Discount Pro Com PCSD25T Free Standing Vent Free Stove with T-Stat Comfort
Good unit to warm up a seldom used area for the holidays. Since it is not vented I definitely recommend a dehumidifier be run at the same time, since propane contains a lot of water vapor when burning it tends to condense on any colder surface ( windows, doors, cold outside walls etc) The dehumidifier helps to cut the amt of condensation.

I could be jinxing myself by writing this review, but this is the first space heater I've owned that hasn't flaked out on me after a few months I've had this one for about two years and I use it virtually every weekday at work since my office is like a meat locker. It's small, puts out a good amount of heat and it's fairly quiet though just loud enough that I think of it as doubling as a white noise machine, which for my work setting is very useful. It has a thermostat and two heat settings (though frankly I can't feel the difference between them so I just keep it on "1"). Probably not good for use around children/pets; aside from the obvious dangers, this unit is also very small and lightweight and could be easily tipped over.
Update 10/18/13: 1 year later and it's still functional after almost daily use! Upgraded from 4 stars to 5. :D

As another reveiwer noted, this is not a safety heater. If you have small children or pets, you will want larger sized heater that is designed to not get too hot to the touch. This is very powerful heater, and due to its small compact size the heat is concentrated all in one small area, which understandably gets very hot. I like this heater a lot, and I previously purchased 3 of them. The controls are straighforward and functional, the size is small, and it looks sharp. Unfortunately one of the 3 stopped working after 1.5 years, thus my 4 star rating instead of 5.Best Deals for Holmes HCH4062B-UM Small Ceramic Heater with Manual Control
Excellent space heater! Used in 1-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles for cool desert nights in fall/spring and cool days and nights in winter. Never even lit the pilot light for the wall-mounted heater in the apartment. Moved to NJ and use the heater in my office at work. Bought a second one for the 2-bedroom apartment. Great for bedrooms and even medium-sized living rooms.Honest reviews on Holmes HCH4062B-UM Small Ceramic Heater with Manual Control
This heater is perfect for my office, which is always ridiculously cold. It's fairly quiet and does a nice job keeping me warm all day. My only complaint is that it smelled sort of funny for awhile when I first got it, but that's mostly gone away now, and I think that's common among space heaters.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Holmes HCH4062B-UM Small Ceramic Heater with Manual Control
I was without furnace heat for a week and my neighbors loaned me two Holmes Dual Ceramic heaters to use and they were wonderful. When I searched for these, I found that they were no longer made and that the company was now selling these. They are cheap looking and not at all what I expected after having used their previously sold dual heaters. I have run it for several hours and the intense smell of chemicals is still present. I've had many a headache from this heater even though I have opened the windows and run the air purifier. I'm throwing it away. It is without a doubt, the most useless thing I have ever bought on Amazon.Saturday, October 25, 2014

With the onset of cooler weather just around the corner it is time to think about how you can reduce the cost of heating your home this winter. Let me say at the outset that the Eden Pure GEN3 Model 1000 Portable Heater is not for everyone. If you live in a big house with large open rooms and cathedral ceilings then read no further. You'll have to look elsewhere to solve your problem. But if you reside in a smaller home and have the ability to close doors then the Eden Pure heater just might be your ticket to significantly lower heating costs.
My wife and I purchased our first Eden Pure heater about two years ago. Given the escalating price of fuel oil we felt we needed to find an alternative way to keep our home comfortable during the chilly New England winter. I spotted a full page ad in our local newspaper for the Eden Pure heater and decided to give it a try. All Eden Pure heaters come with a 60 day total satisfaction guarantee. 60 days is more than enough time to determine whether or not this product is going to work for you. We decided to purchase the smaller Model 500 unit and began using it to heat our living room in the evening. We kept our thermostat at 58. While the smaller model was OK it did not make the room as toasty warm as we had hoped. After about two months the infrared bulb failed forcing us to return the unit to the manufacturer for replacement. The replacement unit arrived just days later with a letter of apology. To compensate for our inconvenience the folks at Eden Pure upgraded us to the Model 1000 product at no additional charge. As it turned out this was a terrific break for us as the Model 1000 was exactly what we needed. To make a long story short we have since purchased another Model 1000 for our bedroom and bought another for our pastor to use in his bedroom at the rectory. We count ourselves very happy customers of this product. We continue to be very frugal about they way we heat our home and use our heating system as little as possible. I would estimate that it costs us no more than 15 cents an hour to use the Eden Pure heater. Furthermore, over the past two winters I would estimate that we have saved in the neighborhood of $200-$300 per year on heating oil. In essence, these Eden Pure heaters have practically paid for themselves.
One final note. Unlike other electric heaters we have used the Eden Pure GEN3 Model 1000 Portable Heater will not dry out the air. This is a one of major reasons we are so happy with this product. Also, this unit does not get hot so it is perfectly safe to use around little kids and pets. Finally, the unit is mounted on wheels making it pretty easy to move from room to room. I have to admit I am flabbergasted by the number of negative reviews this item has received. I suspect that most people who wound up dissatisfied tried using them in very large rooms. But if you are actively seeking ways to cut the cost of heating your home consider Eden Pure. Check them out online. You just might discover a way to keep you and your family comfortable this winter at a price you can afford. Highly recommended!
But even great men have flaws. Paul Harvey had been quoted as saying, "I am fiercely loyal to those willing to put their money where my mouth is." And therein, lies a conflict of interest.

