I heat primarily by wood, but needed something to heat my living room and kitchen towards those mornings when the fire in the stove was almost out, because I would oversleep. I was skeptical, but decided to buy this heater, due to the cost.(more than 1/2 less than those other heaters) I set the temp. for 70 degrees and went to bed, sure enough I overslept again, and this time there was no fire in the stove at all, but yet it felt good in the kitchen. the Lasko heater had come on sometime during the night and the living room and kitchen were comfortable with an outside temp. of 10 degrees above zero. The thing I noticed was that even my bare feet felt warm. I have used this heater now for 3 months and am very pleased with it. I have noticed no more than a 23 dollar increase in my bill per month, but even with the cost of wood, or especially fuel oil or propane prices, 23 dollars is not much. I also like that the cabinet stays cool on the outside, and this is important when my grandchildren come over. I will be using this heater more in the spring, instead of starting the wood stove, because it works and works well. by the way I live in a mobile home...14x76 feet. Also please understand, if the temp. goes below zero, this is not a miracle heater,(to heat the whole home) but it still helps, and it also depends on the size of the rooms and the insulation in the walls and floor. I leave the heater activated at all times so it will turn on and provide supplemental heat whenever it is needed.

This is the best heater on the market. It has 6 heat tubes while many others only have 1 or 2. This is my second Lasko Heat Exchanger. I gave my first one to a friend for her apartment. She absolutely loves it, as I do.

Good unit to warm up a seldom used area for the holidays. Since it is not vented I definitely recommend a dehumidifier be run at the same time, since propane contains a lot of water vapor when burning it tends to condense on any colder surface ( windows, doors, cold outside walls etc) The dehumidifier helps to cut the amt of condensation.

I have been using the Chef's Choice 677 Cordless Electric 1-3/4-Quart Teakettle for 4 years. Worked like a charm but had to replace it when it won't start anymore and has rusted so much from years of use.

The Chef's Choice 681 was a great choice for an upgrade. I have been using it for a week and a half and it works great. Heats water in just two minutes! The design is simply beautiful. It is slightly smaller than the older one I have by just 0.5 liters. I like that this kettle lights up when it's on. The blue light is highly visible unlike the Chef's Choice 677 Cordless Electric 1-3/4-Quart Teakettle where you barely notice the light. Because of the blue light, I haven't burned myself by accidentally touching the kettle. The sound of boiling water isn't as loud as the old one I have too.

It has no plastic interiors, all stainless steel coated. It does have a slight industrial smell inside, out from the box. The interior must be rinsed well before using.

The body of this kettle is prone to fingerprints easily. Easy cleaning with microfiber sponge or towel does the job.

This kettle is also lighter than the former one I had. I used this several times a day and it's wonderful! Great for the price compared to other more expensive electric kettles sold at Amazon.

I'm very pleased with this recent replacement kettle.

For decades (both in the UK and USA) I have always had a plastic kettle, as I don't especially like the look of stainless steel appliances. I was never bothered by taste or other effects from using a plastic kettle until my last one started to malfunction. More specifically it would overheat/not shut off and when this happened there was an extreme taste of plastic in the water, which really made me think about leaching from plastic, so I decided to switch to a stainless kettle and I am glad I did.

It's much harder to find nice electric kettles these days than it used to be. Most of the new ones are complete junk OR extremely expensive gadgets with unnecessary features.

This kettle is solidly made, straighforward and nicely designed. It's not too heavy when full and pours nicely; it's not terribly loud when it boils like many kettles are; the lid has a nice smooth opening mechanism; it's quick; the on/off switch is easy to use and had a nice indicator light. The only feature that could be better is the level indicator it's hard to see and I don't think mine works, so I just judge volume by looking inside.

It does require a thorough cleaning before use to get rid of any lingering manufacturing residues. I scrubbed the interior with a paste of baking soda and water, rinsed it out then boiled a pot of white vinegar. After that I boiled (and discarded) about 5 or 6 kettlesfull of water before using and there is no taste or odor in the pot.

I only gave it 4 stars because the volume indicator could be better and the steel surface does show some smudge marks, but otherwise I think it's a good choice. I did not buy mine through Amazon because I was able to get it cheaper elsewhere with a coupon.

After reading reviews of electric kettles, I nearly gave up on getting one, because all of them have a raft of negative reviews, even when lots of people like them. But this one has been great! I've used it for about three weeks. Works well, heats really fast. Lid opens easily and fully, so it's easy to fill. Spout makes pouring easy. I deliberately chose one that didn't make any alarm noise when water boiled, and I'm so glad I made that choice. I listen for the sound of water boiling, or kettle clicking off, or I watch for the blue light to go out. I plan to buy a second one for another location.

April 13, 2013 FOLLOW-UP REVIEW I have suffered with this extremely flimsy waterbed liner for the winter bacause I originally installed it last fall and did not want to have to drain and refill during cold weather. Now that warmer weather has arrived, I will be changing the liner within a week or two.

