Cheap Ace Hardware- Pro Com Ml100hpa Two Plaque Lp Gas Wall Heater
I think I would have been happy, if they had said this does not work over 4500 feet, but they didn't.... I purchased it, then found out that you need a "dual regulator", "100 pound propane bottle", etc. then after all that expense and it still wouldn't work, they asked my husband, "What is your altitude?" and found out that if you are over 4500 feet it doesn't work at all!!!! So now I am having to send it back, but they are paying for the shipping, but it took almost two weeks to get it in the first place, so how long before I get my money back?????

Qmark / Marley LFH1502P Portable Electric Hydronic Heater - 120 Review
This a great heater. It blends unobtrusively into the room. Just set it to the desired temprature and watch it take over! It has 5 different heat settings which automatically go up or down depending on the temprature setting. It quietly warms up the entire room without the heat blast "in your face" that other heaters have. Great for the early winter time when you need some heat and avoid turning the full house heat on. I have 3 bedroom floor (about 1000 sq feet) and this heater was enough when the outside temp was in the low 40's and I did not need to turn the house heat on.

This portable hydronic heater works very well on a plug in 120vac receptacle and is very economical versus the regular convection heaters which keep you either too hot or too cold. It keeps my smaller room at a constant and comfortable temperature as per my setting. The reason for the 4 rating is the digital readout and controls are too low. I have to get on my hands and knees to set them, which isn't all too often, however It would be nice if Marley would either incorporate a remote control or position the readout and controls at a more convenient level. I also wish Marley would make this heater in a smaller version, like approx. 36-48 inches as I do have a need for a less lengthy one. Some other manufactures have smaller ones but they all require 240VAC and are not portable since they must be attached to a wall and do require an additional wall mounted thermostat. No thanks, too expensive and too complicated and involved for me!Best Deals for Qmark / Marley LFH1502P Portable Electric Hydronic Heater - 120
It keeps shutting off instead of reaching the set temperature for the room . Will not heat long enough to reach the desired temperature .Saturday, August 9, 2014
Buy DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I purchased the PAC600T (one step below this unit) from Amazon one year ago. When it arrived, I filled the tank with water, inserted it in the unit and my floor was covered with water less than a minute later. Turns out the unit's plastic base housing was cracked during shipment. Amazon replaced the unit, with the same results for the second unit. At that same time, there must have been lots of returns because Amazon stopped selling the unit. I stepped up to this unit with its slightly higher BTUs and hefty price.
The unit arrived fine, no leaks after filling with water, and I used it most of last summer (in a 14' x 20' room with average height ceiling). The unit puts out cool, definitely not cold, air. The only way to really use the unit is to get it started when the temperature isn't too high, then keep it running. I don't think it would be able to cool a warm room. It simply isn't overly powerful. That may have to do with the fact that it operates at 110 volt, rather than 220 like many AC units that are built into apartment walls.
The unit has been sitting behind my couch all winter. When I went to use it this year, the removable plastic water tank was cracked. It was emptied at the end of the season and not exposed to excessive temperatures, so I don't know what that's about.
I assumed that with the high BTU (and price tag), this would be the unit to use. But I'm going to try one of the less expensive units this year and check out its performance.

I bought 2 units last year. At first it worked fine. Then, this season, when I started to use the air conditioners, one of the unit leaked at the base, ruining my wood floor. I thought I could just use it without water, and I found it to be very insufficient to cool off the room. I have used different models of pinguino and I found that the newer models are more problematic. If it isn't leaking, then it is the alarm light that kept coming on, shutting down the unit. I followed the maintenance procedure to clean the unit, but it doesn't seem to help. I am fed up with pinquino. I think I may have to switch back to those window units.Best Deals for DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
This product,DeLonghi 700T,was about the worst purchase that I have ever made. The unit ran for 10 mins and then shut off. After several attempts,we finally found the service center that replaced the fan motor--after a 4 month wait for the part. But that did not fix the problem--the unit shuts down after a short run.Because all of this has taken so long,Delonghi says that the warranty is now limited and that I have to take the unit to a service center 50 miles away.It has been close to 2 years and I still do not have a functioning air conditioner.Honest reviews on DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I purchased a Pinguino PAC 700T 3 years ago. Rated at 12,000 BTUs, it cools about as well as a 6000 BTU in-window unit. However, at the beginning of this summer season, I find that it no longer cools or dehumidifies air. I found DeLonghi's central service number (800-322-3848 in case you need it) and asked for my nearest service/repair center. They informed me that they no longer have any repair centers in Massachusetts. They suggested that I take the unit to Hartford, CT, about 2 hours from Boston where I live. Having paid $1300 for this unit just 3 years ago, I expected better service than this. It appears that DeLonghi maybe doesn't care too much about supporting their products after the sale. This will be my last DeLonghi product of any kind.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi PAC700T Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner
I bought the 700 Pinquino A/C unit because of its excellent energy efficiency and quiet operation. I liked the looks too, so many others look so ugly that I would not have them in my livingroom. I have had the unit for two years now, and so far no problems at all. It works great, and is very quiet, and cools my 700sqft room well, although it takes a while when above 90F. The water reservoir lasts about a day before needing refilling. My only complaint is a minor one: The plastic finish is of good quality, but it scratches easily when moving the unit around and you bump into something. If it had some color matching bumper strips or something around its middle section, that might help. I am happy with this unit.Monday, July 21, 2014