You undoubtedly have never heard of SCI but if you were a regular or even semi-regular listener of Paul Harvey you would have heard him endorse the miraculous EdenPURE heater with its revolutionary "cured copper" heat exchanger.

This list is a smorgasbord of overpriced, yet intensely crappy products. (Oh sure, they sell the Tempur-Pedic line of closed cell foam mattresses which are merely overpriced...you can pick up the exact same thing at Walmart for a fraction of their cost.) This company is a virtual feeding frenzy for multi-level marketing scammers.
But I am only going to focus on their most prominent scam product: The EdenPURE heater.
The EdenPURE heater is the most expensive 115-volt electric space heater money can buy, bar none, and it is marketed with, at best, half-truths and, at worst, blatant lies.
Compounding the problem is literally hundreds (if not thousands) of independent distributors, many of them not authorized resellers.
So lets get into the meat of the issue. Just what does SCI, through its Biotech Research subsidiary, claim that the EdenPURE can do? Here are some select pickings from their FAQ page:
Q. What is the EdenPURE Heater Quartz Infrared Heating System?
A. Our Heating System is a revolutionary zone furnace that safely and efficiently heats entire areas that need additional heat.
Translation: It's a portable electric space heater.
Q. How do the EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heaters Work?
A. With the advent of micro-electronic technology and the latest in infrared commercial quartz tubes, three solar copper furnaces inside the unit absorb the heat from these tubes much like a sponge absorbs water. The patent pending process of cured natural copper creates an innovative heat exchanger capable of absorbing heat like a solar sponge. It then safely exhales what is coined as "soft" environmentally friendly heat that is able to travel rapidly in relative humidity. The EdenPURE SOFT heat does not burn up the humidity; moreover, it employs the humidity as a vehicle to warm up large spaces quickly and efficiently.
EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.
Other heaters cause occupants to lose energy and force them to breathe dry uncomfortable air. The EdenPURE heater replicates the earth's sun process by electronically exhaling comfortable cost cutting heat without burning up your family's life sustaining oxygen in your indoor living space. The benefits of this natural solar process are revolutionizing the way we will heat our homes and help save large amounts of costly energy.

