour later), the unit would run but all of the lights were flashing on and off with no control over the power.I am awaiting customer service to contact me to see how they will react to the 1 year warranty. I will try to post what has happened to keep consumers informed.

This rather expensive portable air conditioner is of very low quality, and it's also very poorly designed.

First of all, the air conditioner leaks water from the base. I purchased one, it leaked, I returned it, and the replacement leaked as well.

In order for a portable air conditioner to work properly, it needs to have a two hose design so that one hose takes in outside air to cool the compressor and the second hose expels the hot air from the unit to outside your house. This air conditioner only has one hose that vents the hot exhaust through a window to the outside of your house. This mean it takes in cool air from inside your house and blows it outside to cool the compressor. This creates a partial vacuum inside the house, which results in warm, humid air being drawn in from the outside to fill the partial vacuum. The intake of warm humid air almost completely offsets the amount of cooling this unit is able to provide. Using this unit alone in one small bedroom, the temperature would often be above 80 degrees F on hot July and August days. That's not acceptable performance for such an expensive air conditioner in such a small room.

For a portable air conditioner to work efficiently, it needs to have two hoses: one for intake and one for exhaust.

Lastly, the compressor and fan on this unit are very very loud. It's difficult to watch to TV or carry on a conversation while the unit is running.

I do not recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this unit two days ago when the temperature in a recreation room (fully insulated, measuring 35' x 17' or 595 square feet. Note: unit is rated for 550 square feet) over my garage reached temperatures of 98 to 100 degrees in this latest heat wave in New Jersey. The reason I purchased the "Soleus Heat Pump Air Conditioner" is because I wanted the duality of an air conditioner and heater.

The set up was not difficult, the window assembly kit that fits in the window had to be cut down, as required in the instructions to fit the window. That took about 5 minutes to measure and cut. Total set up time was about 35 minutes. Of that time twenty minutes were spent trying to understand the directions.

The instructions are not the best. There is a hose for draining water from the unit that is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. The unit has Control Panel and Digital Display that is easy to use and a Remote Controller. The unit also has a timer and louvers that will oscillate up and down to circulate the air. What is not mentioned in the general instructions but under the Remote instructions is that the timer and oscillator can only be accessed through the Remote. However, none of this is insurmountable. After a few minutes of flipping back and forth between pages it can be figured out.

The venting kit that comes with the unit should have supplied some gasket material to put between the exhaust panel and the window. Luckily I had some sponge rubber gasket to assure a good seal. Also, it is a tight fit between the window sill and exhaust hose that fits into the window kit.

After I had the unit up and running I insulated the flexible PVC exhaust hose as per the instructions. The hose becomes quite warm and the heat from it will radiate back into the room, so insulating it makes sense.

Today as I am writing this, July 22 2011 at 1 pm, it is 101 degrees outside in the shade and very humid. In the room over the garage "Soleus" unit is maintaining a constant 82 degrees with 54 percent humidity. I consider that good, the main part of my home has central air set at 72 degrees and it is struggling to maintain the temperature at 74 degrees.

I consider the "Soleus" unit to be working pretty good for a portable air conditioner with extremely high temperature outside. I expect better results when the temperature gets down to the low 90's where it is more normal for summer here.

Honest reviews on SoleusAir 13,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Dehumidifier

Seems to work adequately as an air conditioner. I thought I might not need to, or want to run our old dehumidifier. I purchased the LX-130D to use in the basement and expected that it would work even better at removing moisture than the old dehumidifier. The old stand alone dehumidifier runs for a fraction of the time to achieve the same level of de-humidification. The air conditioner and heater work well but are not super powerful.

I bought this unit and it lasted though the summer. When I went to turn it on the next summer it didn't work. Now the warranty is over. I took it into Sear's for repair to find out it had a hole in the condenser. Sears was unable to get the part from Soleus Air. I called Soleus Air direct and they informed me that I could ship them the unit as my cost and they would diagnos the problem at $45 and hour then tell me what it would cost to fix. I told them I already new it was the condenser. I just need to know how much it would cost to replace the condenser to see if it was worth it to send the unit. They refused to give me the information. I would have to do it their way or no way. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. 1st, it does not last. 2nd, really bad customer service. So now I have a large paperweight for sale!!!