This unit was a replacement for a previous different model heater which lasted many years. It is easy to use, the lid is solid, and the pump is quiet. The adjustable temperatures are convenient. The only thing that could be improved is to be able to shut off the beeps that occur after the water is ready to be used following a refill. It is Ok during the day, but not necessary at night. It is possible to delay the heating with a timer, which then also of course delays the beeps to the next morning.I bought this model a year ago. Love the convenience of getting hot water any time. However, half a year later, there seemed to be some corrosion spots on the bottom. Now, the spots are more prominent and are rusty. The thought of drinking water with rust in it does not seem safe to me.

After reading Mirielle Guiliano's memoir about food, entitled "French Women Don't Get Fat" and feeling annoyance over the loss of Total Greek Yogurt on the shelves of my local Whole Food (this is temporary), I decided to buy this yogurt maker and simply make my own.
The procedure is a simple one; heat some milk until bubbles appear on the side of the pan and steam actually rises; take off the stove and pop in the included thermometer. When the milk temperature lowers to a specific window indicated on the thermometer, add some milk to 2 tablespoons of purchased plain yogurt or yogurt starter. Mix and then add to the milk in the pan.
As the yogurt maker has slots for 8 containters with lids, simply pour an equal amount of the milk from the pan, put on the lids, cover the yogurt maker and plug the machine in.
The machine sits on a counter; I advise parking it in a place where the digital controls are not interferred with as just one little push will turn the whole thing off. I set my yogurt to "cook" for 14 hours. The result: Great consistancy and flavor that matches store bought without the preservatives and other additives.
The machine includes includes instructions on how to make flavored yogurt; it seems simple, but I have not tried it.
Bottom line: this machine does the trick with little or no fuss. I also purchased the yogurt cheese maker which will allow me to turn my homemade yogurt into a spread that I can use on bread in the AM. Doesn't get any better!
When I read the book "French Girls Don't Get Fat", I thought I'd give homemade yogurt a try and save a little money (sort of like buying an espresso machine, rather than buying a $3 latte at Starbucks every day!)
Yesterday I made my first batch with the Donvier Yogurt Maker. First of all, it's SO simple. Three ingredients: Milk, milk powder, and starter (I used 2T of my regular brand). Four simple steps:
1. Stir the milk powder into the milk (I used non-fat milk, and the non-fat milk powder makes the yogurt creamier)
2. Heat the milk until it almost boils
3. Cool the milk till it reaches 110--simple to gauge, using the thermometer included with the machine--then add the starter
4. Pour into the cups, and let the machine do its work!
I mixed the batch up in the morning, and by the evening I could move the cups to the fridge to chill. This morning I was treated to fresh yogurt; the creamiest, freshest tasting yogurt I've ever had, and it was non-fat with NO additives!
I highly recommend this machine. If you like yogurt, you'll love what you can make at home with the Donvier!
Also, the recipe calls for 1 quart of milk, and that only half fills the little cups.
I'm going to try making yogurt in my toaster oven, which has a 100F setting, and see how that works. I'm disappointed that this little machine doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to do heat the 8 cups and produce yogurt after 10 hours.
Edited August 2008: I have been successfully making yogurt in my regular oven, by mixing 1 1/2 quart milk and a 1/2 cup Activia yogurt as the original starter culture, then filling small Rubbermaid snack cups and putting on the lids. I use only the oven light and leave the cups overnight (6-8 hours). Excellent yogurt, easy to make, and without any more appliances cluttering up my kitchen. I keep my starter going by using the last cup of my homemade yogurt mixed into milk for the next batch.
I would like to add I am not an organic go-getter. We've recently been making some changes based on a general concern for how often we are exposed to chemicals, etc. in our and our children's lives. The yogurt maker has given us one more way to feel secure in and expand our choices. Enjoy!