Now back to the FAQ's...
Q. What makes the EdenPURE Heater "Healthier" than other heaters?
A. For one... the EdenPURE heater does not produce positive ions like other blower (dryer) type heaters.
EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.
Since the early 1950s scientists have suspected that ions play an important role in how the body functions and, consequently, in how we feel. Research has shown that an abundance of negative ions in the air we breathe is highly beneficial.
Conversely, scientists have found that if the air is charged with too few negative ions and too many positives, we become anxious, fatigued and tense. Positive ion poisoning has, in fact, been linked to heart attacks, aggravated asthma, migraine headaches, insomnia, rheumatism, arthritis, hay fever, and most allergies.
Translation: Wow. This is industrial strength BS at its finest. To me, this is holistic, pseudo-science mumbo jumbo that is ridiculous and claiming that other heaters produce positive ions is utter rubbish thrown out there for the slow-witted.
Q. How does the comfort of the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System is a state of the art system that provides the most comfortable form of heat. Unlike traditional systems, which may leave a differential of up to 18 degrees from floor to ceiling, the EdenPURE Heater System heated air, using infrared absorption, does not concentrate near the ceiling. Heat stays down and evenly dispersed in the area where you and your family live.
Temperature difference from floor to ceiling is minimal. In addition, the EdenPURE Heater System does not remove humidity from the air. It actually helps maintain humidity levels. The even heating and higher humidity permit lower heat settings with more comfort, less condensation on windows and less static electricity. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System does not use flame, fuel or any form of combustion. Therefore, the heat from the EdenPURE Heater is safe and clean free of any other type of pollution and does not use up the oxygen in the air.
Translation: Okay, well this is more crap served up with a very large spoon...maybe even with a funnel and a hose.
The EdenPURE is, despite claims to the contrary, a forced air electric space heater. There is nothing magical about what it does. Room temperature air comes in one end and higher temperature air comes out the other end. That's it.
Warm air rises due to a property in air called "convection." To minimize the natural process of convection the air in a room may be circulated. Ceiling fans do this quite nicely.
There is no heater made that removes humidity from air. It is a physical impossibility. Period. To remove humidity from air one must lower the air temperature below its dew point. This is called condensation. Think of the "sweat" that occurs on a glass of ice water. If water condenses on the inside of your windows it is because there is a source of excess humidity in the house...someone left the shower running...and the glass is below the dew point. The EdenPURE heater is totally incapable of maintaining ANY level of humidity. Winter air is dry. Go to NOAA and look it up.
Any properly installed heating system will not use up the oxygen of the occupied space. Again, nothing magical here.
Q. Economically, how does the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System is the most economical way to heat. In Midwestern Utility field tests for heating seasons, the EdenPURE Heater used an average of 35% less energy than conventional electric furnace/baseboard systems. Comparable results were found during comparisons with fuel based heating systems. Individual results, of course, depend on insulation values, local climate, and other conditions.
Translation: This is a pure lie. The most economical way to heat using electricity is with a heat pump. So, yeah, individual results depend on "other conditions." These (along with that old favorite, "individual results may vary") are what are called "weasel words."
Q. How much area does a EdenPURE Heater System Heat?
A. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 1000 Heater is a 1483 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 400 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 1000 square feet of well insulated space. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 500 Heater 900 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 200 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 300 square feet of well insulated space.
Translation: More nonsense. Heat loss for any given room in a house depends on a host of variables: Outside wall area, floor area, ceiling area, window area, door area and local climate conditions to name but a few. Matching a heating appliance without taking heat loss into account is incompetent.
Q. Why does the EdenPURE Heater System cost more than a space heater?
It is a furnace in every respect. A space heater only has the capacity to heat a small space (i.e. under a desk). The EdenPURE Heater System, like a central heating system, will heat an entire area evenly and efficiently. This allows the unit to be a supplemental source of heat. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System is safe. It will not start a fire or burn if you touch it. Because of the reduced energy consumption, and the unit's high level of safety and comfort, EdenPURE Heater System users agree that it is the best value available.
Translation: The EdenPURE is a space heater in every respect. It isn't a furnace. A furnace is designed to heat an entire home. The EdenPURE is not. Properly installed and maintained furnaces are safe, too. Duh. Too many EdenPURE owners are way too embarrassed by what they paid for it to say anything other than what a great value it is.
Q. Why is the EdenPURE Heater System safe?
A. The EdenPURE Heater System has no flame or fumes. Its safe, clean infrared heating elements provide the energy. Extensive testing at CUL (Canada) and UL (United States) has verified the safety of the EdenPURE Heater System. Due to its safe operating temperature, the EdenPURE Heater may be placed next to flammable materials with minimal safety clearance needed.
Translation: All appliances sold in the USA, including space heaters and furnaces, are listed with Underwriters Laboratories. Big Deal.
Q. What kind of Satisfaction Guarantee does it have?
A. We have a 60 day Satisfaction Guarantee. Our Return Policy: You can return or exchange any purchase within 60 days for any reason. NOTE: Items must be returned in the same box & packaging received by you with everything that was included in the original shipment.
Translation: Wow. Sixty days. So, when you discover that it doesn't save you a dime you are totally screwed. Nice policy.
The hundreds of other scam artists that peddle this device go even further with the "cured copper" BS by creating their own little urban legend about its "discovery." Here is the story that they peddle:
"'This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man named John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat. Jones had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes through an extensive heating process to give it special properties. ''After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet of copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room. ''Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones had a number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or radiation. He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story short, through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a heating source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most important consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final development of this infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating system in the world."
Translation: Pure and utter BS from start to finish. There is no such thing as "cured copper." It has no "special properties" other than to separate you from several hundred bucks. Take a little stroll over to copper.o r g and try your hardest to find a reference to it. It does not exist except in the minds of simpletons.
The final nail in this smelly little coffin comes from Consumer Reports:
"The unit was the second-lowest-scoring space heater we tested, earning only a 24 on our 100-point scale. According to the folks in our Tech department who tested space heaters, the EdenPure provided lackluster temperature control and was not particularly easy to use, What's more, it was pricey and lacked an overheat-protection feature (key for safety). The GEN3 models do have this important safety feature, according to BioTech Research."
Bottom Line:
If you insist on spending up to $400 for an electric space heater that's your business. But you can get the exact same result for around $30 at your local hardware store. 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts of heat regardless of how it's packaged and how much it costs.
And don't ever buy anything that multi-level (or network) marketers are selling, especially their "system."
So if you live in a part of the country where the utility rates aren't as high as they are here, it could possibly be worthwhile. It was an expensive lesson for us...my dad spent $700 on the 2 units, and felt so badly about my light bill that he paid for the difference, and they are both sitting in my formal living room, unplugged. I supposed I may try to sell them on ebay, or ship them to him and he can give them away.
Beware, that's all I can say.
I wound up installing a Mr. Heater 16,500 BTU ventless propane wall heater. It heats the entire area in about 3 minutes. Since the copper pipe from our large propane tank to the gas grill on the deck runs right by this corner of the basement, it was simple to tap in to it (but I paid a licensed installer to do it).
Bottom line on the Edenpure: It's a decent but extremely overpriced 1500 watt heater. Unless you find one cheap at a yard sale or flea market just go to Lowes or Home Depot. I rate it 1 star because it's a rip off at the normal selling price.
As for the 5 star reviews, try this for fun: Click "" on each of the 5 star reviews. In almost every case you'll see NO other reviews. Now click "" next to each of the 1 or 2 star reviews. In most cases, you'll see several other reviews. Judge for yourself as to the validity of the 5 star reviews.