I was a little worried about ordering this because I'd read a couple reviews that didn't think the fire looked real enough in their fireplace that was never used with a real fire. BUT, ours had been used a few times and had the black on the inside back.....so when the "fire" from this electric log set projects on ours with the black stuff...it looks GREAT! The heat is very adjustable or can be turned off completely, leaving on just the "flames". I actually think this looks better in person than in the pictures. And, most importantly, NO CLEAN UP! ;)

The Duraflame Electric fireplace insert is a perfect solution for those who enjoy the ambience and warmth of a fireplace or Franklin stove but wish to avoid the negatives of wood fires. First, I chose to purchase this product for only $129.99 through Kotula's, also represented on Amazon with free shipping. I researched the specifics of the product as advertised by both sellers and found that they are identical. I live on an Island and the product arrived within one week of placing my order. My husband took it out of the box, placed it in our antique Franklin stove, took less than 5 minutes to review basic directions and "tahdah!" the warm glow of a fire provided the perfect touch for a fireside chat with friends.

We have a Dimplex insert in our living room fireplace, which we have enjoyed for a year. I've been looking for a smaller unit for our Franklin stove and was thrilled to find the Duraflame. The Dimplex was more expensive and I did not expect the Duraflame to have the same level of quality but I am more than pleasantly surprised. The cord on the Duraflame is heavy duty with a serious plug. I haven't measured it but Kotula's noted that it is a 6 foot cord. The Dimplex has a metal back on which the flames reflect but the Duraflame is free standing and reflects on the back wall of the Franklin's fire box. The effect is excellent. The quality of the logs in both units is similar. The blower on the Duraflame does have a louder hum. This doesn't bother me. The temperature in the room was too warm after 20 minutes or so of having the blower on, so we turned off the heat and just enjoyed the fire. The remote on the Duraflame is more advanced with the settings on the remote. The Dimplex is just an off/on remote and you have to turn the heat off/on on the unit, which some might find inconvenient.

I have uploaded a video of the Duraflame in action but the crackling sound is a recording of a friend's bonfire. The only sound you'll hear from the Duraflame is a whir of the blower motor.

I would definitely recommend the Duraflame electric fireplace insert, despite the sound of the blower. Once you're involved with conversation, reading, a movie or a board game, you won't notice the sound.

I like this better than burning wood. It is not perfect, however. First, my fireplace is smallish, and this barely fits. Despite what other reviews say, it does not have a "crackle" sound. It does look fake, but after a few minutes you forget that it is. If you have the heat function on, it is very efficient at heating. It does, however, cause problems. It shorted out my living room power because I had it, the TV, a lamp, and my iron on at the same time. So, if you use the heat function, it must be when you are limiting other electric devices.

I got it for a much lower price than it is currently being offered at. I'm not sure I would pay more than $100 for it. Still, it saves on wood/wax logs so it might be worth it to some.

Honest reviews on Duraflame DFI020ARU Electric Fireplace Insert w/ Heater

Okay,

Call me a nerd. I really researched the various fireplace inserts available.

It was between the Duraflame 20" insert and the Dimplex 23" model 10 insert.

I chose the Duraflame because my fireplace is small and its a perfect fit.

I gotta tell ya, when you get back at a distance it does look real.

I tried the remote out and I can control the flame size and lower the

brightness of the logs which makes the fire appear like its slowly dying out.

I can even shut off the flame and leave the logs glowing.

Looks amazingly cool when I shut the glass doors to the fireplace.

The heat is awesome and the remote allows you to turn it off and on at will.

The logs make a slight crackling sound that is identical to a burning fire. Not

obnoxiously loud but in the background every now and then it crackles.

I had a Dimplex wood burner a couple of years ago and the flame burned out it one year.

I do think Dimplex makes a more real appearing fire with burning logs but its twice the

price and you can't control the heat from the remote.

The only concern I have with either the Dimplex or the Duraflame is how long the

unit will last.