About all that I can add to the Original Review is that this liner continues to disappoint. It DOES NOT "Stand Up"!!! The liner material is so flimsy and the material used to try to stiffen the sides is so thin that each time I try to tuck sheets into the sides, the liner bunches down down toward the bottom and has to be pulled back up into place. This was not at all my experience with two previous waterbed liners that I used over a 20 year period prior to buying this piece of garbage. AVOID THIS WATERBED LINER. Spend a little more and buy something better. I am buying local this time so I can feel the thickness before going to the bother of draining my waterbed. The Amazon Marketplace vendor refunded my purchase price, so it's on me that circumstances (winter) has prevented me from replacing it so far. However, I also should not have to drain and refill my waterbed twice to change the liner due to a miserably low quality product. Shame on Amazon for continuing to list this product!

Sept 12, 2012 ORIGINAL REVIEW I would give this liner ZERO stars if that was allowed!!! This liner was purchased from Rick's Home Store on Amazon. It was advertised as 12 mil. Based on previous reviews, this seemed to be a very sturdy and thick liner, just what I was hoping to buy. The liner that arrived is approximately 5 mil thick.

Unfortunately, I did not realize its flimsiness upon arrival and placed myself in a bad situation by already committing myself to changing my waterbed liner before I fully handled this new liner. I then realized how the new liner felt very flimsy compared to the older one I was removing.

To confirm my "feel" of new versus old, I used my dial caliper to measure the thicknesses of each. To make a long story short, I measured my old liner (heavy duty feel) at 10 mil and this new liner (very thin feel) at 5 mil.

I then used calibrated feeler gauges to confirm the accuracy of my dial caliper. Finally, I referred to several articles and plastic sheeting manufacturer web sites to confirm that I understand "mil" plastic sheeting thickness measurements. "12 mil" is measured at 0.012 Inch thick.

I was sold a 5 mil thick waterbed liner a VERY, VERY cheap liner at a 12 mil liner price. As I mentioned earlier, I mistakenly committed myself to using this liner before I fully understood how truly thin it is, so I am stuck with a nearly $40 lesson (with shipping) in deception. I will be buying another liner of higher quality soon and will toss this one before it fails me. I am very DISAPPOINTTED.

Liner fit frame well and looks like to will be good. Extra bottle of water conditioner is good, but it calls for partially filling the bed, adding the conditioner, then draining the bed and refilling. A lot of effort.

I take this for lunch when I want to eat leftovers from supper. This would be perfect except for one thing. It has 1 covered container but 2 compartments. If u happen to turn the container upside down u have a mess to clean up. Also I pack lunch the night before. I have to cover the container with foil or wrap to store it in the frig. I think both sides should have covered containers. If u ever happen to make them for both sides please allow me to purchase separately!!!

I found out about this while researching another food warmer and I'm glad I invested. Only negative is: because it "steams" the food to heat it up, if you put something in there that you want to be 'crispy' once warmed, forget it. Your crusts of any kind will be soggy. But, your food will-be-hot, that's for certain (which is all I'm truly concerned about). Nevertheless, I'll have to look for something else, portable, to reheat my food if I want to make sure the crust on my pizza is re-crisped (for example). Would highly recommend it faaar better than the microwave if you're looking to move away from that.

As with all these warmer plates, you need to have a totally flat bottom on the coffee cup. This means you will probably need to buy a handmade one as I did. Got this heater from Truvalue Hardware Jan 2013 and there is something wrong with the heater. After it warms up in about 6 minutes, the flame is very uneven and huge. The flame goes up the back of the glass and covers the top of the burn chamber. By holding the wick release lever and backing off on the adjustment knob I can get the flame to reduce, however is uneven. In the front it will be 1/2 inch and in the back 3 inch. It is annoying.

I had a friend purchase this heater for me. I must say that it is the BEST little heater I have ever owned. The owners manual says to use 1k clear kerosene. I used the 1k clear and worked great, but I ran out of the clear I dry burned the wick and put in red kerosene. The flame is now more uniform and puts out WAY more heat than it did with the clear. I get the red kerosene from a gas station named SHELL OIL. If you get GOOD quality red the heater will exceed your expectations. Alot of people say that the wick adjusted doesn't give enough slack to back off flame to regulate the flame but my heater does. I dry burn the wick after every 4 tanks of fuel to keep wick soft and carbon free. There is only odor when first starting and shutting down the heater. But I have completely eliminated odors by buying a catalytic filter from Miles Stair Wick Shop, they are less than $10. The filter is suspended by 3 stainless steel wires that you suspend about 4 inches above the heater chimney. This convection heater is FAR better than ANY radiant heater on the market. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS HEATER !!!!.

The pros:

*I love the timer on top of the kettleI timed how long it took the kettle to heat to each ideal brewing temperature, and now I can just set the timer and leave the room. So convenient!

*It's attractive and goes well with the rest of my black appliances.

*The steeping basket is a good, fine mesh. Very little mess at the bottom with finer-cut leaf teas, and none at all with the larger leaf teas.

*Heats the water very quickly.

*The inside is stainless steel, so you don't get that weird plasticky smell/taste in your tea.

*Keeping the kettle clean, I have not had difficulty with staining or scale build-up.

*Takes the guesswork out of green and white tea brewing.