My dad bought 2 of the Gen 1000 units for my family, as we live in New Hampshire, and at the time heating oil prices (and gasoline) were very high. We thought this would help save money, as the previous year it cost us $600 to $700 a month to heat my 2800 square foot home, at an average heat of 69 during the day and 65 at night. I will say that the heaters do a great job, are vitually silent, can be easily wheeled around, and do heat from top to bottom. They don't create absolute comfortable heat all over a room, especially if, like me, you have older windows, or a den that is over a garage. That being said, my average electricity bill is $180 a month, mostly because I have 6 children, do tons of laundry, vacuum several times a week, bake and cook a lot, etc. Our bill went up to $350.00 when we used both units, and it took both units to heat my downstairs...we still had to turn the heat on in our upstairs. I don't believe that we were saving the difference, or $170 a month in heating oil. I tracked it for 2 months, and I think we only saved about a hundred dollars a month in heating oil. So it wasn't worth it for us. Plus, we couldn't return them for a refund because we went past the 60 day cutoff.
Honest reviews on EdenPURE 1000 Infrared Heater GEN3
No 110 volt electric heater is allowed to pull more than 1500 watts. Electric heat is essentially 100% efficient (remember electric waste IS heat). 1500 watts produces approximately 5,000 BTU/hr. A $19.95 "milkhouse" style heater from a big box store or, better yet, your local hardware store produces exactly the amount of heat using the exact amount of electricity an EdenPure unit produces (actually because of it's unique quartz heater/copper tube design, the EdenPure is slightly less efficient). The "rides the humidity" claptrap is spurious nonsense. In other words, if you buy an EdenPure, you are paying $349 (minus $19.95) for clever, misleading marketing and a spiffy looking box. What you are NOT paying for is better, cheaper heat.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for EdenPURE 1000 Infrared Heater GEN3
I have a computer/electronics hobby area and ham radio station (my "shack") in a corner of our large unfinished basement. Although there are heating ducts in the basement (forced hot air), this area of the basement sometimes needs some help to stay comfortable on very cold winter days without having to crank up the heat so it would be uncomfortably warm (and use $$$) in the rest of the house. I decided to pick up an electric space heater to use when needed. I bought a Lasko 1500 Watt ceramic tower heater (5000 BTU) for about $80 at Lowes. I used it for about a week. While it did eventually warm the area somewhat, I had to run it for 30 to 45 minutes before I noticed any real difference in comfort at any distance from the heater. Yes, it worked but not as well as I had hoped, so I returned it. On the way home I passed a yard sale and stopped to see if they had anything interesting for sale. What I found was an Edenpure G3-1000 heater for sale for $75. It appeared to be in good condition and even had a remote control. We settled on $60 and I took it home. Guess what, it works...about exactly the same as the Lasko. Still takes 30 to 45 minutes for any noticeable comfort increase any distance from the heater. However, I do have to admit it looks a lot spiffier than the Lasko and the remote control is neat. All in all a nice $60 heater. Certainly not worth a penny more than $100.I wound up installing a Mr.