I must admit, I was skeptical. Over the years, I've eaten so much yogurt; in the last two years, I've switched to plain yogurt as most others have so much sugar. It's hard to find plain yogurt that tastes great--both the taste and the texture have to be just so. The best-tasting option I've found is a brand sold at Whole Foods; it's expensive, and it seems that the full-fat version is the only kind with the right texture. When I read the book "French Girls Don't Get Fat", I thought I'd give homemade yogurt a try and save a little money (sort of like buying an espresso machine, rather than buying a $3 latte at Starbucks every day!)

I recently purchased the DONVIER after reading the French diet book. Like another reviewer...I too use whole organic milk. I do not heat the milk on the stove in a pan...too messy. What I do instead is to put all of the milk into a large Pyrex measuring cup, pop it in the microwave for 6 minutes and it is ready to go. I did not buy the starter, instead, I use a couple of teaspoons from the last jar that I am going to use, whisk it all in the Pyrex, double check the temp. and pour it into the cups.Honest reviews on Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker
This yogurt maker gives poor results. I used whole milk and added milk powder, as the booklet suggests. It heated it to nearly boiling, cooled it to the suggested temp with the thermometer supplied, added in the powdered yogurt culture that came with the machine, and cooked it in the little cups for 12 hours. All very easy to do. In the end, I had four cups of decent yogurt from the middle pots, and four cups of liquid from the outer ones. It appears that the machine's main problem is too low a temperature, and even lower temps on the outer parts of the machine. Also, the recipe calls for 1 quart of milk, and that only half fills the little cups.

I cannot say enough good things about this item, even though I purchased it somewhat tentatively and my husband thought it would be the next big white elephant. I decided on this product as it seemed to offer a few extras for slightly more cost (thermometer, timer, etc.). I have been making yogurt every week since however and it could not be easier, fresher or better tasting. I have followed the directions included with the maker and have not had any problems (organic skim milk, organic milk powder and yogurt as starter. Heat milk in microwave 8 minutes, "cook" in maker for 10 1/2 hours). The yogurt is firm, I think comparable to American store versions. My four year old eats it on his cereal instead of milk and asks for it for snacks, eating right out of the container. I also purchased the additional set of yogurt cups so I could make a new batch while still eating the rest.I would like to add I am not an organic go-getter. We've recently been making some changes based on a general concern for how often we are exposed to chemicals, etc. in our and our children's lives. Received this today, in 2 cartons. Put it together in about 1 hour. The top of the fireplace is heavy, and I thought I would not be able to do it by myself (I'm a 64-year old woman), but I decided to turn it upside down and put it together. Worked perfectly. Then simply turned it right side up and it's beautiful. Will use as corner display and put my TV on it tomorrow. I think it is well worth the price and is a beautiful piece.
I would highly recommend!!!

BEFORE PURCHASING CORINTH ELECTRIC FIREPLACE MEDIA CONSOLE-I contacted the seller by email twice b/f placing order to get all my concerns taken care of about product features, function and shipping. Seller was very prompt in replying back and made me feel at ease in order from them (first time). Over the years, I have noticed that when shipping is offered free sometime the item is not well taken care of in transit. Not in this case, the box did show some minor abuse, but items were well packed and no harm was find to products at all. Instructions was simple, if you sit down and study it first, and all necessary hardware was included. Unless you are a super strong patient person, it will require two people to put the top on. After that you insert the electric heater in, screw it in place and you're done. My husband and I love vintage cherry fireplace. Our purpose was not the heater per se, but the fireplace itself as a beautiful piece of ornate designed furniture in our bedroom. So cozy & romantic to watch the quiet colorful flames at nite w/o heat.I would highly recommend!!!