I was so satisfied with this purchase! After reading the reviews, I almost changed my mind and was not going to purchase it. Boy, am I glad I did! This fit into my existing fireplace perfectly and the reflections on the firebrick was so real-like! I forget that it is electric and not a real fire. Much safer and cleaner to use. Very cozy! Fast service as well!

In Michigan, I use this heater during the fall and winter months to blast a bit of heat into a 6X7 bathroom in those wee hours when the temp in the house is btw 66 & 68 degrees. It warms the air rapidly and quickly mitigates the cold chill.

This lightweight heater is easily transported and has an easy hand grip on top. This will be my third winter with it. I use it daily up to 4 hours.

The noise of the unit can get to you if you have it on while reading or relaxing. I have forgotten about it and the unit, coming on at night, has awakened me.

I have also used it to warm a 14X12 space, but there are other units better suited to warm larger spaces that won't dry out the air. Like the Holmes HQH308 or the Delonghi EW750L.

I purchased this unit off season -so I got an extraordinary dealanother reason I like it so much.

I also have the Holmes HFH2986-U Whisper Quiet Power Heater. The thermostat has never worked on the unit -only the continuous HI / LO setting. I don't like this as well. This unit is cumbersome, fat and not easy to grip to pick up and transport to another space.

I would recommend the Holmes HFH442 if needed to quickly heat small areas quickly.

I was recommended to always purchase a holmes heater with a thermostate 10 years ago. Well, they finally quit on me. I couldn't find them like this one in any store. It's great to use if you don't feel like burning the fireplace. It's safe around my home especially with the ALCI.It knocks the chill out of the air almost immediately depending on what you set the thermostate on!These heaters are the best> I know because I have tried others. Always get one with a thermostate. It's like the central heat in the home. It cuts off automatically when reach that temp and comes back on! I love my heater!Holmes Heater Fan With ALCI

The unit would not work and required a new board to fix. When i called it in they would tell me it shipped when it had not. When i called they would then ship a board but not all the boards as they told me they would. I had to call again and again they told me it had shipped but again it had not . I called again and then it shipped. This process took around 3 weeks to get the unit working, It appears to be a good unit but I just got the boards installed yesterday so too early to tell overall

For such a small machine I can't believe how it heats my entire house. It heats everything in the room not just the room. This was Fabulous in helping me keep the cost of fuel down this year.

Warning!!! This new line of "Comfort Zone" products is bogus!! Bought one of these new models in Dec 2012 and it is now pronounced dead as of Jan 2013. I am really disappointed in the reduction in quality of the walnut cabinet and the very steep drop off in performance. The fan barely produced a flow of air out of the machine. I think it might be a stretch to say that this piece of work could even heat up a walk in closet. Heck it's only been 45 days maybe Comfort Zone will fix it if I ask them????? I am going to try to return it to comfort Zone. I will follow up should they do the right thing, but until then, "Buyer be ware!!".

Update, Amazon comes thru again 5 stars for the folks that take the calls. I phoned and spoke to Brad at Amazon gave him a somewhat lengthy tale of what had happened and that I knew I was beyond the 30 day return policy. Brad displayed both patience and understanding my angst. He responded without hesitation and said, I'll have another sent to you with Next Day service. I was somewhat stunned and didn't know what to say. He clearly explained the RMA processes what I needed to do etc. Then asked as the professional he is "is there anything else that I can do for you today?" I would be amiss if I did not offer mention to Brad's Supervisor Donald. my kudos to Brad and all the staff as the courteous professionals they are. Thanks guys.

If you're looking for a heater to run constantly in a room then this will do the trick as it provides good steady heat with a decent fan that runs quietly. I bought it with the intention of heating a workshop and it leaves me wanting more I turn it on high and let it run for several hours and it barely warms one corner of the 400 sq ft room. The heat is steady and the fan is okay, but it certainly doesn't blow out solid hot air that will warm a room quickly.

I have this radiant heater and 2 similar models. They are all noisy for about 15 seconds when they turn on. I suggest running it on low in small rooms so it does not cycle on and off. I buy this type of heater for 2 reasons. 1. I find that forced air heaters dry out the air, which irritates by allergies. 2. The biggest reason is that my cats LOVE laying in front of these heaters for hours. The heater gives off a glow which feels like you are sitting in the sun. I have been using them for years without any safety issues, just use common sense.