RCA 6000 BTU Electronic Windor Air Conditioner with Remote Control Reviews
Assembling the unit on top of a bean bag proved most simple. If you are using a powered screwdriver, be sure to set the torque to it's lowest setting. I let the unit sit upright and flat for close to an hour before I powered it on.
The Foam Tape is most sticky, be sure to have it exactly where you want it in the window trough.
My windows were custom cut, so I was just barely able to fit this unit in, and only needed about half of the screws I was supplied with. Used 2 screws to mount the windows spacers, 1 screw right in the center of the unit to the window, and 1 more screw right above the opening window frame to keep it closed on the unit.
The plastic air directional fins were not seated in their pivots, so I used a pair of pliers and pulled them gently into the holders, making them work nice and smooth.
Foam spacer fills the window gap in nicely, not even noticeable. For the remaining gaps I used AlumiTape.
I can run the unit on high setting for a couple of hours and notice about a 5 degree F. drop in temp right around the unit, but the tin nature of my home continues to raise the ambient temp. I tried turning my furnace fan on only while running the A/C and noticed the entire house starts to cool down more rapidly. Figured out the Furnace had a second circuit and placed a 12 volt toggle switch next to the Honeywell and use it as an A/C boost now. This old home in Alaska can go 95 degree Fahrenheit, but this 6000 BTU unit can bring it back to 80 given a couple hours of running.
The timer on/off feature is real handy in saving power and preparing the room for my arrival. Works in increments of 1 hour delay on or off.
The first month of operation and didn't even notice a twitch in my power bill. Overall while it's running the compressor, it's not as loud as I thought it could end up being. Does tend to vibrate the plastic parts abit while it's cooling.
Won't be long and I'll be removing the unit to store under a bed, think I'll place a 2x4 under the bottom window rail and the unit should sit flat for me. Just want to protect the fins on the back as long as possible.

Bought this unit new and opened straight out of the box; the unit did not work. All it did was blow hot air; the compressor never engaged no matter what I did. I sent this thing back right away. Dont waste your money.Best Deals for RCA 6000 BTU Electronic Windor Air Conditioner with Remote Control
We were really excited when this unit showed up and we installed it in the window right away. We don't know if it's a defective unit or what, but all it does is blow warm air. A good window fan would work better. I called RCA tech support and they are in India. They asked if I'm trying to cool or warm the room! I had just told them it's 90 degrees in the bedroom. Yeah, I'm really trying to warm the room. Then all they told me was that it was maybe a defective unit. Ya think? So I chatted with Amazon customer support and they would have sent me a replacement unit, but it was going to be out of stock until September. Fat lot of good that does me. So I'm returning this unit and ordering a different brand's 6,000 BTU unit that I hope actually works. In the meantime all this unit has done for me is make me suffer in the heat a week longer than necessary. Thanks RCA. Thank you so very much for creating such a "wonderful" product. :(Monday, August 18, 2014
Reviews of Drolet High-Efficiency Wood Stove - 95,000 BTU, Model# HT2000
We have used this stove in a 2200 sq ft central MN home for about 2/3 of a heating season and are happy with it.
I too rec'd the T-stat and fan options. Although they don't move a lot of air away from the stove they do help significantly and will do so quietly at up to 2/3 output on the rheostat speed control.
It's a very modern design with secondary combustion, a tight seal, easy ash disposal and a nice door window that stays clean fairly well once the new paint and metal oils have baked off (2 weeks or so of medium fires).
We got it for $1000 (+tax) locally and moved it ourselves. It is about 500 lbs so get a good 2 wheeler with straps or 2 husky men to move it. You can easily pay about $2000 for a similar quality stove. It looks real nice too although its not in the catagory of a "decorator appliance". It can put out a lot of heat and hold a lot of fuel. It is capable of keeping our home warm for 8 hours in -F temps and have enough coals left to refuel without relighting (using a good seasoned hardwood like oak, maple, elm. etc.). Soft woods would be OK for less demanding needs (less hours of less output). Getting up midevening or relighting on chilly mornings gets to be a pain after a few years.
Its a XLG stove and I wouldn't put it into a situation where it heats less than 1500 sq ft. It would overheat it or smolder too much at the min. setting.
I wish the design had a T-stat bimetal inlet damper feature. It does not and is not available. I would consider that to be a very nice improvement. This is a quality stove that needs a outside combustion air fire box port. Optional fan with thermostat recommended. Using in 2000+ sf cabin and it has great aesthetics with excellent burn time.

I was a little concerned about buying a dozen filters at over $100 without trying one first. I've been very pleasantly surprised. They are every bit as good as, if not better than, the Filtrete "Micro Allergen" filters that I normally use (which cost about 50% more.) These filters are structural sound, in fact, I think they are more sturdy than the Filtrete filters. That is the characteristic that I was most nervous about as I've previously had discount filters (from other manufactures) buckle and collapse inside my ducts. The filtering media itself also appears to be high quality. I've had them installed for several weeks now and everything appears to be working well. I will definitely buy Nordic Pure filters again.