The cons:

*While I understand the cord is short for safety reasons, I do wish it was a bit longer. I also wish it was retractable.

*No whistle. It isn't really necessary with the timer, but somehow I'm just accustomed to my kettle whistling. Wouldn't affect my decision to buy it in the future.

*The timer only measures in whole minutes, when sometimes half-minute increments would be nice.

*The kettle won't maintain lower temperatures; you just have to unplug it when you get the temperature you want, and either steep a whole pot of the same kind of tea, or keep re-heating the water if you want to make different teas.

I'd been considering a few different, more expensive multi-temperature models of electric kettles/water dispensers, and I'm very glad I decided to go with this inexpensive (not cheap!) alternative.

I purchased this as a tea maker because the last one that I had finally died on me. It wasn't nearly as great as this, with all these features, however it did the job. This however has made my tea taste even better. I hadn't realized how much I was missing out on! LOL This is a great product and comes with options for oulong, herbal, and green tea's. A nice tea pot actually holds 40 oz, so you can't really call it a little tea pot. It does what it says it does, you put water in the pot and watch the temperature and when it gets to the right one, you put the tea in the infuser and put it in the pot. It is all pretty straight forward and a pretty good deal for the money. So the complaints I have read, it beeps when it gets to the last minute, well my stove does that too, because it doesn't time less than a minute, but will count down the last minute so you can stop it... important if you are brewing your tea for 2 and a half minute. The infuser is easy to put on. The thermometer is easy to read even with my bad eyes, same for the timer. So do I wish it had a longer cord, yes the cord on this is really short, do I wish it had an off button so when it got to the right temperature you can turn it off, yes, but I plugged into a surge protector and when it gets to the right temperature, I just flip the switch. Do I wish it was on a detachable base, you bet... but honestly for the price it does a great job and I am thinking of getting another, just so I have a back up. You want a system to brew tea and do everything for you well there is a $250 machine out there, for the rest of us, this works really well. And then we can spend money on the tea not the machine.

It's useful enough to do what I need it to do: boil water for tea. If I want a green/oolong, I can just look at the thermometer and unplug it when I want to. I invested in a $2 switch for it, so I don't have to keep unplugging it and creating a big spark each time.

I ordered this because the description said it was stainless steel inside. Only the bottom warmer is stainless, the entire housing is plastic. Plastic releases toxins on a molecular level when heated. It is damaging to your health to drink from hot plastic containers. Does anyone know of an electric tea pot, that only uses stainless steel or glass where water contact is an issue?

I've had this kettle for about 8 years and it works just fine. I use it on average 2 to 5 times a day. The whistle isn't quite as loud as it was in it's younger days, hence I've boiled it dry quite a few times, with no ill effects. The only drawbacks are the one quart capacity and dragging the cord around when I fill it. So, if you want an electric kettle for under $20, this is a good buy.

I bought this teakettle online after searching the stores for something similar. I drink tea several times a day, and my office is a ten minute walk from the cafeteria. This way, I drink tea whenever I want at a fraction of the cost. The water heats up very quickly, and the teakettle never seems too hot to hold. Everyone who sees it wants one of her own.

I actually own two of these kettles for several years now. One at home, and one to make a quick tea/coffee at work. They make a quick job of boiling water, have a very loud whistle and just excellent overal. One thing to notice though it will only hold three to four cups of water. Perfect for a small family, but not enough if you have more than 2 tea drinkers at home. I have not seen rust on either pot I own, so it's possible that the other reviewer had a bad unit.

I got one of these for my 80-something mother a few years ago. She desperately wanted an electric kettle that reminded her of an old stovetop version yet was simple and safe, since her eyesight was failing. The Ptresto fit the bill and she loved it.

Unfortunately, the cleaning lady at mom's facility melted the cord somehow, so we got mom another. She likes it as much as before. We were impressed enough that we ditched our own more vertical model and got ourselves one of these.

Very handy for tea water, a cup of instant hot cider or cocoa on a cold evening, or some boullion. Or to just have some hot, hot water handy on the counter for recipe purposes.

We recently re-did our screened in porch with new conversation furniture, rug & curtains. We needed an outdoor heater and our friends had one for their outdoor kitchen so I started researching products. I really like the fact that the small tank fits inside the casing of the heater. Our friends have the big tank that has to sit next to it on the ground. We put this unit on the coffee table and it heats the 14'x14' porch nicely. The tank is hidden so it looks really good. We are only outside for 3 hours at most so the tank lasts long without having to change it. We bought a six pack of extra tanks and have them ready if needed. I really would recommend this to anyone with a covered area that wants to have a comfortable outdoor setting!!!

This works as a table top heater..... it'll keep you luke warm.

If you have any wind what so ever, it turns into a metal center piece and you'll be cold.

The heater does take those long Coleman 1.2lb tanks for little tailgate BBQ's, so that good.

But other than huddling close to it, you won't get that much out of it. I suggest you spend an extra $50 and get a full size.

I did my homework by measuring the light and checking the model number. The end result is it works. Fits perfectly, looks great compared to the old one and the price was reasonable especially when compared to the price other vendors wanted.