This unit does a good job heating up my small office (measuring about 10'x12') rather quickly, and its thermal control keeps the room in a comfortable temperature by turning the unit on and off automatically. The unit radiates heat over a pretty large area (with a small fan helping push the hot air out front). This means that it probably will do a good job keeping you warm in a larger space as well, as long as it's placed closeby.

My only complaint is the noise. The unit makes a rather loud rattling noise when its heating elements turn on, which lasts about 10-15 seconds. The fan is reasonably quiet in the low setting, but can be distracting when on high. I certainly wouldn't put one of these in the bedroom.

Best Deals for Holmes HQH307 Tower Quartz Heater

I really like the Holmes HQH307 quartz heater. I use it to warm up my master bathroom in the morning. I turn it on before I hop in the shower. By the time I get out of the shower, the bathroom is toasty warm and I can stand in front of the heater while drying off.

I went through several other heaters over a three year period before settling on this one. I've used two different ceramic heaters, one was a low cube and one was a tower. Neither one of those put out as much heat as I wanted yet they consumed a lot of electricity. Then I tried a parabolic heater. It was much more efficient, but the beam of heat was too narrow. It would heat a portion of my body too much and the rest not enough. It wouldn't heat the room at all.

I've had my HQH307 for about three months which is long enough to verify that it doesn't cost as much to use as the ceramic heaters did, yet it puts out a lot more heat. The internal fan is powerful, but it's also pretty loud. For my purpose in the bathroom, that's not a problem. The fan setup is well designed: It pulls air in from the top and pushes it out the front between the heating elements which heats up the whole bathroom rather easily. The heating elements rattle a bit during the first few seconds of warming up, but that is standard on quarts heaters. The rattle goes away almost immediately.

The lifting handle molded into the back of the case is in a good location and stays cool. Don't mistake the bar across the front for a handle because it gets HOT!! It's just there to keep the front of the heater off the floor in case of a tip-over. I like the manual controls on the top of the heater. One turns the heater to low or high and the other adjusts the variable temperature control. Simple and foolproof.

The Holmes HQH307 quartz heater is a great value and I recommend it without hesitation.

NOTE: I also own a Holmes HQH319U quartz heater which is about $20 more. It has the same housing and heating elements, but the fan is quieter and the controls are digital. You might consider it if you want a powerful and efficient heater that's not as loud.

Honest reviews on Holmes HQH307 Tower Quartz Heater

After having purchased (and returned) a handul of different heating units, I purchased this unit last year from Wal-Mart for around $50. My original intention was to locate an inexpensive space heater that would heat a medium sized room and, at the least, heat me but I continued to find units that didn't live up to their marketing slogans, including the oft praised mica boards. Having almost given up, I decided to limit my scope to something that would at least heat my general direction. This heater is perfect for just such a cause (whereas the other heaters couldn't even do that well; in fact, I spent all night waiting for the mica board to do SOMETHING and was sorely disappointed).

PROS:

Heats up FAST. Consistent. Definitely warms you. Pleasing glow. Auto shutoff for overheat or tipping. PERFECT for a single or two-person family.

CONS:

Limited heating area point and blast with this one, don't expect the entire room to feel heated. If the room is SMALLER, it can do that job, but a living room may feel lacking.

Loud You may not mind the sound of this unit but if you're working on something requiring acute attention, this may bug you. In fact, the unit isn't that loud and I personally find it to have a pleasing hum, but some reviewers claim it's as loud as a race track I'm sure they're being facetious.

I gave it three stars because it can't heat up a medium sized room. However, for its price, and for the consistently pleasing temperature it maintains, I would HIGHLY recommend this heater, ESPECIALLY for single and two-person households.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HQH307 Tower Quartz Heater

For the money this is a great heater. The heat is radiant and penetrating and provides more deep-down warmth to a room than does a ceramic heater. I like the glow, which reminds me of a woodburning stove.