Great Northern Popcorn Black Paducah 8 Ounce Bar Style Antique Reviews
I didn't want to purchase a popcorn popper with a cart since I didn't have room for the cart. I was unable to find reviews for this particular popper until I reviewed the Paducah Popper machine sold with the cart--see: http://www.amazon.com/Paducah-Eight-Antique-Popcorn-Machine/product-reviews/B000UDXQO4/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 --and boy am I glad I responded to the praises of this machine.
This machine is GREAT! It truly does its job incredibly well. A few years ago we'd purchased a smaller home popper that had something like a 2 oz kettle & found that we had to pop several batches to get the desired amount--and by the time we actually got to eat it, over 1/2 of the bowl had cold popcorn.
The Paducah Popper pops crisp, tasty popcorn quickly. We've found that we don't need to use butter to add flavor because the popcorn tastes great just popped in regular canola oil.
My husband loves this Christmas present & it makes a great addition to his man cave. Other poppers I considered had tacky decor that just didn't fit our taste. I HIGHLY recommend this popper!
The owner's manual states, "Add a suitable amount of butter or oil (Fig.1). While the amount is dependent upon your taste, please do not exceed 1/2 oz." (Based on the fact that they give you a measuring scoop rather than a scale, they apparently mean 1/8 of a cup (1 fl. oz.)and not 1 oz., which is 1/16 of a pound.)
The instructions on the door of the device states, "1 TBSP of oil for every 1/2 cup of popcorn". (For 1 cup of popcorn, this means 2 Tbs of oil, which is ONE fl. oz.)
Obviously you can't use 1 fl. oz. (as per the instruction on the door) without violating the first instruction's "do not exceed 1/2 oz."
So I emailed the manufacturer to find out which was right. The manufacturer (specifically, Randi, the Customer Service Manager) told me to use 1/3 the amount of oil as popcorn. That is, for one cup (8 fl. oz.) of popcorn, use 1/3 cup (~2.5 fl. oz.) of oil.
So now I have a choice. For one cup of popcorn, I can use either 1 fl. oz. or 2.5 fl. oz. of oil, but not more than 1 Tbs (1/2 fl. oz.).
They get 5 stars for the product but only 2 for the instructions and -3 for their ability to clear up the confusion.

First, let me say that this machine performs magnificently!! We bought this for Christmas last year (2011). Its been used quite a bit and works like a champ. There is a big difference in the popcorn you use the pre-made packets that have everything in one pouch simply do not taste as good as using coconut oil and flavocal. Do yourself a favor and learn how to make your popcorn that way and you will be much happier in the end.Honest reviews on Great Northern Popcorn Black Paducah 8 Ounce Bar Style Antique

I bought this for my husband for christmas because he loves popcorn and we were working on setting up a tv/movie room in our new house. Best gift I ever bought! It looks great in the movie room and we use it all the time. I got the black one becuase the other colors seems too bright and didn't go with my decor at all. I like this better than the traditional red and yellow ones that you see every where. Also, other ones that I looked at were cheap looking. This one is really nice. Makes the great addition to any home. Especially for popcorm lovers or movie lovers! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a real vintage popcorm maker. Well worth the money!!

Bought this fireplace for a newly remodeled area of our living room in October. We heat with an oil furnace and wanted to supplement to save money this Winter. We have not had a cold Winter in New England so far, but it has been cold enough to determine that I rarely hear the furnace turn on. I keep it on low and it heats up our living room area very quickly(about 650 sf) and a lot of heat goes upstairs too. Running our ceiling fans helps to circulate the warm air. We have run this unit everyday in the morning when I get up and all evening when I get home from work. My gas bill has increased 10 dollars a month. I can only imagine how much oil we have saved using this fireplace. The cabinet looks like a well made piece of furniture and it adds a lot to my home. My two cats take turns sleeping on top of it. There is a little smell to it when it is operating, but not any worse than when my gas oven is on in the kitchen. Very cozy watching the flames and feeling the warmth.
I would have given it 5 stars but I have to say that the controls are not that easy to operate as you have to get down on the floor and use two hands to turn it on and off. A remote would have been nice. Another thing is that it should come with the heater fan already installed not as an add on for another 100 dollars. Heat rises and there really isn't any way to disperse the heat efficiently without using a fan. Also, I had to have my plumber run the gas line, which cost another 200 dollars, but he was nice enough to put the whole thing together for me and helped figure out how to run it. We both had to read through the instructions several times to figure it out.
All in all, I would recommend this product. We have really enjoyed the ambiance it creates and the savings it has already provided.
The thermostat just has a few settings and is crude. It may take awhile to get a comfortable setting.
Pro's out weigh the Con's
We used the corner conversion, which is just a triangle of wood, two support bars, and a wall mounted bracket. It was easy to do and looks natural. I was concerned about how much weight it could handle, but it seems to be able to support ample amount.
The thermostat is a little touchy. At first we thought it controlled the flame size, and to some degree it does. Setting one is low flame, setting two is medium flame, and setting 3 is high flame. Setting 4-6 is the same as three. But what we realized is that it is actually controlling the thermostat. The flame will shut off once it reaches a certain temperature. However, this was one thing we changed. The thermostat is located at the bottom back of the fireplace, which does not make it very accurate. I would suggest moving it higher, if your fireplace never seems to turn off or over heats the room.
As with any vent-free fireplace, it makes water. You will get condensation on any cold surfaces (like windows). The benefit to this is the house is somewhat humidified. The bad news is you will have to wipe down your windows & window sills. We actually really enjoy the moisture in the air.
This unit does not come with a blower. We have found it doesn't need one. We leave our ceiling fan (blowing up instead of down) on low. This is all it needs to evenly heat the room. Without the fan, the room heated fine. It just took a little longer for it to warm it all up.
This product does hook up to natural gas, so you will need to purchase any of the pipe that would connect your natural gas to the fireplace. And have the skill to connect the new pipe to an existing line. Also, as with any natural gas fires, it will have a bluish hue to the flame at the bottom and an orange hue to the flame at the top. We think that is still far prettier then no flame at all!