Soleus Air HGW-308R Flat Panel Micathermic Radiator Heater Reviews

This heater seems to have been cranked out to take advantage of the popularity of the new Micathermic technology. This new heating technology heats up the panel very quickly, but takes as long as the oil heaters to heat the room. This is to be expected. With out a fan, the speed of heating is determined by the size of the heating surface. Which in this case is around 30" X 30". This technology is completely silent, compared to the bubbling noise of the oil radiators.
Ok, the mistakes Soleus made. The digital thermostat is somewhat for show. In my 10' X 10' room the heater is set for 77 but the room never reaches 70 degrees. The heater turns off making you think it has reached it's goal. Same room, I put in another Soleus heater. I initially left this heater at the default 68 degrees that is displayed when the unit first comes on. Now the room stays above 78 degrees. After much experimentation and repositioning of heaters, I've discovered a trend. Each heater has a fixed error in their temp sensor. For instance the previous mentioned heater is exactly ten degrees off. You set it for 68, it tries to keep the room at 78. This error is different for each heater. In addition these heaters have roughly a five degree response range. In other words it may keep heating for an addtional five degrees past the target setting and after turning off may not start again until it's more than five degrees below the target setting.
Soleus did a great job at making a silent technology noisy. The single Micathermic panel heats up very quickly, so it expands quickly. Initially you'll hear these little creaking pops as the housing mount points are trying to hang on to the panel as it expands. Then you'll hear a gong as the panel bows out under pressure. These sounds aren't loud, but in a quiet room in the middle of the night, it wakes me up. Smaller multiple panels might reduce this noise problem.
As far as the smell, hang in there. It takes awhile, but it eventually goes away.
I gave this heater three stars because the problems I pointed out are pretty much the norm for most portable heaters I've used. Micathermic technology is great, someone just needs to put it in a quality device.

second replacement OK for a few months. Tried it as the weather got colder this month. Worked once, now won't heat up.
Customer service says the warranty starts (and ends) based on the original purchase date, so I'm out of luck.

This unit heats my room up much faster than the 1500w Deloughi oil unit that I tried. It is much quieter than the Sunbeam quartz unit that I tried. There is a slight hum when it is heating, but not at all objectionable. There is definitely some radiant effect that you can feel several feet away so it can be used as an instant-heat, personal heater. I find the thermostat to be fairly accurate. The room has been running 1 or 2 degrees hotter than the setting. Room is 180 sq. ft.
I am concerned about EMF radiation, so I tested it with a gauss meter. It gets into the "safe" range at about 32" (2 gauss). The reading is negligible at about 52" (.01 gauss). If you don't know what I am talking about, you should do some research if you want to avoid cancer. Most heaters are a little less, but I find this acceptable in the room I am using.
I like the remote because I do healing work in this room and I can adjust the temp without getting up from massage table. Back to reliability: I can't say for this unit, but I have used a Soleus dehumidifier for two summers and it is an outstanding machine. I give this unit a 4 because of others reliability experiences and the slightly higher EMF. As far as performance is concerned, I am thrilled. I needed a machine that was efficient and quiet and this fills the bill. Oil and quartz fell short of the mark. I had planned to get a mechanical thermostat model but they were out. I spent $10 more for the digital and like the way it works and the remote, I think the mechanical would have been more reliable in the long run however. When a digital unit dies it is usually the electronics that fail. (I am a former repairman)
Addendum: Still works fine in spring of 2013. I love this heater--heats room fast and quiet.

We are currently living in a small house with no central heat or air while we save for a new house. Because of this, we have had an opportunity to try several types of portable heaters. This heater is by far my favorite. Last year it kept my bedroom very warm. The heat radiates out more slowly than many of the heaters we have tried and it really warms up the room instead of just racing to the ceiling. I never thought about that before, but we are very happy with the results. We are just starting our second year with this heater and have ordered three more just like it. I have read several reviews on heaters and it is weird how some people will love a heater while others hate the same heater. All I can say is that we are using it as a primary source of heat in about 150 square feet where temperatures frequently get in the teens and it seems to do the job well.Best Deals for Soleus Air HGW-308R Flat Panel Micathermic Radiator Heater

I've just had this a short time and have been testing it out, so I can't speak to the reliability issues that some have raises.

This space heater worked fine for about 6 months, then suddenly stopped working. For this price, I expect a product to function correctly and reliably. Less expensive space heaters I have purchased have worked beautifully for much much longer.Customer service was not helpful. Do not buy this product.