The initial rattle is nothing to be concerned about and it does go away in seconds. However, I had a lesser, continuing rattle when the heater was sitting on a carpeted floor. I took a thin cutting board with an extremely hard plastic surface to set the heater on on top of the carpet. That cured it! I was careful to keep an eye on it and make sure that the cutting board was not getting warm, starting to melt, etc. The cutting board was not impacted at all. In fact, it stayed surprisingly cool despite the heat being put out, even on a high setting.

The manual controls do not bother me. There is no digital temperature reading, which does not matter to me either. I don't think the thermostats on economical heaters are that accurate anyway. The thermostat does facilitate cycling on and off throughout the night while I am sleeping, which is what I am really after.

If I do hear it running in the night, I briefly think "aah, heat" and go back to sleep. If I do notice the glow, I briefly think "aah, nightlight" and go back to sleep.

There are more elaborate heaters out there for more money, but for what I have spent I am getting good, penetrating heat, and thanks to my cutting board it is rattle-free in a carpeted room.

We did finally purchase these because our Fiestaware plates are so thick, they pull the heat from your food. These heat mats definitely do what they claim, but there are a couple of things that concerned us. First, they DO smell like a car tire when heated. You don't have to have a sensitive nose to get this. The smell of car tires isn't the worst thing, but I don't think it's very appetizing, either. The smell does transfer to the plate until the condensation evaporates, but we did notice that they sometimes leave a film on the plate that doesn't go away with the condensation. Not sure if this is something the silicone secretes, or some kind of other reaction to heat, but I don't want it on my food. We have been able to wipe it off with a dry paper towel and have continued to use the heat mats, despite this nuisance. That said, we certainly do like having warmer food on our plates. I just hope I don't start turning into Lou Ferrigno!

My wife & I love these. It is so simple. Just put on flat plate, stack multiple plates, and put in microwave on high for 30 seconds. The plates get really hot and the edges are plenty cool to touch. It has really saved our food from getting the heat zapped so quickly in the winter, especially for food that doesn't hold its heat very long like eggs and pancakes. But we use it for every hot dinner, even before placing pizza slices on a plate. It really couldn't work any better. They are simply constructed, so I would expect them to last a very long time. Just have a hot pad handy to set the warmer on after you take it off the plate. It doesn't hold its heat very long on its own, but for a few seconds it is pretty hot, mostly from heat from your plate which retains its heat.

I'm sure warming times vary by your microwave. On my 1100 watt microwave (1650 input, 1100 cooking output), it takes only 30 seconds on my thickest plates stacked by 2, and less on smaller thinner plates. I would be careful about over heating your plates if too rapid of expansion could possibly crack your plate. I have plates I really like and haven't been worried at all by these. I just don't push it. 30 seconds is really hot for my thick plates.

I used to run hot water and dry them, which took a while so I rarely did it. This is so much more effective and easy.

Honest reviews on Progressus ServIt Hot Plate Heaters, Pack of 4

Following directions, we used these several times. The third time, it cracked a plate that we'd long had and often heated in the oven. As one thinks about it, this isn't too surprising: The ServIt heats the center of the plate strongly while not heating the circumference at all; thermal stress is a certain result and a cracked plate is a likely outcome--as we found in practice. These warm the plates, but they leave behind a nasty plastic smell. I like a warm plate, but not enough to make my plate smell like burnt plastic. Also, who knows what chemicals are involved in that smell? Made in China (a country that doesn't have the best rep for product safety). And yes, I DID wash these off in warm soapy water before using (as the directions indicated).

First, we have had waterbeds since the'70's.

This is a well-made, rugged product with reinforced box corners, which I expect will be more cat-proof than its deceased predecessor. It fits the frame perfectly, with no wrinkles or odd bulging corners, and like most is delightfully comfortable.

There is one issue that prevents a Five Star rating, and it probably is not the fault of the manufacturer or vendor.

Plasticizer odor. We all know that any waterbed mattress (Or inflatable pool item, toy, or anything made with flexible vinyl products) has a distinct and not unpleasant odor. Even after a year, one can detect it in bedrooms with a water bed.

I am sorry, but the odor from this is very strong and persistant. The windows have been open for three days now, the bedding has been rewashed, and the odor is still cloyingly strong.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

EDIT ten days later to be fair: OK, everything has quieted down with the plasticizer odor. Added a star.