The only problem with this product is the control knob for setting the heat. It's crude and has numbers on it. I have been trying for a month to get it where it is comfortable.Best Deals for ProCom Compact Vent-Free Dual Fuel Fireplace with Corner Conversion
This small fireplace produces a lot of heat. Some states have rules for ventless fireplaces and you may have have trouble getting it installed. The thermostat just has a few settings and is crude. It may take awhile to get a comfortable setting.

We purchased this product for our Florida room. It has turned a room that was unusable in the winter into a favorite winter retreat! It looks beautiful! The wood is real, not laminate. The fire is relaxing. We all clamor to be the one to get to sit closest to it!Pro's out weigh the Con's

It's just okay...because...I received it damaged, & contacted Amazon, I was told if I kept it, I would be refunded 50%. I have not received the refund, I have sent contact info about this several times with no response to me. I am not a happy customer of Amazon about this and I would appreciate hearing from someone soon. I am keeping the machine, it's dented on the front & looks ugly, but it's too much hassle to pack something that large up & mail back, plus the time & expense. Someone needs to help me!!!!
We started with the Great Northern popcorn packs, and it make "good" popcorn. We experimented with some of our own blends of oil and seasonings, and we made "great" popcorn. The kettle gets messy and requires cleaning every couple of batches. The kettle lid seems to be an older design, where the lid is not attached to the kettle and slides up to the top where a magnet holds it in place. I would have preferred the lids that are attached to the kettle with a hinge. I have had to use some "kettle cleaner" for burned spots, but it does the job quickly. The rest of the popper has cleaned up well with warm water (sometimes with vinegar added).
Overall I would recommend this popper, but understand that it is not 5 star perfect.

I looked at a number of poppers before I chose a different one. However, Amazon wasn't able to get that one shipped, so working with their customer service, I settled on this one. My 8 & 10 year old children helped me put it together. The instructions were disappointing, and not all the pieces lined up properly, but the finished product was secure and looked good.We started with the Great Northern popcorn packs, and it make "good" popcorn. Cheap Watts Dormont 20C-S0314-60B Coated Gas Connector Kit, 60-Inch Length
I bought a new dryer on Saturday, and picked up this kit on Sunday to do the installation. If you are installing a new appliance, you should buy this new connector kit every time, particularly since the newer kits meet new standards.
The installation went well, and this kit took a newcomer like me a half hour or so, but I needed to make sure I had a few extra things to do it properly. I needed two 7/8" wrenches to tighten the fittings. In my case, I used one 7/8" wrench, along with an adjustable wrench, so you can twist opposite ways on the piping. Two adjustable wrenches would work fine as well. I also needed gas pipe thread compound, or gas pipe tape; do not use the same Teflon tape you use for water systems, as this can flake off and plug your gas orifice. You can also buy gas leak test solution, but you don't absolutely need this; I used soapy water instead. Some kits include pipe compound and leak test solution, but this one did not, so I reduce my review by one star for that.
The instructions were excellent, and well worth following. It is possible to assemble this using fewer than two of the provided fittings, but the instructions indicated that exactly two should be used. They also showed that the fittings are threaded both inside and outside on one end, something that might not be obvious to people ignoring the instructions. The instructions provide several scenarios for different gas plumbing configurations, and this kit should work for almost anyone who is replacing an existing gas dryer. This hose does the job connecting my gas dryer to the socket. Good length and hasn't failed me. Hope it never fails.

I picked up two of these last winter for my kids rooms. We live in very northern Minnesota, where sub-zero winter temperatures are very common. When it gets that cold outside, keeping rooms in the house that are on the outer edges warm can be tricky, without overheating the center of the house. So for years we've used oil heaters, which require little to no babysitting. We have two very large electric fireplaces in our home already, and my kids have always wanted little ones for their rooms for cold days. They especially wanted them for when they get home from school and would like to warm their bedrooms up quickly. They've only just now gotten old enough (pre-teens) where I feel confident they could easily manage one of these small heaters themselves without me worrying.
So last Christmas they each got one for their bedrooms as a gift. They are very small, so they don't take up much room. No more than a tiny nightstand would. The blower in the heater is at the bottom, so the top and the front stays completely cool. So there's no worrying that anyone might burn themselves on it. The door on the fireplace does open up, which gives you access to buttons that control the temperature and brightness of the fires light. There is also a small remote control that comes with it so you can adjust the settings or turn it on/off remotely. These heaters did a wonderful job of warming up chilly bedrooms all last winter.
* * * A special note * * *
Two things I wanted to mention, so if anyone else runs into the same things they know about them ahead of time. The first, one of the two heaters I ordered arrived without the light inside working. At first I was stumped as to what to do, then I realized it was just a replaceable light bulb inside, and all I had to do was open up the back (or underside, I can't remember which) and check it. Turns out in shipping the bulb had just came a little loose. A little twist and it was tightened and working perfectly again.
The second thing I wanted to mention is when you first get these and turn the heater on, there is a smell that seems to need to burn off the first time you use it. I'm not sure if it's a cleaner or what, but the smell will actually set off any nearby smoke detectors, even though there's no smoke. So it's best to run them for a little while first, before you need them at a later time, so you can open a window or something to get the smell out. However once the smell has burned off, it never comes back.

My daughter just moved from South Florida to the panhandle, where the nights are quite chilly. I bought this for her as an early Christmas gift. She loves it. The seller is reliable, and the heater was delivered to her door within four days. No assembly is required, and it is ready to use right out of the box. It arrived with no damage, and was well packaged. The unit is quiet and heats her small home very well. She also loves watching just the flames without using the heater...it adds a lovely warm glow to any room. While this seller has the heater priced a little higher than other vendors, the shipping is free, so it's an excellent buy. I will be her visiting at Christmas, and look forward to seeing this beautiful little electric stove in person. I may have to buy one for myself! Buy this, you won't be sorry.Best Deals for Duraflame Freestanding Electric Stove with Remote Control DFS-550-7
We bought this stove to replace another brand that died after two years and cost twice as much. We love it. We use it in our bedroom which is always very cold. The room is a medium size and it does the job perfectly. I'm sure it could heat a larger room. The other stove we had didn't have a remote so I didn't think it was important but now that I have one I love the convenience. The stove arrived in a timely manner, in good condition and the seller communicated with me regarding the arrival date. Bottom line the stove does an excellent job heating a room and looks good while doing it. I surely recommend it to anyone who needs a little extra heat and doesn't want a clunky little space heater.Honest reviews on Duraflame Freestanding Electric Stove with Remote Control DFS-550-7
Admittedly, the flame effect is not the most realistic thing in the world. In fact, it's a little cheesy. For best effect, turn it all the way down to the lowest brightness. I might even swap out the bulb for a lower wattage. However, the ambiance is still really nice, even though it is clearly not a real fire, and I like the option of having the flame effect on while the heat is off. This unit is in the bedroom. It heats the area nicely and fairly quietly, and with my glasses off in bed, watching the fake fire is very soothing. A click of the remote to turn it off as I am ready to fall asleepreally a nice feature. Ready to use, straight out of the box. The first time it's on, it does give off a bit of a "hot pan with oil" smell, but that fades quickly. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and recommend the unit.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Duraflame Freestanding Electric Stove with Remote Control DFS-550-7
I bought this fireplace for my mom for Christmas. It is a perfect size in their 2-bedroom apartment. It seems, though, that her Chihuahuas are getting more use out of it than she is. LOL. They BEG for her to turn on the heat! They lie on a pillow next to the fireplace until they are thoroughly roasted and near comatose! Mom loves it too, when it's cold outside. It keeps the main living area very warm. Now that it's warmer outside, she is having to wean the dogs off of their beloved heat. I would definitely buy this again, and especially for a person with spoiled pets. For the price, it is not too cheap looking. The "flame" is fairly realistic for the price as well.Saturday, December 14, 2013
Cheap Amba Q-2033 Quadro 33 Inch Electric Towel Warmer With Quick. Even
I bought this about three years ago. Called with a question and got the answer from the first person who picked up. They still sell accessories and parts. Still answer questions etc.
The product itself is also very nice, reliable and well thought out. We have it installed with a timer so it is not going all day and all night. It is very reliable. Also, it is unique in that it can be mounted in either direction horizontally or vertically. Amba says you can mount it at any angle, though I do not know why you would want to do that.
I would have given it 5 starts only, it does have gaps and cannot heat the whole towel evenly like the glass ones can.