As a courtesy to people with sensitive noses, the rest stands:

End Edit

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

I am NOT a chemophobe. I MADE PCV calendered and plastisol products for a Fortune 500 at one time. I recognize this smell.

People with chemical (Phthalate) sensitivities should avoid this product.

Here is why:

"Phthalates can be divided into two groups: high and low molecular weight, with high molecular weight phthalates now representing over 80 percent of European market for plasticisers. Low molecular weight phthalates include those with 3-6 carbon atoms in their chemical backbone; the most common types being Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Di-butyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) and Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP). Because of possible health effects of low phthalates in the environment, including Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, there is movement to replace them with safer alternatives in Canada, the European Union, and the United States."

I am quite happy with my new mattress. It was the least expensive I could find on the internet and I see no problems. I have had quite a few free flow waterbed mattresses and this one is just fine. There really is not much to them. It is a big water bladder. This one seems pretty durable. The only weird thing here is that the one they sent is red not blue.

This mattress is really nice, it feels thicker than my previous ones and the fill cap being in the middle is a really nice touch. However it has an extremely strong plastic smell, which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I did expect the smell but I did not expect it to fill the entire house for over a month, even with opening the windows for a few hours every night.

Also, not that it is a con, the mattress is actually red not blue like in the picture.

I've been using the Eurodib 110v Induction Cooker for about six months and am happy with it. I have a Jenn-Air propane cooktop that is unstable at low temps, cooking delicate items such as eggs on it is difficult. So I purchased the Eurodib. The Eurodib give a very consistent heat output with my magnetic pans.

It has two modes, "Heat" & "Temp"

Temp has 10 settings in 30 deg. increments from 150 to 450 deg.

Heat has 10 settings from 1 to 10.

The unit defaults to "Heat" when it is switched on, then you can switch to "Temp". I usually use "Temp" because it is more intuitive to boiling water (at 212 degrees, for example).

The Eurodib boils water much faster than my 1100 watt microwave and I was fortunate that the teapot is magnetic. Not so lucky with the KitchenAid pots and pans that I thought would have been magnetic. Unfortunately they are the cheaper non-magnetic versions.

Recommend checking your intended cookware with a magnet if you want to use it with any induction cooktop. I had enough cast iron and magnetic SS cookware to get by, whew!

Rated 4 stars, I'd give it 5 stars if it had smaller increments than 30 degrees.

My wife calls this a "man's fan" because it comes with a remote control. The remote is a cool touch, but not what makes this product (or set of products) great. The fans are quiet, unintrusive and feature rich.

First, the fans are supprisingly quiet. They provide enough white noise for falling asleep, but no so much that they become distraction. (A set of Sony MDR-NC6 Noise Canceling Headphones wil block them right out if you're listening to music.) The oscillation is generally quiet. After a year of near constant use, I can only detect a slight rattle if I pay close attention.

Second, the fans have a very small, but stable, footprint. I hate the protruding legs on standing fans. The larger fan can stand just about anywhere in a room without a leg for someone to trip on. The smaller fan sits nicely on a shelf or desk. Mine sits next to my monitor at work. I also hate how top-heavy table fans can be. No worries with this set. I've yet to knock one over even after a few late-night collisions.

Third, there are a ton of features--or at least a dozen. The small fan has three speeds, oscillation and timer (1, 2 or 4 hours). The large fan has the same speeds and ocsicllation, plus you can set the timer in half-hour increments for up to 7.5 hours. The Sleep Wind feature let's you start the fan at one speed and it will periodically reduce its speed. Sounds nice, but I've never used it. The Natural Wind settings are supposed to simulate the changing wind velocities in the real world. I tried it for 15 minutes, felt like I was in a hyperactive version of The Three Pigs and have never used it since.

A great feature I didn't realize I would use so much is the ability to restrict or expand the sweep of the fan when it oscillates. When the oscillation is off, you can rotate the fan into one of five positions. In the middle position, the fan will oscillate with a broad sweep. If you rotate the fan to either side, it will restrict it's sweep to a smaller arc. I use this at night when I want the fan to oscillate, but also want to keep the air focused toward my bed.

Finally, the remote control. Why do you need a remote control for a fan? Why not! It's a remote! You sit on one side of the room and the fan responds to you on the other side. That's the kind of real power that makes you wish for a hot day. The remote isn't wimpy, either. It let's you control just about every feature on the large fan--the small fan doesn't have one--and there is hook on the side of the fan for storing the remote when not in use. My four-year-old son loves to play with it and it hasn't been lost yet. Something about the hook makes him want to hang it up.

There you go. Who knew I'd be so blown away by a fan.

We bought this set several years ago and they have been wonderful. You do need to clean out the dust to keep them whisper quiet and not to strain the parts, but you should do that for all fans. However, after my 3 year old decided to use at as a leaning post, she broke the main fan off of the base. It was also, obviously, out of warranty. It was a part that was easily replaceable, but it was not listed on the site. I called them on the 800 number and told them what had happened and they sent me the replacement part without any fuss or charge. They were fast and efficient and kept another fan out of the land fills.

Nice to see a company that actually takes care of their customers without having to jump through hoops to take care of the smallest thing!

My review is going to be much shorter than the one in front of me.

This fan combo works.

My wife and I have had it for a year and have not been disappointed by its output and ease of use. We bought one set, loved it so much that we turned around to buy a 2nd pair and couldn't find it anywhere. The were sold out at every place I checked. It took 2 weeks to find another one, and even then I had to time my visit to the local Costco to coincide with the arrival of the fans. They were selling out as soon as they hit the floor. If that doesn't say enough about their appeal I don't know what does.

The small fan is perfect for smaller spaces, like on a kitchen counter or on the desk in the office. We keep them running at low speeds during the day to keep our 3 cats from getting hot and they work great. When I come home I usually find 1 cat lying in front of the big fan in the living room.

If you're looking for a fan get this tower combo. It works great, takes up less space, has a great remote that is very helpful when you're on the couch and want to adjust it without getting up.

I bought this pair at costco about a year ago. The small fan died within 6 months, the bearings went out. The taller fan died today in a similar fashion. Up until their untimely deaths they performed quietly and powerfully. The only complaint I have is the short lifespan.

I love this fan it seems to give out 'cool' breeze. It is quiet (especially after cleaning) and at higher speeds it produces helpful 'white noise'. The tall fan suddenly stopped blowing air (but continued to rotate) after 2 years of use. Customer service was totally useless no help with cleaning tips or how to open it up (need a small screwdriver), despite it being out of warranty or return period. (minus 1 star for this)

I found extremely helpful information on how to open it and oil the bearings at . And now it works again.

PS: My model is from 2009. I didn't buy it from amazon.

I got this heater at Walmart about two years ago as an exchange for another heater that was recalled. I rarely used it until a few weeks ago. Seemed to work ok, not the best heat output but ok. But when I went to unlug the cord, the plug was so hot it burned my hand. Reported it to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, but haven't heard back from anyone.

We bought three of these three years ago in an emergency when our main heater blew. The following winter, we tried to reuse them, and two out of three were broken. The one that did make it to the second year died soon after. I remember when things used to last more than 90 days. Avoid this product.

Bought this heater at Walmart....got home, plugged it in. Heater started blowing then sparked and died. Wouldn't recommend this heater to anyone and will not get another one.

We have two of these heaters. We use one in bedroom and one in our home office to knock the chill out of the rooms. We have used these for nearly 2 years with no problems.

It works great and is not very noisy. I also like that it will shut off if it is accidentally knocked over. When we bought these at our local WM store we paid about $20 each.

Bought this Patton utility heater for emergency use in a small camper. When pluged in it will not properly cycle. The unit will come on, the dial temp is reached and the unit turns off. When heat is again needed the unit may come on for a mili second, a second, two seconds and then turn right back off. It is as if it tries to start and turns right back off as soon as the fan and heating element begin to operate. Don't waste your money on this. I will not buy another!

easy installation but make sure you do a leak check! Found mine was leaking from one of the plugs the factory installed. I removed, re-pipe doped, and re-installed. All good now.
